9/10 - Epi 360 ... These Old Shades

Tuesday 9th October

Any fans of Georgette Heyer here will know what I'm talking about.

Abhaas excellent today. The slow transition from nervous, angry to more nervous, scared, fear growing stronger ... the sidelong looks, the furtive glances, the attempts to slink away ... the final transition to half-crazed psycho with nothing to lose ... and the confession ... which resulted in the final peeling of blinders from Di's eyes ... ClapClapClap

Sanaya's voice modulation during the recital ... brilliant! ClapClapClap Made me feel Anjali's pain and loss in a way Anjali herself never did ... and she looked simply stunning in both the sarees ... I wanted to see more of her in the first one Ouch The accusation in her voice in the second half as she recounts the events of the godh bharayi ... the pain as she speaks about the rajkumari gone forever ...

NK ... as dhol player ... the unblinking stare at Shyam ... ClapClap

Akash ... that one glare at Shyam as he makes him sit down again with that slight shake of the head ... 'not this time, buster ...' ClapClap

Arnav ... quietly sitting beside his sister all along, ever-protective, ever-supportive ... and provoking the first admission of guilt which opened the flood gates ... Clap Arnav looked more shattered when Khushi spoke about the lost baby than Daljeet did ...

Nani and Mami ... dawning expressions of horror as they slowly realize what's going on ... Payash's exchanged looks as they understand too ... Clap

Daljeet was adequate ... good in parts ... the disbelief, the denial ... 'stop this now ...' then the slow understanding ... and acceptance, and with the acceptance the deadening of her eyes ... a blankness, a stillness creeping in (like I said, adequate, this is what I read, will have to see if this is what the actress was supposed to convey Wink )

All the cast were excellent today ... Abhaas and Sanaya were the stars ... one for emoting, the other for narration ... they made the final climax convincing ...

*edited*

The reason I chose These Old Shades as the title, and not Karz, OSO or Madhumati ...
OSO and Madhumati ... the hero was helped in the final showdown by the ghost of the heroine, who emerged in the final scene in place of the real life look alike ...
Karz ... more similarities than the first two ... the hero put the pieces together with help of his flashbacks of the past, not a video ... had no real proof ... success of the plot depended on the breakdown of Simi ...
These Old Shades ... the villain sacrificed his own child ... first at birth, then when she reappeared, by threatening to tell society that she was his bastard child, when in fact she was his legitimate child ... No facts available to the hero. The villain had to be exposed in public to the people who mattered - the society of the day, because his family had already accepted her. The villain was forced into a confession in public.
Here similarly, the chief aim was to expose the villain by his own confession to the Dimbo, because that was the only way she would believe it.

The episode:
Shyam cracking up with the sound of the baby's crying ... this part was a bit overdone by Abhaas, including the shaking hands. Confused
NK switches on the cd ... NK's expression bang on ... determination, anger and disgust. Karan has come a long way in IPK, has improved by leaps and bounds. Clap
Shyam sees the ultrasound of the baby and hears the crying again, and now starts to crack up in earnest.

Anjali sees Shyam come hurtling down the stairs, Shyam has to make an effort to act normal, but Dimbulb doesn't see anything wrong as usual. LOL And she drags a visibly disturbed Shyam ahead.
Why was Daljeet dressed like a Christmas tree again ... it was a family celebration, not a big party! She's going the Mami way ... seems this was her last chance to be dressed well before the dhamaka, so she pulled out the stops. Looked grossly overdressed ... Mami style. I think the maang tika made it OTT, the set was all right otherwise ... heavy and a bit garish, but normal Anjali style.

In contrast to Khushi ... who looked every inch the graceful, poised elegant and gorgeous Mrs ASR today ... whatever little I saw from the glimpse we got in the blue saree. Day Dreaming  And for once she wore a set, rather than just earrings and her MS ... I liked!

Shyam walks with Anjali, and sees the entire family waiting for them ...
Arnav and Khushi look serious, Arnav a little angry, Khushi slightly worried ... Mami and Nani smile at Anjali, NK does not smile at all, he looks determined and assessingly at Shyam ... did he watch Shyam's reaction when he played the cd? Payal and Akash also smile ... at Anjali, I guess.

NK comes forward to welcome Anjali for their plan .. a skit by him and Khushi ... Shyam gets more apprehensive ... 'drama?'
NK's tone is firm with just the subtlest hint of a threat ... 'yes, jeeju,' (a very slight inflection on 'jeeju' there) ... 'drama ... or a dhamaka for you ... which will shake you up ...'
Khushi's worry stays on her face ... this is do or die ... Arnav merely continues to look angry ... yes of course, he hates Shyam, he's not happy with any celebrations, he doesn't want to join them ... neither does Khushi really ... but she's doing it for Di ... all very good and in character for the rattled Shyam, no hints there. Although NK's friendly behaviour should have got him a bit suspicious, but then again, they all do it DKL ...

Anjali and Shyam sit down ... Daljeet really overdoes the happy clueless acting bit, Anjali looks a bit retarded rather than merely innocently happy, peering here and there ... Shyam continues to look worried, sitting on the edge of his seat ...
Arnav looks at his blissfully innocent sister and comes to sit next to her ... she will need support to face what is coming ... and she might to be restrained to prevent her from running away ... determination and concern on his face, and a wistful sadness as he sees her excitement, knowing this is the last time he will see her smile in the near future ...
Mami, Nani, Payash ... all expectantly waiting for the show to start ... with NK and Khushi, it's bound to be entertaining ... little do they know that what is coming will not be entertaining in the least ...

Lights out ... the show starts ...
A backdrop of temple steps ... and Khushi's narration starts, in clear, dulcet, modulated, even tones ... a hint of smile in the voice ... happy times ...
Hukum se na chidi se
Na aadam ki peedhi se
Yeh kahan shuru hoti hai
Mandir ki ek seedhi se ...

Anjali delighted ... Shyam worried ... this is their journey ... they met at a temple ...
Arnav grim ... how he wishes he could turn back time and prevent that meeting ...
Shyam looks back sharply ... was that a baby crying again?! No ...Shocked

Khushi walks on stage with a pooja ki thaali ... beautiful in a red net saree, hair loose ... she looks so pretty!!! Day DreamingDay DreamingDay Dreaming
Bholi bhaali si ek naar
Vrat rakhke solah Somvaar
Nikli leke choti si aas
Kabhi to milega koi toh khaas?

Anjali delighted, blushing a little (jeez, woman after five years of marriage?! Get a grip!) Nani Mami enjoying the memories of a young Anjali in love ... and the happiness her marriage must have brought to the family ... and Shyam worries even more ... he knows Khushi has every reason to know how hollow his marriage really is, and how thankless Anjali's love ...
Arnav grits his teeth some more ... this is tough for him to watch ...

Na Devi Maiyya ne khabar di
Na upar vaale ne telegram
Do jeevan sathi takraye  ... NK walks out dressed as kurta clad Shyam and bumps into 'Anjali' ... and Khushi's tone changes ... wistfulness, longing, hope creeping in ...
Yun chalte phirte sare aam?

Anjali delighted, Shyam worried ... Mamai Nani glance fondly at Anjali's laughter, so does Arnav, Akash starts getting a little suspicious, Payal is watching ... waiting ...

Aankhen mili ... phir gul khile ...
Phir dil hi dil mein voh mile ...
A sweet shy smile on 'Anjali's face on stage ... a loving doting look from Anjali to Shyam, 'remember how we met and fell in love?' ... he's too worried to notice at first, then manages a weak smile back ...
Voh phir mile ... aur phir mile
Aur milte milte dil mile ...

And 'Shyam' on stage on his knees ... was this how Shyam trapped Anjali in his 'love'?
'I love you, Rani Sahiba ...'
Anjali all smiles, Shyam very apprehensive, Arnav grim, Nana Mami smile ...
And a temple bell ... and Shyam looks back again very nervously ... is he hearing things again? Shocked

Usne kaha 'mujhe hai pyaar' ...
Isne kaha ... 'tera intezar ...'
Smile and blush from Anjali, worried look from Shyam ... he knows by now that something is wrong ... he just doesn't know what ...
Phir baja dhol, phoolon ki phuhar ...
Sang leke saara parivar
Pahunche dono mandir ke dwaar

And the marriage of 'Anjali' and 'Shyam' on stage ... a giggly, blushing Anjali clutches a very worried Shyam's arm on sofa ... and Arnav looks really upset ... how he wishes again that he had stopped this there itself ...

A cheerful Khushi continues ...
Khush thi voh banke Shrimati ...
Aur khush the Mr Sreeman
Do dil the ... magar thi ek jaan.

Mami and Nani nod happily ... like, really, guys?! You believe that? Shocked Akash and Payal are far more clued on ... Akash watching very carefully, Payal looks most disbelieving and watchful ... by now they both suspect something is up ...

Against a backdrop of a blissfully happy Shyali, Khushi continues smilingly ...
Sapne jaisa tha parivar
Sab kuch tha ... lekin kuch kami thi, yaar ...
Anjali still happy in her bubble, and Arnav starts to watch her narrowly now ... he knows this is when the trauma will start ...
Dil ne yeh poocha baar baar
Kab aayegi meri baari?
Jab goonjegi aangan mein kilkaari?

