20/11 - Epi 391 ... On To Level Two

Tuesday 20th Nov '12

Khushi got selected to the next level ... what a surprise Tongue Or maybe not Tongue  Tyra Wannabe almost eliminates her, but Good Guy Jai steps in and encourages her ... so she makes a speech about making her own identity and challenging herself ...
Super cool Bi*** walks in ... now the contest is complete ... one sweet-talking back stabbing rival, and one super bi*** one ...

Back home ... Arnav thoroughly domesticated now, teaching Arav ... cute family scene again, as family happily helps Khushi to hide the contest from Arnav ... all said and done, the Raizadas are really sweet in-laws ...
NK changes Khushi's diet from jalebis to carrots ...

Arshi ... hayyee ... damn cute Arshi scene ... with troubled Khushi snapping first at carrot, and then at Arnav ... looking like recalcitrant schoolgirl in front of indulgent Arnav ... who's caught her lie about maternity home visit ...
Arnav says wherever Khushi goes, problems follow her ... so he wants to know what's happening ... and Khushi is snappy because she can't tell him ... so he agrees not to ask ... awww ... and gives her a kiss instead ... double aww ... and carries her to bed ... triple aww ... switches off the light and asks, 'ab theek hai?' ... haayyeee ... Day Dreaming
So Bitwa finally figured out that Khushi isn't scared of the dark any more ... more like she's scared of the light ... especially when he gets amorous ... Day Dreaming ... one problem solved

Shit, he had to figure this out now??!!! So late in the day???!!! A few months ago, and at least we would have had our fill of Rabba ve's ...
SN- finally cv's figured out the 'fade into dark kiss' trick ... now if they could do a 'shut the door kiss' trick, we would be happy campers ... Day Dreaming

Next morning, Khushi waits anxiously for phone call ... while entire family eats toast and butter ...
Arnav leaves ... phone call comes ... Khushi is selected (but of course) ... family jumps with joy ... Arnav returns ... Khushi makes excuse and he leaves again ...
SN - I thought she wanted to tell him once she was selected?

Mami thinks it was all due to her make up, of course Again, cute, the way the entire family is so happy for her ...
And sweet ... Khushi wants to share this with Arnav ...

On to Level Two ... an evening with the sponsors and judges ... a test of walk, talk and confidence ... what will Khushi do?

*edit*
Thoughts

Nice episode, not making it easy to detox ... oh well, I will watch as long as Sanaya is there. As Nani says, she's working so hard, mehnat ka phal hamesha meetha hota hai. Nani is a wise lady.

Khushi's speech ... a woman trying to make her own identity, to prove to herself that she can do it, she can make a place of her own, where she's not only wife and mother, but her own person. And to do it, she chooses something completely out of her own comfort zone, something which is tough for her to do, which she can't imagine doing. Nice!
The new contestant ... typical bi*** ... woman, learn to speak before you open your mouth. CV's, get some decent extras, please. These ones are not even believable.

Family scene was again cute ... the family helps Khushi whole-heartedly to hide the truth from Arnav and to help her for the contest ... NK advises on diet ... carrots, not jalebis.
*sigh* NK, yes, we know! No jalebis for some time.

Arshi scene ... such a sweet Arshi scene after so long Day Dreaming   Both completely in character ... Khushi troubled, pareshan, so the only person she can snap at is her Laad Governor ... and her chief complaint is that she's doing all this because of something he said unthinkingly, she's got herself into something over her head, and she can't even tell him what shes doing ... can't confide in him and take strength from him ...
Arnav has totally transformed into doting, loving husband ... he knows she's up to something, he doesn't have a good feel about it ... but he does know that even his family knows, so it can't be so bad ... though she has a habit of getting herself into trouble ...
Liked the way he backs off, giving her space, but at the same time reassures her that he's there for her ... sees that she's giving up things she loves ... first jalebis, then chanas ... she's unhappy about it, but determined ... this is something she is going to see through to the end ...
And Arnav knows Khushi's determination ... he's seen it too many times ... if she has made up her mind, there is nothing much that can stop her ...
So a kiss to reassure her that yes, he's there for her ... then another ... but she backs off, shy now, because the second kiss was not for reassurance, but for something else Day Dreaming ... a raised eyebrow ... 'you don't want this? Of course you do ...' And he picks her up and carries her to bed, and switches off the light ... 'ab theek hai?' Because his wife might be a lioness in all ways, but when it comes to love, she's a bit shy ... now that she knows what it's all about ... and what he means when he looks at her that way ... Day DreamingDay DreamingDay Dreaming

