Much better episode compared to yesterday ... please keep all the Khabri brothers OUT of this show hereafter ... a plea!!!
Loved the way Nani is so supportive ... she has always been Khushi's champion. So are NK and Anjali ...
Mami is jealous ... entirely as per character ...
What is AR co-hosting? IS there going to be a Mrs. India after all? And a 360 of the first ramp fall? Doubtful, cv's have decided to consign the entire Arshi story to history.
Seems they are building a bank of sorts for SaRun's UK trip ... most of their scenes were separate, except for one.
Was that 'Joru ka ghulam' a jab at Barun?

Note 1- Have house guests this weekend, will update episode when I have time, and also gist of Sanaya's interview. Basically she said the same thing that Barun did, in much clearer, crisper terms, and ticked off the Conspiracy theorists for creating a mess, not to mention problems between him and Gul.
Note 2 - Agreed that the show has new writers ... but could they please do a quick re-cap of the last 1 1/2 years worth of episode write-ups? Khushi always knew dancing. Rest was okay, get the feeling that the next week will be leading up to Khushi becoming Mrs KASR, preparatory to Arnav going missing.
Note 3 - And if the deluded fans will allow the show to go on, then there is a chance that Barun will return as Arnav to wrap up the show after a variable period of time, the time depending on how the show fares in his absence. But the main problem still remains - is the PH interested in giving us a proper new story? Or has the plug already been pulled? The problem is not really Barun, at least not now. His position has been clarified by both himself and his co-star, who is also a very good friend, so she would know better than the Conspiracy Theorists.
The problem is the PH and their interest or lack thereof. And that problem remains.
Ah well ... wait and watch.

Nani, Mami, Anjali and NK learn about the Mrs. India contest from Arav, and led by Nani, they encourage Khushi.
Khushi says she wants to do something to prove her worth ... prove that she can stand on her own feet and face the world on her own. But to keep it from Arnav - she wants to surprise him.
And Arnav on the other side, is preparing a surprise for Khushi.
Nani decides to teach Khushi dance ...as Mrs. India is designed to showcase talent. Manorama is annoyed that she's over the age limit ... and is very jealous. So she calls Arnav to warn him that Khushi is up to something ... without making any sense, but enough to raise his antennae.
NK tries to console a wailing Mami ... Khushi arrives to massage her hurt ego and make her feel better ... in typical Khushi style ... 'they can't let you participate, because they know you will win ... but can you please help me, because I'm no good at all this make up stuff.'
So Mami is reconciled ... she's so much better at all this than Khushi, after all! Her sense of self-importance restored.
NK tells Nani what Khushi is doing ... they investigate ... and find disaster awaiting them! Khushi made up, Mami-style!
Liked the touch of Khushi and Arnav talking on phone to their respective siblings ... Khushi telling her about Mami and make-up, missing her Jiji ... 'don't tell Arnav till I actually get selected ... although he has this habit of figuring out what I'm doing ...'

First gussa ... combined with proprietary attitude ... while Khushi tries to hide her over made up face ... 'why didn't you take my calls? And Mami was saying something about a plan?'
Khushi tries to cover, fake anger, changing the subject, a quick phone call was nothing ... but Arnav isn't having it ... 'Khushi, what's going on?'
So finally she gives up ... yes, there is something, but she doesn't want to tell him yet ...
'I hope it's not something stupid ...'
No ... umm, she doesn't think so, anyway ... that last a little doubtfully ...
And he notices her too-red cheeks finally and changes the tack of interrogation ... 'why are your cheeks so pink?'
Another attempt to hide what she's doing ... 'because ... of you ...'
An incredulous 'Excuse me?!' .... he's not buying that for one minute! So Khushi quickly rubs her cheek against his ... 'now your cheek too ... oww!!!'
He hasn't shaved ... it hurts!
SN - yep, we know he hasn't shaved. We've been complaining about it for ages too!!!
Arnav is unapologetic ... 'that's your punishment for hiding things from me ...'
But he can't see even that much hurt ... so a gentle sweet kiss to make up ... and a small tremulous smile appears on Khushi's face too ...
'Now?'
And the FNRVIS is in action ... the head honcho, no less ... phone call from Aman. Has the guy done his PhD in 100 ways to interrupt RV?
Arnav's 'Yes, Aman ...' as he strode away was very frustrated indeed!
Nani blesses Khushi, Anjali feeds her dahi-cheeni ... do your best, we're rooting for you! Khushi tells Anjali she hasn't become Mrs. India yet ... and she doesn't even have the right clothes ...

