4/5 - Epi 245 ... Obliviate!!! - edited again :)

Friday 4th May

Am really at a loss for words to write about today ...
except to say that the writer of this episode should be shot ... then hung, drawn and quartered ... then banned from ever writing a single word again ...
And the episode can well be obliterated from the annals of IPPKND ... as Harry Potter would say - Obliviate!!!

The only comment I have to make is that Sanaya did the first half of the episode in her sleep, or when she was exhausted ... I could see the difference in her acting in the last part in the turquoise suit, when she was much more refreshed. Especially the part when Khushi was writing her will ... the only slightly tolerable part of the episode.

Bubbly needs psychiatric help ... so does the writer of her track ... oh I forgot, I had him shot, hung, drawn and quartered already. If the cv's have any sense, they will fire their writer and screenplay writers immediately ... their writing is grossly amateurish and their idea of comedy is horrendously unfunny.

I thought it was Sanaya who was traveling ... why were the rest of the cast on holiday? Including Barun ... didn't he have far less screen space today even in the GH scenes? Or maybe he was completely unremarkable ... I really didn't notice him, except for that permanently befuddled look on his face - quite understandable, actually! Ah, correction ... I noticed the white shirt ... :)
Completely fail to understand why the scenes were Khushi-centric - or rather, Sanka Devi-centric, when the actress was away half the week!

Really hope the cv's pull the track back to the drama mode soon ... I am this close to giving up on the show!!!

*edited*
Trying to make some sense of the episode on re-watch - don't know whether it's flogging a dead horse. First of all, the basic premise is so completely brainless, I want to fire the writer who even thought of it - and that too, right after Khushi extolled the virtues of her husband to her mother, and ended by saying he was the best husband in the world - in a tone that said she knew he was, just not when she was the wife.
So Khushi realized her husband has a heart of gold, and determines again to find out the reason for her shotgun wedding ... so far so good ... I would say, very good.

Then she goes to bed, said best husband goes to bed on a guilt trip, and puts off the AC when he sees her shivering. And that starts Sanka Devi's confusion - what is wrong with him? And the confusion continues - why is he being so uncharacteristically sweet?

Now how and where did that confusion that Arnav is being sweet, translate into the conviction that he was out to kill her because of kundali dosh? Oh, I forgot - that convenient conversation with Lavanya about getting rid of someone in 36 hours. And her confusion as to the reason for the wedding. Just trying to see how the dots connected ;)
(By the way, did that Kundali Kamlesh pay to be taken on the show?)
So we got the ridiculous episode on Thursday about Arnav's 101 attempts to kill his wife - all in her imagination ... and today, a continuation to the absurd. While Arnav adds to the confusion by playing house-house with Buaji - setting up her washing line with a noose, then a screwdriver ... both excellent murder weapons ... she screams her head off at Arnav with screwdriver, leading to a mild 'what the ...' expression from him ... really, Arnav?!
Khushi's one-liner was cute - name like a cannon, and all he can find is a screwdriver?! =))

And Khushi back to frying jalebis with a vengeance ... and she has lost it completely ... aided by Kundali Kamlesh ready with her Shok Sabha ... and my *head desk* starts ...
Hari Prakash crying was funny, actually ... the rest was stupid ... including Khushi crying at her own funeral ... and that reporter gave me a headache with his shouting ...
More OTT screaming from Khushi ... more *head desk* from me ...

Bubbly enters ... Payal gives her Mami's new phone to safeguard ... more *head desk*

Arnav worried about Khushi - she didn't eat dinner properly, takes a glass of milk for her ... 'tum theek ho? should I call the doctor?' ... poor guy is actually worried ... for her sanity, I think ... More OTT from Khushi ... more *head desk* from me  ... she actually covers her own face in her sleep and wakes up screaming - that was the limit ... I wanted to ffwd, except I couldn't, 'cos I was watching on tv ... and I wanted to smother someone too - the guy who wrote this crap and actually thought it was funny ...x(

So Khushi gets up in the morning after a sleepless night, and decides to commit suicide, rather than wait for Arnav to kill her.

And Bubbly has broken Mami's phone rather thoroughly ... if a phone broke into pieces after dropping on the floor from five feet height, it needs to be recalled ... Payal gets the blame, Akash nobly withholds scolding her ... and Payal cries silently ... *head desk* ... my poor head today!
Is Payal the heroine of the show, btw? She's definitely the saas-bahu type - cries silently after all the atyachaar ...

And Khushi decides to write her will ... even though she has nothing much to leave, but still she needs to leave something for everyone, be it ever so small, because it's the thought that counts, and they are all in her thoughts ...
Her first thought for Anjali and her baby, and their health ...
next for Lakshmi, who has been her silent confidante since marriage ...
next for Nani, a gift connected to Lucknow ... the link that always made Nani love her more ...

