Bit of a filler episode ... Khushi-Mami bonding continues, NK arrives and senses immediately that Khushi is not the same ... Cute gift, and it's nice to see NK back, hope he joins the investigating duo soon.
Wonder of wonders, Anjali noticed the Khushi-Mami bonding ... or her BD did - why do they need BD's for Anjali of all people? And this one was so obvious!!! Anyway, didn't really matter.
Mami and Khushi continue investigations ... now move on to tattoos ... Mami's expressions when going through the albums and her comment 'kahan kahan tattoo karwate hain" ... very similar to my reactions :))
And I continue to enjoy the dynamic duo ... even in timepass scenes, they act well and are worth watching. Will they get a name and address from the last tattoo parlour? Also Khushi's little flashbacks and her ever-present worry for Arnav well shown in her expressions :) as was Mami's genuine worry for Arnav.
Payash actually have a track worth mentioning - the social difference between Akash and Payal ... was wondering whether Payal would ask about Khushi's visit to her maayka just the day before, but Payal is too bothered about her own problems to worry about her obviously upset sister ... big loophole here after their earlier bonding ...
Precap - so we're finally getting somewhere - Khushi runs into one of the kidnappers ... is this his uniform, and does he wear it all the time?

Like I said, pretty much a filler episode, but it set the foundation for the track ahead ... which is hopefully! the last phase of the kidnapping drama.
Khushi and Mami realize the seriousness of the situation - glad that Mami pointed out that now Khushi was in danger as well, as she had seen the kidnappers and could identify them, so she can't go back there alone ... they might try to catch her. Makes it all the more strange that they didn't put in more of an effort to find her that night. Maybe they did, and obviously couldn't - as they thought she had run away, while she was very much there in the hut. But this sets the stage for Mami to insist that Khushi not go alone anywhere, either she or NK will accompany her.
NK's re-entry ... what I liked was that while all the drama was going on about his mysterious entry, Khushi and Mami were shown to continue talking ... which they did ... such good actresses, both of them ... they were probably talking about the weather or dinner :)) but they kept the right expressions and kept the conversation going all through ...
Blooper here ... thought NK was giving Mami blank calls? But he was playing a prank, so why did he bother calling? And they didn't show him trying to call, his hands were busy with the toy knife ...
NK says he was the one calling ... both Mami and Khushi relieved ... it was him?! They thought it was the kidnappers again ... NK sees immediately that Khushi has changed, not a smile on her face, she didn't even correct his Hindi ... he asks about Arnav and Khushi tears up again, Mami comforts her in her usual way ... 'no more tearz, puleejz' ... but nods understandingly when Khushi wants a little time to herself ... sweet! First the La-Khushi bond, now this one - two unlikely alliances, and both have such sweetness in them, more so because it's so unexpected ...
Payal is mistaken for a cleaning woman ... really?! With those kilos of jewelry on her? Although done better than most soaps - the society women were condescendingly sweet, rather than bitchy ...
Family re-union ... Anjali helped NK with his re-entry prank, Anjali actually saw Mami-Khushi bonding ... wow! She's not completely blind then ... except to her reptilewa husband!

Akash Payal ... he mentions a business woman with admiration, Payal feels more and more inadequate ... they go to GH. Akash is a sweet hubby, but pretty clueless as to what's going on in his wife's head.
Payal cries on Buaji's shoulder, she realises the social difference between her and Akash, but has no clue how to deal with it. A realistic track for Payash for once, hope they deal with it well. Though I thought Payal might ask about Khushi's visit, but Payal is too caught up in her own problems. Vaise, if she continues to follow Mami's dressing up code, she has problems all right. With Mami's kilos of jewelry, you need Mami's attitude as well.
Khushi and Mami check out the warehouse, but find no clues ... except for memories ... Mami shows her concern for Arnav again ...

