Enjoyed the episode today ... all the parts.
Arnav-Khushi squabble over going to maayka, Nani intervenes, Di intervenes ... Arnav loses. But of course. Nani lets out this was all Khushi's idea - Arnav not pleased.
Liked the little Rabba ve when he puts his finger on her lips ... after Holi, I've been waiting for that one to happen again. And was glad they didn't have the kiss from Khushi - this was much better ... finally awareness on Khushi's part too ... Also glad the RV was instrumental - cv's are definitely listening to us!
So they will go to maayka the next day.
The scene at the Gupta house was damn cute and true to life - a frantic maayka getting ready for first visit of high class damaad, and all worried and heran pareshan over it ... Thank God again the cv's are listening and using ALL the cast ...
Khushi's tearful farewell at her sasuraal, and Arnav's incredulous looks of 'what the ... you're going for two days, not for life' were hilarious ... again the two of them are damn good together, as Arnav cynical one-liners offset Khushi's dramatics beautifully :)) This kind of comedy I like!
But Barun needs to ENUNCIATE still!!!
Mami's farewell advice to Arnav, and Hajmola ... another =)) scene.
Bubbly and Mami ... okay filler. I forget the details ... it was pretty unremarkable, except that I noticed Bubbly wanted soap.
Car ride home ... Khushi babbling away to herself about Arnav's usual "Get Out"s ... her telling him that the light had turned green, Arnav stopping the car ready to tell her to get out, then realizing he couldn't get away with that this time ... thumbs up. Nicely done - again funny and entertaining, and keeping the tempo and the characters in place.
Arrival at Gupta house, the welcome by the neighbours, Happyji has closed his garage so Arnav can park his car there ... so maybe we were right ... Arnav will see slowly over the next few days how warm and generous people without too much money can be ... Dil over Paisa. *Shiddat alert* here ... a neighbour mentions how glad they are Khushi got out of the chungal of the fake fiance, and how he deceived the entire neighbourhood.

Anjali-Shyam - aylo! We thought Khushi might use the soap, HP might use it, Lakshmi might eat it ... never thought of Anjali and Bubbly being the heroes. So will Shyam manage to rescue it in time? Or will Bubbly cut it up for her robot? And I thought the soap got soaked by Anjali's playful hosing, how come it still had the key impression on it when Bubbly found it? Oh well, sanu kee ... as long as another of Shyam's plans becomes a damp squib. Or in this case, a damp soap.
Am travelling back to HK tonight, leave for the airport in an hour ... more comments from me tomorrow. And will try to edit later ;) This episode inspired me after ages to want to write more.

Had planned to edit in detail, but an overnight flight and sleepless night are not very conducive! So just adding here a few additional thoughts ...
On re-watch, why I liked the episode - all the scenes were knit together into the two ongoing parallel themes - Arav Chale Sasuraal, and Snakewa Dhoonde Sabun ... no random scenes like Payash playing Scrabble and flirting in front of ten year old kid or MIL ...
ArHi-Anjali-Nani ... Nani is Khushi's champion as always, Khushi's plan to take Arnav to his sasuraal is crafted out by using Nani's support, and firing over Anjali's emotional shoulder. Manipulation? Yes, of course. Khushi is growing into a woman, and learning that men have big egos, her man's is bigger than most (as he is happy to proclaim time and again), but like most men, once she finds his weak spot, he is fairly easy to manipulate.
Also, Nani never sees bad in Khushi, and now, neither does Anjali ... they are perfectly happy to fall in with her planning. Maybe they also see the gradual softening of their Chotey - after all, Anjali was always Arnav's weak spot, yet nobody had figured out how to use that weakness for Arnav's own benefit ... to help him rejoin the human race, as it were. Khushi uses it unashamedly. He was always aloof, set apart from the family, but now he is forced to join them, take part in almost every occasion, starting from Janamashtami onwards. And as Nani and Anjali see that happening, they rejoice in it, and so are happy to fall in with most of Khushi's plans. Because they probably recognize, unlike Arnav, that she never has any malice behind her planning, even though they don't know the true purpose of this one. Arnav, with his blinkered vision from the terrace scene, doesn't see that yet, but subconsciously he is also probably starting to realise it ... which is why he doesn't give in to Khushi directly, but when Nani and Anjali join forces with her, he caves in pretty soon.
Ego puts up a small fight though - 'we'll go tomorrow, not today.' Or was it just ego? Hopefully Arnav used the time to transport the all-important file to the locker in office or somewhere safe, knowing he would not be in the house the next few days.

