Random comments on today's episode ... as it didn't really deserve much thought :)
Shot before Sanaya left for the UK ...lots of solo shots, and the 'weird' comedy is back ... hopefully just as a filler, as the promo has finally aired.
First scene was the only one worth a watch ... and hey, he did turn off the AC for her :)
Barun needs to take care - he's getting pimples! Very distracting in the close up shots.
Kundali - random hysterical TV announcer ... blah blah blah. Khushi worries that Arnav is wife killer.
Mami spying on Payal bhootni ... more blah blah blah- knew we would get random RM filler scenes today.
Akash - Bubbly playing chess ... still more blah blah blah. She wants to get rid of his queen. Another killer on the loose here. Bubbly needs to find a playmate her own age.
ArHi - Khushi still worrying about Arnav wanting her to kick the bucket ... the only bit I liked - Khushi's first expression when she hears Arnav talking to La ... before it all got silly. And Sanaya kept Khushi's acting less OTT in this bit for the most part ... the OTT factor was the basic premise of the wife killer ... Is that what's going to lead to the promo revelation?
SN - Whenever Khushi is shown as a blithering OTT idiot, I can't enjoy the episode :"> Sandy's update gave me a better overview of the big picture (and calmed me down ;) ) ... so I will come back later with my edited take :)

Sandy, Jaya and all have given beautiful interpretations to today's episode, so I have nothing much to add :)
Just a few additional thoughts on the first scene ...
Arnav in his sleep haunted by Khushi's words to her Amma ... shielding him, defending him ... and he sees her hiding her hurt and the truth even from her own mother ... whom by her own admission, she cares for like a real mother, not a step or foster mother. She said he can't see her tears, her pain ... true, he can't, but more often than not, he has been the cause of those tears, that pain.
He moves to the window to gaze out, like he did once so many nights ago, with her at his side, when he lightened his heart to her ... would his mother be happy to see him now?
And Khushi's words ring in his ears ... he is the best husband in the world. And another mother's words, her blessing ... may Devi maiyya always keep you both together.
Is it possible? Can that mother's blessing come true? And could Khushi say that and mean it ... feel that way in her heart ... not just covering for his sins? Does he have a chance to reach for happiness after all ... the happiness he thought he had lost forever?
And he turns back to see her shivering under the blanket ... she knows he wants his AC, she never told him to switch it off even once ... she lived with it ... a little thing ... but it's the little things that make up living together ...
And he switches the AC off, and gets back into bed, looking at her now sleeping peacefully ... her face turned trustingly to his side ...
Maybe there is a chance after all ... for him ... for them ...
Maybe he can be the best husband in the world ... maybe they can stay together always ... maybe Garima echoed what his own mother might have said ... maybe this marriage can last longer than six months ...
And he holds her hand ... maybe he doesn't have to let her go after all ...

Fun movie, and had an underlying message that made you think :) Well acted - the guy is that Ayushman who hosts many music shows - he was good as the loud Punjabi good for nothing fellow! The dadi was class - showed how many elders are actually far more progressive in their thinking than we think they are!

Aaru, my feeling is that today's episode they had to do becos of SI's trip...they may not have shot the intense portions required for that track....so they had to these todays's scenes leading up somehow to the main track...else i see absolutely no meaning to today's epi..if i didn't know better i would think, i was watching some stupid comedy serial
it was totally "be sir phair" kind of epi...
the typical MUs any comedy track uses in such cases...
I gather the new promo has been aired and so this was the last of the comedy that we are going to see...Hello Hi to intensity and Bye Bye to comedy!! I havnt seen the promo but it seems instense, from reactions on IF. I would expect nothing less

btw, i just saw the promo...the promo by itself is nothing great...ASR almost deadpans when he says that he knows about Shyam....anyways..the real shoot will be different...But we can be assured that the silly games are over or are they not?
Exactly Rekha bitwa was not bitwa at all, he wasn't ASR, he wasn't Arnav, nor was he that lost lover, nor could i find him the one as fighting his conflicting emotions.

Somewehere I get the feeling (right/ wrong) that perhaps teh director is not able to translate the scenes into the true picture in an easily understandable manner or there are so many changes happening all the time that there is just hurry hurry and more hurry and rework.

