Quick update - Somehow the episode was not satisfactory ... badly written, or poorly acted? Didn't click, in spite of the Rabba ve scenes ... too many things happened, with no time for reflection in between ... jumping from awareness to irritate Arnav to awareness to irritate Arnav ...
The sleeping scene was on the whole, disappointing, Khushi and Arnav show absolutely no awkwardness when getting into bed together for the first time ... although the argument before was cute ... Khushi rolling all over Arnav in her sleep, and Arnav's only reaction being irritation didn't gel with me ... so the morning rabba ve although nice, didn't have as much effect as it could have had. The part I liked - the way Khushi says 'how would you know how I sleep, we've never slept in the same bed' ... and the sudden return to conscious awareness and awkwardness was good ... but again, their recovery was too quick. Why were the cv's in such a hurry to get over the RV scenes?
Now I really wonder if the channel is deliberately interfering and consciously damping down the chemistry :(
Khushi recovered so quickly to think about her next plan when Arnav says he's going jogging ... she recovered so quickly after the morning post-jog moment to think about her next plan ... is the screenplay badly written or deliberately kept this way? Since all the action is on her front, Arnav is doing nothing but react, it is even more noticeable. She seems to be totally in control of her feelings ... or at least able to control them whenever they show signs of going haywire ... is this deliberate on the part of the cv's? I refuse to believe it is poor acting skills ... the first few months of the episode are enough to rubbish that theory. So either the screenplay or the direction is faulty ... or there is interference from Big Boss SP - 8 pm show, can't have very suggestive scenes, children are watching.
Don't know what it is, but something is wrong. Wish the show would shift to a later time, so that it could stay with an "adult" tag ... then we might get the serious love story we were promised, and what this should be. It was never intended to be very light-hearted ... for whatever reasons it is being made light-hearted, and that's why the disconnect - it's not working.
No major OTT stuff today, just Khushi back to her antics - we badly need some introspection from Khushi now - does she even know why she's doing what she's doing? Why the need to make Arnav so uncomfortable? Just to rattle his ego and make him uncomfortable? To get back at his remark about class? When just yesterday she was almost in tears at the thought of the looming end of their marriage?
No, cv's ... you need to do much better than that. Whenever the Khushi characterization doesn't work, the episode is unsatisfactory. And no Rabba ve's or shirtless Arnav's can make up for it.
SN - though, I have to say, the guy is built! :) And is not too beefy - my main turn off with all the muscle men on screen.

Since we have already dissected the episode threadbare, am just adding my thoughts for each scene as they come.
Neighbors and Guptas - already discussed - the graciousness of the neighbors, they have to forgive the damaad and not expose his faults - will this ring a bell for Arnav as to why they hid Shyam's faults? Out of love and concern for Anjali? And for Akash and him - both damaads of the G house? Not only do they not blame Arnav, they go out of their way to set his mind at ease ... no problem, they can manage for one night for the damaad's sake. The breeze is cool, it won't be a problem.
As discussed below, in spite of all provocation, Khushi has not told Shyam's truth - she could have been vindictive and told Arnav - you threaten to break my sister's marriage, I will turn around and break your sister's marriage, by telling what your precious Jiju has been up to. But she has continued to hide it - not, as Arnav thinks, to hide her own guilt, but to save Anjali's marriage for as long as possible, especially in view of her pregnancy. And of her hyper Pati Parmeshwar persona.
Guptas and Arnav - Arnav feels guilty, he tries to set things right as usual. Khushi stops him ... but stops short of blaming him in front of her family too, although she can't hide her annoyance completely. But she also says, it will be ok in the morning, don't bother. Very realistic again - a wife torn between expressing her annoyance at her hubby (which is her right) yet not in front of either the neighbors or even her own family.
Buaji offers to fan him, Garima tells him to open the windows, use the coil, Khushi negates the coil ... and also says they should all sleep. Garima gets the net in place of the coil - solution to one problem at least.
ArHi - Arnav's feelings of guilt are tempered by Khushi being annoyingly bright and chirpy again ... damping down her earlier annoyance in favour of more subtle barbs. Did she do that on purpose? And does get in one snide remark on his downing the electricity for the entire neighborhood - but she kept it to when they were finally alone together. His guilt keeps him quiet, and now he can't even throw her out or onto the floor, because there is only one net - they have to share the bed. So he lays the Arnav Rekha in place. Found it interesting that he is the one laying down the boundary, not Khushi. He wants to keep his distance, because of the misunderstanding ... she has no such MU, so keeping distance doesn't strike her. Neither did it the night they shared the recliner - again she was the one who had the idea of sharing it. All she wants to know is the reason for the hate in the marriage ... the love, the closeness, is very welcome. She has never really shied away from it or ever tried to avoid it.
Another amicable squabble about which side to sleep =)) soooo familiar! Every new place we go to, my hubby and I have the same discussion - which side is the right one, as we're used to sleeping in a certain position for years now!
Loved the way Arnav finally lost it and told her he doesn't get to sleep in his own bed at home either ... and Khushi's remarkable lack of concern =)) as good as told him, that's your problem, not mine! Bechare Chotey! Countered immediately with brute force this time - Shut up, I'm sleeping here.
And loved it when she makes a face and goes round the bed, and Arnav immediately asks her - where are you going?! What are you doing?! He can't believe she actually gave in! Shows how he enjoys their squabbles - like the Bali in Dilli night, when he was actually disappointed she didn't fight back.
And Khushi's sweet smile, folded hands, and wickedly demure Pati Parmeshwar, I'm just obeying you, that's all!
The next little exchange was damn cute ... Arnav's alarmed - what's that noise?!
Khushi, unperturbed - my side of the bed makes a noise.
Arnav, resignedly - of course. How can anything to do with you ever be quiet?!
I love his sarky one-liners!

