Title suggested by hubby dear after watching yesterday's episode and the promo ... :)
That was quick! Re-marriage on the cards barely a week after Dadi's arrival ... the lady sure got things all stirred up!
So Bitwa was back to his old habits ... go off on long solitary drive and leave wife to face the music ... not this time, fortunately, because just as the music started to peak, he was back ... It was good he was in time to stop the slap from Buaji, otherwise his RTRW would have stretched a few hundred miles again :(
We did touch on this briefly in yesterday's discussions ... Rekha and I ... that a man can get away with proclaiming his true love and flouting all conventions, but the girl is always the one to take the fall. Shown in excruciating detail here ... while Arnav was merely castigated for not going through a proper marriage, Khushi was lambasted time and again ... Dadi even said it in so many words ... men can say what they like, but how did your girl agree to such an arrangement? Are these your sanskars, your upbringing?
Notice she didn't question Arnav's upbringing, only Khushi's. And Khushi's arguments of the night before were validated to Bitwa very quickly indeed ... living together is all very well, but a marriage needs social sanction.
And Bitwa was forced to back down ... because for once everyone was against him and his high handed decision ... no marriage, no wife ...
Why didn't Arnav emphasize more that it was his decision and he forced Khushi? X(
So his RTRW is not yet complete .. he hasn't manned up enough to own up to that part at all ... and the rest of the family was also happy to leave the topic the moment he agreed to get married again.
Nani, Anjali and Payal were of course delighted at his agreeing to go through all the rasams ... Mami was less than pleased ... and Dadi was frankly angry. She didn't expect that coming ... she wanted Khushi thrown out of the house. But why? Doesn't seem to be from Anjali ... because Anjali was quite happy ... IS it from VLR? Or does Khushi remind her of another woman from the past?
Cutest part ... the confession is complete ... since they took so long to fall in love, then acknowledge it to themselves, acknowledging it to each other was pretty quick ... as soon as Arnav said the words, Khushi followed ... with the exact same ones ... 'I love you dammit ...':) :">
Creepiest part ... VLR is really a Creepwa >:) ... he has the entire house all cctv'ed? Yuck!!! :-&
Double yuck ... the poolside too?!!! :-& :-&
Don't tell me .. the bedroom as well ... triple yuck !!!! :-& :-& :-&
Episode Update:
Khushi comes back to the bedroom, remembers another 'dammit' scene ... 'Farak padta hai, dammit!' ... and now 'I love you dammit!' ... and recognises her Shaitaan for the Rajkumar he is ... he is like this only ;) A man who finds it difficult to put his feelings into words, but he loves her to bits, and has for a long, long time ... longer than she even imagined ...
And the Shaitaan and Rajkumar coalesce into one complete being finally ... and Khushi accepts her man for whom he is ... flaws and all ... and accepts that she loves him regardless ...
And she settles down to wait for him ... :">
But the man of her dreams is too disturbed ... driving around the streets at night, his eternal stress-buster ... and as he does, it seems he does slowly see the mistake he made ... regrets his words, the way he forced her yet again ... the mix of old and new shots, and lack of clarity in the expressions made it unclear whether he really regretted his words to her ... but it did seem that he did ...
What I would have liked ... Arnav Khushi to talk in the morning ... he to say she was right, and he would do the pheras and the ceremony for her, because she wanted it, it was important for her, and what made her happy was important for him ... and she to say, no, he was right, it didn't matter, their love was enough ... meeting each other halfway ... and then the whole Dadi Drama to erupt ...
But they didn't ... it did seem that Khushi might be ready to meet him halfway, as she wonders in the morning why he didn't wake her up when he came back, her slight disappointment when she sees the clean bed, and her move to hunt for him ...
And she goes downstairs, and the Dadi drama starts ... the moral hypocrisy and double standards of Dadi coming through in this very ugly scene, where Dadi coolly absolves her grandson of all blame, saying 'men will be men ... but why did your daughter agree?'