And then she comes to her own family -
Money for Buaji because she needs it ... Buaji took her and Payal into her home, even when so financially strained ...
Only love for Amma Babuji, because that's all she's ever given them, and that's all she has for them ... always ... from an orphan girl who they took to their hearts so completely ...
Salman Khan she keeps for herself, though :) ...
Nothing for Akash, but she clubs Akash and Payal together now in her mind, and she claims the right to give their children their pet names, which are so typically 'Khushi' - food oriented :) ... that they will remain as her memory for them ...
And then she looks at the stars hanging on her bed ...
I think she will leave the stars for Arnav, with the hope he can find his mother in them, the way she finds hers ... thinking of his happiness even though she thinks he's the one trying to kill her. Or she will hope to become a star and look down on him and safeguard his happiness in every way she can ...

On cue, Arnav enters ... again worried - Khushi tum theek toh ho?
Is that all he can ask? Seriously, Arnav! *head desk*
But although Buaji and Garima accept Khushi's beahviour as her usual madness, Arnav is the only one getting really worried ... the only one to sense that there is something wrong here ...

And she decides to cook for everyone for the last time ... to Buaji's complete bafflement ... and calls Payal to make her bequest ... keep my blue suit, name your kids Alu and Puri ... ok, ghar ka naam, not official names, I thought she'd lost it there again! And her confession - I read your diary, and I lit those crackers ... and I love you very much ...

Even the smallest serious scene, and Sanaya makes an impact ... why then the overdose of horrendous comedy??? Why this Kolaveri Di??? *head desk* again!!!

If someone is in the mood to make a petition to fire the writer Weird Raj and the screenplay writer and the director and the dialogue writer for this episode, I'm in!!!

*edited again*
After a good night's sleep, Sandy's usual sensible post, and Aaru's and other posts :)

Do I blame Khushi for being at the end of her tether? I don't actually. She's seen the cruel side of Arnav too many times to count ... every time he softens towards her, he follows it up with a rebound increase in nastiness ... take Diwali, take the farak padta hai, take the Payash wedding, and take the recent Heer Ranjha ... she has no clue where she actually stands with him. Does he love her or hate her?
His words in the post HR fight - I married you to save a life ... In the wake of La's phone call and Kundali Kamlesh, her thoughts - was it to save La's life?
He has time and patience for everyone else, he helps to sort out even the marriage of an unknown girl, Preetika, he believes in being a good husband and good son-in-law, he's been nothing but nice to her family ... it's only her face he doesn't want to see (after the Shyam's card on wrapping paper) ...only her that he doesn't seem to care about hurting.

Logically, she can't think of Shyam as the reason ... he should be angry with her entire family for hiding Shyam's truth, not just her, ... he should be angry with Shyam himself and have thrown him out of the house if he was so angry about his betrayal ...

She has seen the good side of the man ... she knows there is a reason behind the hasty marriage ... and she overhears him saying he is going to get rid of someone ... speaking to his ex-girlfriend of all people ... and she doesn't know the reason behind their breakup - BUT she does know the breakup was very friendly and amicable ... not bitter in the least.
And suddenly he's being ultra-sweet to her, while brandishing knives, screwdrivers, noose, rat poison ... every time she sees him, he has a potential murder weapon in his hand ... and now she actually can think of a reason why he might have married her. For someone who believes in astrology and horoscopes and jaadu tona, this is not really so strange ... in fact, if I remember right, Aishwarya Bacchan was rumoured to have been made to marry a tree before she married Abhishek because she had the same kundali dosh ... and isn't this was the 'manglik' dosh is all about?

So Khushi's fear is really not without foundation ... she has been correct in always trying to find the reason for her marriage ... now she has finally found one believable reason. She's found a reason why he would have married her, despite not wanting to in the slightest, why he broke up his engagement to La when she had been accepted by his family, and La didn't hold a grudge against him for that, why he still believes in marriage, only not to her ... even hurting Di would fit, because Di wanted him to marry La and was hurt when he broke the engagement ... the talk about saving a life fits too ...

So what went wrong?
The execution ... for me. They made what could have been a very serious track into complete OTT comedy.

Then I read some more posts here and thought again ... was that done intentionally?
We all know Sanaya is a fabulous actress, and although she does comedy very well, her biggest strength is in emotional scenes. If she has played this seriously, we would all have sympathized with her completely ... one of the comments here was that Khushi's thoughts of suicide would have been understandable immediately post-marriage when she was abandoned by everyone - family, in-laws, everyone. Up to Tuesday, we wept for Khushi. If they had kept the suicide track serious, it might have influenced susceptible youngsters into thinking Khushi really had no other way out ... and by extension, thinking that girls like her are in the same boat. As it was, in that one scene where she is shown writing her will, and then speaking to Payal, she moved me so much I almost forgot about the entire OTT drama that had come before.
By keeping it funny, they stopped the suicide drama from being taken seriously ... much like they did in the Payash fake suicide scene.