A cradle on screen, a smile still on Khushi's face ... but Shyam looks up arrested ... and Anjali's smile starts to fade ...
Khushi continues smilingly ... with so much love and joyful anticipation did Anjali await the arrival of her little baby ... as 'Anjali' on stage reaches out a loving hand to her 'Shyam' ...
Aadhi meri ... baaki tumhari ...
Anjali is still smiling ... did she miss her cue here?! Or poor editing?
Ek chhoti si raajkumari ...
And now Anjali's smile starts to fade in earnest ... and Shyam looks at the stage in a mix of anger and nervousness ... no, it can't be, why are they bringing this up now?

NK and Khushi - 'Shyam and Anjali' - smile at each other, hold hands, look happily at the picture of the baby on screen ... what Anjali fondly believed herself and Shyam to be ... the perfect couple awaiting the arrival of their long-awaited baby ...
And Shyam starts sweating in earnest now ... Nani and Mami's smiles start fading ... Akash and Payal are dead serious, getting ready for what's coming, because they know by now that something is ...

And as Anjali starts to remember her lost baby, Arnav's eyes fill with tears for his sister and her loss ... (he looked more upset than Anjali there ... he really is such a baby where his Di is concerned! Tongue)

NK asks ... phir kya hua?
Khushi ... phir? Phr sapne ne dekha ek aur sapna
NK ... ek aur sapna?
Khushi, smiling, happy to announce the news ... hmm. Do jaanon mein ek chhoti si jaan ki
Khabar aayi teesre mehamn ki ...

Anjali starting to get emotional ... Shyam getting very, very worried here ... he wants to leave, but Anjali puts out a hand and makes him stay, she needs her husband's support to go through the memory of that horrible time ... and Shyam is still the loving dotng husband, he can't blow his cover now. Helpless, he sits.

Khushi back on stage with a pillow ... pregnant 'Anjali' ... Tongue
Khushiyon ki agvayi ka
Voh din tha godh bharayi ka ...
And Shyam's worst fears start to surface ... as Anjali's tears start to fill ...
Khila tha ghar chaman ki tarah ...
Saja tha ek dulhan ki tarah ...
A sadness creeps into the narrative ... a foreboding of the tragedy to come ...
Shagun, badhayi, gaana hua ...
Mehmaanon ka aana hua ...

A sadness in Khushi's eyes too, as she looks at the visibly upset Anjali ... she hates putting her through this too ... but it has to be done ...

and as Shyam sweats more, wondering how the hell he can get out, Khushi continues, a new note coming in through the sadness, an awareness, a tension ... a worry ...
Phir mehmanon ki bheedh mein
Kuch andekha, kuch anjaana hua
Shyam looks up, arrested ... has he been found out? Anjali is almost crying now, Nani, Mami, Payash watch enthralled and worried at the same time ... Arnav as upset as Anjali ...

And NK enters as a dhol player ... and the beat of the drums gets louder and faster as Khushi continues ... and Shyam stares like a deer caught in headlights ... Anjali's face starts to change ... Mami and Nani question each other ... Anjali turns to stare at Shyam, guilt in her face, because this is something that nobody knew except the two of them, not even Dadi ... and they look at each other in consternation ... how does Khushi know this?! But Shyam is far more worried than Anjali ...

Kuch the apne, aur kuch the paraye
Aur kuch apnon ka bhes banaye ...
And Khushi's tone changes again, to one of firmness, accusation, grimness ... an enemy masquerading as a friend, a loved one ...
Ek pal mein khushiyon ki dhoop khili
toh doosre pal mein badal ghir aaye ...

and Khushi's tone is completely changed, anger, accusation clearly discernible ... as Shyam swallows nervously ... too many details of his rock solid secret plan are emerging ... Anjali continues to stare horrified ... and nervous? That her role in bringing Shyam back to the house will come out?
Mami, Nani and Payash continue to look grimly on as the story unfolds ... an even grimmer NK continues to beat the drums angrily, and slowly comes down from stage, staring at a sweating Shyam all the while, unblinkingly, accusingly ...

And Khushi speaks again, her tone firm now, hidden anger in the depths, but the narrative has to be completed ... accusation clear in her eyes as she too looks directly at Shyam ...
Bheed mein chupa sunsaan sa
Ek iraada kala beimaan sa ...
Dil khush tha yun anjaan sa ...
kise pata tha voh pagal nadaan sa

Shyam sweats more ... Anjali's face changes from guilt to wonder again ... questioning ... what is this? And the audience watches horrified, spellbound, beginning to understand ... as the villain sweats ...
The drummer beats faster and faster, the roar of the drums mounts to a crescendo as he walks around the sweating Shyam blocking his view of the stage for a moment ... then silence ...
And darkness ... an empty stage ... a scene flashes on to the screen ... two hands and two pill bottles ... an exchange of pills ...
This is new to Anjali, as she watches nervous, scared, eyes glued to the screen ... Arnav keeps a watchful eye on his sister ...  the family watches, horrified comprehension dawning ...

Khushi's voice rings out again, accusatory, pointing ... sharp as a knife ...
Baandhi tujhse jeevan ki dor
Tune jeena dushwar kiya ....
the gloved hand scatters glass pieces on the doormat ... hands are anonymous, but the bracelet is not ...
Humne socha tha pyaar kiya ...
Tune har pal bekaar kiya ...
And Anjali watched the scattering of glass pieces, she knows better than anyone else what happened that night ... she knew Shyam was the dhol player, she knew he was in the house, she knew she left the party and went up only to meet him ... she knew she walked on those glass pieces yet kept walking just to find him ... and now she starts to understand this was all deliberate, she was played like a puppet ...
tune har pal bekaar kiya ...

All look accusingly at Shyam ... Anjali looks only at his bracelet ... the giveaway ... and Shyam sees what she is looking at and knows that this time there is no escape ...

Jo dushman hota, sochta
Tune har had ko paar kiya ...
Even an enemy would think that you crossed all the limits today ... better the hatred of an enemy than the treachery of a loved one like you ...
Kyun chupke tune vaar kiya?

The attack from behind her back, the treacherous play ... as Anjali on screen steps on the glass pieces ... cries in pain yet continues walking ...
Ummeed nahin thi apnon se
Khilvad karenge sapnon se ...
And the full extent of Shyam's heinous acts is out for everyone to see ... including a now silently crying Anjali, Arnav puts his arm protectively round her shoulder ... but she is too numb to even notice ... Shyam sees that Anjali is not looking at him any more, but at the screen, and he tries to make a run for it ...
'Not this time, buster ...' Akash stops him, anger and contained fury in his eyes  and the slightest shake of his head ... 'this time you're not getting away with it, buster ...' and a cornered Shyam sinks down again ...

Khushi's voice again, a firmness, a determination, and anger in it now ..
Dhokha hua hum maan gaye,
Aansoo gire hum maan gaye,
Kaanto pe chale hum maan gaye
Par keemat kya thi pyaar ki?
Ek zakhm mila toh jaan gaye ...
The wounds on the feet? Or the piercing wound to the heart?

And Anjali can't bear it any more ... 'stop! Stop now!'
Not this time ... Arnav is the one to restrain her, but determined too ... she has to see this through ... she has to open her eyes ... he has to hurt her to heal her ...
And Shyam is losing hope ... Arnav was the person he could depend on to save Anjali from all pain, butt his time even Arnav is determined that Anjali has to go through the pain for her own good ... and to his downfall ...
And it is noticeable that no one else stops the narrative ... for they all believe it is true ... they all distrust Shyam, have seen his ugliness, he has not succeeded in fooling anyone this time round, except for his wife ...

And the final nail in the coffin ... the video of Shyam putting the wires together ... and the electric shock to Anjali which led to the fall ...
(SN ... okay, a lot of the videos I swallowed but this was a bit much LOL... Shyam taped himself, including his face? And didn't erase it? AND put it in the Special folder? LOL Much better would have been to show Arnav Khushi copying all his files and watching it at leisure together in their room, because there was too much footage for Shyam to have edited it all)

At which the entire family breaks down again in total shock at the extent of Shyam's villainy ...

The stage is black again ... and then a single light comes on ... Khushi, her face sorrowful, her eyes downcast, grieving ...
She looks at Anjali, a hint of apology in her eyes for putting her through this ... and speaks for the last time, in low, sorrow-filled tones ... voice breaking with unshed tears ...
Sab kuch khatam ho gaya ...
Choti si raj kumari hamesha ke liye chali gayi ...
Aur ghar mein kilkariyon ka sapna
Sapna hi reh gaya ...

The pathos, the sadness, the tears in Khushi's voice made me feel more sad for the lost baby than 10-20 episodes of Anjali's crying had done ... she brought Anjali's pain and shattered dreams to vivid, heartrending life ...  Cry
Anjali seems to go numb ...