Morning scene was cute again ... Barun is looking better now that he's rested and has fewer scenes ... and has shaved ... though he still needs a haircut! Family continues to help Khushi hide the news about her contest ... when is Khushi going to tell him?
Liked the way Arav took her call when Khushi was too scared to do so ... liked Mami getting as excited about the promotion to Level 2 as the rest ... loved Nani's enthusiasm and pride in Khushi and Anjali's joy ... loved the way Arnav rubs Khushi's lipstick off his cheek ...
Arnav's words ... it's all a scam ... more ulta decoding?
Nani's words ... you will be successful at Level 2, because 'mehnat ka phal hamesha meetha hota hai' ... and the family support ... on screen or offscreen? Or both?
Again liked the way Khushi wanted to share her happiness with Arnav ...

And what is the evening going to be all about? A meeting with judges and sponsors ...
And most importantly, will Khushi get some new clothes???!!!

    5. Hayee, Rekh, what are you doing? Just as I have mentally geared myself for BS leaving, first we get such a cute Rabba ve, and then you bring these songs ... :(((

Anybody want to do ulta decode of jalebi vs carrot ... Mr carrot, don't think this friendship is permanent, I will go back to my jalebis soon ...

  2. i loved today's rabba ve. it was very sweet.. khushi being cute.. arnav being bitwa.. and they had a kiss-fade-to-black. i am happy.

though i have a head desk moment about her going to the level2 event in the same dress she wore for the kidnapping finale. where are the new clothes that di brought for her?

aarav is actually contributing a lot to the feel of the episode , even without actually saying much. he underlined the fact that he's a smart kid.. and that he is a kid. whoever is in charge of the kid's screenplay, Good Job!

i loved the final entry.. you can see that the girl is in for some kickass khushi-ness. but i did not like that khushi had no spicy retort.. she usually had tit-for-tat answers for arnav.. (actually, she never said anything when the la brigade teased her, so maybe that is reserved for her laad governor)

anyway, the two minutes of rabba ve saved the episode, from my pov.

  4. i fell in love with khushi... all over again! actually, i could feel arnav falling in love with her all over again. she was damn cute with her jalebhi and carrot convo, the way she was sulking at not being able to share her happiness with arnav. her inner battles, so blatantly obvious on her face, and her child like reactions to it. today khushi(sanaya) triggered something in me and i'm trying to draft an article on it. i'll post it here, if and when i finish it :)

I have not watched today's epi yet
will wait for ur article.....honestly i don't relate to K at all anymore....and to think this Khushi was central to ASR's feelings about love.....when i read ur words above i felt a glimmer of hope....i have stopped thinking of what the writers want...becos i guess its not even in their power to want anymore...i actually feel sorry for the writer who has to write out K's scenes...if they can make something out of this...gud for them...

    1. from the writeup, i am pretty sure she did go there.. and the production team has no idea about the toofan on IF.. and they are making the serial just like they always did. just for that, i think i should give this show another chance.. the episode was actually well directed today.. it was true to the screenplay.. (and it is not the production team's fault if the screenplay is faulty, it is the creative team's fault!)