So on second (and third) thoughts, I will forgive the cv's for this one ... if that was indeed the thought in their mind, ... and if they make the final confrontation more serious and not comedic ...

This is not khushi's suicide, this is CVs harkiri..they have symbolically admitted that they have killed the script...story..they will have to mop around a lot of blood before they can get out of this mess...

Its true when people say time heals all wounds....Time has healed ASR's wounds, he doesn't feel anything..Time has healed Khushi's wounds khushi has forgotten her wounds inflicted by ASR...

    4. Rekha tum bhi kya yaad rakhogi (actually it is going to be so bakwas you will forget it), I will poorify your wish of symbolisms:

      1. Bua & Khushi trying to cook together: Too many cooks aka interference from Channel, writer, PH spoil the show.

      2. Mami ka phone tootna: Viewers ka dil tootna

      3. Akash cannot afford a better phone: Viewers can't afford any other show cos aur kuch bettern nahin hai.

      4. Payal's new haircut: We should all start looking for a new show.

      5. Making of will: Where there is a will, there is a way, start looking for other shows or rewatch the old episodes of this show or any other show.

6.Khushi's suicide: Show in the TOP 5 HELL BENT ON COMMITTING SUICIDE ON professional front.

      7. Arnav and Phaansi : For us the viewers to actually believe that an Indian show will consistently maintain its quality.

      8. Salman Khan: Or any Khan, Kapoor or Actresses for that matter, stick to movies, 3 ghantay may khatam and they don't overtake your life.

      9. Aranv not getting haircut: CVs refusing to Sudhrofy and the viewers being adamant in hoping they will.

      10. Arnav sleeping, Khushi worried: IPK team sleeping peacefully while the viewers stay awake over a show.

      11. Glass of Milk: Milk is good for health.

      12. 11 Symbolisms for 11 months of the show.

We can of course book the cvs for involuntary or should it be (voluntary) manslaughter for killing the show.

I think we should aim for murder in the third degree for killing the show and hopes of millions of viewers.

    6. Dia,

There were so many messages. I have a flight to catch in the next 6 hours so will leave you with some key things which struck me

      Ramble Part 1

      1. Wasiyat - not will but wasiyat. you bequeath to people - because they have the right to inherit and because you want to give them something to remember you by. Also through your wasiyat you want to say thank you for all they did for you in your life.

      2. Aatmahathya - agian not suicide but aatma hathya = aatma ki hathya. Death of soul and self!
Instead of dying a gruesome death at Arnav's hands, it is better I choose to end my life with honour like the queens of old (the pratha of Sati and Shiva's consort Sati. Shiva's consort Sati chose honour by death instead of insult by life.

Clubbing thurs and Fri epi, has not Khushi been cut by Arnav's words and actions, has her heart not bled (khoon?), has she not been suffocated and her please of reason stifled? Have not her dreams been poisoned because Arnav wanted to use it to kill a rodent? Has she not been hung for being selfless?

      3. In this regard thought of Jab We Met - The Geet who walked to meet Anshuman full of life and dreams was later discovered by Aditya to be a dead soul, living only in name - her essence drained because her faith / trust had been shattered. her love rejected.

      4. When she imagines people mourning for her, she does see Arnav among them but not Shyam and neither Anjali or Bauji. But arnav is there. Shyam may not miss her while Anjali and Babuji may be disappointed she took such a step and she wants to know she will be missed. Arnav's WT well thats the part of him she has been missing the most offlate

      5. The wasiyat naama - not just naming people but alos why she is leaving it for them - thus making the bequest priceless. the bequest which would just have been a simple item not of great cost is enhanced in VALUE because of the sentiment behind it. In her bequest she leaves nothing for Aakash per se but names his and Payal's children. She once told ASR that having a big balance does not matter but having a big heart does. And thus today she has managed to convert her humble potli into a veritable Alladin ka khazaana.

Finally she looks at the stars, recalls a memory and writes something. We always say, Last but not the least. Just because you name someone the last does it implay they mean the least to you or is it that theirs is the last thought you will always have because they are the closest to u? Stars -parents, mother, a son needing affirmation, needing to be told to trust that on dying people become stars and look down upon the living. 7. Ramble Part 2

      6. Preparing the last meal as per everyone else's favourites, jaat jaate bhi khusiyaan batornaa...

      7. Khushi's trust in ASR is totally dead. After he faked contunued loss of voice and lied to her about low sugar, she no longer is able to discern what in his nature is true and what is an illusion. her vishwaas instead of making her confident (aatma vishwas) has made her go down the path of aatma hathya!

She cannot tell anyone, shedoes not knwo why he has married her, she is unable to decode the vibes from him and she has clutched onto the only thing that makes sense that he intends to get her out of his way once and for all - has he not told her she means nothing to him?

She cannot sleep tonight unlike the previous night because of her fear and mistrust of Arnav. Where she slept guilt free the earlier day and Arnav could not, today she has stayed up all night because she is worried he will make a move when she is not in a position to defend herself effectively.

