17/10 - Epi 366 ... Mishmash

Wednesday 17th Oct '12

Please continue episode discussions here, and off-screen drama discussions in the previous post! LOL

Mini ASR ... Patriotism and jagruk nagrik ... vegetable shopping ... kidnap drama ...very stretched car drive ... with OTT Khushi and bored ASR ... though parts of the exchange between Khushi and kid were okay (can't say funny, just okay) ...and in parts, the kid was just too precocious.

Seems like the writers' inertia is rubbing off on the actors ... is it really so difficult to write a decent track and set of episodes?

And Arnav and kid's mother know each other ... well, that was expected ...

*edit*
The episode is not worth an update so here are some thoughts on future track, where the cv's could be taking this ...

1) Happily married couple doesn't make for good drama, besides they already showed Arnav Khushi working together to oust Shyam ... so they need to create an MU leading to separation - emotional or physical. Hence this track - kid is assumed to be Arnav's kid, tension between Arshi.

2) this struck me while watching the episode, plus I've been harping on changing Khushi the last few days ... so Khushi's reaction, though initially is jealous and angry, slowly she sees that kid's mom is beautiful, intelligent, sophisticated ... everything she is not, in other words, ... and Khushi starts feeling insecure about being the right person for Arnav.

3) This might lead to Khushi trying to leave, thinking that Arnav should be with his kid, and the kid's mom, and she is coming in between a perfect family.

4) Arnav furthers those doubts ... today he was rather nasty to Khushi in one bit, reminded me of the husband in English Vinglish, poking fun at his wife ... the jaagruk naagrik snide remark, and the shopping for cheap vegetables. Although that entire scene with Khushi suddenly getting onto a soap box and giving a lecture out of the blue, and her enthusiasm for sasti sabziyan, was stupid in the extreme. She was less enthusiastic about her fresh vegetables when she was running her dabba service! Confused
So Arnav gets friendly with kid's mom ... he obviously knows her from earlier ... and this worsens Khushi's insecurities.

5) Kid's mom ... if she is a vamp, has her eyes on Arnav and is happy to worsen Khushi's fears.

6) totally my SKD - my shiddat since the last few days ... this leads to Khushi trying to change herself for Arnav, grow up and become more mature. Since I heard that in their last show, Geet, the heroine did not mature right till the very end, I have less hopes of this happening ... so I really hope that 4lions is kicked out of IPK soon. Their forte is love stories, they've delivered on that, now they obviously have no clue how to go further. I'd rather see a more SP-fied Khushi if that means she grows up and becomes sensible, rather than this caricature.

I don't know if I have the patience and the tolerance to sit through this track, especially if, as I suspect, cv's are going to make Khushi more and more OTT and immature before she changes, if ever she does ... I cannot stand immature heroines. I have put up with a lot of Khushi's antics only because it is Sanaya ... but I can't take too much more.
Sanaya's acting was OTT today ... her acting always slips when she's not convinced about what she's doing.
Barun was disinterested ... and it showed. He was also looking terrible ... he needs a shave! That thick stubble and greasy look is just not gelling any more. When the leads are not convinced about what they're doing, you have a problem on your hands.
NK was OTT today too ...
The kid was precocious and plain rude.
The mom in the last two minutes was actually the only normal sounding person in the episode.

Oh yes ... added the only thing I found good in the episode - Khushi's new dress in the first scene - I liked the dark mehndi green and dark red combination - very pretty!!!

Chill kar!! Ainavyi kyun BP badhaa rahi hai. Yes last scene with that happy waala music looks omnious. And yes they definitely know each other. But today is Wednesday - the equiv. of a Bolly Fri aur yahaan Wed ke din jo bikta hai wohi chalta hai.

Plus you only said things change in a jiffy in telly. Toh saans lo aur ruko Fri tak.

Today they have met, tomorrow they shall hug and greet. And if in between knuckles get rapped, then a relationship will taper off into an acquaintance or something else will follow.

A rolling stone gathers no moss but once it gains momentum, you cannot stop it easily either.

  2. Okay so wanted to watch the two AB KAY DKD:

Akash Bitwa kay dialogue kay dushman, No wonder they were on him being on full talk time mode ab say silent mode par jo hona hai:(

Gargi: The makers have sidelined AD Now....What do you mean NOW Bey when was he NOT SIDELINED:(

Waisayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy, we kept on saying woah, cvs must be stalking the blog, just didn't realize it was through you, LOL.

If someone got the vishesh tippani Arnav made, kindly enlighten me, I didn't get it.

I like the kiddo, he is a good actor so what he is AB ka DKD.

The female well I have seen her in one of BT shows, probably kggk just cant place her now.

And what was with the happy reunion music when these two saw each other, WT!!!!

Anyway, he is Aarav and he commented on it being old style suit, so a kiddo who idolizes ASR MAYBE?

Whatever, did they just show his old suit as new one???

    Kanjoos.

Ahhhhhhh Payal is back meaning Akash is gayab....Hainnnnnnnn why was Payal back for such a lame scene.

And have to give credit to the actors, watching a blanck wooden cardboard piece and pretending they were watching TV, WAH WAH.

The whole jaagruk naagrik and NK's reaction was OTT, sorry...

