Tues 3/4 - 222 ... Staged confession

April 3rd Tues

Nani is master at emotional blackmail ... Anjali and Arnav both get it from her, but she's the guru! :))

So two more men did take part in the competition ... Bitwa wasn't the only one ;) All to the good, but I thought this started as a saas-bahu show?

The Heer Ranjha ... the way they interwove Arnav-Khushi with Heer Ranjha ... Khushi's initial nervousness, back to remembering Devi Maiyya ... and of course DM sends her usual doot ... Arnav Singh Raizada ... with a little push from Nani. And the way they kept talking to each other ... he - tell me what to do ... she, drawing strength just from his presence and getting her presence of mind back ... the way he asks, when do I come on? and she says, when it's the happiest moment for you, and the saddest moment for Ranjha ... I die ... and Arnav's shock ... and his dialogues, especially at the end ... 'whatever I said to you, has no meaning, whatever I did to you, has no meaning ... I will always ...' and he dies ...

For a person who hates nautanki, Arnav sure has a great sense of timing ...

Even with her lying with closed eyes, one knows when Khushi is listening, when she's perturbed, puzzled at the emotions she hears in his voice ... puzzled ... with eyes closed, all her senses concentrated only in her ears, on what she's hearing ...

And quintessential Khushi ... she has to question him right away ... what did you mean? Those weren't Ranjha's dialogues ...
And Arnav running away as usual ... he will never confess his feelings ... I was just acting ...
And at the end, Khushi was angry ... why will he not say it? She knows it's there, she can feel it, but why does he keep throwing her off? Why does he insist on running away from her? from them?

And now I can understand why she will confess her feelings first ... out of anger ... the build up was there today ... either to her angry confession, or to finally start investigating why he said she hurt him ... and is that why he won't confess his feelings.

Sanaya was brilliant as usual ... in these quiet emotional scenes, she is unbeatable. Loved that little show of anger at the end, when she threw the earring ... Khushi's frustration, her upset at her husband's continued silence, his obstinate refusal to accept aloud what's between them ... today this was no child, this was all woman.
And today I liked Barun too - he was excellent in his expressions, but his dialogue delivery still needs a little more punch ...

Precap - so tomorrow she refuses the  trophy, and when the host insists, she gives it solely to her husband? And then at night, a fight?

*edited*
So Nani emotionally blackmails Arnav into going on stage to rescue his Biwi, whom she has carefully left stranded there ... Nani knows her grandson well. All this during the Gabbar-Thakur act and the Salim-Anarkali act ... and carrying on into Khushi's stage time ... so I was biting my nails, willing Nani to succeed in her mission ... but could she do it a bit faster please ... poor Khushi is getting heckled there ...
Poor Khushi ... calls out to Majnu, then to Nani ... then does what she normally does when she's nervous - eats ... I thought that was brilliant! :) And then takes a deep breath, calls on Devi maiyya and tries again ... I'm Heer, and today is my sshhaadi ...
But there's no groom ... who is she getting married to?! More heckling, boos ... Raizada table is upset, wondering what happened to Nani, all except Anjali apparently ...

And then he's there ... always her saviour ... always there when she needs him, when she needs his support ...even in this most unlikely situation ... (well, he danced with her, a play is the next step ... soon he'll be doing what he swore he would never do - dance to her tune ... oh wait, he's doing that already! :) ) Hand n her waist as though it belongs there, as though he has the right ...
Arnavji?
Soft-voiced Arnav - Ranjha. I don't know what to do, Khushi, Nani pushed me on stage, you have to take the lead ... tell me what to do ... Khushi ...
A big first ... he asks her to lead, asks her to show him what to do ... he'll follow willingly ... a big, big crack in that ego he was so proud of a few hours ago ... the first surrender of that ego ... you lead, I'll follow ...
This was actually huge ... I absolutely loved this part.

And Khushi gets her courage, her confidence back ... just by his presence ... he's there by her side, now she'll manage ...
As soft-voiced as him, but confident ... 'Heer.'
And when she speaks next, those are Heer's words to Ranjha - or are they Khushi's words to Arnav? They could be either ... 'when you love someone, when you see that someone in front of you, then the eyes do the talking, there is no place for words. You know this, I know this ... questions are for those who don't understand what love is ...'
Doesn't that describe them so well? Their eyes always speak ... words only get in the way ... but ASR questions what Arnav knows ...

Soft voice again ... 'will you finish what I start? Today is their wedding ...'
A barely perceptible nod ... that's all she needs ... and Khushi is in the act ...
(Loved the expressions of the four Raizadas - well, three plus one TF ;) ... Anjali, Akash, Mama and Shyam ... and Nani, of course!)
And Khushi twirls gaily on stage as she describes how she fell in love .... and Arnav listens spellbound ... Heer again? Or shades of Khushi? ... 'the one who taught me what it was to be a woman, the one who bore so much pain for me, the one for whom I forgot all my pain ... with whom I spent so much time ... away from who I spent so much time ... today I'm getting married to that man ...
I'm Heer in name ... Ranjha in my heart ...'

The next part was poetic ... as Khushi looks at her hand as though it's a mirror ... I want to look beautiful for my Ranjha, but when I look at the mirror, all I see is you ...
And Arnav swallows ... remembering his beautifully decked bride and the travesty of their wedding night ... what it was, and what it could have been ... his Khushi could have been this bride, smiling happily, blushing as she waited for him ...
She eats the poisoned sweet, and exclaims at how sweet it is ... sweetened with their love, their happiness ... even she were to eat poison, it would taste sweet ...

Arnav whispers as Khushi steps back ... 'tell me when to come in' ... she shoots him a look and whispers back ... 'just a few more minutes ... the happiest day for you, the saddest day for Ranjha ...'
'Matlab?' He's foxed ...
'I will die ...' with a look that says, isn't that obvious?
And Arnav is shocked ...

And then she does exactly that ... dies ... on stage ... but it's enough to pierce his heart, even as he gets onto stage to do his part ...
When Khushi spoke, she moved between Heer and Khushi, but more of Heer ... the dialogues delivered in theatrical style ... dialogues themselves were theatrical ...

When Arnav spoke, it was almost all Arnav ... Ranjha gave him the push to open Arnav's heart, and the curtain he needed to hide it behind ...

And Arnav confessed his love ... secure that he was hiding behind Ranjha …
Heer eats the poisoned sweet, calls out to Ranjha, and dies … the audience collectively gulps, all caught up in the emotions of the moment … and Ranjha strides onto stage calling his Heer, sits down and cradles her in his lap … ‘wake up, open your eyes, I can’t live without you … without you, Ranjha is nothing …’

A single tear from Heer’s eye … or was it Khushi’s eye? Waiting for so long to hear that from Arnav just once …

I can’t leave you … all this while I was telling myself that koi farak nahin padta …’ and that was Arnav, not Ranjha … ‘but you know, don’t you, that I can’t live without you … whatever I did, whatever I said, forget it all, just come back … today nothing else matters, whether it be truth or lies, it doesn’t matter … only one thing matters … if you don’t exist, I don’t exist … you said it, didn’t you, Heer? Without Heer, Ranjha cannot be … so if Heer does not live, Ranjha’s life has no meaning at all …’

Her eyelids flicker, her face troubled … who is saying this? Arnav? or Ranjha? whatever he did, whatever he said ... what Arnav did? Arnav said? Those words don't fit Ranjha ...

If not here, then somewhere else, far away, another world exists … where you and I will never be parted …’
If not for their families, their sisters, the snake in their garden of Eden … they would have been together …
And he reaches for that world … for her hand with the poisoned sweet … and he eats the sweet from her hand itself … so that they reach that world together, hand in hand …

And the last was Arnav, hiding behind a dying Ranjha, but speaking Arnav’s heart … ‘jab jo bura kaha, uska koi matlab nahin hai, jab jo bura kiya, uska koi matlab nahin hai … iss pyaar mein sahi aur galat ka koi matlab nahin hai … bas iss cheez ka matlab hai ki main hamesha, hamesha tumse …’

Arnav has a great sense of nautanki all right … collapsing to die just at the right moment … leaving the last unsaid … the words Heer/Khushi is straining to hear … just once …

And as the play ends, and they lie there together in fake death, Khushi opens her eyes slightly, turns her head to look at him … where did he call up those emotions, those words from? Were they from Ranjha’s heart? Or from Arnav Singh Raizada’s? and again, he left them unsaid … leaving her hanging yet again …

The crowd erupts in stunned applause, still moved by the lifelike performance … Nani smiles in pride and satisfaction from the wings … mission accomplished … and slowly Arnav and Khushi open their eyes together, and get to their feet … hand in hand, he helps her up, hand in hand they bow …

And Khushi, impatient as ever, has to ask … ‘kuch keh rahe the aap?’

Loved the touch of them continuing to hold hands as he bends his head to ask ‘what?’

Khushi in determined pursuit again … ‘hamesha, hamesha … kya?’ say it … complete your sentence … even if it was for the drama …
Anjali and Nani were in cahoots all along … but of course …

Khushi asks yet again, and Arnav leaves her on stage and walks off … leaving her troubled …

Back in the dressing room … (how come it’s always deserted when these two need to talk? Can we transplant it to RM?) … Arnav, still lost in the moment of almost-confession … picks up her earring and stares at it … just as Khushi enters, determined to hear it from him this one time …

This time, it’s Khushi who reaches out for the earring in his hand … every time, he was the one to hold it out to her – first when he returned it after the sangeet, he held her hand and put the earring into it … earlier in the evening, he held it out and let her reach for it and take it from his fingers … and watched as she put it on …

And now, she is the one who reaches for it, gently takes it from his hand … another symbolism? He has been holding out his heart to her, pushing her to take it … then letting her take it … but this time, she reached for it herself, when he was even scared to show her that it was on offer …

Will she now reach out for his love, claim it as her right, as her own?

‘Look at me, Mr Arnav Singh Raizada. You don’t like it when I walk away when you’re talking, the same applies to you …’

And he turns to face her, ‘what? Say it …’  acknowledging her right, she is his equal … the same rules apply to both of them, he accepts it … accepts her right to question him … but still reserves the right not to answer truthfully.

And he actually looks scared there, scared to face her, scared that she will read the truth …

And she repeats his dialogues to him … ‘‘jab jo bura kaha, uska koi matlab nahin hai, jab jo bura kiya, uska koi matlab nahin hai … iss pyaar mein sahi aur galat ka koi matlab nahin hai … bas iss cheez ka matlab hai ki main hamesha, hamesha tumse … tumse … kya?’

His words, spoken from his heart to hers ... she desperately wants to believe that it was Arnav who said them, not Ranjha ... if it was Arnav, everything he ever did to her, everything he ever said to her ... all is forgotten ... if only he would say the last few words, the words she is dying to hear ...

She told him a few days ago, those who lie, can’t look others in the eyes … he proves it to be true as he turns away from her … ‘those were not my words, those were Ranjha’s.’

And she catches him straight away. ‘No. That was Arnav Singh Raizada.’

And he turns to face her again fiercely … pressing her back against the table … ‘Don’t believe everything you see. Nani told me so I did this … for my family …’
He didn’t mention … and for his wife …And she was wrong. He can lie while looking into her eyes ... he's had lots of practice. Because he's lying to himself as well as to her.

‘I was just acting. Understood?’
He won’t say it. She knows it. As always.

‘Fine. Understood. Now go away. Like you always do?’

And he does. Like she knew he would. He will never say the words she is longing to hear … just once.
And she throws the earring in anger … in frustration … she will bear everything, his anger, his hurt, his pain, everything … if he would just say once that he cares … but he never does.

  2. wow.. mindblowing acting from the leads.. sanaya was great from the moment she got on stage.. the awkwardness, the majnoo, nanii ("usko nani yaad aa gayi" ROTFL) and once ASR comes on.. hey, he cant tell her he's here by touching her elbow? why waist?;)

and then my dhak dhak started. once khushi gets into heer's character, nothing else registers. (am I on earth? dont know, dont care.. )they sucked me right into their world. his shock when he hears that she dies..(not that she dies, he knew it already.. but the way she phrases it..)

    fantastic performance.

CVs, if you give us amazing scenes like these, I will forgive everything else. Take a bow.

    barun's diction was better today.

I can understand her anger.. why cannot he say the words? but of course, as the audience, I can understand him trying to shield his vulnerablity. loved it.

    1. I loved Sanaya...her confusion, her nervousness, you almost wanted to kick ASR to get on the stage and help her out.

Jaya: Bitwa is progressing Hand say waist tak ka journey, let us simply enjoy*wink*

And besides, last time they were on Stage for Teri Meri, His hand was caressing her waist remember? It is okay if you don't what matters is he remembers*MIG Alert*

    2. dont ever say that I would forget something as important as that! there was a wink with my sentence too, but well, MIG.. a simple wink will not suffice here.. he's taking every freedom of a soulmate.. he's allowed!

      ..and we'll enjoy (tee hee)

    3. Arey, he progressed from hand ages ago ... hands are for babies :)) Waist, arms, shoulders ... *MIG alert* ... better stop there - this show airs at 8 pm :))

    5. din toh har din kuch hota hai.. i just refrain because these are all good girls here..

and dont tell me he was touching her waist in teri meri.. he went where he was not allowed to go (at that time).. with poora haq. which was a heartstop moment for me, and the dance that followed was great not only because of the choreography and the actors, but the spotlights, shadows, angles... that was one of the perfect scenes in this serial.

  3. Dia: Hope your dad is getting better.

Nani is truly Nani. When you think that Arnav was also supposed to be like her naughty and mischievous, living life to the fullest, the aukat obsession, everything fits.

My heart went out to Khushi when she said, your happiest day of your life would be the day I die.

So finally the near death situation gets incorporated.
His dialogues to La that he regrets later gets incorporated.
    He said farak padta hai.
    He said Hamesha tumsay..

Go khushi, call him dhokeybaaz whatever...he has called you worse, don't feel guilty, just get the damn truth out of him.

And Maybe it is just me, the heer-ranjha performance was SARUN.

The confrontation at the green room (which oddly remains empty everytime these two are around) was more ASR-Khushi.

And the audience is filled with the guy who always attends their family function and also is the office staff. And that is the high society audience, aiyooooooooo...

I am actually looking forward to Mami-Payal act, hoping Payal comes through and puts us out of the kitchen politics misery and not fall for the anarkali who probably tried to brainwash her.

Did that boy remind you of the courier guy who delivered the fake divorce papers?

    I loved that single tear.
I loved how the possibility of losing her stirred alive the emotions he had been desperately trying to bury.

I couldn't help but note the similarity between the near kiss & near confession scene.

    She is in red.
    They are alone.
He has almost confessed his love for her.
    She is questioning him.
Challenging him to run away as he does everytime.
This time he doesn't, lets her ask the questions.

    Lies again to protect himself.
She does not buy it, counters it.

She was heartbroken last time, she is angry now.

He said it didn't mean a thing then.
He said he was acting for his family (DUHHHHHHHH...Family includes wife too bitwa, koi baat nahin, I see your dimaag returning soon so will let this pass)

She throws away the earrings because of him.Just like she threw away her life by agreeing to get engaged to Shyam.

Don't believer everything you see/hear...Err..how about using that same rule on yourself too bitwa.

Seeing a ray of hope today, hope the cvs don't screw up again.

Once again the editor needs to get his/her act together and also the audience shots the repetition could have been avoided. Oh well...

    1. do you know I just got up from the PC and ran to the tv bcos teri meri was playing? (grumble) its just salman khan performing for IPL curtain raiser..

that boy WAS the courier guy.

I loved the tear.. and how he brushed it. i think I died a little when he ate from her palm..

I loved how the ASR who cannot express his emotions became so expressive when he donned Ranjha's pesha.

that dialogue.. will be written in my heart.
"Jab jo bura kaha, uska koi matlab nahin."
"Jab jo bura kiya, uska koi matlab nahin."
"Iss pyaar mein bas iska matlab hai ki main hamesha hamesha tumse..."

those earrings.. why did he pick it up? he has a fetish(smirk)

and khushi coolly gets it back from his hand.. what was that? once I heard somewhere on IF, "their hands know what their brains don't admit"... I like that.

    2. WHATTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT?

Salman is performing Teri Meri in IPL for the Chennai Crowd, whose brilliant idea was that????????????

Her near death scenario always brings out his emotional stuff.