      8. Arnav rekha no longer on bed, Arnav seems to have done away with the stay away signboatd but now Khushi seeing the scredriver thinks she needs to stay 1 arm distance away from him.

      9. Arnav is worried for he knows she is in turmoil, she has been lying , maintaining a facade and he fears she is breaking down and indeed she is. She cannot even speak to DM and man halkaofy. Sba kuch dabaa hai uske man main.

      10. As Khushi remembers Arnav last in her will, makes me believe that the second file that has been hinted at will mention Khushi. Lastly but not the least for him too.

"Teri Duniya Se Ho Ke Majboor Chala
Main Bahut Door, Bahut Door, Bahut Door Chala
Is Kadar Door Ke Phir Laut Ke Bhi Aa Na Sakoon Aise
Manzil Ke Jahan Khud Ko Bhi Main Pa Na Sakoon Aur
Majboori Hai Kya Itna Bhi Batla Na Sakoon

Aankh Bhar Aai Agar Ashkon Ko Main Pi Loonga
Aah Nikli Jo Kabhi Hothon Ko Main Si Loonga
Tujh Se Vaada Hai Kiya Isliye Main Ji Loonga
Khush Rahe Tu Hai Jahaan, Le Ja Duaien Meri
Teri Raahon Se Juda Ho Gayi Raahen Meri
Kuch Nahin Saath Mere Bas Hain Khatayen Meri"

    8. Aaru,

Need to see Mon;a epi to see if it will go on lines of "if she is willing to kill herself so that he can marry the person he loves will that make him accept that Khushi is incapable of breaking Anjali's marriage. Giving her a chance to explain ??? "

But yeas I think he will feel guilt at having driven her to such despair that she contemplates ending her life and tells her Why he married her - my hopes!!!

    9. Ramble Part 3

      Payash scene

Broken phone = broken lines of communication. Payal asks if itcannot be repaired and Aakash says, No, yeh bahut buri tarah se toot chuka hai. Serious heartbreak in store for them ahead.

Aakash's patience with payal is wearing thin - he asked her to be careful. Even her tears do not move him as before. Honeymood perios coming to an end. And their fallout is always associated with a surprise!

    10. Sandy,

I read ur post with a lot of interest...u do have that special knack, i must say to, what is it called, dig deeper.......everything that u said makes a lot of sense...

I am forced to admit that perhaps this serial is meant for people who really can skim the surface, can look beyond what is apparent/visible...
I don't have that talent though i can appreciate a different point of view..If there was any way, Sandy, u should tell the PH guys to let u do the writing for this show....u will do a far better job, i am sure.

And inspite of everything that u said and tho i agree with ur points, i am not happy with the narrative becos it is not entirely truthful to its own vision...

On Payash scene, i agree....This is my reasoning; Payal had the moral duty to confide in her husband -to-be when the matter related to her first marriage fiasco took place, she didn't and to me that is a bigger fault than Khushi's...Khushi only did that to save Anjali and her sister but Payal..what did she do that for? So when the *shit hits the roof*, payal will have to bear the brunt...this is my view
If it was the PH's style of narrative to show the increase of trust in Arnav, or should i say, the ability to trust....and to contrast that with break down of all hopes for Khushi, they have chosen an innuendo-filled path. I wonder if subtlety could have achieved only thru OTT humour..or was there not a better alternative?

      Delete
    11. Rekha, I agree with the idea that payal will have a heavy sazaa for keeping this under wraps.. especially given the current situation that akash is getting irritated by payal's supposed actions, and the heavy mooning has been slowly wearing off..

I also agree that the storytelling is either far too dumb or far too sophisticated.. even for a thinking audience like us!! ( i am going with far too dumb :)

arnav has been shown as almost hypnotized at the gupta house.. the hateful but normal guy from RM has been transformed into a loving, caring, joking, milk-bringing guy... almost unrecognizable, dont you think?

okay, some things happened to make him like that.. but without R&R ladies to explain, who would have thought up the reasons themselves?? no wonder the TRPs are dipping..

normal audience sees the ruthless brother who hates his wife transform almost overnight to joru ka ghulam.. where is the explanation? where is the supposed continuity?

like Dia said above, we need a recap to show if the story moved forward at all!! hope the CVs do some sort of recap to show us why arnav is reacting the way he is, or khushi is acting the way she is -- so the normal people who watch the serial for 20 mins -- and dont think about it later.. can understand.