I loled on innocent kiddos getting kidnapped, didn't they remember arnav getting kidnapped?

Ulta decoding SP KIDNAPS Barun Sobti from PH:)

I liked the epi wish they had not dragged the c&p car chase for sooooooo long, and he recognized Khushi from such a distance while driving and she didnt recognize his car, koi baat nahin, hota hai.....iss show may ajeeb things hotay hain, am used to it now.

BS looked good today......almost glimpse of the ASR of the old.

Sanaya and the kiddo were damn cute.

Bas that is all I am more excited about the offscreen drama now.

Gargi, so it is nov 2012, oye do post if it gets extended okay:)

She maybe another of Khushi kind who dared challenged ASR but din't have in her to accept him the way he is or was more practicle than Khushi and decided life is much better being independent than being governed by someone. And he might have like her for her practicle sense of living and business sense maybe but not love shove .... He was on his way to achieve everything in his life. Bas itna sa khwab hai hai combined with Paa.

Ha I CAN so see the sadistic CVs at play, you didn't want to sport 8 month baby bump, we will make you mom of an 8 year old.

    9. gargi,

for tv audiences, even the trp ones, the rekindled romance won't work...asr doing right by the kid is possible and while online it will not work, the trp audience may buy into that drama...becos they may not be attached to the arHI story as we are...still a man who has been shown as having problems loving can't be shown as loving another woman in a span of a mnth...

anyways IPK is spoilt for me...not becos asr is likely to have had a past fling....i never thot of him as a celibate person or something like that but i thot he was a careful guy...

but it spoils the aRHIness completely for me...its sad for any child to be in a situation...oh why can't men and women be careful before spawning?esp when there are means to do so...

Hypothetially, the TRP audience is not that fixated with ASR's traits...so it does not matter much to them how he behaves...so they may just buy anything...

so i am presuming that the revenge is aimed to break the IF audience poll...

so, what happens if this also goes in public domain like other matters have....it can't be only be the us at R&R who will have seen thru this ploy..right...wahan bhi kaafi shatir dimags baithe hain...so what happens if the track gets accepted by the IF audience just for kicks..esp the phangurls..

    6. Rekha,
4lions has a gift. Their shows attract a lot of first time tv serial watchers. And there is a small set of regular tv watchers who also watch the show. Their shows always attract international audiences. But each show gets a small percentage of old viewers but a fresh set of new viewers. I watched GHSP and then I started seeing ipkknd even though I was disgusted with 4l but a lot of my friends refused to see a 4l show again r even touch it with a 10 foot pole because of the GHSP experience with this Ph. But ipkknd did get its share of viewers didn't it. So I have discovered that this ph gift wraps well but it comes with an expiry date of 18 months. Last time they sold us short by saying channel s shutting down but this time star plus is not shutting down. I would love to have a mosquito spy on their office to know how their minds work. They are a great case study.
The above is entirely a figment of my own imagination. :-D

I love the spidey mosquito analogy!! ROFL

      Shwethu,
They are indeed a case study and I feel it when you say beginning of the end. For now I am looking at ArHi marriage day and then the few epis last week around Shyam exposure. Baaki recent epis are all dimmed out.

But yes IPK fandom, like you said, is crazy so I wonder what it will unleash on them this time.

For me it is back to happy world of movies and books for a long while after this.

      Delete
    9. Usha,

' Last time they sold us short by saying channel s shutting down but this time star plus is not shutting down.':

They have a reason this time too. Their male lead is in demand all over the place and they have to change the story to accommodate the actors, SP and the fandom and you cannot keep all the people happy all the time.

This time, they want to finish it off nicely, probably give us a sensible ending to Arhi, because they have put so much effort in this (more than Geet, purely going by YT watch)- but we want them to go on, drag it on...

Sorry. I have not watched Geet, so I guess I just cannot understand the sentiments, but I have come across this many times...so, probably, you are right.

      Rekh,
"come to my parlour, the spidey said to the fly"

ha ha ha...we are all caught in the web and spidey is eating our brains!

    10. Yaar, 4 lions jaaye bhaad mein ... I started watching the show for Sanaya and I still do ... otherwise I cannot stand stupid immature heroines! I never watched Geet, and if IPK is ruined, then I will have no problems staying away from 4Lions shows in future, I have no attachment to them at all. Showing their heroines as being smart and strong initially and then degenerating them into stupid women seems to be their pattern.

I just hope Sanaya chooses to stay away from them in the future, that's all.

And BS too - I like him as an actor, and would be happy to check out any show he comes on ... provided it's not 4lions. This has really put me off them! Their storytelling has to be the worst in the business!

I follow Punar Vivah off and on ... have no attachment to the actors, I don't even find them that great honestly, but the girl there is smart and mature, and they are building their story slowly and steadily.

So if 4Lions thinks that their fans will stick to them and swallow anything they dish out, more power to them!

      Delete

    11. Dia,
You know what you say is true. Their heroines have been small town girls, strong and smart with a lot of pride, independence and spirit and they then slowly and surely degenerate into whatever....
As I said, you have to carefully watch the expiry date and throw it in the dustbin once the expiry date has passed. It is dangerous for the viewers health otherwise. But it is very difficult.