Setting up the scene for the final chapter in the kidnapping drama ... though it will be stretched till Sobti boy is back full time to IPK, as he is needed for the aftermath ...
Also, as per the promo, setting up for Shyam's truth to emerge to a few more people in the house, maybe all of them. Especially with Khushi going back to Devi Maiyya, and DM stepping into action promptly ...
NK and Mami will be on Khushi's side. NK as a recent re-entry to the house, already noticed Khushi's change of mood, won't be long before she and Mami confide in him or he finds out, I would think. He also caught a glimpse of Shyam's anger when he mentioned Arnav Khushi looking good together at the sangeet.
Mami now ready to trust Khushi, she has seen the extent of Khushi's love for Arnav, and also knows that Arnav cares for Khushi, that he gave himself up for her sake. Mami is also the only one to ever have remarked on Shyam's frequent absences from RM, and also noticed his anger at the ArHi wedding.
Payal will be on Khushi's side about the Shyam truth, of course ... how much difference she makes, don't know, as she is no use alone. But Arnav has regard for her ...
Akash ... not sure ... but he tends to follow his brother's lead faithfully ...
Nani ... trusts Khushi, knows she cannot tell lies, has seen her love and worry for Arnav ... but has seen no signs of Shyam's double face. Will be impartial, may take some time to accept his truth.
Anjali ... will not believe Khushi.
Arnav ... will believe Khushi (fingers crossed) ... might pretend not to, to elicit the entire truth from Shyam.
Might lead to a rift between Anjali and Arnav, with Khushi having to leave RM. Will Arnav leave with her?
Celebrating the first year anniversary of the show - 6th June 2011 - 6th June 2012.=D> =D> =D>
Hope it goes from strength to strength and continues entertaining us for a long time to come.

So my guess is when Arhi do meet, it will be on June 6th as per IPK Narnia land.
NK was soothing.
Mami was at her best. And I loved loved how the family is finally being brought back in focus. Okay granted Garima and Bauji were not there but if you think about it practically the whole family was there except maybe Shyam in today's episode.
And WT*, It was their anniversary couldnt they invite the whole cast and crew or release a picture of the cast and crew celebrating on the D day. They will ofcourse be celebrating it later probably on weekend but still they could have planned this ahead and put up a pic.

Aaru: Dont take it seriously, it is one of those possible tracks the cvs let out to check audience reaction, waisay bhi if that gets shown, we cant do a damn thing.
I heard about it in the redux, didnt pay much attention.
If they show another MU, ASR is an even bigger idiot than I thought. But chances are he will pretend to believe Shyam and bid his time, lull Shyam into complacency.

Aaru, At Redux one member has a friend in the media members and she gets some inside info, the news even before trps were released officially that star was happy with the response IPK got for the last promo and in exactly 2 weeks we are in for a major twist which they are hoping will bring back the show again in TRP TOPper.

So this week it should be decent on Monday. CVs I guess are working on the twist track 2 weeks from hence when Barun will finally be back on 22nd...So let us see.
Yep, I was happy with the episode, it went with the flow of the story and was mainly to ease NK into the act as well as build towards the final unmasking of the kidnappers. I'm also glad the cv's didn't succumb to any pressure to make the episode 'special' ... they just kept going with the essence of the story ... which right now is all about Mami-Khushi pursuing the kidnappers ...

I'm quite keen to see how NK gets into the act ... he's already noticed that Khushi is not her usual self - my guess is that he will overhear some vital conversation between Mami and Khushi just as Khushi is about to set out on some dangerous escapade, and will accompany her on the final run in.

DeleteI saw the TRP post - it reached 3.1 on Friday, and I think 3 or 3.1 on Tuesday. The other days it was 2.8, so averaged out to 2.9. So an improvement from last week - was last week the week of IPL semi-finals? Then the improvement was bound to happen. It needs to keep going p now, that's all.
DeleteFrom the SBS, Barun is still shooting on IPK, maybe he's doing all his solo scenes for the final fight now - that's what they showed on SBS - while Sanaya and NK do the family ones ... so that those are ready and canned ... then later he coordinates with Sanaya and NK for the last few ... again, right now, he's not really needed, but if he was there, they could have shown his side of the picture as well ... and that would have worked very well, rounded out the picture, even if they kept the identity of the main kidnapper hidden.
Am not feeling kindly disposed to his movie at all!!!

