There is a system in Mumbai, where dabbavalas, as they're called, pick up boxes of home cooked food and deliver them to office staff. Boxes from the staff's own homes, or prepared by housewives happy to earn some pocket money by putting their culinary skills to good use. The dabbavalas have delivered a few million tiffins at last count without missing a single one. This dabba system is so renowned that it's been used at Harvard Business School as a case study, and Prince Charles on his first visit to India made it a point to meet the humble dabbavalas, and their representative was invited to his wedding to Lady Camilla.
So don't knock the humble dabba ...
And so I liked the episode.
Mainly because many things I was afraid of, didn't happen ... Khushi didn't sell the food, she took it with full knowledge of Anjali (and even Mami), and she distributed it free to the staff. Using the opportunity to set up her business venture ... but not compromising her dignity as Mrs. Raizada ... or even Arnav's ... Anjali, Nani and Mami all knew what she had done ... in fact Anjali was the one who had the idea of taking it to AR.
Secondly ... nothing makes a woman feel quite so satisfied as her husband (and children) appreciating her cooking :) ... spoken from personal experience, and lots of it :) I don't cook often - am fortunate enough to have full time help. But whenever I choose to go into the kitchen, my kids and hubby make it a point to comment and appreciate, and that's what makes it so very rewarding. So I really loved the scene of Khushi feeling so happy watching Arnav eat her food with so much enjoyment.
And how cute was her very spontaneous "What the ...?" =))
Again, am not too sure where this is going to lead ... to Khushi going into this as a business venture? Will she fulfill another shiddat by telling Arnav, "I have to think of my future after I leave RM" thereby jolting him ... and herself into thinking a little further into the future? Will he allow her to go into this as a business venture, or will he stop her? From his slight smile at the end, he seemed agreeable - but then he didn't know what she was thinking about doing. Will she start this ... and succeed at it ... thereby making her more independent? Or will this also fail like her earlier ventures? I really hope not.
Good distribution of screen space, probably getting ready for four days of Sanaya's absence - she is there for the bulk of most episodes ...
Shyam gives Anjali the cot ... so she is going to announce it to the entire house - and to Arnav ...
Mami-Payal ... does Payal speak better English than Khushi? In which case, that's another thing on Khushi's to-do list. Chalo, the fashion show will keep them occupied better than the repetitive saas-bahu scenes which were going nowhere.
Last thoughts - Arnav bitwa is MAJOR Khadoos - his staff is terrified of even eating without his approval. And Akash was really funny, the way he justified - I'm not waiting for pizza - I'm going to eat my dabba - my wife sent it! =))