    6. Is this girl supposed to be a vamp?
At first, I thought she must be planted by Shyam- another one of ASR's BFTP- opportunistically brought in now with a kiddo and all...does not look like that. The woman seems to have kept away from ASR all these years, she may have been an ex- flame by the look on his eyes
      In that case:
      Op 1: Char assassination ASR:
Kid is his- K decides he should not to be torn by his responsibility towards the kid, mama does not let go of the child- drama drama...

Op 2: Char Assass K: Kid is not ASR's. Ex- flame, yes. K makes the wrong connection...leaves in order for the kid to have a happy family. Gul...please no....

Op 3: none of the above. She is an acquaintance- they are in a deal together right now- K's jealousy track...with the ASR kid, less likely? Or she also makes the wrong ASR- ASR connection, leaves ASR frustrated and angry. Another one of those '9 year old brain' dialogues waiting to pop out.

Sigh...I was busy the whiole day after Gargi's patakha, but by the end of the day I was feeling peaceful. And now with all of you bringing so many saviours for IPK, I know it cannot be that bad, but...will it be the same? The whole remarriage track is still fresh in my memory and they rocked as recently far back as that. I hope the whole team stays on as it is.

On Gargi's news: if BS wants leave by nov, and they want him in love with this female who could be the mother of his son...the very fact that they don't want to kill him off...they will get ASR resurrected again? For now, the show must go on, and BS should get to act in his BW movie. At least that will be better than getting him kidnapped or killed?
Somehow, I can imagine ASR wanting to be a good father and K letting him go if the vamp puts a clause, or if the smart ass kid wants it...only, I don't want him to be ASR's kid. No win situation!

    7. Su,

Depending on which option is chosen and the level to which the actors being engaged in the story shows onscreen we shoudl know ki kya haal hoga.

Since after Shyam expose got done, or even from the time remarriage finished Op1 and Op2 assasinations have been hapepening and now with no TRP maiyya to instill fear we shall see just how much more can happen.

Funny it is navratri no one is thinking Nainital and kanya puja track closure - all worrying about vamp and some otehr stuff on show.

    8. Sandy,
I wish I had watched the epi without knowing the off screen drama.
      I liked the kid.
I liked K's new dress- way better than her usual suits, slightly funny green, goes with red and minimum possible velvet(they have to finish the roll they bought!)

And I loved ASR's expression with the suit- 'uh oh ! what is this? OK. I mean, it is really nice' expression. (Forget that it was one of his own old black suits?)
K- OTT...which is what is most confusing. They'd give this drama with OTT Khushi? OTT jealousy, yes. Anything more than that? Hopefully we'll know by fri at least.

      Delete
    9. Su, a small correction
GArgi's news is not about BS leaving in Nov.....its about the creatives wanting an exit for ASR by Nov....tats not the same thing

altho the mishti spoiler is that when BS leaves, they will close down the show...

but the behind-the-scenes activity is that SP will hand over show to another PH whose headache it will be to bring back ASR (in whichever way they can, becos all Gargi is said they will show ASR leaving and going)

What has the PH achieved in the bargain....
they have killed the character for the online audience with the twist....becos that audience cannot accept such an ASR..the online audience may never know the goings on behind the scenes..

In effect the scenario that Sandy mentioned
"main dtoh oobongi par tumhe bhi le dooboongi"

coming back to whether the PH could not tell their real story, in the past i would said the PH has not been able to do so becos of n pressures but i have been thinking about this...

1)What is the pressure from PH that they have had to face? if tracks as stupid as now were passed why should any tracks of the past have been discarded by PH?
2)Which track of the PH has been changed due to IF pressure? i can't think of any
3)What track of the PH has been changed due to actor pressure/absence? the kidnapping track...but is that not an occupational hazard.....yes accepted this is the only place where they had to bend to online audience pressure becos who knows they would have wanted to ask BS to leave but they couldn't becos of the popularity of the actor....
4)If they have contributed to the success of BS, they would have also derived equal mileage of the association......
      5) if a PH bends to channel, actor, audience demands all the time...phir toh ho chuka serial ka kalyan.....

  6. Random question: is there an actors handler/manager? Like the ones in Hollywood? Coz if there's one then I think this cannot be happening to sanaya or sobti ji. Someone will make sure they don't ruin their characters.

    1. sorry missed ur post...i don't know but i think the handlers will not have that muc say in this setup..its not how telly world works.....u can always put ur foot down but no gain saying what will be the consequences.....its not always in cut and dried form. esp when these guys are not even given the script in advance...just an outline....what do they fight for...at the most they may say, we wont kiss on screen and things like that.....

TV is evolving. It will get there slowly. All these stars are at least 3 shows old. They get smart in that much time.

Btw, am waiting for the day Madhubala has an actor contract fiasco scene from GH - am sure the guy will not let the opportunity pass!

    3. sandy, that was seriously funny! in fact, i am watching madhubala these days.. i like how they took that ghisa pita track and makes it seem so interesting.. even though it is exactly what we have seen in so many movies/serials, (so the story is not doing much for me- even the dialogues are all that i can predict before the actors say them- must be the presentation and the lavish sets and drashti)

  7. We wanted a BFTP dhamaka -the original fizzled out in execution so they came up with another one ? Not read the off-screen drama so I have no clue what is driving this...