    13. Hi Sandy, you must be the most cheerful person on earth to come out with explanations like this after the worst(hopefully they won’t go lower than this) episode in IPK history.
Really, if there is an award for the most faithful fan, it should go to you!!!
Thanx for making me feel better.
Shwetha, Rekha rofl at your 11+ 1 symbolisms.
      Dia, U really unleashed yourself!
On the epi, I wouldn’t even dare to think about it once again. I felt like I was watching a new comedy series in SP.Strangely it was aired at the same time as IPK and even had the same characters. There is no way I can fit y’day into IPK.K planning wasiyat and all is OK comedy, but the precap of her attempting suicide - how can U explain it? Just these few thoughts:
      1. Will ASR be ever able to respect Khushi knowing she has tried to commit suicide?
      2. Will ASR ever be himself again near a suicidal Khushi? No more angry young man?
      3. This is what irritated me the most : the show is aired at prime time, I am not worried about teenagers, there are kids also watching the show sometimes. What impression would a suicidal heroine make on the young minds?
      4. Got a bad feeling the CVs are thrashing the fans for all the unkind comments in IF. How else can U explain this behaviour?

      5. I really hope Bubbly had nothing to do with the phone. If it turns out otherwise, this is a pathetic show.

      Jaya,
this show always had layers and the way they show the story is very different from other shows which is more straightforward. The problem is they have not been consistent with it since Diwali hence we are left wondering are they really that good or are they really that dumb.

Bubbly will have everything to do with the phone, unfortunately.

  8. for me todays episode was the most silliest of all..
all Arnav said was "Khushi tum theek ho"!!dude clearly she is NOT ok...aur kuch pooch nahi sakte the?like what she is upto? why she is scared of him all of a sudden??!!! guess he was not supposed to see the obvious!
Khushi naming her niece/nephew takes the cake though..bechare bacche...
for me this show has become so bad that i am watching other shows on various channels to do a comparison( dont hit me plz :) !!what can i say...i have loads of time and my show is going through a phase i dont like much!!)
i heard that DABH has the highest TRPs and so i got curious (really shouldnt have!) the girl CANNOT act, period!
the sisters show..i wanted to see how they show the cancer angle and boy was i disappointed..i was literally urging that Virat guy to REACT to the news...he took the news of the love of his life having cancer very well i must say..no change of expression what so ever..the right emotion would be shock my boy!! its called shock!!! as much as maanvi is completely OTT her sis is the exact opposite..soo stiff and always confused... my mom is obsessed with BV as much as i was with IPK and that is too dramatic for me..
IPK had all the right elements..and
Dia i think in yesterdays post you were saying the chemistry between the leads is gone..i think its more the track than the actors themselves..Sanaya has amazing comic timing, and Barun is great with his sarcastic one liners and smirks...the track in itself is so bad that even their comic talent isnt saving the show..but once the drama starts i think we will see the resurrection of their chemistry...both can do angry, emotional scenes really well..and now getting them back to their usual characters is the only thing that can save the show!!
for now i think i will watch the other shows..at least i wont have to cringe everytime i see SI and BS do what they had to do today!! will check R&R for all your takes of course!!
whheeewww that was a loonngg rant!! sorry!!!

So we seem to be stuck with IPK and waiting hopelessly for it to recover ... or for IPL to end ... or for IPK to end whichever comes first ...

Loved your reactions to Virat's reaction to Maanvi's cancer - oh, so he knows the news now?! If IPK is slow, Behna is worse - it takes approximately one month per member of family to hear the cancer news, I believe ... and the sister, the closest relative doesn't know yet - because she will be too shocked when she hears ... so I guess the news that Maanvi has died of blood cancer will be SOOOO much easier for her to bear *rofl*

  14. Dia and Girls - I'm at a loss for words too. Where have they brought this serial to? I'll be honest, I cannot take this comedy anymore. You are so right, Sanaya was on vacation, then why fill an epi full of Sanaya? They could have used the time to focus on other things, no I don't mean 'Bubbly'.

Completely agree, right now, their biggest issue is the team of writers, they need to be fired right away , that's the only way IPK can redeem itself.

What a waste of talent!! Both Barun and Sanaya should give a notice and quit.

I know I am in the midst of all Sanaya fans here :-) but these days I feel like going for the FF button whenever she comes onscreen. Maybe I'm equating Sanaya and Khushi and it is really Khushi that I'm having a problem with. Oh Lord, What have they done to her character?

My last coment - Here we have two beautiful people sharing a bed, and they show zero awareness of each other ? Have they suddenly become impotents :-) ?

Can't believe I'm ranting this way about a tv serial but at this point I won't mind if they take this off air. Can't bear this torture....

Sahana - Enough of ranting , now get back to work and don't watch if you can't take it but stop ranting !!!

    1. Sahana, we're Sanaya fans that's why we're furious with what they've done to Khushi's character!!!

The original premise of the story was the clash between two individuals who held opposing beliefs - one was righteous and value-driven, maybe a little naive, but driven by her morals and her belief in the goodness of people. The other was a hardened cynic, believing the worst of everyone, and driven by bitterness and hurt.

As far as I remember, the opposing qualities did NOT include IQ's at opposite ends of the spectrum - or rather, hers at negative 50 and his ... well, I don't know where his IQ is right now, frankly, he's not in the negatives, that's the best I can say.