I looooooooooved the dialogues, it was SARUN for me there...If only they were their own self during the above dialogues, these would have been immortal, that is just my opinion....Sorry looks like I am celebrating my Critics Week.

    3. and beleive it or not, the heckler in the audience , behind the raizadas.. was "shuklaji"

    4. I can't see anyone other than Arnav- Khushi in "teri meri"; when i listen to that song, i can only remember that picturisation.....Kareena and Salman toh kabhi yaad hi nahin aate...BS/SI made that song their own....patented almost

What shuklaji changes from Khushi bhabhi to heckling Khushi....I wonder what do other serials that use fillers in epis do? Or are watching things with a microscope....My own funda is use whoever but when hey use fillers who need to mouth dialogues, be more discreet...anyways....some cause of mirth i guess...

    5. @ Rekha,Jaya I can understand how that feels, For me even today almost after 3years when ever I listen to "Khudha Jane " It's always Samrat/Mohit and Gunjan /Sanaya from MJHT, whom I visualize, its not even the other pair which were there for the other paragraphs. Think Dia and Mads will agree with me on that.

  4. wasnt Sanaya awesome....... she always shows her emotions in her eyes, but today with her eyes closed and face dead still, yet you know what she is protraying......fabulous.... like Barun too, esp his shock when she says his best moment is, when she dies.... maybe because i was too involved in the whole play... had a lump in my throat..... just wanted to shake them up and point to the obvious....

she has mentioned twice bt her death in the last couple of weeks, i really feel its gonna happen in future....just to make ASR realize that she is equally important, alongwith anji....

liked the precap too.... thought dhokebaaz seemed a bit harsh, but thats gonna pave way for their fight... cause how can she call him dhokebaaz when she herself is one.... he is gonna ask her that without giving too much info...gr8...

    1. Geetu: She mentioned about her dying earlier too when? Dhokebaaz, Draamaybaaz,Dhakkanbaaz....She can go on, I dont mind.

Dia: Maybe it is in his blood you know, the stage performance and stuff...Arnav must have inherited it from Nani.

@all: Shyam got his wardrobe updated, WT WT WT...New shirts, a suit and our leads are stuck with stuff from Jantar Mantar Market *head desk*

Nani, Anji both are good dramebaaz... ASR ko kuch toh sikhna hi tha, waise bhi his hatred is all a drama, dill me toh kuch aur hi hai ...

    3. Thats Sanaya for u...eyes open, eyes closed, dialogues or no dialogues....she stands out.....i liked the way she said "aaj meri shhhhadi hain" when she does not know if nani will come on stage to help her and later the carefree " aaj meri shaadi hain" Yes, the scene was written well with that detail but getting the nuances right in that micosecond is the key, she does it right all the time

  5. Dia, summed up a lovely epi in a lovely manner...
    On the epi, my two-pence
The interweaving, the hesitancy, the gradual confidence, the increase in feeling when speaking as Arnav...i thot was beautiful built in to the scene.
Its always a challenge when there is a play within a play....some sense of seriousness is always lost....i am so glad that this wasn't the case here...when K appears diffident at the start, when A confesses to K, "i don't know a thing"...even the scene relating to when should he come in and K's tongue-in-cheek response that throws A asunder....beautiful....
It was always going to be difficult to accomplish an emotional moment in that scenario so my deep admiration for a job well done!! It would have been so easy for all this to have go caricariturish..(sorry for using a wrong word)
Sanaya, brilliant as always. Barun did an excellent job today...his part was, in a way more difficult...having to show inhibitions and emotions at the same time..i think he got the perfect balance.
He needs to raise his voice just a wee bit so he can be heard well...apart from enunciating..
I am not sure i understood the last dialogue of K properly...what did she mean by running away...who ran away....does she mean Arnav for not waiting till the end of function?

    1. Rekha: Agree, the caricature hopefully will be reserved for Mami-Payal. Mami would rock that I am sure.

On to your other comment, yes the Barunification of ASR has to stop...And can Barun get a haircut and a shave please?

Also can we know the secret of his fast hair growth, show say kuch toh faayda ho hamain, lol.

By the way, any new spoilers or news on ME?

    2. barun likes looong hair, so he tries to take every excuse before someone forces him to get one. also, barun after his haircut looks like a little boy..shoo shweet and adoorable..

maybe some intense hate scenes are coming and the CVs want barun's ASR-heartbreak-style long hair for that.

someone buy him a beard trimmer!

      Delete
    3. @rekha, ASR does not speak in barun's voice.. he is husky bedroom voice.. which works because he has practically nothing to speak.. so on occasions when he has to speak up, we get confused.

      Delete
    4. Jaya,

Though my comment was about Barun to raise his voice a wee bit, its not about his character or for that matter his voice....I agree that ASR speaking loudly will not do...as we have never heard him speak loudly..it wouldn't be in keeping with the character; Its just that it gets a bit inaudible at times...or maybe i need to get my ears checked...old age catching up...I am so sorry i am missing hearing a husky bedroom voice (*wink*) kuch toh karna padega!!

      Delete
    5. yes, that is what i was trying to explain.. imagine barun speaking long dialogues in husky voice.. it is gonna sound like a mumble..

it was especially noticeable today.. he had a long dialogue as Ranjha.. he used barun's normal voice mostly.. (only little bits were husky.. and hence unclear) but it ended up looking like it was barun on stage, not ASR. only because of the voice.

not you and your old age.. everyone has trouble picking up ASR's long dialogues, because almost everyone else on the show speak so clearly.

before, the longest he had to say was "Yes aman, speak to me" .. but these days he has become romeo, he has longer dialogues.. I wish they would ask him to speak slower, so his lower tones are heard more clearly. I want him to keep using the husky(sexy) voice .. that is part of ASR's persona.

    6. Jaya, Bingo ... you hit the nail on the head ... normally Barun as Arnav has such few dialogues that you don't notice his voice that much ...mostly he says the same things also - shut up, get out, Aman we need the deal ... but the last few days he's had more dialogues, I think, and his enunciation is more noticeable. And you said it - he tends to speak very normally, like normal Barun ... whereas he needs to be a little slower and clearer, and yet sound natural. And my perpetual crib with him - Enunciate!!!

The rest of the cast do it just fine ... even Anjali has very repetitive dialogues, but she makes them sound natural and her words are very clear ... all the rest of the cast are.

Mami is another excellent speaker - she speaks very fast, she has such accented dialogues and each word is clear as a bell ... so is Sanaya - her dialogue delivery is amazing, crystal clear, and laden with the correct emotions.

I saw the epi at normal time when it airs here; A's dialogues on stage were perfectly audible....when he spoke to K in the Green room,it was in that soft hissed tone that ASR uses...when he talks to Khushi.....i got the point u mentioned in the post....

Sama.....IPK CVs wouldn't have bargained for this blogs/forums that dissect the shows' every move, dialogue, nuance, delivery, punch, props, set, clothes, filler cast, etc.....hain na?

  8. Mmmh, I want her to continue her last sentence by maybe realising arnav's there and saying something like 'actually, if it's for acting, give it to my hubby, he's the best actor I've ever seen' it would fit in with the whole he can't dance act laugh thing she did earlier using NK and it is as close to spiteful as khushi can get, then he could walk off and fume building up nicely to a fight kind of thing where she says the biggest mistake of my life was loving you, and then menthos moment for odb, more she doesn't love kj than she loves me and then maybe getting the truth off payal? He's good at blackmail he'd find a way then enlist khushi's help with bringing kj down and maybe after tell her why he married her? To develop on the 'mistake' part of her confession he would have to convince her it wasn't a mistake and that he truly loves her back? I was thinking, although this wasn't the way I wanted it, it might work because I guess although Arnav never actually confessed to her we as viewers have seen him come pretty close right? We knew what he was thinking and he was going to tell her too, that's why he has to be the one to say it now, because he's broken her heart loads of times yeah when he was running away, but his heart was broken by her apparently loving someone else and Arnav isn't the emotional Jack in the box khushi seems to be, his walls were buitl sky high and just when they crumbled he went into a more impenetrable fortress, he needs her confession to break him out and his rtr will be him trying to convince her that he does love her and it wasn't a mistake and more gruelling, trying to forgive himself, because when he finds out he should give himself hell on her behalf

  11. OMNIBUS ALERT!!

    Tue – Mar 27th - Part 1

    Slowly Changing Priorities!
Mon was tumultuous - talk of death, sharing precious possessions, dreams crushed, bestowal of pain, hurt and tears, actions & emotions belying words spoken in anger, trying to spread rift, family’s cognizance of some discord b/w ArHi, acceptance of a badi bahu, squashing of HM plans and a mischievous Nani who is hell bent that the couple will spend private time. After all she is ASR’s Nani ;)

Khushi who has always fought against ASR’s decisions and demanded a reason from him, (sangeet, engagement breakup, desi tadka to a cocktail party, even a forced wedding) gives in to his decision to not go on HM quietly today. Each time she fought his decision in the past, it was for another’s happiness (never hers). Today she does not ask him because somewhere she knows it would not make him happy and he has clearly told her she does not have the right to watch out for his happiness either. She again does not bring in what she wants into this equation though this time she wants the same thing as him. I felt she again placed Arnav’s feelings above Payal today (last being the mixed medicine incident) (Khushi never wonders about Aakash and Payal going for a HM and how Arnav has nixed that plan – does she believe that Aakash will watch out for Payal now and she need not jump? Or has the fact that Arnav has entrenched her as a part of the family make her believe in some corner that the family will now always look out for Payal’s best interests and she need not jump at every small incident? She did not react visibly even later in the week when mami called payal for preparing for the competition. Again too busy with thoughts of Arnav and his lost voice). Khushi;s priorities at RM are slowly changing from Payal to Arnav.

    The Tempest!
Tue was hilarious to begin with. I bow to Mami – she definitely deserves the majedaar sadasya award! And I guess rants of Arnav not having a male role model in his life have been heard. Mamaji is getting proactive in mentoring bitwa on engaging with the missus ;) And yeah RS is a jerk to overlook such a good looking wife.
Arnav almost had a shocked look like he did seeing Khushi dressed up as MB the other day :))

Nani has a master plan like she did with Oo La La! and bringing Khushi back home on some excuse or another after her contract completed. In the Asian context, usually if there is any discord between couples, the families always try to create situations to push them together to resolve tensions and issues. It is with concern and not a poking the nose attitude they do this. Hence marriages are always about 2 families in addition to 2 individuals here. Anjali is back in her role as Ms Fix it all very ably guided by Nani. A surrealistic situation is created at home for the couples to pretend they are someplace else. One couple who is extremely happy and another who are just going through the motions.

Arnav is very unwilling and needs the inevitable Di ke liye to agree. RS takes a pot shot at coming closer to Khushi again willingly encouraged by Anjali. Khushi squirms but Arnav only has eyes for RS. He is watching and RS suddenly snaps out of his day dream and realizes he would be under scrutiny and is reminded of his “Believe Me Saale Saheb” act earlier. So he immediately course corrects, steps back, and turns the tide in Anjali’s direction. Until Khushi tells Arnav or Nani, she is always going to be under open threat from RS’s lustful ways. Arnav glances at Khushi but his senses are all trained on RS. He believes Khushi to be under control. Loved how they are shown standing side by side here with Arnav’s presence alone protecting Khushi.

    1. they are shown side by side.. but his presence does nothing to protect her.. his glares mean she was a willing partner in the treachery .. yet, bitiya has no other way than to accept snake's offering, or cause a scene. she accepts meekly.. she has no support in her helplessness. she is caught between a rock and a hard place.. which is one of the reasons she was so subdued in the subsequent scene.

    2. Jaya,

he is not doing anything to protect her and she is caught between a rock and a hard place. I agree.

But somewhere I have always felt that Arnav's presence in Khushi's life has been a shield for her. Even here, his presence whenever RS and Khushi are in the same place in RM does serve to hold RS back from getting closer to her in a bad way. his presence is more like a deterrent if I may

And these encounters are good because when Arnav realizes how diabolical RS is, Arnav will actually realize how vulnerable Khushi is to him as long as no one apart from them knows the truth.

  12. Tue-Mar 27th-Part 2

In the bedroom, Arnav tells Khushis he is off to change first, turns and stops with a Huh! Khushi did not retort, she agreed. So turns back and says, Didn’t you hear? Khushi is not his soul mate for nothing. She reminds him that she is to follow whatever he says, remember. And the bg music is the new hip hop RV – an indication of harmless nok jhok usually initiated by Arnav. Last time they used this was by the poolside on haldi evening when Arnav was asking Khushi why she lied about not liking the bangles and she told him to see the obvious that she was wearing them. Today too she reminds him that he said he would dictate and she should follow. Bitwa has never wanted her to be submissive and obedient. Her ability to show him the mirror has been her biggest attraction to him. He said he liked silence, she gave him silence and he yearned for her voice. He told her to get away from his life and she did and he yearned to have her back.

Khushi for the second time taunts Arnav about not knowing about granting happiness to another person (last time was at the cocktail party. Then ASR lashed out at her for forgetting her broken engagement, today he had lashed out at her with deserving pain and hurt and not having her dreams come true. Then, he was jealous of her relationship with NK, today he is jealous of RS (DDR). Nani had told Anji at the poolside that Arnav did not stomp off in anger at the thought of NK-Khushi wedding but it was ‘jalan’. Arnav loves Khushi to a point wherein he cannot bear to share her with anyone else. Even when she was teasing on the phoning thinking it was Aakash, Arnav was annoyed that she did not recognize him. He knows it is her – just by the sound of her anklets, he sees traces of her in situations like the silent treatment by the family. He is so aware of her influence that any dilution in her attention to him is unbearable.

The day Khushi realizes what Arnav has done for others happiness; she will feel bad for her accusations (because that is how she is). He decided to marry a girl who supposedly does not love him for Anji’s happiness. Khushi has forgotten about the temple scene wherein to wipe away an unknown child’s tears and bring a smile on her face, Arnav buys out all the pigeons there are. Hari Prakash the servant knows that Arnav put in those 2 silver coins into that packet at Diwali for Khushi’s happiness. Khushi will realize that Arnav actually broke the engagement for La’s happiness because he knew did not have any feelings for her. Arnav agreed to convince Mami for Payash wedding to make Aakash happy. He agreed to the bollywood drama and even apologized to Payal for her happiness. When Khushi cried at being unable to bear the burden of her father’s illness Arnav stepped in with money (the only way he could have helped then in the only way he knew) for Khushi and her family’s happiness. He goes along with the initial welcome to the hotel session for Nani’s happiness. Even when he ribbed Khushi about cheap trinkets from her fiancée it was because he wanted to ensure her happiness by hoping her fiancé would realize how precious she is and how she deserves the most exquisite gifts. At the wedding, he orders pattal, becomes a waiter, reigns in his temper all for Khushi.
Arnav exerts himself for his Di invariably when she says tumhe hamaari kasam or when she pouts and unsaying lays a condition or someone blackmails him with her name. He equally exerts himself for Khushi but without any conditions or emotional blackmail from her end or others, he does things for her because he wants to / chooses to. Not duty bound like he is in his Di’s case. Arnav never reminds / falunts his actions to anyone, least of all himself. He does what needs to be done at the point and moves on. This brusque attitude makes him appear cold and aloof.

    1. arnav's expression when she said that he did not know how to make others happy.. so many flashbacks that could work there.. but the best..khushi jumping for joy at the silver coins.. that was ONLY to see her happy..

he is being reminded that maybe she does not know him at all..everything he does for others' happiness, nobody gets to know about.

p.s he did not apologize to payal to make her happy.. it was to clear his conscience.. ASR has always been straightforward.. when there was a problem, he fixed it.. if payash was not happening (because of his actions that long ago fashion show night), he had to set things right.. which is why he apologized.. more for akash than payal.

he did not help with hospital costs to make her happy.. he did it because he felt guilty for his actions following the nainital trip and his was unable to offer comfort to her any other way.

yes, he did help at gupta house for the wedding .. I do not think it was to make khushi happy either.. he was in love, he came and treated her as his girlfriend...but she did not understand it. you can say he bought a truckload of plates for her happiness...but it was more to get her out of trouble than to get her happy. ( if he had not come that day, the cow would not have eaten the pattals :D)

yes, arnav does a lot of things to make others happy.. sacrificed a lot to keep his dear ones happy.. and it hurts when she accuses him of callousness.. but I think she was blurting out her pain.. she kept so many things in her heart to keep anjali, payal, even sham happy.. just before, she had to accept the snake's innuendos in front of the whole "family" that supposedly owns her.. and her "husband" treats her like his personal slave.. expects her to follow his every order.. she is going through the whole charade for other's happiness..