Morning scene was much better :) ... although the way Arnav pushed Khushi's leg off him was a little bleh, but he made up for it by the way he started to push her hand off too, and got lost in niharofying his sleeping biwi :"> And liked the little touch of her hand holding on to his collar - that's been pretty much a constant in all the sleeping/unconscious scenes too ... as though Khushi in sleep needs the reassurance of holding on to something or someone. And the way his hand goes to hers to throw it off, but continues to hold on to it, as he niharofies her ... :"> and leaves her hand just as he sees her awaken, and lies back straight, guiltily, as though caught doing something he shouldn't have been doing.
And the way Khushi awakes to see her hand on his, startled ... sees him awake too ... and withdraws her hand far more slowly ... straightens herself, her dupatta ... very aware suddenly of where they are in the same bed. Total awkwardness ... neither is yelling at the other for encroaching on their space ... till Arnav has to break the awkwardness the only way he can ... by grouching about a sleepless night, leaving the reason unspoken - was it the heat, the mosquitoes, or the space. He doesn't tell her directly that he minded her encroaching on his side at all. Khushi's reply is also not fighting, it's more apologetic ... I sleep like this only ... Arnav picks her up on that one ... you don't, and she fires back - how would you know? This is the first time we've shared a bed ...
Oops ... awkward silence again ... neither really in a hurry to move ... unspoken dreams, if things were different between them, this would not have been the first time ...
till Arnav finally decides to break that awkwardness ... to go jogging.
He informs 'aunty' ... Khushi calls out more like out of habit than anything ... 'call her Amma' ... her face has this fond affectionate look ... how she loves riling her man and getting his response.
And then she gets another idea ... although I do know where she's going, I wish she would give it a rest! But then how would the story proceed?! Arnav atm is giving excellent imitation of good SP bahu ... silent suffering bhartiya nar, because he loves his patni parmeshwari.
Akhada scene ... again interesting to see that the men's good-natured ribbing 'agar mard ho' didn't get Arnav riled up enough, but Khushi's 'inse nahin hoga ... aap nahin kar payenge' did the trick instantly ... that Sallu poster is grating on Arnav apparently :)) And what biwi says and thinks of him matters the most.
And the tables turned on Khushi as HH gets into action ... surrounding men admire, and long awaited shiddat realized - Khushi niharofies HH with her jaw dropping ... about time her hormones kicked in! Good going, Bitwa! Loved that half-smirk he gave her ... wish it had been longer :)
Men congratulate bitwa, he's least bothered, all his attention and eyes on biwi and only her ... she offers him water, he tells her to hold his (what's it called) danda ... to prove his point again, as she almost drops it and he echoes her words back to her ... forget it, you can't do it ... and he sambhalos it himself. Point proved ... he can do everything ... he's her Mr Perfect.
And then pours her offered water on himself, and Bitiya is totally gone now :"> :"> :"> lost completely in her Hotwa Hubby ...
(This is why I was irritated at how quickly she recovered ... there should have been a visible effort on Khushi's part to get back to her plan, maybe a break of scene. And why the emotions felt truncated.)
Payal-Manorama-Bubbly ... seems the makers have changed this track slightly - to show how Bubbly actually wants to be mothered, but everyone insists on treating her as grown up and able to make her own decisions ... no one wants to mother her, scold her, or treat her like the child she actually is. And Bubbly doesn't much care to be like Mami, for sure! :))
ArHi again ... Arnav wants to shower ... liked the way Garima offered tea, very natural and sweet ... and then the saga of Going for Shower starts ... first delayed by Buaji, then by Khushi, one inadvertantly, one very much on purpose ... Khushi back to her 'irritate Arnav into talking' track. I have to remind myself that Khushi actually has a reason for her irritating ways ... she is very successful at being irritating!
One last thought - with Sanaya off to UK at the end of the month, this does seem to be a good time for the ME and one part of the MU to be exposed - Arnav's reason for marrying Khushi to become known to Khushi. Arnav goes back to RM without Khushi, as she refuses in her hurt to come back with him. So we get a day or two of Arnav without Khushi at RM, missing her, and now actually investigating Shyam seriously, after Khushi's reaction to his truth.

ReplyDeleteMu name is Chicky (using my pen name). Well, let me tell you I have been a silent reader of the blog for a week and I thought it was the time for me to uncover! Your writing skill is beautiful and knack of understanding IPKKND main characters is truly wondrous as I am still relating to these characters. I am new.
I have a suggestion for you, and would be glad if you take it. I have seen that you write fiction stories as well. You did it for DMG. I think you should write a fiction story for Arnav and Khushi because you read the feeling and emotion of lead characters so well and you would not turn Khushi so meek! I brushed through some of the fan fictions, they try their nest but they don't really relate to the characters as well and end up re-characterising them.

Delete5 star became AC - ok maybe teh 5 starred eco friendly AC :) and Khushi's revenge for her family being embaraased seems to be the bathroom trick. But starting Mon, I am really praying for scenes of teh family individually with Arnav and Khushi. Even buaji speaking to Arnva and telling him abotu how to look beyond her snak devi's sanak - akin to Anji khushi talk will be good.
Khushi knowing is coming up because either Arnav will finally explode after that no water trick or if he actually continues to take all of it quietly then Khushi is going to wonder why her Pyar Overdose plan is not working.
I am also hoping that Arnav goes out to his car, encounters a neighbour or Happyji and somehow talk veers to how they are happy Khushi has a nice hudband like him as compared to that slimeball PG Shyam and maybe he will come and ask buaji something about why teh engagement broke and how the man broke their trust.

Am I the only one who is not enjoying the bathroom may paani gaayab scenes or even the gym session?
When she did this at RM, it was fine, it was his home. When she does this at her home, she drags her family too and I don't like this.
Yaar the G Ladies are going out of their way to make him comfy and he is NOT complaining at all. He can throw tantrum, throw taunts infront of her family or at her, he is not doing it, Bitwa is trying his best, cant you see that Bitiya?
I loved the dialogue, khidki kholo thandi hawa aayegi and garmi bhaag jaayegi (somethig of that sort)....as if to say open your heart and eyes and look at the truth, the bitterness will go away.
I hope the Guptas give her a blast so she does not mess with them..she can mess with HIM not with her own family.

With the SB and ur note, think back to the time Arnav made her take those pehwlwaan type kedole shole measurements, saw her in sari at photoshoot, rain hug. all that happened on his turf and he began to fall for her.
mujhe lag raha hai they r doing that for khushi now on her tirf and we are going to see bitiya falling for him. also she is as blinkered as arnav when angry toh soch gayi hai tel lene - aur badle ki aag main khushiji ko bitwa ka naya swaroop dikh hi nahi raha hai.
In this stay she will get aware of the physical attraction and he will get aware of her heart / person she is. she already knows the person he is part and he already has a physical attraction for her.

DeleteI guess this is back to that time when he told her he faked his faint, bitiya decided to kill him softly with her love, and that's exactly what she's doing! Not getting mad at him, not arguing, not even the OTT Swami stuff, just being sweetly submissive, agreeing with everything he says and doing exactly what she wants to do, which includes getting him as hot and bothered as possible. Again goes back to her mission of getting him to kick her out of RM, because she can't walk out now herself.

DeleteEver since Khushi stopped speaking to DM or her amma bauji the stars - her thoughts seem to be muddled to viewers. Thankfully Si emotes Khushi well else where would we all be.
True it is all about "Killing him softly with her love". For some reason Veer Zaara will not let go of me - where Veer initially thought of Zara as a spoilt brat and not a thoughful person. Seems like Khushi's reaction to Arnav is similar in ongoing story.
They are rushing because yes the falling TRPs jolted them - so they are keeping SI and BS in max scenes plus making BS strip shirt on demand. Fellow was sick ends up having to douse himself with water, wear a high collar sweatshirt in this sweltering weather and then bathroom scene. I looked at the akhaada scene as a challenge won by him - not droolworthy IMO. The bathroom scene well, I hope Khushi gets sent by buaji with buckets of water into the bathroom as she is his wife and is totally flustered.
Bed scene awareness awkwardness should happen the subsequent night keeping in mind Khushi's runaway dialogue, the day's events et al. A couple married for 3 months, share a bed for the first time while both are irritated with the other for the sitaution they are in so not much blush blush seemed ok to me. That 7 janam RV would not affect because it was more about how Khushi in her HMC said janamjanmantar of happiness without thinking twice whereas the moment she heard the blessing from another the irony of their situation hit her. Funnily the couple who should be keeping count is barely cognizant of time running out. They have so much more on their agenda of hate and hurt.
Buaji has seen the way Khushi shoots off her mouth to Arnav and I am guessing Khushi is in for a talk with buaji on how to behave better given he is her husband.
Sandy want this this *shiddat* buaji send khushi with bucket of water and she does as soap hits bitwas eyes and this time make khushi aware to the core of her HH .... and linger on it even after he has left the washroom and if possible the whole day at least in his presence

Khushi moving about in the bed...not sure how to react to that scene...Khushi is a fidgety person so thats expected, some people do move a lot on the bed..but doesn't our innate sense of where we are, usually take over in such circumstances and cause us to be more careful, i thot...maybe i am wrong... Maybe showing her in the past doing something like that could have helped either in GH or RM. One thing is for sure, her habit to hold on to sleeves has been kept intact, she has often done that
Did u guys also think that CVs lost an opportunity to make Arnav introspect a bit during the night scene..here he was sharing bed with the girl he loves...who doesn't love him back..his misery of sorts...I felt his reaction to just puting away her hand/leg was rather tame...

