Sanaya interview with Noreen Khan

Sanaya remarking that she is a lot like Khushi ... Sanaya's comment that people told her she couldn't do a lead because she wasn't Indian-looking enough ... and her taking it up as a challenge ... and proving to the world that yes, she can be Indian, talk Indian, walk Indian ... =D> remnds me of the way Khushi faces challenges head on instead of running away from them.
She likes Khushi better than Gunjan, because it gives her the chance to show so many emotions ... she goes through the entire range ... emotional, romantic, funny, silly, good bahu, beti, sister ... just about everything ... a very well rounded role for her.
Her comment that the entire cast is great fun to be with and are like an extended family :) What a contrast to her previous show when they were so obviously in two camps ... am so glad for her that she's enjoying her work so much, even though Mohit is not there ... and that all of them are such good friends.
Barun calls her Sunny ... and treats her like a little brother! =)) So apparently the SBB we saw of him picking her up isn't the only time - he does that all the time!
The unit told her she will rock the Mausam suhana la la la song ... because it required her to sing badly ... Sanaya can do that easily =))
Emotional scenes take a lot out of her ... yes, she really gives them her everything ... and it shows.
She loves doing comedy ... she's awesome at it for sure ... but we love the romance, Sanaya!
She doesn't like the romantic scenes so much because it's no fun doing romantic scenes with someone you don't want to romance!!! Epic ... so typically bindaas Sanaya ... here she's won best jodi twice over with Barun and there she goes, we don't like to romance each other!!! =))
Wonder if that was also to reassure their respective partners ... I can imagine Barun's wife getting slightly insecure about him spending so much time with such a gorgeous girl, and Mohit ditto with her ... and the whole world raving about their jodi. Plus her very good friend is Dhrashti, who had a tough time with GC fans ... and GC's wife had a tough time too ... these guys are sensible, keeping things very clear in front of the media from the start ...

SN: I loved the bit in Barun's interview when some phangirl says 'Barun you're lovely!!' and you poor barun was like..oh um Thanks-(how does one respond to this?) -hahhaha...
SN: the Mumbai-ness of Sanaya and Delhi-ness of Barun came through in the interview a little...I liked that:-D

DeleteSP is indeed come a long long LONG way from the ekta kapoor days.. u can actually sense the change in the storylines even from the SPA promotional song videos... as they say in their song from this year "badlega milke zamaana..star parivaar" :)) and its true..because the crunch of the audience watching SP is those from the small towns and most of the uneducated class... and if they can change the thought process of these people, then the educated class is no big deal ...

Shilpi, as a Sanaya fan, can I say, I agree with her! I too would agree wholeheartedly that Barun is lucky to work with her ... partly because it's Sanaya, and partly because she is a very generous costar - you'll always find her praising her co-actors enthusiastically.
DeleteBarun was nervous about the Teri Meri dance because he doesn't dance ... and she made it a point to tell him he was great. And when they were talking about romantic scenes, he said he closes his eyes otherwise she will laugh, and she chimed in, yes, he's a better actor than me, he doesn't laugh.
Besides, I felt it was silly to Noreen to say that - she said it not once, but twice ... I mean, come on, ok, Barun has a huge fan following but it's because of THIS show and chemistry with THIS actress - same guy, same face, same talent in his earlier shows yet he never got this kind of adulation. It's the character he plays and the co-star both which has given that added zing ... plus that elusive factor of luck, of course.
I don't mean the same doesn't go for Sanaya - it does - but she was more popular than he was when she playing a very boring simple character too ... and her character is more run of the mill, yet she's made it her own.
The character of ASR is a triple bonus for any actor to get because it's so unique, most heroes on Indian telly are totally bland and boring, and he's seized the opportunity and done a great job with it too.
Do you guys want a post every week with the offscreen segments? We're not getting too many these days - maybe once a month will be enough.