Episode starts with Sanka Devi confiding in her latest confidante - I thought she had made up with DM? I guess Lakshmi has abandoned Nani for Khushi these days :)) And still worrying about returning the Rs 300. A new perspective as to why Khushi is suddenly so keen to return Arnav's money - because he said people who don't return money are cheats, and she doesn't want him to think she's a cheat - his opinion matters tremendously to her. Halwai, seamstress ... ideas abandoned ... then she needs to work off her worry in some activity or she will go mad ... so off to the kitchen to cook ... in vast quantities ... but still no ideas strike her.
Mami praises her salad ... =)) and Anjali and Khushi between them come up with the idea of distributing the mountains of food to the AR employees as their canteen is shut.
First obstacle - the hefty security guards ... charmed by Khushi and the aroma of her food into letting her in ... while the AR employees wait for their pizzas.
Akash lucky fellow gets his wife's dabba ... Arnav, still nursing his sore neck, sees wifey urging his employees to taste the food ... Khadoos Number One, still aggravated by the pain in his neck (both literal and figurative ;) ... the one in his neck and the one in hot pink) ... descends from his Olympian heights to utter an annoyed "what the ..." ... how can she be so chirpy when he's suffering?! Khushi, not daunted in the slightest, includes him in her sunny smiles, tells him to reserve his "what the's" for the missing pizzas and carries on doing a hard sell of her food :))
That beefy security guy salivating and swallowing was hilarious!!!
Arnav glares at his salivating hungry staff, daring them to touch the food in lieu of his missing pizzas, Khushi continues to chirp brightly about jalebis, and the staff is torn between angry boss and their own empty tummies ... empty tummies slowly getting the upper hand ...
Kishorilalji and Chamanlalji are recruited to help her take the food into the canteen =)) KLJ and CLJ suddenly putty in the hands of their boss's wife ... chalo, koi nahin, yaaron ... your boss is putty in the hands of his wife, which field radish are you? =))
Akash gives a barely hidden smile - he admires Khushi's guts to face his brother more than anyone else, I think ... and happily makes for the canteen to eat his dabba ... one speaking glare from Arnav - but Akash has a great excuse - his biwi sent his khana, so he doesn't have to wait for pizza ... pleasing biwi by eating her khana is definitely greater priority than displeasing bro by not eating pizza ...
Arnav furious - why haven't the pizzas come?! Staff nervously call again ...
Akash settles down with his food very contentedly ... small reassuring look at worried Khushi setting out her food dabbas ... and then the door opens and slowly, with very hangdog look, the employees start filing in ... empty tummies finally won the day :)) Arnav discovers his employees in the canteen ... Khushi gives him an exuberant Thumbs Up ... fuming Arnav withdraws ... and Khushi starts taking orders for the next day :)) ... with special orders for CLJ and KLJ =)) now firmly established as her best friends - guess they won't be stopping Mrs. Raizada from entering the office again in a hurry!
And Arnav behaving like spoilt brat again ... or sore loser ... she won this round, so he won't eat her food ... even though Akash tries to persuade him ...
And Khushi, packing up, two dabbas missing ... she goes on dabba hunt ... only to find HHWS busy proving to himself, and to her ... that her food is finger-lickin' good ... :)) eating as though he hasn't eaten for days!!!
Khushi's completely spontaneous "What the .." and clamping her hand over her mouth ... EPIC!!!
Utterly butterly cute!!! :">
And continuing to stand there and watch him quietly, her expressions changing from shocked disbelief to surprise and then pure heartfelt pleasure ... so completely happy to see her HH enjoying her home cooked food so much ... maybe this was subconsciously in her mind ever since he left the house without breakfast and Anjali said the canteen was closed too ...
No wonder cv's are delaying Khushi's realization of love ... the day she realizes it, or the day Arnav changes his attitude towards her, Khushi will not hold out against him for an instant ... she's head over heels in love with him, she's just not allowing herself to admit it in the face of his blow hot blow cold spells ...
He opens the jalebis, she rushes to stop him ... and here's the difference between Khushi and Arnav - he would have gloated over his victory, in fact his guilty look shows that's what he was expecting her to do ... but not her ... her only thought is she could have made something else for him ... she'll do that tomorrow ... And he has nothing to say, so he quickly leaves ...
And this Rabba Ve made sense ... for all the right reasons ... not ArHi, but Khushi and the dabbas ... her happiness that he ate her food and enjoyed it ... sweet!!!
She comes down with the dabbas, the staff praise her food ... but more than their praise, her happiness is because of her husband, and the way he enjoyed her food :)
Mami-Payal and fancy dress competition ... for a sophisticated family, Raizadas have the most crass neighbours and friends ... and Payal finds a new way of winning over MIL ...
Khushi returns happily with her empty boxes, Mami makes another snide remark ...
Shyam gifts Anjali the cradle ... and does he actually feel a little guilty about how easy it is to manipulate his gullible wife? But no, this is all about his plan, and convincing Arnav.
And Arnav returns home, again all businessman mode ... only to find wifey has taken his lessons to heart and is echoing all his lines ... this is the way I work, don't try to fool with me, I'm the daughter of a halvai and the wife of a businessman ...
Cute to see the way Arnav Singh Raizada melts into mush every time his wife claims proudly that she is his wife :"> ... the expression on his face as he watches her talking away confidently on the phone ... indulgent, loving, proud, questioning - what exactly is this mad girl up to now? And this second Rabba Ve was also very much in place :)
Thoughts - where exactly are they planning to take this new venture of Khushi's? Nowhere, I would think ... doubt that he will let her start up a business and become independent ... but the cv's could surprise us yet, by letting Khushi make her way back into the office, in a role that conforms to SP bahu sensibilities ...

She did not have money to pay back 300 and she somehow managed to get a client who gave her the advance of 10K?
What did work:
Khushi feeling happy that he ate his food.
Arnav feeling so proud of her when she said she is businessman's wife.
What will never work.
Shyam mending his ways. Was it Guilt for a second on his face ther? Nahiiiiiiiin, Shyam Manohar Jha can't sudhrofy just like that, This guy almost committed murder, blasphemy and what not, Grrrrr CVs.