Though he pushed her leg away (kya pata kitni "pareshaani" ho rahi thi bechare ko - total MIG), he actually just held onto her hand - it reminded me of teh way she held his at Holi - theyou compelte me.
And both were embarassed. Khushi set right her dupatta and her dress and to break the awkwardness Arnav as usual starts off in indignation knowing it will break the ice but then Lucknow Express blabbered and brought it right back to the point of blush!
Btw is she now going to call him Pati Parmeshwar and not Swami

Yep, Khushi was satisfactorily affected all right ... shukar hai her hormones are in working order. Me was beginning to have doubts! :D But she recovered too fast ... wish they had given her a few seconds more of standing dazed ... while HH realized that he had got the better of her on this one and smirked at her ... I also wanted to see his smirk ... :)) Arey baba, you are rushed for time shooting cut to cut, just elongate the moments properly, we are happy, actors are happy and producers have their twenty minutes canned :))
DeleteIf they had elongated the post Khushi remark moment in bed in the morning, and then the post exercise smirk, and shown a little bit of introspection from Khushi solo, they could have started the bathroom routine tomorrow, not rushed it today. Barun would have got some rest and Sanaya apparently cans her scenes very quickly ... it's Barun who needs more re-takes (according to one person on IF - how true, I don't know) ...so a couple of solo Khushi reflective scenes would be excellent fillers, besides shaping her side more evenly.
The morning scene - I liked the way she hears Arnav say "aunty" again and shouts out "amma kaho na" ... she has this very fond affectionate smile on her face, as though saying, I love teasing my man, he's so easy to rile up!
exactly Dia, somewhere just elongating the scenes work so well in adding those necessary thinking moments.. no special emoting needed.. but I'm a bit scared to say that.. last week I said I liked one elongated shot, and the next day it was long and longer moments all through.. something very familiar from other SP serials, and not something i want to happen on IPK. certain moments need a bit of reflection within the scene, adds to the overall effect of the portrayal..
DeleteI think if the scene had cut off at khushi's lowering eyelids and then the scene changes to ustaadji's dialogue or something, it would have been okay in the next scene to see bitiya chirpy again... the problem was that it came sort of continuously...

This guy was away for 3 days came back and shoots less hours because of his health and cv's can't pull of full 10 mins without them (or is it that in such hurry these 2 are the ones they can trust with their ability of acting)...... Where's time to narrate the scenes, complete the expression ...... No wonder they kept the bed scene funny, any inner turmoil to be shown would have taken time ...... DeleteSama, yep, that's exactly what I mean ... they seem to be getting TOO dependent on SaRun ... the Payal-Mami scene was all of two minutes long. The rest was all ArHi - normally I would be delighted, but the quality definitely suffers in giving us the quantity. As I posted yesterday. someone's comment on IF that the PH has woken up to the ArHi magic and is bent on showcasing them full blast - that seems to be true - and the actors are suffering! And so is the script ... you can't write twenty minutes of stuff on just two people and keep it good - all through the Akhada scene, I was wondering why the other men are just standing round and watching ... the women I could understand ;) So the direction is also suffering - how much time does it take for the director to tell the extras to keep moving, keep doing some exercise ... hallmarks of good direction is the attention to detail. That is lacking.

DeleteRight now their TRPs are so low that they are too scared to use teh side characters. Alomost like post NY when when even if it was for a tupid mosquito slap scene they still held on to ArHi.
But compared to past 2 weeks, this week has been better throughout and I am sincerely hoping to see some well thought out scenes next week. - but of course now they are rushing to meet the ME schedule. Actually if they had used some of the ArHi scenes on Monday adn actually had even Shyam scenes today it would have been good. But looks like they are stalling it all for next week. Anyways with ME there will also be a promo.
Ok am the episode was average as Dia said.. Something was missing. I wasn't able to point and didn't know what it was lacking. The emotions and awareness!!

Like I always said expression were incomplete. you dont need lines to be said, and it takes just another 5 to 10 sec to make viwers understand. today it was as if they wanted to rush to the shirtless ASR so that viwers don't change the channel. WT?? WT ?? A big Dandda on its way CV's!!
The fight for the bed was cute..but why wasnt Bitwa reacting to her at night, infact why in the morning that his dimaag lights up to it?? *head desk* more over I would have loved to see more of emotions and control at night then at morning.
Bitwa in the akhadda was ok again I am not at all happy with this bathroom scene !!

Deletethat akhaada scene had 2 purposes - to keep the fangirls happy. For others it was about Khushi realizing how much about Arnav she does nto know - note the ustaad and the otehr guys appreicated his grasp of the art and his expertise. Also Khushi knew that a challenge would get a rise fromh im but not knowing his skills she thought he would make a fool of himself but he actually came out heaped with praises.
Also when he walked out with teh 2 dand in each hand, Iit made me think of how he is shoudlering the dual weight of Shyam's duplicity and Khushi's betrayal. A lesser man would have crumbled but ASR has stoically broned this cross without letting on just how cut up he is within except for arre moments of lashing out. But outwardly he is still teh same ASR - no one realizes how hurt he is within.
Khushi offers him respite in the form of water but to accept it he is forced to share some of his burden with her and what happens - she falters under teh weight of it and he reaches out to steady her factually telling her she will not be able to bear it alone. But his burden is halved and he accepts her respite and washes his face with it - an indication perhaps that he receives some information from the G family and this actually helps him shake off his lethargy and rejuvenates him to look at things from a fresh perspective?

DeleteSandy, I had similar thoughts when I saw Arnav wield the two dhandas. The first dhanda represents Shyam's duplicity (that is what struck him first seeing him hug Khushi) and the second dhanda was Khushi's betrayal (that is what he felt when he heard her ask Shyam to leave Anjali). Arnav handing over the second dhanda to Khushi could indicate his impending revelation to Khushi about why he married her (going by the spoilers). Khushi faltering while bearing the dhanda could indicate how hurt she is going to be realising Arnav thought so little of her. Seeing how broken she is, Arnav may relent and remove the burden from her and just as he accepted her water which he poured on his face and shook himself clean to see her again, he may accept some clues about her and start seeing her in a new light (this may or may not happen in the G house because it all depends on when and where he reveals the truth about their marriage). Once he does this maybe Arnav will become more attractive to Khushi.