Gupta House - hilarious! Buaji (Abhaji) is another damn good actress!!! And Garima was more animated than I've ever seen her before! Buaji praying to Cooler Dev to keep her garam dimaag vala damaad thanda thanda cool cool was hilarious! =)) Garima smiling sweetly and telling Buaji the cooler didn't work was equally funny. Buaji's remark that changing a few chairs around wasn't going to make any difference, for their 6 footer damaad, what they really needed to do was to raise the roof - epic!!!
Khushi's tearful farewells to her sasuraal, and Arnav's incredulous impatience at all the fuss - these two are so good together ... her sentimentality and dramatics played against his cynicism ... 'ok, you're feeling so bad about going, let's not go!'
Arnav-Mami ... after watching Nani Anjali and now Mami in action, I don't wonder at Arnav's tolerance of Khushi's antics. It's not like the other women in his life are all sedate and normal ... they're all equally mad! Mami being the most! Arnav's "okaayyy" seemed to indicate as much.
Btw, the continuation of Mami's "Jaan bachi aur lakhon paaye" is "Laut ke buddhu ghar ko aaye." Now is that apt or not? Time will tell.
ArHi in car ... Buaji still all nervous and questioning Khushi on Arnav's preferences, again very true to life ... Arnav getting all annoyed again, Khushi reading him perfectly, so she put down the phone before Buaji was through, told him he had the rest of the day to get mad at her, but the light was green, so he needed to get a move on ... and then realized her faux pas again, Arnav bitwa does not like to be told what to do, so she just might be in trouble again ... he will throw her out ... he starts to do exactly that, and she actually sweet talks her way into changing his mind ... this time without the help of Anjali. as he realizes the truth of what she's saying - he can't go to Buaji's alone, and he can't go back home. He's stuck. So Khushi stays in the car.
Khushi is learning how to deal with her Laad Governor all right. The toned down Gopi vhau actually works!
And the new version of 'Mausam hai suhana, what the what the what the ...' =))
Mami-Bubbly - on re-watch, the same impression - Bubbly wants soap. And she doesn't find Mami helpful at all.
Setting up for Khushi-Bubbly again? Because Khushi will be the helpful one ... when she comes back from GH, that is.
ArHi arrive at Sasural ... starting to show up the differences between the high class society Arnav now lives in, and the genuine warmth of less well off, but friendly helpful neighbours. We already saw this earlier, when the Raizadas' guests at the munh dikhayi were far more caustic and spiteful about the sudden wedding than the Gupta neighbours were ... now this seems to be getting reinforced. The entire neighborhood comes out in welcome, Happyji has shut his garage for a few days to house Arnav's car ... all organized by Khushi ...
And the plant scene was very sweet ... the music was lovely! Instrumental Rabba Ve with acoustics ... when Khushi went to RM as bride, no one bothered about her comfort, the reverse, in fact. Now as she brings Arnav to her house, every little detail is being looked after, from his food, to his car, to carrying along a plant, so that he feels comfortable. And he stares at her ... she did that for him? Such a little thing ... she knows, his entire family knows he loves his plants, but the gesture showed the thought and the caring, the warm heart of the person thinking of it. Love isn't made up of grand gestures, it's made up of these little things - knowing your partner inside out, and trying to make him/her happy in all these little ways, by showing you think about each and everything that he cares about. Including housing his car too ... womanly gestures, wifely gestures.
Anjali-Shyam ... Anjali seems to be reverting to her childhood in the company of Khushi - looks like Khushi is having an effect on all the members of the R house. And Shyam's precious sabun is under hosepipe attack.
Shyam has one big advantage over Arnav - he can control his temper and think calmly in times of crisis.
But he hasn't bargained for Bubbly and her soap robot.
So will he find the soap in time?

