Episode was not as good as yesterday because things happened in complete fast forward mode. Too fast!!!
Plus after the shower of Arhi yesterday, today was a bit of a drought
A tiny Arh scene .. continuation of yesterday, love followed by teasing ...
Sheetal drama shifts to living room.
Akash returns from office ... joins the list of people who need a haircut.
Set up for Payash exit ... Akash has to shift to America where Mamaji shifted a few months ago ... Payal will accompany him. Why does Mamiji have to stay back? Because her bones feel cold. And because two people cannot run the show for the remaining few weeks.
Khushi-Payal sweet farewell ... sweet but very short.
Arnav goes to his poolside garden ... where Arav is busy gardening ... and his dimaag ki batti finally lights ... how is the boy so much like him?
Buddy, your whole family has been screaming themselves hoarse about the resemblance ... didn't you hear them? Or maybe you never listen to them ... that's how you stay sane!
And Arnav doesn't have to do much work at all to find out the truth, because a very disappointed little boy, who was longing for his father to acknowledge him, spills the beans ... you don't love me, you don't want me to stay here, mom told me so.
Arnav remembers that Sheetal didn't want to tell Arav he was Arnav's son, so then did she tell him? Why?
And Arav tells him why ... because mom told him not to.
Arnav feels bad ... so this is his son after all ... Sheetal was telling the truth ...
And Arav continues ... Mom told me that you left me in the ashram ... she came to meet me because she loves me, but you never came because you hate me ... she told me how to behave so that you would love me ...
Nope, Sheetal wasn't telling the truth ... she got the boy from an ashram? And she told Arnav it was all from a drunken night ...
In the meantime there is a hopeful little boy to take care of ... and a promise to be made.
And Sheetal's true colors are finally out ... just like that.
So Arnav plans outings for Arav ... father and son ... Sheetal has to stay a few days ... and Sheetal is satisfied, her plan worked. Arnav plans a party for Payash farewell.
Khushi is annoyed and jealous at Arnav's attention to Sheetal ... kid is all right, but Arnav had better not have plans for the mother as well!
Arnav helps Sheetal up to her room ... tells Sheetal he will make it up to her ...
Khushi is suspicious and jealous again ... Sheetal told Arnav a joke, in English. And he's smiling.
Buaji and Garima arrive to say farewell to Payash ... Khushi is making jalebis ... she doesn't like Arnav's attention to Sheetal at all.
Sweet Payal - Buaji-Garima scene .. Buaji doesn't like Sheetal. She doesn't look majboor And Khushi is jealous and insecure again ...
Arav gets hurt ... Sheetal doesn't bother ... Khushi is confused. How can a mother be so unconcerned?

really for a person who used to joke about people getting addicted to fictional characters...i have eaten humble pie many times over...
when this off-screen drama had started, i had prayed...show any crap, any utter nonsense but don't show sheetal walkin out into the sunset with arnav.....that hopefully is getting fulfilled..never expected this story to go on and on esp since all potentially viable tracks were abruptly ended..well...despite all that i have enjoyed this journey...OBV this journey has been magical that despite the many flaws...we can remember its sweetness

DeleteI have loved every single Arnav_payal scene ( yes they were few and far between..but there has been something special in that jet-bhabhi relationship that even in the unspoken moments tat were always calling attention to it...BS and Deepali ( with her reserved nature that she played to perfection) did full justice to that bond....
i recall the very first instance.....right from the one after the GH incident....the fiery Payal confronting ASR...i thot it will set the tone....it did in a rather special way...how would i describe it reverent, respectful, dignified, trustworthy...maybe i saw more than was intended...but i guess IPK has been about that...what J would call power of suggestion....

Felt like IPK is bouncing back- regardless of the offscreen drama. Or are they just wrapping it up nicely? Whatever it is, I am loving it.

I presume Sheetal thinks that Barun will pay her maintenence or compensation for looking after his kid all these years, and for keeping away from him and Khushi in the future, giving up claim to her child. Pata nahin ... I'm sure this was a last minute change due to all the off screen drama, and they haven't really thought it out properly.

AND Sheetal is out and out black! somebody plz clarify, wasnt there a precap before a break, where sheetal talks with some one on fone, the ashram walas i think, then she cuts the call and screen freezes when she abruptly looks up... did i imagine this?? or did they show it and i missed...
anyway, Akshay and Deepali, i'll miss you! such a sweet send off for Payash! so heart touching!

I think Gul is now under major pressure from the channel, that's all the sense I get from the various posts ... now whether that pressure translates into shutting the show down or carrying it on but with a modified version of what Gul wanted to show ... that we don't know yet.
DeleteGul's plan of sending Arnav off into the sunset with Sheetal has definitely been shot down ... maybe the new entry for Khushi will also be shot down. But then what will they show? Unless BS really does agree to come back after his 'break', and Gul changes the story to make the new entry a villain, and not for Khushi after all.

Deepali has great chemistry with Barun. Every single time their scenes click. I am left with desiring more. So many relations and aspects could have been explored. *sigh*

Yes Sam....absolutely....i remember that phone call that she made to Arnav durin that pag phere scene...it was only a phone call and obviously the content of the call was more important but just the way Arnav says "Payal"..i don't knwo, maybe i am delusional...the undercurrents of that relationship was so visible as if he will take every word she says seriously....and she will always reserve a special affection for him (woh aise nahin hain jaise humne socha tha) ..something borne out of that first encounter at GH and later his apology to her ....never explored but the nuances so beautifully delivered by BS_Deepali

I was very sad that no one commented on my rambles in yday post. But taht aside I want to go wring someone's neck because they seem to be stealing all the good work on the blog and not even bothering with a R&R slip up from NK.
Maiden post on IF was not too bad so happy about it. Chalo I have been commenting on IF, called people weepy bahus on F32 so today dropped my tippani mail to Star too. Muft main itni consultancy I have never done in my entire life.
Tuned in to the latest updates and dont want it to end when I am travelling. Dia wonder where on FB you were trawling, I got all jibberish today but thanks for the summary update yday.
Small mercies that ASR going off with ex-gf is out of the window. They are shooting on the day of telecast I think. I will miss Payal and Akash, they have been silent yet such an integral part of the story.