      Delete
    2. Jaya,

yes Khushi was only blurting out her pain in reminding him of his callousness. Arnav is not one who will speak of what he has done for others happiness. Hence his actions when he does something for them have usually had a witness so other may speak of it.

Reason I said Khushi will feel bad is because of the good soul and the simple hearted person she is. See when Arnav apologized to payal, Khushi first admonished him saying he would hurt Payal and so on but when she realized his intent was to apologize, she did feel bad and immediately went to say Sorry and Thank you! Payal's happiness here yes maybe a stretch but Payal did count her blessings and feel happy about marrying Aakash when Arnav apologized for his earlier action.

I think I was thinking more on the lines of finding a moment for arnav with everyone in the family and little extra for Khushi :D :D

Also, I have felt that Arnav has somewhere in his mind considered Khushi's tendency to pretend happiness for the sake of others as duplicity. Even way back when she came to accuse him of not caring for La when she was leaving he had told her "Yes I do not have a heart but at least I do not pretend".

Irony - he is now pretending happiness for teh sake of his Di's happiness. So does this mean he is a dhokebaaz? (like he thinks of Khushi?)

  13. Tue - Mar 27th - Part 3

Yes, he can have a better way to do things and be gentler but then gentleness has always rewarded him with deceit – case in point chacha, mother’s death, khushi’s supposed betrayal. He believes what he told Khushi on NYE – yeh duniya hamesha se hi patthar dil thi aur aaj bhi utni hi patthar dil hai. He never wished happiness for himself because his life snatched away his biggest happiness – his mother and her love; the only happiness he may have ever wanted. He had recently begun to wish for happiness for himself only to be dealt a massive blow by life again.

    Coming back to Dilli ma Bali HM;
Dressed in a hot brown shirt, ASR waits for his partner (Khushi indeed is his partner for she completes him). In the past when he wore this shirt, he had believed Khushi gone away from his life forever and was stunned to find her in his closet (post storeroom incident on Anji’s anniversary party). That was the day he had confronted his vision in red by the poolside, picked up her payal and claimed it as his. Today he again believes her to have been lost to him. She comes down to stand by his side. And as she nears him, she is uneasy – are her heartbeats racing again? Does that single rhythm make its presence felt in Arnav too? Arnav’s gaze is so intense –it is as if he wishes he could glance right into her mind and see what thoughts are swirling there. Maybe he was trying to find the Khushi from the poolside on Holi whose heartbeats raced when she was near him!

And the dance floor beckons. He is in a foul mood. He is never one for sappy romances and has enough on his mind with the previous day’s encounter, desperate to get away from everyone’s eyes and forced to put up a smiling mask for his family and Di. The basic difference between Arnav and Khushi. He hides behind a mask of anger/aloofness and solitude. She hides behind a mask of smiles and happiness. Hers is the true mask for the very function of a mask is to completely hide the true face behind it (like the joker mask in a circus).
When he reaches out his hand, she is bewildered. Arnav is on a short fuse and in no mood for her tantrums. She calmly tells him how she has got used to him telling her what needs to be done (thereby telling him that she has allowed him power over her life and her actions; just as he has given her the power over his).

Arnav pulls her towards him (mehendi day pool scene kiss comes to mind). That day was dream like for both of them when he kissed her. He had gradually pulled her towards him then whereas today he literally jerks her to him at one go as if to show she belongs to him. And before she reads anything into this pull, he has clearly told her not to start dreaming about anything. And Khushi whose dreams centre around Arnav sadly but calmly asks him how she could weave any dream that was linked to him. Arnav is upset hearing this (because he wants her to weave all her dreams around him and believes she has chosen another) and cuttingly bites out (more to remind himself and grant him the strength) that all this iis for..and she completes it for Di, yes I too am putting up with all this only for her. There was a world of meaning in Khushi’s words because she is indeed the custodian of Anji’s happiness. Khushi has now acknowledged that all his actions are because of Di. What Arnav misses at this point is why would Khushi do anything for his Di’s sake if Di was her main obstacle – perhaps he is too fixated on her worry for Payal’s married life and is unable to take that thought any further.

he offers his hand in such an unnatural way that she does not know he is asking her to dance. (or is it that khushi does not know western dance formalities?) the way their hands talk to each other has always been shown in detail as part of the story.. many times. you see she puts her hand in, like giving a promise.. but then moves to the dance handhold. and he pulls her to him.. and the dance... she is terribly uncomfortable with him. forget that she loves to dance. he tells her, i'm going to dance with you.. dont dream that this is anything more .. and her reply.. "you dont feature in my dreams anymore" was it because she got hurt when she dreamed of him before? or was it because shyam is the one featured in her dreams?

    2. Jaya,

The body language at the start of the dance was influenced by the previous day's office encounter, the whole Arnav telling Khushi you desrve pain, I wil; dictate each and every action, Her painful retort so let me bear it all and wishe me worse go on"

Both are upset and forced into this charade of happiness. The first time he held his hand out was when ammaji asked him to take her hand. And the second was when they were asked to dance. Rightfully if he was angry enough, he should have like before just grabbed her hand but somewhere he was till stuck up on his disgust (maybe because of the RS handing over red flowers) and held his hand out very aggressively almost like telling himself, Ok Arnav you need to do this so we can get done with this entire drama. She is hesitant because she wonders what she shoudl do, can she hold his hand - or will he react, is she supposed to take it or put her hand in - what is she expected to do - conflicted by all the stuff she has heard from him in the past 24 hours. She tentatively touches his palm and when he does not flicnh or retreat gradually eases her hand in assured of having got it right.

Besides after teh previous day's encounter, I think both just wanted to have as little physical contact with each other as possible.

The dance was teh last thing on Khushi's mind as it was a dance she was to do out of duty. Khushi has always enjoyed her dancing when she has danced for herself, because she wanted to. She is not familiar with dancing as a duty.

  14. Tue - Mar 27th - Part 4

And the music starts, Lo and behold the title track – very encouraging because it speaks of positive changes, awakened hearts and love.

“Jo pehle hua naa..ab jone laga hai,
DIl humko jagaakar kyun sone laga hai
Yeh ishq hai ya kuch aur hai, ya bas khaali khaali shor hai
Isko ko main kya kahoon, tu hi bataa, tu hi bataa
Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon?”

So far it has only been the qawwals who have asked Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon when the camera pans on ArHi. But today it was almost like Arnav was thinking this in his mind. He was wondering about what all had happened to him and how his awakened heart seemed to have gone back to sleep after making him aware. He cannot seem to stop caring for Khushi and is conflicted between the love his heart wants to give and the hatred his mind demands for her.

2nd mention of love with ArHi (first was by Nani on Holi; today it seems to be ArHi asking themselves). A gentle start, Khushi is all flustered and literally clinging to Arnav barely glancing his way – am sure her hearts were racing a miles a minute. They walk around each other as if affirming the fact that their lives revolve around each other. Arnav is dancing away calmly when he happens to glance up and see RS ogling Khushi (Nani got in RS-TQ into the mix). Arnav glances back down, sees Khushi’s hesitancy looks away because he has to do this to her, looks up and sees no remorse or nazrein churaana in RS’s eyes.

Arnav recalls Khushi’s betrayal only when reminded by the presence of the other betrayer and victim in sensitive moments. In Anjali’s presence, he recalled terrace hug and Khushi asking RS to break the rishta. Today he only recalls RS’s confession of love on the terrace (DDR). The dam of emotions reined in by Arnav snaps open and the backed up emotions gush forth. Reminded me of a peaceful Shiva’s meditation being interrupted only for his blazing 3rd eye to open and in his anger, begin the cosmic dance that shook the 3 worlds (ArHi, Payash, RS-TQ). Khushi his soul mate is quick to catch the change of moods in him and looks up with concern.

The music becomes intense (the music from Arnav’s restlessness at Khushi’s engagement, from hus restlessness when he sees Khushi being shunned by her family and his on the night he ended up yelling I Hate you to her). Basically a music that conveys a whirlpool inside Arnav. His only intent is to draw Khsuhi into that vortex and show an ogling RS that Khushi is only his. The way they start this bit almost looks like they are arm wrestling and then he twirls her as if trying to drive her senseless and disoriented. A short pause here because Arnav’s emotions change at this point. It will soon be all about him and Khushi oblivious to the world. As if on cue, the lights dim and blotting out the world, Arnav starts to dance with Khushi. He twirls, kneels, catches her, lifts her, taps the same steps, syncs with her for certain steps, walks with her but all in a frenzy (like a volcano erupting). When the dance is fast paced and there is so much of twirling, an innate sense of trust between the dancers is a must. You must believe that your partner will not trip you, will catch you and not let you fall, will not miss the beat basically you will dance to the same rhythms – both your rhythms will synchronize.

See the behke behke nain video from aisha.

There is point towards the end when Aisha unable to see Abhay with another girl, asks to dance with him, starts to dance and unknowingly just takes over. Abhay though he is still dancing lets her do what she wants.

And in the parlance of dance, love in the form of surendering the self is the highest compliment you can pay!

    4. Yep, she surrendered herself completely to him ... I find the comparison with Shiva-Parvati the most apt - when Shivaji gets lost in his tandav, Parvati has to step in to soften him before he can destroy the world ... similarly, Khushi recognised the fury in Arnav, even if she didn't understand the cause, and by her complete surrender, she disarmed that rage ...

    5. Reading Aaru's post about hospital track made me think of:

The first hug was because Khushi had suffered loss or parents once before and could not suffer it again. She ran and hugged him for support and comfort.

Arnav has suffered loss of love (mother) once before and cannot bear to lose love again. And that day at the end of the dance, he hugged her for support and comfort.

  15. Tue - mar 27th - Part 5

“Sholon si Sholon si, teri aankhon ki yeh roshni
Mere liye hai mere liye hai
    Tera muskuraana, nazar yun jhukaana
Mere liye hai bas mere liye hai”

This dance was never meant to be like Teri Meri – very different emotions driving the two. Teri Meri was all about infatuation and beginning of attraction and associated feelings and butterflies. Today was all about passionate love that speaks of possession and desire.
There he came up to her and took her hand. Today he held his hand out asking for hers. The man who said he would call the shots is doing the exact opposite. In a dance, though the motions/steps may be the same, if the emotions behind are different the meaning conveyed is different. When you twirl it could be in happiness, in mind numbing sorrow, calling out in desperation, tossed around by confusing or chaotic emotions.
In Teri Meri where Khushi took the lead, today Arnav was leading. Then Arnav let Khushi go in between whereas today he was mostly always holding her. Then if Arnav was mindful of Khushi’s feelings, today he was all about conveying his feelings. The steps were the same mostly but then Khushi was more aware of her surroundings, today all she could hear was the roar of her heart and all she saw was Arnav.

And once his anger was spent, like the lull after the storm, with his partner in his arms, Arnav finds a moment of solace. Today he is the first to recover and realize they have an audience whereas Khushi was the one who lost track of people during the Teri Meri dance. Khushi looks at Arnav now completely at a loss of what to make of this man who says something but seems to be doing something entirely different.

Also for Khushi to be a true soul mate, she will need to fall in love with ASR – the LG as well as Arnav. ASR will also need to accept his feelings for her. Only Arnav alone would not be enough.

ArHi get back to their roon which is in semi-darkness. Reminded me of the NYE scenes. Khushi speaks of beauty in her surroundings today. On NYE, she had for the first time asked Arnav why he rejects the beauty around him, why he is the way he is. Have they come a far way from then or not really? Then he spoke of the hurt the world bestows on one and all. Today he bumps his leg onto the side table. And Khushi is happy he has been given punishment for closing the door on her and causing her a physical hurt. Thedil ki chot she is letting go for now because she is still wondering what his dil ki chot is.

And Arnav is making his mark on Khushi. How easily she now parrots about her actions being for Di. And how well she knows him to sense his glare even in darkness. A beautiful contrast between Payash and ArHi. Their room is flooded with the light of their love whereas ArHi’s room is plunged in the darkness of their lost love and hurt. Yet 2 small flames burn perhaps to indicate fledgling hopes for them. Arnav in a fit of anger puffs them out but Khushi suggests looking for matches to re-kindle the flames. Arnav has puffed out the flames of his love for Khushi but Khushi is slowly re-kindling those flames in his heart again.
Arnav finds matches and lights a small flame. Khushi in her quest for a candle trips but lands right into the centre of the heart on the bed – almost like she has landed onto his heart. A heart as soft as the rose petals yet shaken and broken by her. And in the light of this single flame, Arnav looks at Khushi as of seeing her again for the first time (recall the fuse box scene by the pool when Khushi light a match for a candle and almost burns her hand from the dripping wax only for Arnav to save her while ignoring La who also happened to fall down).

"today all she could hear was the roar of her heart and all she saw was Arnav. And once his anger was spent, like the lull after the storm, with his partner in his arms, Arnav finds a moment of solace. " there was a rabba ve at the end.. showing that, even after jealousy and possessiveness and anger, what they find in each other's arms is always love.

the angry ASR jut melted in his lady's arms.. their heartbeats become one.. and she is touched once again. she knows something just happened there. a forgiveness? an acceptance? an apology? that hug meant something humongously personal.. he regains his senses.. he needs more privacy for this sort of confession... see him go into his shell from that moment on?

now they are really partners in life. he accepts her, she accepts him. which is why in the room, they are so comfortable with each other. she is far more comfortable around him than she was in the morning. and he is more accepting of her place in his heart... whether she was a cheat, or not.

she comments he is amply punished for that possesive dance (in front of all family, no less.. what humiliation!) when he hits his leg. then the tom and jerry thing again.. and again..

and that moment on the bed.. she is beginning to understand that he is affected. (remember the awkward pause later when she asked him about why he was not letting her get up?) it is not just her heart that goes dhak dhak. something is happening here.

    2. Jaya,

Hmmm..I read it bit differently. At the end of Teri Meri it was Khushi who went "What just happened here". In this dance at the end Arnav went "What just happened here". At TM, Arnav knew something was happening throughout the dance while it was Khushi's emotions which were in a whirl. Today it was Arnav whose emotions were in a whirl whereas Khushi realized something was happening. (even before he started that whole intense bit, when tehy hold hands and stand apart Khushi looked at him and wondered).

TM was a reflection of Khushi's gentle nature whereas today was a reflection of the stormy Arnav.

Arnav has never been able to hug Khushi back when she hugged him. But today he literally pulls her into a bear hug and she willingly comes into his arms to hug him back. That plus the whole dance frenzy threw him off a bit at the end when senses returned. And yes he needs more privacy after moments like this.

The calmer atmosphere in the room I felt was also due to the fact that these 2 had released all their pent up emotions in that dance. Such an intense dance is very draining physically and mentally and then you are just sort of relaxed.

As for them being partners, one of my favourite sayings has been - a dancer's soul pervades the entire being. The physical being joins with teh soul to convey the esssence of the story or the emotions. In a duet, it is also teh joining of 2 such beings who give and take.

Hmm never thought of her comments being for the possesive dance

Something is definitely happening. And that moment on the bed, she not only understands he is affected but is also I think reminded of how she is affected by him too. Every Arnav outburst makes her shut out that part of her.

  16. Wed - Mar 28th - Part 1

    Repose for the Battle Weary!
As Arnav is lost in Khushi and her beauty, Khushi realizes Arnav’s hand is about to be burnt and cautions him. The match is thrown away and the room is plunged in darkness. (Much like Arnav being burnt by his love for Khushi and plunging their life in darkness). Even then he reached out for her and she willingly takes his hand (… promises to have and to hold, in joy and in happiness, in sickness and in health……)

Khushi suddenly realizes the bed is on fire and is completely freaked out. Arnav on the other hand is composed and says it is but a small fire. Khushi immediately puts it off with water but somehow is not assured that the issue has been settled and rushes for more. Arnav has to stop her and tell her that the fire was put out a long while ago with the first jug of water itself. Would the RS issue not have become a raging inferno today if Khushi had diffused it then like she did the fire today, by telling Arnav the truth? Also though she tells Arnav that she takes her instructions from him, she goes ahead and puts off the fire as she wants to without waiting for his instructions thereby deluging the bed when perhaps it could have been patted and extinguished. A sign that Khushi needs to learn to share her burdens perhaps? Also a throwback to Arnav’s comment by the poolside on Khushi’s quickly panicking nature? A panicked mind like an angry mind is a poor companion in times of duress.