Shyam has had enough  ... but Khushi isn't finished ...
The stage comes alight with a cradle, a baby's toys, the air is filled with a baby's screams ... and Shyam finally loses it ... (this part was a bit stretched) ...
and Shyam reacts this time with none of his usual confidence ... 'You're all lying! Nothing of the sort happened!'
Knew he would say that, but the difference was the set up ... the glass pieces, the cd, the crying tapes, the missing pills ... all had already messed up Shyam's mind so much that even the master planner cracked wide open ... calling the whole world liars was his usual modus operandi, but this time with none of his usual suavity ... rather with a hysterical outburst ...
And this time while Khushi guards Anjali, Arnav keeps his cool to face Shyam ... and accuses him ... 'these files are from your own laptop ... are these lies?'
Last time Shyam said Khushi didn't have proof ... this time he tries to say the proof is false, fabricated, made up ... but the family is having none of it ... as Nani speaks firmly, angrily ... 'No one in this family would stoop to such depths ... you were allowed back into the house only because I thought that you still cared for Anjali ...'
And Arnav corroborates ... 'Di improved when you came, that's why you were allowed to stay. But you tried to kill her ...'
Shyam denies angrily ... Arnav says, what about the pills you gave her, they were to kill her ...
And Shyam spills the truth ... 'No! they were only to abort the baby ...!'

Mission successful. The truth from Shyam's own mouth ... a truth that even Anjali cannot ignore.

And Shyam knows it. And he closes his eyes.
When he opens them, it is a new Shyam ... a crazed, raving psycho who laughs like a madman and admits he killed his own child ... short circuit and she fell ... and with it, her child ....
More laughter, and the Daiyya Ho tune in the background ... hmmm, this is not the end of Shyam ...
And I did it so that I could come back to Shantivan. I brought Dadi back, but she failed to get me back into RM ... so I killed my own child to be able to come back.
Is that all he is admitting to?

The family stares appalled ... and Anjali goes numb ...

Precap .. the slap. Anjali, Khushi and Shyam on the first landing, everyone else downstairs ... so does Shyam accuse Khushi as well? Will he finally admit to those truths as well?

Acting honors ... go to Abhaas /Shyam today ... not the first scene, there he was still hamming a bit, but once he comes downstairs, each and every expression was in place. His nervousness and apprehension grew slowly through the skit ... a complaint I had yesterday when he was nervous, then became normal, then nervous again ... today it was well graduated. ClapClapClap

Khushi ... Sanaya gets the honors for her narration, the impeccable voice modulation, low-voiced, firm, emotional where needed ... her narration of the loss of the baby in ten minutes was far more heartrending than the zillions episodes of Anjali crying buckets for the same ... Her narration knit the entire episode together. ClapClapClap

NK as the dhol player ... the venom and the anger in his eyes as he stared down Shyam was damn good! ClapClap
SN - Khushi-NK looked cute as a pair, I have to say! LOL

Arnav ... Barun also didn't have much to do except look protective and angry by turns ... liked the part where Arnav is affected by the baby's loss, he seemed more affected than Anjali! ClapClap
His confrontation with Shyam was short, but Abhaas excelled there.
All three, Arnav, Khushi and NK knew the entire plan, so they were on the outside, watching the drama unfold, and watching the reactions ... their reactions mirrored that, even and calm, understated and contained, watchful rather than expressive ... especially Khushi, in keeping with her charcter of being the one most abble to mask her feelings, but giving it away somewhat in the end in her eyes and her tone. NK also gave himself away at the end with that last angry stare at Shyam, but by then the expose was well on the way, so it didn't matter. Arnav was protective, angry, helpless, regretful by turns ... and as big a softie as always when it comes to his Di. Tongue

Payash ... they were both excellent ... ClapClapClap with no dialogues today, but their expressions were just right in each and every scene, at the start doubtful about the celebrations, but joining for Anjali, the change as they realize that something is going on, that there is a plan behind all this ... then the dawning shock and horror. Akash's angry young man glare at Shyam and that tiny shake to stop him leaving ... excellent!!!

Anjali ... Daljeet was overacting in the first bit ... over-happy over-excited about anniversary celebrations, the peering at the stage and all around was overdone ... the rest was pretty much her usual crying, sad, shocked ... the last part if she is indeed supposed to go numb with shock, she did that well. Clap

Nani and Mami ... the first part, their happiness seemed out of place, it should have been more forced, not so enthusiastic ... their changing expressions were of course excellent ... both wonderful actresses. ClapClap The first part seems to be a directorial glitch, because the actresses are too competent to make such mistakes.

  2. action-filled episode... :) waiting for tomorrow..

my ONLY grouse - now that shyam is accepting all his deeds one by one, will he also accept that he did indeed lust after khushi and that khushi was completely oblivious about all of that..AND that he did kidnap and try to kill arnav?? That would be true justice for both anjali and khushi..as FINALLY anjali and all will see that gupta sisters, especially khushi was yelling the truth right from the beginning..and will make a true win of good over the evil..

BUT...do the makers want to see justice for Khushi? Now that's another territory altogether.. and I already know my answer, so no point hoping! :)

    1. after the grouse, I'm back to the epi ...

I know everybody will be gushing about Abhaas today, but I'd like to mention that Sanaya's voice modulation as she narrated the story was PERFECT!! :) and this has always been sanaya's strength.. @dia and aaru, remember how beautifully she narrated the story in MJHT too?? That was gunjan's voice...and this was khushi's... and neither of them has even a trace of Sanaya's.. :))) Wow, Sanaya..everyday I keep on saying you can't impress me more and you always do! :)

as for DB...I'm sorry, but if this was supposed to be the pinnacle of anjali's character, then it came out very, very, poorly...DB had an odd single expression all through the revelation, never changing, made it difficult for me to understand anji's reactions.. :S deepali emoted much more than her in the limited screen time that was given to payal!

khair chodo, I just want it to end once and for all so that we can move onto ArHi romance please... although the prospective track doesn't look too interesting, but I think the makers and actors likewise would have been glad to shoot some light hearted stuff after all the heavy-duty drama that has been happening in the show - first miscarriage, then dadi revealing past and now shyam's exit.. there hasn't been a single break.. I'm sure the light hearted track would be very much welcomed by them..

a glimpse of Sanaya narrating in MJHT.. :)))

    3. Mads,

I agree there was nothing really that would have kept me riveted to Abhaas..becos apart from dialogue delivery...which he aces always...becos of his wonderful diction..there is really nothing great about Abhaas's acting, imo...he is just above average...and in some parts quite OTT...

The only time that i thot i saw something flash in DB's eyes and actually felt fro her was when she asked Shyam to sit thru when the baby news was coming up on screen....then it all the standard dumb exp she seems to excel....alternatively it could also be a director cue to just act as if u are stoned....things are sinking in and given the "brain range" of anji...its probably ok that she did not switch to twitching..

It was San's voice modulation and may i add a very good skit text that did the trick for me...it was shorn of drama yet very meaningful.

On Arhi romance, if they can't rival their past epis in terms of feeling, innovation or style....let them not even try...i would rather go back to YT.....and watch old epic scenes...

    4. Madsie - You are bang on!! If anything stood out for me from today's episode, it was Sanaya's beautiful voice modulation. I can't get over how beautifully that was done. She is one heck of an actress, hope she goes places!!

    5. Madsie ... Hi5!!! That's exactly what I've written for today ...
I was thinking of exactly the same scene ... the play narration in MJHT ... her voice there and her voice here ... what a difference, yet the same clarity of diction and the same injection of emotion into each word ... she gets it all perfect! Her voice modulation is just beautiful.

    6. hey dia and madsie , i know i thinking of the same scene , infact i did go back and watched it .... its one of the best scene of MJHT2
and what I can say about sanz, just that she makes me stunned every time ..

  3. Anji's expressions in the precap seem to indicate Su's perfect description of Anji..."Dimwitted and Damamged temporarily" appears to have be disabused of every notion of "alls right with my world" and so she finds the strength for the slap.....

  4. Loved the epi. Except the toy scene and logic boatwa of various angles at which creep misdeeds were caught.

Have to hand it to makers. 10-20 episodes of Anjali could not garner sympathy for her. No worries we give 10 mins to Khushi and she did an apt job. "sab kho gaya" was that powerful.

Loved Akash today ...he has lived a simple life. Love, care and guidence of a perfect brother. Shyaams misdeeds were shock to him. His shock, anger, disgust and pleasure in precap was portrayed really well.

Loved ASRs just expression. Worried that Di will lose it again but this time there's no way he is going to let her turn away from truth. He has learned it hard from his khushi that only way to be happy is to face truth no matter how ugly. He will make his Di happy this time. Properly not a shiny bubble but a true happy life. He will make her face the ugly truth.

ArHi had been the only 2 who has seen the ugly side of Shyaam but it come as shock to khushi that a man can be so vile as to be proud of killing his own baby just to live in a luxury world whereas as to Arnav its no surprise.

In precap khushi is standing right behind Anjali when she slapped him. I hope its because he was in his gloating mood and has said something disgusting about his lusting over khushi. A girl can hope right, till proven wrong.