yes..u can either create a post every month or then just create one permanent post where everybody can put in the offscreen segments, so you don't have to create a new one each time...that way the discussions will also be segregated and ur blog will also be a lot cleaner.. :)
DeleteDiya, i absolutely agree wid wot u said abt Sanaya n Barun - both are lucky 2 have such amazing co-actors, who match up so well professionally and are wonderful people when it comes to things that matter! they together make this show wot it is today - no shaq! :))) though i dun blame NK for reacting like that - for 2 reasons, a) cuz she interviewed barun first and thats when she first realised wot a wave he and ipk has created..i mean, she didnt know the show much before that..so it was as if she'd hit by a storm..if u heard the show, she was totally in awe of the reactions from the fans - like never before..so i guess, she related much of that mania to barun and b) n i'm being very honest here, the overall reaction to sanaya's interview was relatively thanda cuz the novelty factor was lost and ofcourse, IPK has mostly female fans so its understandable..so i think her judgement was based solely on the reaction to the interviews and not on a holistic knowledge of their careers..again, agreed its not a very smart thing to judge on limited knowledge but its a live show, it can happen!
Deleteand now wot my point of reiterating that bit of the interview was the way sanaya handled that question - she has to be one of the coolest people i have seen..i mean, she has just the right balance of modesty and attitude - ALWAYS confident abt herself though NEVER condescending - a very difficult balance to maintain and she does it with such ease - its d most admirable quality in her!
and yes, i agree - she's a very generous co-star - infact, i feel she has this unbelievable way of putting ppl at ease..i have noticed this in her offscreen segments n in yesterday's show as well..its as if anyone can go n strike a conversation with her..i dunno if thats confidence or humility or a combination of both..but its just amazing!

@ S..sorry, don't know ur name! :) well, just want to add that, during the MJHT days there were always segments of Sanaya with the PH people and it seems like ALL of them seemed to love her because she didn't have one bit of that starry arrogance or attitude..she used to be as much at easy with her co-stars as with the cameraman and the others around her... they all really, really loved her! :)) its diffcult to remain sooo modest and soo down to earth with so much of the accolades and recognition that u are getting, but the fact that she is managing it, rather that it comes to her from within just shows HOW genuine and amazing a person she is.. and thats what even Mohit (her BF) speaks about her..I do not believe even for one second that he fell for her looks..sure, they might have been a part of the attraction, because he is human and he has hormones.. :P but the part that really, really must have touched him about her was this genuineness and modesty and down to earth attitude amidst ALLL the plethora of qualities she has.. and it was BECAUSE he could see all that in her that she fell for him in turn too, apart from the fact that he is such a genuine person as she says! :)))