I did not like the epi -actually fast forwarded thriu it - ASR looked unkempt, BS looked bored ...
Khushi was OTT and her antics alternated between bored sufferance and irritating :(

The kid's lines were good because we know ASR's dialogs but as a kid - intolerable...:(

BS's vishesh tippani - aise nagrik naa hi jaage to achha hai - a dig at the hyper-reactive fandom ?

Aage dekhte hai hota hai kya - so ex-GF from Harvard making an appearance with a son he did not know off...?Like Rakha said - I was not expecting ASR to be celibate but atleast careful...

Khushi - having to deal with that - ASR having to reassure Khushi she is more important ? It will atleast keep the ASR character intact ...It would make no sense for him to walk out on Khushi for the kid - after all the emo drama thus far ...

Looks like they are copying from Madhubala now - exflame turns up staking claim - cannot disconnect cos there is another family connection ...and she does her best to drive a rift between the two...

Ya fir totally nayee soch - ASR went the Vick donor route and has spawned a bunch of mini ASRs - humne Raktabija Shyam ko kaha that Cvs not ASR :)

I thought the original BFTP was never shown, because SP supposedly meddled citing trps and fan's feelings...yeah, it fizzled out, because they couldn't show it the way they wanted. They did confess that they had to change the story.

  8. question -
Are the CV going down the 'conscious of his responsibilities route'? - could it be that ASR fathered the child (who by the way is not less than 8-9, so ASR should have had him at 20ish)
and did not know of his existence and now he will find out and be all
"My father abandoned me, i cant abandon my son - so am off with his mom! - am sacrificing KKG for son type thing??? - sounds ludicrous ? - but then if the CVs can think up of such a ridiculous track - then why not this?

Opti's link yesterday. I just read it now.

Girls, let us not jump the gun. It looks like they are trying to create a separation track- hopefully with the least bit of damage possible. Afterall, when they had the hate marriage also, the characterisations went for a slight toss- but there were many many beautiful moments.

NOw that Arhi is marrried, what are we expecting?
That they will fight BFTP and everything together? The makers may be finding it boring- nothing much to offer on the Arhi United front. So bring in 'something' that will cause a separation, so they can show us the pull between them- yes we have seen that in the pre marriage state, in the hate marriage state and now may be, they will show some other majboori.

Afterall, men and women in the real world fall in love, unite against ALL odds, make all kinds of forever promises and then find some incompatibility issues. I am NOT saying Arhi is that ordinary couple, they are special. Let us see what the CVs have planned.

The best part I find about this news: if there is separation track coming up, it may be to accommodate BS movie plans, even if there is no movie , it means the show will go on..track changes always come with hiccoughs. Let us wait. I really hope you all are wrong on the 4 lions ditching the show part- I can only HOPE. Somehow, I have a lot of faith in Gul and Nissar- hope they will not disappoint. I agree I don't know the ways of telly world, but one can always hope.

    6. Su,
Leave accomodate karne key liye yehi separation track mila tha- a kid from ex-flame ? A long business trip for ASR after a fight over Khushi's jealousy would have done the trick...

The issue is not what does/does not happen in real life..the issue is what people want to spend their time watching.
IPK gathered its viewership on romanticism - not realism:)And people get attached emotionally to those romanticised connections...because that resonates with their sapnon ki duniya ...
You drag that sapno ki duniya down from the sky , dump dirt on it and bring it closer to asli duniya - and that emotional allure is gone, without the dreamy feel that colors the story for you, it is like watching it in grayscale...
Yeah it may be a realistic story - but people will not connect as much :)Its like Art cinema - sab sachai hota hai lekin theatre khali :)
For me the allure has progressively been going down with all the character inconsistencies in the past couple months ...and I certainly do not want to watch a marriage falling apart, especially this marriage, or ASR trying to decide who he should be unfair to - Khushi or his son.. or Khushi being mahan again and doing the disappearing act..
Separation tracks make sense when people are unsure of each other's feelings - now after the full khulasa and trust - if either can decide that the other is better off without them - it is a major disconnect...
Anyways - its up to the CVs to decide what they want to show - and up to us to decide what we want to watch :)

      Delete
    7. sri, the inconsistencies in the past couple of months have given me a chance to detox.. and lose the fervor i had for the story. as in the Gupta house set of episodes, the leads have been together for almost 15 minutes out of 20.. every day.. but it has not managed to bring the addiction back. when you show it as it is, without the rose tinted glasses (like you said) it is not so interesting anymore.

so now i just watch it for entertainment.. and i find that it does manage to entertain me every episode.. some laughs, some smirks, some sly remarks.. and finally, this is a track that i can watch with kids in the room.. it all seems so normal.. not overexaggerated like the other serials, not dragged to death and overexplained like some others, but a relatively fast-moving entertainer.. and that is why they have no episode bank.. they go at a much faster pace than other serials.. and that is what i like about this.

( a serial that shows five minutes of everyone's expressions , they dont have to shoot much.. whereas IPK needs at least 2 hours of shot footage to make a 20 minute episode, i guess.) the time other serials spend on the ladies sarees and makeup, IPK spends shooting.. and i like it that way.