Wanted to add that when Arnav tries to go into the house Khushi tells him to take the route behind the house because she did not want the house to get dirty. Maybe once everything is cleared between them, Khushi may ask Arnav not to reveal the real reason for their marriage to her family and keep it concealed for it will soil her family's opinion of him.

One more thing I missed out. When Khushi was struggling with the clothes in the bathroom, Arnav steps in and volunteers to take them. Although in the scene she was doing it only to delay things, in reality she does keep worrying about her family. Maybe this could indicate that Arnav will help Khushi by shouldering the burden of her family.

DeleteIn that bathroom scene, did u notce how Buaji almost tells him the truth (about water) but then khushi cuts her off and speaks of clothes. Looks like when Buaji would be about to tell him about Shyam the PG and fiancee being Anji's husband or something similar, Khushi will stop buaji. She will try to clear up the mess herself (kitne saare kapde) but then seeing her struggle (under the load as well as the time she took) Arnav will step in. They will be running out of time in their 6 month marriage so teh need for haste. But just as time is up Khushi asks for soap to clean so the true reason behind the marriage will get divulged to all. But she also said that at our hosue things need to be put back in the right place so the G family will finally tell Arnav about how he has always been the harbinger for tumult in their lives - starting with Lucknow - putting him in his place.
Today when arnav gave that dandh back to Khushi, she faltered and then he calmly states a fact that she cannot take teh weight but he will in time to come realize she has taken the same weight as him (Shyam's duplicity and her pain at his betrayal of her and forefully marrying her) and still continued to smile while not letting anyone know of her innermost turmoil either.
Opti, yes that second dandh is of the lover's betrayal - from both ends. But Arnav will realize her burden and stand up for her. Notice the dandh with Syam's duplicity rests only with Arnav because right from Lucknow - it has been Arnav's fault and hence his destiny to reap as he has sown.
Also, Arnav took teh dirty laundry from Khushi out into the open - airing family secrets in public? And for a second there I saw buaji behind him. When the truth of what Khushi gave up for the family came, buaji will be her champion at G house and the one to band bajao Arnav?
Sandy and Opti , thanks girls for fantastic analysis, yes when I watched the akhadda thing it did strike for some symbolism but somehow didn't connect, because my mind was still with the incomplete bed room emotions.

It has to come from Arnav because K all OTT has been towards him to blow out and come out with the real reason. K has know that there is a big reason for it and Bitwa will only say it loud when he is in anger, He did give out a bit in the previous 2 attempts (first that you hurt me, and the second I married you to save someone) one will third attempt give the last clue to connect the dots for the reason. I don't see an outright admission from Bitwa because as you said ASR is back and still in control of that emotion. But this time it will be a big enough clue for K to realise the reason.
And the file might contain the contract marriage details, giving TF to play his cards, either by acting all caring with TQ as he had decided to play by making Arnav believe that he indeed has changed.
Or become bolder and more aggressive and in the process give him off.
If according to spoilers if K knows the reason- why will she not clear it with Bitwa?? or will she make a point to show Bitwa what he thinks isn't right, by giving back to TF infornt of Bitwa, but will A believe her??

DeleteHe already mistrusts her. Thinks she is acting - even when he sees her concern with his eyes. If he tells her the reason (and yea I am hoping for 3rd time lucky; chot, save a life and now a 3rd clue which will set Khushi thinking), anything Khushi says why would he believe? No Khushi will be heartbroken that Arnav mistrusts her but she will rise up and fight against Shyam now - for her honour, for her family's honour. Also she kept quiet all this while wanting to spare Arnav the pain if he realizes the true nature of Shyam because of its ramifications for his Di. Now when she realizes that he already knows and has been hurting and dying from inside because of another man's duplicity, she has added venom to goad her. She will be fighting for teh hurt and pain caused to both families - due to teh decpetion and then the resulting elopement. Also Shyam may tell Khushi he knows her marriage is a forced one and he will try and may threaten to tell her family. Where with Arnav she has always been tellling him to out the tuth she will actually ask Shyam not to out it - because end of the day she does not want her family hurt just to know the reason for the wedding. this could be teh first confusion for arnav.
When I last wondered about the file even Jaya asked me why it was important - and the thought did cross my mind that it could be something related to the contract marriage (perhaps in the nature of Arnva setting up financial support for her when she leaves - he considers it payment of services rendered) - but I am going to wait and ewatch this one. Thing is if Arnav and Khushi need to come together to fight Shyam they need a very solid reason to do so - and preventing the tru nature of their marriage from being spilt to all is a powerful one - becasue then all their efforts to shield their families from hurt would have been in vain. They got married for thier siblings and if the same siblings were exposed to the bitterness then what would have been achieved.

When Shyam breaks it to the family - Anji will stand by SHyam and be very hurt with her bro for doing such an act - if an elopement was hard to diegst - how will they accept a contarct marriage, nani too will be unflinghing. Do u recall how on the morning after the wedding Arnav told Anji that if you and the family cannot accept that we are husband and wife then we will both leave this house.
Makes me want to believe that Arnav will stand by khushi when she fights to restore her honour in the eyes of the world. She will be scared but she will have Arnav to hold onto.

He did give her a lot of reasons which have been hints to the main reason - hates her and wants to see her hurt, because she would have spoilt another's life.

So Khushi should get sufficiently hurt to stay back in GH ... the pointers to this like her farewell from RM, and the AC being useful after he leaves would then make sense. DeleteWhile K has no reason to go back to RM, will that not cause an upheaval in TQ's life...if Chotte's wife does not return....so somehow they will show her returning atleast for the time being...the scenes of symbolism are correct but IMO they are for the later event when she will actually leave RM..at that time, there may be no actual goodbyes...so they may have weaved in the symbolism for now

ReplyDeleteok - the episode - though i need to re-watch later - seemed fine. am ok with him and her not being more conscious of them sharing the bed for the first time - that happened after their fight - the lights going out coz of the AC, the general environment was hardly conducive to romance!! (and ODB wearing a full sleeved T could not have helped - he was already hot (headed) and this would have just added to it (no MIG intended - meant as in hot and bothered!)
the niharofying in the morning then made sense - when he had the time to actually see her and her statement about them never having shared a bed was well done!
everything was fine (and i did not feel it was jumping from scene to scene - for the reasons noted above) - till the muscle flexing thing - till them ODG did well - from the teasing to actually being amazed that her hottie husband could move his arms so - to finally going 'hot hot hot' niharofying the water shower!
- what did not gell, was the episode after that - why bother him on purpose - why cause him to hate his sasural with stupid things like no water??? i have a temper too when it comes to no water in the loos - so i can understand ODBs anger here - the scene seems completely uncalled for - they should have used this to show arnav-buaji-babuji bonding!!