And Arnav puts paid to Khushi's plan by taking her to office instead.

Although Arnav wanted Khushi to work at his office, Khushi wanted to stand on her feet in her own way, achieve something without the benefit of Arnav's name and money. Her show of independence? It started with a small clash, the clash over how to raise a child ... it became one of self-respect and self-esteem.

Seriously, I don't think we will ever get a guy on telly screen make "its a personal thing" sound so sexy..loved BS in that scene....no other ASR can make that remark (even tho it was a mumble)swagger and a closed door count.
Khushi lies are increasing by the day....
"Stupid ...hamare hisaab se toh nahin"...is sounding like a recipe for disaster...for Khushi and the serial...
Is ASR going to co-host the show....AR kya kya karte hain aur yeh ad mein kyun nahin likha hain and since organisers' relatives can't participate in such events...will this cause a great AR shakeout? yeh chodo...yeh logic BBE ka dept hain joh aaj kal bandh hain....BBE is busy having fun with junior junta when the fun rolls..
Is tuesday going to be BS's last epi...so he is going to die of shock watching Khushi on ramp? the ultimate sudden death scenario...is that the big surprise?
Can i hope the chindi chor PH drop this plan of fashion show in favour of an office stint for Khushi...imagine the savings...only a few dresses from Chandni chowk and a few chairs, a couple of extras and one dabba PC.....
i read these episode updates from work and by the time i watch it in the evening (we are in EST) i know every scene analyzed and re-analyzed by fans. i went to skyfall last night when i came home mom said 'kushi lost it completely'.. i said "i know that.. so, i skipped it."

my mom is typical house-wife who contributes to TRPs. i wonder where will be IPKKND if the TRPs are on.. PH and SP would have known how much of a slippery slope they are riding with this new storyline. when this TRPs counting was given a break for few weeks, every news article said now is the time to invent some new storylines as the writers are not pressured by TRPs.
never believed SP and PH use that break to destroy IPKKND this way.

DeleteFrom IPK's experience, i would say TRP is not the only thing that matters....don't ask me why becos i don't have any source to back this claim....just the fact that the channel is hell bent on keeping IPK alive even in the midst of all this mayhem gives me a hint that probably the buzzon TRP is only the tip of the iceberg and other aspects such an audience reach also contributes to topline and bottomline....
For me, how good the episode is, is inversely proportional to how OTT Khushi is ... if she is not OTT, the rest I can take.

Arnav is very keen to start Khushi working with him in office ... he even gets her office ready.
For the rest ... mantra is wait and watch. The future of IPKKND will be clearer only after the UK trip, I think. Of course depends on how interested the cv's are.

I don't think AR is co hosting- the dresses were for a bridal shoot, I think.
On the track headed the Khushi goes to office way, I didn't think of that. It is a possibility.
More than that, I wsas thinking if they follow up with the Mrs. India idea, they have a ASR minus track. It can all be about the competetion and Khushi's grooming. I am especially hopeful after nani's dialogue- they don't expect the ususl model stuff from the mrs. India contestants- read- no swim suit round. Plus there are opportunities for Khushi to meet all sorts of people, don't know if they will go all the way.But it is a good track to get Sanaya to dress up in lots of good stuff and even dance to 1 or 2 numbers.
Anjali cupped Khushi's face today! And I noticed! I usually don't uinless you guys mention the cupping habit, and certainly Khushi- face- cupping is thankfully not an annoying habit!
I liked the DESPERATE way they used NK as a filler. And certainly the sibling calls- makes me hopeful of some sort of a track for Payash later on in life.
Why does Arnav have a beard? (How did Barun manage to grow it so much? I don't remember him having it yesterday.)
My brain is going in to all kinds of weird imagination after seeing the shadow kiss and the beard. But first, I want to appreciate the shadow part- it was sweet, an attempt to make a kiss different. I loved it.
Now the weird part:
Are they planning on some kind of transition? Will we get to see a bearded Barun kissing Khushi- focus on to the shadow and back to a bearded Viraf kissing Khushi? How weird can I think? But somewhere in the corner of my heart I am still hopeful that somehow Barun will be convinced to come back. Like take today as an example, if they limit his scenes to as much, make it more of telephone conversations, he can go home early. Hoping for too much?
Barun mentioned Birmingham in the interview, I think, so he is probably planning to stay on with wife extending the UK trip.
Also wondering, why did Barun cry when Dogra left, if he knew he himself was leaving in a matter of weeks? That means he had not made up his mind to quit then, was hopeful of getting a long leave. Grrrr...Gul, give the poor guy a break and get him back, PRETTY PLEASE..And give Sanaya also some break.
Rekha also mentioned the co- hosting. I think I missed it due to Barun's 'enenciation'. Oh! so then he must be co hosting the event.