    8. Sri,
A long business trip for ASR after a fight over Khushi's jealousy would have done the trick...:

There is not much scope there for a separation. Khushi will have to realise she should have been more mature or ASR'd try to convince her or ....I mean, there is not enough story for a month or two there...or else, it has to drag on as a long business trip like kidnap. There is scope for more drama with OW. Sri, I REALLY DON'T want this kid to be his. Let the kid get that WRONG idea into his head and try to convince KKG or something. And may be ASR is unaware of what is going on in K's head , let this track of the post honeymoon adjustment problems go on, K 's insecurities mount and then one fin eday, she feels it is best for him if she leaves...does not sound convincing on paper, let us see how it plays out.

'it may be a realistic story': Actually, I don't find it realistic at all- he returns to his ex-flame supposedly because the kid is his, after everything he promised her, ASR is a selfish person an all that matters to him is Khushi- he gave up his hatred for her. NOTHING can make him fall in love with another woman. So, I want to see how they execute this track.

IPK gathered its viewership on romanticism - not realism: PRECISELY. Why do we insist on realism from the characters? We can accept a KKG who gets stuck in the booty , but she cannot do a swami act? When has K acted mature? I keep asking this question. Yes, she will do everything in her power and exercise her intelligence and wits to protect her near and dear, but once she is settled down, she will go back to the ajeeb girl- darti hai par karti hai- the OTT comedy Khushi. She has to be mature in the kidnap and Shyam exposure because she has an important task at hand, once that is over, she relaxes in to her old self. She will always believe in astrology and traditions though she may be willing to give up some things for her hubby. But the old self will keep coming back, that is who she is..and frankly, ASR did not fall in love with a mature Khushi. He did not appreciete her for what she did for La or the pain she went through for his di, he simply fell in love with her as she was- the simple, clutzy Khushi who believed he did some black magic to increase her dhadkans, fed him the kaada and so on- THAT Khushi will keep coming back whether we like it or not- because the character has been written that way. Stop looking for a mature love story, the moment they start giving us that "'d take it that they are ending the serial. Which is what I am asking for in the first place...I feel 4 lioons may want to end it like it was discuse y'day (though I would not say kill it), SP wants it to go on...they have to take it forward someway.

    9. Separation tracks happen under all sorts of pretexts. THEY NEVER MAKE SENSE.

Behna, it was as silly as Jeevika deciding to atone for her sins (the sin of aborting her child to save her sis' life so she can donate her marrow- is ther a bigger sin than that?) by bringing on the separation on an unsuspecting husband- I think that lasted for two days- what was the purpose of that track? *head desk* and jeevika does not have the excuse K has, she has always been mature.
BALH- Priya separates hiding the news of her pregnancy, because she does not want to be a bhoj on her husband who loves her very much...there is no explanation for it becoz Priya has been the strongest character in the story. She has been shown to be mature from the day she learned to walk.(In fact it was that maturity that drew me to the story, TG! I was hooked off ages before they made her brainless)
PV: the wife decides to run away because she fears her husband cannot take the news of her pregnancy. She could've just gone to her ex- husband's house, but no , she decides to drag her son with her on a journey to some temple- after she has lost her purse too! Careless mother!

Zee- E K serial..Parichay?: The leads separate I don't know for what reason, and now they have the twins bringing them back- totally cliched.
NBT- some really silly reason on his supposed marriage and divorce and...blah...
Hitler didi: Seriously, I have no clue how it happened, I wish they'd just end that serial.. Who can watch such crap?

So, after seeing all this, if there is a separation with OW and jealousy/ sacrifice angle, I can accept it.

Let us face it, in real world, they cannot be separated. Arhi will talk things through like Sama wants and live happily ever after except for the occassional tiffs on 'your parents, my parents' or 'I am doing the right thing by doing this, I know better than you' or some thing like that...not much drama there, though I agree mature love stories do exist, but I don't know how that mature love story can be shown over a year. Max, it can run for a month.

The allure for me in IPK was the improbability of the romance betweeen two such people and fate conspiring to keep them apart and yet bringing them in close contact time and again...

in the last 1 half year they have done that admirably so if fate has exhausted the tricks up its sleeves...let them degenerate into a soap where everything is possible.....seasoned soap viewers can see the resonance in this soap as well of the myriad scenarios that help us all remember our AD is actually a lot better than SKD....probably thats a much needed reminder.

  10. hey girls, i have been offline all this while, though my mind was still rumbling and rambling and my fingers itching to type.. it is the worst kind of punishment when your mind is a million miles away and you have to act as if nothing's the matter.. because no one is gonna understand if i say that there was a scandal in my coffeeshop this morning..

first off, sandy, your predictions are morbid. bas bol diya. nothing of that sort will happen. you're doing the same thing you did with your nani.. bursting our happy bubbles with cliche'd situational climaxes :D

shwethu, your deductions sound reasonable, but i have the feeling that this offline story has more to it than just politics..i personally, will wait and watch. like rekha said, being a cat on a hot tin roof does not benefit me..

yes, i can rant and rave and soothe my trembling heart, but it will do nothing to change whatever situation is happening a thousand miles from me. i've decided to distance myself from the offscreen drama. yes, it is interesting, yes, it is upsetting.. but i am in it for the serial story, and not for the actors story.