DeleteI agree about ASR...he's a difficult character. They need to maintain ASR and let Arnavness come through the right amount...making him too gruff or too domestic really doesnt work.
DeleteThey did the best job in January...he was still smug, arrogant, very ASR and made her uncomfortably aware of him...only gave her backhanded compliments and let his 'love/liking' for her show in very ASRish ways...concern, buying her bangles but not owning up to it...
Also in October they did a good job with ASR's character...the month preceding the Diwali scene.
after the wedding, ASR does not know how to behave, his writers do not know how to make him behave, and the actor is lost in the directions.. this one day, that the next.. more and more, the real barun is showing through the ASR persona.

overall, I liked today's episode.. mainly because it ended on bitwa's smiling face.

DeleteI liked the episode on the whole - much better than yesterday's dimwits. Yes, ASR has gotten diluted slightly ... but isn't it inevitable? After all, he's the one supposedly battling with his feelings ... I like the firm ASR with some softness starting to show through ... like the slight smile in the Holi scene ... 'aur tum chup rahogi ...'

And yes if she is planning to cater to his office, I want her to excitedly but factually tell him the reason the plan will be a resounding success - make him realize she also understands "faayde ka sauda" :))

Jan and Oct waala ASR was really cool. ASR, be the macho businessman but all mush for your lady love (when alone). Kabhi kabhi I think in their hurry to can the scene they end up missing nuances.
And yes never let it be said that we do not want multiple RV's in a day - just not slapstick RV :)

The point on not being considered a cheater is a good one. Ties back into the MU too. If 300 Rs. can give you heartburn, home wrecking toh will melt you nai?!
And hopefully Arnav's Dil vs Dimaag will start (dimaag will have a reason to come back from vacation)
Shaayad, this will also give that opening for 'need to fend for myself after 6 months' point we've been talking of.
Oh and given the scene recall & relay fundaa here, moch nikaalna toh banta hai boss - diwali pe khushi ke pair main moch thi; holi pe arnav ke gard'an' main moch hai. (oo and some nice fb's from the broken bangle scene too)
and yeah! as she helps revlieve the pain, dard ka uff bhi banta hai arnav se - showing he is also human and khushi toh will go hyper (hopefully). And kaash ki arnav baithe baithe falls asleep leaning onto her....RV!!
Arnav takes his cues on love from Aakash shaadi waale din by poolside and aaj biwi ke khaane ka dabba LOL
U know I want Khushi to send him food with that sukhe mewe ka halwa. Not gloat, not ask just send it when they send dabba for Aakash. (Ofc if she is catereing then toh alag baat hai. Agree with you, with teh catering she can still be SP bahu but of the atypical variety. Also a reason for her to come to AR and bump into Arnav later if there is a physcial separation)
Room decor wishes seem to have reached some ears. Only the stars I could see. I wish they bring the windchime back - bhale hi hang it on the doorway from room to pool. And also those faily lights. Is teh DM murti around? And pls pls get rid of the additional mirror and dresser.

It is a fictional show. We all have a life. But we like to have this fiction in our life because it gives us the wings of imagination to transform our lives from the daily routine to the magical :))

I was a incredibly annoyed when the episode began with the feeding the office staff track...execution of the situation sucked. Shweths mentioned all the points so shan't repeat.

Loved both the Rabba Ve moments today...
RV1. Hahaha poor guy – crick in the neck, no breakfast, Dominoes (hahaha you guys so called it-sub/pizza) apparently on strike thanks to DM’s master stroke and to add insult to injury wifey got food for the whole office par ek baar bhi ASR ko nahin poocha...:-(...So what? Sadda Haq babe...he went and took food on his own slyly upto his office(no idea how though) and ate chup chupke ...(after all he went all glarey on Akash and broke up the ‘kitty party-ROFL’ he had to hide from them all)...
Now this was more the KKGSR we know...happily niharofying her Hottie Hubby eating the food she made...correction not eating ...inhaling...:-)...And the ‘Nahin! Aap ye nahi kha sakte’ concern is back (will totally ignore that any diabetic has more sense than to eat a jalebi)...koi baat nahi...for the very apt rabba ve we will happily overlook.
Really liked this scene...after taking his case so much with her WT WT WT chant (she’s been saying it since jiji tera jethji...) she accidently says it naturally...hahaha...hope she slips up in front of him once and he raises his eyebrow and smirks...Lol.
The whole scene was way more in character than yesterday. He for his part definitely didn’t plan on being caught and especially not by HER and especially not enjoying the food –Okay no way to get out of that one so just gathers his things and leave:-D...she’s left feeling all gungho...unhe pasand aaya;-)
RV2. I liked this one even more than RV1...just a smidge...let us never again say that we don’t want 2 RV’s in one eppy...