ReplyDeleteI was looking forward to a really sweet and awkward scene with the bed sharing yesterday but somehow it didn't deliver. I'd promised myself I wouldn't come up with more scenes for IPK after comedy fever struck but in all fairness I wrote this a while back and modified it today...
I wish the bed sharing scene had been something more like this...
Scene:
Arnav carefully demarcating his space and telling Khushi he’ll stay on his side and she’s to stay on hers.
They climb into bed both very uncomfortable, moving to the extreme ends of their respective sides and face away.
In the morning they wake up with Arnav having clearly crossed his own LOC clutching Khushi
(Spooning is hardly scandalous for a tv show – even SP would allow that much, We’ve seen Arnav sleeping while holding onto a pillow so it would have been more credible than tazmanian devil Khushi)
Khushi waking up completely comfortable and not troubled by her husband’s arm around her waist(/midriff?)until she realizes where they are exactly. For a moment she just looks at his hand tightly holding onto her, securely keeping her close to him. She briefly touches his hand as though she wants to hold onto his hand and make sure he doesn’t let her go. Then the awareness dawns and she remembers that awake he hates her and always has some cruel words to mete out which just makes these subconscious moments all the more unbearable.
She’s visibly hurt and upset and quietly moves his hand and climbs out of the bed. She’s about to go away when she steels herself for one quick look of her laad governor sleeping , again she moves her hand to touch his face/sweep away hair/anything but catches herself. This isn’t real after all and so she takes a deep breath steadies herself but unable to completely lose the hurt and longing and walks out.
Arnav wakes up and sees his hand in Khushi’s spot and immediately looks around ‘Khushi?’
She’s nowhere to be seen so he gets up realizing just how much he’s encroached into her space and is confused and wonders where she went. He peer out of the room to see her sitting quietly deep in thought drinking tea with her amma and buaji happily gossiping around her.
Garima sees him and says ‘Bitwa chai peeyoge?’
Khushi looks up but doesn’t quite meet his eyes.
‘No thanks Aunty. Mein pehle jogging ke liye jaata hoon.’
Khushi looks up at him at the word 'aunty' but doesn’t say anything.
End scene.
We’ve had tonnes of Arnav niharofying Khushi scenes and his moments of awareness. I really wanted this to be about Khushi. I wouldn’t mind if they’d followed up with the exercise scenes where Khushi has recovered herself and goes back to annoying him but just for the aftermath at least Khushi should have taken a bit of time to recover, to wonder, to introspect. Like she said they’ve never slept in the same bed-that should register- more with her than anyone else. In a daily show where you show every emotion and reaction to day to day stuff I feel they took the wrong approach to bed scene...

Deletein the episode, I was impressed with the way he clasped her fist in his hand.. reminiscent of how he clasped her hand to his chest after holi.. and the line echoed unsaid.. "kaash mein tumse pyaar kar paata."
I guess the star plus CVs did not want a chemistry-filled bed scene, they tried to make it comical so the audience would not feel awkward watching it..
Gargi, that was beautiful! That would have been so beautiful, and would have focussed again on Khushi's pain, it came to the forefront in that saat janam vala scene, and then the cv's forgot about it again :(

DeleteThis is a lovely scene - And I am pinning hopes that this will happen in the future perhaps at RM. For this to happen and have an impact, Khushi needs to feel the kaash hum aapse nafrat kar paate. For now it is Arnav feeling Kaash main tumse mohabbat kar paata like Jaya said. Maybe it will be the R family he will see her against but then her sense of loss will be for him, for the marriage and not being able to call her own this family as she will not be around much longer.

In Mumbai there is a concept of train friends - ask ur cousins. Peopl who use the locla trains to and fro from work become buddies - much like R&R. from all walks fo life and with different haalat. Their only common being taking the train at a particular time day after day. If a regular is not seen for some days or evn a day, you should see the enquiry the next day and the concern that hope all is well. Sometimes people get late and take a later train or they went in earlier or they had a family function or some emergency. But that joyful Hi that lights up peopl's faces is so heart warming.
Sandy dam true you remind me of my days when I used to travel for work and yes they do become good companion with in hours. I miss that now !! But my Mom still travels every day and the 9'oclock local is her dam lifeline. I remeber for my wedding reception more than half my mom's friend who attented were train friends.

One scene which was really touching in yesterday's episode was the fact that the friendly neighbours graciously accepted that they may have to do without electricity for the night, knowing that it was Arnav's AC which was responsible for their collective misery. They respected the fact that he was the rich damaadh and they did not mind putting up with some inconvenience for his sake. They could have easily kicked up a furore and made the lives of the ladies in G house miserable and Arnav, more guilty, but they didn't. It was a lesson for Arnav that people who are not materialistically rich can still be rich in virtue. A stark contrast to the snobs of his own high society who behaved quite shamelessly on Diwali night and Khushi's muh dhikayi ceremony.
ReplyDeleteAgree, and also very believable ... first and foremost, he's damaad, so for these simple folk, you don't insult a damaad at all, regardless of your own inconvenience ... and secondly, he is rich high class person, again simple folk would be in awe of him and not insult him. Worked on both fronts.
DeleteIn this aspect, there has been consistency, even on Khushi's first visit home for the abortive pag phera, her neighbors were far kinder than the R high society ones - they expresses surprise at her sudden marriage, and then simply blessed her. And going back to the very first week in Lucknow, when Payal's first wedding broke, again the neighbours were supportive ... said it was a good thing Shashi hadn't bowed to dowry demands, and recounted their own bad experiences with dowry. I liked that little touch then too.
Yes, Dia. Hope Arnav noticed the difference in the attitude of people from her low class society and gets to see more such instances.

DeleteWhether he thought of class or not, this was an indication about how a segment in society believed in accomodating the damaad irrespective of the inconvenience to themselves.
"damaad hai, ab kya kar sakte hain" - a precurser to Arnav realizing why G family kept quite about Shyam the PG after knowing he was Anji's husband. Shyam is after all the R family damaad. Plus with Aakash being their damaad, how could they do something that will shatter / hurt his family. Buaji is cognizant of the physical discomfot to Arnav, that news would have caused so much mental anguish to their damaad and his family.
They did not mean to decive but meant to protect - and by extension Khushi did not mean to decive she meant to protect. She shares teh same values as her family. And they have continued to protect even in the eye of having to bear darkness in the form of an elopement for the family and a contract marriage for Khushi.
in case that last bit was unclear what i meant os ay is G family never oepned their mouth when Arnav eloped to marry Khushi and taunt him.

When Khushi insulted him by asking about a sister's broken marriage, Arnav unthinkignly released the Lucknow fashion show footage causing loss of honour for Khushi. But even when Khushi was insulted and keeps receiving taunts from him, she has alwasy sought the reason and without knowing that has never like Arnav unthinkingly blurted out about Shyam - him believing her was secondary. How easy it wouldhave been for her to jataaofy that she was actually trying to protect him adn Anji. But no she has not jataaoed
And here is where will be the biggest pyaar ka ehsaas jataana for Arnav to feel her love and concern when he knows what she did and why she did it.
Dia, coming to your topic, I agree with you that they need to focus more on emotions. Hormone rush is fine but the feelings these two share is far deeper and they need to start realising that. If Khushi keeps annoying Arnav he is not going to be able to see the real person she is. His irritation and her counter to that can go on endlessly like a vicious circle. It has to break somewhere. Maybe when he is forced to reveal the real reason for their marriage, Khushi can concentrate more on redeeming herself. I so wish that both of them have flashbacks of scenes which show the care the other had exhibited to them in the past. The disconnect in their thoughts and actions should puzzle them both and make them want to dig deeper.