As for Wednesday's episode, you put it in a vastly better light - otherwise I wasn't even planning to watch the repeat. I think part of the problem is the shooting cut to cut - they are really not able to edit effectively, and also that makes them put in the important scenes all together, without giving us some genuine fillers ... and so we tend to dismiss them if we can't make sense of them straightaway. Like you saw that the Akash-Bubbly playing chess had some significance, I just dismissed it! I think they desperately need two teams shooting simultaneously so that they can pile up a bank of sorts, and then edit better.
Will write more on your episode write up under that post - you brought up zillion points!

Dia watched yesterdays episode just before todays ....todays epi was obviously because of SI being away....as they couldn't shoot a single scene together .....but that cannot be cv's excuse..... What i felt is yesterdays precap had more to it than the actual scene

It could have provided a time space between Arnav's lecture and the groom growing a spine .... Again providing time for Mr. & Mrs. O'ho to deliver tumhari khushi mein hi hamari khushi hai ......no need of SaRun there.
Could have easily shown yesterdays Fantabolous Garima-Khushi-Arnav scene today along with bitwa sleepless reaction .....elaborating more on the morning scene and a very tensed bitiya thinking about yesterday, ac bundh kyon ki .....thinking of his good qualities and again getting conflicted with wedding and SR night events and what followed .....pal mein Shaitan pal mein Rajkumar

ReplyDeletedon't know what will happen today but have been getting this feeling (hope probably :D!) - but i had started thinking, what if the great twist is that ODB has a brain and has already done some digging on his own and does a Regency Buck (Gorgette Heyer) on us - meaning - he knows part of the truth and hence the softening and him feeling guilty and all -
however, know that will not happen otherwise he would not have remembered the terrace scene and stopped dancing with KKG at the wedding and now the promo says it out loud - my theory is no where close to the truth :(
Arthi - don't know about the eppi but the promo is definitely very poorly shot - seems very rushed!
Sama, would have loved that, they could have shown the whole Garima-Khushi-Arnav one today. there would have been a flow to bitwa's expression and acting all different. But as you said they like to make not only Khushi werid, but the episode too.

Back again with my rant this time .... IPK team are at the edge for God knows how many weeks now .... Shooting the day before ..... Why couldn't 4 Lions just hire another completely new/not established director for scenes other than SaRun and a new writer as it is supporting cast is not doing anything related to the story, job could have been easier..... Keep the usage of the set limited too Payash-Mami-Bubli scenes at Payash's room and Anji-Nani at DM mandir/dining space .....some not related but useful chit chat ..... Nani advising Anji on baby and stuff ..... Even today Buaji-Garima could have been shown to discuss Preeto's wedding ..... Today's episode was worse than OTT I would say ..... Atleast I could laugh my heart out at Khushis Swami

Sama, the Sanaya parts were all shot before she left ... today is Wednesday - if she was in UK on Tuesday attending all the meet and greet functions, with the time difference, she would not back in time to shoot on Wednesday.
DeleteWhat is unforgiveable is the completely random usage of the supporting cast ... the stupid Payal bhootni thing and Akash-Bubbly always playing some game or the other ... Scrabble, chess, whatever ... Akash stopped going to office now that big brother is away?! Why can't they write some sensible scenes for the supporting cast, rather than this bilge?! They NEED to build up some good filler tracks with the supporting cast so that they can stop this shooting cut to cut ... they have a big enough cast to do it. It just needs some proper organization.
And why can't they write sensible fillers for the LEAD cast rather than the 'kundali' crap?!!!