Sandy, read them, loved them ... was caught up in all the offscreen drama, so just didn't get into the mood to reply. Pity, because Thuesday's episode was so good. Friday was okay for me ... I prefer the subtle understated IPKKND, the too obvious is not so much fun. The off screen stuff really spoiled it ... I will re-watch the episodes of last week again on Monday to get the full flavour.
DeleteFB - I was in a closed group, where we were getting some updates ... but obviously no one knows anything of what is happening, everyone is busy spinning their own stories! Till last night when I went to bed, news was that the show is going to shut down ... I woke up in the morning and the news is that it's staying very much on air!
So am not going there now ... trying to stay away like we used to and just concentrate on the onscreen stuff. Vaise bhi, AD has enough drama, don't need to add that of people completely unrelated to me or my life!
The only thing I am glad off is that they shot down the ASR going off with Sheetal ... thank god wiser sense prevailed.
Now that the show is gong to stay on air, there are only two obvious ways they can take the story forward IMO, since the Arshi jodi has become iconic ... either ASR disappears in an accident, presumed dead, new guy enters and falls for Khushi, she is in mourning for Arnav and takes over as CEO of AR ... BS returns after two months, and they resume where they left off ... maybe build a new story with ego clashes between husband and wife because both are in the same field. Frankly, I don't see much future ahead with this.
or ASR returns earlier, either with plastic surgery, or not even that, just with a note saying ASR will now be played by XYZ. Again, this means they have to build a completely new story, because Arshi have got their happily ever after.
The second alternative is a leap ... Arnav Khushi go for honeymoon, on the way back accident happens, ASR disappears, presumed dead, Khushi in mourning, gives birth to her baby girl and dies, baby is brought up by Anjali ... We get Sanaya as Arshi's daughter and a brand new love story for her. The only thing is I don't know whether Daljeet will want to play mother to a grown up girl. If she is staying on at all ... rumors are that even she wants to leave. Which would fit if they are planning a leap.
The only certain thing in all this mess is that BS is definitely taking off for about two months.
Now whether he wanted out himself - as his detractors claim, or whether he was forced out by Gul for whatever reason, as his fans claim ... no one knows, apart from PH, SP and the man himself. And Sanaya and the rest of the cast, of course. The fact that Sanaya is staying on and has been a big part of the negotiations indicates that her decision was central to this whole thing ... if she has agreed to stay on, means that as Gargs reported, the show will change and become Khushi-centric ... there is no other way she might have agreed.
Or she is also under pressure to stay ... she is contracted to the channel and might not have too much choice in the matter. Channel is too big, and she has decided TV is her career, plus her boyfriend is also contracted to the same channel, they can't afford to antagonise them at all. And her fan following is pretty big as well, and maybe SP and PH might feel she can take it forward ... she did for six weeks, after all, and she played more or less a lone hand. So the next 2-3 months will be a sounding board of sorts ... if the new guy can make a mark, then they will keep the show going, if he can't, then they will shut down.
Forgot in all that rambling ... have a good trip, Sandy! And try to keep dipping in here when you can!

Btw when I wrote to Star, I mentioned Sanaya's decision mattering and gave them good on how a No.1 entertainment channel with nayi soch should have some resposibilities rather than be like th fictional news chanel is the movie "rann" - a dark reflection of the media.
I am with you. She is quite on account of her contract and someone threatening her about Mohit's how. Recall when DB threw tantrums, she quietened down aroun the time her hubby's show got notice.
Ya I recall all crap stuff like this - analyst by profession and mentally cannot stop joining dots.
Si will indeed be very lonely without any cheer. I thought a leap would be a good thing too but then they bring in a more elderly actor for DB and keep SI alone from the original cast. New PH, New love story. Same pinch on thinking Arnav falls into the Thames on his return from honeymoon.
What angers me is that all these smart alecs think we have no brains. Forget who saod what but rants /outburst and voltefaces are quite telling. Besides I am sure one week later the tunes will change.
In Titanic when the ship is known to begin sinking the captain sends all his juniors to save themselves. Yahaan to the captains are the first ones to save themselves.

Always knew Arnav will not go away with Sheetal and bitiya will not have a new love interest. Gul is not a fool- read she is not EK.
But this tribute thing... I have full faith in bitwa and bitiya, but Gul and Barun...I hope both come to their senses- they better, if they know what is good for them.
There is so much that can be done in Barun's absence. Don't husbands leave their wives and go abroad for one or two years immediately after marriage? Don't their love stories bloom?
C'mon, Gul, take this up as a challenge and show us you can do this.
Let us see, sweetie, you have 2 options.
1. Let Barun go for a break and come back.
2. Shut the show down now.
2 is not going to help you in any way. People are going to massacre you.
Go for op 1.That way, even if you mess up the track, the blame can always fall on Barun. And when he gets back, you can get on with the love story. Is it that difficult to get a filler track?
And you can keep the long distance romance alive too. There are so many options nowadays. Every 1 or 2 days, Khushi can get a love quote on her mobile, remember LG with fondness. With those quotes she can revisit the past episodes at the rate of 1 month of IPK covered per 1 week- so much more can be done on Khushi's realisation- and I know you guys will make it epic!
And Barun can take his vest wherever he is going and speak into a handycam- It will take hardly 10 minutes of his time- ASR conversing through skype every second or third episode. Just give him some great dialogues.
Anjali and nani can tease Khushi, you can create some other drama to while away time at RM or now with Akash gone, K has to follow ASR's orders at the office- meet Aman....so many things can be done.
Gul, Please don't end the show on an unhappy note off screen, on screen- I trust you with Arhi. Khushi is your baby and we have all learned a lot about forgiveness from her. All those noble thoughts can be put in to practice now. PLEEEEEJ...I beg you.

DeleteYou do not know me at all. I have been visiting this blog for a grand total of 2 hours now - I guess you could call me an R and R virgin. I LOVED your suggestions. I trust Arnav babua and Khushi bitiya too. But please NO PLASTIC SURGERY and other Bold and the Beautifulesque tracks.
Cannot IPKKND have seasons? Like so far has been Season 1 and the next part of the jouney (with a hopefully better looking and feeling BS) could be Season 2 and let the romance continue.

LOVED the last two episodes....but I totally cannot just focus on the storyline and ignore the offscreen drama that's going on when I KNOW the reason for the abrupt changes in storyline.. makes it difficult for me to view the STORY per say, especially since its nothing unique at all.. blast from the past and a flase illegitimate child are such done deals that there's nothing remotely interesting abt it..the only thing keeping me hooked is how Sanaya is SaRun emoting Arhi.. and yes, even I felt that there was a renewed kind of interest in BS' eyes in the last couple of episodes..now whether this is because his leave/break was finally approved or whether they have convinced him to stay on for a better storyline I don't know..
ReplyDeleteas of now, if the only thing 100% confirmed is that BS is taking a break for two months, then I have the following scenarios is mind IF they plan to carry on the show -
1. In the final showdown, it is revealed to aarav that sheetal is not his real mom after all, he is just another anath.. sheetal takes off, arnav has an accident and disappears and aarav is left all alone... khushi adopts him and raises him, making her complete her life to a full circle, where she was adopted into a new family and now she will adopt another anath in the similar situation.. the story can proceed after a leap of some yrs where they could get a 20 yr old something guy playing aarav singh raizada and khushi managing the AR business... they could begin with a new lve story for aarav and some new girl and then depending on whether BS wants to come back or not, they could show ArHi reuniting after such a long break or then bring in a new guy for khushi... who is completely unlike ASR, but still manages to charm khushi's heart and she is fighting with her past memories of arnav...
this way ArHi remains intact, BS can have his break or leave whatever he wants and show can become khushi/Sanaya centric.. :)
2. Second scenario is that aarav and sheetal both take off and then it is revealed khushi is pregnant (come on, they must have done it atleast a dozen times, at this rate in normal tellyworld they would have been blessed with an entire cricket team.. :P) ... while at the same time, ASR disappears in an accident.. she gives birth to a lovely baby girl, but there are some complications and she dies during delivery..so the young girl is raised by either the Raizadas (depending on whether the cast wants t stay on) or in a completely new family in a completely new environment... the story takes a leap, grown up daughter of Arhi is ofcourse Sanaya and then IF BS is planning to come back, he can be the new guy for the daughter and their story proceeds..
fans bhi khushi..PH bhi khushi.. but how will they proceed with the daughter for two months I have no idea...
and if BS doesn't plan to come, then a completely new love story...
In either case, the story could only go on without BS if they take a leap...be it even for 5 yrs or so.. else it makes no sense..
I honestly don't think its a break for BS...its quitting, coz there's nothing as break...no PH or channel would allow it..
as for Sanaya, I can understand why she wants to stay on if its not under channel pressure... thats her source of income and now that Mohit is also working with star they could both be benefitted by it..plus I remember mohit saying in some interview that they'll probably get married in a yr's time.. so if that's the case, ofcourse she would not leave her source of income.. :)
All said and done, even if show shuts down, I don't think it will be all that difficult for Sanaya and Barun to find a new job (Barun already has his movies).. coz IPK has taken them to new heights of popularity...I don't think they'll be sitting at home for more than 6 months.. :)