No hesitation! Declaring probably the two most important relationships of her life to some random stranger and Arnav hears and you can see that sense of almost fierce pride and it’s almost like he’s saying... ‘Yes ...you are!’ ...Loved his expression.
Also we all have things that ‘work’ for us...clearly biwi in business mode (BBM-muhahaha) ‘works’ for him...hahaha

Arey, she doesn't owe him 1 lakh - she had to fulfill the contract of training Lavanya to escape that clause - and she did her part. So the 1 lakh is null and void. And since that was in lieu of the 25,000 for the car damage, strictly speaking that is settled as well.

Not many stories are likely to have a difficult man deeply in love with a crazy girl(btw, thats not her only description) who is sought(lusted...dettol rinse) after by the husband of his beloved sister, who is mentally fragile. To top it, they have an intertwined painful past. How complicated can it get....

ReplyDeleteI somehow love the independent streak to Khushi's character, yes agreed that she tends to go OTT with some of her business ideas but looking below the surface al she's trying to do is make her presence felt.
I liked the fact that there were no challenges , no tit for tats today. The sheer pride i ASR's face on hearing 'business man's wife' was very pleasurable. This guys so loves this girl, he can't but help softening to her antics. Awww!! I do want Khushi to be reciprocating her love as well.
Shwetha - Agree with you on the fact that how come she didn't thnk of saving some lunch for him ? Or maybe she is afraid that he'll deny her offer or say something that'll break her heart again.
We are suckers of this serial , so will stick with it through it's ups and downs.

ReplyDeleteI know we all want Arnav to have some ASR streaks in him.. but girls, remember this...people change irrevocably in love.. and for a person like ASR, khushi's love has changed a lot... I mean, if her mere presence around him has made him learn the values of things like apologising to people and caring for others' happiness (case in point : A buying the pigeons for the little girl near DM mandir), then imagine what her love must have done to him! khushi has brought from within him the soft and caring person and that has toned down the ASR side.. I doubt if that will resurface again.. the cold hearted ASR is long gone..and replaced by Arnav, who is well aware of people around him and has started caring about them and especially about that person who has brought about that change within him... so the fact that he has become soft spoken is not bothering me much, after today's epi...
what I like the most : K becoming soo happy he ate and loved the food she made.. really, this girl has such simple and sweet dreams.. :) "dil hai chotasa..choti si asha.." :))
how I think the story will proceed : if articles are true and K is going to realise her feelings for him before she knows the truth about the marriage, then today's scenes were bang on!! Also, if they are going to show A's heart v/s head battle, today's epi was a key point... for a girl who is soo innocent in her approaches to solve problems, how can she think ill and have an extra marital affair? Shyam making Anjali happy...only to make it somehow reach to A... or are they showing complex emotions of Shyam as well? Does he feel that he is wrong in betraying Anjali? It is too early for the guilt.. plus he is not the type to feel guilty..he is purely mean and vicious... maybe they want to build up the track for A to start believing (atleast temporary) that shyam has given up on K... and is concentrating on his married life instead..
question is : what will K do once she realises her feelings for A? Will she confront him and ask him the truth of their marriage herself? Or will Shyam let slip it to her somehow? I am curious how they are going to show K knowing the real reason... because A is sure as hell not going to tell her himself!
oh..forgot to mention ... the highlight of the epi for me - KHUSHI blurting out "what the..??" and then realising and getting startled by what she just said!! :D :D that was really the best.. adorable Sanaya/Khushi!! :)))