    3. For people like me who have watched this PH's other show, it wasn't surprising. Geet was turned from a beautiful, touching and intense show into a mindless, shallow and undigestable show within a span of ten-twelve months and I see a similar trend here. These people seriously suffer for ADD (attention deficit disorder). They cannot concentrate on their own story. How can they expect their viewers to concentrate? Or maybe they want to repel us so much from the show that they can pack their bags and wind up the show soon.'Weird' is a term to be used for them for they boast about creating such 'weird' characters.

I think it's going to be a scene where she's about to Jump and he stops her and starts yelling at her and she retorts with what's the point of all this and what the heck did you marry me for if it's not for the 'sound' reasoning that kamlesh kundliwala gave!! And he'll probably tell her then- no you insane woman it's not because I want to do you in its because of the Shyaam affair. - imitate reveal is comic then Arnav and Khushi should just fall off the terrace in some comic fashion and be together in some far off world and let us get on with our lives. I don't mind if the build up is comic but the revelation better be sensible and not OTT.

Tell me something, guys ... if the writers and the cv's in their infinite wisdom thought that they shouldn't give any dhamakas during IPL, and hence we were getting these insane comic tracks, do they think that giving a dhamaka in a comic way is the best way to get TRP's back from IPL? I am lost with their reasoning, I have to admit!

  17. Chill guys...........In the old days, we used to overcome a bad epi or two (?) with the perspective provided by Dia's weekly recap. At the risk of sounding like an absolute optimistic fool, I do think that there is a method in their madness - CVs are taking Khushi to an extreme point which will force ASR to say the truth - the only thing that scares the hell out of him is losing a loved one, and Khushi's suicide attempt will fit the bill. Besides, his guilt trip has started and her schizophrenic behaviour is just going to add fuel to the fire. It's not that the PH has a bad idea, its just their mode of delivery from script, dialogue, direction and editing is abysmal! Once in a while, they come up with an epi that is utter perfection - a sad reminder of what IPKKND was and could be... :-(

Also, since they have chosen not to give proper dues to developing a parallel track(s) which involved Anjali & Shyam (initially they were supposed to parallel leads, weren't they?), the bigger story is getting hazier by the day.

As an aside, glad to see IF is also slaughtering them for bad story line and yesterday's Redux prefaced the analysis with a warning to Gul/4 lions to pull up their socks. If those guys pay serious attention to IF, then there still may be hope.

    1. Aki,
I think I need to do a weekly recap again, to sort out the mess in my head from the last three episodes!

You're right though - it will take something huge for Arnav to blurt out Shyam's name to Khushi - the fear of losing her is one such thing, and it's come at a time when he has started changing his mind about her and softening towards her big time ...

But the execution and their idea of humour SUCKS!!! The problem is that writing good humour is very VERY tough ... it's the toughest genre to write ... and these people don't seem to realize that. They think comedy can be used as a filler, but comedy has to be good, or else it becomes stupid. And that is what is happening here. In the effort to make the build up to a serious track not too serious, they have gone the other extreme.

      Let's see what Monday/Tuesday bring ...

      Delete
  18. Ok on the different note ----I was watching old scenes and I was thinking why did they include stupid comedy of Khushi's suicide to revel the truth?? If we see the major break thru from Bitwa has been when Khushi’s life has been in danger and we all know that Bitwa's weakness or the thing that will rattle him the most is Khushi leaving him in anyway, forever! For subconsciously he is aware that in any other way he has a chance to control – but death he can’t fight!!!
The first was GH, but the most significant one was Ambulance moment where he almost confessed with " Farak padtha hai" ! Next was
The Heer Ranhja, it was again an act where even the thought of Khushi dying made him say out loud and confess- "kyuki mai tumse .."
So it had to be another moment where she is taken away from him, inform of one thing he fears the most - death.
Hence the one more act of khushi's death to get him to confess, truth of marriage, and maybe his love ???
OR May be it is for Bitwa to realize and believe that Khushi is really innocent?? giving him the required mentos moment that - if she is willing to kill herself so that he can marry the person he loves will that make him accept that Khushi is incapable of breaking Anjali's marriage. Giving her a chance to explain ??? Is that CV's are trying show??
Remember Dia I was saying that when the truth comes out I want a lover and not the brother telling her the reason of the marriage, and also that the revelation would be in a heated argument but the base will be in his guilt, her hurt. Is that what the preeto’s marriage was for?? Or more so today’s will ?? and hurt that she is scared of him ??
I might not make any sense here, but I really want to make some sense of the whole crappy comedy and in between few doses of intense story, in simple logical way, So that I can still keep my hopes saying not all has gone down the drains.