First of all, what happens when BS comes back? Do Arshi have any story left at all? They are happily married, the past is taken care of, Khushi's past has not been explored and it doesn't seem it will be ...
The Sheetal track would have been good if it had gone on to Dhruv Singh Raizada making an appearance, Sheetal disappearing and then BS going on break so Arnav disappearing ... they can run it for 2 months while BS takes his break, even give a small leap of 6 months to a year, where Khushi has taken over AR, DSR is helping but he has his own agenda ...
and you have a conflict between Dhruv and ASR when he finally returns - either over the business - which 4lions cannot handle, ...
or over Khushi, which again would work only if Khushi started getting close to Dhruv before Arnav returned ... and do you think fandom will let that happen?!
So not happening! Or doubtful!
Other option - like you said, a leap ... Sanaya as Arshi's daughter and a new guy for her ... either BS when he returns, but then what to do for those two months? Or a new guy completely ...
In which case why not just a new show?
My reasoning is -
PH has lost interest in the show. That seems clear, I am not going just by BS leaving, but also AD, DP and most importantly GH - yes, we know he's a bit of an idiot, but he's been with the show from the start, and with Nissar too. If HE is leaving, to my mind there is something definitely wrong with the cv team. So they are not going to plan any great storyline.
Channel - SP has sold endorsements, must be for at least 2-3 months, if not more. In the Dubai feed which I get, there are a whole new list of ads coming, one major sponsor Sanford has BS/SI/NK and Anjali in the actual ad in scenes from IPK. So SP cannot shut the show for a few months - don't know how long.
Sanaya stays on because she is contracted with the channel, she has not much choice, and they will then guarantee her a new show after this one, for keeping the ship afloat as long as she can - they would have legal issues with sponsors if they just shut the show down.
So channel tells Sanaya to stay on, and the remaining cast, maybe they will bring in a new guy and see the response, maybe they will use NK ... it is marking time. If they use NK, then they will shut down soon for sure. If they bring in a new guy, it's to test the waters, and also to give BS his break ... like you, I'm skeptical about that one, who takes an indefinite break in the middle of his daily show?! And which employer allows it?
So it's basically to test the waters ... if it flies, the show goes on, if it doesn't, then they shut it down whenever the next show is ready to take its place ... that might be another reason for keeping this one going for a while longer.
But my feeling is, the channel and BS/SI are done with the PH, the show is on air as long as the channel needs to mark time and get a new one ready ... then it will end. And Sanaya will definitely get another show with SP, for nothing else then for staying on in the middle of so much crap! Because if SHE also leaves, then TRP's will be 0! They might as well just air re-runs.

Or being smarter, he wanted to keep his feet in both boats, but Gul got upset because it was getting difficult to plan tracks around his leaves ... hence she forced him to leave.
I might believe that and sympathise to an extent also - BUT for the fact that GH is leaving and also AD and DP. That forces me to believe Barun's side more, that PH has lost interest and is using him as a convenient scapegoat.

I was thinking about Abhaas. He is the luckiest of the lot. He has well defined tracks which ensures he gets his break at the end of a track. Barun cannot have that luxury since he is the led and the show has benn written only for ASR and Khushi. I have always maintained that the other 2 characters who have any importance at all is Shyam (I put him down third as the villain) and Anjali.
The sad part for Dogra is that he had only one good track- Payash romance. I feel a smart writer would have sent Akash off to US somewhere in the middle of the hate marriage and thought up a new Payash track linked to Arhi after the kidnap. Say, Payash honeymoon over- a little bit of distance between them- Payal falls sick (Yes, inspired by Maanvi, but IPK can make it better)- Akash's guilt and fear of losing his love- Khushi stays by Jiji- Akash understands K better- thanks her- Khushi neglects ASR- he does not mind- jiji points it out- K apologetic- ASR says her jiji is important for him too.
Khushi's makeover- may be Lavanya could be back, the two friends exchange notes on how La's engagement broke...La slowly moulding K to fit into ASR's world.
They could give a beautiful view of a man, his wife and his ex- a wonderful contrast to Sheetal there.
K has to reconcile dadi with the family.
All the loops are open have to be closed.
I agree the show cannot go on forever- I always thought IPK will end by june. And I guess ever since I told myself that I have been prepared for the show ending.
But I don't want it to end like this- with an ugly fight offscreen, a blame game...
1. If Barun wants a break, let him take it. End the show if he does not want to come back.
He is working harder than any other telly actor. Sanaya has a personal life too, but I guess the pressures from family and profession will be less for her.
2. SP clearly wants the show to go on- for the revenue and fame it has.
3. PH- They already let Barun take leave for the movie. I totally agree this is an unfair demand he is making. But they should acknowledge that he has worked very hard. If the PH puts their pride and anger( a lot of it is because of the constant basing they get from the fans too) aside, they can think of a filler track for 2 months(OMG! 3weeks- 6 weeks- now it is 2 months!) with Barun shooting in between.
It is like any busines. IPK is still viable. If they plan the story for the next 6 months with a neat ending, everyone will be happy. But SP should also be willing to let go at the end of 6 months.
I did not want to write so much, I'll just highlight what I wanted to say in the first place.
Compare Abhaas, Dogra and Barun. Who got the maximum benefit with the least effort?
Life is not fair. Dogra had a very bad deal.
Barun has had a very good deal, but he had to work really hard. That is why I support his demand for a leave totally- he has given 101 % to the show.