And her concern shines through. Are your hands burnt? (2nd time after the medicine mix up). Matches are wet and Arnav is disgruntled.
Khushi opens the windows as if letting in life and its irritants only to have Arnav slam it shut again. Somehow the mosquitoes find their way only to him (maybe she is used to the hard life and its associated “perks”) She wants to ease his mosquito issue and gleefully lights a coil only to belatedly realize that she could have lit the candles with them (dimaag bitiya). Arnav senses something burning and is told it is his pride that is bring burnt to a cinder. Gosh Khushi cannot let one chance go to take a jibe at Arnav.

Arnav again tells Khushi to sleep on the bed only for both to realize it is soaked in water. Much like their love story which is waterlogged by both their tears *sigh* Arnav blames Khushi and she returns the favour also pointing out that he did not let her get up in time (a link at how he did not let her justify in time / speak to him in time on Payash wedding day?). But anyways an awkward moment when they realize what had happened on that bed with them amongst a rose strewn heart. And time to show that Khushi is also making a mark on Arnav. He has fought for the bathroom, the Bluetooth and now it’s time to race to the recliner. They reach their destination together although Arnav crosses a mini hurdle on the way. It is Khushi who suggests sharing and Arnav quietly agrees claims of him dictating her every move all but forgotten.

Arnav takes the lower corner while Khushi settles onto the top corner, their bodies indicating their tangential positions or being at cross purposes in this relationship. Khushi seems to be on moral high ground while Arnav is more ground reality driven. But with passing time and misunderstandings being dissolved (as the coil burns and Khushi’s mention of Arnav’s pride and ego being burnt), their positions change and continue to be in a state of flux. Both are still wobbly and not at equilibrium - When she has most of the recliner, he topples, when he is across most of it, her head falls out. And even in that sleep deprived state, Arnav catches her head just in time and places it back. They seem to ease into each other lives, imbibing the other’s virtues, their ideologies finding common ground until finally they are in tandem (parallel) and share the recliner equally. And once in sync, they both peacefully repose under the cloak of night in the cooling moonlight.

    1. the recliner.. ASR has now accepted that she is his lady love.. so he puts up no fight when she chooses her position on the recliner. he could easily have asked her to sleep on the floor, but now she is the princess in his heart. he is happy to share the recliner with her.

I personally did not like the way this scene was executed.. he should have gotten up and laid properly on the recliner once she fell asleep. and treat her like his precious, hugging her to him.. while she is asleep. yes, he did lift her head, but there was no need for (wink)tantric poses(wink) in the night.

now the mew title picture makes sense.. she is still trying to get away from him, but he has turned towards her.. he has accepted her in his heart..

    2. Jaya,

ASR has now accepted that she is his lady love - YES

but now she is the princess in his heart - Not sure / convinced he had at that point.

He could not longer make her sleep by the pool so making her sleep on the floor was out of question. The bed was wet. They were locked into the room with no phones. Don't think wither of them thought of the chairs of which there were 2. By virtue of elimination all that remained was teh recliner and their increasing comfort let them share.

I kinda liked this scene for the reason I wrote above. Easing into each other's lives and finding equilibrium. When at cross purposes or by trying to taekover (in a very broad sense) the other's life it has only resulted in some accident - khushi's dropping head could be her respect lost in Lucknow. Arnav's falling off could be burn from the hot tea she threw on him.

To me that scene was meant to convey how they start out at odds but end up together. And along teh way there are hiccups. But all this happens over a period of time and the burning of some individualities.

    3. Maybe more apt for Khushi takeover would perhaps be teh resulting attraction for her (Diwali) and how it caused him to hurt himself in the ensuing days.

And at teh end in the dark of night, though together they are still not really partners / mates. Theya re together. It is only with more time passing and in the mroning you actually find them them together, closer, leaning on each other. True companions!

  17. Wed - Mar 28th - Part 2

A true relationship of love requires the people concerned to be equal partners moving in tandem. It needs a dash of reality with the flight of dreams to grow and flourish.

As the morning dawns, even though the surroundings look battle ravaged, ArHi are found to be at peace. (Seeds are planted in damp dark soil but the shoots above ground need the sunlight to grow. So too the dreams planted the previous night need the light and clarity of day to take flight). Beautiful to see that it is Arnav who is leaning on Khushi as if depending on her while she rests her head more as if assuring him of her presence. (On Holi, she leant on him for support while he completed her whereas today he leans on her while she completes him). As Arnav wakes and opens his eyes, he cannot help but be mesmerized by the angel reposing before him. He makes sure her head is comfortably settled and makes to move away only to be pulled back by her MS tangled in his shirt. And the force of the tug awakens Khushi. Their bond is so strong that if Arnav tries to go away from Khushi, the tug at her heartstrings will alert her and she will awaken in time. As she awakes Khushi is surprised to see him near her. She makes to move away but her MS pulls her back. When Khushi tries to walk away from Arnav, she will come back to him bound by her marriage vows which she holds sacrosanct. She fumbles in trying to release the chain from his shirt and Arnav gently eases the chain off and hands it back to her. Unlike the grihapravesh where he was angry and in trying to tamp his emotions and memories, removed the earring in a huff. Having eased into each other’s lives he is gentler with her and in the future may willingly let her leave so that she can choose to return to him if she so wishes. (I recalled the NYE bed scene when there was a soft ArHi moment and Arnav looked at her similarly. Then his watch got stuck to her dress which he ended up ripping but today the MS which was stuck to his shirt symbolic of their marriage was gently removed and not ripped. He may not break the bond in haste but may agree to let Khushi decide if she wants to go away while letting her know he will be waiting.)
Khushi moves back but note she does not get up or anything. They are still on the same recliner but more in a companiable relationship (no proximity but no great chasms either). Keen to exonerate herself, she stresses how it was not her fault. Rather he came over to her side (but because she let him).

Arnav is about to retort only to realize his voice is lost. Khushi gloats at being able to ‘bolti bandh’ the LG but the wifely concern jumps out with the “What has happened?” When Anji comes, somewhere Khushi is exasperated and in a sweet way asks her to stop all this playacting. Perhaps when Anjali catches the stench of her dead relationship but is unwilling to accept the truth, Khushi will ask her to accept reality and stop living in the past.

Khushi’s wifely exasperation continues. And Anjali in her concern for her bro totally glosses over the bed burning and getting doused with water. Finally Anji figures out the culprit – the half burnt coil (an indication of half burnt misunderstandings which still cause Khushi to unknowingly inflict pain on Arnav?). A well meaning act on Khushi’s behalf has resulted in a near catastrophe for Arnav. (One man’s medicine is another man’s poison). Full on wife mode, Khushi sweetly asks Arnav of other technical faults she needs to be aware of so she can take care in the future (forgetting for the moment of the uncertainties the same future holds). And Khushi apologizes (like she did for unknowingly throwing hot tea at him thereby burning him). The child in Khushi takes over and as her batti lit up on the sangeet cancellation with “I hit you, You hit me back”, today she says Oh, you can have your bath first and take your own sweet time :)) Things are reasonably uncomplicated in Khushi’s world.

"Things are reasonably uncomplicated in Khushi’s world."

but now we see that the "100 ways to irritate ASR" book transforms into her diary.. she writes, his bolti bandh. and then, she teases him with the towel.. but is no longer shy to look at his bare chest.. she has reached a new level of trust with him with that dance and how it ended..

    2. Jaya,

"she still irritates him, is irritated by him, is scared of his gussa, and all that" - because that is essentially Khushi. These things about her I hope should never change.

"she teases him with the towel.. but is no longer shy to look at his bare chest" - yes because she is getting comfortable around him. When you are newly married for the 1st week there is a lot of awkwarness but then you get used to it. Plus yes the dance also would have helped eas in more comfort - Dance for a long time hass been considered a euphmisn for physcial intimacy. Socially hence the stigma that has been associated with it. Forms like the salsa, tango are raw passion and there is so much physical contact between the partners that at times they are very suggestive.

    5. Just wanted to add one more thing - when Khushi wakes up and sees Arnav so close, her first reaction is not to push him away, nor even to accuse him of coming closer to her or taking her space. It is to defend herself that she didn't encroach on his ... thereby telling him that he is welcome in her world, but he is the one who has been driving her away every time he got too close, by accusing her of doing the chasing ... remember Diwali night, when he came close for the kiss, then accused her of being a gold-digger and running after a rich man ...

Also she realizes that unwittingly she has found another way to annoy him (that list will eventually become a list of what all she would never do in his presence once she acknowledges her love and concern as they would cause him discomfort). Living together forces 2 people to get comfortable with each other. Just a day or 2 ago, Khushi was very flustered when she ran into a shirtless hubby with a towel on. Today he walks out shirtless and she does not even react. It’s all in a routine day already : )) Instead all her focus is on ribbing him that if he had only “told” her she would have handed him the towel.

At the breakfast table, family is doling out free advice on possible cures. As usual his Di who claims to understand his innermost unsaid thoughts fails to pick up a perfectly clear indication for butter. RS jumps in to rub salt saying Arnav wants to say something but is unable to do so – a direct hit at his silence on the truth to Anjali. Just about to give up, he turns only to see the exact thing he needs right before his eyes. And Khushi who has always understood his eyes and silences better gets into top form. It is his words that unerringly confuse her. She is translating and voicing that which he says and that which he wants to. And Anji is spot on with her assessment of how no one understands Arnav better than Khushi. The last time when he cricked his neck, she was all ready to “press his neck”. But today having unwittingly caused his voice to be lost, she is more concerned and watchful of his needs as she feels responsible.

Arnav begins to get confused. She understands his words and what he wants to say so well. Also certain things only his eyes emote but the lips don’t say. A reminder to him as to how much Khushi has observed about him. And Nani is a witness to this tennis match sitting between them. She is like the referee who is noting both their actions and reactions. Aakash ever the voice of reason makes a pragmatic suggestion – take Khushi along to office and she can be your translator for the day. Aah and RS has to put Khushi down with his difference in passing butter and sealing a deal jibe. He also attributes low intelligence to Khushi – tsk tsk a mistake considering she unraveled his 2 facedness. Arnav has also always attributed a low dimaag quotient to Khushi but forgets that she can tap into her mind when the need thus arises even though the scheme may be a bit harebrained or of drama queen nature. Both gentlemen are in for pleasant surprises in the future. Arnav is furious that RS dared to snub HIS WIFE. And Nani steps in with pragmatism and her wisdom. Communicating the other’s thoughts is more about understanding not about whether the thought is big or small. Nani is slowly shaping up to be Khushi’s backbone. She encourages Khushi and also bestows blessings as an elder. A reminder of KKGSR dabba service and Arnav is grumpy and Khushi rightly reads his eyes to realize he does not want her to go. (Ok girl you need to do more eye reading once the voice is back). Arnav is seriously flabbergasted at this point. She can read what my eyes say too? And he gives in – am sure it was that jibe about butter and big deals which actually clinched it – how dare anyone apart from Arnav say a word against KKGSR?

the week before was totally OTT and the CVs had to do an about-face and damage control what was left over, because of the huge outcry against what comedy happened before. there, arnav had a crick in his neck ("woh, last night"... anjali smirk) but no one in the family acted very concerned.. now, he lost his voice and everyone in the family is surounding him with remedies like clucking hens.. (my smirk at the CVs)

  19. Wed - Mar 28th - Part 3

Khushi settles her business for the day so she can concentrate on him without distraction. They have stepped out alone out of the house and as Khushi concludes her call, Arnav calls her. She instantly turns around asking “Did you call me?” And Arnav is simply stunned (speechless too!). Khushi reads the surprise in his eyes and simply tells him, I realized you were calling me (like the night of the accident, when the Arnav’s heart began to beat and he called out to Khushi and her heart responded by beating faster) How does she know he wonders? His conscious mind needs a reminder while his heart already know,

“Jab bhi tum mere paas hoti ho, toh tumhaare dhadkanon ke saath saath meri dhadkanein bhi tej ho jaati hain. Humarri dhakanein ek ho jaati hain – jo tum mehsoos karti ho, jo main mehsoon karta hoon..”

For all her jokes and mischief, she is careful with his medicines, But cannot resist that playful jibe about how “Aap chaahein ya na chaahein, aaj hum aapke gale padh hi gaye” – a sweet indication that whether you want it or not, today / from today on you are stuck with me : )) (for eternity) And as Arnav nods in agreement while taking his medicine, the new RV with the slight claps plays – music that speaks of new beginnings and playful banter.

The vice gripping RS goes a few notches tighter, Lawyer’s assistant makes an appearance and with the recent financial re-arrangement, RS wants a step up in understanding Arnav’s next moves. Sadly it is Khushi’s vocalization of the file’s location that leads RS to understand else he would not have known it is in Arnav’s cupboard given Arnav’s silence. RS is off searching for it only to be caught by his wife red-handed. She has walked in to change something in ArHi room and instead sees RS snooping.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Thurs– Mar 29th - Part 1

    Trust is key!

RS is caught snooping and fumbles around for excuses. He actually tells Anji the truth he was looking for property papers just like in the past that he was getting married a second time. Then she shrugged it off as a joke and today she asks him never to joke on such matters. Each time he has spoken the truth she has shrugged it off as a joke that is her trust in him. Talk of property and wealth are depressing as these have been causes for bitter memories. RS glosses it over with talks of how Anji and the baby are all his wealth but she is not pleased. Note how invariably at the key RS-TQ encounters the servant is present – today when Anji caught RS in the room, when they were at the pool at NYE and the electric wire incident happened, when the engagement ring receipt was discovered from RS’s kurta. Anjali is running blind in her trust that she needs another person to witness these incidents to be able to convince her when the time comes with remembrances. HP also saw RS and Arnav in that room on Payash wedding and came to hand over something to Khushi that evening – could he have seen RS writing the message on the mirror or at least noticed there was a message which caused Khushi to go up that evening? After all the silent and never noticed butler / handyman is the one whos is most clued in to the pulse of the house. Very little escapes his attention.

Arnav has always insisted Khushi be treated right at office – he dissuaded Shukla from calling her bhabhi (her being Mrs. Raizada is so important to him) and earlier had scolded La and Co for calling her Chamkeeli. There was a very subtle but poignant moment when Arnav unable to explain to his assistant turns to look for Khushi (he is showing his dependence on her – he was resting his head on her shoulder earlier in the morning like Khushi who had rested her head on him and depending on him on Holi). At the same time Khushi looks around and realizes he needs her and rushes to his aid.

Once in his office, she communicates on his behalf with Roy the lawyer only to realize that Arnav may be hiding something from her (Khushi is way better at reading a silent Arnav than a talking Arnav).

The important clients enter for the meeting and Khushi gets nervous. Arnav for the first time witnesses her monologue in trying to pep herself up. And then he sees her go from nervousness to confidence her way. Once she is assured she is all set and he has an indulgent smirk on his face seeing this. He tells Khushi “ki har kaam tum akeli nahi kar sakti”. Today he silently assists in boosting her confidence. The other day too he was a sounding board to her when she was planning out her dabba service nuts and bolts. Khushi’s chatter needs the silence of Arnav to find its balance.

Khushi who has walked out to attend a call rushes into the meeting. Arnav looked a tad nervous meeting his clients as he knew he would be unable to speak. Confidence, clothes and ego make ASR but today the loss of voice has shaken his confidence it seems. Besides he is worried about what Khushi may potentially do to the whole transaction (still low trust). Khushi takes over, introduces herself and the Lucknow Express begins to hurtle down the track with full on confidence. ASR’s nightmare and worst fears seem to have come true and Khushi seemed to have gone crazy by rattling on about unrelated topics. A shocked ASR increasingly despairs and wonders whether she was faking it at home or why did he ever have to accede to the family’s suggestion that he tag her along to office. The clients are annoyed and leave and Khushi is back to interpreting Arnav’s words spot on. Note the way Khushi just like Arnav did what needed to be done at that moment – of keeping the clients engaged, distracted but yet not giving away any vital information about the AR group.