What I noticed was that Sanaya has huge amount of screen time through Mon-Wednesday, lots of it solo ... she must have shot like a maniac before leaving for the UK.
Absolutely, Dia....thats exactly what i was thinking...SI must have shot like a maniac but how sad they made her do such stupid stuff....I could bear to see it only becos Sanaya gives her 100% in every scene...
DeleteOne huge problem that this story faces is that since the love story has not reached the fruition stage...CVs may be worried to move the focus from the main leads completely..But this is something they shuld have anticipated considering they are the ones planning when the MU will clear...
Sanaya had shot her part with 100% in every scene .... as she is leaving they could have just spared her for a while .... and the emotional scenes they shot could have easily stretched for another epi or 2 if they utilized the supporting cast .... why subject her to Kundali crap at all ...... I would have liked it more if the husband killing wife and wanting to marry mashooka was watched by garima-buaji getting them all worried about that creep living in the same house as their daughters .... & why make viewers lose hope they gained over last 8 epis

RODL at ur Shyam buffoon comment. You seem royally annoyed right now. But I agree they have a good supporting cast and are not making good use fo them and creating meaningful scenes. If they had to air this Shyam khulaasa promo today does it mean the ME is next week?

Just that the flip-flop and butchering K's character makes me very uncomfortable....K has been shown to bounce back after every heartbreak....but this reaction to constant heartbreak is making a mockery of how sensitive she is as a person..

la is a red herring - no doubt. in fact am pretty sure the precap is a dream - that too KKG's OTT dream - so tomorrow is not looking good either!!
- useless fillers - really CVs you do have a team of people playing characters - USE Them!!
- only scene worth its salt - ASR getting up in the middle of the night - thinking about KKG's comments, going back and holding her hand so tenderly - really did look like a lost boy holding on to life / support /anchor!
- btw - Felt KKG being OTT - didn't see anything wrong with ASR today, he was fine, don't think he has forgotten the terrace scene but the freshest scene (powerful mom daughter one) is weighing on his mind - added to that, all that we discussed about his realizations regarding khushi during his stay at GH - so right now he is concerned about her! plus the whole episode is about an hour in ipk-narnia time - right? around breakfast and def. before lunch!
(ASR worrying about mom-daughter convo, holding her hand, gets my hopes up again - could he be at least suspicious of his accusation - could he be actually investigating and may turn around and do a RB? (oh forgot the damned promo again :( )

And agree Arnav was pretty much in character he reacts to whatever his latest realisation is- too much to expect him to piece things together... This happened on Monday so will react this way on Tuesday when something new happens he will react only to that- cant see the whole picture... So yes Arnav was very much in character and actually totally normal... Loved his 'what's wrong with her?' expression when she holds the ladle up and says 'Dalal?'
Another scene very much in character he doesn't outright tell her that he switched the ac off because she was becoming.

i dunno, i like OTT khushi.. how she chewed her fingernails like never before, how she was totally scared and talking to the kundali guy.. I was ROTF the whole way.
though i have a weird (ha! i used a pun!) feeling that the scenes shot for the promo.. where arnav had a knife.. had been track-changed and re-shot to make it more khushi-centric.
so why do they do that?? so many people's work down the drain.. because they take liberties, make last minute screenplay changes.. after half the footage has been shot!! no wonder these actors are so overworked!!
I found arnav in character... he was ASR, trying to be nice to khushi.. we never have seen ASR trying to be nice, so thats why his face had no expressions.. like in the beginning. (he was not chote in love,) he was ASR trying to respect the girl who lied for him (to keep the HMC act) so well that even he felt guilty.

Dam Cv's if they had shown whole G-K-A scene today, it would have made the whole linking and understand so easy.

The diary scene, i read ur explanation but to me it seemed more of a scene to strengthen K's OTT scene..In fact, if u see carefully, ASR's convo with La was also unlike ASR. while i accept that when they had parted as friends, he had developed a soft corner for her and so his mellow talk with her is not at all a surprise but his language certainly was...raaste se hatayenge...very Un ASR like...it would have better if he said the same things in English...."get her out of the way"....but since it was for K's benefit, it was done in Hindi...
Rekha, ASR seems like a chameleon.. when in rome, act like the romans..

ReplyDeleteWhat I don't get is we all keep saying that ASR will say to her that he knows about her and RRR and KKG will keep mum - why are we assuming that? why would she not at least try (in her usual convoluted fashion) to rectify or at least clarify the situation? We often go to town with our presuppositions, so let's see what the CVs have up their sleeves...........I am querying the assumptions we have because from previous so-called symbolisms, I would guess that ARHI would act as a team to out RRR....