DeleteI agree DP and AD leaving now - their timing is coincidental, because both gave in their notice over a month ago, DP even longer and she was persuaded to stay back.
But look at it this way - WHY did they give in their notices? They have been around and available for shooting all along, they have been like wallflowers. The PH never used them - they don't even have the excuse that they were not available, because they WERE available, they were very much there. How frustrating for them to land up every single day, put on costume and makeup and then just act as furniture?
Look at QH, they have some scenes on the different members of the family all the time ... the same way that they did in IPK at the start.
Secondly, and more important in my view - Gautam Hegde leaving. This guy has been associated with Nissar since MJHT and I think even DMG, why would he leave and write that extremely bitter letter about tracks changing, supporting tracks not being given the nod when they were presented - it's not that they weren't thought about. That is why I changed my mind about the PH ... till now I also found it very difficult to believe that they would deliberately commit harakiri with SP, for a show on Zee. But it seems Gul has a big ego after all.
I don't agree about Barun having to work harder than Sanaya ... she had more dialogues, more scenes, more variety of emotion and more crappy scenes than Barun any day. And she did them more convincingly - Barun has looked disinterested in his work for quite a while, Sanaya has put in her best effort all along. Even with the rubbish she was given to do.
He is working harder than any other telly ACTOR - that part I do agree with - no other actor has so much presence, they're mostly wallflowers or maa ka laadlas. He's the only one who had a proper character.
Agree that Dogra had a bad deal, agree that Abhaas was lucky ... he got proper tracks, more than his fair share of brains and a decent send off.
Barun had a very good deal, and he worked very hard. His character was polar opposite of what he was in real life, so doubly hard.
Sanaya did exactly the same in her last show - she played polar opposite to what she really is in real life. That's acting - if you can play something you are NOT. SO for me, in acting terms, he is as good as Sanaya - which is saying a lot, coming from me :))) Both in terms of talent and hard work.
I still like Sanaya better though ;) just saying :)
He IS getting rewarded, he had the benefit of an author-backed role, he got the recognition, he now is getting BW offers and a chance to chase his dream.
So not only leave, I support his decision to quit if he wants to. I said the same thing back in May - he was being unfair to try to sail in two boats, unfair to IPK but playing safe for himself. Now I have more respect for him - he's taking a risk for himself and he's playing fair by the show - he's making a clean break. Whether it's break or quit, but he's being upfront - 2-3 months gives them the option to check out a new character, a new lead and see if it works. If it does, am sure he will be the first one to wish the show well. If it doesn't, and his movie plans don't work out, am equally sure SP will pressure the PH to take him back. That's why he's not burning his bridges with SP or PH.

In a way, i do feel i perhaps saw more that was intended or maybe i gave them too much credit(that was meanie me!! ok that was some deserved back-handed praise for the girls here....perhaps a little for me too for making up things that weren't meant to be!!)
Personally, the serial cannot show anyone else walking out into the sunset with Arnav except Khushi.....but i am not the one who is responsible for SP's bottomline, or BArun's career decisions or for that matter Gul's creative choices. All parties concerned have their own viewpoints and if they are sticking by it....that means those aspects are important to them, whichever way u look at them
SP runs a business...for it to be viable..they remain responsible to take decisions that affect their bottomline
Barun is an actor,but his career choices cannot be governed by fan sentiments alone.
The PH had put out their story,why would they like their sweat and toil be taken over by a competitor....and well if they say the have run the course...they must know best...

i will not watch if Arnav walks out with Sheetal.....why such strong views...only becos i was madly attached to the story..Its a love story damnit!!
Also the story ends for me if Arnav is not there becos i saw this as Arnav's story...(in a way Barun as Arnav too...becos he effectively translated Arnav for me to an extent where i cannot accept any other Arnav)
To make this Khushi's story from here on without Arnav(BArun) or a diff Arnav is a gamble that the channel can take, it may not work but then it could work too!!the creative world is a strange place....

How can BS return as the love interest of Khushi's daughter. Wouldn't it be too much of a co-incidence if the love interest looks like the father of the girl?
ReplyDeleteIf at all BS were to return after a leap which factors in Khushi's daughter, he can only play the father of the grown up girl, which I doubt Barun would like to play.
So I don't see them taking the generational leap with Arshi's daughter being played by Sanaya, if there is any hope of Barun returning. If they do adopt this storyline then I'm sure Barun has really quit and 'taking a break' is a euphemism for quitting.
I quite like mads idea of Khushi adopting aarav and raising him but will Sanaya want to play the mother of a grown up boy?
I personally would like to see Akaash's evil brother, Dhruv return and take over the ASR empire after Arnav disappears and is presumed dead. The clash between Khushi and Dhruv can be shown for two months till BS makes up his mind whether to return or not.
Opti, I like your last option the best ... but only IF BS is going to return at all. Because I still don't want the Arnav-Khushi story spoiled with a second love interest for Khushi. And if he doesn't return, then they would have to progress the story with Khushi then falling for Dhruv. Or if the love story doesn't take off, then they would have to end the show on a sad note.
DeleteBut if the second love story finds any takers, then that would give the cv's a whole new love story to play with, and we've seen this PH is only good for the falling in love stage ... after that, it falters big time. Seeing that the PH is totally absorbed with their new baby, I don't even know how much attention they would pay to this one any more - they might just think it's a losing proposition from the word go, and treat it as badly as they have been the last few months. All the focus on Sanaya and the new guy, no parallel actors are left on the show anyway ... how long can the show go on? Unless this is already understood between the PH and the channel, that this is only for the next few months till they are legally free to wind up the show - they must also be having to give some kind of notice period to the crew.
But I totally agree, I don't think either Sanaya or Barun would agree to play parents of grown up kids ... why should they? They've been part of the biggest love story on TV ... it would be far better for them to stay that age. If there is a leap, they return singly or together as the younger generation, not stay on as the older one.

DeleteMy personal belief is that IPKKND is only biding time till Feb 2012. I have a feeling that the Sanjay Leela Bansali's show may be replacing IPK, if it is ready by then. The channel wants viewers to remain hooked to the show. Hence the ambivalence about Barun's continuance on the show. As long as they dangle the carrot of Barun's return (which I suspect will not happen), they can hope that die-hard fans will stick to the show even when he is not there.
I doubt the new entrant will be a love interest for Khushi. Arnav's gifting the catering service company to Khushi should mean something. So the new entrant will serve the purpose of ousting Khushi out of RM and Khushi making her life without Arnav's money but his goodwill in the form of the registered company. She may be then shown to make enough money to challenge the new guy's position in AR designs. The new guy may fall for Khushi but I doubt she would reciprocate. Just before winding up they may get Arnav in a couple of episodes to give a proper closure for the show and the happily ever after scenario. If Barun is not available then it may just end on how Khuhsi always remained faithful to her husband's memory.
Opti, I feel exactly the same way. This is a stopgap arrangement for 2-3 months, just as long as the next show is ready to go on air. It will be bad enough watching Khushi alone for the next 2-3 months - we already did that during the kidnapping, but then Barun was shown at least once a week, and more in fb's. And now there are literally no men left in the cast! If they show Khushi's tussle with a new guy, then some interest can be generated and then close with either Barun coming back for the last few episodes, or ending the show with Khushi's death to join Arnav, and maybe Arav taking over AR.