ReplyDeleteHe has hit the nail on the head. This is what we have beeen saying too. Instead of asking for only Barun, we should demand for Akshay and Deepali too. Only then SP will wake up to the fact this PH needs help in working their supporting cast, that the leads are overworked and not 'disinterested'.
Abhaas is one smart guy, only fandom has not listened to him. We are still asking for only Barun.
I shudder when I see the demands to change the PH. Does that mean we will ge to see behna or lamp wick or PKD in IPK?

before IPK, i never involved myself beyond watching any serial for any considerable length of time to get involved ever...but IPK changed that for me....apart from surrendering the high ground, i have analysed characters as if they are real people with real issues....(sure sign of needing medical help, i guess)
From the serious to the frivolous, i have had a gud time bak-baking here in R&R...met some lovely friends and dunno when it went from talking about the story to the goings-on behind camera....nothing soul-searching happening on the show i guess!!kya karen....kuch na kuch pe toh bak bak zarori hain na?

Deletesu, my exact sentiments! i mean, come on yaar, BS is 28 not 5.. he is a matured grown up adult who has been able to make a mark on his own (ofc because of the support of his co-stars, producers, director and fans), but if he decides to quit at the peak of his career, its his life, his decision.... why should we even think otherwise?
all those interviews, ppl are hell bent on reading in between the lines and decoding them... what i don't understand is if that is what the stance they (gul, B and SI) want to present to the audience, why can't we accept them at the face value and get on with our lives?

DeleteBarun is taking a long break ... that is the only thing sure for now. IMO, show is on the way out. Not because BS is leaving, but because AD and DP have also left and no replacements announced. Show can't run for long with six actors.
If they announce a whole new cast after the UK trip, then things may change.

The gist of the off screen drama-
Dogra quit (reasonable)- deepali was sent off with him (since she had wanted to quit earlier too)- Barun had given notice (quits/ leave???) 2 months ago- the notice period got over at the same time as Dogra's quitting- and out of the blue some request for FF in forum 32 (something in IF), saying the 'story has run its course' (that was the weidest part of the whole drama for me!)- followed by GH quitting.... ab baaki ke cast ke saath kya karenge, no clue.
As usual I am the minority (read- single entity) hoping Barun will come back.
Don't worry, yaar. Things will get better. Enjoy AD.

forgetting that this story is written by people who have not even read the original character sketch, i cannot help but swoon over the way sarun take the seemingly random scene to arshi perfection... the stubble, the voice tone of that "punishment" ... the way Arnav's warmth and caring for Khushi seems to infuse the whole scene with a sincerity that is what has made them the best jodi on TV..

ReplyDeletethis was a status update of my friend on facebook, apparently these lines were said by Barney Stinson in How I Met Your Mother S08 E06.. i dont watch d show, so i have no idea about it.
but when i read those lines, Arnav and Khushi were the only ppl i could think of! this is the journey of ASR to Arnav in a nutshell!!
i second jaya, a DVD of of season one entirely and one with special uncut scenes like,
1) arhi scenes of payash wedding segments right upto the terrace scene.
2) a combo of all their car rides.
3) all the farak nahi padtha hai scenes
4) holi!
5) i love her, but i can't. i pretend to hate her but i don;t want (Hate marriage).

is it too much???

DeleteI was just going through some of my old posts in Geet to recollect what was the scene like when the show was going downhill when I came across this post I made when the hero had partial amnesia and forgot his entire life with his wife. At the time I had summarised their journey to love. Your mention of ASR's journey reminded me of it. Posting the link here to show why so many loved Maaneet so much. Have to commend this PH for making us fall in love with their jodis that it becomes hard to let go when they start systematically destroying what they create.

