30/4 - 241 ... Trying to Forget

Monday 30th April

I was moaning over the weekend about Arnav having forgotten that he was supposed to have conflicting emotions for his wife, and seems the cv's heard me. So Bitwa is presented with a stark reminder that he's supposed to hate his wife, not love her ... and he goes ballistic ... but not quite. The big difference - he can't quite bring himself to be as cruel and vicious as he used to be ... he can't even talk to her ... so he tells her to stay out of his way, or else he will ... will what? What's stopping him from lashing out at her as he did earlier?

Maybe the fact that he thought she hid his file, only to realize almost immediately that she didn't, maybe the memory that he accused her of stealing his car parts, only to realize that she didn't ... maybe the slow, subconscious realization dawning that he has misjudged her on previous occasions, could this possibly be another one .. even though the evidence is so damning? For once, it seems he doesn't want to believe his eyes, wants to forget that damning piece of paper, wants to forget that terrace scene ... and while he tries desperately to forget, he doesn't want to see Khushi either, because he doesn't want to say anything he might regret.

Again saw a huge resemblance between Buaji and Khushi, the way they both try to cheerfully sweet-talk the obnoxious in-laws and pretend there is nothing wrong. Obnoxious in-laws were exactly that - obnoxious.

Liked Khushi in the kitchen, trying her best to keep her tears and upset at bay ... and wondering what exactly she had done to drive Arnav into such a rage so suddenly ...

Needed some more continuity and clearer dialogues between Arnav and Aman - need to re-watch, because it wasn't very clear till the end what Arnav was trying to do ... was he trying to confirm that the dulha was his employee before he fired him?

All in all, a fairly decent episode, the cv's remembered they have a story and our leads are in the middle of a big MU.

*edited*
(today is a holiday here, so will edit in bits as I get the time)
Arnav's remembers Khushi's friends saying she's remembering her wedding and his fb's of the reality... regret, guilt, sorrow for what could have been ...
then Buaji comes in with his file, and Arnav tries to forget the memories and Khushi and gets busy in work ... (rather abrupt changeover) ... and remembers he had another file ... starts looking for it, remembers Khushi's words and jumps to completely erroneous conclusion that Khushi has hidden it ... so fragile still is the level of trust between them ... starts turning things upside down to find where she could have hidden it, and then discovers that she hadn't after all. And a flicker of regret that he misjudged her yet again ... sees the wrapping paper poking out of a drawer, and probably in an attempt to right the mess he created in his unjustified annoyance, he starts to replace it properly. And realizes that it's a used paper, been folded and kept carefully for re-use ...
(A very realistic touch - I used to keep old wrapping papers for re-use for ages, now I keep gift bags for re-use ... my contribution to recycling and saving the environment.)

And he smiles at the pagalpan of his biwi (I often wonder did Arnav actually go through tough times after being thrown out of his home, or is his bitterness more about betrayal alone) ... and makes to replace it ... till he sees the card ... 'Dear Khushiji, with love from Shyam' ... and suddenly remembers what he's been in danger of forgetting the last few days while he was falling in love with his wife all over again ... She's a cheat, she betrayed him, she's in love with Shyam, not with him ...

Prretika's baraat arrives, complete with obnoxious in-laws, who lose no time in making comments about the small hall, the crowd, the juice in steel glasses ...
Buaji and Garima try to smooth things over, inlaws are not appeased, Khushi tries to do the same in her usual friendly chirpy manner, again to no avail ... and is told to keep quiet by BG, because her attempts are not working. More obnoxious inlaw comments ... more smoothing over by Buaji ...

Arnav back in his own private hell ... trying to forget that he loves a girl who loves another man ... Khushi comes to call him ... and reminds him again of the worst moment of his life ... when he saw Shyam hugging her on the terrace ...
She's worried at his silence, maybe sensing something wrong already, even without seeing his face ... 'Kya hua? Aap thik toh hain?'
And when he turns around to face her, the rage in his eyes is back, and she sees it immediately and her voice falters ... a much softer, uncertain, almost scared 'Kya hua? Batayie na?'
(Again, one of things I love best about Sanaya - her voice modulation ... the sudden change in tone)

Maybe he would have burst out at her again ... but sounds indicate the arrival of the baraat ... and he reins back his anger ...
'Why are you so angry?' ... and then remembering the last time she saw him, the scene with her friends questioning her about their marriage, the half-truths she told ... is he angry because of what she said? 'It's because of what my friends ...'
He doesn't want to get angry, to lose his temper, not now, with the baraat at the door outside ... maybe he also needs some time to think ... he misjudged her twice over recently ... did he misjudge her again ... but his temper is too hot to allow him to think clearly, the memories brought on by that piece of card are too sharp ... and for the first time, Arnav shows signs of actually controlling his anger, by pushing her out ... he will not talk to her right now, he wants to be left alone ... the memories are too piercing, he knows he will lash out again ...
She persists, confused again at the sudden change of mood, the sudden rage, what is the reason ... 'Why are you so angry with me? It was them who started the talk ...'
'Leave me alone ... before I do something ...' unspoken - something that I might regret later ... almost pushing her out savagely ...
'Tell me why ... first ...'
'Because I ...'
Would he have told her if Garima hadn't come in just then? Truly, Arnav needs to be pushed to the edge before he will spill the truth ... Khushi has been right in that all along ...
Garima's entry means they have to stop ... to silence what they might have said, to push the emotions underground again ... because other things are more important and more pressing ... Khushi leaves, Arnav says he has too much work to join, again accepted uncomplainingly by Garima ...