From what I understand SP has the veto power, but I guess the PH has to take it till them. And going by the way SP okays all kinds of rubbish tracks in their other serials, I don't think even one track that the IPK team had to offer would be rejected. Having said that, I really want to reserve my judgenent on Gul wanting to end the show for QH.
We all know the reason for Barun's leave- it is not because he feels the story is going for a toss. He himself has clearly said that 'he is taking a deserving break'- the ball seems to be in his court.
Gul has only 2 options.
1. Reject his demand and close the show or
2. Accommodate his leave request.
Remember, the last time Barun took leave, actually he got bashed the least. The CVs had to bear the brunt of it and the very sweet thing then was that the PH never spoke a word against Barun. They kept his leave a secret and projected it as extended by bits. Ofc, they had the private agenda of not wanting to produce mass hysteria in IF which could negatively affect the show. And in the end, I fel the CVs were blamed more than the actor. Yes, I remember it was a tough time to watch IPK.
So now, I wonder if the PH s right in wanting to expose Barun's leave plans- they don't have to take the blame any more.
And Barun is being absolutely fair by agreeing that the leave is for personal reasons. So far, he has not bitched about the PH or the story line- speaks a lot about his professionalism and personalty- I hope it remains the same.
I never intended to compare Barun and San.
If Sanaya was married, I feel she will have more pressures in her work field- speaking from personal experience- once you are married, those carefree days are over. Till then you are a freebird.
With marriage, however understanding your partner is,you will have to find that extra time for family...I hope that is at least part of Barun's reason for leave.
Between Gul and Barun, I think it is the usual tussle between an employee and an employer.No employer will happily give you time off especially when you are one of the main pillars. But don't we all put our foot down and say, "Enough! I need a break!"? If you are the employer, the employee is not fair in asking for so much time off and if you are the employee, the boss is just not understanding.
One of them has to give in.
QH is not the only show the PH is doing. They are doing Arjun in SP and Surveen Guggal with V(which is owned by Star I think). I don't think the PH will be stupid to kill off a show just like that and ruin whatever remains of their credibility. That'd be equivalent to professional suicide- any bachha also will know this.
And right from the beginning of Sheetal track we were reassured that the kid is not ASR's, so I don't think it is a case of Gul being pressurised to not send ASR with Sheetal. I find it quite believable that ASR was never supposed to go off with Sheetal.

The tracks were certainly changed after slapgate mostly becos of the DKS-DB drama...and fans misunderstanding the whole track.
If only Gul's PR team had the ability to communicate or allay fears on what the story was leading to...it would have been atleast 3-4 months of masala...
The fans misunderstood it to be a di vs Khushi for Arnav matter when in fact it was to be strain of Arnav balancing his twin priorities laced with a conflict on one side and love, duty on the other..It would have made for a powerful viewing if only they had been able to communicate to the stakeholders well enuf...bulk of fans fears would have been assuaged if they had been quietened with few rabba ves and some romantic scenes...which anyways the track afforded.
But i guess...by then the interest in the story itself had evaporated for Gul, she was just going thru the motions and it reflected in every track after that...

I was talking about the parallel tracks for Payash and the rest getting rejected...who said no to it? Well, Babli and chameli ka tel found their way to the screen, did they write up something worse? What did GH mean by parallel tracks being rejected? The few ones they had were just not amalgamated with the rest of the story- it looked like two appendages- in itself could have been better with at least some Arhi connection. Like, Babli had only one introductory scene with Khushi...shame on them! They could have done better.
Chameli also was a good idea, but there was no finesse in it...

It mentions that tracks were changed overnight. He mentions that supporting characters became mere props.
It mentions the letter on the 4lions new forum, Forum32, which said that the show has run its course. And how hurt he was to read that.
How authentic? Don't know. But we got news of one big spoiler before all the spoiler devis of IF did ... and our source is completely reliable - our dearest Padfoot ... so we know that plans were already on for ASR's exit. And not only exit, to destroy ASR's character in the bargain, by making him into a playboy and leave with a vamp. Thankfully wiser sense prevailed - hopefully the channel's decision and that was changed last minute.
Did Barun decide to put in his papers because he got wind of this track, or did he put in his papers because he got fed up of the don't care attitude of the makers? And bear in mind, this guy managed to shoot for his movie and show simultaneously, he can surely manage promotion and shooting simultaneously as well, and he won't be such a fool as to leave before the movie releases and he sees the response.
Then why did he put in his papers two months ago?
1- To renegotiate his contract. Leading to ego problem with Gul - she made ASR, he was obliged to her, not the other way around. He had no business to demand more, she had made him a star overnight.
2- He wanted more time off for promotions, Gul didn't want to give it to him.
3- He saw that the show was going nowhere because of Gul's new baby, he had stuck on because of loyalty, but he saw that the maker herself was not interested any more. Hence he felt it was time to move on ... gave her two months to find a replacement. More ego battle with Gul ... how dare he leave before she was ready to let him go.
4- He WAS getting other offers, maybe movies ... he had already taken time off once, Gul was unhappy at the thought of him taking any time off again ... so to be fair to the PH and the show, better to leave. Especially in the light of no.3 above.
1, 2 and part of 3 explain the rumors that Gul was "forcing" him to leave.
3 and 4 explain why he gave his notice himself before all the rumors started.
What is the truth ... I don't know! Probably a mix of all the above ... but that's why said that it does seem that Gul has lost interest in the show, and that is the root cause of all the dissatisfaction.