  8. i was reading this post
    http://dia-thoughtsandstuff.blogspot.com/2012/06/16.html
and i am wondering.. the kidnapping plot was very well executed, even while dragging (why? because it kept the audience on its toes!) i read dia's post and i am awed by the amount of time and interest we all put into that time.. when things were happening!! in fact, as i read through, i feel the adrenaline rush.

and today, it almost seems as though i am the sole poster on the blog, no discussions, nothing,.. and we all go to IF for some chitchat.. is it only because barun is leaving? is it only because the producer said the story has run its course? is it only because they are back to showing what we call meaningless tripe? it was this way EVEN then.. so what is different now? the audience got detoxed. with the dadi drama and the di spotlight drama.. they ruined a perfectly good sangeet with the baby killing.. i think that started it for many. .. was that it? why are we disinterested in the show now? is it because we could not engage into the shital drama? is it because arnav and khushi are so different now?

someone comment. please.. its feeling like solitary confinement here..

      its a bit of everything...

If i were only talk only about myself...the show does not interest me beyond ARHI scenes...make that SARUN scenes
yes there was a brief moment yesterday when Khushi made a heartfelt plea on why she chose to be Mrs India...irrespective of what i think of the idea or what caused her to do this (a big question for me tho I like Dia's perspective on it), i was impressed with K saying that she wanted to do something out of her comfort zone...anyone who does that has my support...example..which is why i like BS in ASR's role it is out of his comfort zone....and he did complete justice to it...so i can appreciate K's POV...am i kicked abt it..not really unless i know where they are heading becos they have drummed up hype on some tracks and left them by the wayside..so i am wary and suspicious of their motives...example DKS, Shyam exposure, BFTP, sheetal (ok we know a little abt that) and i refuse to accept that the maker couldn't tell his story becos of fan pressure, they are an easy target..

as i said yesterday...the story teller now has to work to get my attention back(it sounds pompous on my part to say that...but i don't mean it like that). Frankly, i really don't know what will be achieved in the show even with BS if they have nothing interesting to say anymore...maybe i am in a minority which says that the different high points in the serial have been missed (deliberately, if i may so..putting two and two together) and so get the magic back...will be an uphill task...it may just be a decent serial from on...probably never to reach the dizzying heights of hysteria...(well who knows, it may be a gud thing too)

on ur point of whether K and A have changed...Well A has changed...of that there is no doubt...as far K is concerned...i had hopes that A will unravel the K mystery...but now i seriously don't know and don't care..

    3. Awww, Jaya ... so true, the blog has really slowed down compared to those days! Even with the kidnapping and BS being out for 11/15/40/45 days, the story was strong and kept us hooked for the most part.

I read this post ... those were the days ... when the show inspired such outpouring of emotion. I think the offscreen drama has really taken a toll ... are the normal TRP audience even aware of all this happening? Especially as there has been no official announcement of any replacement anywhere? Although the news of Barun leaving has made its way into daily papers like TOI and HT, so that news is out. I really wonder what the TRP junta thinks of all this - just another actor leaving, and we'll wait for the new one?

Coming back to the show ... yesterday's episode was good after a very long time ... if you exclude the typical bitchy models in Western dress they always put in. From what I've seen of Miss India show segments, behind the scenes the girls are all reasonably friendly ... some politics must be there, of course, but by and large, they seem quite friendly with each other. And they work together for quite a long time too ...

I remember Miss Congeniality ... they showed backstage the girls were all friendly and gelled really well on the whole ...

And why this compulsion that all shows have to show that girls wearing Western dress have to be bitchy and mean? La was an exception, but she switched to Indian clothes too ... in their other show, PH has their lead wearing jeans and kurtis ...

The rest ... I really liked the episode. I LIKED Khushi wanting to do something on her own, not even take the help of her very famous, very successful husband ... I loved his understanding that this is something she needs to do herself, and he will be there for support always ... I loved the way she refused the chanas, not nobly but irritatedly, wanting to leave her 'behenji' tag behind and ready to sacrifice her beloved jalebis and chanas for that purpose ... the Khushi makeover is something we have all been wanting to see for so long.

And loved the Rabba ve ... she may be ready to take on the world and prove herself, but at heart she is still the simple small-town girl, who feels shy to make out with her own husband without the light being switched off! And he understands that too about her ...