i think i say this only because i have been deaddicted off the serial. it is not my baby anymore. it is the PHs baby, and if they decide to feed it burger and chips and pepsi when it is barely two years old, it is their problem, not mine. i will judge them, but i will not walk up to them and say "hey, you're not supposed to hook your baby to the junk food habit this early on" and i will not spend time worrying about how many germs their baby will pick up at the nasty play area.

this was initiated as a 500 episode show. i do not see any reason they did not have an initial plotline till the end. i am someone who watched the show for the last 150 episodes.. daily.. and i have to say, though it did not make sense at that moment, many illogical-seeming threads have been expertly woven back into the story to close the loops in ways we never predicted.. so it has not been a cliche's bollywood tripe.. so i am putting my faith in the storytelling.

i have faith in the actors.. they have a screen presence that the director seems expert at highlighting.. even if they are bored or unconvinced or they are actually laughing at the track offscreen, they play it beautifully onscreen.

so even if arnav falls in love with another woman in the story, i have a feeling that they will indeed tell the story convincingly.. and I, for one, am willing to watch that.

Like Dia mentions in her post, I thought ki agar there is an ex-flame and there is a kid chances are more that Khushi would want to walk out again (tho they shd have a good cause for her to leave tho) (And I would love it if there is a phone call bw La and Khushi where La either recalls new woman as vamp or generally says she knows the type and comes up with funky ideas to trouble this woman)

I am responding here becos it relates to the comment u made above..

J, the issue for a creative writer is never about situations to weave ...its their job to do that....what makes him/her excellent is the finesse visible in the art...which is what puts some writing above the run-of-the mill writing..
for example, the FB at the garden to bring back Arnav to Khushi in the mandap may be applauded as as a great idea but i would say..what was the finesse in that art if it had to reek of opportunism, becos according to me the objective was to get him there and the FB was the means..fair enuf...but i would applauded that same very FB if i had been given glimpses of Ratna, the woman in any of Arnav's FB leading up to it in the past..other than the running ma FB

So, at the end of it, if we viewers bought in to that FB...great for the story but whether it was an expertly woven thread...i would just stop short at patting their backs...even tho the writers were all grace under pressure.

I read ur post J, and u made a lot of valid points...esp the fact of this being the characters's story and not the actors story...Our venting at the PH, will not help the story in any way, i agree. Also get the point on being a detached viewer now....and that's why the last few epis can be enjoyed on that premise only....in fact it puts IPK and tarak mehta ka ulta chasma on the same platform...with a few marks more for the latter's drama...

    9. sandy, that is just the problem.. the woman is not introduced as a bad person.. (in fact, she seems like the caring mom types, and the boy gave directions to khushi so they return to the market, because his mom would be searching for him.. that part i liked.)

now arnav knows her, that much is evident, and she seems the sexy stylish sophisticate right up arnav's alley.. i am waiting for the track to unfold, instead of going the predictions route.

no offense to anyone, but R&R has terrible track record on predictions.. leads to a lot of disappointment, because we expect a logical track and the CT shows us a totally logical but unexpected track..

so far, i LIKE the boy and his mom.. same way i liked shyam in the initial days. i will wait to see where they take this.

    10. J,

possibly our heightened expectations are the cause for that...but u may abs right here that the new girl is exactly what u mentioned...

R&R was primarily responding to the scenario of Arnav falling in love with this woman and going away..which is not impossible but within a span of 1 month (nov) is what really looked strange to me..which i guess even u will agree...

    11. Rekha, ((HUGS)) for the sadness i feel in your comment..

that one FB of not hurting the roses.. was the writers changing track.. as they explained in kernal's post (i think) because it took a lot of effort at that time for arnav to simply accept khushi's love as bigger than his dad's betrayal.. the thought process, otherwise would have taken another five episodes of angst.. and SP simply was not ready to give another week of angst at that point.. so to change the story right then, they manufactured another FB.

(waisey, if they had shot that scene a long time back, there were so many instances when arnav could have used it.. whenever he felt bad about hurting khushi , that whole faraq padtha hai track.. what to say.. )

but the end result is, the viewer can connect to the fb.. for a long time, arnav singh raizada was a man tormented by his mom's suicide.. he did not face it, he turned his back to it.. he hated his dad for causing it, he hated his mom for being weak enough to do it.. and the resulting rejection from their own home, his will to make an empire to earn whatever money he needs to be more powerful than emotions..

arnav never remembers anything but his mom's suicide.. and his desperate childlike plea.. "maa, why did you leave me? "

now that khushi's love is in his life, and dadi's arrival shovels up the buried past, he finally faces the demons (he has been running away from all his life.. ) and takes her to his secret garden to meet his mom... and finally, the broken boy that he was.. can remember all the other memories of his mom, those of her being a loving mom.. he starts relating stuff to her..

so, when he remembers his mom in the hour of his greatest darkness, remembers her advise of never hurting the plant for its tendency to have thorns.. that FB seems natural, when seen in that light.

that is what i call expert weaving.