He shaved dunno if it was the cold effect or he got a facial, but he looked really really good today especially at GH.

Maayka, I liked GH after a long time...maybe cos RM may story toh move hui nahin, let us see what happens in GH,lol.
The tone was nice and sweet, no comedy , no OTT.
The finger rabba vey, you know more than him I was looking at Khushi and thankfully, she seemed as affected by it as he was, infact she was the first one to sort of realize it. And after he left, she took a moment to get her together, if this was last week, we would have seen a dhinka chika from Khushi for going to Maayka.
Cautiously saying that we are on our way to get our khushi back.
The plant scene was awwwwwww, so sweet of her and he was touched.
Did you guys note the tagline? It was Arnav orders food from 5 STAR hotel (Now tell me which 5 star hotel home delivers,oh whatever) will the Guptas be able to pay the bill.
Plzzzzzzzzzzzz CVs, let it not be lesson learning on humility for Arnav. He has always been nice to the Gupta family everytime he comes home. This has to be the chance Khushi observes Arnav and him her..
Also plz let it be that he pays the bill and says something like that he wanted to take the family out, but figured babuji might find it difficult and so he ordered the stuff here.

Agree Shweths completely on the lesson on humility part...Arnav has never been shown being mean to the GH folks....so no need to go there....people used to the comforts in life need not necessarily be made to look foolish around less fortunate people....esp if the point is not about that.

Rekha, I think that was shot before he went off on leave. And they restarted on Monday with a nice trim, shave and facial maybe? No wonder bitwa looked good. I think thankfully they dropped the comedy thingy let us see.

So that is okay, no putting them down or something and no lecture on family. He has sacrificed so much for family, he does not need any family lessons.
Rekha I agree with you, the mami scene was a filler (and a funny one) - and she did not mention anything about them being 'classless' - in fact she talked about them being 'over caring' - you know - too much "Khatirdari!" (the fishing line was funny - and very true in our indian context - a lot of families do put lots of oil to make the food look rich - their concept of good mehman nawazi!)

buaji and garima were really cute..wanting to impress the new older son-in-law! Arnav will surely appreciate the efforts!! but how come no one even wonders about Payash?? no one wants to impress Akash? strange!!
i dont think any of Shyam's plots will work now..its all about clearing the big MU i feel!!!
I think while Payash sort of had a proper marriage and all, Khushi's marriage was sudden so kinda okay with this so Arnav gets to know his inlaws more or something.

DeleteAakash had already come home to pick up Payal during pag phere. And he is someone the G's see as approachable.
They are always a bit worried with Arnav since they know he is teh elder son of the R family, the main holder of purse strings and again Payal's jthji and now their bade damaad. In their context, given the bade damaad and P's jethji angles they will accord him more respect compared to Aakash.
Plus like Buaji said on one hand is her sanka devi and on the other a short fused son in law - worry na karen toh kya karen :D

It's a first impression thing I think Anita, they've seen akaash before and also I think that they've always seen Arnav as an important person in their lives I mean indirectly he was always the one to provide their income right? Also akaash is more approachable as a person, one thing I noted, there was no awkwardness about the way the marraige took place which was perhaps needed for a second or two for continuity, and I guess with snakey the soap was Alright because it was. Behind him so he moved it to preserve it?

DeleteAll the best scenes of Arhi have been shot by Arshad only. Arnav's breaking down, Arnav finding about Khushi's engagement, Holi episodes.
My humble guess is LM excels in the family, poojas, sanskaar track. I will give him that.
Even if they bring LM back, let him stay out of ARHI...Let LM direct the miss bubbly family bonding part.
I am not too keen on having LM back, remember the disaster december episodes including desi girl and the dabba rabba vey and later the sorry, If they have to share, Let LM direct everything except Arhi scenes.