Yeah, there is no reason to disbelieve Kernel. It seems like a neutral post.
I feel this. The actors don't get to know what the tracks are in advance. So, I don't think it was the track which caused Barun to give notice. He has firmly stated that he deseves a break- meaning he ia willing to come back after a break. But the PH will not hear of it.( I don't know why. See how Gurmeet was let off for jhalak. The PH managed it so well- though I don't watch the show regularly, never did I feel his absence)
2. Kernel's last line points fingers at Gul- busy with her new baby!
If this is true, and not just an overtly sensitive 'baby' GH venting out (seriously, one thing the post lacked was maturity- a hallmark of GH tweets!)...Gul needs to get her HEAD CHECKED.
Also, shouldn't she be losing her credibility with SP for this. But SP has not said anything about the PH in open yet. They seem to be keeping a respectful distance with each other.
3. Notably, SP has tweeted in favour of the PH it seems. They have clearly indicated it is entirely up to Barun. Now why'd they do that when they have the UK show coming up?
It all boils down to one thing for me.
Does Barun know what he is doing?
He had given his notice 2 months back, so he is justified in quitting. Won't he earn the ill will of the PH and the channel?
I can understand if he wants to experiment, explore new avenues- all of us are entitled to make these decisions about our life, without any outside interference- even if it is a STUPID DECISION he is making.
I guess a true Barun fan'd support him through thick and thin, so I will continue to love Barun, even if he seemingly has not learned that lesson on professionalism (he owes it to the viewers) from San.
My biggest prayer is that their friendship is not affected by all this.
Yes, kernal seems to be GH, and he is the guy who said 'dekhna hai toh dekho'. He is a bit of an idiot and a fair weather friend ... he used to be very pally with Rati Pandey in MJHT days, RP had a fallout with her PH, and Monaya came into favour, he distanced himself from RP and became best buddies with Monaya!
DeleteThat's why I said, the root cause does seem to be Gul and her new baby. And as I said ages ago, Gul and PH didn't realise how HUGE a craze Arshi would become ... they lost control of their story because of that. Hence their concentration on QH, hoping on a smaller channel with not such a good female lead, the concentration will stay on the story of the two brothers, not the love story. And the female lead not being good is not merely my bias, many posts on the QH forum also say the same thing. ;)
Barun giving his notice - yes, he didn't know the upcoming tracks, in fact as far as we know, Sheetal was brought in as an exit track ...
OR maybe she was signed up to be a repeat BFTP, Barun gave in his papers and they changed her to become his exit track.
But as for not knowing scripts, yes ... but actors can see when the scripts are getting less tight and unconvincing ... they are all good friends, they could see that Daljeet, Akshay, Deepali were getting sidelined and had nothing to do ... I remember Barun laughing that one day after divorce, family is going for a movie ... you could see he found it stupid.
I always said Barun would be a fool to quit before his movie released ... that's what all producers wait for before they make any offers, especially to a new actor. Heck, even Hrithik Roshan never got any offers till his first movie was a hit.
So I really can't think why he put in his papers - was it just to re-negotiate his terms, because he WAS getting less than his costar? Was it to also renegotiate his leave - he knew he would need time off for promotion?
OR Was it not really putting in his papers at all, was it just a 'I won't sign the same contract, I want new T&C?' situation, which was 'leaked' as his notice, to make it more damaging for him?
I think he and Sanaya are on the same page ... from what I have seen of Sanaya, she would encourage him to give his dreams a shot if he wants to. She is one of the most generous co-stars, Mohit freely admits that he learned a lot from her, because she went out of her way to help him when he was new.
And if Barun was worried about the storyline, Sanaya must have been too, and if he was fighting about it, she would have been with him ... again from MJHT days, when we heard she, Mohit and Arjun had a huge fight with GH over a stupid track ... but none of them said a word in public, on SBS etc. The only thing surprising is Barun taking it to the stage of leaving the show. Unless the rumors are true and he is actually being forced.

So, in deciding to quit when everything points to his staying on being favourable,i have noticed his rather sangfroid approach about it..., marks him to be a guy who would probably not want all this attention..and would rather focus on doing work that he enjoys rather than the work becoming cause for strife...who wants to work in a atmosphere like that?

Really, even if they seem to be in a hurry, I am enjoying the current IPK. It is like, he could foresee where this was all going, his role just seemed to be increasing more with all the supporting cast gone...means more and more hardwork bearing less fruit for him and San.
I really don't know if Barun will go the Hrithik or SRK way. He is way too simple for that kind of stardom. I find him to be very honest down to earth like Ajay Devgan (for a long time I thought Kajol made a big mistake there, not any more.).
And his movie is not going to be released or promoted on a large scale like KNPH. It looks kind of like an experimental low budget movie. Such kind of movies do throw wonderful surprises and I enjoy them more than the big budget ones.
Barun describes himself as a 'director's actor' and I want him to remain the same- in the mould of the likes of Naseeruddeen Shah and Nana Patekar. I know he is too kachha now, I am hoping and praying he will evolve in to that. Any way, I don't think he can handle stardom, it doesn't look like he wants it either.
So, all the best to darling Barun, though I will miss my daily dose of Arhi.
And a lot of thanks to him for putting an end to this before they started showing all sorts of nonsense.

DeleteIt is not flattering to be called a director's actor. It means much depends on the director in shaping the acting. Naseerudin Shan and Nana patekar would not take it kindly if you bracket them in that category. They are thinking actors who will do justice to any role irrespective of the calibre of the director.
I agree that he cannot handle stardom and doesn't appear to want it as well. He is someone for whom greatness is just thrust upon. He would be content doing what he likes doing, without sacrificing the time with his family, rather than do what others expect of him to achieve, but at the cost of his personal life. I am with him on this one. At the end of the day if you are not happy doing what you do, what is the purpose of all the money and fame?

There have been days in the last mojnth or so that I skipped the epi but same's not true when it comes to reading yoyr blog. AD is pretty challenging, so I use my free time wisely by coming here.

Su - so agree with you, IZpZk is nothing but a step-child to Gul. The cast of QH sucks except KSG but their sets nd the opulence has blown me away. Why treat IPK this way? Sanaya is probably the best looking telly female currently on air but just think about her outfits, they can't get any worse. It makes me so sad.
I've never understood why Barun keeps compliaining about hard work and his need to take breaks, he is only 29 in't he? Hard work is a given if one wants to be successful in whatever you're doing. I don't get the reasoning behind this but I guess I don't know how things ork in telly land.

DeleteGul seems to have an attention deficit disorder ... and a lack of creativity! Her new baby is nothing but a re-hashed version of IPK ... an angsty hero with an unfaithful dad who betrayed his mom, a very dependent sister ... a heroine who has her share of a troubled past, but is chirpy and full of life - annoyingly so! Just goes to show not everyone can play chirpy and bubbly and make it likeable!
And the amount of money the PH has spent on QH ... the bathroom! Compare that to Arnav's ... makes me want to throw something at the screen!
I have also wondered at Barun's statements about that ... he always says he wants to rush home after shoot and spend time with his wife. And his statements that Indian shows should be weeklies, and have season breaks ... the working hours are really long in tellyland, no doubt, but many other fields have equally long hours. The problem is, I guess, no offs for holidays etc ... they really have to find the time.
Plus IPK is worse than many other shows because of the over-dependence on Barun and Sanaya ... the rest of the cast can take time off, and we don't notice, but if Barun and Sanaya are missing for even one episode, all hell lets loose! I notice especially in YRKKH - they have such a huge cast that Naitik and Akshara sometimes just have 1-2 scenes in the entire episode. Don't know about the rest, don't watch anything that closely!
Dia....I have been fuming about the bathroom on QH! And the rest of Asad's home.....not to talk of the other big haveli.....Let them hope to recreate the magic of IPK! And did you see all the clothes on QH? It is a larger caste with better clothes...It is a tribute to SARUN that they helped take IPK to its dizzying levels inspite of the PH....keeping all of us in thrall even when the story meandered and did absolutely inane stuff!
DeleteHarini, from what little I have seen of QH, there is no chemistry between Asad and Zoya so far! Whereas there was such instant chemistry between Arnav Khushi from day one ... the first confrontation after the fashion show was explosive! And from Opti's comments on the PH habits, chemistry is the only thing which can keep the show afloat for a long time, because story will meander out shortly the way it did in IPK.

How true can these spoilers be? Will SP allow such a major news to leak out like this with the UK trip coming up? Plus won't the channel use its veto to let Barun stay- regardless of what Gul says? After all they got her to change the tracks according to what they deemed fandom wanted? Will Barun want a clean break from IPK?
For real world, the spoiler does not make sense. But Mishti said, BS might come back n the last epis...that means the guy is not opposite Khushi- could be something like Opti's scenario.