More complaints from inlaws ... why hasn't the damaad come out to meet them, the hall is too warm, the ice cream has melted ... Khushi again tries to smooth things down, not realising her words add to their annoyance, they dont want to be reasonable and understanding, they want to be pampered and their whims pandered to - after all, they are the ladke vaalas. their nephew is a big man compared to the mohalla vaalas.
I dislike in-laws like this intensely - unfortunately they still exist - people who think that just because they're the ladkevaalas, it gives them carte blanche to say and do what they please and insult the girl's family without anyone saying anything. And I dislike that the girl's people are supposed to accept this rude behaviour uncomplainingly.

Khushi in the kitchen, worried about Arnav's sudden anger ... Buaji tried to call Arnav, he refused her too, Khushi tries to pacify Buaji that he has a lot of work (thank God, I was afraid cv's would make her irritate him again, but fortunately we got the more serious Khushi I like) ... Buaji suspicious if Khushi did anything to make him angry again ... what can Khushi tell her? When she herself doesn't know what happened to change his mood so suddenly, and he, as usual, refuses to tell her ...
Loved the little Buaji-Khushi scene, Khushi so disturbed and upset, and as always, she has no one she can share her upset with ...

Nandini and Buaji go to get the groom's sherwani from Khushi's room ... Arnav, in his anger is getting ready to leave GH pronto ... and witnesses firsthand the rudeness and demands of the obnoxious inlaws ... loved his slowly changing expressions here, as his anger with Khushi fades to an awareness of what's happening in the rest of the world ... and is replaced by an anger of another sort entirely ... Buaji's attempts to smooth over the food remarks were uncannily similar to Khushi's attempts ...
And Arnav decides to investigate - steps out and sees the groom's face ... and steps back inside to make his checks (now why couldn't he do the same with Shyam?) ... obnoxious inlaws make more comments on melted icecream, and Arnav steps out just in time to shut up Khushi before her attempts make matters worse ...

I sympathized with Khushi's attempts to soothe the inlaws although they were misplaced - I have  a very hot temper and low tolerance with boys' people who try to act superior to the girl's people ...
But as Arnav says - she can't handle everything herself ... they needed to be handled Mami style, with quiet authority and show of power ... not with friendly reasoning ...

And he appeases the inlaws temporarily by quietening Khushi while his ever-faithful Aman gets to work ...
Noticed that he introduced himself as 'Arnav' ... not with full name ...
And he catches a glimpse of the waiting worried bride just as Aman calls with confirmation ... a reminder of his sister? Or of a more recent bride?

Khushi confront shim again in the privacy of their room ... why did he shut her up ... why is he siding with the ladkevalas, allowing them to get away with their rudeness ... but he still doesn't want to talk to her, to see her face ... he's still trying to forget ... both the terrace scene and the card which brought it back so suddenly ... he'll do everything that is necessary to save the marriage, but he can't still stand to see her face and the memories it brings back ...

And then the boy receives the message ... and Arnav goes to reinforce it ... I need people with the drive and the capability to work hard, and those who have the courage and confidence to state their point.
All the things he likes in Khushi too ... especially the last ... even though she gives him the hardest time with it ...
The drive and capability to work hard ... isn't that what he's seen Khushi do over the last few days too, the reason he keeps telling her to slow down, she can't do everything, she can't handle everything ... because she always wants to help out everyone ... even if it's beyond her own capabilities ...

And the last ... learn to respect your wife and her family ... he has followed the latter half in spades in this visit ... has given the utmost respect to Khushi's family after the first day, not just respect, has learned to give them affection also, a return of the affection he has received in bucketloads ...
although he still doesn't give Khushi respect in public ... there he needs to follow his own advice ...

And precap - so another potential MU will clear very quickly and Khushi will learn that he went out of his way to save Preeto's marriage ...
Making her see Arnav more clearly? And also wonder why he seems to do everything for everyone ... except for her.

  3. moderate screenplay and dialogues are enough for SaRun to make it good no matter how limited time is ......seriously IPK team value them, get a grip!

When I saw the the Dulha I was like 'pointer for BBE' .....lol but he did turn out to be working for AR ......some consistency in extras shown at last

ASR at rescue ..... More for Khushi to ponder why the ruthlessness reserved for her

Good thing climax is really nearing today he almost blurted out Creeps name .... Previously he never intended to

  4. Jaya, was remembering u while watching the epi online. It was a field day for pointing out illogical scenes...i am sure u wl have the list ready

However, glad to see the ASR, he was MIA for a while,(though the logic was convoluted in the ASR_dulha interaction)
Another thing, since i was watching online, i did not understand how did A see the wrapper...rather why did he see it...seemed a very forced scene..
His anger and his intention to leave GH tho seemed in sync with his mood....