    4. Aww, Rekh, you don't care? Aise mat bolo please ... hamare saath yahan bak bak kaun karega?

IF ... and that's a big IF ... the cv's pull up their socks and do this track well ...IF they feel it is a do or die point for them as well ... the survival of the show depends on the next few weeks ... IF the PH is even interested in keeping the show on for longer than a few weeks ... all these IF's ... then the track can be good. The PH was pushed to the wall during the kidnapping too ... missing their lead for six weeks and forced to change the story around for that ... and they did a pretty good job then. They only dragged the last couple of weeks, and that too, because apparently Barun's shoot was prolonged unexpectedly.

Here they have had a good two months to plan this out properly ... they have no pressure of time, because SP is happy to keep the show on air for the next couple of months at least ... so I am keeping my fingers crossed ... but my expectations low :)))

    5. Dia...

Hayeee...I have always said R&R comes before IPK for me....koi ho na ho..hum serial dekhen na dekhe....hum zaroor bak bak karne aa jayenge....HUGS.....

genuinely Dia, the real power of fandom was in ensuring that Arnav did not walk into the sunset with Sheetal ( i am presuming that the intention was to send him off)
now the battle to keep BS on...i really don't see the point except to convey to the makers and the medium that they will have to work to get back their audience (a large part of it) obv some will watch and many may not...

so for me after BS's exit, its a new story...something that i am going to view purely on merit of how they manage ASR's exit..If they keep Viraf as ASR's face....sentiment comes into picture...becos i am emotionally involved in the serial...i won't be able to watch it...If they keep Viraf as another character, i will view this based on the exit they give ASR, the character...for me IPK was ASR's story, once they kill him off...how can i stay invested in the story and unfortunately they are messing with K's sketch all the time...for me K had to be unraveled by A not by anyone else...so it will be painful to view this new Khushi tru another's character's journey...*sigh*

But I am here in R&R...main hoon na...i have loved being here and will continue to do so...and who knows i will do bak bak on things i have not watched but still have an opinion on...(does tat scare the R&Rites?) LOL

    6. Rekh,

I thought of you and Sandy yesterday after the episode, which was WOW by the way. (I think this is Gul's revenge- she is killing us softly with Barun and his expressions!)

That bedroom scene with ASR giving a quizzical 'oh really look' when Khushi is too preoccupied... I was reminded of your discussion once, on how the story has to be told from Arnav's POV. And here you have written 'i had hopes that A will unravel the K mystery...'

I think that is happening now. If Sandy was here she would be able to say this better. I know you were talking about Arnav digging into her past to see what made her what she is, I think the same thought is being conveyed very subtly here.

I feel there is growth in both Khushi and ASR here. At the end of Sheetal drama, what happened?
Khushi slapped Sheetal- for Aarav. But before that she made a statement- "I was blind in my faith and you took advantage if me; I was a fool" There is a slight growth in Khushi here, I feel. She is learning important lessons on not to be gullible in her innocence. And Arnav rightly supports her. He does not want her to feel like a fool- hence the statement to reassure her that she was not foolish. Whereas now he does not hesitate to tell her that she ends up in stupid situations- his words are some times mild, at times crude.

I feel this is the couple finding the right balance. When she is down, he will support her, when she seems to go over the limit, he will chide her. Arhi is still beautiful and growing. Arnav is very understanding and he is learning new things about her everyday.

Yesterday, he learned that something has affected her so much that she has given up her beloved jalebi (all of us made that decoding on Barun!) and chana- but he is willing to give her space, let her handle it her own way. It is not a YRKKH relationship.

And I feel Khushi has not changed, she is just showing her deep insecurities now, because she does not have to put up a brave face in front of him any more. I feel Khushi's characterisation is not being butchered, she is just showing her true feelings as Mrs. Raizada- the insecurities and eagerness to shine that comes with her status as his wife, all the while not getting it that he has wholeheartedly accepted her as she is.

When Khushi was about to eat the chana, she was reminded of the 'middle class' comment- it is troubling her. She is out of her comfort zone and she is unable to share it with him...this is something she has to solve on her own, perhaps. He can reassure her with words ('I don't care what my staff thinks of you; I love you as you are'), but the real solution lies with her. Only she can help herself.