DeleteI agree on this one completely ... have been meaning to say exactly the same thing. Bitiya might withdraw into a shell for a bit, but then she will try to explain to Bitwa why she kept quiet, and it was all for Anjali ... Bitwa might keep shutting her up at first but sooner or later he has to realize her words make no sense in the 'she loves Shyam' context, and then he might start actually listening to her ... and finally connect the dots the right way.
Bitiya will not give up for too long ... and now they have paved the way for Arnav to believe her by the GH track ...
Thanks for the link Aarthi...I think they shot the promo in a hurry and showed it only to reassure the audience who has been complaining about the lack of strong storyline for the past few months.They are dangling the promo like a carrot to hook the audience again....dikha rahe hai tuesday ke liye and stretch karenge chewing gum ki tarah uske next week tak. :-(

Given the way they r playing with the characterisation of Arnav & khushi...I have started thinking I wudnt mind Arnav getting kidnapped by Shyam. Shyam wud have changed the wasiyat in his favour and will kidnap Arnav to coerce him to sign it.Khushi will find Arnav and Shyam will tempt her with the money he now has and Khushi will slap him and tell him she will be with Arnav even if all his money is lost and wont be with Shyam even if he has all the money in the workld and ASR will hear all this and then we will have some great episodes. Shyam jaate jaate love couple ke beech bomb phodke jaega..he will tell Khushi that he lied to ASR abt her and Shyam and her Arnavji believed him...thats why he married her.Then...IPK will be back with a bang!

Rambling Part 1
ReplyDeleteToday was break day - Though they could have taken teh story the way u girls laid it above, perhaps they were trying to rake in the trps for last week by showing it all yday. Today in trp land is start of brand new week, so they have the entire week ahead plus the promo will also earn them brownie points. Plus Si will be back and shooting and they can plan for some real intense scenes next week.
"Kismat se tum humko mile ho kaise chodenge, yeh haath hum naa chodenge"
When teh conscience pricks, how can a man as upright as Arnav Singh Raizada sleep peacefully? He was called the best husband in the whole world and a mother blessed him and Khushi with everlasting togetherness and happiness. He had made a mockery of their sentiments - He who believes in respecting wife and her family, in standing up for her had disrespected her in every way possible.
He comes back to the bed and in contrast to the first day when he kept shoving her off, he willingly takes her hand today, reaching across the Arnav rekha, their hands held together forming the beginnings of a bridge across the chasm of mistrust that separates them.
"Mere Haath main tera haath ho, Saari jannatein mere saath ho"
And when she says "Humaara haat pakadke rakha hai taaki hum bhaag na jaayen" - How true: it was to keep her with him in any way possible that he married her. Even when she tries to release her hand, he wakes up as if from a nightmare with her name on his lips. Do you recall a scene (after the storeroom incident I think), Arnav had woken up in a similar manner calling out to Khushi (recalling her asking him to be happy as she was leaving his life forever and going back to Lucknow). Even then the thought of her leaving his life had unsettled him.
And as he wakes up, Khushi is initially stunned to hear her name from him and also to see him sweating and uncomfortable. She immediately reaches out to his discomfort first. Loved when Khushi asks Kyun Arnav started to walk away but then turned around and looked back - much like after the poolside bangle scene.
And all day long he remains cordial. Because he has sensed and seen the depth of hurt Khushi hides beneath her smiles and seemingly calm exterior. And Arnav in his way tries to soothe some of it away or at the very least not add to it. Also because a mother's happiness hinges upon the happiness of her daughter. Loved how he steps up to the window to gaze upon the night sky alit with the moon and stars and finally hearing the resounding words of a mother seems to make a resolve to himself to be the husband this mother wishes for her daughter.
The Number 36
1. Shaadi ke waqt kundali milaane par 36 gun milaaye jaate hain. Ram Sita were said to be a couple whose all 36 gun matched - a match made in heaved / destined but yet they faced tribulations for 14 long years.
2. Khushi speaks of 36 ka aankhda which is how their relationship has been so far.
3. Arnav speaks of getting it done in 36 hours - so Khushi will think she has a time limit of 36 hours / 1.5 IPK days before which she has to act.
Raaz khulne waala hai / aree seethi baj gayi
Yes the secret behind the marriage will be out soon and Khushi will be cut by the truth. Her heart will bleed. And the khoon khoon bit made me think, will not this revelation result in the "khoon / murder" of the Khushi we all know and love, her tender heart?

