18/7 - Epi 146 ... The Taming of the Shrew

Friday 18th July

And thus begins the taming of the Shrew.

Which shrew?

Mohini, of course!

Who did you think I was talking about?

Update ...
Mohini got it from all quarters today ... starting with samdhi ... to son ... to brand new DIL ... to husband ... and finally from hitherto polite DIL. That's what happens when you cross a line ... and today she crossed them all.

There is a saying ... there is honour among thieves ... but Mohini didn't adhere even to that one. Not only did she try to deceive, threaten and finally force Samrat into a wedding he didn't want, she also tried to deceive Sisodiya, with whom she drove the bargain for his 31 year old unmarried daughter, by giving him her older, already married son, instead of the younger, more eligible one. Probably saving Sumer for an even fatter dowry!
However seems like Mohini's tide has finally turned.
Sisodiya turned out to be far more wily than she realised ... traps Sumer into marriage, made sure he had witnesses, remind Mohini of her deceit and threatens her to keep her end of the bargain or else ...

Samrat, when he returned, is livid ... and royally ticks off Mohini ... probably the first time he has ever raised his voice at her. No more good son and dutiful DIL ... well,Maithili might try to be dutiful, but Samrat will not stand for any more nonsense at all.

Next Shatabdi starts speaking ... and boy, once she starts, she doesn't stop. If Mohini hadn't realised till now that she had bitten off more than she could chew with this one, she probably started getting an inkling when Shatabdi started talking ... and talking ... and talking ...  ... demands introductions, and a grihapravesh as well!

Which has to be performed by Paro ... as Mohini is sulking and furious. Don't know why ... she's getting the 31 lakhs, isn't she?

So Paro and Sunehri perform the grihapravesh ... Shatabdi accepts all the traditions blithely, even asks if she needs to touch her new jethani's feet ... Paro smilingly refuses ...

Shantanu very happy with the turn of events ... more and more Brownie points ... from Samrat, Maithili and Paro ... his position consolidated.

Sumer called off by Mohini ... Shatabdi wants an indepth introduction to her new family ... along with her own running commentary ... Maithili the 'gaay', Mohini the paagal budhiya ... she's sharp, this girl!  Paro tries to rebuke her, but even Paro can't find anything good to say about Sumer ... so she leaves it at ... 'there must be something good in him, there is in everyone ...'
Optimism, thy name is Paro!
Confidence, thy name is Shatabdi

Seems like ... overconfidence, thy name is Mohini. Or is it more like, kutte ki dum kabhi seedhi nahin ho sakti ... nothing can straighten this crooked woman. New plots ... now to beat Shatabdi into submission.
She's chosen the wrong girl this time ...
Sumer is beyond redemption ... he still hasn't learned a thing!

I found one good quality in him ... he's useless at everything ... including beating a wife.

Next one to tick off both Mohini and Sumer ... Kakusa. Sumer doesn't get any sympathy there!
Paro cools down the warring factions ... what happened, happened ... now accept the situation and make the best of it. Mohini accuses her of creating the mess ... ay lo ... ulta chor kotwal ko daante ... first Mohini created the royal mess, and when her plans misfired big time, she accuses Paro. Fortunately Paro doesn't take that lying down ... sorry, I didn't create this mess, I stopped it from becoming a bigger one. Now you reap what you sow ... you wanted Shatabdi as your DIL, you got her. Deal with it.

But Mohini isn't ready yet ... another plan already. Darn this woman, her brain never stops ticking! Mirchi in the milk? What about the color?!  And a glass for her brainless Sumer as well? That plan was bound to fail from the word go ... Shatabdi is far sharper than that! Or rather, she's not as brainless as the mother-son duo.

In the meantime Rudra gets back home at night, to scare his wife, tease her a little ... learn about the day's events ... accompanied by screams of mirchi milk from Sumer  ... and also hear praise about Shantanu.

Shantanu sa ... not Shantanu bhaisa. Hmmm ...