And Arnav is discovering the layers to Khushi's character. (I don't know if there are many there, she seems pretty straightforward otherwise. It is just that this transition from the middle class to the rich has overwhelmed her slightly. She will hopefully find her bearings soon.)

On K, i really don't know...i mean...we have all had discussions on K needing to be demystified....how i wanted it...

The sad part, I am not able to decide, which is troubling me more

the actor who i had grown use to seeing as ASR not being there or that K will make a new journey of discovery without ASR, the character....
      God...this is crazy!!

    8. I meant the last sentence to read as

he actor who i had grown use to seeing as ASR not being there for Khushi when that journey happens or that K will make a new journey of discovery without ASR, the character....

      Delete
    9. rekha, khushi ideally should make that journey without ASR. like opti suggested, once she gets sucked into the vortex of that world, i need a new entry to lead her on.. and ASR, in the end, to bring her back... (SKD, powerful!)

      Delete
    10. Hmmm... Let us see how they take it forward.
May be this is a journey she needs to take on her own.

If she gets selected to the next round, won't there be an intense training session for a month or so? Will the girls be allowed to go home? Will there be space for ASR in the Mrs. India track?

      Delete
    11. But J, even u r saying that u would want ASR to bring her back?....thats the point!! IPK journey will have a blot if K's self-realisation doesn't have ASR in some part of the journey..in that that better for the makers to keep Viraf as ASR ( god, what am i saying?)

      Delete
    12. well rekha, there is no khushi without arnav.
wherever she goes, lautke kabootri wapas wahi aayegi.
khushi will always be arnav's.. and seriously, SP will not allow it otherwise. thoda straight socho yaar! (which is why i have no problems with viraf being arnav. now that i think about it)

      Delete
    13. Jaya,

I too would not mind seeing Viraf as ASR if Barun is not returning at all because it would be difficult to show Khushi disregarding Arnav and getting on with her life wihout him if he is still alive and she is aware of it. It would be butchering Arshi for good. If we cannot have Sarun as Arshi, it is better to have Arshi in some form and retain the essence of this couple rather than break them for good. If Barun is returning after some time (even if it is to wrap up the show), then the plot I suggested is what I would prefer to see because it would not totally butcher Khushi (she will not love the new guy, only temporarily get cuaght up in the new world which he lures her into). They can always show Khushi talking to ASR over the phone where her initial enthusiasm in speaking to him slowly wears into routine and lacklustre responses as she gets increasingly caught up in the glam and glitter and finally the longingness to reconnect with her old world (a significant part of which is ASR) and her return to her man.

how arnav fell in love with khushi

    ReplyDelete
  10. Although I am yet to take a liking for the track, I like the thought behind it, if that is what it is. Arnav gifted Khushi a catering company. He then offered her an office from where she can operate for the clothes line. She turned down both for a shot at Mrs. India which seemed ridiculous at first instance. As I thought it over this is what I feel. We know that Khushi excels and in fact relishes cooking. So doing well in that field is no big deal. She is also good with needle work and while her dress sense may not be up-market, she can have her own line of traditional wear which has its own clientale. So if she were to do well in that field, it would still not be something out of her comfort zone.

Taking part in a beauty and personality pageant thought is a huge step for it is completely alien to her. She has to deliberately step out of her comfort zone and conquer something which is unthinkable for a person like her. If she succeeds, it would be something she can really be proud of because she would have to turn herself inside out to achieve this. It would have to be a complete metamorphosis. This is both firghtening as well as exciting for her. For someone who always believed in tackling the bull by the horns, it could cause an adrenalin rush in her which she had never experienced before. What is interesting to note is that when this show started this girl had strong beliefs and ideologies which she not only practiced but made sure the people around her also followed. She tried changing La and Arnav and succeeded in both the cases, although it took much longer to change Arnav and when he finally did, she wasn't even trying to alter him. Now she is the one who wants to change without any overt provocation.