Khushi says haan kahbriji. balki woh hume unke pyaak ke jaal main phasaa chuke hain. :D :D (Khushi ke maare mere dil main sugar free laddu phoot rahe the. So subconsciously Khushi seems to accept that she is caught in Arnav's web of love)
Aaru - ur Iktara song was a real nice touch and I thought of it when I heard Khushi speak of how she is already caught in the web of love

Thanks bey! Its just that over time I have realized that sometimes the most inane looking epis of IPK are the one with the most depth and layers. Somewhere I feel that the execution is still not good enough. At first quick watch it was a WT like epi. But then you pause and think and realize theree are the hints and clues. Also did you think of Shyam when you saw the game of chess b/w Aakash and MsB? But the basic premise was the game that he and Arnav are playing to protect the Rani Sahiba. The rook Khushi also has a role.
I kinda liked even Mami speaking of Hanuman Chalisa - hanuman was the Ram bhakht who when reminded of his true nature and powers, flew across the ocean to Lanka as a messenger of Ram bearing his token for Sita.

Delete36 as a number is said to depict conflit. 3 and 6 though disors / multiples of each other face away from each other unlike 63. Chattis (36) ka aankhda is a common phrase in Hindi used to speak of a conflict ridden relationship between 2 individuals who somehow always manage to rub each other the wrong way.
Do a wiki search for 36. Got interesting notes on the number and its symbolism in math as well as religion.

DeleteYou need to pay attention to the hindi chattis. In the devnagari script (hindi script) if you see the way numbers 3 and 6 are written, they actually seem to be mirror images of each other. Its like if you write 3 and place a mirror next to it, 6 will appear.
So similar yet so dofferent :)
Oh and one more thing (ok ducks stuff all u girls r throwing at teh bak bak me)

Even if i accept all that symbolism, hidden hints...i can't accept the change in charaterisation to achieve that...while everyone has pretty much been in character during this narrative, i am only upset that K's characterisation has changed.
Yes, she is shown to be a "sanka devi" and if thats an explanation for all this, i am still not happy...K is then not the girl i fell in love with....or maybe i have not understood her well.
To me she was a fire cracker....she had bouts of madness that i love but when ur life is asunder, the man u are in love with is out to destroy u.....how can u react in this way? Am i wrong in thing this way? where could this narrative have been more effective for lay viewers..