And I am more and more convinced that Dadi's double standards were at play fourteen years ago too ... it was Arnav's father at fault but Dadi refuses to see it ... till I see any proof otherwise, Arnav's stand seems completely justified.
Skipping through the very ugly confrontation scene, except to say that Dadi does her job, she instigates Nani and Anjali to do all the questioning at a time when Arnav is absent, leaving Khushi to face the firing squad ... and then joins only when Buaji appears, to indulge in repulsive, hypocritical mudslinging of the worst kind ... my grandson can do what he likes, but it's your daughter who is characterless for agreeing to such an arrangement at all ... :-&
Hated Dadi, hated the very quietly satisfied expression on her face as Khushi faced the barrage, the way she said 'aapke ghar ki beti' is living in sin with my grandson ... neatly widening the blame to include Khushi's family in her mudslinging ... 'hamare khandan mein we don't do such things ...' yeah, Dadi, your daughters and DIL's don't, but if your sons and grandsons do, that is perfectly all right, is it? Double standards at their worst! :-& X(
Felt bad for Buaji that she had to listen to such poison ... and thankfully Arnav arrived just in time to stop the slap ... if he hadn't, his RTRW would have gone back to starting point ... as it is, he lost quite a few miles by not owning up that he had forced Khushi into the marriage in the first place ... X(
Yep, Bitwa, you don't allow anyone to raise a hand on your wife ... but what about the emotional blows she takes just because of you and your deeds? Need some more soul-searching there.
Arnav tries to stop the firing squad, but this time everyone even in his own family is against him ... and Dadi goes back to blaming Khushi again ... how did she agree to this? Arnav lost a lot of miles there ... just by saying he knew the circumstances of their marriage was not good enough ...how about confessing that he forced her to? :(
And Dadi is very satisfied ... now a poisonous dart at Buaji, and Buaji has had enough ... she drags Khushi out ... she can't listen to any more slander ... Methinks Buaji was as upset at Dadi's poison as she was at Khushi's behaviour ...
And Arnav finally sees what he has done by ignoring all customs to such an extent ... and he has to give in ...
SN - I would have much preferred if he had already decided to give in for Khushi's khushi ... he could have had a small, private ceremony with no tamasha ... now he's in for the whole works ...
There's a very cute ad on SP these days on adoption, where the husband thanks his wife for convincing the family to adopt a little girl, and the wife tells him 'tabhi toh kehti hun, meri suna karo ...' ;)
Methinks Arnav needs to learn that lesson ... biwi ki suna karo, Bitwa, she has more sense than you many times. Especially about the ways of the world.
Arnav agrees for re-marriage with the whole works ... but makes it clear it's a re-marriage ... to his already legally wedded wife ...
Khushi is immeasurably relieved ... she will get her husband and the social sanction she needs ... Nani is happy, she never had any problem with Khushi ... well, she shouldn't as she's about the only person who knows the true story of how Arnav and Khushi got married, or closest to it ... so she sanctions it immediately, Anjali adds her agreement, she wants the whole tamasha, all her dreams for her brother's marriage ... hate to be cynical here, but why does Anjali always make it about herself? her dreams about her brother's wedding?
Dadi has no choice but to agree, but ensures a separation till the marriage actually takes place ... will Dadi be another Mami and try to throw spanners in the works? Don't think any will work, not with determined Arnav in the forefront ...
Arnav annoyed about the separation, Khushi is also unhappy ;) Nani smooths things over... you agreed to all the rasams, this is part of them ... Not a rasam Arnav or Khushi are happy about, by the looks on their faces ... :">
Nani tells Buaji, we will come with shagun and bring back Khushi as our bahu after full reeti-rivaaj ...
No mention about Arnav's wife ... even Nani doesn't dare to go there now ... :)) otherwise Arnav might just drag them all to the temple then and there to do the all-important pheras!