  5. Nopes Rekha finding wraper scene dint look forced at all, he was searching for his files that how he got it .....but yes Q remains .....what was it still doing there? Khushi dint clean her desk why???

We asked for Bitwa to find out things choosed/presented by him and we get a stupid wraper from Creep *head desk*
but everything has its good side .....he almost blurted out his name ....yay

  6. Sama, Ok since i see it online first, some scenes get truncated...so i was confused....i also meant, very unlike ASR to look at wrapping paper...i can understand if it was right in front of him and he sees it...but kind of stupid to open the wrapper and see.....that was un ASR like...
BUT i agree, they couldn't think of better way to jolt Arnav out of his reverie in that limited time
Your Question is valid tho....as u say....all for gud*happy dance*

  7. Oh and I liked the brief scene they showed of Arnav looking at the brides tensed face ......he has seen his sisters humilation(what was it we don't know) he had been the reason behind payals .....1 his world, another he considers family .....he will never let anyone else go through it not in his presence...... I wonder whether he will be able let go Khushi after six months even if he thinks he does not deserve her and is burning with guilt..... He din't have a single FB of terrace untill he saw the Shyaam written on the wraper

  8. Rekha drawer was already half open and wraper was on top he took it as just to look at another chamkili thing of his pagal biwi and was about to keep it back exactly saying the word 'pagal' when the word shyaam hit him

  11. Wrapper scene, i see it now, in a new light and so it makes sense..
About why it is still there, its a common enuf practice when u get a gift to not throw away the wrapper immediately....in fact....in a realistic way, we end up putting it away, maybe to dispose later....so that was understandable

Today, his anger was not about Anjali, it was evident thru his actions, it was very much for himself....i can't really pin point why it feels that way but somehow every time, he told her not to show her face, he seemed to be telling himself, i can't become weak and she is my biggest weakness!! like he was losing the battle...

  12. Sorry again for spamming...when did TF give ODG a gift? i have a faint recollection but not sure...even if not its understood he gave it sometime in his"courtship" (dettol rinse) period....

If they have shown the gift scene before, i must comment CVs on continuity,

    5. "pagal" had saved the chamkili wrapping paper( aww...) but i dont think khushi would save it.. must be payal or buaji who saved the wrapper, thinking it would be important to khushi.. but anyway, as youo said, glad that it moved the story forward.

    6. Yeah Jaya, when i saw that "pagal" scene, i wanted to say...u cutie, u love the craziest things about her, why can't u guys just lock yourselves up, give each other a gud shout and iron out all the creases and follow it up with u-guys-know-what!! *MIG*

    2. Jaya Ayesha,

i know was thinking the same thing - would have been romantic but then the story would have remained in the same whirlpool, moving in circles without moving forward - so am glad of this - however - still want ODB to see the bangles etc kept safely by ODG at some point!

    3. Yes yes, i want to see other keepsakes kept by ODB also, I know he gave back payal, threw the motis, didn't he? but there must be something, broken bangle, torn kameez (NYE)...
ODG's bangles must be back in RM na?? Buaji packed off all her stuff... woman only forgot to tear the wrapper!!
That chai scene, will it happen or we have to virtual dharna??

plus we still have 4 week days for Odb to see his gifts and chai under the stars shiddat to be realized...

however MS and sindoor scene in front of all seems impossible after wrapper dhamaka...

  15. Why was ODG not only wearing the ridiculous half buffoon - but it also had something equally ridiculous hanging from it!! And what the hell was she cooking when the guests were all in???

OK - apart from these two points - i really liked the episode!!! IPK - as i have always said - is an addiction coz -1- the story and -2- the characters! And today after a very very long time both our leads were in character! Loved it

    - loved how ODB jumped to the conclusion that ODG must have taken the file - and immediately realized his mistake - even smiled at her? At himself?

    - loved how he recognized his employee but he is ASR - cant be expected to know all his workers - so confirms with Aman and takes the show forward

    - ODB needed the jolt to pull him out of his 'complete oblivion to everything but his wife – her eyes/smile/'ek kha loonga’ type of puppy eyed adulation – he needed to be reminded, he had not come here to fall in love with her all over again – and the wrapping paper did it (let’s not even question if there was a wrapping paper to begin with or why it was in her drawer!)

    - found it interesting that he talked of respecting ‘one’s wife’ in a sec after the scene with KKG – goes to show that ASR would have normally done that but with KKG – he thinks of her as a cheat and hence his reactions are diff!

    - loved ODG was in full form – had a smiling answer to every obnoxious comment by the OIL (obnoxious in-laws!)

    - loved how she noted in his slightest tilt of his head that he was upset about something and how – completely in character – she tried to sort out the problem by taking the bulls by its horns and talking about her friends comments ( comments she thought had upset HDB)

In short – loved it coz the story seems to be moving forward – with KKG finding out that ASR helped with the wedding – there is bound to be some development!