1) Khushi's thumbs up to Arnav, if u see it was actually devoid of any malice...its what Khushi is really is....crazy but a lovely person at heart...she hadn't come in to prove a point or anything...she came hoping to find a solution to her Rs 300 problem. Once there, she is all heart, in to the moment..surrenders herself to the situation...
2)Khushi's pure joy at seeing Arnav partaking the food...again all her old scores to settle with A out of the window...
3)Last but not the least, ASR's look of pride at hearing her own up to the relationship....
SI and BS acting was top notch...BS got the crick in the neck really right.....SI's joie de vivre spilt over to Khushi thru and thru and made her scenes very believable...the fact that K is a person without any malice came thru clearly

I agree on churri/kanta part. I actually liked him licking his fingers, showed how much he was enjoying the food. No matter how rich one is, dil se sab desi hain. And how best to enjoy desi food, make use of your fingers. Nothing LS in that.

ReplyDelete- 1/2 episodes every week worth watching
- Fake RVs every now and then to pacify the audience
- ASR/KKG come close, warm upto each other for 1.5 epis, then storm hits and hate track begins
- No continuity between weeks, every week it is a completely diff track
- Leads have amnesia , they never remember what happened last week :-(
- MU will never be cleared, Shyam keeps playing mind games and our leads enjoy their vacation (of the brain i.e.)

DeleteHehe ... it's good to keep expectations really low ... I really feel they have 2-3 different teams of writers, there is so much discontinuity in characterization from day to day ... take the screaming shrieking Khushi of Wed and the much better, smarter, more poised one of Thurs.
I accept that MU's will keep coming ... but for heavens' sake, solve the current one, move on, then dream up new MU's ... you can't keep dragging just the ONE MU for months and months! Lazy writing!!!
My hubby had got hooked to the show ... he remarked yesterday that its gotten boring now ... nothing is happening.
I thin kthey have a female writing the emotional / romantic scenes and a guy writing the comedy scenes.

If he did not show glimpses of Arnav...wouldn't he turn into a caricature...i am tempted to think of Jackie Shroff's portrayal of King Uncle...as a vague comparison. It must be tuf for the makers to translate their vision. of gruff men falling in love..
My own theory (prbably it is a steoreotype) has been that when such men fall in love, they fall more deeply normally men do.
The portrayal would be a cross between a mushy man and "sadda haq" style romance..It sounds great when it is written but it is a lot tougher when we have show it on screen without the aid of the written word...I think we shld not forget that...
How would ASR be when he falls in love - like the Beast was (Beaty and the Beast) before Beauty saw beyond his gruff exterior and transformed him into a handsome prince.
DeleteOr maybe like Batman in The Knight Rider. He knows he loves Rachel, how much she means to him but he has his cross to bear.
Or the way Al Pacino transformed from gruff disillusioned retired blind army man with the freindship of the boy in "The Scent of a Woman"
The pre-Diwali ASR and the post La breakup ASR was the closest.
ASR should be aware of Khushi's likes and dislikes and her moods
Still be a man of few words
Enable things for her without gloating / throwing favours in her face
Behave cordially with her (no get out, no aukaad, no yelling - the occasional WT when she really annoys him)
Have moments when he is still the rakshas laad governor to her
Send her red roses thru his secretary, buy her bangles, anonymously leave jalebis for her by the poolside
Get her posters for the bed so she can hang up the stars in style
Get her an autographed Salman Khan poster (cheesy I know)
Give her that unguarded little smile / smirk of joy when she does something really crazy that makes his heart flip
Offer to take her to the temple because she believes in god (he may choose to wait outside)
Take her home to meet her parents
Ask her about her parents, about her relationship with her babuji (too far -fetched as these are murky areas in his life so I doubt that will happen anytime soon)
Ask her to help with teh garden
If he is on a call and she needs to talk, put the caller on hold, ask her to wait, finish teh call and give her his time
If there is something tasty on the table for dinner, ask her if she made it. Simply state it is nice if it is :)
Entrust her with his Di's doctor appointments (only after MU I guess), with money or valuables needed for something in the house
disclaimer - some of this may jar with the current story but when I thot of rekha's qn, i only asked myself how would a gruff man show his love? For a man who has always shouldered responsibilities and taken care of his family the highest form of love / respect for his partner would be to share his responsibilities with her - to trust her to do a good job with them, to trust her to not let him down, to trust her to not mock him for being weaby sharing but understand the underhanded compliment he pays her.
True love and companionship is when even silence can be a form of communication!