Dadi is annoyed, her plan to evict Khushi for good seems to have backfired ... Khushi is relieved and happy, Payal too ... Anjali seems happy too ... Mami is equally annoyed as Dadi ... where did that KN track bonding disappear?
And Khushi comes back ... renewed confidence to face the zoo, after those all-important words? Or confidence because her status will finally have the social and family sanction she needs? As she for the first time exerts her right to speak to Arnav ... Nani, Dadi and Anjali leave the two alone ... this has to be a first!
And Khushi confesses her feelings to Arnav ... seems like she was waiting to say the words almost as soon as they sank in last night ... she always needed them ...Arnav really didn't need the words, he knew she loved him ... but hearing them lit his face up just as much :">
And now come hell or high water, Bitwa will make Bitiya his wife ... asap.
And Creepwa makes a re-appearance ... complete with CCTV live coverage of events at RM ... what a creepwa!!! :-&
I just hope he hasn't managed a camera in Arhi's bedroom ... :-&
Although I was glad to see Creepwa back on first watch, I forwarded his scenes on repeat watch :( VLR decides that Arnav Khushi can never be together as long as he lives ... Creepwaji, then be prepared to bite the dust :)

Suddenly story has got back all its meat and more.
I was going through previous episodes and was thinking ... how beautiful it would have been if khushi already started to think about their incomplete wedding. When she got back after ME she placed her DM for the first time in their room. A small clash. "Mandir hai na khushi yahan jage karne ki kya zarurat hai". Slight trigger to khushis psyhc. Later after rakshabandhan another tiff on it leading khushi to say it matters to me. Then the Nani-NK convo cementing it. Chalo chado.

I don't believe in all these rituals etc for marriage.

Deletethe nayi soch is a "dhakosla"....if u ask me...what nayi soch is there in any of their serials....ofc i don't watch any except..see some excerpts of few mins here and there...my problem is i can't see saas-bahu sagas becos they all degenerate to just that..... silly sagas...and as far as love stories...there is only one other at the moment, pyaar ka dard..the leads don't inspire me to watch them...but my mom told me that they have decent locales/sets....it seems they were trying to ape the ASR nonchalance but ASR is one of a kind...they don't make like him anymore
its only IPK that displays a kind of attitude that can be described new age to a certain extent...i mean more in terms of flirting with these aspects of getting a hero to mouth unconventional dialogues,heroine is not crying/ getting the heroine in teakwando poses on bed....leads sharing a bed without the big c....to name a few....i know they all end up towing the SP line of culture/tradition etc but kuch toh hain.....
I did hear from someone that they change the storyline sometimes because of the limitations of the actor/actress ... in Navya, they changed Navya's personality to match the actress's, because she couldn't deliver, same with DABH, so from Nayi Soch, it has gone to the most Purani Soch ever - wife supporting husband and bearing all insults through thick and thin ... in fact, Sanaya said in one iv that she would play Sandhya very differently ... behna show, again I think the elder sis is a very limited actress so the focus shifted to the younger pair ...
DeletePKDH - I watch it these days, the guy is okay, the girl is pretty blah, but the two granddads are cute. It's like SGP, I watched it in spite of the leads, not because of them :))) Here it's the granddads and the FIL-SIL relationship, also the grandfather-grandson one ...
And the main thing I like about IPK is that I can relate a lot of the problems to real life ones ... things like an over-possessive nanad, the whole society vs love scene yesterday, the dilemma whether to tell or not about a philandering husband, Dadi's very subtle poisonous barbs to Buaji and Khushi, with no shouting screaming in front of a hundred strangers ... they don't make them over-dramatic, and that helps to keep them realistic. And the Lavanya exit was one of the best handled tracks I have ever seen on the subject.
to add to Dia's thought bt changing the character according to the actor....Sanaya requested Gul n Nissar to not change Khushi at all and she wud try n fit in that character....what an awesome actor she is....every day my respect to her goes up a notch :)

Actually, to make it short and sweet, he could just take Khushi to the nearest Registrar office, get married there, all right and legal, and say we're legally married, and here is the certificate to prove it. People who don't believe in rasams do exactly that ... so do couples from different religions. Would have shut up even Dadi ... but then Khushi would not have been 100% happy ... so I guess it's as much for her sake as for society.