    1. oh and was going to add - good job by CVs to show the groom move out of the room before ASR came in but then remembered that the groom should have recognized KKG!! - well lats say he was not from the branch she worked at/visited :)

    2. mona, today's episode was good, it flowed well.. so i was not distracted enough to catch any glaring bloopers... and you found 'em!!

ODG's answers to the OIL(good one!) were irritating enough to break the rishta, as it were. i agree with sandy, good thing hat he stepped up.. it did not look as if the ladies (or the absent gents!) in the family were going to say anything to khushi.

he was saving the izzat of gupta house, as it were.. that flash of anger in his eyes when the mamaji asked him to control his wife.. hayee..

      Delete
    3. yes Jaya - loved that our ODG & ODB were behaving just as they are supposed to - enjoyed it
and i agree, KKG in all her innocence feels that smiles can solve the biggest problems - but sometimes more practical (and drastic solutions) are required - remember when ASR had to convince mami for Akash's wedding - ODG was all filmy and kiddish and ODB was all ASR! - aawww they are so perfect for each other - so alike in their passion to fight till the end, to win, to help their families and only different in the approach to it :D

  16. Arnav just saw the wrapper and drew his own conclusions, much like jumping into conclusions based on the terrace scene. At least the guy is consistent in quickly jumping into wrong conclusions based on prior triggers right from the start of the show when she fell into his arms and he concluded she was out to ruin his fashion show. More recently, he spots her with Shyam and thinks she was secretly having a good time with him. Khushi gets him to bathe in the public. He later finds his car's tires/seat missing and concludes she was behind. Today he couldn't find his file. He immediately thinks that Khushi has hid it because she threatened to do so earlier. Like all the previous times he realises he is wrong again and he himself has left it in his bag. Yet did he ever learn a lesson from his past experiences with her? Apparently not.

Coming to the wrapper itself, which like Shyam himself, was shiny and attractive from the outside but was empty within. Aprt from the symbolism of the wrapper, I thought it added a middle class touch to the scene. My mom-in-law preserves all gift wrappers so that she can recycle them by using them to gift wrap something. So I guess, Garima or Buaji may have kept the wrapper, thinking it will come in handy form wrapping some gift. They may not have noticed that it still had the tag on it. Since it was sticking out the drawer, may be it has recently been pulled out to be used later for gift wrapping something, considering the wedding atmosphere.

It was good to see Arnav reign in his temper in front of his in-laws. He really respects them and took care that they do not air their dirty linen in front of the guests by insisting that Khushi leaves him alone and not test his patience.

Khushi does need to learn some tact and patience. Like it or not she has fallen for a hot headed temperamental guy. Its no use provoking him when he is at his worst. She can push for her answers when they are alone and his anger has had time to cool down. But no. She needs her answers then and there. This when she herself is not always forthcoming when he questions her. Like Arnav she too finds it hard to trust him. His past acts of arrogance always cloud her judgement and she too is quick to jump into wrong conclusions.

Seems like these two have a long way to go before they are ready to accept each other unconditionally. Both need to learn patience and exhibit a sense of willingness to trust the other, although it is going to be mighty difficult considering their past baggage. No relationship can last without faith and trust. Lets see when they will get there.

    3. well, khushi does need to learn some tact.. not only when dealing with her husband(where i can assume she was doing it intentionally to irritate him..) but also when dealing with others.. somehow I got the feeling that she has become so used to saying ulta jawaab to rude people (practicing on ODB of course), that now it has become second nature for her to give smart alec answers..

imagine someone saying the icecream melted because of your gussa.. to the guests. being nineteen does not excuse such behaviour. she is a mature character..The Khushi of old would know that it will affect pritika's rishta.

it was a good thing that arnav stepped in. but I feel it was not good to degrade khushi's character, only to show arnav in a good light.

  17. Hi Dia,
I hope the weekend panic attack has passed. I went thru a similar PA about 2 weeks back. Out of nowhere I got this idea that San must have got an offer and might leave the show soon. Or they might abandon the show half way thru. And today when I saw the blog I realized my worst fears might come true. I am not hitting the panic button again, I feel BS is quite level headed and will honour his commitment. Not yet watched tonite’s epi, waiting 4 11:30 show. You and Opti had a good discussion on Sat regarding Arnav’s character getting lost. Which set me thinking and here is a half baked analysis on a half baked character (because my bheja is fully pakaofied).
THE CURIOUS CASE OF ARNAV SINGH RAIZADA
CHAPTER 1: Why is ASR not using his brains?
We all know it is the strong impact the terrace scene had on him. After all, he is a practical man and what he has seen and heard cannot be denied. If we as viewers had been unaware of Shyam’s presence in K’s life and had been suddenly exposed to only this snippet, what would we think?:
How can she be so two-faced? And she has to do things in her own screwed up so-called ‘right way’, so she is asking him to leave his wife. She is pulling the strings and pressurising him so that nobody will blame her, after all she’ll be marrying a divorced man. And to top it all, she has managed to keep the relationship under wraps in spite of spending most of her time in Shantivan. Imagine how smart she is!!! Of course we know our K better than ASR or her adop parents or even Khushi herself(and most definitely better than the CVs, of late).
But what is ASR’s working knowledge on Khushi??