And Aakash jumps in to question her actions and express his disappointment with her. He who has always trusted her seems to find his trust has been misplaced. He and his bro are off to do some damage control. When the clients offer to do the deal but for a higher advance, Arnav had a puzzled expression as if trying to figure out why they would agree at all (was he thinking of what’s the catch?). But Aakash being in a hurry to close this agrees quickly (making me wonder was this to be his first big deal at office?). And Khushi again interrupts saying No Deal – Now or Ever! Arnav is all set to lash out when Aakash stop him and attempts to reason with Khushi.

And then bang – we realize Khushi was being smart all along – ok not business smart but street smart. She overheard something and took steps to prevent it from causing a disaster (ring a bell – Arnav did something similar too nai by marrying her?) In her FB explaining how she realized the truth, Khushi wanting to bash those 2 jokers up when they bad mouth Arnav reflected how she cannot have Arnav being bashed by others.

Arnav’s trust has found another foot to stand on while Aakash has his trust restored – now it will be difficult to shake his faith in her actions and reasons easily. He apologizes for not listening to her (He who had trusted her decisions when the Payal drama unfolded Qed her today – because he felt she would not know about business. But like Nani said, it is finally a matter of understanding the situation whatever be the context).
He also accepts his mistake to Arnav. Arnav had trusted him to do the right things and set store by his actions and words because he trusted Aakash. Though he loved Khushi, he is yet to fully acknowledge to himself that he believes her to do what is right irrespective of means employed – just like him.

Aakash is now a staunch Khushi ally having seen her concern for Arnav at home and her commitment Arnav and his interests. Tomorrow if he comes to know of Khushi giving in to a contract marriage, he will without question support her action by saying she would have had her reasons. But when he know it was his wedding that was the leverage, his affection for her will soar whereas he will be angry at his brother for finally reducing his marriage to nothing more than a deal. Tomorrow when the time comes, he may side with Khushi at the cost of not siding with Arnav. Today Khushi deserves a treat or gift for saving the company. Tomorrow what would Aakash demand for her for having “saved” so many lives? She also tells Aakash that things she does have a reason or could be in jest so others around her need to realize that she would jest when the situation calls for it but would never fool around in serious issues.

Khushi as usual starts to explain how she figured out that there was something fishy going on right when she saw them in the process tells him about how people who speak the truth always look you in the eye and don’t steal their eyes away. Arnav has always told her things even hurtful stuff looking at her in the eye which is why Khushi has believed them. Also in most of the post wedding scenes, Khushi could not meet Arnav’s piercing gaze as she was not being completely honest. Arnav whi had always looked to her look up at him and call a spade a spade had no choice but to read her averted gaze as that of a dishonest person.
Khushi then latches on to the next point Arnav made about anybody making mistakes. And she asks him so do you accept that you can make mistakes too? Arnav who has in the past never condned mistakes from anyone lets Aakash off easily today. Has he imbibed some of Khushi’s humaneness? But Khushi pushes her luck in asking him if he is also prone to making mistakes.

    1. aakash.. I wish it would happen that way.. but I think the "khushi was engaged to shyam" bubble will break far before the "6month contract marriage" bubble.. because there are a lot of people in the first bubble, and only 2 persons in the second one....and hence, I think both khushi and payal will be accused of hiding the truth. how it resolves, we will wait and see.

her averted eyes hide so many things.. and not the things that he assumes. but he does not know that.

ASR has always been chote to his di and bhai to akash.. nothing new in his reaction to akash.

she should have told arnav of the rogues..but she came in too late to tell him. so she barged on with lucknow express, leaving ASR to have a heart attack. how can he forgive her?
yes she saved the company, yes, it was his fault for not checking jay and ajay (ROTFL names) background, but now taunting him about it? (Tom and jerry, get set go..)

    2. Jaya,

In both cases, I think Aakash will still stand by Khushi. He may admonish her like he did in office but he will also immediately accept the "bachan" aspect of her hiding teh engagement story. It is Payal who will face band baaja because she had that chance when he told her they will not hid anything from each other and she took him to task for hiding something.

With the 6 month thing, Aakash will get all protective of Khushi and may go to teh extent of saying how he cannot look up at his bro in the same light again.

But haan dekhte hain..hum yahaan itna likhenge phir hoga kuch aur hi...

    3. Yes, I also think Akash will stand by Khushi, if anything he will be, and should be, mad at Payal for hiding the truth from him - after all, he has never given Payal any reason to be scared of him, unlike Arnav with Khushi.

And Akshay Dogra's TB interview also seemed to indicate that he will be silent support to Khushi - now how silent he remains, will be the question.

In the car, trying to fill the silence between them (like Nainital trip) Khushi explains how she knows he is angry that she did not tell him first but paucity of time prevented her. She admits to babbling as she could have said anything she wanted and not caused harm. Sweetly admits to feeling bad for causing his voice to be lost and missing his WT : )) (Aww Arnav is used to Khushi fighting back anything he says and she is used to his WT. They do not scare her anymore.)
She stakes claim on having saved his company (had it been Arnav he would not have reminded her instead making a mention of his dimaag in passing but never the event.) Khushi talks of him saying Thank you and Sorry. Recalled the tyre phiss scene after the Payash rishta pakka, we had Dhanyavaad and Maafi then too and both were in a playful mood. Then too Arnav refused to give her credit for her help. Today was to be no different!

    Fri– Mar 30th

True relationships are a 2 way street!

Khushi is asking for credit from a man who has never acknowledged her contributions. But ever the child she believes he may be getting her a gift – he who has gifted her himself and his heart, who believes she deserves priceless gifts (cheap bracelet) can never think mere trinkets worthy of her. In his absence, Khushi attempts to get into the driver’s seat (like she did on Payash wedding day by driving forth on her decision of silence) and ends up being misjudged to be committing a crime. The diary which was to figure out ways to annoy ASR seems to have also become her channel of communication with her DM and she notes down his chot caused by her (because it annoys him and because she is guilty unlike when he cricked his neck by sleeping outside)

Taken to task by the policeman, Khushi is relieved to see HER HUSBAND (see both are getting so used to each other) and asks him to come bail her out. But Arnav’s ego has been hurt – first she saved his company (gasp he is indebted to her) and then she asked him to apologize. Ever the opportunist and a doer, Arnav sees his chance to get back at Khushi and makes his weakness his strength. He cannot speak and only she would be able to understand him. And she latches on (see Khushi needs to only see his eyes and ignore his words totally). He indicates with his eyes – am not sure he wanted her to do uthak baithak just wanted herto apologize. But enthusiastic Khushi in her child like mind thinks of that because that is how she is used to saying sorry to people she loves. She has always done it with Payal and today she does it again for Arnav (last was on NYE). She vocalizes to the cop that she is saying sorry to Arnav and not him because her action has affected him and she has anyways done nothing wrong where the cop is concerned. In future she will apologize to Arnav only for being guilty for unknowingly causing him chot but not for her actions from the wedding because she did what she thought was right at the time and Arnav like today will give in. He will bail her out. Khushi is all grumpy and gets into the car. Arnav starts to say something but in a very Arnav like manner Khushi cuts him short saying nothing more needs to be said – sweetie maybe he would have told you that he did not want you to do uthak baithak and thank you for the office help. But Khushi is annoyed and Arnav is all angry too.

Next day dawns and a sore throat and lost voice that was funny for Khushi earlier is now a cause for concern. Arnav seems to have long term suffering thanks to her unthinking act. Professional help is sought and a mention of factors other than infection is made. Arnav looks up at Khushi – a moment which speaks of Arnav’s silence being due to Khushi’s wrong actions. Khushi is now feeling very guilty and is all set to find a way to fix this. She does not even spare a thought to Payal whom mami is bullying (Khushi seems to be worrying less about Payal these days and letting her find her own way. Also Mami finally says only Hello Hi to Payal and seems to be more receptive of a bahu with spine who does not burst out crying at the drop of a hat). Khushi calls her parents on Payal’s suggestion and buaji answers. Like Nani buaji has always been a Khushi well-wisher though her actions and words may have been harsh. She was hurt by Khushi’s sudden wedding because somewhere she knew that for all her sanak, her titaliya was a very considerate and innocent person incapable of deceit. When Khushi was under attack / hurt, Buaji has been the lioness fierce in her protection of her cub. There may come a time when Khushi will have to reach out of her sasuraal and seek help from her maayka and then Buaji will speak for Khushi. (I mean even nani could have thought of kaadha, why does it have to be buaji’s nuska that finally works?).

i hate buaji.. more credit to the actress, but if she was hurt by khushi's emergency wedding, she should have said that.. instead, she questioned khushi's loyalty to her family, called her "always selfish" and outcasted her.
that is not how you treat a person if you are confident of her innocence.I have no love for buaji.

buaji will be called in to testify that she was the one who forced an unwilling khushi to get engaged to shyam.. her testimony is crucial here.

      That was a funny one : ))

Hmm ok so buaji will need to hang so Khushi can be exonerated hmmmm...Plus she saw him pursuing her even after Khushi broke up with him. Ok! she will have a role in the future...

And Arnav too seems to have had more conversations with Buaji rather than Khushi's parents na...theek hai lets see kya hota hai

Khushi’s thoughts are all focused on Arnav and making him drink the kaadha. Again he needs a little nudge with Di’s name to get him to do the needful. Nani is not his Nani in jest. ASR has inherited many of his traits from her. They are very similar and hence share an innate understanding and mutual respect for the other. It is this bond that hurts them when the other does or says something in contrast to shared beliefs (live-in for Nani, jibe at father for Arnav). Khushi speaks of her inability to sweeten the kaadha because of his illness – when she finally tells him about RS’s entire truth and how Arnav had played a part in it with his leaked video tapes, there is no way she can soften the blow because the truth would be very bitter and Arnav will be forced to swallow it.
But bitter or not, the kaadha / truth once swallowed works it magic and clears the block. And the first person Arnav thinks of is Khushi’s smiling face and her optimism. Just then Khushi rushes up to ask him if he is better and Arnav looks away and lies to her saying he is still suffering. Khushi who just the previous day spoke of the truth sayer looking into the others eyes misses his shifty looks. Or is it that she trusts Arnav to only speak the truth when he does speak. Besides she believes him incapable of having fun and being mischievous. She never saw him on NYE with a glued Aakash on the chair or grabbing the jode ki thaal from NK.

Arnav has always wanted to shake Khushi’s near unshakeable belief / confidence in getting results. Her optimism has always been a puzzle for him. So he sets out to confuse her and challenge her again while enjoying the attention and guilt-trip she is suffering. Of course, she does lets loose a salvo about LG’s immunity to typical cures (aah! See that was spot on Khushi, if you need to cure him of his MU a typical cure is not the way to go. He needs to be shaken up pretty badly for that to happen). And then as she wonders aloud about possible reasons, he cooks up a plan about dust and its harmful effects. Khushi recalls the doc’s words and sets to cleaning in frenzy. Arnav is so enjoying this hassled Khushi. She keeps checking on him from time to time. Her concern unlike Anji’s is not smothering rather loving. She does not get paranoid with his ailment but sets about setting it right as best as she can. Arnav needs space in love and his love for Anji is more from his insecurity of losing her and a sense of duty for her happiness. At times duty bound love can get very burdensome too and there are times Arnav wishes Anji would just back off and let him be.
Khushi claims she will not let any pest near Arnav (true she is shielding him from the biggest reptile there is). She claims to change her name the moment he can spot another speck of dust and guess what the broom falls causing the flower pot to break. Every time Khushi tells herself the problem has been fixed, there seems to be a corollary that opens to the issue putting her in a spot. Even when the MU with Arnav is fixed, something will happen to put her in a spot with the rest of the family. And as Arnav watches, she clears it up – Can we hope that once by her side, he will forever be by her side even if he stands back and lets her independent spirit fight for herself but ever ready to jump in if needed.
Khushi is still frantic. She brings hot water and though she is holding it with her bare hands she makes sure to cover it in a cloth before handing it to Arnav so he may not be burnt. She can claim to hate him all she wants but her actions will always show her concern (how like Arnav has she become).

    1. let it be said here that not once after the dance has she said she hates him.

her nakhra diary now becomes her confessional.. i hurt him again today..why did she write that in the car? was it because he lost his voice, or because she taunted him about her win?

the next day, she is truly feeling guilty for causing him to lose his voice.. tries everything possible..

and her concern, like you said, is totally different from how anjali would do it.. and that is how it should be.

    2. Very true, Khushi's love and concern for Arnav is very different from Anjali's. I've said it before - Anjali weakens Arnav, while Khushi is his strength. And that's because Anjali is herself a weak character, while Khushi is a strong one. Anjali reminds Arnav of his painful past, while Khushi will show him how to always look forward to the future.

Nani sees Khushi scurrying up and down in concern and witnesses her care for Arnav. Aakash and Nani have always been friendly with Khushi and seen her for the beautiful person she is in individuality. Also other than Anji, the only 2 people whose words register with Arnav are these 2. So while giving cause for Arnav to trust Khushi and see her concern for him, making those around him (especially these 2) was a nice touch. Nani has earlier seen Arnav’s concern on haldi night (broken bangle, fainting Khushi and Arnav all freaked out). Today she sees Khushi equally stressed with Arnav’s voice condition. She now knows that these 2 care for each other very much. And knowing their innate natures, she will be able to piece together gaps as and when they present themselves to her. She knows Khushi is one who has hidden her pain for others happiness while Arnav is very temperamental and prone to decisions unthinking of ramifications in anger.

RS meanwhile is getting desperate to check that file and understand how lost his cause is. He does not even care that Arnav is at home and can walk in anytime. Earlier Anji put paid to his search, today it was payal. Recalled a teej scene wherein Anji says, it is after all we elder sisters who look out for our younger ones. But he is also making progress. Last time he only managed to open the cupboard, today he managed to fit the key in before he had to abort.

And then it is time for some unconventional action from Khushi when the traditional methods fail. She sneaks up on Arnav with a knife. He is nonplussed and is wondering what new drama his wife is cooking. Her shouts alert the family who come in running to witness Khushi attempting to stab him. And it is at the moment she would have done so that his hand shoots out and he yells at her. She is so excited to have his voice back. Again Nani is the first to catch the drift of Khushi’s actions and credits Khushi. Payal speaks of her lunacy in a good way and mamaji also praises her thinking. Mami comes around once she realizes Khushi only meant Arnav well. In this scene, it was the 3 Raizada women – Nani, Mami and Payal who stood like a wall b/w RS and ArHi. They have also seen how Khushi’s actions have a reason behind and she only means well.

But Arnav feels tricked. He was playing a game and had to accept his voice is back right when he was not ready. Loss of control leads to anger and he ends up trying to regain control at the cost of Khushi who realizes he had lied to her. And Arnav realizes his blunder. Unmindful of family the 2 begin to bicker and then stop. The family decides the husband and wife to sort their issues in private and move out. Basic difference between Anji and the rest. When she is told of trouble between them, she steps in to mediate whereas the rest led by Nani step away to let ArHi resolve it amongst them.
Any relationship is rife with ups and down and the couple in the course of traversing this bumpy road discover each other’s concern, love and trust for each other. Anji seems to have had only ups in her married life which should be an alarm bell because how can there never be any down in a relationship? Anji has missed this practical lesson today (there is never anything like a free lunch). If she had tried to intervene, am sure Nani would have told her that ArHi are a unit and will resolve things their way in their own time. Forcing them for another’s sake would not be the way. And therein lies the paradox b/w the HM scene and today. Then Anji wanted them to resolve their issue for her whereas today they are left to resolves issue for themselves.

    1. Again very true ... Anjali seems to think everything can be "fixed" and she does her best to do the needful, or she gets teary when Arnav refuses to 'fix' things ... e.g. when he refused to marry La at the last moment. While Nani, the older and wiser one, expresses her feelings - disappointment in the case of La, and confidence in Khushi at present, and leaves him to face the consequences of his words and actions - right now, which means facing his hot-tempered and very annoyed Biwi.

  26. Mon– Apr 2nd - Part 1

Communication is part listening, part talking, part seeing and part understanding!

Quickly speaking of RS before I move on. RS is getting desperate. He has to know whether his efforts of all these years have been negated in a single stroke of his foolish challenge. Has he lost the power and money he has worked for in his chase for Khushi? He does not let go of a single chance to search for that document. And as you get desperate, you tend to make mistakes. Again it is the elder sister’s arrival that thwarts his plan. Also Nani knew RS stayed back at home for some work today whereas ArHi came along with her.
RS has left behind his raksha dhaga on the handle of ArHi wardrobe. Last time, it was with such a string of thought that Khushi unraveled his entire yarn. Is it time for it to be unraveled in her eyes again – the extent of his duplicity. Will Arnav see it and assuming it to be Khushi’s complicity in having him out of the way to let RS have free access and accuse her? But this time she has had enough and she lashes back at him and like at La’s engagement breakup let slip something vital that shakes Arnav?