If they are going to make Arnav hate khushi after he telling her ILU, and almost committing the Big C, it would be worst if they show K getting hurt and he MU her again. It’s going to ruin the character.. He can pretend as we said.. But they can't keep that as suspense.. They need to show for at least for viewers sake that he is pretending it.. If they show the whole hate thing without proper motive - If ASR believes Shyam once more then ASR would be the biggest idiot I have ever known. And when are we going to have RTRW ?? And if you see logically if Arnav believes Shyam and MU’s Khushi – the hate should actually be from her side and not Btiwa?.
Delete"my ASR is much smarter than the show's ASR" too true.. and sad, shwetha. from the offscreen videos i saw, it seems that the current director and barun are good friends.. and that means barun gets more leeway in acting his part.. my personal opinion is that the "new" ASR body language is a result of this friendship... the original character sketch has gone missing.. this is one of the main reasons for the lack of intensity too, somehow i think that barun and sanaya act more like roommates instead of lovers these days.. maybe i am wrong, but the thought does not go away.

Jaya, the current director aka Arshad Khan has been with the show from the start. He was the one who directed the rain scene, bandagement scene, holi confession, Diwali, Arnav breaking down and Arnav finding out about Khushi's engagement and so on....
DeleteSo he has been from the very beginning and has directed some fabulous scenes and episodes. The problem is post marriage, the story went for a toss, Barun had already started his rehearsals for the movie and so everything went for a toss.
Believe me I am not letting him off the hook at all, My shiddat for someone whacking him from my side is pretty strong cos he seems to be a bit lost.
But have to say in his support, He can only direct what is given to him and with Barun for the past 2 months, they are in a hurry to get the shots done, so if you notice they shoot Barun's close shots first, long shots of him and Sanaya and then Sanaya/Barun shoot with the BD. So in all this confusion, execution goes for a toss.
The last 2 episodes have been very good cos all the actors are in the set and there are not fighting against time as they usually are. They still have atleast 2 episodes in bank at the moment, so the quality shows.
And I agree with you though, things need to be tightened from the director's end. ASR went for a toss cos they didnt know how they were supposed to play him at GH and hence he ended up looking shabby plus Barun looked so damn tired in those days.
Look at him now, he looks like he is getting sufficient rest, so I hope the director gets the actor to watch ASR's initial scenes so he gets the Sukhi guy out of his system and brings ASR back.

