9/7 - Epi 139 ... The Smiling Stalker

Wednesday 9th July

Episode was okay-okay ... too many BD's today. And too little of Paro ... whenever Sanaya doesn't have much to do in an episode, it drags.

Grihapravesh scene was nice ... Rudra's mind is completely in the gutter these days LOL And Paro doesn't mind at all LOL

Also liked the scene with Paro doing the rangoli and the stalker creeping up to the haveli ... the juxtaposition was good and actually scary ... heaved a sigh of relief at Paro's change of expression at Maithili's appearance, and the subsequent scene of the stalker viewing the locked haveli ... I was wondering how he managed to locate their new home so quickly. Was glad to see he had not ... but Sunehri's book, and then she herself gave the game away very quickly. Disapprove

Uff, how much that man smiles!!! Wide cheesy grin ... he has really deep dimples, though. Don't care much for his dialogue delivery ... seems to be trying to hard ... but then, the character is actually playing a part, so will give him some leeway.

Sunehri baisa, how can you be so dumb? The whole family has run away from home because of a mysterious stalker, and you blithely accept a lift from a stranger and lead him right to your doorstep. Angry

Am only glad the cv's didn't make Paro do this ... going by the way they have been butchering her character, anything was possible!

Did not completely get the VK Singh-Rudra scene ... was it to introduce the new guy, to explain his presence, or to lay the ground for Rudra's future absence, now that he's doing well in JDJ? The scene with the family was shot completely with Ashish's BD.
So the family continues to cross over to Rudra's side ... today Sunehri crossed the line from Mohini to Rudra ... have a feeling Smiling Stalker will find the weak chink in Mohini to get entrance into the haveli. Sunehri seems to have realised her foolishness, but Mohini has not. And Sumer is really bugging me these days ... the guy needs a brain transplant.

And again ... family is under threat ... so why were the gates left unlocked at night? And why is Paro going outside alone?!
Will the same precap continue for the entire week, or will we finally see the scene tomorrow night?

An okay-ish episode ... dragged a lot.

  1. Poor Sunehri gullible as she already is poor thing din't stand a chance against the stalker ke cute se 'gaal ke gadde', and those cheesy lines were right in place he was supposed to be overly sweet to get the info he wanted from Sunehri, he is one smart cookie alright job smoothly done!
Rudra has only one thing on his mind now a days does not leave any chance to hint Paro about about it, that too in front of holy akhand diya, that's unholy thoughts Major sa!! ;-)
Precap was interesting when they played last weekend! Playing the same thing everyday after that lost all its charm, get done with it already PLEASE.

  2. Enjoyed the opening scenes of today's epi - the haveli is GRAAANNND - can't wait to see the whole place uncovered of its sheets. I liked the element of fear in Paro and the juxtaposition scene.

What did not work for me: the body double and villain's dialogue delivery - whether he's trying to be sickly sweet or menacing, he just does not cut it. They got Varun's resemblance and the guy would do well as a model, but his acting/dialogue part sucks big time.

Question: are the main leads not under exclusive contracts with PH for these shows? How does it work out then that they are allowed to do other time consuming shows simultaneously? I get special appearances, ad work, etc. which are one-off and do not take too much time, but why things like JDJ and/or movies? Since the contracts are for a year only, these pursuits can be taken up post the contract end without detracting from the show. As a member of the audience, I find the scene(s) immediately loses its essence with a body double. Protecting the dia was one such glaring scene, especially since Ashish's hands are so graceful looking.......

Another thing, I remember Sanaya was offered JDJ but she declined as she was already female lead on show. So how come the guys get away with it?

    1. Ashish is making hay while the sun shines ... this is the first time he has been offered JDJ, and might be the last, if RR doesn't last till next year.

Sanaya is very clear - she will not compromise on her bread and butter, namely her fiction shows ... nor will she compromise on her health. She's not interested in BW, she couldn't care less ... The guys are a different story ... one torpedoed his hit show for a useless movie, now another one is busy torpedoing his show for his dance show. The sad part is the channel encouraged him, probably in the hope of improving TRPs, but they have a crazy way of doing that ... they don't promote RR, they don't even promote Ashish all that much ... how exactly is his going on JDJ going to benefit RR?

I only liked the Paro Maithili scene today ... both the actors are good, and that makes all the difference. Compared to that, the Sunehri-Villain scene was very mediocre - both actors are very average in acting, the guy was being very sugary sweet, it was supposed to sound false ... but somehow it didn't quite gel.

The family scene and even the first tiny PaRud scene were done with BDs ... killed the essence of the scene. The cv's had better not use Ashish's BD in any PaRud scene ... I don't even understand why they had to have that huge family scene with Rudra, when he wasn't there ... just have small scenes with Paro-Mala ... Paro-Maithili, discussing the stalker, Paro being scared, Mala comforting her ... how about Maithili starting to tell her about Mohini's plans for Samrat's second marriage, and then stopping, not wanting to worry Paro ... use Sanaya more. She was like a bystander in today's episode ... it was ridiculous!

    2. Thanks for the explanation Dia. Both Barun and Ashish seem short sighted as they like to burn the candle at both ends.
Akshay Dogra had said that Sanaya was one of the few people who did not have difficulty finding work - she should not given her level of dedication, commitment and professionalism. If the other guys did the same, they would go a long way in improving their own lives.
Oh well, as GH famously opined, "dekhna hai toh dekho" is what we have to live by. :(((

    3. Same here Diya, only liked the Paro and Mythali scene. Will have to see more of Vishal's acting to come to any conclusion about his portrayal. Did not like the Parud scene at all, BD was too obvious and that the actors were not together. The CVs should do away with these half baked scenes.