    2. Aaru,

What u wrote is absolutely right....It makes sense....The reason why all this is not apparent to us is becos the characters (A_K) have undergone a transformation in the following ways

      1) Khushi is losing her ability to trust ( this change in Khushi is not evident to us as she is being shown as loony, her pain and fighting spirit has been cloaked in her "sanakpan")

      2) Arnav is learning to trust and is becoming more humane in his approach ( this is more evident as the narrative has done justice to his character while we have seen Arnav change)

It is left to the viewer's imagination to understand that Khushi is losing it....but CVs sprang this on us only in the last couple of days...becos until then we only saw her as a fighter not ready to give up...This change coupled with the OTT drama has been too much to stomach.
Also most viewers still believe that K has not realised her love for Arnav..

Also Arnav's dilemma of lover and brother has not been dealt with by CVs altho they have had more than 3 months to do it...so naturally viewers feel upset by this flip-flop

  19. Hi All,

I can totally sense the frustration of all my R&R buddies. I am equally frustrated at all this senseless comedy. Would have loved the revelation of the truth through an intense scene between the leads, but now it is pretty clear what we're going to get.
@Gargi - Your prediction is more like it, completely defeates the purpose of anything.
The excuse of IPL is pretty lame, all the other serials are progressing with their story lines , I don't see a pause on any one except for our dear IPK.
The writers are the culprit here, please fire that team and bring our IPK back from dead!!
Wait till the TRPs next week hit 2.5 but again I don't think the PH cares, teir hearts just don't seem to be in this one anymore.
    This is so pathetic.

And to top it all, we are all a bunch of losers hoping against hope that the intensity will be back after IPL. I don't think so anymore and at this point I am totally okay if they take this off air.

  21. More thoughts - added in the main post as well.

After a good night's sleep, Sandy's usual sensible post, and Aaru's and other posts ...

  22. Dia the problem isn't the comic spin on the suicide that we get to a certain extent and her reason is also perhaps acceptable a you said she believes in all this hokum... Fair enough.

What I just could not for the life of me understand is why the OTT comedy. I could swallow the comedy and explain and make justifications till the part where she started screaming her head off and tried to smother herself. Really now? The comedy if toned down might have actually been okay...

Also you mentioned Arnav had nothing to say except are you ok? - do you blame him! In his place I would have had the same perplexed expression and would also have asked are you alright did you hit your head? Are you confunded? And he even asked her family if she was ok and they just dismissed it as he craziness whats the poor guy to do? He's sailing with audience on this track.

  23. Also Another thing that's annoyed the audience- at least me is that after that beautiful Garima Khushi scene we saw a very perceptible shift in Arnav's thought and I feel if we'd been given one episode to see and appreciate it and then moving to this track it would have been better. A little gap and hugely toning down the comedy and maybe it would have been easier to understand and accept.

    1. hey Gargs - wrote something very similar just now - the poijnt is not questioning her thought process - if you look at it - that's ok - but the ott comedy is what is so tough to digest

  24. Dia and Aaru,
hats off to you ladies for having pulled out positives in the given situation!!! wah wah

essentially i agree with you two - death is the only thing ODB feels he has no control over (hence his over protectiveness with this sister- not even letting her sleep in her own room after the Scorpio thing!!) and so his fear of loosing his love may be the thing that gets him to speak up.

also agree with you that the situations have changed - ODG has stopped trusting (OBD at least) and OGB has started being human!!

But - what is rattling me is the way they have done it - the ott comedy track has ruined a potentially good change in characters - the story has slipped from being a well told crisp intense narataion to the absolute ridiculous - remember the nanitaal trip - that had comedy too but was executed so well!

the only thing i disagree with you on is- i am not willing to give credit to the CVs - dont think they thought through tough topics like suicide and purposefully made it a comedy- cant believe they 'thought it through!' - they probably did not think of suicidal track during the wedding coz till then our characters were alive (pun intended!) - so Khushi could not have thought of killing herself- - she was a fighter - now they have added it only as ott comedy (as a filler!) and trying to work backwards to fit it in the story!

SN - such is the obsession that the damned couple have taken over my thought process!!!! -
one thing i was thinking of - when ODG had said the famous - 'ek pal main unpay intna pya.. aur doosray paal main intna dar..' - i felt that she 'fears' his loving moments more than his anger - anger she can handle - she knows it! - its his loving moments where she is weakest - one, coz every iota of her responds to him and second - he always turns away from her after his half confessions - turns away in anger and that i feel is what she fears most - what say you all?

    ReplyDelete
  25. Oh and Dia - i too feel she will leave the stars for ASR - that should at least get him thinking - if he reads the will that is!! - the CV have a habit of building something and them killing it - case in point - the 'ma kay kangan!'

  26. Gargs and Mona,
Oh I totally agree with both of you - the OTT comedy treatment is what ruined the whole thing for me too ... I can't digest such stuff at all! That was my first reaction ... and second ... and third ...

Only after reading the posts here did I even try to take out some positives from the whole thing ... I can't blame Khushi for reaching her breaking point, but they did it through this OTT comedy track, which ruined the beauty and emotions of the whole thing ... maybe, like I said, it was intentional ... but I still don't think it was the right way at all, or the most effective.