Loved the way they showed A and K in their element. Good comedy and excellent direction. Sahana LM might be back!!
In fact I loved the entire scene today. They used all the main characters today. But again the piano/guitar combo of RV was excellent in the plant scene.
Hope what we think is right. This track will help to the human side of the world where Dill is bigger than paisa. Loved how they included even Happyji with his garage. That was the basic need for Bitwa. Now how Bauji and Amma were going crazy with making the house more presentable and Babuji watching them was awesome. These little nuisances actually make the whole thing so beautiful.
Loved how they kept Khushi in her element today and ASR's reaction to situation was bang.
@shwetha with the bill I think it would be - like to just get back at Khushi, He might have paid for it already. Or may be K will get her another piggy bank and pay. Will keep my finger crossed for this one..

for all the fashion experts on the blog - what is wrong with the CVs??? - they have a decided dress code for all women and all they can do is change colours!! anjali used to wear such nice sarees - now its the same saree with the same motifs only in different colours - first it was a florescent yellow (eewwwe eeewww eeewww!!!) with blue motifs - then the same coloured saree with pink motifs and now a navy blue one with yet again the same motifs!!!

Mona....it looks like they have decided to do the same outfit for a character in different colours. And it looks like they do it in other shows also...like Jeevika in EHMMBH used to have the same style of suits in different colours...like KKG used to have the same chamkili-type outfits...all in different colours. I wish we could see more of the Mehendi type suit that KKG wore when ODB kissed her by the poolside...or some variation of outfits.

Today's episode was nice for the Arhi moments , but I just couldn't digest ASR being turned on by a flower pot! Then I decided I'll leave my brains behind in the RM and enjoy the sweet moments. Is K planning on staying back at maika permanently? (The tearful farewell and the bags. Absol. loved Arnav's response there.)Anyway, no need to sweat over that 'coz A will drag her back. On a lighter note, the star performer today was the slippery soap (and I don't mean Shyam), with the flowerpot being a strong contender!

Su, rabba ve is not always symbolism for a woody..it just shows that he or she is affected. with the flowerpot, he was touched that she was caring enough to think of his discomfort in the new house. in fact, if she hated him as she should (considering what he thinks of her) then why did she bring a plant.. that too, especially for him?

Jaya, I agree, in fact, i would say the RV for the flower pot is different from all the other RVs simply becos here it is induced due to their physical proximity, (inducing the RV)so i am glad, the CVs taking it to another level as well..Physical attraction is a big thing and that coupled with genuine moments of realisation will go a long way in cementing their bond..

after the MU, twice(off the top of my head).. once in the coinbox scene when he saved her head, she had a rabba ve. two in the sickbed scene when she rubbed his back... his expression showed that it was her concern that triggered his rabba ve.. not her nearness. okay, three.. when she saw him eat the stolen dabba food.. it was the love in her heart that gave us her rabba ve.. lots of times.. (if only my exams were in IPKKND )

My CCKKP moment - Khushi telling Arnav "Aapne kuch soch kar hi gadi roki hogi" displaying still an innate trust in him though she was slightly fearful, despite him having recently told her he lied to her about his illness.
Another like - The new RV tune variation - gentle like spring breaking with the piano and light drum beats during the plant scene.
ASR is partially back with lesser stubble and a light haircut and parting that makes his whole face look different - more like the ASR somewhere at portion of beginning of the show. I liked!
And Shwetha, yes Barun has a cold and a bad one at that. Looks like all that coughing and sneezing was real after all.

Ditto on both..Gupta scenes were rofl and i noted the tremble too. Both were very good there. We need more such scenes with focus on Khushi now.

your CCKKP - i read it a little differently - not as you say - that she trusts he can handle it - (that she does but did not feel this is what she was referring to here) - felt it was more on the lines of her knowing how to handle him better now - without shouting or getting angry - she just pointed out that he cant go to buajis house (or return home) alone! - so she shows him that this will not work but in the right way - in a way neither are hurt! loved the way she handled him - just like the Khushi we have known and loved!