I guess at some point one tends to stagnant and when one does so, one feels the need to break free and try something totally different. The need to be independent and respected by her husband is besides the point. That need could be fulfilled in other ways too but she chooses the most difficult path.

What is in store for the future? I have no idea but if I were to take this forward, I would like to see her reach her goal and in doing so move away so far from her path that she is unable to connect with herself, let alone with her family. This happens to many small town girls with big dreams to become celebrities. They gain everything - money, fame, lavish lifestyles but they lose themselves. They lose their original identities. That is a huge price and the realisation sets in only when the initial euphoria (of having achieved their goal) dies down.

I think Khushi may face a similar plight. She may get caught up in a world which is so unlike hers that she soon looses her bearings. While she may still love Arnav, she may not connect with him as she used to do. The new entrant may show her a whole new world which she was aware of but was never a part of. So once she becomes a part of this materialistic and pompous world, she may temporarily forget the mroe real and loving world she came from. Arnav may willingly let her go, let her explore this world, knowing that she will return to him sooner than later. We may get to see the journey of the new Khushi in this world in the next couple of months and if they want to give a decent end to Arshi love story, they will make her return to her real world, once she realises how much she has lost in this process. If BS is avaiable, we may then see Arnav help Khushi regain her identity and life back.

    1. opti, ghee shakkar for this post and the hope it brings with it..

interestingly, manorama mami once married mahinder singh raizada.. (am not sure of the name, pretty sure i picked it from a fanfic) she was a small town girl, actually a maid in the house.. and she had a heart of gold, and a love for gold (snicker).. she married into the world of the rich and famous, she tried to mesh into the lifestyle.

her MIL disapproved of her love for the external factors.. sarees, makeup, jewelry.. she disapproved of her laziness, her blunt speech, her hopeless attempts at english.. but loved her for her heart.

payal married a raizada.. she knew the huge discrepancy in their status.. tried to refuse the alliance.. yet conceded, and married him.. she wanted to become a worthy wife to her hubby.. failed miserably( thank devi maiyya we did not have to see more of that miserable track)

khushi married a raizada under duress. she fell in love with him, he fell in love with her, yet the discrepancy remains.. it is not about her morals, it is about her status.. she knows that she is accorded status because of her MRS degree. and regardless of whether it was in the heat of the moment, arnav did indeed taunt her about it.. so her little speech at the auditions makes sense to me.

and i am agreeing to all of you, this track could show khushi -and arnav- who she really is. i am waiting to see what they make of this track once barun is gone.

    2. Opti, read ur post..very powerful one...i liked the way you put together a track....not sure if SP has the nerve to carry it thru...mostly they go by the tried and tested...with small twists (altho i like what they are attempting with DABH, i don't watch it but i get the drift and see some relevance for the target audience)
but for them to show a lead heroine taking that route would be indeed pathbreaking.....dunno wats in store...

K has been a mystery (not so much in terms of what she will do in a scenario more like why does she do these things)so its a gud track to have i guess...

J, i liked ur post..One of the aspects in the story that i have always said needs some looking into is the difference in their worlds...just the off-screen drama making me lose perspective...

    3. Jaya and Rekha,

Did you see last night's episode of Veera? They show a strong female who, after going through the initial shock of her husband's betrayal and the existance of a baby born out of wedlock and the subsequent miscarriage, finally picks herself up and decides to don the mantel of the man of the house for the sake of taking care of herself and her son. Her husband has left the village unable to bear her coldness and the rest of the villagers taunt. She goes to the field to work where she drives a tractor. Women can do whatever they want to do and if pushed to a corner, they fight back even harder.

Somehow this whole beauty pageant route to acheive Khushi's independence is not sitting well with me and I am trying to justify this by seeking some lesson for her too in all this.

Jaya, your point about differences in status is well taken but I'd rather that they show that the so-called status is not the maker or breaker of marriages. The Raizadas have particularly been the non-snooty kinds and Mami's complexes are self inflicted. Payal's insecurities could have been better handled had they used that as an opportunity to show Arnav-Payal bonding , with Arnav giving her tips of party etiquettes clandestinely and an unsuspecting Khushi thinking he is up to trouble her jiji and quarelling with him regarding it. Arnav-Payal chemistry was so under utilised in the show and now there is no opportunity for it too.