Similarly, they haven't really followed through on Arnav's reactions after he overheard the Garima-Khushi convo - is he just feeling guilty for ruining her dreams, or is he actually having a re-think on whether she could have done what he thought she did ... after all, the entire basis of his hating her is that one scene he witnessed with Shyam ... and he has heard a zillion things to the contrary, is he still allowing that Shyam scene to overrule everything or is he at least starting to think about it? And if he isn't, why would he feel guilty at all - wouldn't he still think she deserved all her dreams to be broken if they were with a married man?

So on both sides, the thought processes have not been justified - they have masked Khushi's feelings with comedy, and they have actually ignored Arnav's completely.

Basically, I still hold to my first reaction - very badly handled and executed track ... the comedy could have been there, but toned down to let the underlying seriousness show through ... and the whole track could have been SLOWED ... with more of Arnav's confusion ... after all, Sanaya was away, he had ample time to shoot some solo introspective scenes!

Mona, loved that take of yours - Khushi is scared more of his love than his anger ... his anger she can handle ... but his love scares her .... not just because it weakens her, but also his love has always been followed by the worst possible hurt ... it's always when he has softened to her, given her hope that he cares, that he immediately turns round 180 degrees and lashes out at her the worst.

  27. OMG these redux dames are too funny - on one hand we are cribbing that the CVs have not thought things through and they are praising them for having 'gotten the moral across through a 7 interlinked fables!!!'

dia- yes i guess we all are saying the same things and trying to justify the horrid execution by the CV, like mothers are tempted to do - make excuses for their kids (bad parenting by the way!)

so i don't know if its intentional or just a bad job by the CV but this change in ASR is what keeps sending me back to the possibility that ASR has started doubting and hence done the digging and hence knows more than the CVs are telling us - or it could just be a bad job by the CVs!!

    1. Mona, I just read the Redux ... far too deep for me :D I just had a good laugh over it!

Yes, I gues we are just making excuses for the cv's ... I still feel they could have handled the execution of the last three days much better - light but not so OTT ... ideally, it should have been serious, because Khushi is finally driven to the point of suicide, and really, the fear of actually losing her is probably the only thing that would have made Arnav blurt out the truth about her and Shyam.

Has ASR started doubting Shyam and digging? After the promo, my first thought was no - he tells her he married her because of Shyam, which means he still believes Shyam ...

But then I thought - all along, he has believed Shyam's version implicitly, of course helped by that very damaging scene he saw ... and in spite of all the provocation by Khushi, all her attempts to get at the truth, he held his tongue, he controlled himself even in his worst anger and didn't mention the name ... because he didn't doubt it was true.
Maybe the fact that he has the courage to take Shyam's name at all, is because he HAS started doubting it enough to be able to finally ask her whether it is true or not.
      Did I make sense?

Let's see how the scene plays out on Monday!

    2. Dia exactly may be he has started doubting Shyam, or may be now his heart is taking enough trust to see that K might not have betrayed him ??

  28. oh and all - what the.. is this ss/os/ff business?

Dia - true - i laughed so hard too - couldn't believe that someone actually thought this through and 'connected the dots' so to speak and to think the ladies do it Every day!!! my god! i would die if i had ti think like that for two days in a row :D cant make out if the ladies are doing it in jest (like i read it for fun) or do they actually do this in seriousness!

  31. Hi girls,
Nice to see all of U R having a good weekend
I am back again with my ramblings...
I still can’t digest Khushi contemplating on suicide. I mean, all the comedy about her thinkng Arnav is after her life, imagining the funeral, making the wasiyat etc. can be accepted in the story. But there is nothing funny about the suicide. The moment she is up there on the terrace, putting her foot forward, they have murdered the character. It is unthinkable, unforgivable! They might as well make her jump and let Arnav get married to La. Or maybe he can send her packing at the end of 6 months.
Or maybe the CVs will be kind to us and all this is Khushi’s nightmare( a nightmare it is alright for me!) I really can’t believe Gul, being a woman can be this stupid.
Or are they playing a game with us?
Sigh… Or maybe some of that precious amnesia that is plaguing the characters and the CVs will rub off on me and I’ll forget this whole suicide thing ever happened.
SHIDDAT: please let this all be a nightmare.
THANX Dia, for this outlet. I am already feeling better.(banking on that amnesia)

  32. explanations..,
SS= short story, usually 1-10 chapters.
OS= one shot... one chapter story, (sometimes after repeated requests/inspiration to continue whith the premise of a story, a writer will add more chapters..
FF = fanfiction, from one chapter stories to novel length .

and redux.. well, it is the name of one IPKKND discussion thread where different commenters submit their analysis of the episode. it was started by two IF members screen-named thanthya and doodleberry, and usually contains reviews by many more. little difficult to digest on most days, but sometimes good ideas come from one of the 20 reviews!