His very first impression was: I know girls like you, you are out to trap any rich guy available. (she tried to trap shyam, b’coz she thought the scene with ASR may not work out.)
Of course down the months he softened towards her, what with her helping out La adjust and all that, but in the light of the terrace scene, what if it had all been only a ploy to get closer to him? If she is so righteous, she shouldn’t have reacted to his advances while he was still attached to La.(the‘how could you’ look when La kissed him, Hosp hug scene etc.etc.,) Fair demand from a man, all right. Goes without saying that he is justified in harbouring feelings for her while engaged to someone else. He couldn’t help it, he fell in love with a scheming temptress! Ouch!!.
On the other hand if he looks at her other relationships, he knows KKG is not selfish.
There are many good facets to her distorted personality. Family comes first and foremost to her. She does not have to prove that. In fact, the main reason for going after a rich guy may be to provide for her family. The ends are justified, the means are definitely not. And when it involves toying with his feelings and wreaking havoc in his di’s life, she’s had it!!!
So the lasting impression, after the terrace scene is the same as the first impression, which acc to ASR now is the right impression.

    1. Su...i feel that since the very begining ASR is actually trying to convince himself not to fall for khushi...he once said to his DI "i will run away from the girl without whom i cant live - something like that" his reaction on Diwali was exactly that...she is a gold digger , i know ur type girls etc. are things he is saying to himself and try to hate khushi...however deep inside feelings are growing ever since the first meeting....even post marriage his feelings are showm many times specially during GH stay...he has to remind himself of her supposed relationship with shyam to hate her...
and i think this "family comes first and put on smile and hide tears for others" nature of khushi is being seen as "how well she can act" but again by ASR to convince himself to hate her , deep buried Arnav continue to feel this attraction/love for her ...more strongly after every interaction.. Arnav's feelings peep out of the ASR shell at times through the holes made by ODG( like during HR act)...again he has to forcefully stop him....

  18. contd.
CHAPTER 2:So then, why is he still attracted to her?- a lesson from M&B
The answer is not very difficult. Me thinks it is the same 4 all M&B heroes. It is the fatal physical attraction. Don’t know if men in real life think like this.(IMO men never think.)
Right from the time she dropped into his arms out of nowhere, ASR knows he was attracted to her. As much as he tried, he could never erase that memory. That was when he didn’t even know her. Why? In ASR’s world, there is nothing called love at first sight, so he has named it as attraction. And it has been there in a good measure for him through the calendar shoot (btw, did that calendar ever come out?), those countless times she fainted and ….do I need to elaborate? He knows feelings are there, but just as he was giving into those feelings, the betrayal happened. Actually things happened pretty fast for poor ASR. From the Ambulance moment to the betrayal scene there is only a gap of 2 or 3 days. In this short span he fell in love, his Di had a near death experience, he learned his jijaji Is having an affair and the true colours of the only girl he ever trusted was revealed . The feelings are there still, he just chooses to ignore them. But it spills over on occasions like the holi, H.R, GH stay. If he acknowledges those feelings, he fears he will be a slave to her. The attraction, he cannot deny, and he prob must be/ is kicking himself for it. Annd he is going to fight it.
OK. I really don’t know if Gul & Nissar want their hero to think like this, this is the only explanation I can think as of now.
But the Will…What was that? That was pure carelessness on their part. Can’t blame them. Wouldn’t have given it much thought if not for the thorough law lessons in R&R.

    1. Su,

      *Rofl*"IMO, men never think"....

To add to what u have said above, K is a walking challenge, no one has ever done that with him before, she has questioned his beliefs, stood up to him, goaded him.....yes, he took a while to admit to himself but the attraction has been a deeply entrenched one ..which is why i can accept that he loves her despite everything....
If this love was built over only a few epis...i would question his love for Khushi after the terrace episode. The very fact that this love took a long time to take seat,it did in such a way that, it is diffi to dislodge it.
Boy hates girl, loves girl stories are really a dime a dozen...frankly after a point, one even forgets that any couple hated each other for any reason...or for that they love each other for a reason....BUT IPK is different for this very reason....The differences are so many yet there is a magnetic pull...circumstances adding to the allure of this story....and the mysterious past has not even made its presence felt.....

Gul owes to us fans to take this story to its logical conclusion....and i know i sound selfish saying this, even the actors do!!

  19. In that case there is a whole brigade of "selfish" fans awaiting a logical conclusion (if that is at all possible in this world of fiction) ;-) - hold on, let's talk of progression first. For all our collective whingeing, hopefully the GH stay will jalaofy the warring couple's dimagh ki battiyan and who knows........unlikely we will get our sharing chai under the starry skies shiddat just yet........sigh.............

Other than the fatal physical attraction, she is the only one who has openly challenged him and told him to his face that he is wrong....it is a trait in Khushi that even Lavanya admired and wished she could cultivate..........ASR always looked for a reaction, a challenge and KKG gave it to him as good as she got....of course, not good enuf to challenge or snuff his ego, but enuf to rile it up to an enjoyable level.