Love is really a simple emotion but paradoxically what it means to different people can make it very complex...So, if it has resonance for more people, it probably means the simplicity in the emotion has been communicated well.
When we saw Arnav in the last scene, some among us may have thot...was it love, pride, possession...the emotion that was displayed on A's face..Questions may also be asked..
How did he show that emotion, when minutes/hrs ago, he was fuming?
How could he show that emotion when all his doubts haven't been cleared...and so on
But that exactly is the point about love, isn't it?
Dil ke haathon majboor hona yehi to hain...
It was a half smile...but the tenderness reached A's eyes completely..I don't know if it was a case of great vision combined with great acting, writing, directing whatever that did it....but what i saw on screen was magical. a beautiful moment...love is then all about simple moments!!
Become vulnerable to her ... show her a part of him that no one else sees.
DeleteRemain gruff, but not biting or cruel .. no taunts. It's all in the tone - the difference in the way he said keep quiet, don't lie Khushi ... and the way he said, I don't drink bhaang and you will keep quiet ... the first was gruff and angry, the second was gruff and loving.
Gestures more than words - ASR finds it difficult to express in words - keep that intact. She wanted to put up more stars - he sets up a hanger thingy where she can do that.

A few silent scenes - watching the stars, Khushi comes there, sees him, starts to leave, he stops her by holding her hand ...
Dining table - Anjali praises something Khushi cooked to Nani, he reaches out deliberately to take it.
Mami says something insulting to Payal, Khushi looks upset and starts to say something in her defence, Arnav stops her by pressing her hand under the table, and does the needful in his quiet firm manner.
Mami says something about some dish Khushi cooks, Arnav says it's nice, can I have some more please.

Another of those "tum theek ho" scenes ... we haven't had one for ages.
Organise his company lawyer to find someone to deal with Buaji's pension, (since Shyam has forgotten all about it), and not tell her he did anything ... Buaji tells her when its done.
Get her an engagement ring ... Payal got one, she should get one too.
Ask her brusquely - mera meve ka halva kahan hai?
Ask her to accompany Anjali to the doctor? Only after Shyam has been exposed and won't be doing that - otherwise throwing Shyam and Khushi together - no way!
Stay aloof from family gatherings like he used to earlier, but instead of going to his room, watch from the sidelines, and have that proud smile as he sees Khushi completely at home and loved and respected by his family. Khushi see him sitting on the side, and he allow himself to be dragged to sit with the family, still with that small smile.
All the Georgette Heyer fans can add more - almost all her books have a brooding angsty hero getting reformed ...
And girls, honestly, for me, ASR is not ideal hero ... he has to change back to Arnav to become worth living with. He has to have that ASR in office, Arnav at home quality. Even in the office scene yesterday, my first thought was, uff, such a khadoos tyrant boss - staff ko khaane bhi nahin deta in his ego over his wretched pizzas! Thank god he redeemed himself by quietly eating the khaana - otherwise it would have been another case of cutting off nose to spite face!

Ask her what they can do for Di to keep her happy as she is pregnant - maybe ask her if they should surprise her with a baby room for Anji and allow Khushi to decorate / stock it (partly fund it himself and partly let her spend from what she earns if she is earning). Let the baby blankets be cotton with chikankaari in bright red but let there also be a fisher price mobile gym hanging from the crib
"Gestures and not words" - ASR / Arnav is essentially that. And if he does all of the above, he automatically becomes ASR to the world and Arnav to Khushi. Just look at the instances we have cited for the transformation. Mostly private or with family.
To me there is no concept of changing back to Arnav. That is why I use ASR and Arnav interchangeably when I write about him, He is always going to be Arnav. ASR is just his public persona. Without the twain the man is incomplete. ASR / Arnav reminds me of John Thornton from the BBC series North and South.