Khushi is the key that opens the locker to the truth for both RS and Arnav. The key is lost to RS whereas it is only temporarily held in abeyance from Arnav. So who has a higher possibility of finding the key and using it?

In private ArHi set out to resolve this latest issue between them. Khushi questions him on his lie and again talk of giving her credit comes up. She has been getting credit from his employees for feeding them well, from family for understanding him, from the police for helping apprehend criminals and from his brother for bailing him out. He is seething from what happened at office – an arena where his image and reputation was revered as the consummate businessman where he had to resort to her voice to talk and where she has helped save him from a loss. Now his family wants to put her on a pedestal for bringing his voice back. Khushi seems to be taking over every facet of his life and overshadowing him / his identity.
Khushi wonders why would he make her go crazy with worry, be hurtful, so tone hearted, belittle the small things in life, get so worked up over seemingly small things and have extreme feelings of lover and hurt. Again, in a recall of NYE scene, Khushi attempts to understand why Arnav is this person he is. (Over the past week, I have been reminded of NYE a lot making me think of bonds of a lifetime and forever as prophesied). And Arnav actually answers where earlier he was refusing to.

Arnav talks of his BIG EGO which makes him who he is Arnav Singh Raizada. His emphasis on the prestige of his name is because of his efforts in earning that for himself against all odds. And hence his ego and his belief in him being the writer of his own destiny. Like I felt after watching the Tue dance, Khushi will need to learn to love ASR and not just the affectionate Arnav – just like Parvati loves the meditative and tempestuous facets of Shiva. The ASR in Arnav will never go away because it defines him. What needs to happen is the ego of ASR needs to be honed to be more perceptive and outward looking then just inward looking. I was reminded of the sword fight from Jodhaa Akbar, where initially Jodha has an upper hand with her sword at his throat. Akbar reminds her that he is her husband as well as the Emperor of all India before distracting her and finally managing to gain an upper hand when her attention is distracted. Today Arnav grabs the knife out of her hands and holds it to Khushi’s throat because Khushi is distracted by the puzzle of what makes the man before her tick.

yes, he did not want her to get credit for this one too.. his ego cannot stand it. he freely admits it to her. will she understand and take necessary action to prevent further ego clashes?

      Delete
    2. Yes, again - TALK - the key ... communication ... he tells her frankly, this is what I am, this is what makes me ASR ... take it or leave it ... slowly she is getting to understand what makes him tick ...

But too slowly ... she hasn't yet understood that he hides his deepest emotions because he thinks of them as his weakness ... so she hasn't yet learnt, that when he's exposes his emotions, it makes him uncomfortable, it threatens the safety net of his ego, because it exposes his vulnerability ... and the best way to deal with that is not to run after him with questions, because he won't be pressured into answering them, he will just cloak them with anger again. She has to learn to read him and to let him be ... he will come back to her soon enough if she shows him her own softness and vulnerability, because Bitwa doesn't like to see his wife vulnerable and defeated any more than he likes to see himself so.

But ultimately the credit does go to Khushi as she rightly pointed out. Her actions whether straightforward or unconventional, achieved the desired results. But Arnav’s hurt ego is furious and he is all set to lash out when Khushi changes track. Arnav is confused momentarily. Khushi speaks of an imaginary Sorry from him while telling him that if he apologizes, she will forgive him. She actually moves forward to hold him by the shoulders and her eyes tell him someone is watching. She has again initiated a HMC act but while letting him know it is one unlike him. When he initiated the HMC acts, he only told her afterwards or she saw the voyeur for herself. Even in this she is still truthful to him. And Arnav who professes to not know what Khushi’s mind is cooking up can read her eyes as well as she can his. And ASR acknowledges her quick dimaag in the situation and pipes down.

It is Nani who sees them continuing to disagree. Nani who believes in letting them be but is still the matriarch, the mentor. She stands there with a pooja ki thaal as if sent by DM herself. The single lit lamp on her thaal could be read as her wisdom or her single mindedness in keeping getting ArHi together. Anji always looks at Khushi’s smiles and tells herself that all is ok. Nani has seen a smiling Khushi but she also saw something else. Earlier it was she who had pointed to the Tom and Jerry nature of their relationship and how they eagerly pacify each other once the other is hurt. But today she sees nok jhok but perhaps not the same eagerness to pacify each other.
As ArHi walk away from each other, Khushi walks to Nani and Nani promptly sends her back to Arnav. Even on Holi I had maintained that whenever Khushi hesitates, Nani will encourage her to claim her rights on Arnav. In a way an old wish for an elderly mentor who knows Arnav an can joke around with him and playfully push him around while also engaging Khushi in banter without causing further confusion seems to be coming true. Nani also knows why Arnav is who he is, she knows about his ego and why he has one too. She realizes that he may need a nudge to awaken him to some facts.

Nani is a master planner and executes plans making usre to plug all loopholes. It is not enough to bring Arnav to the venue. She confiscates his keys, Aakash’s keys , threatens Anji of a scolding (ensuring the anything for Di trump, planst doubts about traffic and threatens Aakash with disallowing his watching Paayls’ performance, ensures her costume is left behind at home, Anji has left home and calls a tailor for dresses which would suit ArHi more than her). Nani looked at a situation and set out to set things right too just ike Arnav. But she did not do so in haste. She thought of what she wanted and set about making sure every piece fell into place just when she wanted it to and where she wanted it to fall. This is the Nani who thought of Oo La La and even managed to ensure MB’s participation.
Nani wants Arnav to have a blessed life but not by forcing him or putting conditions. She just ensures he gets a chance to walk the path before he decides.

In the car, again it is ArHi who are lugging things for the family – as always. Arnav does not want her to carry the heavy bag but Khushi still hurt from before says she will manage. Besides he has to bear the weight of all that ego is it not. Made me think of the hotel scene where they meet to conspire for Payash confession. Khushi told the waiter, yes 2 tables please, one for him and one for his ego :))

Nani gave the love birds some time alone at the boot hoping maybe there will be some reconciliation but all she sees is Khushi huffing away all alone with all the bags. Ok not the desired result as they are yet to kiss and make up. So Mission “Make Arnav stay back by hook or crook” continues. Arnav is chasing her and asking her to snap out of this childish tantrum.

    1. nani once told khushi, not to lie about accepting (lavanya's) fault for the missing goat.. she knows that all things are not what they seem.. and she knows ways to right them. in fact, it was nani who planted khushi's name in anjali's head (for someone to train la). why? because she saw something between ODB and ODG when she witnessed the resignation speech...

it is good that nani is on their side.. for now.

    2. Jaya,

Thanks for reminding me of the goat and la. Nani also told Arnav both at teh engagement breakup as well as after the sudden marriage that she knows he has some big reson for his actions.

I have always wondered if Nani sensed a spark b/w ArHi in that resignations scene or realized that Khushi with her nature and guts to stand up to Arnav would be the right one for him and set about setting them up.

She also told MB, La, ODB and TQ after Khushi's last day that is Khushi is a habit I hope that everyone develops such a habit / gets addicted to such a habit. Anji was speaking of how used to she is to have Khushi around when la says she forgot Khushi will not come to RM any more.
At that time also I had felt that Nani aimed that bard indirectly at arnav.

Hmm...lets wait and watch. She is proving to be a better cupid than RS and Anji na

    3. Sandy, you always said na, that Nani will be Khushi's biggest support? I agreed ... am glad the cv's seem to be reading our thoughts ;)

And I'm glad they are bringing in the other R characters more strongly now and giving them better defined roles. Also with Mami slowly bending towards Khushi and Payal (remains to be seen what her attitude to Payal will be after today's fiasco) ... the entire RM family members are slowly taking up their positions alongside Khushi. Does this mean that the Shyam revelation is coming soon? And will this upset the equations all over again?

But Nani has an agenda and she is not letting him off so easy. They say people as they grow older become more childlike and Nani decides to do the honours as Arnav refuses to behave like chotey. But she is not just all dimaag, she is a letha combo of dimaag and dil. Someone who was called jaan and gulaabo and tackled a 5 glasses of bhang drinking husband cannot be discounted so easily. Initially she is cajoling but later resorts to issuing a direct order though in a light tone. Tom has been managed now Nani is off to tackle Jerry,

Khushi has discovered a missing costume. Loved how Nani logically conducts the affairs not letting Khushi believe that something could be amiss. That it indeed was a case of costumes forgotten somehow. Nani also tells Khushi that she will participate – not they! I am sure she had called the dresswaala before and briefed him that she will call and to have a particular kind of costume ready.

Arnav is not even willing to stay back for his Di. He is willing to take daant from Nani too. But his plans to fly away are thwarted. She has hedged all her bets. Anji in desperation turns to the one man Arnav has always listened to in the past but today Arnav is in mood to listen. Only Arnav and RS know how much of a sham their cordial relationship is. Interestingly, today RS actually says, YOUR WIFE is performing (a first for him, it has always been khushiji) with nary a smirk. For good measure he again talks of his loyalty to RS. Hmm, makes me wonder is he working on the Believe Me Arnav act because of the uncertain financial future and those legal documents that hang over his head. Arnav is in no mood to listen.

“We are destined to be together – be it a Lucknow fashion show or a Delhi fancy dress. Beneath all these lights and mirrors, it is finally just the 2 of us”

Walking towards the same goal (towards each other) ArHi collide into each other with a bang. Arnav is just gritting out a Look where you are going when Khushi grabs his head and not a worry bangs their heards together again (2 hoots about whether he will get hurt). And Arnav looses it – are you crazy (bitwa you have already accepted she is) and Khushi talks about how she does not want a horn on her head. As she makes to move away, she trips, falls and he catches her and the fragile edifice around them comes crashing down (much like their nascent dreams of love).

A rod lands on Arnav’s back while another right on to his face. The one on his back made me think of the burden of love and guilt that he bears while the hurt on to his face causes him to close his eyes to the key in this whole situation – the MU involving Khushi. It falls and stays there for a while.
When Khushi realizes he is hurt and the cause of the same, her instant reaction is concern. (She did it for him when his sugar level dropped and she held him up between her arms to prevent him from falling). She throws the offending rod away and jumps to his care. She rubs his forehead and wishes the hurt away as if blowing away the cobwebs that shroud his eyes. Arnav’s eyes open and he sees a caring Khushi, one who is worried for him, one who is worked up that he was hurt and one who is tirelessly working to alleviate his pain. And his eyes say- who is this girl? Do I even know her? She has nearly cupped his face like in the gazebo at holi and I am sure both their hearts were racing away. When the heartbeats reach a crescendo, Khushi steps back and slips (maybe on the rod that fell).

Both reach out to each other, Arnav to prevent her falling while Khushi’s hand reaches out for his shoulder. In the process the rod on Arnav’s back that he bore all this while (the burden) falls. They end up in the evergreen RK banner lovers pose shrouded by a golden hue of happiness – it almost looked like a kiss under that curtain, did it not? - a kiss of love that turned the frog into a prince and awoke snow white from her poisoned apple sleep. (Curtains, silence, mirrors – a very dream like setting too).(Also thought of that scene where a chunni from Arnav’s hand falls on Khushi and she recalls how her mother had said that jiske saath dil ke taar jude hon, agar uske haath ki chunni aapke sar par gire, toh un dono ko shaadi ke bandhan main bandhne se koi nahi rok sakta)

Hearing footsteps, ArHi awaken from their dreamy trance all flustered checking their clothes, face and hair (so sure it was to show a kiss now : ))) And straight back to real world with a vengeance - Arnav wants his car keys, Khushi wants to know about Nani’s costumes. Nani realizes how these 2 are still not reconciled and continues to distract them and goes on with her hook or crook plan by professing a liking for the song being played – not even bothered that it is Chikni Chameli. ROFL!!!!

MB is a mast maula and has already started swinging to the song when it started and is busy dancing. Khushi has already danced to ladki badi hai kamala ki with La and Oo La La with family. Her dancing to CC would have been no big surprise to Arnav. The song lines and actirs being shown was well managed here too. When they spoke of note hazaaron ke – they show MB. And aayi CC chupke akeli pawwa chadaake aayi – they show Khushi. Khushi is a bit surprised to see mami in full to mood on the opposite side of the stage. Mami warns Payal about doing gadbad who si quick to assure her all will be well. Soon after, seeing Khushi dancing full on, mami rushes to her side (Khushi gains another supporter inside RM). When the truth comes out, Nani and Mami will support Khushi over Payal.

When Jaanlewa Jalwa hai dekhne main halwa hai plays – Arnav come there and spots Khushi (I was ROFTL so much here). He sees Nani, Mami and Khushi all dancing in abandon and goes Crazy. (ring a bell ladies – happened to him during Oo La La too. And then he was amused at how Khushi managed to bring together all his family and how for her happiness, together they put up a crazy dance).

MB is the natural choice to talk about TV shows – she is the only TV addict in RM :D She is slowly warming up to Khushi – guess he has always loved Khushi’s spunk. Almost hi-fives only to realize that oops!! Not yet that friendly. And Nani cutely says bye bye causing Khushi and her to erupt into peals of laughter. Arnav is lost all over again. This is his Khushi – the jhalli Khushi, lively bubbly, somehow manages to bind together his crazy family and put a smile on everyone’s faces. But seeing her gazing back, he slowly comes out of the trance and for a moment seems to ask himself “What just happened to me”. He seemed confused and lost..aww!!

Khushi has on her side Arnav, Mami and Nani. Mamaji, Aakash are with Anji throughout. Anji thinks Shyam is with her throughout. Hmm wondering if RS will make a gaffe about Khushi’s beauty like he did at the sangeet to Anji. Payal is all alone.

The organizer comes and asks for Mrs. Raizada and Mrs. Raizada and the look of fierce pride on Arnav’s face was a treat. Reality beckons, there is a show to perform, costumes to arrange and people scatter. Arnav wants to leave but a low phone battery forces him to seek Nani again for car keys.

    1. parde ke peeche kuch hua nahin.. too bad. and it is khushi who lifts the curtain off them.. symbolism?

i did not like the dancing bit.. why?
      - because no one else was dancing.
      - because CC is nani's "favorite song"!(she announced that even before they announced the song.. okay, maybe to get out of kiddos questions, but still!
-because its not a song i'm comfortable with, i dont think nani should be either.. mami, on the other hand, loved jilebi bai.. so its okay for her to dance. but the first steps..near payal.. i was like, WT?

The next segment bowled me over on first watch and it just got better and better with each repeat. The song, words and character depictions were thought out and I went AWWWW!!!

“Tere ishq mein dooba rahe, Din-raat yunhi sada
Mere khwaab se aankhein teri naa hoye ab juda”
Setting the mood for both ArHi. Talk of dreams and togetherness.

“Mera naam tu haathon pe apne likhe baar haan
Aye kaash ke aisa bhi din laaye woh Khuda”
Khushi is shown (She did write A on her mehendi and she is a believer of DM / god). And she has wished for a day when the one whose name was written on her hand would become hers.

    “Tu hi mera mera mera”
Initially it’s just Khushi and then Arnav enters. Feelings of affection had begun at Khushi’s end and only later Arnav ahd realized his affection when he was separated from her by her ex-fiancee.

    “Tu hi mera mera mera”
Khushi wears another heavy necklace on her neck today though smilingly – can you think of another day when she was getting decked up in his presence but the weight of the necklace weighed her down and pained her. But today she is all smiles.

    “Tu hi mera mera mera”
Arnav looks on at Khushi getting ready

    “Hai teri chahat meri zaroorat
Sooni hai tujh bin duniya meri”
The pain and yearning in Arnav’s eyes when the next lines play was such a reflection of his inner most wishes. Arnav talks of wanting her, his need for her and how his world is incomplete without her.

“Naa reh sakoonga main door inse”
Arnav walks away only for Khushi to sense him and turn around to looks for him. Khsuhi would find it difficult to stay separated from Arnav for a long period.

    “Hai meri jannat galiya teri”
Khushi does not find him and it feels as though she tells herself how her paradise / jannat are the pathways of his life.