I also felt that his finger was trembling on her lips ... watched in in HD, and it definitely was. Now whether that was because Arnav was affected, or Barun wasn't well ... kya pata?!
Buaji's comments were hilarious - the prayer to the Cooler Devta and the chhat oonchi karo, shifting furniture around se kuch nahin hoga! My mom always goes hyper checking if the AC and heater is working in our room whenever my husband visits - for me, she's more relaxed, but for hubby, she gets all tense - so I found that very relatable!

SPOILERs from Mishti...Barun indeed was sick and was off for 3 days and resumed shooting since Monday only. We will be seeing Arnav settling down in middle class environment (extremely worried now) and bubbly will bring Arhi closer.

And now I know why on Mon when Khushi was coming to the room with TF in it they showed scenes of her walking so many times. And they keep showing car scenes, gear changing scenes to fill in those 20 30 odd seconds.

As for the haircut, the main difference was the side part - I have always like ASR with teh side part than that front spiky gel look - side part with or without gel anything looks ok - looks mature on him and does not make him look old. I hope they just maintain this amount of stubble on the guy from now on.
Well bitwa ya ASR dekhte hain - high time both made peace with each other and became one :P

I am really keeping my fingers crossed for him to see Khushi in an environ he has never seen her in. That one time when he saw her happy for her sis, it had made an impact on him. But he has never seen her interact much with her parents, neighbours or buaji. Plus he knows she was adopted by this family. Also, there would have been a time when he would have had to live in similar conditions when he was climbing up? Can we see some more FBs about why he has this class bias - maybe his experiences at that time were unpleasant.
It was in the very same GH that Khushi asked him why he was so cynical and he had spoken of a stone hearted world. Can we hope for Khushi to get a glimpse into that part of his past?

DeleteLM ho ya Arshad finally I think the screenplay writers are also responsible for scripting the scene. Ok director's view also matters. I think both have had their highs and lows and yes if scene hi thoda cheesy hai toh comedy toh aayegi hi na.
Guess 2 directors are coming in with Maha Epi coming up and maybe parallel shooting b/w GH set and RM set. They did that during NYE too when folks were about to go on leave.

I hope it turns that GH folks will not allow him to pay the bill and it becomes a moment of introspection for A regarding GH values.
I am also hoping that A eavesdrops into Garima-Khushi conversation (remember, when she said that its only important that jeevan saathi accha hona chahiye...and hears K bragging about A) A has another eureka moment....to the extent this girl will go to hide the state of affairs from her loved ones for their happiness...
but then he knows that.. remember desi girl? that drama was for her jeeji ..

So I couldn't connect with him being touched by this one gesture esp after being rude about the hypo and the perfume + lipstick. Second time around, I was prepared for it and enjoyed it. Also realised that ASR has really mellowed down for her maayka. Loved the way they took the extra shot of the car getting parked.Gave me the feeling he will be made to feel at home there. (After all, he has only happy memories at the GH.)I wish they showed the same continuity in the other scenes as well. Maybe things are improving.

I have a theory about it becos i never really understood Anjali's advice to Khushi the other day..To me, it seems that tho khushi will do things to irritate, her love for A will also shine thru...

You know that Anji's advice was becasue she only sees the fighting Khushi never realizing that it is this very spirit of hers that is a major pull for Arnav. I mean that day at mehendi when he came back he was so happy to see her all worked up and she was yelling at him initially but did ODB mind - Nah and he was actually irritated that his Di became KMH :)
It basically comes down to this - Anjali's looks at all relationships thru her perception of that person. She judged Khushi's love jataana basis how she loves her brother. She judged Arnav's reason for telling a lie basis what he would do for her. But the same people react differently with 2 individuals whom they may love equally. That lecture of Anji's was more to tell Khushi that you need to stop fighting with him and start working on the relationship - bcso she has not seen very demostrative side of Khushi vis a vis Arnav - maybe that is why that day at havan when they were judging Khushi's reactions to Arnav it was more blink and miss whereas Anji has seen Arnav get her bangles, worry for her etc. To her it is enormous bcos knowing her bro it was a huge step for him. But though she thinks she knows Khushi she is not aware of so many things about Khushi and how much she is exerting herself for Arnav and her concern for him.