Yes Opti, most of the rabba ves are indicated as physical attraction, but there have been rabba ves when one or the other got emotionally touched... I see that more of this kind of interaction is needed. ..we know, and they (both) know that their partner is hot.. no need to underline it more.. it is the emotional closeness that has to happen more..
Deletebut as we said before, they have been getting used to "acting" as a couple.. they have been married 3 months.. sharing a room and all that.. so now I get that they are physically comfortable with each other, with a degree of unconscious mental comfortableness with each other... the aim should be to get them to the conscious level.. which is difficult, because of all the MUs and whatnot..
I remember some song pictured with the hero/heroine's aatmas dancing together while they both were actually sitting still.. so if arnav could have khushi in a place without misunderstandings, voh apne salaakhon pe bidhaake usse pyaar karta..like ranjha said, if there was someplace else where all this did not matter... (gosh those lines got written in my heart i swear!)
getting back to point, arnav has to see the honest love and care that she has, for him.. khushi has to see at least some instances where he cares for her..or her family without taunting her about it ... NOT just enough to make a question in her mind... like the HR act cleared to her ..without doubt.. that ODB is in love with her, she has to know that he WILL take care of her by default..(remember the candlewax- vs- La falling choice?)
I wanted something to happen to ODG.. or maybe babuji.. to let her see the extents he will go for his wife..

Arnav Khushi sharing a bed - well they did share a recliner and I though to fo it when I first saw the scene. That time, Khushi set boundaires and Arnav broke them down to end up together. Today he set boundaries only for Khushi to break then down. A nice way fo saying each has been breaking up the walls and obstacles the other has set up. That day she slept without so much tossing around but I guess being back in home environs allowed Khushi to relax her need to be alert and hence teh excessive fidgeting.
The wordplay of lakshmanrekha and Arnavrekha (rekha rekha :P) was nice. Khushi said how would she dare cross the boundaries protecting her honour or for that matter even the boundaries setup by Arnav. But like in sleep, she subconsciously broke down the walls he built around himself and made him fall for her. She spologized for breaking down his walls and he said apology accepted.
Bubbly - Payal scene just around the the Arnav - Aunty scene. Arnav also cannot tolerate Mami comapring him to her. Bubbly said you are my bhabhi not my mother. And then teh scene of him calling Garima aunty not amma. Maybe there will come a time when Bubbly will accept Payal as a mother figure and Arnav will accept to call Garima Amma.
When she was with Shyam, Bubbly reminded me of khushi in the entire return my soap scene.
When she was with Anjali - well she remindd me of Anjali herself with her hamein sab pata hai remark.
bubbly told payal not to treat her like a little girl.. but that is what she is.. and somehow, after payal left, her sad look at the doll signified that she indeed wanted to be treated like a little girl..

As far as SPOILERS go, My take on where this serial is poised :
1) Arnav will be mad at Khushi's antics and the volcano will erupt to let K know the reason of the marriage
2) K will obviously be stunned but it will bring brought two important realisations for her...
that her love for A is a chimera she built,a faulty edifice, there is no foundation for it...as the man has left no stone unturned to her know what exactly he thinks of her..
She will not put up any fight (i am not entirely sure of this!!) one becos she is too distraught and her own sense of guilt of hiding the truth from A will stop her from putting up a defence.
2) Unlike many, i don't she will stay back at GH. She will come back to RM, but a changed person, a overnight grown up Khushi.
3) A will be stunned at her lack of fight...it will only serve to confirm her duplicity in the crime. However,this time, his reaction will not be that of an upset brother of Anjali but a betrayed lover of Khushi.
4) Herein hangs the tale, what until now was a matter of conjecture, his greatest nightmare, (some have said, that he did not voice the reason so far becos of his fear of Khushi's response) will become true. He will be forced to accept mentally that she never had any feelings for him and That will be Arnav's downfall.
5) he will now behave more ruthlessly with her...That part of the junoon that zee highlighted in her spoilers is this very moment. where he will not be able to stomach her lack of interest in him.
6)Khushi will go about her "sentence", in a dignified manner but will break within...
7)A will know of the truth closer to the 6 month period but by then it may be too late. RTR for A begins
I have never ever been able to paint scenarios and I am not sure that the above scenario will be one that will unfold As a viewer, after all the mayhem, the above still makes sense. I am not been able to weave in other side characters into the scenario above and the roles they will play, coz thats not my strength.
suffice to say, there will be many different views, this is just one of them..

DeleteEverytime Arnav has come close to blurting anything of import to Khushi there has been a mention of her hurt.
1. Khsuhi speaks of how his actions and words hurt her and he tells her about his chot
2. Khushi speaks at holi about how she has been trying to forget that her heart races and understand but has filed to it. The pain in her voice drives him to tell her it is because their hearts are one.
3. After HR when Khushi tells him, I have nothing more to say, now you can keep on yelling and hurting me bematlabke or bina koi wajah and he is hurt to know she thinks he is hurting her and then retors about how she is the reason and how it was to save someone's life
This time too if Arnav tells her it will be because she will talk of her hurt or pain and he is going to let slip something but what is going to catch him unawares is her reaction. And how much worse can he hurt her than by telling her he mistrusted her, thought her capable of wrecking a life when she is mindful of even Lakshmi.
And yes Khushi will give in without a fight because she will not be able to tell him she did it for him. If she is angry at Arnav she will be angry at Shyam too and that reptile is in RM. Staying back will hurt her family so she will need to go back - though I am getting confused due to some of the dialogues. Like that morning after the post HR staircase meltdown when Arnav asked her you should have just told me but Khushi had decided she had nothing more to say and that she will stay out of his life and lead hers with dignity - keep herself busy with her catering service and tuitions and stay out of teh way of both men.
You know what I wnat a Shyam Khushi scene after she returns to RM.

One of the reasons why Khushi will not forgive A easily after him knowing the truth is becos she has no reason to believe that A loves her at all...So, his acceptance after her innocence is proved will not suffice for K. It will be a "khairat" for her, why is beneath her dignity to accept. She will have to be convinced that A loved her well before that..I don't if K will think like that but frankly i would do that... Sab jankar pyaar kiya toh kya pyaar kiya..(We are demanding girls u know!!)

He will be merciless with himself and it will be to stop him from self annhilation that she will forgiev him. Plus somewhere she will also feel she contributed to his hurt by keeping silent and the continued MU.
But if Khushi is smart - which she is - she will realize that the chot he spoke of, him speaking of hamesha hamesh tumse, him speaking of hating her and wanting to see her suffer actually menat he thought she hated him and made him suffer - somewhere befre he opens his mouth and says it - Khsuhi will think back and realize that some of his extremes have been because like the Beast, it was his heart (not as Anji's bro but as someone who loved her) that was hurt and he lashed out. Because La once told her she will understand and she will also realize that he broke up on his engagement because of what he felt for her and did not feel for La.