    4. Opti, J, Rekh,
May I give a different POV?
This is an interesting track- K being drawn in to a vortex and all, but I really don't know if the story will be taking this turn.

It is really not about SP taking this soch or anything, for me it does not go with what K has been so far. I am not saying she is infallible, but to me Khushi has been strong when it comes to temptations like this. She is quite simple actually. Arnavji is her world and now with the added responsibility of Aarav, I personally don't want to see my heroine going this route.

So far, I have never felt that Khushi's characterisation has been lost, but if they go this way, (it is really a VERY good cover for Barun's leave), for the first time I will feel the character has been butchered. I will not rant about it, but definitely I will feel sad- Khushi would have lost her innocence if this happens.

    5. Su,

I don't find any other logic for this beauty pageanttrack if they are not going this route unless the pageant itself is a red herring. I also don't see how they will cover up for ASR unless they are planning to do away with his character altogether (like showing him missing and presumed dead). If they don't, then they have to show Viraf as ASR's replacement. Even if they do, they will still not have a justification for the beauty pageant track unless Arnav gets annoyed with Khushi for taking part in it and Khushi manofying him. How long can they show this?

Yes, Khushi's simplicity will be lost. The woman whom Arnav fell in love with will be lost and justify the disconnect between these two. Isn't real world like that. Do we all remain the same? Don't we change? sometimes for the better and many times for the worse? As long as Khushi still loves Arnav and no other man and her temporary emotional disconnect is because of the ways of the new world and not because of a new love, I am fine by it.

    6. Su,

If we talk about butcherisation, i think IPK itself will not stand the test..well that is another matter..

i still can't understand why K needs to hide this aspect of becoming a Mrs India...considering all the convos leading to it.. Arnav has only challenged her...he has not forbidden her from doing what she wants..
if she is not fearing his wrath what is there to hide when she has already told him she needs to do this her way which apparently Arnav is agreeable to...so apart from the expediency of the plot...i see no purpose...

I think Opti was looking at a path for the next element of the story...its seems a viable path...altho i am not sure of how the channel views a track with slightly grey connotations for the heroine.

for me the current track will be tame like so many of their plots if it is just ends in her becoming Mrs India and then Phusssh....so what is the point of the track...K always gets a wild idea...anything can set her off and she will go on that path...and then come home after the wild idea is put to rest? where is growth for the character...so in some sense, considering the off-screen drama happening, i could see sense in Opti's track (not necessarily in the same vein, but in a altered sense) becos I still see K as a person with issues on trusting, being reactive...if this track curbs this element ...it will be nice graph...

Su, to me K is more real person than any of SP heroines...she has issues...she is not perfect....thats what i like about her..she remains clueless about a few things...somethings i wold want her to change and some may be never.....its really tuff for me to say when the makers themselves are not clear...

    7. Opti,

For me, the justification for the track is plain and simple- it is what K herself described to the judges. She wants to get out of her comfort zone- even when she is trying to find an identity for herself here, she is doing it also for Arnav- so that she can be more comfy in HIS WORLD, for BOTH their sakes.

We really don't know what Viraf's role wil be- whether he is ASR or K's new love interest (very unlikely- I'll hate Gul if she does that) or just some business rival to ASR who has a bigger part to play in the days to come. I know there is no point wondering, we wil simply have to wait for the Cvs to unravel the mystery man.

Yes, I agree we all change.
Arnav changed for the better for Khushi. He turned from grey or black to white.

God knows what Gul (or whoever is in charge now) has in store for Khushi! (May be this is atonement for not having RTR for him? * wink*)

    8. 'why K needs to hide this aspect of becoming a Mrs India...':

It is a part of her insecurity, and she is not happy with it. She, as well as the rest of the Raizadas (Anjali, the sister who knows him well too), feel he will not welcome the idea. Also she knows he will be supportive.