See, villainwa didn’t disappoint me.I expected him on 11th (!3 days calc) or 13th, but he came on 14th(ASR’s kurta collar 35 95 = 08.14) when I had almost given up hope.

Today I can sincerely say that I feel with anyone who felt the epi was disconnected or rushed, I felt it too.
Just yesterday, I said I dread a remarriage track, but I was willing to accept it. And they made it look- well, almost- sensible.(Can’t think of any other scenario that’d have led to this.)
Plus I guess I am living on Shyamu’s promise that he will not let it happen.
Jaya, since we had a discussion on this yesterday- on the old box.
1. K carried the burden of the box today.
2. ASR could not fathom why the hell she/ everyone else was doing it.
3. He didn’t believe in the rituals, still he offered to help her by going along with it. (He even mentioned society today!)
4. He tried to help by removing the wedge.
5. Next in the sequence: Will she fall when Shyamwa plays his move?
6. Rest of the sequence- if it happens, will play out much later.
I am not gloating here prematurely, just trying to make an observation. I hope that symbolism makes more sense as the track unfolds.
BTW, did U notice that new painting in ASR’s room? Got painted overnight!

Why are they all so quick to punish Khushi. They don't even give her a chance to voice an explanation. Dadi really has it in for khushi, you can just tell by the gleeful expression on her face when everyone is having a piece of our poor girl.

I only hope that they do manage to get married, I for one will be sooooo disappointed if the evil snake slithers in and puts a stop to it. Can't wait for the fun to begin.

ReplyDeleteNani-Di-Buaji were more upset that khushi allowed a marriage without rasams. Maybe the very reason that it never crossed their mind to ask her how they got married. They know how much she values them. yes one added dialogue would have been most welcome.
To Nani-Di khushi is the only one who does not bow down to their chotes autocratic ways and a girl deeply rooted in religious and traditional norms. It was more of a hurt than disgust of live in. They know their chote is wrong. "haan chote hum sab jante hain par yeh galat hai chote" "Iss bar tumhe manna hi hoga ke tum galat ho" (though there can be other meanings to this, lets see) and Nanis agreement to it. Nanis "hume khushi bitiya se koi apatti nahi hai" and Dis silent agreement to it.
Khushi kept quiet only after she was asked to ... she was ready to defend herself. She clearly din't like it when DD said she is not married.
Arnav heard DD out only on Nani's insistence. If Nani din't side DD he wouldn't have given a damn.
The only thing Arnav bowed down to was getting separated from khushi. That he cannot allow. He will do anything to have his khushi with him. They will do it together.
Dia agree with your firing smiley with Arnav not declaring it was him who forced her for such a wedding but then he will also have to state "why" and "with what". More humiliation for khushi. More cracks in relationships.

Sama, if he's not letting her say why she said yes, then he can also refuse to tell the reason why he forced her. Just say he had his reasons ... and he left her with no option but to agree. No one will question him any more ... Nani definitely won't, neither will Anjali ... Dadi will, and he can shut her up with 'it was my decision,' ... all Dadi will say is that it was a wrong decision, which she will say anyway!
DeleteChalo, let us see what happens ... according to the latest spoiler, the wedding will happen with all dhoom dhaam and rasam sambhar ;) Considering that Mahadev and BV in the same time slot both have weddings happening, and both are ahead in TRP's, hope SP is prepared to spend good money on the wedding.
Besides they all know that when Arnav decides to force someone to agree with him, he can be very nasty. Maybe that's why Nani and Anjali, and even Mami, are not persisting with any questions ... only Dadi, who really doesn't know what sort of man he has grown into, is daring to question him at all.
I agree with sama... if arnav owns upto his his mistake... the one abt forcing khushi into a contract hate marriage, then there will be loads of qns... he already owned it up infront of khushi... and to some extent in front of nani too... more than that will only lead to more confrontations and mudslinging by dadi... i dnt want that!

the point she made is explained by her next point but i found the point odd frm the Bahu angle...becos Khushi is actually their beti not bahu...but Garima is their bahu..