“Ummeed ye seene mein leke main hoo jee raha”
Khushi’s heart still has hopes that she may one day be his

“Kabhi tu mile kahe mujhse ke main hoon bas tera”
And here she opens her eyes to see him while he comes to her holding out her earring. For both wish only for the other in their life to complete their incomplete selves.

    “Tu hi mera mera mera”
Hamaari dhadkanein ek ho jaati hain – both of them echo the feeling that they wish

It is almost like a sign to Khushi who is being returned something she lost unknowingly.
This is the 3rd time – payal (at Diwali), earring (mehendi) and again a jhumka (fancy dress).
Each return has been followed by a display of affection that has caused Khushi to hope and then shattered her dreams each time. How will it be this time? The music gives me hope.
Diwali spoke of nasha from Arnav’s end
Sangeet spoke of mushkil due to Khushi
Fancy dress song speaks of tu hi mera…and shows both of them.
So will the Heer Ranjha act clinch the confession?

Also see how differently Arnav returns the articles – and indication of how their relationship has changed:
At Diwali, he took a lot of liberty and authority over her to put back her payal, her permission was never sought – literally imposed himself on her.
At mehendi he let her know he found her earring soon after she lost it (she knew he noticed it was lost because he told her the night before). He lessened the load on her hands, took her hands in his (again a little authoritative / possessive) and placed it there. He did not take the liberty of putting it on.
Today he just holds it out to her letting her know she lost something, that he found it and has it and is giving it back to her. She chooses to take it from him. He no longer imposes but lets her choose. He no longer takes her answer for granted but seeks to know her wishes and views.

Having handed over what is hers, Arnav walks away but turns to look back with hope and maybe doubt (usually its always been only Khushi who turns back when walking away from him I think) to see if she chose to keep it or throw it. When he sees her wearing it, music in the form of IPK title track – jo pehle hua naa ab hone lagaa hai. Hope blossoms and a slight happiness makes its way to his face!

She had only taken the mannat ki chaabi, she told him as soon as she found it, wanted to return it, he told her to throw it away but she chose to keep it and later returned it to him as it was rightfully his. He knew she had found it and when she returned it he realized it she had had it all the while. She did not force or impose. She gave it back to him and let him choose if he wanted to keep it or throw it and he chose to keep it (temple engagement day).

If you truly love someone, let them fly free, if they come back they will be yours forever, if they don’t they were never yours to keep. Love is not about binding but freedom.

Arnav who has lost his mother wished to bind Khushi and her love to him before. He has seen Anji bind him to her in the name of love by her dependence. Mami is bound to mama by money in the name of love. So far he has only seen Aakash and Payal get together purely out of love and that is why perhaps his conversation with Aakash made him realize he loved Khushi that fateful night.
Khushi had feelings for Arnav but let him fly free and he has always come back to her. And every time Arnav has let her free / sent her away she has come back to him as fate kept bringing her back.

    1. Loved your earring symbolism ... wrote something similar in my edited post ... yayyyyy, we think the same! I forgot the payal before that, though ... nice one!

Had a long day at the hospital today with no net access, loaded this page and spent a good time editing my post and reading through the omnibus - hadn't got it all though - so reading this after posting my take ... we think alike on a LOT of things!!! :))

Khushi is wondering what just happened and who comes running to give her that much needed nudge – Nani.

Back to the dressing room, Nani has the costumes which she says are not as per expectations. But ensures Khushi is ready and in costume. A vision in red, Arnav’s favourite colour, and sporting a look very reminiscent of their first meeting in a similar setup. Braided hair in a golden pranda, maang tika, chunni on her head and very very worried. That day she wore green and was not in sync with the theme. But today she is in red, the colour of love.

Nani is all set to improvise. And for khushi’s sake (more like for Arnav) explains the essence of the story. 2 star crossed lovers who after facing many trials and separations come together to be married only to die from the same poisoned sweet and thus are united in their death.

The mirrir was used very well here. Arnav is only shown as a reflection in the mirror through most of the narration. It is his subconscious that is shown engaged in the love story. Nani sets the tine of the tragic love story and speaks of Heer’s death. The camera pans to show a Heer in person with her Ranjha in the BG in the mirror. Almost as if the Arnav in the mirror is a reflection of the Khushi in the foreground. Note in the mirror, behind Arnav you see sepia tones and bleak desrt like landscape. He is shades of white and grey. Bleak is his life with no colour in it.

Khushi takes over and continues on how Ranjha unable to save his Heer, eats the same poison and dies. The reflection reflects the pain and anguish in Heer’s eys at this tragic end to people who loved each other. And the Heer says “Kyunki Heer ke bina toh Ranjha ka koi wajood hi nahi hai”

The picturization was superb – Heer as in Khushi in person while Ranjha as the reflection in the mirror. A reflection has no identity / wajood of its own. It is but an image of the person before the mirror. Kyunki Khushi ke bina Arnav ka koi wajood nahi hai (You complete me!)

Speaking of deaths on the wedding day strikes a chord with Arnav’s sub conscious which understand the pain of loss.

Nani send Khushi off to the stage and Arnav seemingly walks out of the mirror into the scene – from bleakness into the lights. Of course Love Stories are stupid and they have not practiced. And he is concerned that she has sent Khushi out there to face the music.

Nani is no pushover – she is the rani on this chessboard with ArHi being mere pwans. She continues her helpess act. Arnav’s dialogue on Ranjah being a male and the costume also being for a male for totally ROFL. The other day Arnav was asked about his partner, today Khushi is asked about hers.

And Nani makes her final strike – Arnav you can wear this dress – there it solves everything. Arnav is speechless. Loved how they have chosen a black dress for him. He is after all the Dark Knight!

  34. At last was able to watch the episode –( while Khushi/Heer was awaiting for her Ranjha, my Ranjha turned up early !! arrhh my ranjha always has a wrong timing, when it comes - me watching a show – cant say that to him. *head desk* )
@ Sandy will read your take for the week soon!!

Don’t have much to add after Dia’s update and analysis form you all. But here is 2 cents on the episode. Loved the episode. First let me bow to the CV’s and Sarun excellent, fantastic way they wove the Heer -Ranjha into Arnav-Khushi!!! CV’s if you keep this up with this significant point that the Arhi are above the normal love story, they are high on battle of emotions and intense passion. Then I am sure this show can run for a long time.
Write from the start where K goes on the stage till, back in the green everything was bang on.
For me more than the real act on the stage it was what led ASR to the stage and then for his emotional outburst. To me it was like FB of initial story or their story till date-
The whole thing right from the start where she is asked where is your ranjha ? Reminded me of the first episode where she is force to go to Sheesh Mahal and on the road she is asked by the child where is your Rajkumar? Today the way she is pushed to stage with nothing under her control was so similarly to when she was forced on the ramp with no idea to what is in stored. Crowd Insulting ridiculing so same again. I loved Nani’s line here “ if it was a business’s deal would you have turned your back?, before it was a business deal for him and no space her emotions, so didn’t bother about her emotions and how his action affected her . He didn’t believe in her innocence .again today it wasn’t a business deal hence it didn’t make any difference to him; he (ASR) was still the adamant with his view. But when Nani puts it as her “kawaashi “ he turns into Arnav for whom his family is everything, their dreams, their wish, he would do anything to fulfill them, but still there is hesitancy. So Nani goes ahead and uses her Bhramaashtra (Khushi). She says “aapke Patni ka saab ke samne manch per majaak oh iska apko knonoo mayine nahi., ” that makes him weak. Was it in that moment which made Bitwa go back to old memories?? Yes it was! Did this lit Bitwa’s dimaag’s , (hope so) In past he didn’t believe in her innocence and she was out casted and ridiculed, was he doing the same again not giving her the benefit of doubt? Like in past it was Anjali who forced Khushi to come to Arnav with asking her to come to RM, today Nani forced A towards K on the stage where her life was left as a play to be written the way they want.
In the meantime Khushi tries to gain her footing “Bhaagte tho jhute hai , Saache Dadte rahete hai” (loved this line again because it so defines K here and her days when she stands for her respect and right against the mighty ASR.) She tries again to prove herself, but is pulled down by the crowd making her to back off (reminded me of GH track) the moment she is stepping back and standing on the crossroad thinking which way to go- enters her Ranjha- her Arnav. She is baffled as how did he enter to the stage holding her (reminds me of hospital track and K trying to understand her feelings) he asking her to lead saying, he has been forced and don’t know what to say (reminded me of the gazing of stars where for the first time he showed his vulnerability as how he was forced be the ASR, today he puts back his ego and brings out the lost child asking her to lead him the way)
Next lines were again amazing ‘’that we don’t need words, our eyes speaks , that you know and that I know” that’s so true in the way their love blossomed, and will be questioned by who doesn’t know the meaning of love ( again loved with how these lines they brought shayam between them) Did Bitwa connect the dots here with his lost voice two day before in Arhi land? Where she understood him without saying while others questioned him without understanding what he wanted to say?? Maybe think and hope so!!

    1. Aaru,

      TAKE A BOW!!!

Yes today was all about summing up the story so far. I loved the way you have in detail mapepd it back to the past.

When it struck me late night yday after I saw the epi on YT, for a second I was wamooshed!!! From now on it should hopefully be exploring an uncharted course on new seas.

referring to point below, yes all of Khushi's narration was to make Arnav remember their journey so far / their relationship so far - the ups and down, the fun moments as well as the scary ones. And she left him with that thought of her death which played a role in him opening up.

Nice catch on the BG colours. I totally missed that :D

You have done a great job at analysis yourself and you talk as if we all do something extraordinary...:)

    2. Aaru,

Saw the epi again and realized something.

      If Khushi's narration was all about their story, their coming together and nok jhok;
Arnav's narration was about every instance he had hurt Khushi, every time he had thrown her away, asked her to GET OUT, broken her heart because he could not face his emotions, had to bear the poison of her loss.

It was a heartfelt apology how he never meant any of it. How she always meant so much to him. Finally landing back at that one time in the past when he unknowingly confessed to La about how he felt for Khushi. Today he told her as much.

      Delete
    3. WOW< Aaru ... this was fabulous!!! Especially the parallels of their first meeting, when Khushi was pushed onto the stage yesterday ... much like she was pushed the first episode when she met ODB ...

Does this mean a new beginning to their love story? The beginning of the unravelling of the misunderstandings?

  35. Was it me or was it real that I found Bitwa trying to connect what K was saying to their relation? Was it first time Bitwa was admitting that the forcing K for marriage was for him, K saying the verses for Heer ? uhone julum utahe, hum ne saare bhula deye ??
And at last loved the way they changed the color of the BG’s. When K narrates about her, the BG is bright, when she speaks about marriage it’s dull and light focused on her as if to say it was her own bubble which they were confined to. Then the BG changes to Green when poison starts working - to indicate RRR poisoning A with his lies, jealousy, A’s ego and hurt and which makes both K and A die on their wedding day.
Now for the last part of A’s outburst is because of one line from K saying “it’s his happiest day when she dies.” (Again this line took me back to the accident scene from pooja day) Was Bitwa reminded of the same?? Yes again. For him to even think of losing her even in the play is too much for him, that comes out in the way he calls her “Heer” almost as if calling her Khushi when they connect. At that moment she knew it’s not ASR acting as Ranjha who is calling her, it’s her Arnav with who she connects. Loved the way they brought it up with A- saying “open yours and see that I can’t live without you “K answer with a drop of tear from K eyes and A wiping it.
Think today Bitwa did connect the dots of past with present, for all his emotional outburst were towards addressing each of them. And yes Bitwa’s RTRW has started! Will he start using his dimaag in tangent with what his heart says? Or will he need the last blow of K’s confession??
Yesterday I was saying that K has to see the love above hate form A and today she has seen that, now I can accept K’s confession in anger.

Ok this is already too much for me!! Need a break will come back!!
SN: Girls how do you all analyze so much and more so write so much. Hats off to all.

    1. I felt it too ... that when Khushi spoke, Bitwa was connecting her words to their own story ... especially when she says the bit about adorning herself to meet her bridegroom, and he swallows ... he is definitely remembering their own wedding night, and Khushi sitting all decked up waiting for him ... their love story had already started to fall apart by then, because of the poison of the snake ...

Brilliant take on the BG colors ... need to rewatch yesterday's episode again to see that. And yes, Bitwa did start to connect the dots, his words were Arnav's words, not Ranjha's words - he knew nothing about Ranjha, so what he spoke was for Arnav ...

    Unrequited Love!

It is the story of a love story.

A story which began in the royal Sheesh Mahal of Lucknow at AR’s fashion show saw 2 strangers colliding and falling into each other’s arms and lives. A brooding young man in black who was furious with the damsel in green for ruining his red themed fashion show. She was at the wrong place at the wrong time then (or so she thought) and found herself pushed onto the stage to face a hostile jeering crowd. She was caught in a fix and asked her DM for protection only to slip and land in the arms of a dark knight. He was angered and annoyed by her disruption of his smooth running show (life). He felt she had no role to play there.
His presence gave her comfort yet scared her. Her quivering lips and tears took him by surprise striking a chord deep within his being. The beginning of a tempestuous relationship had been laid. From then on he has always been her saviour and support knowingly or unknowingly and she has been his biggest weakness and challenge.

Meet Arnav and Khushi – 2 kindred souls who were destined to meet. Months later they are now Mr. ASR and Mrs. KKGSR but yet to confess their love. Will their love story begin today?

Fate in a weird twist brings them together again in a manner reminiscent of that first day. But today they are no longer strangers. Life partners and almost lovers, they have many shared memories and moments between them. A man who was the cause of her public humiliation all those months ago comes to shield her today.

It is a neighbourly fancy dress competition. Khushi is already on stage, maneuvered by Nani and Nani also manages to get Arnav on stage by talking of his wife’s humiliation in public. Her talk of her own aspirations only evoked an “Oh No, not that excuse Nani” look from Arnav. Arnav has never been one to turn his back on a difficult situation and run away (EXCEPT KHUSHI and his emotions for her). She talks of facing the situation and saving his wife from humiliation. Arnav is far more amenable to reason than force and here the reason being Khushi’s maan, he gives in and in spite of being given the keys to his freedom he chooses to stay and not leave. (And Khushi thinks at that instant that it is liars who flee, the truthful stay back and fight!)

Today Nani reminded him of an important lesson - if his business is important to him, similarly there are other things equally important to the different family members around him. Belittling the importance of these events because he does not set store in them is not correct.

ArHi are enacting Heer Ranjha. Khushi is surprised by the arm supporting her, holding her at the waist. Turning around she is stunned to see Arnav and calls him almost asking him what he is doing there. Ranjha he corrects her and she realizes he is here to rescue the act on Nani’s dictat.
Arnav has just heard the story narration from Nani and Khushi. He has no clue on what to do or say. He tells Khushi to tell him what needs to be done and also take the initiative (the man who needs to be in control voluntarily handed over control to Khushi today. He who had recently ordained that he shall dictate her every action lets her dictate). But even then there is this order to do something fast that he issues – ASR after all! :)) But Khushi is on terra firma with love story.

“Jisko jee jaan se chahte hain Jab use nazron ke saamne paate hain
toh aankhen bolti hain, zubaan nahi”

How true! ArHi have always said the right things with their eyes not their words. The music here is the peppy instrumental tune that used to always play initially when these 2 where in each other’s vicinity apart from RV I think. A skippy tune

“yeh hum jaante hain, yeh aap jaante hain
aise main sawaal wahi karte hain jinhe pyaar kya hai iski hawaa tak nahi”

Khushi telling Arnav that you and I know this. Almost felt like she was replying to Arnav’s
‘Humaari dhadkanein ek ho jaati hain. Jise tum mehsoos karti ho, jise main mehsoos karta hoon”
Arnav seems blank here maybe because emotions and pyaar are still not concepts he comprehends well.

Till here it seemed to be more ArHi than HR. It also evoked very strong memories of Teri Meri. Arnav again steps from the shadows into the spotlight to help Khushi complete her act. Then he asked her whether she wouldn’t complete her last performance, today she asked him to complete what she starts.

But finally today for the first time, when faced with the unknown, they mutually decide to face the situation together trusting the other to support and knowing that they will continue and complete the other’s act.

Finally the HR act commences. The ArHi love story came to a standstill on their wedding day. Will it be granted a new lease of life on HR’s wedding day?