And in the precap, Mohini gets her next dose ... from her hitherto polite bahu, Paro.

Nope ... today was not Mohini's day. Seems that the taming of the shrew has started.
Mohini is soon going to rue the day she planned to get Shatabdi into the family. Oh wait ... she's doing that already!

  2. Hi
Agree...great Title. Have one doubt....do you think Shantanu Sa was intentional or are we reading too much into it! Whatever happens, Paro can never never have feelings for anyone else... So why? I think we get very less of PaRud scenes so we overanalyse and overthink them......
Just hope Ashsis's absence does not make Writers destroy Rudra's character....he seems to have left Paro's protection in Shantanu's hands totally! We were sure he was lurking around.....hope next week proves me wrong

    1. I'm not sure if Santanu sa was intentional or a slip, but I did notice that on Thursday, when Paro called out to Shantanu after talking to Maithili at the puja scene, she called him bhaisa ... In Fridays episode she said Shantanu as twice. Now this is not anything about Paro's feelings, she will never look at anyone except Rudra ... but if she calls Shantanu bhai as, then Rudra will never develop any jealousy. And if the makers want to go the Othello way, then Rudra has to be jealous of someone.

I also thought Rudra would be lurking around, but seems he went off to the border for real ... Ashish's JDJ commitment is starting to interfere big time with Rangrasiya. He is barely there in the Wednesday to Friday scenes. He obviously bit off more than he could chew, or else the makers are purposely giving him less scenes in RR to allow him to concentrate on JDJ. Either way, he's actually not required much currently, if Rudra is around and gets fooled by Shantanu for a longer length of time, that would be a mockery of the smart officer he's supposed to be, so let him be absent. BUT in his absence, they should make it a more Paro centric track, rather than five minutes of Paro, and fifteen min of Shatabdi Sumer Mohini.

  3. hi dia,

its been a long time i know.i'm too busy in AD to even catch up with the show.ashish's absence is quite bothering,if i remember correctly, even drashti did not remain absent in MB in last season of jdj.though vishal is good,i really wish this track ends asap.its just that i dont want the show to o the othello way and shantanu seems a lot dangerous than thakursa.also his dialogues are really scary.and these days parud romance is nowhere to be seen literally.

    and i hated V K singh's scene with rudra!also transferrng the case from a major to a captain.is he mad?OK,forget it.

i actually needed to cler some doubts regarding the show and i know there's nobody better than u for that.so pls help me over this.others can join too:

1.who's actually the eldest son of ranawat haveli?rudra/samrat?in monday's precap, paro clearly mentions its rudra.then why is maithili calling him dewarjeesaa?? if rudra is indeed elder,he should be her jethjeesaa, right?

2.if rudra is temporarily suspended, then why he's still going to bsd?

3.will the writers ever understand this track is the reason for the crash in TRPs?people, atleast the general audience, are not interested to see shantanu's plotting and planning and will prefer YRKKH/QH over this.ST should understand that for whatever reason, parud scenes should not be reduced.
also, its better for rr to take 10.30 pm slot,as YHM is a strong competitor.

4.lastly,will we get an epi [or epis] like 20th june in any time soon?

    that's all,missing shwetha,lakshmi,rekha and MB.waiting for ur reply dia.

    1. Can only answer the first query Ratna: Dilsher is the elder brother whose son is Rudra and Danveer is the second brother whose first born is Samrat. It looks like Samrat was born before Rudra but because his Father (i.e. Danveer) is not the first born, he (i.e. Samrat) will be considered as younger, or "second-in-line" in the patriarchial hierarchy and therefore line of inheritance. So Maithli calling Rudra "dewarjeesa" is in recognition of their respective order of birth in the family.

I agree with your comment on Ashish's absence - if an actor chooses to take on a second job, and the PH acquieses, then at least the serial (and its loyal audience) should not suffer. Drashti managed to balance both so why do they have different rules for their menfolk? Or are the latter just better negotiators/deal-makers?