Viraf Patel ... I liked him a lot in Kismet ... he played a successful businessman and he looked every inch the man. Suave, sophisticated, speaks very well, with that touch of being more comfortable in English ... he is a Parsi like Sanaya. Decent actor ... but then I thought Barun was only 'decent' till IPK happened and he got into the skin of ASR. From what I remember of him in Kismet, he could do the deadpan sarcastic type very well.

I like viraf Patel a lot....Mahi way, kismet, Teri meri love stories, the whole lot.....and just for that I would not like him to enter ipkknd. His life will become miserable. And then the ipkknd forum will become totally a no entry zone for me.
In fact, and I maybe the only one here, I would not have minded seeing him as ASR in normal circumstances if it had not been this PH. Now they tell us that the last few months of GHSP was crappy when each post on that forum was telling exactly that. When we wold grumble too much, they would shove a Maaahi which was the rabba ve equivalent in GHSP and it acted as a pacifier. So with a different PH actually serious about taking their story forward even after marriage of the leads exploring all the facets f ASR's character, Viraf Patel as ASR would not have been bad for me at least. It would keep the ASR khushi love story intact if they were interested in the love story and not say that it has run its course.
But since it is 4L, I have serious serious doubts.

DeleteI have been a regular visitor of the blog for more than a year now since I started watching the show. I must say you guys do such a fabulous job of analysing the show and its characters, I must admit I stuck with the show only because of the blog when the episodes were not so promising. I was drawn to the show because of the chemistry between the leads so much that I have become a big fan of Sanaya Irani (I never watched her earlier shows). Barun Sobti, as an actor, does not impress me so much though he has done a fabulous job of portraying a complex character of Arnav Singh Raizada. But I feel that the character is so well written that it must have made his job a lot easier. Anyways, coming back to the show, I only have one regret and that is that they have skipped elaborating on the past connection between the leads, which was supposed to be the crux of the story at the beginning. Why do you think did they do that? Is it because the makers lost interest in the show at some point or is it because Barun Sobti opted out of the show ( he did put the leave notice a couple of months back)? I cannot help but wonder what the original story would have been like if Gul Khan would have chosen to tell it at her own pace. I still wish she does not abandon the plot and will use it in another show. Too much of wishful thinking, I know, but I can't let go of it! Sorry for the ranting but I just have to vent out my frustration one last time.

DeleteI have the experience of watching the previous show by this PH. They are notorious for forgetting their own story. There were many unclosed loops in their previous show also. The hero was shown to be searching for someone when he bumped into the heroine for the first time. They never revisited this aspect although the show was on for 20 months. There were a couple of characters mentioned who were vital in shaping the hero's character but they never brought them in and instead brought in characters not mentioned at all. The hero's little brother never came in but instead we suddenly got a sister who was not mentioned at all in the original story and she too mysteriously disappeared. They had umpteen opportunities to close all loops but instead they chose to thrust the most ridiculous tracks on us in the hope that the show will close down so that they could focus on their new show (which at the time was IPK).
So you see it has nothing to do with Barun's wanting to leave. This is just a convenient excuse for them to close shop or give crappy tracks. In fact I think Barun's wanting to leave may have been prompted by this PH's careless treatment of their stories and the way they get their cast exhausted by improper planning and hurried execution. They never bank their episodes which takes a toll on the actors' health as they are constantly stretched.

DeleteOpti has given you the answer to your question ... I feel she is very right. Even in this show, we've seen it happen time and again, a great build up to a track, followed by a complete whimper of a climax. The think tank appears to be very limited. I think they have so many shows on air right now that they just don't have the time to think anything through properly. The same writers are writing 3-4 shows at the same time. Creativity and proper follow through are minimal. This show has survived for so long purely on the extraordinary chemistry between the leads and the fact that they are both very good actors.
I would agree with you - I personally find Sanaya the better actor, she is definitely the more complete one, in terms of her dialogue delivery and diction, her attention to detail in terms of body language and even dressing, the fact that she can dance adds to it. I have never felt her to be out of the character of Khushi even once in these last 1 1/2 years, while Barun has slipped quite a few times from ASR into Barun.
Having said that, ASR is a very well-written character, but Barun has brought him to life very well, one has to give him that, and he must have really worked hard on him. Which is why the current sloppiness in dressing is very annoying, we've grumbled about that and his mumbling umpteen times on this blog!! :D
And I also feel that part of Barun wanting to leave must be the recent sloppiness in script and screenplay - his disinterest and lack of conviction showed through very clearly. Thursday and Friday, he perked up again and you could see clearly the difference in his acting. This was also when the Sheetal track must have changed and we did hear he was very unhappy about the first version - of ASR going off with Sheetal.
Where he is really brilliant is in his silent scenes - his eyes are amazingly expressive and his emotional scenes with Khushi are completely fabulous, because both of them are just amazing in those.
By the way, do give us a name to call you by ... an alias is also welcome! We're a very small friendly group here!

But I wish they would have done a better job in seeing it through to the end. I have not been watching the episodes after the remarriage of the leads. I just cannot connect to the recent track. It is sad but the show is already over for me. I wish they wrap up the show on a high note with both the leads. The two lovers, Arnav and Khushi deserve a happily ever after. I cannot bear to see Khushi without Arnav and vice versa. Don't you think the epic love story deserve a happy ending?

Anita, I have actually been feeling the worst for her ... she is in such a bad position at the moment. She is tied to SP, she can't leave unless they allow her. Mohit has a new show about to start ... they will need at least a couple of months to see how it will go. If she antagonizes SP, it affects not just her but it might rebound on him also.
DeleteShe knows getting in a new guy for Khushi is not going to be a popular choice ... especially if Khushi has to romance him. There will be constant comparisons, and if Khushi is shown to get even slightly close, Khushi and Sanaya will be bashed as much if not more, than the new guy. Basically she's been told to hold the sinking ship afloat as long as she can ... with a small life jacket to do it with.
On top of which, like you said, the entire cast were such great friends ... she will be so lonely on set now. And in their last interview together, she and Barun have emphasized again that they are really good friends. She will really miss him a lot, and it will be very tough for her to do romantic moments with the new guy if they bring him in as Arnav.
I am really feeling bad for her ... even more than for Barun - he has the entire fandom fighting for him, he has the luxury of choice of walking away. I am reserving my sympathies for my girl!

But i was thinking about the way i would see the development. To me, i would have not been able to see anyone else with Arnav plain and simple so it had to be San as Khushi for me.
Arnav was an author backed role and Khushi the ill-defined one..so for us to connect wth that Khushi despite the many ill advised tracks, i would say is purely to Sanaya's credit...she made everything she did believable....all heart all the time...There were times when i saw San having questions about the track (perhaps they were my questions that i saw and felt she had it too) but yet she gave her best shot even in the worst tracks written for her...

i did not follow either of them before this show but Sanaya comes across as an extremely selfless actor and it shows! She has an ease with her craft which i find fascinating...
One thing i did notice with both SI and BS is..give them bad tracks..they will do their best (Sanaya more so than BS) but at times it becomes obvious that they themselves are not happy about it...
For her sake..i hope they end the show ...as i said she will still do a fantastic job with the new guy or new co-stars..but it will not be fair to her..