Shilpi, I agree with you completely about your take - the right blend of modesty and confidence - she is completely comfortable in her own skin and has no need to pretend to be anything she isn't. And amazingly articulate with it ... one of the biggest differences I found - AGAIN! - between Sanaya and Barun - her ease on talking live as well as her diction - that part always has me impressed, because I hate people mumbling!
DeleteAnd Barun has that American accent from when he worked in his call centre or wherever, which makes him slur his words very often ... whereas her words are crystal clear. I have the same problem with my kids - they've studied in American schools and have strong American accents (which they tone down a bit at home) and I'm always after them - speak slowly! Enunciate!!! I think it comes from studying in convent schools - which Sanaya apparently has! :)))
And yes, coming back to Sanaya ... another facet of her nature was shown by the way she cared for those pups and kittens on the MJHT sets - giving them milk, etc, and feeling so worried that what will happen to them once the show winds up. A person's character really shows in the way they treat those weaker and more vulnerable than them, and those inferior - like you said, her segments with the cameraman, the spotboys, she would gel with everyone!
Not only Mohit, I think everyone likes her because of these qualities ... Mohit is also a nice guy and genuine, so that was why she fell for him ... I just hope he can deal with her stardom and not get insecure, because it's a big thing for any guy when his gf is doing better than him.
@mads - i know ya...i noticed that in all her offscreen interviews in mjht times n now in ipk - the way she talks to the crew (that autograph segment where mohit fell down laughing, rem?) and to the interviewer (recently in ipk - the day out wid SI - when she feeded the brownie to the cameraman also)...she treats everyone with so much warmth n respect, its incredible! seriously after listening to the interview yesterday, it was like revisiting all the reasons i loved her in the first place, a lot of which Diya has posted in her reply..as u said, one in a million, truly unique! oh n i'm Shilpi - nice to meet ya! :)
Delete@Diya - OMG, u r not gonna believe this - ALL the things u just said in ur reply are something i've posted on san's FC and that too in the last couple of days and i literally mean ALL...its surreal LOL...but i swear, i noticed the diction too..i love how CLEAR her speech is! and the difference in ease of i/v between sanaya n barun was very obvious - for instance, barun was hesitant to sing balwant kaur which is still a reasonable song in comparison to wot sanaya was asked to sing - la la la song, and yet, she seemed more at ease with it while singing, despite that she's not a good singer (as she herself proclaims..rofl)! and that kittens n puppies segment is really one of my fav segs of sanaya - shows wot a warm person she is..esp the way she was worried abt them after she leaves! and u said it, we all love her bcuz of these humane qualities..sonu said this on the FC and i think its quite apt - 'she's acts just like one of us and yet she's so inspiring...a lethal combo indeed' :)
@diya.. need I say HOW much I agree with you about Sanaya?! :))) Remember how we used to say that she is an extremely underrated actress..well, now she has finally gotten her due.. and by working with a plethora of good actors, I am sure she is going to improve a LOT.. :)) sooo extremely happy for her!! :))
ReplyDeleteu know, I was pestering my BF to watch IPK and I made him watch a lot many ArHi scenes during the La times.. ;) and he is like "wow..she is soo gorgeous!" :P and he couldn't understand why on earth is A still dating La when he has such a gorgoues and hot girl besides him..."I sure as hell would have done that!!" :P and I am like, "yeah I love her too.. so I am not sharing her with you!" :P ROFL!!
anyway but honestly...have never never seen an actress so amazing as her...have said sooo much about her already during the MJHT days that anything I say more would be a repetition..atleast u know everything, diya.. she is one in a million!!! :)))
My husband used to watch very IPK sporadically ... until the day he saw that SBS segment of Teri Meri ... we were leaving for the airport, I switched it on, it was fortunately the first segment, so I was like, give me five minutes, let me see this ... he came in all ready to burst - we're getting late, and he just shut up and watched that segment quietly ... mads, have you seen it? It has over 680,000 hits on youtube - it must be the MOST watched SBS segment ever!!! And since then he has been watching IPK regularly, and even keeping up with the story when he misses it ... he sure as hell isn't watching for Barun :))) He finds Sanaya very, very attractive!
DeleteThe other day he told me - why is she so dehati - I showed him her SPA pictures and some pics of her from the earlier award shows, and where she speaks flawless English, and he couldn't believe that she gets the small town girl mannerisms so pat when she's anything but that!!! Oh yes, she's underrated - she has always been underrated, but hopefully with this show, she'll get her due ... and we can see her improve all the time, she's working with really good actors, especially the senior ones like Jayshree T, Utkarsha, even the guy who plays her father ... and of course the younger lot are all very good, much better than her costars in MJHT - AB, RP and Mohit all of them are not a patch on her.
Am so glad to have my San fan partners back in action - yay! Rekha is another one :)))
ah.. teri meri!!! well, it was THE thing that got me hooked onto the show, diya!! :)) I haven't watched the SBS segment that u are saying...directly watched the video of them dancing and I was completely STUNNED..cleam bowled by her in the green saree..and if it has done so much to me..I can't imagine what it must do to guys..Mohit inclusive! :P and not only did she look good...but she emoted sooo beautifully.. and even Barun.. (even though he needs major dancing lessons :P) .. that I immediately felt the irrepressible need to start watching the show..and that to ASAP..and that was how I began watching the show.. :)) have a lot more to thank for that segment apart from Sanaya in a green saree.. :)

Did you read the discussion we had a few days back - Rajeev Masand, a very well known film critic - apparently the cats' whiskers according to Gargi, Shwetha and other experts - has listed precisely four tv actors on his list of people to watch out for in 2012 - Ram Kapoor, Barun Sobti, Sakshi Tanwar and Sanaya Irani. Look for the link - it should be a few days back - we had this discussion this week or last week - fairly recently.

WHOA!! :D that's huge...being counted in the same league as Ram Kapoor and Sakshi Tanwar.. really a big, BIG deal!!! :D sooo happy for Sanaya!!! :))) uh...don't know about Barun, IMO he needs to improve a LOT before being counted... but oh well, the looks do take over sometimes! :P can't deny that he is doing the job well too..I mean, playing an emotionless character and yet bringing emotions to ur face is no mean task.. :)

hey what u want to say..what contrats with her old show..pls dont comment without knowing..after mjht ended sanaya herself said that its very difficult to get awesome cast and crew like mjht..in mjht interviews also she has said many times that her cast is like her family...and mjht cast used to hang out together more than ipkknd cast...