    4. Me too - I am not impressed with the kid's acting. He should stick to flirting with Suneheri - wait even that wasn't impressive;) ok- I'll give him some time. Otherwise a mediocre episode. I liked the opulence of the new haveli - at least worth watching because of it and the costumes.
      Nice take Diya. Missing shwetha.

  3. Vishal was not a good actor in his previous show on Colors called Bhagyavidhata, he had a meaty role there and his expressions nor dialogue delivery were ever good and it was even more glaring because the actress playing his wife was really good. He has a good looking face & body suited to be model, plus had also seen him in the MTV reality show which he won with this girl & got him his fame, don't want to sound mean but I always felt he was vapid with an always smiling face....always...get the drift?
But since then he had other roles too, none of them that I saw, so want to give him benefit of the doubt and see how he does. Because even the dude who shall not be names from all our favourite serial was not good was cartoonish in BHPH, but turned out to be great after a month or two in IPKKND!! Sanaya has the tendency to bring out the best in her co-stars, so lets wait and see what happens ;-))

    1. Dude that cannot be named, can be named here :) Didn't watch BS in BHPH ... I saw one episode before IPK started, to check him out ... was quite unimpressed ... but saw him in an ad, and was more reassured. Sanaya does have the tendency to bring out the best in her costars ... even Ashish has tasted his first major success with her, regardless of TRPs, so let's hope the same happens with Vishal.

I'm guessing that since Ashish is into the final five weeks of JDJ, he will want to spend more time on rehearsals now, so Vishal will have a bigger role ... I felt he was smiling FAR too widely yesterday, but it's early days yet, so will give him a chance. He seemed to be getting along well with Sanaya in the BTS, so that's a good start ... Ashish was very reserved in the beginning, and has only now started loosening up.

But I was not happy with the last family scene yesterday, with Mala going on about how wonderful her son was ... and Paro was just a silent bystander. It seems Mala has no idea what Rudra had become over the years, she has only seen the new improved Paro-fied version. And if this track is going to be glorification of Rudra, and as one-sided as the earlier ones, then it will be pointless. I would be happy to see Shantanu as a version of what Rudra used to be ... angry and bitter with the world and with Paro and Rudra for his brother's betrayal ... and as mean as Rudra used to be ... he slowly discovers that Paro is innocent, and changes, the same way Rudra did ... also falls for Paro, and of course this time, Paro does not fall for him, but is the main instrument in changing him. Thus making this a more Paro-centric track. But am not very hopeful ... let's see how the cv's take this.

Did anyone see the interview of Ashish and Sanaya where the reporter was asking some very silly questions? He asked if Ashish would get Sanaya on JDJ as a wild card entry - Ashish answered quite rudely that JDJ was not 'uske baap ka' so how could he do that ...
Sanaya made a small remark there ... that RR is Ashish ke baap ka, but JDJ isn't, and she won't be going on JDJ. Just notice her remark that RR is Ashish ke baap ka.

    2. Dia, what does "ke baap ka" mean? Sorry I cant speak/understand Hindi.

    3. 'Ke baap ka' ... means belongs to his father. Colloquial way of saying he has more rights there.

    4. He did that, well I did not see the interview, that's really rude and certainly not at all gentleman like, I know reporters can get really annoying with their irritating questions at times but still. Hmm may be my observation was right then, well you see I always read in IF how 'cute' their offscreen segment are, and I have seen quite few of them, I don't know why I felt Ashish always had a air of superiority in the way he used to behave with Sanaya, lots of videos are coming into my head now where I thought so, especially compared to that Sobti boy. Well its just my observation.

@ Anonymous, quote- what does "ke baap ka" mean? - even though I am not Dia I am taking the liberties to answer your question!! ;-)) he meant it does not belong to her father/ her father does not own it- it is not a nice thing to say, its certainly not derogatory but its not a pleasant thing either, I find it quite insulting actually :-/

    5. oops sorry, my explanation was for 'uske baap ka'- LOL.

    6. Interesting observation Dia! Trust you to notice that. I am surprised that Ashish pulls so much of his weight on RR. Considering Sanaya is the better actor. Ashish is good but not better than her.
As for Vishal - I hope he improves under Sanaya's tutelage. She does bring out the best in her coworkers.
Now that my MIL is here, we have taken the Indian channels and so off and on I see brief scenes of various serials. What does stand out in RR are that the actors look very good and act really well.
I wish the CVs had introduced Vishal as a very nice guy and made us like him before revealing his intentions.
Dia - I like the story you have penned as well. Time to make the serial Paro-centric.

    7. Archana, between the hard-to-pleaseTRP aunties and howling Phangirls, the Male Lead(s) end up gaining the upper hand within a six month period. So, no matter how good a story line was sketched, however brilliant the Female Lead is, the serial ends up being owned by the ML.................that is the tragedy of it all!

People like Amitabh Bachan and Anil Kapoor have the right idea (and muscle power to boot) where they dig their heels in and insist on a finite number of episodes for their shows. Wish the rest of PHs and Channels would learn.