    12. and yes, once i heard someone in the CT mention that the story comes in english, the screenplay is in hindi.. so HOW the screenplay writer interprets the story makes a great effect on the final product.. and ALWAYS, the mess up is in the screenplay, not in the story itself.. except in one or two (very glaring) occasions.

usually the screen play is great, the dialogues are sometimes the highlight of the episode.. but these days the dialogues have been off.. usually i ring them as the actors ad-libbing.. but sometimes, i see that the dialogues make no sense, when added to the story so far.

shining recent example, the birthday fight.. bitiya would never say that dialogue...you know which one... if that one dialogue was altered, i would not feel so angry about the fight.

      *Hugs back*

I know u would describe this in the very words u did above...just i knew u wanted to stay away from R&R y'day when we were all like cats on a hot tin roof...i was to put a small comment in the night...asking u "tum hum sabse gussa hain kya"..

we have never met each other but i guess we just know instinctively how every other member will react to a situation...who says u have to meet to know people...J...this is the real romance for me...not IPK...HUGS

coming back to the scene...i am not disputing anything of what u have written...I know that its Khushi who made that possible in that scene but how silly of the writer to not include that special FB of Khushi introducing him to that pleasure of remembering his mother in a joyful way...well, if it was about expert weaving, i would well argue that subtlety demanded that Arnav just come back from the garden after his wolf cry and hazaar FBs on his windscreen and say all that he said to Khushi...why include the FB in the place and make it look opportune...

so..in the end...its just that little touch...but as i said..the writers well still grace under pressure..(if anything, i would lay the blame largely elsewhere for that scene not becoming epic, when it touted to be the crux of the fourth promo.)

    14. J,

Like Rekha said, the reaction was more to the one liner gist bomb about Arnav leaving more than the intro of the characters.

If you see right at the top, I told G that if it will not be saleable they will sell something else so I will wait to see how the story will unfold.

I know R&R predictions (at least mine) have a poor track record of coming true but the fact that we make them has always been an indication of the craziness we all have for the show - our sanak :) ANd I have enjoyed some of the stuff we have come up with. I am telling you if the blog is stalked thee are shows there using our ideas bas we do not know of it ;)

At the end of the day for me, as long as Arnav and Khushi's characters are shown to mature and grow, retain their traits and growth they have shown over the past year or so and I can connect with them I will watch the show. Bas!

For finally it is an intense star crossed love story - If I get my 20 min of SKD onscreen each day I shall be happy.

The disappointment is not due to the predictions of SKD rather due to the technicolour big screen dreams I was shown by the makers which seem to have shrunk to VCD quality telly picture...

anyways...J..i don't want to think about that...even real life romances are a lot better than that if it ever turns like Arnav having to look at another woman like this!!

    17. Jaya,

Hi, I totally agree with you.

Let me be frank. As a general viewer, which is what I am and I promised myself I will be without any ' I want this' and ' I want that' because it s not my story to tell, till date excluding yesterday i have enjoyed each and every episode whether over the top or under the top. I have not felt the need to change the channel and see what is happening elsewhere. I loved even the Thursday/Friday episodes where in the office she sings I love you. I even saw it again a couple of times and laughed every time and awwed every time they did their arnav arnav ji arnav arnav ji dialogue.

I see with the remote n my hand taking quite literally the dekhna hai toh Dekho.
For the very first time in so many months on Tuesday after nobody in the family wiished arnav for his birthday I was angry and I came and made a dissatsified post here.
And yesterday's episode was boring and i switched channels to see what was happening n child bride. :-))

So that for me is a danger sign.
I don't like kids saying what the and I kept thinking from Tuesday's episode onwards what kind of mom allows her son to behave like this and say what the at 8/9 years.

I recognise danger signs for myself nd anyway remote toh hai hi. I will see till I enjoy what they are showing me onscreen. If I don't then I will see :-)))

    18. usha, that was the high pint of the epi.. they are drawing a caricature of ASR... right down to his shoes.. i do not see arav as a little boy, i just see him as a duplicate ASR. and it is really funny that way. in fact, my first comment after seeing aarav was,

" hai devi maiyya.. when i said i wanted the old ASR back, i did not mean for you to go this far back!

      ye toh ekdum bacha nikla!"

and i will say with all honesty, i love OTT khushi. what i dont like is dumb khushi.. and i saw only the second half of yesterday's episode, but i loved it. i love how khushi treats the boy exactly s if she is dealing with ASR 2.0... i found it hilarious.

    19. Rekhs,

      shiddat bhari nighaahen - hayyee!!

oh i recall this - this was the mosquito coil epi and I had made the passing of time analogy and said they eventually maange to find peace with each other or some such. And I recall some of the girls here saying that Arnav's acrobatics on the recliner was just a bit much .. :)(there was a scene with the moon reflected onto the monage of 2 exhausted and angry lovers reposing peacefully on a green recliner together for the first time since they married on a dark night.

It was a week I watched late - Gargi was behind me to see the dance that preceded this and I had dedicated sholo si for that epi.

Is epi par tho Holi epis ka massive hangover tha!

And then the nice sprintime waale music ka instrumental RV on the scene by the stairs as hey leave for office and she hears him even tho he has lost his voice - aap main aur koi takniki kharaabi ROFL

And the will file was doing the scorpion dance - and bestest mamaji was still on the show!