Everytime, i think of the ARHI story..the contrasts and likeness of the leads just makes me fall in love with then all over again...they are so diff yet so alike...equals in every way..

aww sandy..you are soo sweet! :)) you know, this, more than anything else, might tempt me to the hello hi mode! :P :) and yes, exactly ... even I was wondering that when he says he knows about her and shyam's relationship, does he also mention that he still thinks they are in love with each other? Or just that he knows about them ... which for her might mean only one thing - that he knows that they were engaged some time ago... but then she would also expect him to remember that the engagement was broken, which (in her defense) would automatically put her on an upper pedestal.. or does he also mention that he thinks she wants to get back with shyam, even at the cost of ruining anjali's wedding? Now that will really, REALLY, break her heart and break down ALLL the naunces she built about his character... and of what he thinks about her. Which actually explains the huge extent of her heartbreak..

ReplyDeleteNow what you say Rekha seems a possible same as I thought it would be for the story to be carried for next whole month. They had to give half truth and it wouldn't have been for A to know that TF was PG and the Finac will not take the story much forward because if once Bitwa comes to know about TF he will sure to know all the other parts within no time and what will the CV's have for the next whole month?? And for Bitwa to take a long RTRW it has to be after K knows the truth and still with him, continuing to take what all he gives like Rekha said, he will be more ruthless.
all the scenarios painted seem very plausible, not to mention heart breaking, but wasn't there a spoiler about Bubli's character being introduced to bring ArHi closer? They might start with Khushi's heartbreak and ASR's disquiet but they could use a possible misunderstanding between PayAsh inadvertently caused by Bubli as an eye opener for our favourite feuding couple...............yeah, I know, the weekend is upon us...........conjecture to our heart's content :)

I agree that things cant turn more ugly after Khushi comes to know of the truth. She will not defend herself - partly out of guilt at having not coming clean earlier and partly because of shock and indignation that Arnav would think so little of her knowing how much she values people and relationships. She will serve her 'sentence' without a murmur, infuriating Arnav further as he feels it is a confirmation of her guilt. Things can take an ugly turn if the key issue erupts. Bubbly finding the soap near the pool (where Khushi used to wash her clothes earlier, Khushi forcing him to go to GH on the same day he found her with the wallet which she brought from near the pool and Khushi asking him to count the money (in an apparent bid to throw him offguard about the key) will all make him think that Khushi is in this with Shyam and now the accusations could become open and more vicious, tearing her apart.
ReplyDeleteI guess the big truth about her innocence will come out in a repeat of the terrace scene when she gets cornered by Shyam and this time Arnav hears what he needs to hear.
Khushi may leave after the six months and Arnav will not stop her for he may feel he really does not deserve her. He will punish himself severely for what he did to her. She may return once she comes to know how much he is hurting himself. Two things can happen here depending on how Anjali handles the truth when it hits her. IF she takes it badly and goes into depression, Arnav will get hit twice as hard, first losing his girl and second seeing his sister slip away. He may pull himself through in order to help Anjali and if he is unsuccessful,may ask Khushi to return to RM for Anjali's sake. If Anjali is able to withstand the shock but Arnav is too broken because of his own guilt and Khushi's loss, then Anjali may play cupid and get Khushi back by giving her an insight into what makes Arnav so untrusting. I wouldn't mind seeing either but I can't stand it if they turn Anjali negative.

ReplyDeleteI guess this week will be more of Khushi irritating Arnav, Arnav fitting in with the Guptas more and more, hopefully Buaji or Garima ticking Khushi off, which will have little or no effect, as Khushi is hellbent on getting the truth out of Arnav ... and apparently, finally she will succeed. And then the next phase starts.
More tomorrow, am sleepy now! Will read all the posts and come back with my thoughts ... :)))
Dia ME got delayed again ..... its the new serial ME on 28th and with SI gone for at least 4 to 5 days I don't think there will ME the week next either or if there is one then I don't even want to think of Sobti's health ..... shooting 12 hours or more ..... IPK has the worst BDs ever, don't want them either
DeleteSobti's health? I'm more worried about poor Sanaya's ... traveling all the way to London, then back and shooting to make up for her absence ... most times we've seen even when she's sick or traveling, we still get Khushi scenes, which means she manages to make up her shooting time.
DeleteIn fact, if they knew about this in advance, this is a good time for the MU to clear - a reason for Khushi to stay back in GH for a day or two, and be missing. Let the other characters get some space - the R family question Arnav on why Khushi has not come back with him ... and Arnav to catch Shyam also wondering the same thing, and wonder in his turn why Shyam doesn't seem to know anything about what Khushi is up to. Unless they use the time for the key and locker drama to break, and Arnav to question Shyam and Khushi's complicity in it.
Sobti's health cause I miss calculated the dates thought Sanaya was to leave this week but she is leaving next week .... so he will be fine by then. I do pray for Sanaya's health too, did mention it in your previous post.

Khushi is equally single-minded in her quest - irritate the shit out of HH to get the truth out of him, and she doesn't intend to make him comfortable while she's doing it ... why should she?
Did he bother about her creature comforts when he blackmailed her into marriage? She lived on borrowed clothes for two days till her buaji - HER buaji, mind you, brought her clothes from home. He didn't get her a stick of clothing or any cosmetics. She had to make do with whatever was available - men's shampoo and soap, most likely - he still hasn't bothered about what she needs at RM, although he was quick to order his own tel-sabun at GH.
Heck, he didn't even give her a bed to sleep in the first few days/weeks/whatever it was in IPK time. She had to trick her way in.
He insisted on his own timings for his bath etc - again she had to trick and blackmail her way in.
When he never gave her anything but a hard time, why should she go all soft on him? And he had his reasons, agreed, but so does she ... hers are most straightforward - she wants the truth out of him.
As for bathing outside, maybe for Amma and Buaji it's not such a big deal ... they know it is not the norm for their rich damaad, but for them and their neighbourhood, it's not humiliation. In many lower middle class colonies in Delhi - even in higher class ones, water still comes only at fixed times, the richer people have pumps and tanks fixed to store water, the poorer people store it in buckets and vessels, and they line up at the colony tap to fill water. In many neighborhoods there are still roadside barbers where people go for a shave in public ... I've seen guys bathing under public taps in movies and in real life ...
Travel by bus in Mumbai ... when you cross Dharavi, you can't look out, because people are crapping by the roadside ... in a very high class area I lived in Mumbai, I couldn't look out of my window for the same reason.
So if Khushi's motive is to show him how the other half live, she's just doing a good job of it, that's all. Till a few years ago, when my kids visited India, they had to be careful when they could switch on one AC if the other on the same phase was on, ask for the booster pump to be put on when they went for their shower - initially they found it very strange, then they adapted beautifully.
And in 5 star hotels on beaches, there are taps outside for people to shower before they go in so that they don't track sand inside - everyone bathes in public - we've seen topless bathing beauties too ;) - Bitwa just has to imagine himself in his Bali hotel in Dilli :)))
The only thing is - if Bitwa went through this phase when he was thrown out of his house by his chacha, it should be familiar to him, and that might actually be another reason why he isn't grumbling too much - because he's been there, done that - unlike the bigda Raizada that Khushi imagines him to be. So this could be used to throw his past in Khushi's face - or keep it for later, when she discovers his past, for her to reflect on - how easily and uncomplainingly he adapted to all the discomforts, because he had been through them. Depends on whether the cv's have thought this through - they might have, considering that ASR's character is the one they have expended the most thought on. If this is all just to show how he becomes a mouse when he's in love, I will be disappointed.