DeleteThe DVD box would be a wonderful idea...in fact this watered down version of the story has has an appeal that just thinking of what it might have been just blows my mind away...(usual for me...to think of what might have been....probably the most vocal critic here becos i just had that feeling in my bones of things not going well for a long time now!! but SARUN just kept the magic alive)
I have never bothered about off-screen happenings of any actor beyond a cursory look but SARUN have me glued with their silly antics most of the time....
my fav was the "kabootari kal phir ajayegi", and BS saying "Arnav gadhe ki taraf kuch bhi nahin kare toh bhi, uski shaadi Khushi se hi hogi" and ofc who can forget the hair pulling stunt that San did....
Some special scenes....there are many Krish u have mentioned almost all the lovely ones..
1) Arnav getting angry when Khushi has removed all her things from his room after the great altercation
2)Arnav-Khushi car rides...krish second that..the most momentous for me was the diwali one."main bahut khush hoon aapke aur Lavanyaji ke liye" and Arnav's retort" oh, really"...classic.....
3)ME epi of Khushi in closet shwethu's fav scene...i loved his outburst at the poolside.."tum toh keh rahi thi, tum lucknow chali jaogi"...to show anger and hope intertwined in scene...angry at being put thru hell and hope masking it almost wondering what made her stay back.
4)Arnav's middle of the road scene
5)"character dheela" and the scene at the poolside that followed
actually one can go on and on..

DeleteOn a wistful note, i wonder if anyone attempting to fill in the big shoes of BS can ever bring the little nuances that he brought to the character....superlative writing/directing may have a big to play here but some of the things an involved viewer of IPK has always seen is the individual magic of the actor(s)...and not to forget how we perceived the love of this pair played by SARUN
Deletemy wistfulness is magnified when i see that scene of last episode....
the way Arnav smiles when Khushi playfully tells him "u came back becos i did not receive ur call" and the way he bristles on being called "joru ka ghulam"...actually the scene was a very cute one, beautifully written....and directed....but the cherry on the top was really the way these two eased into the scene....(that only really comes from months of living that character....not necessarily something a new pair can easily take over despite the best acting)
The intensity and honesty that we feel in any ARHI scene, even the poorly written ones is becos of the sincerity infused by these two wonderful actors into their characters over the last one and half year....be it in a look, a glance, a word, a smile, a laugh or a tear....
i dunno why you think that someone will replace barun as ASR.. the PH and the channel have repeated that they are planning to bring another character .. even padfoot's news was the same..if barun quits, ASR goes away, another guy another character comes in.. viraf will not be ASR.
Deletehuh? okay....my bearings on the off-screen is bit off atm...so many versions......u are ofc right.....they will at the most get another guy to play the romantic lead in lieu of ASR, the character......becos having a lead and not having a romantic track for her in a story also does not make any sense if the serial is to run for some more time...
Deleteanyways mera kehna ka matlab tha....in any situation the new guy is stepping into BS shoes (as a romantic lead) not necessarily ASR's shoes...it would be a big challenge for the makers to make that romance a viable one....well if he is a rival in affections...and ASR does come back later...thats another matter....
J.....my fuzzy brain just remembered the point of my post....i guess it was some spiel of SP in a quoted post in the form of one Ms Suzzana Ghai mentioning how the character is more important than the actor, how Gia manek has been successfully changed and viewers accepting the new girl (i don't know her name)...yada yada...