But how has he been supportive till now? He wants to be a part of the solution, in a big way (when he wanted her to start work in his office) or a small way (when he suggested her private office or the dabba company).

Khushi and even we don't know how he will react to the Mrs. India part.(BTW, will he be there as a sponsor today?) I think that is why she is trying to keep it a secret. She has just entered the next level- she has promised him sh ewill not do anything stupid. But she is stillnot sure if he will firmly put his foot down and not even let her participate. If she crosses some levels, I guess she can stand up to him and say, 'see, I have come this far, don't you think i can go further, even if this is not my forte. Give me a chance to prove myself further.'

It is definitely not an ego tussle at this level, going by how unhappy she is about keeping it from him. I think it is more abut her being unsure of herself AND of his reaction.

    9. Rekh,
Sorry forgot to address above post to you.
Khushi is DEFINITELY not a SP heroine. She is Gul's heroine.
She was never perfect for me, but this is an aspect I will struggle with: I don't know how she can forget the responsibility of being a mother and wife .... You guys could be right, though.
ASR is spending more time with Aarav already!

    10. Last line: I meant ASR is the parent spending time with AArav.

    11. Su sweetheart...gud u reminded me of Aarav..one of the reasons i can't connect to IPK anymore....i just can't picture Arnav and Khushi as parents of a 4/6/8/10 year old boy....

in a way i am glad that the story is hurtling down towards a destination or at pace that is hard for me to fathom....pining for something beautiful that is to end is painful..so maybe this hard knocks are a blessing in disguise

    12. Interesting discussion going on here ... I want to wait and see what role Viraf will play. Will he simply be the new ASR and watch from the wings? Or will he be a new character? In the second case, than Opti's track sounds more likely ... or at least some variant of it.

In MJHT, one of the tracks was Gunjan, a very shy girl, bagging the lead role in a movie, and it was her boyfriend who suffered the insecurities associated ... he thought she was moving closer to the movie director, and away from him. It led to his telling their love story to a journalist, which jeopardised the movie as it was a love story - Gunjan was furious, and he tried to make up ... bottom line, ended with Gunjan stepping away from the movie and back to Samrat because she didn't want to lay her personal life on the line for her career. I was disappointed with that ending :))) I always root for career girls!

Here, Arnav is not insecure, Khushi is. This whole foray into Mrs. India is because of his one unthinking remark that he earns the money, so he decides how to spend it, and that she doesn't have the qualities necessary to stand on her own feet. We have discussed here that we wanted to see her growing into Mrs KASR ... we thought it would be an office track ...
But from precedent, TRP junta and PH don't like office tracks. And to be fair, it's a bit difficult to make an office track very interesting on screen. Hence this Mrs India track ... they've already ruled out Khushi's voice, otherwise singer is usually the other option taken on screen. I am taking this Mrs India as a variant of that ... where they can show some glamour and color, while showing Khushi evolving. It could then go the way Opti suggested ... that Khushi finds herself getting lost in this new world, and wants to get back home to her Arnavji ... she also realises the truth of Arnav's words ... this world is hard and cruel, and you have to be hard to make your way forward. And Khushi decides she doesn't want to make her way forward that route, she is happy remaining simple Khushi ... BUT she does acquire the basic confidence and polish along the way, as well as the ability to fit in more comfortably in his world. Which she should ... after all, Arnav straddles the two worlds - his traditional family and his Westernised work life ... she should be able to do the same to be truly his soulmate.

IF the will show that on SP - showing a modern confident heroine on SP will be a huge deal. Traditional confident heroine - dime a dozen.

And again, BS not being around throws all this completely into a tailspin ... what role will the new guy play. Though as I see it, Arnav would not have played much of a role in this track ...

    13. And Rekh, I totally agree with you ... I am having a very tough time accepting Arnav and Khushi as parents of a 6/8/10 year old. Just doesn't gel. So one last option for Viraf ... to enter as originally planned ... as the actual father of Arav.
OR, if Viraf is indeed going to be the new male lead - Arnav or another man - then yet another new entry to play Arav's dad.