DeleteJaya, I do understand what you're getting at, but I don't think that the original character sketch of ASR has gone missing. If you watch some of the old videos, he has always been shown to turn to mush with Di and even with La, he was never deliberately cruel. When La came for the Teej pooja looking like a clown, he never put her down, he just shared one ironic look with Anjali, and then told La she looked nice.
DeleteAnd there HAS to be a change, more softness with Khushi once he's in love with her, otherwise what's the whole point if he stays the same? The point of the story is to show the inner Arnav emerging from the cold shell of ASR - a shell he grew to protect himself from the world because he lost all trust and faith in love and God - he emerges because of Khushi's love, so there has to be change in him.
What was the old Arnav like? We only have glimpses - we know he was a prankster, we know he always had a temper, he had difficulty in expressing his feelings, but always tried to protect the ones he loved ... and we've seen him being totally mushy with Di, worrying about her, fussing over her, being over-protective ... he's doing the same and even more with Khushi ... which is good. I would hate it if Di always came first and Khushi second - to my mind, Khushi has to come first for him, which means he should be even softer with her than with Anjali.
And I don't think they're acting like roommates ... in fact, in the Friday and Monday scenes, I felt they were more like a married couple than ever before ... not just the romantic scene, but they way they came out of it when they heard the kidnappers ... neither were guilty or embarrassed about what they were doing, she was desperate to stay with him still, he was only scared for her safety, he knew she wouldn't agree to leave ... even after that very intense moment they shared ... as though they accepted what had happened between them completely.
ASR was this "bad boy" whose main attraction is his arrogance. (we dont like arrogant guys in real life, but LOVE to watch Arrogant Successful guys on screen..) and the love he had for his Di.. wow.
Deletenow i understand that he loves khushi and will love her just like he loves his di, (actually more than Di) but the arrogance that was ASR is lost.. even to his employees he is just another man now.. before, his staff used to fear him.. now, uff. even the canteenwala comes and scolds him! he is just another SP husband now.. the larger than life persona that ASR had, is lost forever.
this is what i meant when i say ASR's body language changed. in fact, it changed the first time he showed his love.. back in december.
another thing, his di is quite soft with him, so he is, in turn, very caring towards her... he speaks the language that di speaks,(in their emootions) to be exact.
khushi is not a blushing violet..yes, she may be clumsy but she is strong enough to take the full arnav/ASR combo... i would like to see that explosive chemistry when they meet.. not the "i will take care of you.. i will let you take care of me" sappy love story.
which is why i liked the bit where she blasted him off at the mesh window when they met in the dungeon. IMO, she should have pushed him (like in the guesthouse convo) AFTER the hug and asked him why he did not tell the truth on the phone. continued pestering him till he said "Khushi, shut up!" instead of the lily-livered asking and telling.
before, she used to irritate him till he blew his top.. and then he would have to calm down and apologize (or something.. ) after gupta house, arnav is all fluff.. never takes offence etc etc. khushi was astonished at his MO change, so much that she thought stupid thoughts and planned to suicide before he killed her.
Dia, i get that he is treating her like he would treat his Di.. but my point is, khushi is different.. her place in his heart should not be the same... and his love should reflect that!!!

they fell in love very recently.. after he got kidnapped, in fact.. she had her realization, (i assume)he had his realization..and then what happened?
i am not talking about intimate scenes at all.. not the hug, not the foreplay... i am talking about the intensity of emotional connection there! yes, it was fully present in the 'i love you".. even in two different rooms, barun and sanaya portrayed it brilliantly.. and that is one of the reasons i did not like the hut.. the intensity was simply not there... because of the BDs, i expect.

DeleteI read your posts on the ASR character change.....while i agree the audience has been let down in their experience of watching a romance as u rightly put between a "lit fuse and a firecracker", i think the greater reason has been the absence of the lead in parts that required deft handling and the reason for the shoddy handling of the ASR character in the GH epis was the poor planning due to the Sobti movie bomb....
we got the feeling that things were being rushed and therefore the fire that we thot would build kind of fizzled out...an example the kiss in the barn...
that it was still searing on screen is a testimony to the pair and the CV/diectors joint efforts to salvage a diffi situation.
On ASR charater per se.....i would still go by Dia's points...
There will be changes.....I believe when the strong types fall in love, they fall irrevocably in love....they do get mushy...as it is new feeling for them..I do trust the CVs to maintain that balance altho i hope they are able to maintain the track they really wanted to show...Gul's vision to be translated in deed and spirit..
with all these unconfirmed spoiler news, i don't know how they are going to do all that but i hope they keep the gud work going
Yep, probably the BD's did take away the intensity ... but if they had started fighting right after the hug, I would have been far more upset ... with gundas chasing them, and them running for their lives, it was no time to pick a fight. I liked the way they had that little squabble through the grill ... very natural ... when you're worried sick about someone and you see them, and they're perfectly fine, the first thing you do in your relief is to shout at them ... but after that, the fight with the gunda happened, then the hug, then they had to run for their lives ... nope, another fight or a push would not have worked there for me. There was no time for it, they barely came out of the hug and ran.
DeleteAnd after that in the hut, they just got a safe haven for a brief time ... after running for their lives ... again, a time to revel in what they had and thought they had almost lost forever without even having really had it at all ... the smiles in the firefly scene were simply beautiful ... Arnav seeing her finally as the girl he loves, the one who's happy with the simple pleasures of life ...
The argument when the gundas catch up with them was in place ... and I agree, that one didn't have the intensity their usual fights do - maybe because it was all shot with BD's.
So I am willing to give them some more time ... so far, I haven't felt any scenes out of place or too mushy ... though I would expect a scene when she reaches him again, where he blasts her for coming after him again when it was so dangerous ... but only once they are back home and safe and sound, not before.
But if she does get hurt, I wonder whether that will happen.
i quite liked today's episdoe...! arnav's absence didnt bug me...loved that mami and khushi resume full detective mode again, khushi deducing that the man is from delhi, that was good :)