BG a big bear wala jhappi and a lot of prayers of Swetha et al. Love you loads and may everything sorts out soon. Your Akash bitwa was a true man today. Maybe because he wore blue rather than pink.

what's with IPK and not showing actress pregnant properly .. only thing if I have to pick from narration part.

  5. Also loved Payal today ... Deepali is seriously under utilized so is Akshay, maybe they cannot play romatics but in this revelation they could have been utilized. Everyone has their strength and weaknesses ....its makers job to explore the strong side of their actors.

Well if they can lose sight of ArHi which is their strength or rather say SaRun who always contributes to all damage control done by creatives with their few mins or even seconds ...ab kya boloon?

They really need to tone down anjalis frame ....daljeet is limited ....more she is provided with layers more she is tumbling.

Abbas ...well he has always been apt in dialogue delivary and his phsychotic punch.

SaRun ... Hayyeee kya boloon. Sanaya as I said has created a lot sympathy for character Anjali. For once I forgot Anjali is this bewakoof, selfish and blind lady who brought it upon herself .....part of it at least. Barun ....a man who have gone through everything - anger, disgust, agony, mistrust - is now making peace with all that is horrible in his life.

Chalo baccho ab bohot hogaya - humko pyaar do pyaar do pyaar dai do humko pyaar do !!!

  6. Sama - agree with you - all had very apt expression and Akash to aaj cha gaya - see BG this was for you, Akash's way of making you smile :D

everyone from mami to payal to nani to ASR were great - and of course KKG was near perfect - weakest were shyam and anji - Shyams was a TF again and anji craning her neck every second as if she is trying to catch a 2 inch screen from a mile off - instead of a 100 inch stage was plain annoying

was wondering why ASR was not in place of NK - but no ASR needed to be where he was

you know - in my head i had edited the part where KKG& ASR had seen the footage - to more realistic footage from a cctv and both had sat all night (cozy together) watching all pieces and knitting the story together - basically using there knowledge of shyam and brains to piece a story together - now them showing it like...like the epi actually happened really spoilt the flow - CTs if only u had thought things through and used cctv footage the story telling would have been so powerful - Sanaya's voice, clues from the footage and teh family piecing the truth together - just like ODC.. maza aa jata

well - at least this is out of the way

    1. Mona yeh bhi and the fact that him enacting shyaam would have been sheer torture for him (past 8 months had been too much) and did need to be beside Anjali otherwise mid-way she would have rushed to her room holding ears.

Today Arnav to me looked looked like a mother who urges her kid to take the bitter medicine .. bas todha aur ... bas todha aur sab theek hojayega.

      Delete
    2. yup i agree - ASR was needed to stop Anji from becoming and ostrich again

saw the rest of the epi - the loud music, baby cries, the toys falling and the camera going bulistic was so kektaish - not well done

    3. me din't like toy scene either ... was not needed ... too much of 360 cam...was having a headache almost.

but rest of the epi ... brilliant. was wondering why the narration and all ... well it was cvs way of damage control aur drama mein drama na ho toh kese chalega ... am glad they still kept the IPK punch of not going khusla way in mid of 100 of guest.

now I hope ASR has arranged for police ... their villain can get away from jail whenever needed on the basis of no proper proof but for now it has to be shown that he is behind bars. Otherwise beats the purpose. Letting a murderer wonder off again and again.

      Delete
    4. Yes, Sama.

I wish ASR'd get him arrested. Let Shyam run away from the police, so CVs don't have to handle a tiresome court scene- but please get him arrested.

      Delete
    5. I have a feeling Shyam will play psycho, mentally imbalanced, and get away ... that is if he has a role to play later in the story. He can disappear for a good few months now.

Some loopholes ... hi5 Mona ... I think we discussed on R&R about how Arshi managed to watch Shyam's entire footage in the ten minutes or so they spent ... would have been much more logical to show they spent that ten minutes transferring all the files to a pendrive and watching them later. Otherwise HOW in those ten minutes did they manage to watch only the relevant parts of the relevant files? Ask me when I have to watch A particular part of A particular episode how long it takes :)))

Toys and baby crying and rotating camera ... all a bit dramatic, but I think it was needed for the impact ...

Daljeet was the weakest ... Shyam was TF at the start, he got better later. The end SEEMED like a psycho act ...

    6. Dia,

Shyam will eventually plead insanity if this goes into the hands of law as I am hoping it will.

You know the Ajay Devgan Urmial movie with that song -
"Dholi bajaa re dhol, hui hai raat rangeeli"

Ajay gets off a crime proving himself to be mentally insane but later it is shown that he played teh lawyer and he is actually obsessed with the lawyer's girlfriend.

It was ripoff from an English movie with Richard Gere in it I think.

    3. Sam, I said the same in my post above.. copy pasting it here -

I think the makers and actors likewise would have been glad to shoot some light hearted stuff after all the heavy-duty drama that has been happening in the show - first miscarriage, then dadi revealing past and now shyam's exit.. there hasn't been a single break.. I'm sure the light hearted track would be very much welcomed by them..

does NOT mean I welcome the track at all.. so me pouts alongwith you!!

    4. Monu...I think bitwa will be done with di worrying and move onto biwi romancing.. :P this is the next track, I think they will (finally) show anjali moving on in her life, now that she has heard it all from the horse's mouth, she will have no doubts left whatsoever..

OR..maybe this is KKGSR's new idea of trying to cheer di up and making new excuses for family occasions since family has yet again suffered a loss, while ASR is done with family seva and wants to romance biwi...

    9. I hope they show Anjali finally realizing how her own actions helped her KP to do all his dastardly deeds ... the shocked recognition of the dhol player should lead her to that. She was not blameless in the tragedy of her own miscarriage, and it's high time she realized that. So I want her to withdraw from Arshi's life and stop being a KMH ... try to be brave in front of them, even if Khushi tries to cheer her up, and encourage them to spend some time together.

Yep, AND hope they don't go with the OTT comedy stuff again!!! Ditto that one!

    10. Dia,

a very strong shiddat is required so that this track doesn't degenerate into that....

I don't know how much hope we should lay on the self-realisation trip for Anji...the first thing is the CVs have to accept it themselves...somehow signs are not very encouraging...
We may get stellar scenes of ARHI even in this bedlam...becos all u need for magic is SARUN in a frame...magic is on autopilot then...guaranteed....

let Anji cry, get upset or whatever...."aap, hum aur humari chotisi duniya will exist".....

      Sama,
ROFL on the consistency..but yes I hope they do make KP drop a line so that ANji baby is reminded of her participation -actually all she has to do it ask aap yeh kaise kar sakte hain and he needs to say kyun, jaise aapko kuch bhi nahi pata. aaphi toh hume milne bulaati rahi gharwaalon se chipkar, apphi ne toh humein godhbharai ke liye ghar bulaaya..(but yes keep the wishes losw kyunki paat nahi CT kya denge)

      Dia,
BIG SHIDDAT for track not going OTT comedy way. It is simple. Yes very KKGish but here is where I want Nani Khushi and Payal Khushi convos to gently subtly tell Khsuhi that she needs to focus on her married life to Arnav while they are all there for Anjali too.
Perhaps even a tadakaa maar ke from mami ki kyun phati sadi hum sab ka holidayingwa pe gaye hain jo sirk tumhi Anjali biity ki taking care kar sakat hau..hello hi bye bye!!

Pleej guys use the larger team...SHIDDAT!!!!

And can we have a ArHi scene where he clarifies to a pouting Khushi who feels she is being sidelined from taking care of Di that everyone and most of all him trust her with Di but it is juts that she needs to also think of herself at times and they cannot always thin kabout Di. had she not told him that the family were also there to take care of Di. Toh Khushi ab tumhaare time free hai toh hum jo chaahe woh kar sakte hain ;) (SKD hello hi...)

    2. LMAO! REALLY?? :P I actually got a bit hooked onto that show coz I saw on of the old scenes...although both the actors are mediocre, the characters look wonderfully sketched (I didn't feel him like ASR, infact felt him a bit like samrat from MJHT, Sanaya's previous show), which is what got me hooked onto it a bit..esp when they showed a song sequence of "milan abhi adha adhura hai" from the movie vivah and I adore that movie to bits.. but then, when I saw all the IPK-dejavu moments I'm like..no way am I watching this!!! :P

    4. don't know what he has turned into ... but his initial characteristics were shown as such ... I give a damn to what society says, choti aukadh ki ladki&ameer ladko ko fasana .. blah blah blah ... only I loved hearing ASR say that :P

hindi soap turns the character to mesh up with actors characteristics after a while or sometimes starts with similar traits so that they are in character even when not in focus.

      That's where ODC stands out!!

    5. Monu, PKDH is "pyar ka dard hai, meetha meetha pyaara pyaara" :P naam lete lete subah ho jayegi! :P LOL.. it airs at 10 pm on starplus..