Dia, I have full faith in my girl. I am sure she will pull it off with the new lead (if they really go that route, Viraf Patel). Although they will keep Arnav-Khushi in the flashbacks. I cant get anything from the discussions as to why BS is quitting, he only knows the real reasons. I feel he is using the word break, to not burn bridges with PH and SP. But still he has earned enough of both good and bad traction!

That's why I feel either the new guy has to be Arnav himself with a new face or he has to be for Khushi's daughter, not for Khushi. Itni nayi soch the channel does not have! They don't even have enough Nayi Soch to show a working woman - if they show Khushi as taking over AR and/or becoming CEO of her own catering service and raising her child on her own, that itself will be mind-boggling for me!
Better than all this is to shut down the show and bring Sanaya back in another show asap ... and like I said earlier, I think that is what they will do. Shut down, I mean ... Sanaya's come back will have to wait, SP already has so many shows lined up :(

DeleteThings are changing. Balika Vadhu is currently having the track where the heroine has divorced her husband (who was in any case living with another woman) and is all set to marry another man. The same show earlier showed the remarriage of a child widow (after she turned adult, though). Mind you this show is set in rural Rajasthan.
More recently 'Na bole tum' showed the remarriage of a widow with two kids to a bachelor.
Even Pratigya, which was a show on SP, which was set in rural U.P. explored the issue of widow remarriage (the hero's sister had one).
So times are indeed changing, albeit slowly.

There was never a thread of social thot ever in their serial.I saw it only as a love story..nothing more nothing else..which i why i was able to see a girl dropped from the first love fall in love with the same man..In real life, i would have said...not worth the trouble....
If i wanted to see Khushi move on or Arnav move on in life, I wouldn't be watching IPK i would watch any of the n serials that have been mentioned above.
IPK never catered to any nayi soch as such...and i don't think they had any intentions...its possible if the PH changes after BS's exit, the serial may change its outlook and if the serial continues...it may move on to show such aspects.....
But agree with U Opti...that there are many changes happenin in tv world...and issues are getting addressing slowly steadily in their own peculiar way...DABH is a case in point....

DeleteSee that is precisely the problem. This was a love story in a family setting and not an out and out family drama. So the life span of such a show should not be more than a year. How long can you drag a love story, without tiring the actors and the viewers? If they had crisply addressed all the open loop holes and kept up the pace of narration, giving due weightage to the supporting cast, the full story could have been told in 12-15 months without any sense of disatisfaction of the actors or the viewers.
Unfortunately they made it too Arshi centric, so the real love story ran out of steam even as the loops remained wide open and the supporting cast looked like inanimate props.
The PH wants to get out because they did not plan out for staying longer than 12-15 months. The channel on the other hand wants to retain the show, espeically when its overseas clientale watch only this one. The over worked and under paid male lead's plea to be let off if his terms are not reworked came as the perfect excuse for the PH to throw in the towel.
In this mess, it is the naive fans who are caught and led for a royal ride. Doubt whether all this fan power will have any effect on the final outcome of the show.
Our choice - just use the remote and move on to better shows or shut the idiot box altogether.

The off-screen drama is making all us silent readers/stalkers come out and comment :). Like everyone else, got hooked on to IPKKND solely for two reasons: the chemistry between the leads and the analysis on R&R that brought a depth to the story that the writers so blatantly refused to pursue. I personally blame the whole off-screen drama solely on the PH - for the inconsistency in storyline, lazy writing, not utilizing the entire cast, and putting all their eggs in one basket (read leads) because that was the easy way out. If you watch the show from an unbiased perspective, it ended right around Khushi's dream during the kidnapping track. Until then, even the crappy tracks added somewhat to the story. After realization of Khushi's love (and that awesome monologue by the poolside summarizing the tagline) all subsequent tracks have been a half-hearted attempt. I commend Barun if he is truly leaving because of the storyline. His decision will be a turning point in the Telly history - that TV actors also want something substantial and meaningful and want to be faithful to their characters. That right is not reserved for Bollywood alone. However, it will be very difficult to see Khushi romance anyone else. Ideally, they should kill ASR off and give Khushi the chance to move on with her life. Nayi Soch, SP! Khushi is young - she shouldn't be expected to live her entire life as a widow. Let ASR be her first love and then introduce any new guy and slowly move on with her life. I admit it'll be tough to watch the show without Barun but Sanaya is awesome and can easily carry the show provided the PH and SP are committed to seeing it through and not just bidding their time.

DeleteThe problem with the last thing you said is just that ... I don't think the PH are committed enough. I think the channel is - that's why they're keen to carry on the show, even without BS. They obviously have enough faith in Sanaya, but the public backlash is hindering them. They might just decide it's not worth the negative reaction from so many fans, after all its the subscribers who make the channel, and many international ones are threatening to withdraw their subscriptions, so SP is actually realising more and more how popular the show really is.
Like I said, the hollowness of the TRP meters is exposed fully!!!
And Sanaya would probably do justice to a fresh season, but she would not be given a fair chance by the fans. Neither would any new guy. They would have to depend on an entire new audience being pulled in - and for that, the PH has to really concentrate and give a good storyline. Which, with its new baby just starting off, is not going to happen.

Fan sentiment will die down...it is not a constant, in fact its fickle, if i may say so..if weren't so..every involved party will only base their decisions on that sentiment alone..I wonder how many of those claiming allegiance to BS today will stand by him, when they find their next fixation...many of them are young people so they are living in the moment...it will pass...many will move on...and then the reality of career decisions will only matter to people involved in this situation, whoever it may be...Be it BS, SI, DB the channel, the PH or anyone connected with it...

Anita, news of Sanaya quitting is apparently not true. Poor girl, she is under so much pressure now! Accha hoga if the show winds up soon and she gets a new show, that's my prayer for her now. BS fans will not let her live in peace, and even for San fans, it will be very difficult to watch anyone else romance Khushi, be it new guy or new Arnav! Besides, half the cast is gone, they can't stretch it for too long, unless SP takes over and gives it to a new PH who can manage it better and bring in a whole new story. In which case, they might as well end it and bring in a new show.

I just caught the SBB segment...somehow San looked bit lost when these guys were pulling her leg...maybe my imagination too but her smile was not reaching her eyes...she looked with her eyes downcast....god...what a mess....they were trying to be funny but somehow i just got the feeling, their mind is not it? (again, i may be wrong in reading...i felt too much of effort being put in by everybody in tryin to be funny esp with 6 hour make-up joke....

I think this was the cast pulling the legs of those who gave that news ... that Sanaya takes 6 hours and then stays locked in her van and has to be pulled out ...
And also taking the mickey out of those who reported that Daljeet said she is the soul of IPKKND ... they were basically dissing those reports big time. Serve those reporters right! They basically made fun of them all!
But you're right, even I felt San's smile didn't reach her eyes today ... I'm feeling even worse for her now! :(((