I too love the ott khushi. In fact sometimes I have loved some f the things she does and at night when I browse the forum, everybody s going mad. So I thought better to stay out and enjoy and laugh with her. But when they dumb her, what to do then :-(

      Awww Rekha

Yeh kya dikhaya aapne or yeh kya keh diya aapne. Nahin arnav kabhi kisi aur ko aise nahin dekh Sakta.
Hum khushi ji jaise uske Baal Noch lenge. Isnt that the reason he has not cut his hair. So that there s enough for everybody to pull out. Okay. Done. :-D

      Kuch zyada ho Gaya kya?

Yday was the 1st annive of this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oPCjK21A2do&feature=plcp

And the scene that followed - where he places his hand on her head silently vowing to be her guardian.

So IPK Team - we are well into Navratri - what is the onscreen plan for Navratri?

    1. issh.. one of the most powerful scenes in indian telly drama.. those two minutes, with only a "khushi?" as dialogue.. the spinning 360 camera, NOT making you dizzy.. showing the different emotions that fly across their faces.. her hurt, her unconscious haq, her unexplainable hug. her need for a rock in this swirling whirlpool..

his confusion... his turmoil.. his irrepressible need to comfort.. his twisting realization..

wow. whoever did this scene.. the director deserves at least an emmy!

of course, after seeing that scene, everything else pales. the shoddy standard of the current season is all the more clear.

  21. Dia,
Your edit is my SKD too - not a physical but emotional separation though..exactly what I meant by

"Khushi - having to deal with that - ASR having to reassure Khushi she is more important ? It will atleast keep the ASR character intact .."

    Jaya,
If it entertains I am fine - but yesterday's episode I had to forward thru...and I do not find tragedy entertaining - but you know what - if these two separate of their own volition now - it will no longer be a tragedy it will be stupidity - and I can laugh at that :)Will not be rooting for them to find each other anymore:)

    Su,
So I actually liked the Swami track - I hated the cheap veggies track yesterday ... you know why?

Because the swami track was Khushi - nautanki, silly, funny, Quixotic- chasing and slaying her windmills..and she can stay that way as long as she is sensitive to not causing public embarrassment to others. Its like our kids - we indulge their not-perfect behavior as long as they know where to draw the line...

The veggies track was discordant - one day she's negotiating food into the theatre, a day later she is casually deciding that all of them should buy new clothes and zevar-

    sabke liye zevar,
se yaad aaya do devar..and I went
    lag gaye Mrs.ASR ke tevar

The next day she's eulogising the cheap vegetables...something wrong in that picture...

You miss the point about why romanticism works -

it is fantastic enough that it takes you out of your "asli duniya" ,
but it has to be real enough that it takes "you" out of your asli duniya...

Meaning in some corner of your mind you have to believe it could happen to "you"...
When that link between "you" and the fantasy is lost - that emotional connection is lost :) You are an outsider watching something in the distance...hence the need for the realistic aspect in non-fantasy romanticism..

That connection is a double edged sword - once you connect you also do not want it to be tragic , cos it tampers with your own optimism for relationships etc..detached viewers can watch anything - attached ones cannot:)

Shri Krishna ne kaha hai - stay detached - nahin hai , so CVs are ensuring we do get detached:)

    2. sri, very well said. and again, underlines the heartache of the IPK fans... most of the thinking ones have now disconnected from the story.. what the gupta house did , wht the kidnapping track did, what the dadi track did.. and now after remarriage, what this horrifying humor track is indeed doing is detoxing the too-involved fan. i can see it on IF , i can see it on Dia's edits.. i can see it in real life when friends who loved IPK have switched to more interesting serials.. because they neglect the little things, they neglect the little scenes, they neglect the magic powder that was the power of IPK..

and so yes, i am sympathetic to gargi's plight.. seeing this forced laughter track when knowing that something terrible is coming.. ((hugs )) gargi.

and that is the reason i dont point out every blooper anymore.. i am not emotionally invested in the serial now.

i remember once (around SPA awards) barun sobti said.. "i dunno why IPK is a phenomenon, i dont know why ASR is so popular, its just a daily serial". That was the absolute peak of IPK and the lead actor did not understand the popularity.. i'd say that is his loss.

the original CT of IPK are not around anymore.. so whatever we see is done by replacements.. and i think that is what is wrong with the serial right now. so if i consider it to be season 2 or 3, it is for my own sukoon.

    3. J,

bittu dont get senti rrey!! and yes I miss BBE *pout*

You know story on paper is fine - the person(s) writing the scenes and the person(s) interpreting them are not upto the mark and as a result you manage to get from A to B but the path is seemingly only full of potholes and not speedbreakers.

Small mercies - the SUV is back! Bluetooth made an appearance last week. And ASR has a new renovated office with no glass walls!!

    8. J,

That scene the best part was everything coming together - he written scene, the director's interpretation, his brief to the actors, their ability to do it butly without compromising the character's inherent natures, the music and its placement - ArHi were on neutral ground with siblings getting married but then Khushi in her enthu unthinkingly swatted a fly slapping him and rousing his anger.

Actually come to think of it the music is very restricted these days - there are so many BG variations available and most times I think ki cha iss scene main woh music aata toh aur chaand lag jaate!