@Sam..well, I haven't watched him earlier, so I don't know...I felt his facade of indifference towards and society and marriage in general is coz of his own parents' failed marriage and coz he has never recieved family love in his entire life before.. unlike ASR's, which was due to gruesome past.. and that trait of the hero's was similar to samrat's, who also doesn't believe in marriage coz his parents' marriage was a failure...and the same "have 1000 friends, but none so close to me as my female best friend" thingy.. which was totally a samrat-gunjan thing for me (and for all the fans of the pair)..

      Delete
    8. I like her too, Sandy.

      I watch it occasionally.
I find the hero a little different from ASR- not ghamandi- he is totally the 'she is my good friend'line for now- has not realised it is love. The girl kind of knows her feelings for him. It will be typical Rajshri, I think will do good- has all the right masala- plus they will not go Kekta way.Rajshri sticks to family values. Initially found it boring, yesterday was OK. I like the dad and mom. Leads are also OK.

      OFC, can't compare to IPK.

    9. okk ....no idea of anything actually .....saw few episodes after their so called engagement broke ....and that's all I heard him say ....was having total deja vu of our bitwa and bitiya when they met. Rest I gather from promo, it plays hell lot and few minutes here and there. They have definitely taken away his angry and sombre look that much I have gathered.

I like senior cast better than the leads. His mom is very pretty and good actor too so is dad is his role.

      Delete
    10. Sama- PKDH hero characterisation is very different from ASR.. Aditya is a sweet guy, always considerate, and courteous, just does not believe in marriage..the one scene you mention was after he was hoodwinked into getting engaged by the girl's uncle and he thinks she was part of the plan..also watch it only once in a while - but it is typical rajashri stuff

      Mads,

Rahi baat copying ki - to kafi sari cheeze IPK main bhi original nahi thi na..A lot of the scenes in IPK are straight lifts from movies or previous serials too..bas hamare minds mein IPK chap gaya hai :)

and I like the hero's acting better than the heroine's.. but I think she'll improve..esp if this is a rajshri show..

@sri..yaar its not the copying that's affecting me as such coz IPK is nowhere near original, except the concept of the girl he loves turns out to be the girl his jeeja lusts after.. but the scenes and some moments are complete rip offs.. :P but that's what..copying from copied stuff is twice as irritating! :P

      Delete
    13. Yep, I watch that show off and on, I like the hero better too, the heroine is too dumb looking ... but neither are anything more than mediocre. I like the two grandfathers better, and the boy's parents are both good actors, so is the boy's maasi, and his Dadi ... the senior characters are all better than the leads :)))

THREE shows on SP are on marriage ... IPK is the only one I could sit through!! The Behna show was like an extended Chitrahar ... it got really boring ...

btw, time for some bi***ing ;) ... did anyone see Maanvi in her wedding lehnga??!!! She looked like a Manorama Mami types :D So overmade up and such garish costumes and jewelry!!!

their wedding invitation promo was so sweet, i felt jealous for a bit.. but then, ours was a remarriage.. so no guests, right? (at least, thats how i console myself..)

    1. Loved Khushi’s plan. And really glad ASR decided to stick on to it.
Never thought the CD would be the scan- ,good thinking, CVs!
And what a plan! Torment VLR to the point of madness and then expose him in front of the whole family. Waah, kya baat!

    2. Loved N K today.
He EXCELLED in the dholwaala bit, with the evil look of determination- and the way he came down from the stage, in to the audience, to torment VLR further.

    3. Every one acted well today, in ascending order from nani (I was a little disappointed with nani) to ASR. DB was also surprisingly good today, she really worked on her expressions today. Barun was the best! An d ASR’s characterization was really good- telling di to please listen to the whole story as soon as she wanted to go blind again!

    1. 4. VLR- he knew that the skit was to expose him the moment they mentioned the baby- got up to leave.
But he was not prepared for the extent to which K had done her homework.
Out came the dholwaala- and Anjali’s batti started lighting up. This is why I loved the skit.
It took Anjali back to that fateful day, made her RE-LIVE it, she started remembering the events of the day, one by one, a day she had buried and decided to move on. Khushi went to the ROOT of the problem- ANJALI NEEDED TO MOURN THE LOSS OF HER BABY- this time, fully knowing what had happened, and unknown to Khushi and the rest of the family, Anjali knows WHY it happened.
Because she did not trust her brother’s words, she dared to question his wisdom and chose to rely on her knowledge of VLR- the face that he had shown her. Yes, Anjali is going to feel very bad about that.

      5. VLR transformation- Shyam apna manasik santulan kho chukaa hai???-
      Shyam, the chameleon.

First, he feigned innocence- all this is fabricated and ASR asked about the medicines- OUT came the truth- those were not harmful for her, only for the baby.

And once the cat was out of the bag, Shyam showed another colour- he connected all the dots- all the evidence is against him- only way out is to plead MADNESS? Khushi and nani, the look of disbelief in their faces- did they buy the madness?
Anjali- too shocked to react or assess.
ASR- carefully weighing each and every move of Shyam’s: he will not make a mistake- he has seen all the faces of the man.

      6. Costumes:
Anjali: heavily embroidered saree- thankfully, no glitter.
      Khushi – WOW! WOW! WOW!
Bitwa, are you looking?(blouse could have ben better- liked Anjali’s better.)

      7. Pre-cap: Makes me sad for a reason.
      Anjali slaps Shyam.
Nani and K look shocked. WHY? Did they buy the madness theory? (K has no right to look shocked since she herself slapped VLR, why does she look shocked when it is Anjali’s turn? I remember she looked shocked when ASR hit him also, that I could attribute to her surprise that ASR actually bought her story without any proof.)

So, if everyone else is convinced of madness and hence shocked because Anjali did not buy madness theory- Does this mean Gul is throwing a Googly at me? “Humein pehle se hi shak tha aap par”??? OH NO!

      8. If that happens, I’ll be back with my 2 kostens. Kidding…
I am already in SKD since Sandy brought us the news about the movie date! Welcome, honeymoon track, with K babysitting Di . BTW, what will ASR say when the whole family lands up?
      UNBELIEVABLE, KKGSR!!!

    2. Oh yes, forgot this one- the idea, narration and the script- written, executed , enacted- BEAUTIFULLY.

And that saree- sory, I was majorly distracted by the saree and how good it looked on Sanaya.

      Delete
    3. This too.

Khushi looks tense and slightly unsure as VLR comes down. he cannot hide her emotions under a masak of cheerfulness there- the time has come- it is do or die- the last chance she has with Di- will she succeed or not?
Did she read VLR correctly or not?

And VLR, for a moment doubting if he is actually going cuckoo or is someone playing a trick o him- checks out- no, every one is down here only- sits for the skit with an unsettled mind. He was just ripe for the next step- exactly WHERE KHUSHI WANTED HIM!
      Congrats, bitiya. You did it!

      Delete
    4. VLR, doubting if he is going cuckoo.. even during the skit, his constant glances towards the back.. the way he tried to slink off when they mentioned the baby, and anjali stopped him..

the moment after the revelation, when khushi stood so broken.. (no dialogue.. just that posture and expression.. the perfect rendition of sadness.. wow) and then the dialogue.."aur sab kuch khatam ho gaya". (thud)

'do or die', nani's acting, Anjali's saree- we agree on even the smallest things today. *hugs*

    6. Su, thanks!
Actually even Mami was a bit off a couple of times, but that was TOO much details to add *rofl* ... already the post is sooo long!!! Yep, Arnav Khushi were tense as Shyam came down ... this was their final battle. And NK was already on the watch.

I found Anjali's saree too garish for the occasion actually, and even her hair and her jewelry ... overdone for a simple family celebration. Payal's jewelry was better, lighter and more delicate ... Khushi's was of course very pretty and suited her completely, she looked the most elegant of the lot, followed by Payal. Anjali seemed more like Manorama Mami ;)

    7. Khushi looked gorgeous,

Anji looked OTT and her acting was also off in places.

Can we pleej not have long red nails for Anji anymore - I will live with long nude nails...

  12. I so want in the future episode Shyam should also blurt out the truth of shashlik getting paralysed and the slap should start from an jail and end with Kushi.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Further in his phsychic talk he should blurt his deeds on his own from the beginning ie., saving Kushi in Lucknow to arnav kidnapping.

  14. Saw the epi when it aired here.....online its always a bit of a rush...kinda stunted....

I was a bit surprised that Shyamu almost took a moment to compose himself before he gave the reason.....don't know why ...almost as if he was not ready to divulge the real reason.....Its like ek adhyay ho gaya....ab yeh ladai Shantivan se ladna mushkil hain...almost a mental acceptance that he cannot continue this fight from Shantivan anymore.....let me make an exit without raising any more suspicions.
It looked as if he was trying hard to look like a psychopath..as if he doesn't want the Raizadas to know what his real reason is...It was either this or Abhaas does not know how to act like a psychopath....

Well, if it does turn out that Shyam has another reason for his behaviour, I wuld say Abhaas brought that edginess to his character far beyond the brief of what can be written and emoted.....I will go with Su....she pointed that Shyam is putting on a madman act...somehow it seemed the same to me.....

I am not a great fan of AM's acting but he makes Shyam come alive just by his dialogue delivery....for that alone i would give him marks....where he lacks in the emoting dept according to me, he conveys thru his nuanced delivery....Today was again such a day again for me....