Quite reconciled with the offscreen drama after Sanaya’s interview.
ReplyDeleteSanaya confirmed what I have been saying for quite a while now.
1. Gul is not a villain. She is very much a loved person, at least by Sanaya. And I liked the sound advice Sanaya gave Gul- ‘she does not have to give out any explanation’. EXCELLENT! Precisely what I have been saying all the while. Just ignore fandom from now on, they don’t deserve your time and energy if this is the end result!
2. Sanaya is not dreaming about leaving IPKKND or 4 Lions. Good decision, girl!
Figureds as much that you wouldn’t want to be caught dead playing a Jeevika, Maanvi, Sandhya, Pankhudi or Ranvi’s mom.
3. There is hope that Barun might return, and the reason for all the offscreen drama is clear now.
4. Barun himself is not sure about his leave- it is ‘INDEFINITE’- as Sanaya and he himself confirmed.
There are about 200 people who work on the show. So, many of them have access to half truths on the show and some of them have IF accounts or give out ‘spoilers’ to their friends.I think Gargi’s source was someone who did not have full info on what was happening. I feel only the major players,- Gul, Sanaya and Barun and a few esteemed others had full access to the behind the scenes drama, the rest were just vaguely aware of it, like I think Kernel or Nishi said.
I don’t think Kernel is GH- the pleading tone in the last post does not match GH’s attitude. It is probably someone else who works with the story, may be close to GH and hence pissed off with the PH or the channel.
And one thing is clear from the spoiler girls, every one on the set is upset that Barun is leavuing, a great majority of the crew feel the show will come to an end, rightfully so.
I think every one including the fans complicated the matters to this level.
And the GGI himself, (Greek god of idiocy- I am so sorry, just this once) made it worse with his interview-.
Why did he hug Gul and say ‘I hope to work with you in future’ as if the decision was final, when Gul had started out he interview in a very hopeful tone, ‘now you are leaving us again...’
And why on earth did he have to talk about people walking up to Pashmeen because they were scared of him? What was the context in this interview?
Now I know why the interview was edited, it would have been more incoherent and confusing if it was not!
So, the bottom line is no one including Barun himself knows whether he is returning, but Sanaya sounds hopeful (at least in the first half that I got to listen to) . Hmm.. Let us see.
I am just happy that things are fine between Sanaya, Barun and Gul which is what I always prayed for.
On to the on screen drama:
DeleteCall it the similarity in the OTT-ness, I was reminded of something from the suicide track during the last week. Back then, when Khushi was watching Kamlesh Khabriji, she nodded her head very vigorously to a question he asked, “Kya aapk koi apne jaal mein phasaa raha hai?”, and replied, “phasa chukaa hai”
Something in the conversation that happened around then gave me the impression that Khushi was aware of the disparity between ASR and her in terms of their social status. She seemed to be wondering, “why on earth did he choose to marry a poor girl like me?”. Ofc, it was a very CONVENIENT thought then since they wanted Khushi to think up the kundali thought.
Setting aside the nonsense of the suicide track, wouldn’t Khushi really wonder? That was a time when she had not connected the dots, that he loved her – that realisation came when he was kidnapped. But I feel that thought is valid now, in this track- as a part of her insecurity.
How did Khushi start up on this journey of proving her worth?
It started with the differences in their parenting techniques. Arhi had a simple mundane fight on who was right, and they both went overboard.
Arnav reminded her of the disparity between them, (if we felt she was putting words in his mouth, it was her sense of inequity that led her to), and it fuelled that sense of insecurity that was buried deep within.
Khushi did not take it in her stride either, she retorted with her jabs on how he was helpless in so many situations and she was the one who saved him. Now that awoke the monster of ego that was lying low for quite some time in Arnav, the ASR in him woke up and he had the last word in the argument. He realised later, ‘kuchh zyyada hi bol diya’, but she was not in a mood to forgive him. He had aroused the tigress in her- the ego of Khushi.
Now what does tigress Khushi do usually? Unfortunately, she is ‘darti hai par karti hai’ always.
One moment she is all geared up and the next moment diffidence creeps in. She is not sure if she can do it. Arnav knows he has hurt her and tries to help- tries to get her to the office- but that backfires. He ended up making her feel humiliated. She decides to go ahead with her plan and the rest of tha family is firmly behind her. They want to help her out in their own way-1. mami with the make up (Khushi did it to let mami feel better, not because she was impressed with mami’s make up sense- as was evident in the wink she shared with NK),- 2. nani wants to teach her to dance(Nani thinks she is an expert since she is classically trained, which Khushi is not and she happily accepts the tutelage of a trained dancer)-3. Anjali is ready to dress up her sister- in –law.
Now what will Arnav think about this Mrs. India contest?
I think it depends on who he is- If he is Arnav, he will offer her support; if he is ASR, he will not be too happy about it.
Coming on to the precap: Arnav is offering a private office for her to start her business. He is being very thoughtful.
But is this what Khushi wanted? She has already refused the offer to work alongside him, had told him very clearly that she needs to FIND HER IDENTITY HERSELF. Will she accept this offer when her dreams are set on something else already, even if the contest is something she is not comfortable with?
And if she turns him down,how will he take it?
Listened to Sanaya's whole interview- she talked about the positive energy in the sets, which I agree with.

He doesn't seem very happy about the firm co hosting with AR designs. And he has handed over the responsibility to Aman- I am smelling a business rival here!

There, Anjali has said it. Khushi is going to be Mrs. India!?