And for me being irked I just cannot forget a small incident (similar crisis) that took place at my hometown where I had to drag 4 buckets of water along with my cousin for JEEJU as his beloved SAAS's won't allow their precious DAMAAD go out and take bath at pump (personal and other male of the family uses it regularly during their visits).... BIL did offer to move out but when he heard his sale and sali were at task .... he needed not 1 but 4 buckets

DeleteI lived for nine years in hostel when I was studying, we had common bathrooms at the end of the corridor, and we used to lug buckets around with hot water in the winters because invariably one or the other geyser wasn't not working. And walked up and down corridors carrying our buckets, soap, towels, clothes, the works :)
It was never a big deal, it was a perennial problem and we dealt with it the best way we could. Didn't even think about it, to be honest!
My daughter has had an en suite bathroom all her life, as long as she can remember, that is - now in college, she shares a loo with five other girls, the bathroom is in the common area of the apartment, and she carries her bucket and toiletries to it every day - it's not big enough to keep six sets of toiletries, besides everyone is possessive about their stuff. And this is in the US. She grumbled a bit at the beginning, now she's used to it.
The point is, it's not humiliating, unless you make it feel so in your own mind.

It is all a matter of respecting that if the other person is ok with it - u need not mock it even if u r not comfy with the idea - Recall Nani's words - just bcos it is not important to you does not mean it is not important to anyone else. Money and ego are important to Arnav and her self-respect and honour are important to Khushi.

It's also a matter of 'when in Rome, do as the Romans do', I guess ... in this neighborhood, it doesn't matter to anyone if someone takes a bath under a handpump ... heck, Arnav had no qualms doing that Pehelwan type kasrat just to prove a point to his biwi ... and the pehelwans were all too happy to welcome him ... if one of his fancy gym buddies had seen him there, they would have ribbed him to no end.
I actually have very happy memories of my internship days, we spent three months in villages, and we had great fun in even more rustic surroundings - the villagers used to respect us even though we were just lowly interns, and we used to get fabulous treatment - numbu pani in the middle of OPD, eating sugar cane in the fields, being offered adrak chai everywhere we went - mazaa aata tha! And they all loved it when we had no airs and accepted their hospitality happily.
This is something I learned from my dad too - he was the head honcho in his company for years, and the way he interacted with everyone from senior-most to junior-most, never making anyone feel inferior, and happy to adapt to all circumstances. And if you saw him he looked like a gora, he was tall, fair and always suited booted, very sophisticated looking.

DeleteWell they do say that to get teh true measure of a person, see how he treats those less fortunate / junior (I would not like to use the wrod inferior here) to him and not how he behaves with his peers or superiors.
Arnav will relaize that though the Guptas lack a lot of comforts in life and are not affluent, their aim is not to earn more money or to become rich quickly and get out of these surroundings. They acknowlegde their lifestyle has shortcomings but they are fine with it.
DeleteIf Arnav thought that by removing financial support from his KJ, Khushi will leave him because she wanted the money he had thanks to Anjali - Arnav has to rethink and learn a lesson in humility. Essential for his ego.
When this does not deter Khushi in any manner is when Arnav will wonder about whether she seeks KJ out each time or is it always KJ who was chasing her.
As for KJ, money and the power that ASR has is what he wants. He is like Sauron - the ruler of Mordor - what he wants is that one ring to rule them all. Cutting off his financial resources is just like shoowitng an arrow at one of Ravana's many heads. To truly destroy KJ, it is his nectar of immortality - the faith Anjali has in him that needs to be emptied.
When Ravana had Sita imprisoned in Ashok Van, he tried to mesmerize her with his riches but it only bound her more to Rama. KJ tries to impress Khushi with his concern unknowing that he is only paving the way for a time when she will be able to favourably judge Arnav's character - for he did not cross any limits of honour even when he was married to her (disgust, forced marriage all set aside). Whereas KJ though married still tries to get physically close to her. The Arnavrekha is more the code of honour Arnav has established for himself when it comes to Khushi.

I was just thinking about a time when Khushi will realize that though she was his wife and he could have claimed marital rights he did not touch her in an intimate manner as a husband(disregard all the RV people). But Shyam never lost an opportunity to touch her even when she expressly told him not to. He kept crossing limits while Arnav did not.
Like I said its just something in me that bubbled up when I was thinking about other things.

DeleteIn fact, as the story goes, at first he hated her (then he pulled off her dori), then got interested in her( then he did touch her.. almost kissed her) then he fell in love with her (gave her a high (idol) position, so could not touch her excuse the caresses, theyre part of the feeling)) and then he saw her betrayal, so dint want to touch her, then surrendered his heart to her.. now why is he not touching her again? and what was that wasit-hold before HR? and the 2001 picking her up-s??
okay okay, he did not * her.. but that hardly shows anything.. could be he hates her, so dont want to touch her, as khushi believes right now.

I agree, when u visit another place, there will always be things that u may to adapt to...that are below/above ur station....
ASR and K are from diff backgrounds...somewhere his mental adjustment(for want of a better word) to this stark fact had be done, and frankly my view is that...this could not have been done at a time when he will actually to earn Khushi's love later becos that time, his pain will be so much that all these aspects will not bother him and he may internalised it by then.
My other view is that I doubt Gupta folks will know anything now becos if they do, it will be strange if they don't intervene to sort matters out. It will paint them as very selfish people who are not concerned abt Khushi at all..so, my guess is that this GH interlude is stage set for Arnav to return with greater understanding of them as righteous people (yes, they erred but they also had a reason to hide)when he will know the truth.

ReplyDeletethen I read what dia wrote, and thought okay.. then I went out for some errands.. and eureka! sometime back, there was a scene in DABH where the couple had to bathe each other as part of some rasam after holi.. which is when they firssst touched each other.. so will somebody ask her to bathe him? will khushi see what is right in front of her face? the HH? or will it be another dabba ve?
Sanaya remarked in today's SBS that Khushi is NOT doing it to teach Arnav a lesson - she's just doing this to show him this is how the low aukat people live, and they still are happy with all their problems and difficulties.
ReplyDeleteSo I guess as Rekha remarked above, this GH interlude is for that purpose - just to make Arnav understand the values of the so-called middle class people, and what they value as important - feelings and family values, that they all gloss over their own discomfort for his comfort, hide it with a smile - and this will help him to understand Khushi's POV when the full truth emerges.
Dia, another thing that strikes me is the differences in their backgrounds and the fact that it is also an important part of their story.
DeleteMany times, love stories tend to gloss over these differences (its almost as if it is understood that love overpowers everything...and all those cliches!)but if such a story had to happen in real life....these differences will stand up for scrutiny. A rich damaad will at some time visit his poor sasural...what happens then? such a man may love his wife very much, at the same time, its not necessary that he will always be comfortable in her poor environs...but just to paint the guy all gud cinematiclaly...it may be shown that he is right at home...
So to take it up in that context, i actually like the idea of CVs to set about that path..I may have complaints abt how the scene per se is worked out, in terms of detailing, plausibility stuff like that...but its not a bad idea to go along the path, IMO