    1. Rekh,

.almost a mental acceptance that he cannot continue this fight from Shantivan anymore.....let me make an exit without raising any more suspicions. :

Yes, this is exactly what I felt. This is because Shyam suddenly reverted from his true nature of denying it all and smoothly started with the madman act. I call it an act, because when he came down the stairs, he was looking around, almost expecting that someone was playing a trick on him.

The way he reacted in the room, indicates that he does indeed have a psychiatric problem- all the overacting, intolerance is a part of it- Psychopath sounds good there.

But after he blurted out about the tabs, he suddenly had a fb of the scan of the baby- he suddenly connected all the dots PROBABLY- that he was really and truly trapped. Till then he was watching K unfold the story and was not sure till what extent she knew. I like to think that in that one instant he realised she had manipulated him even before the skit.

I LOVE THIS: Compare it with the slapgate.
There, Shyam had the time to plan something and take on an unsuspecting Khushi. Here, she had all the time to plan and came up with a better dhamaaka than him. BRILLIANT! More than tit for tat.

And more importantly for me, ASR in this scene- elaborating on what J said below- the growth of the brother in him.

He does not want to shield her anymore, he wants to be with her to share her pain- ANOTHER lesson in relations that K has taught him. All that strength that kept him from breaking down, it came from K.

And the TRACE OF THE SHATIR DIMAG- unfortunately, this is all we will get for now: He looks on unflinchingly as Shyam takes on his new avataar- he might fool them all, but not ASR.

    2. This was the loophole I mentioned yesterday.
I thought the CVs would leave this loophole for Shyam to come back later. That he will come back later to lure Anjali again with "RS, woh to hum pagal ho gaye the"- because she did see a different face of Shyam for one day- he could later attribute it all - the razor, shoutng about the medicines- imaginary glass shards - everything as I was probably going mad back then. This was, going by the promo- where he just confesses to himself- so I thought K will not use the video footage. Now that the revelation did not play out like the promr, was actually BETTER than the promo, I hope that loophole is not there any more. I really hope Anjali will never think of forgiving her mad, psychopathic husband- if she does...she deserves to be shot.

      Delete
    3. the loophole would not be there from Anji's angle.....not possible considering the man has admitted his guilt....
it would seem not only be strange but also a gud amount of sympathy lost for her if she had gained some y'day....

if at all they want to keep Shyam in the story, they would use him more as a person working from outside to bring about destabilisation....(no creativity in me to guess how) if there is indeed any story just for the sake of bringing on a new track. Villains are gud for continuation of tracks.....they keep the humdrum out....

    4. Yes, agree with you both ... the way he closes his eyes, takes a couple of seconds and then opens them and launches into the "I am bad" psycho act ... it seems that's what it is ... AN ACT. So he knows they know about the pills, the short circuit, the video footage ... no way he can play innocent any more. And he has incriminated himself in words ... the abortion pills ...
His last foothold in the house was Anjali, he didn't manage to convince anyone else in the family this time round with his charming ways except for Dadi, and Dadi is gone ... now he's lost Anjali too ... he's lost this round, so better to get out.

  15. Good epi ,overdone and dragged a bit on the shyam going crazy parts, the initial baby crying 360 and then the later toys 360...

rest of it was all great.. Sanaya was fantastic -everyone else was very good at their parts ..NK as the dholi was wonderful...

Did not like Arnav today - was too wimpy and teary for me...I mean none of this is a surprise for him..he should have been strong - steeled himself to support Di, but he was looking as if he would crumble before she did..

Barun does a great job looking emotional - but if that's all he is shown doing, he ends up being the dude in distress with Khushi, the knight in Chamkili armour coming to the rescue :)

    1. sri, i do not like the 360 camera when it is whirling too long.. but then, i guess today was shyam's pinnacle..

arnav is not surprised.. he is regretful that he let this happen, he was not careful enough to protect di's happiness.. he knew how much she looked forward to the chotti si rajkumari.. in a way, it was the reason he even married khushi.. and to cause his Di's pain, his inability as a brother..

he looked too weepy to me on the first watch.. but then i remember.. he has taken to his heart that he is the protector of his Di's happiness.. to make her go through this pain, even as bitter medicine.. is too much for this soft hearted brother..

Arnav had tried all the normal ways.. he warned shyam to mend his ways.. he blocked his allowance.. he even kicked him out of RM, but he could not manage to replace the focus of Di's life.. but this pain of revelation is the only way this idol is gonna be removed from anjali's heart.. he knows this is painful for her.. but it has to be done.

so, IMHO, arnav was not crying for his own pain of di losing her baby, he was crying for Di's pain of having to go through this heartbreak of the worst sort.

      Delete
    2. 'he should have been strong - steeled himself to support Di':

      Sri,
He did not come across as wimpy to me. I did not feel he was crying. In fact, I thought he had steeled himself- no more of the tears and pleas weakening him (unlike slapgate where he said, 'we will take this up later', because di had crumbled.).

And whatever tears came, agree with Jaya, it was for the pain that his Di has to go through.

      Delete
    3. I agree with Sri here ... he was prepared, he should have remained strong all through. He knows already Di lost her baby, he knows she will be pained seeing it again ... he has to hold strong for her.

Arnav is emotionally very weak, Khushi is way stronger than him ... she had that sadness for Anjali in her eyes, yet her voice remained firm and clear all through. Arnav gets his strength from Khushi, Di only weakens him.

    4. Actually the character ASR is always 14 year old when it comes to Di....the way i see this story, is that he is still taking baby steps with Khushi' help......I am not yet convinced of his emotional maturity and for me it will not be complete until he introspects about the choices that Khushi and Anji have taken in their lives to face up to reality.....this is not make comparisons but a general let go of baggage.....I doubt it will happen in the serial...

we are having these doubts only becos the makers have not shown that graph....we saw a young man whose emo age was 14 and he came to stand by his Khushi on that marriage day and so we have come to expect that somewhere he has grown
We expect he will be able to really provide emotional succour to his sister...but at this moment, he himself is in need of it.

      Delete
    5. true Dia, arnav is weak.. he has the emotional maturity of a 14 year old.. he has clamped down on his emotions, lived his life only fueled by the passion to write his own destiny. voh duniyadari samajhtha hain, dildaari nahi... inside, he was still the 14 year old crying for his lost mother.

that he let khushi into his heart is big enough.. the way he defended his love to dadi.. was indeed a teenage junoon.. that he accepts that dil ke baatein are indeed important.. makes a change in him.. but he needs to learn a lot to be a well adjusted man.. i'm hoping that this story will take the whole journey.

      Delete
    7. Rekha, Jaya ... LOL both of you ... Arnav is emotionally still 14.

I would put it another way ... all of us role play different roles at different times. To our parents, we are always children, to our children, always parents, to our spouses, we are partners, soulmates, friends ... when I meet college friends, we revert back to college days in our jokes and chats.

Same with siblings ... I am always the younger one in relation to my brother ... whatever I am to the world ... however senior a position I hold. The same for e=me, however senior a position he holds at work, however much money he makes, for me he is still the same brother I grew up with, teased, fought with ... what he is for the world does not change what he is for me one bit.

Similarly with Arnav Anjali ... granted that Arnav is over-sensitive to his Di's mental state, but for any brother, watching the breakup of his sister's marriage is tough, knowing that he has not been able to protect her from that pain.

Maybe he thinks that somewhere he has failed as a brother, especially with no parents, it was his duty to check out Shyam more thoroughly - did he do that job adequately? Should he have suspected Shyam when he travelled so much, instead of fobbing Anjali off with words like "All men have to work, stop bugging your husband" ... Should he have checked out Shyam more carefully when Shyam told him about being in love with Khushi ... he could easily have checked out Khushi's background ... but he did nothng of the sort. All those doubts would arise in Arnav's mind ... all the things we wondered why he as a tycoon is not checking out, those doubts and thoughts would be arising in his mind, the biggest regret being, COULD HE have done something differently and prevented this pain to his sister? And if he looks back, there were lots of times he did go wrong, in his bid to prevent his sister getting hurt ... the biggest one I can think of is that he didn't tell her what Shyam told him that day on the terrace, that Shyam wanted Khushi, and Anjali was nothing for him. Despite that, Arnav allowed Shyam to stay on in RM, threatened him but allowed him to stay ... just to keep Anjali's happiness intact. WHY? When he knew it was a false happiness?

His own doubts about his role in the whole drama would be making him more upset and weakening him ... while Khushi is the type who never thinks too much, she just tries to move on. Plus she has the clarity of a clear conscience ... she feels that she did her best under the circumstances ... now whether she did or not is a different matter, but that's what her guiding principle is ... her Devi Maiyya will guide her. And that is her strength. That's what she told Anjali also ... bless us that we will do the right thing. And then she goes ahead and does it.

    9. Dia,

I believe so too. For Arnav teh evening was tough because perhaps there were instances in Anjali's life wehn he wished he had chosen different, dont things different so she would not today be where she was.