  20. Girls,

I loved the epi!! Kitna kuch tha baaton batton main. Aiyyooo!! Not fair - jab meri band bajen ki hoti hai toh aise dhaasu epis kyun aate hain...!!!!

Things on the top of my mind:

    1. Arnav telling Khushi after she cares fofr him thru the night "Tum jaanti hi kitna ho mujhe? Aur waise bhi kisi ko kitna bhi waqt jaan lo, kabhi kabhi uske baare main oori tarah se pata nahi chalta. After all I am Arnav Singh Raizada" - Layer upon layer, facet upkn facet of the man have been unravlled for Khushi.

    2. Arnav telling the dulha: I look for 3 things in my employees:
Passion / Wish to do work
    Capability to do good work
The confience to say what is in your mind without any hesitation or fear

Thereby underlining what it was about Khushi that drew him to her like a moth! La telling Khushi "aakhir tum hi ho na jo ASR se woh bhi keh sakto ho jo woh sunna nahi chaahathe!"

    3. Khushi chup raho. He shouted at her in public. Shocked are you? Well was what she was doing heloing or actually making matters worse? Worse is it not.
Does not Arnav have experience in a sharp tongued mami at home who likes to find shortcoming in every action. Does he not know that handling such people has to be a high handed manner and not subtle / logical reasoning. Plus with Khushi going the way she was, the marriage could have broken. And that he could have never let happen

    4. Turning around to see the bride's tears. Was it just the tears of the bride that triggered him or was the tears of another bride who never had the wedding she dreamed of also influence him to some extent here. The epi started with Arnav thinking of Khushi's tears and broken dreams and here was another bride facing heartbreak on her special day!

    5. Khushi always told Arnav ki aap pehle baat ko bigaadte hain phir banaate hain - did he bigaado anything today? Nope it was Khushi who was on the verge of getting teh already riled up in laws all the more riled up with her forthrightess. The same strategy does not work on all.

    6. Khushi accuses Arnav of taking things at face value. Has not Khushi's impressions of Arnav been also on face value? She has been seeing how he has been behaving with Buaji and Amma, apologizing to them, accomodating to them. If Arnav thinks of Khushi hiding the file the moment it goes missing it is because he alwasy expects her to be upto some antics or tricks. Are not both of them being driven by their initial / first impressions of each other?

    7. If all goes weel tomorrow, Khushi will realize how wrong she has been to say that Arnav does not know how to put a smile on other's faces. He does not talk about it but he makes sure the work is done. The main difference between Shyam and Arnav. The former just a smooth talker but the latter a doer with no expectation of accolades for help given. No ehsaan jataoed on people he has helped.

    8. The man who could barely be cordial to guests at RM at muh dikhaayi, reigned in his temper at being told he came out late, and also how his wife's temper and manners needed a check. He looked at her helplessly because etiquette in speaking to elders - who better than her to know but the need of the hour needed mollification and hence Arnav's low voiced "I will try".

Also when he introduced himself, he did not say Aranv Singh Raizad. He just said, I am Arnav - Khushi's husband. That name he keeps flaunting to Khushi he did not flaunt it before the guests. He was tehre as the son in law of that hosue.

    1. Arnav Singh Raizada has come a long way from the day when he would whip out a wad of cash in the face of someone who crossed his path. the way he dealt with the OIL showed clearly that he KNOWS how to behave properly..he just dint care enough, before khushi.... heck, before he met this low class girl and her beliefs, he would never hesitate to blow his top..

today's episode was the revival of that ASR.. in his eyes the lion roared.. yet he dammed it down , for his in laws. for another girl waiting, all dressed for marriage.

he was all set to simply dismiss the groom from work.. but when he saw the bride's face, it moved him.... enough to go talk to the guy and explain what he did wrong.. so the guy could set things right.

that is a new face of ASR. he is learning to place other's emotions before his own.. you can say he always cared for di and then khushi, but when has he ever placed an employee's emotions into consideration?

i like how this story is progressing.

sandy, your 2 is perfect. those lines were in the screenplay for exactly that reason!

5.. he was slightly responsible for the guests attitude.. he did not know it, but him not coming out was remarked upon.. " we can accept the small space, but damaad not coming to greet us is be-izzati!" khushi can think that he did not come out because he wanted to humiliate her family..because he was mad at something.

it was significant that he did not introduce himself as ASR.. these people knew AR, where the groom worked.

(it was a blooper that the groom did not recognise khushi ma'm...)

  21. Continuing from above:

    9. Why does he need to drop the guy off the cliff to get him to agree because he needs to know the guy will look out for his wife post marriage. Aakash passed that test too. He was initially asked by Arnav and besides when the Ms India alliance came, Arnav with his eyes saw that Aakash stood up for Payal, for his love. That gave him the confidence that despite mami, Aakash will lookout for Payal. And hence it was Khushi he targeted desperately trying to make her beleiev he had a control over her with that wedding when in reality he has never had any control on that relationship. It was smoke and mirrors act purely for Khushi's benefit.

