5/6 - Epi 268 ... Desperation

Tuesday 5th June

Will this be Terrific Tuesday and run into 200+ comments? Doubt it, but let's see ;)

Quick update - today after many days, I cried while watching an episode. Khushi's desperation, her fear, her anguish, her pain ... And Mami was fantastic with her ... what a team! These two are such good actresses - comedy and serious - they can do both ends of the spectrum equally beautifully. Utkarshaji was fabulous - never once out of character, yet the change in attitude towards Khushi so beautifully shown ... and the scene between them was so well done that I never realised how the episode ended!

Payash were okay ... felt sorry for Payal, quite a true to life situation for her ...

Anjali and her hysterics ... as usual ... and Shyam materialises just after mysterious phone call again. And at least now they have a valid reason to not tell the rest of the family ... wasn't that one of our shiddats for the week?

The scenes today were very well knit, enough detailing done ... made obvious that when they're not working with limited hours, the team can do great. Unfortunately with Barun's limited shooting time, his scenes, his track and the Arhi scenes get rushed and hurried ... today's episode when he was not there at all, was very well-paced.

Repeat watch - repeat verdict - very good episode. Details added, loopholes and cracks filled in, well, all those that can be filled in without Arnav's side of the story ...

Khushi wakes up in the morning with aching head ... sees the little pot of fireflies ... the one supremely happy moment they shared in complete empathy ... and cries 'why did you give yourself up to save me?'... and determination back almost instantly - 'I will get you back, no matter what I have to do ...' and first idea strikes - go back to the place he was held earlier.
Two knocks on the head haven't done her much harm ... but still, poor girl!

Mamiji is actually worrying about something other than her paint powder and nail polish ... love the way they have evolved Mami's character - they started her off as black, with her tricks on Khushi and Payal, and have slowly and steadily evolved her into a great character, tough and prickly on the outside, but sharp as steel and with her heart in the right place ...
So Mami annoyed that Khushi didn't bother to call her ... dishipline naam ki bhi konu cheez howat hai ... to mask her genuine worry ... and why is she unabailable ...
A cute conversation, filled with masked barbs between Buaji and Mamiji ... I was remembering you ... really, why? ... actually, not really, just said it for politeness' sake =))
Mami learns that Khushi never reached her maternity home yesterday ... and manages to hide the fact that now there is a second member of the R family missing, from both buaji and Anjali ...
And Mamiji is now seriously worried ... where is Phati saree ... and is she all right? Concern now for Khushi, not only for Arnav ...

Khushi reaches the warehouse ... first I wondered how she could find it, considering she was unconscious when taken there, but remembered she left there in full consciousness ... :)
And kidnappers have been rather lax ... they probably didn't go back to the warehouse after capturing Arnav again, so Khushi finds her purse and phone ... so Arnav will not see the papers in her phone ... will Khushi?
Khushi decides to go to the police ... then stops ... go back home first instead and tell the family ...

Where Mami is worrying ... where did Phati Saree go, wents, gone?! And she also thinks about the police ... then decides she has to tell the family first ... one member missing was bad enough, now there are two missing ... what if they are in danger ...

Family having breakfast ... Mami missing Khushi, she's been gone for 24 hours ... so she starts to tell the family ... Attention puleej ...
One liner from Mami - saasuma, kabhi toh serious ho jaayiye, yeh jokes nahin hai ... and Nani's face =))
 Anjali starts getting hyper already ...
Mamis starts ... she called Khushi's maternity home ...
Mamiji ...?
Do not interruptions puleej ...
Nani - Khushi bitiya?
Mami - aap hamare munh ke bhirds chheen liye ...
Mamiji ... again, and this time Mami turns to see a very worried Khushi standing there ... and Mami can't hide her concern and worry ... are you all right?
And everyone is flummoxed - why did Manorama think Khushi would not be all right?
Anjali and Payal see her dirty clothes, and they get worried ... are you okay?
And Khushi starts to tell about Arnav, prompted by Mami ... the moment Khushi mentions Arnav, the phone rings and the death threat comes ... 'He's alive now, but tell anyone about Arnav and he dies.'

So Khushi keep quiet, tells a hyper Anjali lies about Arnav's phone call, he's okay, he will be back soon ... Mami knows she's lying but keeps quiet ... Shyam enters just as the phone call ends and keeps a narrow eye on Khushi, helping to reassure and calm a panicky Anjali ...

Am not one to notice positions much but this did strike me ... Khushi was backed by Mami and Payal, while Anjali fired questions at her, Shyam standing between Khushi and Anjali ... Nani stayed in the background - so did Akash ...for now.
So Shyam with his smooth word play, will create the rift between Anjali and Khushi ... Mami will back Khushi, Payal of course ditto, as she knows Shyam's truth ... Nani and Akash haven't taken their positions yet ... neither so far, has Arnav ...

Nani asks how Khushi's clothes got dirty, Khushi fumbles, Mami covers for her in her usual caustic manner, and Khushi smiles at her gratefully ... Shyam notices the byplay, but does he suspect the changed equation yet, or does he accept the taunt at its usual face value?

And Khushi is so worried, she actually refuses to eat ...
Nani asks Manorama what she wanted to say ... Manorama also covers with a story about water problem in GH ... so now Shyam knows that Mami does know something about Khushi and is hiding it ...

Khushi back in her room ... (attention to detail here, her phone on its charger =D> ) ... worried sick, wondering what to do ... not to fear, Manorama is here!
'What are you hiding? You didn't go home last night ... I was going to tell everyone, but you came and told lies again ... what are you hiding from me, your inveshtigating partner? Not fair!'
And Khushi is so relieved to have someone she can share her burden with ... as Mami just confirmed she's still her partner ... loved that heartfelt hug as Khushi cries on Mami's shoulder, and a startled Mami comforts her, but in her own inimitable Mami style ... 'No more tears puleej' :)  

Again attention to detail ... smart Mami shuts the door ... thank God, otherwise more people would have come into Mumbai Central for sure ... ;)
And Khushi tells her everything ...how she met Arnav, ... being knocked out, meeting him, the great escape and the recapture ... he knocked her out and gave himself up to save her ... how she wishes she had managed to fight, knock him out instead ...
And they can't tell anyone because of the threatening phone call ... so now finally they have a reason to not tell the rest of the family ...
Khushi is distraught ... what can they do?! She wants him back, here, home safe and sound ...
Mami gives her strength ... firmly, calm good sense, consoling Khushi, really acting the loving, supportive mother figure here, as much concerned for Khushi as for Arnav, as she sees Khushi's worry and love for Arnav, and also reads Arnav's love for Khushi - he gave himself up to save Khushi ... 'we'll bring him back ... but right now is not the time to shed tears, it's the time to take care of yourself ...'
Khushi doesn't listen ... too distraught ... almost rivalling Anjali in her panic ... 'I shouldn't have let him go, he hit me, I should have fought him, I should have hit him instead ...' 
Mami doesn't raise a single eyebrow at Khushi's hitherto unsuspected violent tendencies ... 'doesn't matter, you did your best  ... now we both will try together, and we will succeed for sure ... Manorama detective is with you ... and we will win ... kidnappers bye bye ...'

Payal giving imitation of Mrs Bhappi Lahiri ... she needs a crash course in how to attend office parties - feel sympathy for her, though ... but just open your mouth and ask for juice, woman!

ArHi Holi acceptance scenes