He alrady accepted himself to be a failure to Khushi in the hospital. Everytime Di is a littl bit happy, despite his vows and promises to keep her happy and his heartfelt attempts, he is unable to ensure her happiness which slips away from her like sand through one's fingers.

The onstage moment when SHyam said I LU RS! Arnav reacted becasue he himself had heard the man tell him that he had neevr loved her.

So yes I guess yday to some extent the point came homt to Arnav that it were some of his choices that had brought ANjali to this point in life. Perhaps if she had chosen differently, the baby and her hope for happiness may have lived today? Maybe she would have been spared that one loss?

      *APPLAUSE* to fandom!

I said this before the wedding.
If they brought on another separation track, which to me, was the way they were going with all the symbolisms- and I did not mind- the CVs had to really THINK- because a great majority will hate that track.

And yes, they listened to fandom or SP or whoever or their own SBS brains and changed the whole story- Brilliantly done too.

So, the real credit for the trp goes to fandom.

The CVs ought to thank the audience for the feedback.
I wish at least 2 or 3 years down the line Gul will let us know what exactly happened there.

  18. Dia,

Beautiful edit. You have echoed many of my sentiments about the play as the story was narrated.

    My first thought on epi:
"Dushman na kare dost ne woh kaam kiya hai
Umr bhar ka gham humein inaam diya hai"

How the rest plays out and whether the rest of the song plays out, I shall wait and see.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Rekha,

Since we were wondering about the sleeping and not waking up part, and how Anjali would become Ma Durga well a thought that struck me after the epi was this:

I am speaking of Anjali and Khushi's reactions at the end when Shyam accepts his hand in the deed of killing his child:

Anjali was indeed sleeping all this while. Her wake up gong has been sounded. She was resolutely blind and deaf to everything around her in her desperate (selfish?) need of a happy family. Only if that was in place she was able to be happy. She need both a doting brother and a loving husband all this while. From hereon what happens, we will see..

But it was Khushi who though awake had not woken up.
    Jaanke anjaan hum banein
    Dekh ke andekha humne kiya

Rightly she should not have been shocked when Shyam confessed to his crime of killing his baby but she was. Because someplace within her, she still believed he could change.

Despite knowing how he had duped her, misled Anjali and the Raizadas, tried to kill Arnav, lusted after her in Arnav's absence though she was married - all because he said that one line at the hospital about pain at the loss of his child. She again chose to forget the past and looked only at the present.

Khushi has been the bigger victim at Shyam's hands yet she allowed herself to be swayed at his words. She is somehow yet to internalize that she was a victim at Shyam's hands and only when she truly accepts that will she be able to shed any scope of doubt at his claims of reformation. The attack on babuji will have to have a bearing in the context of Shyam victimizing Khushi.

She tells Arnav to accept the past and its lessons and make it a part of his life, but has Khushi indeed done so in her own life? I think not.

Shyam spoke of the allure of Shantivan - I believe it was the allure of wealth and nearness to Khushi. A chance to fleece Anjali and perhaps earn a better image in Khushi's eyes.

He had once told Babuji that he needed Rani Sahiba for the money but in his other hand he would always have Khushi. He told Arnav on the night of Payash wedding that Khushi and his love for her had now become a part of his very lifeblood. "ragon mein samaa chuki hain.."

And therein is the potential next act of the play. We will know more once we see the epi tonight play out

    1. Shyam's allure of Shantivan...strange that u picked those words and put it in the post....u know when i heard it y'day...i almost thot he is trying to say...this place belongs to me..(i was wondering if that was the next part of the action...)well anyways...then he went to put on that act and i dismissed it as a convenient way of getting out without explaining his real motives. i still think he has another motive..dunno why...

On Khushi, i doubt if the makers will ever focus on that simply becos of notions of heroine-mahanta that everyone holds dear....isn't that what every SP heroine is supposed to do..put others before self always...i have no hopes on Khushi having any introspection of that kind....

Sandy, strange that u put the one dialogue that was a classic quote from Shyam....it was the only real indication of his junoon for Khushi...later on i thot it was a red rag to a bull...almost inciting Arnav to marry Khushi...somehow i have never understood this man or his motives becos he has never remained really true to his stated objectives...apart from some successful and not so successful frankenshyam experiments..his real junoon seems hidden for now....for me...

    2. Rekha,

When I sat to write, allure was the word and indeed it is that which makes SHyam want to stay connected to that house. Keeping it simple it si what he says - money and his love for Khushi. those 2 have been constants. (I was seeing the Feb face off scene and the dialogue hit me).

Shyam in that instance was like Lord Voldemort being resurrected before Harry. It resulted in Arnav coming to know the one truth which Shyam had wished to keep hidden for a while longer though eventually it would have come out.

Hasn't Shyam always believed that he was the king of Shantivan? That the respect, comfort and all that he got because he was worth of them, he deserved them.

I will wait to see what more he says today but I will not be surprised if he says that all that teh family did for him was nothing more than his due, for marrying a emotionally weak Anjali and putting up with her eccentricities and the family's close monitoring.
He was never anything more than Anjali's khilona / crutch.

As for his stake on wealth - it may come in now or if they so choose he can always come with a background of being from family duped in business by Arnav's dad leading to the annhilation of his family.

      Delete
    3. I think the makers will just let it be a case of a mad man becos he would have to be mad to kill his own blood for a slice of wealth...that seems a more acceptable explanation...

    5. J,

the makers are in love with Shyam just like we love ArHi - so not to worry - ek lauta villain hai - he will make a temporary exit and again come back.

So who will bring him back again? hmm Dadi?

      Delete
    6. J,
      what is 600? 600 episodes?

      Sandy,
With you on the family rivalry bit- I feel Shyam is a mentally unsound person who wants revenge on the Raizadas because he believes AD ruined his family. Anjali was the means to gain entry into RM, Khushi is the sweet innocent girl for whom he just fell- and believed in all earnesty that his love for her was pure...and justfied...he cannot allow her to be anyone else's.

After this, I don't know if Shyam can come back to RM- max he can play 'I went mad' card- but will 're-entry' be repeated?

      Delete
    7. Went back to watch the episode again after your post ... I don't think Khushi was shocked at Shyam's admission as much as she was shocked at the complete lack of guilt and remorse. She already knew he had killed the baby, she accepted it to Arnav in the car park, when she apologised for bringing Shyam back.

But has she learned to make the lesson a part of her life? She will never trust Shyam again, that's for sure. But has she learned that there are some people who can never change and can never be trusted? I think not.
But then, that is the core belief of Khushi - Khushi believes in the good in other people, believes in giving everyone a chance, and in forgive and forget. And to be fair, that concept works with most people ... if you look for good in others, you will always find some there, if you look for bad in them, they will show you that. Nobody is bad without any reason ... and that's why we also keep looking for a reason to Shyam's behaviour, a link to the past, a family betrayal ... something which will explain why he is so evil.

Now let's see tonight what Shyam says ...

  21. Rambles – 10th Oct

Episode 360 - well well well indeed a faceoff 360!

Between a man clad in a 3 piece suit & another in an Indian kurta
Between the devil seeming hero & the god seeming villain
    Between a brother & a husband
Between Arnav Singh Raizada & Shyam Manohar Jha

On a dark night, 7+ months ago, a dark side of Shyam's life was revealed to Arnav. He confronted his jija who without shame & any compunction confirmed the truth:
I never loved Anjali. But I am head over heels in love with Khushi. Khushi is my life, my junoon, my everything. She & my love for her are now a part of the blood coursing my veins. And only one woman stands between us - Rani Sahiba!

When a brother reacted in ager, at the deceit to his Di, to himself & his family from the man they all had loved, accepted & respected, Shyam had mocked Arnav.
Shyam had taken pleasure in the chatpataana of the caged Arnav. He told Arnav that he could no longer hide the truth of his love for Khushi from Anjali & perhaps time had come to tell Anjali the truth.
Shyam had challenged Arnav to stop his ghisi piti dhamkis / threats to Shyam & go & try to tell his Di everything. He said what can you do at the most? tell your Di the truth about me & my love - go make haste go tell her he mocked. And finally twisting the dagger he had moments ago plunged into Arnav's heart, Shyam very confidently & mockingly said, even if you do manage to tell her do you think she will believe you?

The challenge thrown by Shyam that day was received & today ASR gave his response in a manner befitting a Gladiator! Sau sunaar ki ek lohar ki!