The 36 ka aankda and 36 gun - brilliant bey! I was wondering why the number 36 - but never put any thought into it at all.
I was also wondering - how come Bitwa has changed his mind about staying on at GH? Yesterday after the Raizada Mechanic stunt Khushi pulled, he told her categorically that they were going back to Shantivan the next day. So is it going to be 36 hours more at GH - that is, another day and a half?
I completely missed the 'hum phans chuke hain' - the OTT TV anchor got me so annoyed that I just got the gist of what he was saying, and missed all the finer details. I need that re-watch!
Also, he reminded me of the TV anchor at the start of the show, who broadcast the news of Khushi falling into Arnav's arms ... and that started a whole chain of events ... wonder if this will start another chain ...
Rekha, you and I are on the same page regarding Khushi's characterization - I get very annoyed when they make her OTT. But after reading Sandy's take, and reflecting back - it makes some sense - her last reflection yesterday after reassuring her mother, and after seeing the two faces of her husband, was the thought that she has to get to the bottom of the shaadi - so in a way, she is just carrying on that thought - reaching for the first reason being shown so opportunely on tv. And of course we have Bitwa reinforcing that thought by his talk with La.
Aaru, the Iktara song was a great touch ... that verse resonates with their feelings ...
Rambling Part 2
ReplyDeleteThe kundali ka khulaasa made me recall Khushi's acidity and dhak dhak attack and how she mistakenly thought Arnav was doing jaado tona on her causing her symptoms. Because she had no other explanation to justify seeing him everywhere.
Today his eyes have been following her, she senses his presence all the time, he is like her saaya / shadow. And just when she is wondering why in comes kundali ka khulaasa further strengthened by her misguided interpretation of AR 36 K and a call to La.
- she does not know why Arnav actually got married to her
- she does not know why Arnav La broke up
- she knows he hates the very sight of her
- she knows he is man who believes in the institution of marriage and being a good husband
- she was shown to listen to raashiphal even at RM. so she believes in it even if Arnav does not (somewhere she is projecting her beliefs on to him). So Khushi is going to add it all up and come up with a big notion that he is out to kill her.
Also Khushi told herself that if Arnav's behaviour is off, there will be a reason associated and an account of it somewhere. And she begins to dig in earnest. So the eager beaver will be at it till she knows more one way or another. Btw in the diary scene, I took it as Arnav just continuing to be cordial or that he did not notice it in her hand per se but saw it lying around, assumed she had moved it when she was getting his towel and rather than make and issue and shout, just told her to put it back - a completely sane response from a man who would have usually blown his top - but last night weighs down on hiss shoulders and aatma.
Pressures are building all around - Arnav's guilt and his need to hate are making him volatile. Khushi's need to know the truth combined with a misplaced attempt to save her life will make her blurt something to Arnav.
Like all of u girls have been saying today looks very possible that Khushi accusing him of the very thing he thinks she is guilt of is going to cause some part of the truth to emerge. What if Khushi on hearing this thinks of engagement and tells Arnav "Hum aapko aur Anjaliji to chot nahi pahunchaana chaahthe the isliye humne aapse kuch nahi kahaa". Will Arnav even allow her to explain or like that day when he exploded over calling Garima Amma, he will again not give Khushi a chance. Need to see how this plays out.
Buaji's concern for daal - well she is going to be the first among Guptas to sense ki daal main kuch kaala hai when it comes to ArHi.
When after his call with La Arnav askes Khushi "Tum Theek toh ho and her saying Kyun humein theek nahin honaa chaahiye tha" Made me think back to a time when he had asked her "Tum theek ho and she had said Humein chhodiye, humko toh aap bhi kuch theek nahi lag rahe" Today khushi has been having similar thoughts about why Arnav's behaviour seems altered. She does not know he heard her have that convo with her mother but she sees his actions resulting from having heard that convo.
But the way Arnav has been keeping an eye on khushi to make sure she is ok after the previous night's emotional upheavals with her friends and mother plus him pushing Khushi back when she got too close to the fire, made me think that there will come a time when for Arnav it will be about
"Tu jahaan jahaan chalegaa, Mera saaya saath hogaa
Mera saaya Mera sayaa
Kabhi mujhko yaad karke, Jo bahenge tere aansoo
Toh waheen pe rok lenge, Unhe aake mere aansoo

Sandy, that is a brilliant take. I did not get the significance of 36, apart from the 36 hours Arnav mentioned to sort of La's problems with her agent. Has La taken to modelling, now? Anyway the whole Khundali thing reminded me of Ekta's show on the same channel a few years back, Karam Apna Apna. In that show, the hero (Iqbal Khan) marries a girl at the insistence of his lover because in his Kundali, his first wife will die. Since she herself did not want to be the one, she asks him to get married to some poor girl. The guy does so but falls for his wife.

I think Khushi will get to know the reason for their marriage in Friday's episode or may be it is the opening scene of Monday's episode.

DeleteAlso sudden recall of one more scene - Shyam had got a kundali made for buaji's sake wherein he had forefully matched the 36 gun. He had fudged the birthdate on it which babuji had caught onto. So buaji must also have it somewhere and it would state his full name nai? Proof which Arnav may buy but the DOB may confuse him.
I want to read more into hum milke use raaste se hathaayenge but am holding on to my horses.