Mads, a couple of people give fairly accurate spoilers on the forum - Zee_News and Mishti's news is usually spot on.
But tracks change all the time - they were supposed to have a Khushi falling sick track, it even came on E24 or SBB (forget where) - but that seems to be scrapped as of now.
I do think the basic track here is Khushi falling for Arnav - or rather, realizing her love for Arnav. What say, guys?

what I think will happen : khushi falling sick (she already has cold so there will be no problem showing that).. and A taking care of her, because ofcourse he can't see her in any kind of pain.. Anjali insisting that K needs a break from all that has happened in her life (which will also HOPEFULLY probe A into thinking what all she has gone through, hence lead to start of A's heart v/s head battle) .. and that even since their marriage they haven't been to any holiday and esp not a honeymoon..so voila! why not now?? And both protest for sometime (although both secretly want to go.. :P) and then leave straight off for the honeymoon.. Throughout the honeymoon while she realises her feelings for A, A has his strong heart v/s head battle (Gosh SaRun would be AWESOME in those scenes) and finally when she is back from the honeymoon with the complete realisation, angry and seething shyam bitwa looses control of things, forgets he has to pretend that he is turning a new leaf etc and lets slip to K the real reason about their marriage??
Although how they are going to proceed henceforth I have no clue right now...but this is a very logical way the story would go..
as far as K returning A's 300 and the food supplying business etc goes, I think its going to last only until tonight.. what say, girls??

Okay this is the scene where she comes with the sarees initially.
Here the fun begins...when she starts twirling where to go, she is supposedly between two rooms or two corridors...But actually she is at the exit remember how Arnav stopped Mami and how he wanted to hold her hand after bringing her back from the temple.
Now from ASR's room, you can apparantly see the sofa and the stairs that lead upstairs.

You see a SATC kind of show that revolves around fashion. You read The Devil wears Prada where the boss is a sadoo like ASR abnd into fashion and you look at IPK and go huh!! fashion what fashion.
Fabrics, materials, textures..it all matters. I read somewhere about how they spent eons finalizing that 1st look for Barun's entry and u know what even today i think he would look smart with scarves rather than ties all the time. And it grates bcos this man's entry promo said "Clothes maketh the man" Even the stubble, the holi morning, mehendi poolside scene light stubble is fine but due to day long shooting or whatever when he ends up having heavy stubble he looks positively shabby rather than droolworthy!
Like gargi says, she needs to take the whole unit shopping. Jaya was also willing I think :)

DeleteU r absolutely right...but unfortunately....this is the thing about Indian sensibilities...people behave as if u don't talk about it, they don't exist...its also the time slot issue, channel issue...
I don't watch Saas-bahu serials becos i can't accept that a bahu can't communicate with a saas over a simple silly matter(or vice versa depending on the situation)and they will let wounds fester..the dynamics in the relationship are taken to stupid levels and so naturally u may serials running on for 3-4 years..
Today i caught an episode of DABH (after the IPK Re-run) and believe me, I saw a lead replying sensibly to an accusation( i think so!) made by her MIL...I am not sure but it seems a first of sorts for me...I was impressed by that...Otherwise they would have shown her simply accepting it and then going thru trials and tribulations proving her MIL otherwise...
If this serial has a top TRP, is it that audiences have become more accepting or have i misread the theme wrng?
Next week will be very slow ... Sanaya is there in almost all scenes in every episode ... far more than Barun. A throwback to our discussion that ODB interacts mainly with Khushi, and 5% of the time with Anjali/Akash ... whereas Khushi has separate relationships with each member of the family. So her absence has to made up for by lots of closeups and BD's ... even then it will be tough going. The Mami-Payal track and Arnav-Shyam track is for that, I guess.

Rekha, about DABH, I'm not sure as I don't watch the show, but I would have watched it because the theme really appealed to me - a woman studying after marriage and her husband supporting her. I tried to watch the first few episodes, but it was presented in in very over-dramatic manner and then back into the saas-bahu saga ... but they are trying to keep that basic theme - I think that's where it has hit the jackpot.
DeleteI saw a glimpse of one episode where the lead talks about accepting a girl baby ... and at the end of the episode, she had a face-to-face with the audience where she made an appeal to stop female foeticide. So the message is good - the problem for me is the saas-bahu dynamics, which I can't stand, and the lead actress - she is pathetic. And the usual wicked BIL-SIL ... it's the usual SP soap, the only difference is that it has a message.