Arnav did not have to tell his Di anything nor did he have to try & make her believe him over her husband. Shyam did all his work for him. Once the circumstantial proof collected had been showed to all, Shyam was quick to refute it all as a falsehood, a plan to malign him. Did Arnav then accuse him of what was on screen – Oh No! For whatever his emotional faults maybe, shaatir Arnav learns from his mistakes. He knows what happened the last time Khushi asked Di to believe her words. The attempt failed. So today he goes for the jugular using Distract & Attack. Arnav accused Shyam of another bigger crime knowing in his haste to deny Shyam will let slip his complicity in the actual one – of killing the baby! Automatic confession!
Arnav who all evening sat through the drama of seeing his Di’s life replayed before him – (am sure that fateful night would have crossed his mind when she was smiling only to have her smiles wiped out by death & defamation). He knew where this was all heading. It was torture for him to sit & relive every moment knowing he would be unable to change any single one & thereby influence the eventual outcome of pain for his loved one. So he sat & chose to inflict pain on himself by suffering manifold, for his Di, for his failure to protect Di & her happiness. Just like the other day when he stood by to see Khushi being maligned & slammed by Shyam because he had not proof & hence no other way to bring out the truth.
And once the last card had been played, he swiftly pounced on Shyam making sure Di heard 2 vital messages – the family never believed Shyam after the earlier tamaasha at home. Nani & Arnav let him in only for Di’s sake.
When Shyam confessed to killing the baby and his evil intention, ASR stepped back letting the man hang himself for he had won his challenge.

    1. Rambles – About Shyam confessing

This has been coming for the past 7 months since that night of the Payash wedding. That night he had told Arnav that he was fed up of living a lie, doing this drama. So it was better to tell everyone especially Anjali the truth. He may not have meant it then.

But since that night, Shyam has gradually been suffocated and frustrated. He has lived with the fear of being exposed and with all the psycho attack on him in the past 2 days, he is on edge. Besides knowing the family hated him, seeing them do all this only for Di’s sake seemed amiss because he also knew Arnav tolerated him but would never condone a celebration of a dead relationship ideally.

Since that night, money and Khushi his primary likes were taken away from Shyam. His hope that perhaps Khushi was bending towards him also died when she saved Arnav by duping him. Perhaps with the loss of the child he hoped for that one more chance to make a dent in Khushi that perhaps he was feeling remorse and had changed. (I have a gut feeling about the precap keeping in mind what happened during Arnav Shyam slapgate, let’s see!)

But after the play, after what he had seen, knowing what the family knew, understanding that his only hope of still continuing in the family would be as an eternal slave to Anjali whose belief in him had also been shaken today. So slave by lie or some maan by truth? Then Shyam took a deep breath allowed all the frustration of the months past to seep out and let his true self emerge. He said what he had always wanted to say what he was actually feeling because after today the family would in no way let him be with Anjali how much ever she begs and pleads.
So why pretend now? Instead the anger at the spate of defeats recently and his perceived self victimization / selfish utilization by the family (nani and Arnav dialogues of Anjali ke liye) came to fore. And he accepted his deed. Besides I have always wondered if Shyam had actually welcomed the baby or since that day seen it as a hindrance in his plan to be with Khushi. Because Arnav did tell him in the 2nd face off that night that if Di had not been pregnant he would have chucked Shyam out of her life forever.

    2. Oh and can I say I loved Akash bitwa yday - ho initially the canned shots seeemed off but he was alos the first to make the connection about the glass pieces, Anji, Shyam and her being hurt. And I loved his expression in the precap.

I loved how Arnav lets Anjali lean on Shyam throughout and only reaches out to hold her when she yells at them to stop knowing she will step on the glass and hurt herself and tries to move away.

The earlier confrontation, Arnav tried to take Anjali away whereas Shyam amde her stay while today Shyam tries to walk away and Arnav makes Anjali sit and watch.

Interestingly both times Shyam was unmasked before Anjali, it was her brother who held her and supported her. Shyam only worried about himself in either case. Never about Anjali or about holding her.

Even ydayd when the paalna pic comes on, though it was a hurtful memory, Shyam wants to go in fear whereas Anjali stops him asking him to be strong that she is with him to shoulder this loss.

    5. kidu, i read the lambaa wala ramble.. then thought "once again, she does it.. when i take it down two notches, she elevates it five notches."

yaar your description of the IPK journey has totally pulled me back from my fantasies of cradle snatchers and sexy bwoys canoodling behind closed doors.. and this SKD you paint is truly beautiful, i tell ya..

shyam did indeed taunt arnav on that day when he learned the truth.. but then arnav's brain went to siberia and he needs khushi to show him everything.. (ishh, not THAT) i mean, the sleuthing has been khushi's from the kidnapping till the drama..

what did ASR do? even he does not know. he needs someone to tell him what to do, because he is too close to the subject to think rationally.

even while he agrees that his di has to see the deceit of her husband with her own eyes, he is scared. scared of hurting his di, scared of his di losing her trust in ODB.. he repeatedly asks her.. "even when you are not happy, please believe that i will not do anything to harm your happiness" (hmpf)

yes, shyam is vile. he wants money. he wants power over the raizada house, like he enjoyed before ODG came into the picture. he wants khushi. he saw khushi first, went to woo her and claim her in marriage. perfectly in her own style.. yet she had fallen for the bad boy by then... so he tried other means of gaining her.. failed.. still did not stop trying.

he does not care if anjali is living or dead, he wants the power he has in RM. now that the truth is out, i dont think he ever will gain that.
but of course, that scene is half done.. so will watch the rest before forming a solid opinion.

and yes, arnav did indeed bait him with words of killing TQ.. so that the truth came out of TF's mouth.

    6. Sandy...me soching still....could not reply..was busy in AD..

want to hear Shyamu's rambles today...call me a madcap if u wish....

I don't think he is looking for re-entry....if u see the promo...it was about ghar ki khushian...now that did not play out and i don't expect it to play out...either that was an aberration in the wording or it will be for later.....

    7. Sandy,

I read ur post and somehow at the end of it..a song just struck me....for the first time a song for Anji...(yeh mujhe kya ho gaya hain) i will quote it...from Umrao jaan...

ye kyaa jagah hain doston, ye kaun sa dayaar hain
had-ye-nigaah tak jahaa, gubaar hi gubaar hai

yeh kis makaam par hayaat mujh ko leke aa gayee
na bas khushi pe hain jahaan, na gam pe ikhtaiyaar hai

tamaam umar ka hisaab maangti hain zindagi
yeh mera dil kahe to kya, ye khud se sharmsaar hai

bula raha hain kaun mujh ko, chilmanon ke us taraf
mere liye bhi kyaa koee, udaas bekaraar hai

    8. Monu / J / Rekha,

      Aww thank u

Aaj I was free and pretty despo to discuss with someone but no one replied so decided to do Emo atyachar ;)

      J,

Aww 5 points up kya - made my day!!
I dunno but when Shyam put his foot in mouth with that smirk in ASR's face perhaps a quick flash of just those few secs from that night may have made an impact - normal junta wud have forgotten.

Also I was not too happy with family reactions - esp Nani or even Mami - they are not silent watchers someone shoudl hav sadi something onl to be told to hold n by ASR adn Akash - Akash cottoned on early. Shyam would have tried to say something but then again a look from Akash silences him. The director seemed only to have focused on Shyam and kind of missed a few cues elsewhere - so agree on your 2 notches down.

Ideal world ASR would have done lots but on a channel, the fact that ASR gets some high points itself is great warna in all other serials it is the females who go solo superwoman!

      Rekha,
Yes I want to see how today plays out - yet to see epi with Shyam rambling. He will come back Rekhs his business is unresolved - as long as the family is at peace and he is out there he will always try to sabotage their khusiyaan.

Oh and the song - super!!
"yeh kis makaam par hayaat mujh ko leke aa gayee
na bas khushi pe hain jahaan, na gam pe ikhtaiyaar hai"

  22. My expectations from Anjali:

    1. Today, a slap after the truth sinks in- folowed by a breakdown- almost can't believe Anjali will suddenly become strong.

    2. I want a confession, in private- not to Chhote, but Khushiji, THIS IPK night, that she was in a way responsible for losing the baby- it was her fault. And I want K consoling Anjali that all this was written, there is no point in dwelling on the past, time to move on- not in one epi may be but over the week in bits. Will like if nani is around to witness and bless this SIL bonding.

    3. I want Anjali to find solace in her god and emerge strong slowly. And I hope she goes back to the old teasing sister and daughter of the family.

I've had enough of bro-sis, I want to see SIL-SIL, in small bits.

  23. could not help but had to dedicate this to ODC...

    Woh hain zara khafa khafa
to nain yuun milaaye hain ki ho ho
na bol du to kya karu
vo hans ke yun bulaaye hain ki ho ho

    hans rahi hai chaandani
machal ke ro na du kahi
    aaise koi ruthata nahi
    yeh tera khayaal hai
    kareeb aa mere hansi
    mujhko tujhse kuch gila nahi
baat yun banaaye hain ki o ho ..
    Wo hain ..

    aaise mat sataaiye
    zara taras to khaaiye
    dil ki dhadkan mat jagaaiye
    kuch nahin kahunga main
    na ankhiyaan jhukaaiye
    sar ko kandhe se uthaaiye
aise neend aaye hai ki ham ..
    woh hain ..

    1. Haan Di,

I broke my silence there kyunki you were active whaan pe and not replying here - like I told the girls here today I decided to demand attention ala Anji ;)

Hmm on Khushi shocked se I had meant that she was shocked to see the exent of vilenss in someone. Yes she is like that but it is a lesson to her too that she will need to think twice before awarding chances to people, perhaps discuss it with family.