so yes - despite her '100 ways to get back at ODB' - her love and concern will def. shine through.
as for Anji's advice - i think the purpose of this was to tell her sil that she should not expect her husband to be demonstrative of his feelings - so not be sad and disheartened as ASR was capable of loving someone but not comfortable with PDA - hence she said - if you want him to demonstrate - read him better - no direct pda is every coming out of odb!! but he will be doing things indirectly (like joining her on stage for the HR act! / like saying he had not fainted to save her the anguish of causing her a restless night!) - so what i basically want to say is that Anjali is not saying ODB does not like the attention from his love - he is not likely to blatantly accept it.

DeleteI get what u say...This relationship thing is very layered...and obviously that's how any close lover and sibling relation will be. Arnav had better not react to Khushi in a way he reacts to Anjali in some specific situations..I would say let him feel bit stifled if Anjali pampers but he is bound to feel elated if Khushi pampers him..hain na? the mehndi scene for example.
Sandy, I don't know if i heard it wrong, I thot Anjali said to Khushi, Arnav feels upset if u show emotion....in way so don't show emotion...Isn't that the reason, Khushi is doing the opposite?Showing emotion so that he gets upset...
Me too was confused as to what exactly Anjali wanted to tell Khushi ... if it was to warn her that Arnav is not a demonstrative person, fair enough, but her tale of the balloon seemed to indicate that Arnav doesn't appreciate PDA. Which is actually incorrect - he does, from Khushi. The thing is, Arnav is sure of Anjali's love fo him - of that he has no doubt. His fear is of Anjali's leaving him - through death, through anger, whatever ... death like the mother, anger or affair, like the father maybe - they haven't touched on that yet ...
DeleteWith Khushi, the whole doubt and insecurity is whether Khushi loves him at all. And with Snakewa's antics, even more so. In that case, Anjali telling Khushi that Arnav doesn't like PDA is wrong ... he wants proof of Khushi's love all the time.
And Khushi started off on the wrong foot with the Gopi vhau act, and made him think again that her love was an act ... but now with the toned down act, both are getting confused! Because she doesn't find it difficult to show her care and concern, she loves him, after all. And in between the acting, the genuine care and love keeps peeping through ... which confuses him.
On Arnav's end - he starts off thinking it's all an act, part of the Swami act ... initially he was getting angry, then he played that faking the hypoglycemia stunt, because he found her getting genuinely worried, Anjali Di showed him the mirror to his feelings, that he can't really bear to hurt her, and he backed off ... so he's not hurting her any more, he's tolerating what he thinks is her act. Which is confusing her ... she's doing it to irritate him, and he's being surprisingly tolerant. And of course, adding to the confusion, is his confusion every time her care seems genuine.
And now I am sounding totally confused ... :)))

She has neevr seen bitwa when he was HOH in love with Khushiji - he liked her selecting the saree he chose, he liked her wearing that bindi he left behind in the mirror, her bringing him warm water when he lost his voice. Just bcos woh di ke overt love se bhaagta hai jaroori nahi ki Khushi ke overt love se bhi bhaage - and I guess it is because of the difference - Di ka pyaar Ma ke pyaar jaisa hai - sometimes smothering and overwhelming plus the dutybound feeling; whereas with khushi it is always about give and take of affection and her love displays care without overwhelming him or usurping his space.
You know when I wrote about Anjali's self righteousness - meri badi wish thi to see how would Arnav react if the one truth / constant of his life his Di, their relationship, his trust in her was shaken - I had then wondered in teh context of what if she knew shyam's truth and hid it from Arnav to protect him from pain. And I still wish they would do that - ofc thats painting anji very dark gray and dia tells me this will not go well with the poojs paath audience.

Anji spoke of chote ko pyaar ka ehsaas bhi toh hona chaahiye but somewhere I think she wanted to see and feel Khushi's concern fro her brother, wanted to be assured that Khushi loves him as much as Anji knows he loves her.