DeleteWhat little I have seen of DABH b/w channel surfing, it does have a message. The MIL is overowering as is want in a Tier 2 or Tier 3 city. But yes there have been subtle social messages and also the hubby wife dynamics are nice I think. Panga there is the leads are ok esp the female cannot really emote looks quite 2D whereas the MIL is a powerful actress.
Even SGP is nice and they have developed all the characters such that even if the leads go missing for sometime is is ok.
With IPK the panga is having touted it as a love story they spent a lot of tme building the Arnav Khushi characters and the love story but then missed Payal, Aakash and others. Till the Payash track came up, those 2 barely had any screen time. La and NK were developed but they have been phased out.
I hope in the upcoming week, we have Arnav Aakash scenes (about married life and changes, about Di, Aakash commenting on Khushi's spirit), Payash scenes (about the sudden wedding, about mami), some Nani Arnav moments (not had one in ages) some Arnav monologues or thinking about all that has happened in this short while and ofc some creepwa scenes.
Honestly the only other youthful romantic love story which I watched and liked was Mahi Way on Sony. 26 / 29 episodes and a once a week telecast kept things moving at a good pace.

Over time build scenes where they think about why these 2 did what they did and Akash giving Payal insights into Arnav - how he has had to be tough but is essentially nice. and Payal agrees with all he has done for them. Payal talks about Khush's sanki panaa and Aakash makes her realize how mature and responsible she has been for the family (AR incidents that Akash knows of) though she was the youngest. And tell her to inform the family that Khushi is settling in well and they should not worry for both daughters. Even a passing did you speak home today Payal? Are your parents well? Will u be seeing them this week? Does babuji need a checkup?
He could even ask her about the broken marriage and how Arnav had a hand in it and how Khushi has been shielding Arnav - but being the person he is just keeps i t to himself tho his regard for Khushi increases. Maybe Aakash brings up Shyam and Payal gets fidgety. He asks and she is shown again to have the conflict of to tell to tell or not to tell. Payal can just inform Akash that Khushi was forced into her engagemetn and the man turned out to be a fraud. How heartbroken she was how she did it all for family. Saving it all for later will again create high drmaa sometime in future and they may skip some scenes followed by draught and fillers. If they know the sequence of events, Arnav kowing, Khushi realizing, Khushi knowing and so on, they need to plan milestones and accordingly pace scenes to suit availability. Week to Week TRPs is ok but it will eventually backfire
Even some Nani Najli scenes feeling happy about having Khushi home, how she has done so much for them. Payal and /or Arnav can overhear or not. Them asking paayl the reason for Khushi's broken rishta and she telling essentially the turth save for the Shyam bit.
Also talking to them about Khushi's childhood and how she has always been striving for the family - the loss of their dukaan. I mean it is not like u get married and dont mention ur maayka in ur sasuraal at all. Besides this is a pretty warm sasuraal not hostile.
Aakash and Arnav could be sitting down studying some files, a few deal related issues. Arnav could ask Aakash if he is happy after all the effort to get married to Payal. And Aakash asks him bhai can u tell me why u did what u did in a totally non offesive way. Arnav can choose to remain silent and maybe Aakash speaks of Khushi to Arnav.
There could be Aakash Khushi (jija - saali) scenes where he tells her about how bhai is nice and not the LG she calls him. Why he has to be strong as he has to fend for a family.
Saving it all for later for the track about the past seems stupid.
Some self reflection scenes of Arnav about the whole matter - if done nicely they can take 2 epis for this and not necessarily rush it out. Lots of FB's inner dialgue - ofc I am guessign they are scared if they show so much and he still does not figure out then also it will be an issue.
Anyways, bahut rant hogaya, bas bahut bore na hoye. I cannot conceptualize and create scenes for creep. But if I have to sit thru his stupid monologues whole of next week..I am going to be very cross

DeleteBut good - all feedback about the unnecessary dumbing down is useful - hope it reaches the makers. And the TRP's reflect - the last time they did this kind of inane comedy, they had to retract very quickly ... hope the same thing happens again.

Oh oh, is this why they started with the Shyam convincing Arnav that he has sudhrofied track, so that is what it will be the next week, shyam coming up with loads of stuff for Arnav's sake.
In that case, this week shouldn't be too bad, depending on how fooled Arnav is:(
just a question girls...while I was watching some SBS segments yesterday, I came across the La exit one, where they were like the makers are thinking of bringing back La to take revenge.. and I was like.. REALLY?? Because looking at how they showed her exit, it does not look to me as if she will develop vicious feelings towards K..infact she wants them both to be together.. unless she is a split personality..