Today if Khushi sees Arnav salvaging a wedding, that too of a stranger, will she not wonder how he can break his own bro's wedding?

Arnav has different methods to get his work doen from Khushi's doesn't mean they make them wrong - just different.

    10. Loved Khushi saying that as we are starting a new relationship we need to start it based on steel-like string foundations and not let them be as fragile as glass.

    11. When buaji come to speak of Arnav not coming out, I loved teh concern on her face as to whether all was well with the couple and whether Khushi did something to again anger Arnav

    12. Khushi jumping to her friends talk causing arnav's anger was good. Because she knows he is upset with this wedding and she as well as the relationship mean nothing to him.

Her dialogue there seemd ot have double connotations for me: How is it my fault. It is my friends who spoke of teh wedding.

Somehow my mind heard her also say: How is it my fault? It was Shyam who spoke of loving me

    13. Arnav started to leave but then sensing a problem, he stops because somewhere Garima and Buaji's concern on behalf of Nandini unsettles him

    14. Hmm - there seems to be hints to another file today.

He searched high and low for that file, and when he find it, his eyes spot a clue to somthing else. So will bitwa start finding clues soon?

    15. All that glitters is not gold - meaning things may not be as they seem. The wrapping paper with Shyam's tag - that relationship is not as it seems to Arnav. Also just as it was a discarded wrapping paper which Khushi had stuffed away, that relationship is something that Khushi has discarded and stuffed benath the ground. But perhaps some realities of it may poke thru.

Why did I feel that when Khushi was asking him what was wrng, Arnav would have stomped out and maybe blurted out all facts to Garima and Buaji had he not heard the baraat?

    16. Loved how Garima and Buaji ask if he is alright in concern but do not force him to join the festivities.

    17. In their argument, them saying I dont want to talk to u and I do not want to show u my face - total recall of temple bandagement scene.

    18. Where Khushi has always reined in her tears and emptions for Di, today I loved that Arnav reined in his for Garima.

    19. When talks of the Khushi NK wedding came up Nani had correctly pinned Arnav's reaction as jealousy and not anger. Today it was the jealous Arnav who was annoyed with Khushi - for not reciprocating his feelings and anger at himself for not being able to stop caring and feeling for her, not being able to stop being concerned at her tears.

If today Arnav was irked at that girt wrapper, let us also pause an dthink how Khushi would have felt that Diwali night when he nearly kissed her and then announced his engagement to La.

Things are bubbling merrily away, so lets see ki aage aage hota hai kya!

That new promo - i am wishing something Khushi says triggers a batti in bitwa's head about Anjali's accident and Shyam..after all it did speak of biwi ki maut and mashooka se shaadi

all that i thought too but you did a fantastic job of penning it down - though i had not realized the imp of ASR saving this wedding and KKG (Hopefully) connecting it to - 'why would he go all out to save a strangers wedding but threaten to ruin his own brothers?' - very good point

loved your analysis of Arnav-Bride scene, though I loved it for other reasons (anji-payal) din't connect it to khushi

remember where Arnav asked Khushi to keep her marriage ideas to herself and she boldly replies "shaadi ki sooch hamara banaya huwa nahi hai Mr. Arnav Singh Raizada" .... There was a visible shift in him, both in expressions and body language.

    4. great post sandy!

the new promo.. seems arnav's face changed when he heard the news.. after all, it almost described sham.. so the murderous rage(not shown well in the promo, but i am imagining there is..) when he looks at her.. is enough to scare her even if he has only a nail clipper in his hand.

i wanted that rage in the promo.. would surely have raised TRPs. and to see that promo followed by maanvi refusing to donate blood for jeevika.. if i were a neutral observer, i would go see the sisters show!

yaa jisne pyar ko beh diya"

  23. Beautiful post Sandy,

There was one slight disconnect for me in today's episode and that was the ASR-Dulha conversation but ur reasoning peeled that layer for me.......

I was sidetracked by that "respect your wife/family" dialogue wondering iska kya meaning hain? Tho I remembered the Akash-Payal episode, esp Arnav asking Akash very seriously if he will always stand by Payal. That ASR attaches a lot of meaning to the marriage bond was clear, that its for keeps.... (maybe something to do with his past as well!! )So, ASR jumping into the fray did make a lot of sense and together with ur comments above, finally saw some sense in that scene..

  25. loved your post Sandy..(everyone calls u Sandy on the blog...so i will do the same...)i did like the episode but ur analysis makes it all more meaningful...

as i said in my earlier post now bitiya must think why ASR's hate resrved for her only when he is readily helping out even strangers ....why is he disrespecting only her belief in marriage institution...

he said after HR act "agar main tumse nafrat krta hun to iska matlab ye nahi ki poori duniya se nafrat krta hun"...
for Khushi it is more like "aap poori duniya mein sirf humse hi nafrat kyun krte hain.."