NK was a refreshing change with his hysteric hinglish ;p loved that he gave her a wedding gift...it was sweet considering he had a crush on her ;)(felt like telling shyam 'learn from him, u VLR creep!' but creeps will always be creeps!
was literally laughing at mami's reaction to the myriad pictures of tatoos..."kaise kaise tatoojh banavat hai..!" :D
and the mami version of the 'needle in a haystack' saying was too good! "samundar me 2 rupeej ka coin!" ROFL!
overall epi was quite good for me...had the inevitable payash filler but that didnt irritate me much as it used to before..

Tanve: Ditto, I didnt miss Arnav too for straight 2 epis cos the epis delievered. There were no glaring bloopers and no rush to shoot the scenes with the actor and its BDs. So in that sense, I am perfectly okay if he doesnt tapkofy till 22nd..
DeleteI am liking Payash, finally the contrast is coming into being about their status differences, though Akash could have guided her better.
I always and If I remember correctly we all once discussed what if Bitwa had to take Khushi to a party, how would it be. And I guess this is where Akash and Arnav differ.
Akash kept quiet about Payash turning out as a jewellery shop model and would have made her feel comfy. He let her go as she thought fit and let her feel uncomfy later.
Arnav on the other hand would have corrected then and there and said go with something simple. Arnav would have made sure Khushi would have fit in.
Today actually was the first time the Payash scenes didn't seem like complete fillers to me - there was actually the making of a sensible track there. And I also liked the car conversation where Akash talks about his colleague's wife, who's set up a business of her own, and Payal gets insecure ...
DeleteMind it, I strongly doubt Akash would want Payal to do the same ... he always wanted a simple, gharelu wife, and he's got her.
If it had been Arnav, I think Arnav would be different, he would very happy for Khushi to do something with her life, and he would encourage her ... the little touch of his wanting the office staff to call her Ma'am, and not Bhabhiji, makes me feel that. And he would guide Khushi better too ... although Khushi seems to have an innately simpler dress sense than Payal ...
Dia, exactly, I couldnt help wondering how would Arhi be in that same situation.

Shwetha, Dia, agree that payash scenes are seeming realistic now...the status differences are beginning to hit payal now that they are over their honeymoon newly-married stage...but i feel that payal should have a little more self-confidence...yes, Arhi in the situation would be totally different not just because of Arnav but also because of khushi..she doesnt try to blend in much nor does she stand out much...she mixes in without losing her 'khushi' flavor...i remember she faced a similar situation in the 'videsi me desi tadka' episode...the once in which arnav throws a cocktail party for payash and khushi brings her own zing to it :)

Tanvee, Payal has always been the quiet, less confident one, and Khushi the more confident sister ... in the cocktail party, Khushi blended in with the guests, accepted their congratulations gracefully, even in the Diwali party ages back, Khushi was comfortable in the high society atmosphere ... she is very confident in her own skin and it shows in such scenes. While Payal has always been shown to be timid and scared ...
DeleteThat also reflects in the attitude of the sisters - Payal has always been the stay-at-home types, while Khushi has been the go-getter and always able to talk to anyone and everyone - from setting up the halwai business, interacting with the Raizadas, talking to the office staff and Shuklaji ...
So this track is actually very realistic for Payal ... it wouldn't work with Khushi, because Khushi has a lot of self-confidence, which Payal lacks.
i love that payal finally has a socially relevant role that many in the audience will identify with..