- you know - i am day dreaming for sure - but when ODB held her hand - and looked at her - i too had the feeling he was making her a wordless promise, A promise to be the kind of husband she described him to be (which is actually a perfect description of him anyways, only marred because of his anger/reactions to the KKG-Shyam angel!)
that got me thinking and all hopeful (yet again) that ODB will come out the real hero and will know more about the angle than we suspect he knows - will have used his demagh and done some digging etc - but then this is day dreaming i know (specially when you have to deal with numbers and tables all day :D)

Actually did not pay too much attention to it then, knew it was for the ott khushi comic (hidden movement) track - but when i started to read all this - i only though it was money 36K! - plus my numbers are usually very small - scores of children! so no going into the k's :D

Agree with Sandy with her last bit ... when he realizes she is innocent, and she is as much a victim of Shyam as he and Anjali are, he will be her saaya ...(Love that song) ... and her dhaal ...
And that might be time for Shyam to justify his tag of villain and get even more evil ... once he realizes that Khushi is actually beyond his reach, not because of his own married/non-married status, but because she doesn't give a damn for him, and loves Arnav. This was actually given in the very first articles which came out on IPK.

DeleteReally, it was gud....personally, i think i shld refrain from commenting when i don't like an epi upfront...becos most of the time...i have gone back and revised my opinion after ur post or someone's else post in R&R...dimaag ki batti late se jalti hain...
However, i do stand by one aspect in all my rants....the narrative has to get better, its shouldn't really be a case where the most obvious and perhaps a serial's strongest point is not apparent on first viewing....maybe its a style the PH cultivates..they want people to dig deeper..

ReplyDeletethis guy has already realized that he is in love with her, wheter she deserves it or not. he shows her hate because he wants her to suffer.. but seeing her lie to her mom.. the one closest to her.. he sees her suffering in a new light. it is not about daily doses of pain or scolding, her whole life is a pain for her right now. .. and she wears a happy mask to show the world..to keep others happy..
he has never been like that, if he is unhappy, he takes it out on someone else.. heck he takes it out on her! every moment he remembers a painful thing, he finds or makes an excuse to hurt her.. ASR was such a rakshas because he did not care for the feelings of others.. it was his emotions and his decisions that held the utmost importance.
now he sees her, putting others' happiness above all else.. underlined by "ab itna kaafi hein, are you sure that my husband loves me? " and her emotional breakdown after.. ASR, who has been slowly softened by khushi's values and her beleifs, has a eureka moment..
so much so that he cannot sleep. and he gets up.. and decides.. he won't hurt her anymore. that is the significance of that handhold.. I promise i will try to spare you more heartache..you are the keeper of my heart.

The sadness, wistfulness that i felt, when i saw that scene, i can't express...
Somewhere i feel, the unexpressed feelings of these two lovers has raised this story to a diff level...it has helped viewers to see meanings in their actions to fit their own definition of love...and its an accepted fact that each person has a diff efinition of what love means to him/her.

I love his voice...even inane K serial dialogues used to sound gud when he use to say it. Many years ago, i used to see Iqbal Khan parts of a K serial, i forget the name now...just to hear him...but the serial was so bad that i had to give up after a few days...
Jaya, I venture to read the Redux thread once in a while - the first post is usually good and gives me some insights - it also often reinforces what I think, but doods usually loses me big time ... and then I give up on the rest! They dissect even the positioning of the characters in a scene!

Arey, I felt the same thing - the actor playing Payal has put on tons of weight - Jaya posted the scenes around the rain hug a few days ago, and there was so much difference. Her face looks swollen these days! Not even mentioning the rest - sarees are the best way to cover added weight! ;)
Jaya - everyday - are you saying they write such detailed stuff every day!!! - so basically IF has two extremes - young girls who cant write in English and swoon on Hotwa ASR or Older English Majors who can put Aristotle to shame!!