  28. wow dia, you updated the post... what a treat! thank you!!

the file.. she did say that she will hide his stuff.. he has trust that she will keep her word :D

heck yes, i still keep pretty wrapping paper...i think everyone except the throwaway class does..it was cute to see him smile and call her pagal..saving chamkili wrapping paper..

and then, someone has saved the gift tag, too! (the cv's wrote khushi-ji on it.. nice touch!) so he remembers the betrayal, her request to divorce TQ, remembers everything.. we have been hoping for something to kickstart his brain.. glad that a signed card from shyam made an appearance!!

he is burning man again.. and this time bitiya can read an inflection of his head... " why are you mad? talk to me.. " she is assured that he will tell her.. unlike before, he is answering every one of her questions these days. she is more secure.. trusts that he will answer her.. but he needs space right now. pushes her out, but she asks again , and he tells her.. only to be interrupted. neither the time, nor the place for this conversation... this has to happen elsewhere. (i have a feeling this was where the original sham answer was planned.. then the CVs introduced the pritika shaadi track, so this would not fit.)

khushi in front of the groom's party.. she is behaving as Ved's ajeeb. like i said in a previous comment, she is not as insensitive as to irritate the groom's relatives. as even the bridal party can see that khushi's comments are doing more harm than good. where is the mature girl that understands the situation and handles it to the common good? is she so used to the tom and jerry games that she plays with her husband that she forgets where to stop?

yes dia.. "as always, ODG is upset, and there is no one she can share this with.." your words took me back to their wedding night.. her breaking down in front of the recliner.. "you made me an orphan again"

but now, she knows him.. he needs some space..he is upset, he asked her not to go to him.. so even when buaji is indirectly asking her to go and call him( he said no to me,...he wont say no to you), she says he has work. protecting him, too.

arnav's realization of the poor brideside's problems was rather well shot. he came out of his room for a glimpse of the "ankur".. and confirmed with aman about the identity.. and fired him...but the bride's face gave him pause. so he went to talk to the groom.. but was waylaid by the angry kitten ."why did you needlessly scold me in public?"he knows there was need.. and he is slightly mad that she cannot see why he did it.. his impatience with her is exploding off the screen.. he has to do something, and she has to leave.. he found enough excuses to get her out, and talk to the guy, let him see what was wrong.. (something ASR would never do!)

(blooper.. khushi's room had a door to the outside? CVs, continuity of set perception!!)

somehow sorry that i wrote this long a comment, but dia, you inspire me to write!!

  31. Hey girls, enjoying all the discussions here ... today is a holiday here, and my mom has just arrived, and it's my birthday :)
So can't join in with the discussions but enjoyed reading everyone's takes.

Sandy, I agree with a lot of your views ... Su, Jaya, Rekha, everyone ... loved all the takes here.

I found it a good episode ... what I liked best was that the conflict started showing in ASR in real earnest ... he didn't explode after finding the Shyam tag ... he was in agony ... yet he managed to keep his head enough not to explode at Khushi immediately, as he has done every single time he was saw Shyam with Khushi, or saw what he imagined was Khushi's duplicity in wishing Anjali's happiness. The struggle to reconcile the two images of Khushi has finally started ... the Khushi he saw with Shyam and leaped to immediate conclusions about, and the Khushi he has seen here in GH, in her own surroundings, always busy as a bee, always trying to help others, always putting family first ... which includes random neighbors and friends, and more importantly, putting herself last ... would such a girl really ever put her own happiness and wishes ahead of anybody else's, let alone his sister's?

Loved the way he kept telling her to go away, that he didn't want to say anything he might regret later ...as though beginning to realise that he has said and done things to her which he later regretted ... and didn't want to do it again. So his dimaag finally seems to be kick-starting, but well under command of his dil ...

Loved also the way Khushi for the first time, understood the need to give him space, and told Buaji to leave him alone, rather than insisting he come out for the sangeet because it was his duty as the damaad, or some such thing ... loved the way she instantly recognized his anger and change of mood, and responded to it with worry, and her usual 'fix-it' attitude ... tell me why, what's wrong, what did I do wrong, what made you angry ... and I will try to right it.

    Rest after episode tonight.

Haven't seen the new promo ... someone post the link here please :)

Of all the idiotic medical tracks in shows, the one I find the most brainless is this 'don't tell anyone I have cancer' one ... that was why I loved the way they handled Suhana's cancer track in SGP - the most realistic way I have ever seen. 43. I always have issues with authenticity of the commentary of the interviews by the IF members. Sometimes I feel that they are are just made up. BS statements which come on IF every second day, most of them seem to be fake to me. Unless there is a video of the interview or the link I am not convinced!

  44. Anon,
Many posts on IF are by kids...in that deep infatuation stage ....so they want to lap up any quote, comment attributed to whom they idolise....so its possible that some interviews, (except the voice ones) may not be authentic.....anyways links are present...

It reminds me of the times when i used to follow cricket(i still do!)very religiously and i would then end up buying every single sport magazine (thankfully no internet then!!) that had any comment on my fav cricketer...and discuss it ad nauseam with my group of friends...been there done that!
Ab when i think of it, i do feel silly....Ah the pleasures of aging!! Some perspective gained finally or is it? What am i doing now, dissecting fictional characters ....some people age but they never grow up!!hehehe