DeleteA complete filler episode for me. May be I am a dreamer who always wanted a memorable anniversary epi, which it wasnt. I guess its CVs style to always underplay special occasions. Like what they did on V-day. I mean contrary to the Arshi romance they had the forced marriage. Nevertheless, it was one heck of a V-day episode. Todays was the most feeka one I found.
ReplyDeleteThats why I miss the hero of the show so much I guess, and thats where my desperation and annoyance at his absence lies. I saw SBS, poor SI was sad that no-one except mami was there for the anniversary. And then showed BS saying some random stuff. I actually liked Akshay's tweets about the show, with pics (saw on IF). See this guy is smart, even without too much screen presence, he makes his presence felt by connecting to the audience.
And some people have all the screen presence but are hellbent on making it a waste.
I need to keep reminding myself Sukhi- this is just fiction, everyone has lives beyond the show.
Despite fab acting by the cast, I cant stick to the kidnapping track till 22nd June. They got to wrap this kidnapping thing max by next week and get moving.
And a BIG SHIDDAT -I want all the cast and crew celebrating the big year mark. Its not a trivial thing and they have done a marvelous job so far compared to a lot of currently running shows.

Sukhi, hope so! I think someone mentioned they were going to cut a cake ... not the SBS one, but one from the PH or channel. They WILL have a bash, I think - one year and a very successful year, being in the top ten pretty consistently is a big deal, especially at that time slot.
DeleteBut a special episode - no, I wasn't expecting that - they did give some romance in the anniversary week, and that was enough ... basically put in because BS was in and out, otherwise it's stupid to have a kidnapping track in instalments.
I think like I said above, Barun will finish off his solo shots whenever he comes in to shoot this week and next, the fight scenes etc, so by the time he's ready to get back full time, they just have to shoot the final climax scenes ... I hope they do it that way, I don't want BD's in the climax scenes. Everything else is ok, but not in the close ArHi scenes - the actors take their cues from each other and they don't emote so well with BD's.
Dia, Anniversary will be the day they will meet again. I think we are in for a dialogue from him pucca, do you remember we met on the same day last year.

2. manorama says its been 24 hours since khushi went.. in the morning.
3.the KN thinks she escaped via window...he called RM and asked for khushi, and warned her.. how did he know that the girl was khushi? however he knows, is KN not scared that she will identify him?
4. sham comes down the steps and thinks nothing of the fact that khushi is covering for arnav .. "he called, he ate his meds... "does sham (looks as releived as anjali there) already know that khushi was captured?
5. anjali, in her histronics, says arnav did not call me even once.. in fact, we all know he did..

ReplyDeleteJaya- Our leads are so comfy working with each other, that their offscreen comfort spills as onscreen couples who are more of room mates lol..And our hero really is behaving like that Suki guy from the movie. His body language is like him anyways.
I keep dreaming of various scenarios of ASR's redemption, thats all I care now. Khusi ne bahut seh liya, ab ASR ki bari hai.. All kinds of weird thoughts I get- Khushi getting mordernised and becomes a successful business magnate and ASR trying to woo her, she hating ASR, she goes away from his life has a child (Ramayan story)..I just so sound like IF girls.
Please CV plan a good track and dont trust BS too much I am telling you, he will go off again. So plan a Khushi centric track with the leeway for a new love interest just in case ASR has to go away!!!
I like NKs reentry..hopefully the drama is filled with humor another selling point of this show.

1. Mami- Payal bahu bonding in a small way.
2. Gives credibility to Payal’s character. All the while when nani and Di were worried about K-A, Payal was kept busy with Babli. She hardly had the time to notice what was happening to K.
3. With y’day’s epi- Babli track laid the foundation for Payal’s insecurity.