Random thought (possible multiple loophole alert!)
What if?
The MU we are shown is merely an illusion - a smoke and mirrors act?
Arnav decided to marry Khushi only to hurt Shyam - willingly making her the scapegoat in this mess. What if his dimaag did not go on that extended leave as we all assumed but it was his cunning to make everyone believe so?
For Di's sake, he kills his khushi of being loved by her and getting to love her. He proposes marriage in the most brutal manner ever telling her he will set her free in 6 months - for her sake. He needs time to set his affairs in order and put into place measures to ensure Shyam is bound to Anjali forever.(Main Di ki Khushi ke liye apni khushi tak chhod sakta hoon). He is hurtful of her to ensure that when the time comes she came walk free with no guilt on her conscience.(Di agar mujhe aisi ladki mil bhi gayi toh main use door hi rakhoonga). He keeps professing anger, disgust and hatred thereby pushing her away from him (because somewhere he could not protect her from Shyam and his evil ways; he failed her and is not worthy of her). The 6 months clause is purely an exit clause added in for Khushi's benefit. And she will be taken care of should she choose to leave. (Maybe he has bequeathed her something). Also by binding Shyam to Anjali and freeing Khushi he will secure one's future and save the other from the man's leching nature.
By marrying her he put paid to Shyam's plans. He could inflict misery on that man by touching Khushi in front of his eyes. The will is a ruse to distract the enemy. Also from the Payash marriage he knew that if he showed her love she might reciprocate with tenderness. But he did not want Shyam to have one more hold on him. So he does not disclose the extent of his feelings for her. When he fbs the terrace scene, it is like a whiplash on his back to remind him to never lose sight of his goal. It frustrates him that though he does not want to he has to be this shaitaan to Khushi.
What he had not bargained for is how he would fall more in love with her and that she would have to bear a heartbreak this deep. That so many dreams of hers will end up crushed. That she would care for him despite all the misery he inflicted on her.
The hurt he speaks of inflicted by her is her lack of trust in confiding in him about Shyam's true ways - of thinking perhaps that he would not believe her.
And in being married with her for a short while, he will garner enough memories to tide him through a lifetime. She will leave him and go just like his mother (it was a death of a dream that made him cry that fateful night. But he rose from the ashes with a resolve of steel to do what was necessary)
Thoughts are a result of the recent epis + an earlier thought that why should the shyam truth revealation be a violent one? + new promo where Arnav talks about the truth of Shyam and Khushi's relationship + the Ishaqzaade title track. Could be total wishful thinking for all I know :)

Sandy - that's what i meant when i said he knows more than we suspect he does - but i don't think he thinks (or started with thinking) of ODG as being innocent - i feel (rather hope!) he may have done a bit of digging and found out the truth later - hence all this softening

for me one statement by mami during that bahi dooj scene, i think"Yeh Di ki khushi ke liye, apni Khushi qurbaan kar dega" struck me for its symbolism then and it has done on several occasions, even after that. So much so that its a refrain as far as i am concerned.
I can't say that the scenario u have put forth is a possibility but irrespective of that, its a powerful one...in sync with Arnav's psyche
Also to add....Sandy, all this is when he still does not know that Khushi loves him and to think, if he has to go away from Khushi when he knows she reciprocates his love in equal measure...
ReplyDeleteAll, I have said this on many occasions and I say it again today.....it is R&R which totally raises the bar as far as watching this show....I dont know if the CVs really give this as much thought, but everyone's analysis here is simply fantastic! To take an episode which seems to be completely inane...except for the first few minutes and bring out so much meaning out of it.....this blog completes the show...watching the show without this blog is adhura!
ReplyDeleteI was watching some of the old episodes to relive the ARHI passion and really think that Anjali is the dark horse!
There is a sequence after Teej, when Shyam and Anjali come back home from the temple and sit in front of a havan and renew their wedding vows...In that, she repeatedly talks about Vishwaas.....and being a Dhaal for Shyam and protecting him while he is busy thinking of Khushi as he performs the havan!
Another clue that Anjali really knows about Shyam's duplicity is shown in an episode when Khushi goes to AR offices on a Sunday to bring back DM's murti...It is a Sunday and ODB also goes to the office. Shyam realizes that Khushi will be in the office alone with Chote. He calls Buaji and talks to her and also talks to Khushi on the phone when she is in the storeroom with ODB fuming over her! Anjali hears the conversation between Shyam and he mentions Khushi's name in the conversation, but pretends that she does not know anything. Its possible that Anjali always believed in Khushi's innocence.
Arnav is ready to sacrifice everything for his Di but never bargained for falling so deeply in love with Khushi.
There's going to be so much pain and hurt for these two in the next few weeks.....DM se dua maangte hai ke in dono ko khush rakhen hamesha ke liye. Sandy, I dont mind that both ODB and ODG sacrifice themselves for their sisters; that is how they are both made and will understand each other perfectly. But let them feel the love between each other and be soothed by it...My heart goes out to ODB these days, but he needs to walk this road to redemption by himself.