    When Khushi started speaking all I heard in my head was;
“Tere naam se jee loon, tere naam se mar jaaon,
Teri jaan ke sadke main, kuch aisa kar jaaon
Toone kya kar dala, Mar gayi main, mit gayi main
Ho ji Ha ji Ho gayi main
Teri Deewani Deewani, Teri Deewani Deewani”

    Khushi’s monologue:
“Jiski baansuri ki dhun sunke mujhe jawaan hone ka ehsaas hua
A beautiful pun on Shyam here. Lord krishna’s flute charmed the hearts of many. (Photoshoot, Rain Hug, Diwali)

“Jiske sirf ek nazar se mujhe khud ke hone ka ehsaas hua”
Arnav turns to see Heer (or is this Khushi’s dil ki baat?) talking of how she feels alive and is reminded of being a young woman in the eyes of her lover (Walking out of the circle of lights, removing dust from the eyes, falling on rangoli, disentangling lights)

“Jisne mere liye har sitam sahe, Aur jiske liye maine har sitam bhula diya”
Arnav’s eyes have this kashish / longing to have been that man in Khushi’s life. Of being the one who takes away all her pain forgetting his own. Khushi who bore all of Arnav’s atrocities and had even begun to forgive him around Payal’s wedding. Time and again she set aside what he did to her and kept helping La and Anji.

“Jise main bahut waqt tak milti rahi, Aur jisse main bahut waqt tak judaa rahi”
Milna aur judaai makes Arnav think about Khushi’s alternating presence and absence in his life. Some of the key being when she worked for him at AR, then supposedly left for Lucknow, came back to RM to train La, left only to be brought back by Arnav, met regularly till Diwali happened and left once her duty was done, again came back because of Nani and La but was separated due to engagements to another

“Aaj usi ranjhe se meri shaadi hone jaa rahi hai”
There is finality to that dhol sound. Like a death knell. Khushi did not get to marry the Ranjha in her life (so Arnav thinks). Arnav has married Khushi but thinks she is not his Heer but another’s. Wedding day reminds Arnav of how he and Khushi got married. How he forced her, caused her pain.

“Main kehne ko Heer, Lekin dil se Raanjha, Ranjha Ranjha kehte kehte diwaani hui”
Main kehne ko Arnav, magar dil main sirf Khushi. Khushi ka naam lete lete kab uska deewana ho gaya pata hi nahi chala. Arnav who since Khushi’s advent has seen only her whenever he closed his eyes. Throught the narration I kept alternating between Arnav seeing a shadow of himself in Heer and Arnav thinking of Khushi and his relationship

“Lekin aaj main bahut khush hoon”
Arnav who has bound Khushi to him with a forced marriage, who caused her to cry on what should have been a happy day in her life rues her pain which manifests as tears in his eyes

Song I thought of “Jo nahi chadhe kandhe kahar ki, phir bhi dulhan kehlaayi,
Radha Meera ki doli hai Ishq Ishq Yeh Ishq Ishq Yeh Ishq Ishq Yeh Ishq”

“Samajh nahi paa rahi hoon, apne ranjhe ke liye kitna sajoon
Sheesha dekhoon toh bhi tum hi nazar aate ho”
Khushi who never had a chance to get decked up for her wedding. Khushi who got dressed up for the grihapravesh (rueing all her broken dreams) but looking up in the mirror saw Arnav. A bedecked Khushi whom Arnav could only see from far and threw out of his room. And the next day with chulha poojan and her abandonment, all he could think of all the time was Khushi.

"Shaadi ki mithaai; Itni meethi kaise ho sakti hai koi mithaai
Lagta hai hamaare din meethe ho gaye hain, humaari khushiyon ki chasni har cheez main ghul gayi hai"
Arnav recalls those loving days in the run up to Payash wedding. Life indeed seemed to have been filled with the sweetness of love for both of them then. Their happiness tinting all things around with a happy glow.

"Aaj main zeher bhi khaloon toh who bhi meetha lagega"
Arnav and Khushi did end up being poisoned by a MU on their wedding day. But it has not brought sweetness only the bitterness of despair, loss and dreams lost

    2. or was it his regret that caused those tears?

he had envisioned this exact situation when he stuck that bindi on the mirror next to her.. when he bought her bangles.. that she get ready... in his name..

all dreams that were shattered on that terrace..

Khushi walks towards Arnav who asks her to cue him on his entry. She says soon. And asked what will happen next, she informs him the happiest incident for him and the saddest for Ranjha. Arnav is still clueless. Khushi says, I will die.

Arnav is stunned (again a BG like a knell). Arnav who 2 days ago told Khushi she deserves everything that is happening to her but could not see her bruised is stunned into silence about her death. He has already been there when he thought he had lost her. The night he realized he could not live without her. Of how important her presence in his life was to him. It was a wake-up call to him then and today too I think talk of Khushi’s death evoked similar reactions in Arnav. And no it was not Heer because both were speaking as Arhi. Subsequently when she fell down dead, it explains why he got so emotional about losing her.

The poison takes effect and Heer drops dead having called out to her Ranjha for help. Ranjha who was too late to save her. Last time Arnav only imagined Khushi dead, today he actually sees her falling dead and it shakes him. (makes me wonder if last week it was a combined effect of the talk of the deaths of Khsuhi and Di that totally unhinged him making him the maniac he was to Khushi)
    Arnav’s Monolgue:

“Heer, utho heer, ek baar ankhen kholke dekho Heer
Heer main tumhare bina jee nahi sakta
Tumhaare bina Ranjha kuch nahi hai Heer”

My mind heard “Ishq junoon jab had se badh jaaye haste haste aashiq suli chad jaaye
Ishq ka jadoo sar chadhkar bole, khoob lagaalo pehre raste rab khole!
Yehi Ishq ki marzi hai yehi rab ki marzi hai, tere bin jeena kaisa, haan khudgarjee hai”

And a lone tear trickled out of Khushi’s eye. On Holi, when Khushi spoke of how she wanted to forget and could not and fainted in Arnav’s arms, the thought she was under so much stress caused a tear to fall from Arnav’s eyes. Today hearing Ranjha’s dialogues, Khushi sheds a tear – for her broken dream of hoping to mean the same to Arnav as Heer did to Ranjha

Khushi ke aanso ne humeshaa Arnav ko kamjor kiya hai. ASR ke andar chupi Arnav ke dil ko baahar nikaala hai. Today the same thing happens. Khushi’s tears and death are a powerful potion that loosen Arnav’s tongue to reveal his innermost feelings. Arnav who is tongue tied in Khushi’s honest gaze always speaks his heart when her eyes are closed (because he cannot have her discover the truth about how vulnerable he is always hoping that her heart would register his words).

“Heer main tumhe chodkar chala gaya tha
Apne man ko behlaa raha tha ki mujeh koi farak nahi padta
Par tum toh jaanti ho ki main tumhaare bina jee nahi sakta”

The song in mind “Who khusro ho yaa bullesha, har ahaksh jalaa hai khaamkha,
Jisne yeh aag tatoli hai Ishq Ishq Yeh Ishq Ishq Yeh Ishq Ishq Yeh Ishq”

Heers’ eyes remain resolutely closed. She is lost forever

“Jab jo kiya, jab jo kaha, sab bhool jaao, bas waaps aa jao
Aaj kisi aur cheez ka koi matlab nahi hai,
Kisi jhoot ka, kisi sach ka,
Bas ek cheez ka matlab hai,
Agar tum nahi toh main nahi”

At that last line, Khushi’s eyes move behind her lids.

“Tumne hi kaha tha na Heer ki Heer ke bina Ranjha ka koi wajood nahi hai
Agar Heer hi zinda nahi hai, toh Ranjhe ki zindagi ka koi matlab nahi hai”

And Khushi’s eyes move again behind her lids. She is wondering who is talking – Arnav or Ranjha? How is he able to say so many heat felt things? She also breathed a bit here. So I told myself ok, unlike HR, ArHi is not going to have a tragic end. They will live.

“yahaan na sahi shaayad kahin aur ek duniya hogi jahaan tum aur main kabhi alag nahi honge”
And we will have a happily ever after!

    1. death is his phobia... his mothers death has sounded in his ears so many times.. he is absolutely terrified of his dear ones dying.

seeing her fall dead.. is a wakeup call that he did not need. the words just flow out of him.. i am surprised he remembers to call her heer.. i would have used no names at all.

the pain in his voice hits khushi.. her tears flow.. and he brushes it away.. he knows.. he understands.. he loves her. . she is melting into the cradle woven by his words.. rabba ve for her.. and we all heard the end of his sentence.. but he did not say it.

she begs him to say it.. but the moment has passed.

At this point, I realized that Khushi’s narration of Heer Ranjha was just a medium for the entire Arnav Khushi story to be recapped and replayed in Arnav’s mind and making him realize how he would feel if Khushi would no longer be in his life. SO Arnav grabs the moment, the god-given opportunity to pour his heart out to her for he thinks he may never again have a chance like this in this lifetime.

They say a dying man never lies for he has nothing to lose. And Arnav in the guise of a dying Ranjha tells Khushi
“Jab jo bura kaha uska koi matlab nahi hai
Jab jo bura kiya uska koi matlab nahi hai
Iss pyaar main sahi aur galat ka koi matlab nahi hai
Bas ek cheez ka matlab hai ki main hamesha hamesha tumse….”

This last bit almost felt like it was only for her ears. Khushi’s eyes are frantic behind her closed lids. She open her eyes only to find a dead Ranjha beside her. In that moment after hearing what she did, pal bhar ke liye kya use bhi Arnav ko khone ka who dard mehsoos hua? Kya yeh mehsoos hua ki who Arnav ke bina nahi jee sakti? Also made me think of Khushi telling RS, ki dhakanein ek ho gayin hai pata nahi kyun. Magr kyun se kya farak padta hai bas ek ho gayi hain.

Closing their eyes to the past, when they awake next, it is to each other that Arnav and Khushi turn. It is each other that they seek.

Taking a bow, Khushi asks Arnav if he was saying something. See Khushi said that for 2 people who love each other what the eyes say are enough but her eyes were closed throughout Aranav’s monologue so she is not sure. And Arnav for a moment, unable to hear her does not ignore her but chooses to lean in and ask her to repeat. Arnav comes back to reality that Khushi was not dead but just playacting Heer and she would have heard everything.

Back in the dressing room, Arnav notices Khushi’s earring (the 3rd time he has picked up her earring – sangeet, before the HR act and now). The first time Arnav and Khushi got entangled, it was her earring that got stuck on his coat. Recently when he handed back her earring he held it out to her, she chose to take it from him and wear it.

Arnav in person and his reflection in the mirror (mind and heart) have acknowledged Khushi’s importance place in his life. And like on holi, Khushi speaks up / initiates. She says you cannot walk away from me. Arnav turns to face her while swiftly hiding her earring in his hand. But she has already seen it there. Khushi who has during the play realized pretty surely that she has a special place in his life.

And the 4th return of something of Khushi that Arnav picks up happens. But this time it is Khushi, who senses it hidden in Arnav’s palm, reaches out, opens it and makes him give it to her. She chooses to let him know she knows and that she is willing to receive it from him. Arnav did not even have to tell her he had it. She saw his reflection holding it / she read what his heart wanted to tell her.

Arnav does not see her in the eye and she knows that the man who could gaze at her without hesitation after the office fiasco, is hiding something when he does not meet her gaze. She makes him do so on the strength of his own principle he has always told her. Still lying, he turns away and Khushi sure he lies when he says it was Ranjha speaking. She is certain it was him.

And he turns around, faces her and says “Don’t believe in everything you see. I was just acting” Is that why he does not believe in everything he sees her doing now? Is that why he went looking for RS when he saw what happened on the terrace because RS was the main talker there and it was the affirmation by him that made Arnav believe what he saw and made him disregard the need to get the story corroborated from Khushi? Is that why though he has seen her tears, he always tells her and himself he does not believe in them?
It felt like Arnav was also telling himself not to believe it all because Khushi is just acting like she was acting dead on stage. Also today he tells her that he did it all for his family not just his Di (that was a piece of additional info). This means family means a lot to Arnav and why would a man like that antagonize his family with a shotgun wedding – Will Khushi think on these lines

Khushi’s parting retort is to ask Arnav to leave as he always does. She again sets him free like she always has. Will he come back to her?

Song in mind “yeh sabhi mitaade mit jaaye ya sabhi lutaaye lt jaaye
Par na phailaaye jholi hai Ishq Ishq Yeh Ishq Ishq Yeh Ishq Ishq Yeh Ishq”

SN: My wishes from yday for a flute tune in a sad / emotionally powerful moment came true (forgot they already had one). And yeah Nani was the sutradhaar! Khushi whose resolve to fight for her claim on Arnav has been granted a new resolve by Nani’s HR conspiracy.

khushi can see that he is hiding something huge.. but now she lets him free. does not press him for answers.. she is frustrated, but now has some inkling that it is more than his love. so even though she hates not knowing, she is leaving his secret safe.

@ Dia why did yesterday's episode so remind me of MJHT play. was it because both had confession or because the use of dialogues !!

    1. The Mayur confession? Nahin, Aaru, it didn't remind me of that because I was bored stiff during the MN confession - this one was riveting and made sense!

    2. Nahhhhhiiiiiiiiiii Dia, how can you even think of MN confession, but my mistake i should have said Rehershal, Dam I didn't even remember they had a confession in the Play. I was taking about SG in the Rehearsal, where G confess her love and the Dakaan didnt understand. It reminded of that - the flow of lines " use dekh mhuje appna hone ka..." and in MJHT G says "Sab mere galti hai"
and "jab jab tum mhuje bhulaya to laga who naam tumare liye bane hai".
Just reminded me of that intensity and dept of the dialouges. I found the same intensity here.
      Miss those SG days.

    1. Hey HAA,

loved your omnibus! was very well written - how do you do it? i am pretty sure you must have majored in English literate

agreed to everything you said - just one part where i felt differently - Khushi's dialogue about them meeting and staying apart (as Heer) - my take here was slightly different from yours - to me it felt like she was saying (apart from the literal) - 'despite being together we are not together and despite us forcing a separation - we are actually sole mates - we are and will always be there for each other'
      again - well done -

and yes - just like it always happens - my most busy office weeks always coincide with the most happening Arhi weeks!! - don't have the time but steel moments to read through the blog ten times a day!!)
had a busy week - have a busy week and next week too is going to be damned busy - the only consolation is i will be in Meghalaya so hopefully the evenings will be lovely! - only fear - what if i don't have net access - one of two things will happen - either i will not survive the separation from Arhi or be cured of it (after the forced detox - and like all addicts don't want the detox!!!)

    2. Mona, *rofl* your last line made me laugh out loud - good thing I was sitting alone in my room, or mom would have wondered why I was chuckling like a cuckoo at my lappy!

Meghalaya - what fun ... believe it is a beautiful place - have a great time! And yes, hope you have internet ... sach mein, separation from ArHi is too tough to take!!! Planning holidays is becoming an issue these days - I want to carry my lappy with me everywhere and my hubby is not amused!!!

  44. Dia,

Hayyyeeee - LOVED the edited post.

I was jumping up and down to see you mention the earring exchange and the way he has been showing his feelings to her gradually giving her more freedom.

That last bit on him lying to her you know I think he can because like you said he is lying to himself and her. If it was just her he could not lie. He is lying to himself because he needs to tell himself that what he said does not matter that she does nto matter. And yes lying to himself comes naturally - he has had years of practice to make him believe what he needs to believe to keep living life.

  45. Dia, just managed to read ur edited post..the fact that he accepts her as her equal...that she can expect him to listen to her while she speaks....a part of him probably delights in the fact that she equates it with his habit...not liking it when K does not listen to him..that was a nice touch!!

In relationships, i have always believed that the three words 'I love u" or its equivalent are actually very superfluous (yeah countless books and stories will tell u otherwise)....but in a difficult relationship, like K and A, that burning need for each other to hear that they are loved by the other is a almost a given.....i can relate to it.. he insecure about her feelings and she sees him negating with words his every deed of love!!

Na paas aa sake, na door ja sake
Gar pyar inko kheenche, takrar inko roke
Gar pyar inko kheenche, takrar inko roke

    1. Rekha, they are both insecure about love and their need for it, he, because of his abandonment issues and now of course the TF untruths, and she because of her orphan state, her craving for love, for a place to belong ... both need to hear it from the other, both soak up every little gesture from the other, yet are fiercely defensive when it comes to admitting their own feelings, for both it is a sign of weakness and vulnerability - for him more than for her, of course.
