Elopement off, engagement on ... and that, in a nutshell, was the episode.
The first half of the episode was paced well ... Shatabdi strolling into Mohini's room ... ah, Mohini wants her 31 lakhs, I knew she wouldn't let go if it so easily. Shatabdi wants her munh dikhayi gift ... and Mohini discovers Sunehri's theft.
Just as Paro comes running to tell everyone that Sunehri is missing ... and so is Shantanu ... money gone too, so she comes to the instant conclusion that they have run away together.
Since it is Paro's turn to have brains, obviously she is right. Plus of course, she's the only one who knows about the grand SuSha love story.
Shantanu and Sunehri ... drive ... then Shantanu stops ... his work is done.
Family drama starts ... Mohini of course blames Paro for everything ... first for putting ideas of love marriage into Sunehri's head ... then encouraging her to elope ... Paro denies it ... then for everything that has happened in the house.
Mohini seems to be echoing Sanaya bashers ... they would like to blame Sanaya for everything in the world too ... including global warming!
Paro drags away Rudra to tell him about the SuSha love story ... Rudra most unfairly gets angry with her for not telling him earlier ... Rudra banna, when Paro told you she had something to say, you first went off to office, then off to sleep ... shouldn't you have made more of an effort to ask her too? Instead of growling that she should have made more of an effort to tell you?
Did not like Rudra in that conversation ... although I could sympathise with his very natural concern for a younger sister.
As expected, Shantanu returns ... with hangdog look and apologies ... and Sunehri in tow ... he will nobly sacrifice his love, because he cannot see her parted from her family ... poor orphan soul ... yada yada ...
Paro gets in a slap to Shantanu ... Sumer and Samrat beat him up ... Rudra stands behind the curtain (or rather, his BD does) ... and tells them to go ahead.
Shantanu's noble sacrifice and sorrowful speech doesn't find many takers ... for once, Paro is unimpressed ... so are Sumer and the rest ... so the CVs picked another character to sacrifice ... Danveer's turn ... the fond father decides that an orphan BSD junior officer with no known family, is the best possible choice for his only daughter ... and the engagement will be ... tomorrow. No need to ask anybody from the boy's side, after all, he is an orphan.
Why do all soaps have engagements and weddings at 2-4 days notice, and how do they still manage the grandest and most fancy decorations and arrangements for them? Would love borrow their decorators!
Paro is suspicious and unhappy ... and tries to tell Rudra so ... only for him to growl at her again ... first when he suspected Shantanu, she told him he was wrong, now she herself is suspecting Shantanu.
I did NOT like that conversation, nor did I like Rudra in it. His tone was way too rude and harsh ... and his words were quite surprising. So has he really given up all suspicion of Shantanu and accepted him completely as what he says he is? I would have thought he would be happy that Paro shared his suspicions.
Rudra's character is being totally mauled and massacred here.
Paro speaks to her Kaushalya masi ... who repeats she has seen the boy somewhere ... line cut.
Cut to next day and the engagement preparations ... Paro distracted, waiting for the phone ... masi calls ... and the wonders of modern technology, she sends Paro the photograph of Shantanu over the phone ... a photo with Varun at his wedding with Paro.
Liked that last scene ... as Paro stares in shock at the picture, memories of her wedding day flooding back ... interspersed with memories of masi, Mala saying they had seen Shantanu before ...
In the middle, the SuSha love story starts ... that's Sumer-Shatabdi :)))
And in the precap ... Shantanu shoots Paro ...
Do the cv's have a train to catch?? Why are they rushing tracks so much?!

It was an okay episode, guessed that's what Shantanu was going to plan.
ReplyDeleteEverything in RR moves in a supersonic speed, looks like even Sumer-Shatabdi's love story is gong to come on track in a few more episodes.
And why was Rudra mad at Paro for not informing him about Sunehri-Shantanu? Afterall she did but ye toh gode beechke sooratha, even turned him around while asleep, he still din't wake up, so what should she do about it??!!
With the precap, it looks like they are playing a part of the spoiler, so does this mean the rest are coming up too? But one thing is for sure Paro cannot die and be pregnant at the same time, so which one is it, the former?!!! :-//
Probably neither of the two. Remember, she has a penchant for fainting & then wakes up at the wrong time - let's see what happens this time.
DeleteIf she doesn't die, then this is the second time Shantanu has missed his target - how did he manage to stick around BSD so long? :-))))
Hi Aki ,I hope you are right about Paro, I don't want her to die, but the spoilers that were circulating were saying the same and with Paro stating at the end of today's episode after seeing his picture that Shatanu may not be a BSD officer but a traitor , so are they going to show that he has impersonated to be in the army?
DeleteShe won't die for sure ... not yet, anyway. I think they haven't yet decided the track for the revamp. All I knwo is, if they make Paro dies, and Rudra go into crying bouts again, this time for wife, instead of mommy, the little audience RR has left, will also leave! Can't through more of Rudra's breakdowns again!
DeleteUrrghh ... can't *sit through*
DeleteWhat's with the revamp story Dia? Haven't heard that one yet.
DeleteYou are right about Rudra and his crying bouts - don't think many are left who can handle such scenes of his.
I agree I can't stand a rondhu Rudra, and this time he may go all Devdas crying ''Paro' 'Paro'/ 'khubsoorat aura't instead of 'Ma' 'Ma'/ 'Khubsoorat aurat'' ... :-/ ;-/
DeleteThanks Dia for the update. I have not seen the episode but from your post all your comments and the spoilers - here's what I have gathered :D
DeleteParo is shot but actually she's fainted because she's pregnant after the consummation last night ;)
LOL Archana that's a good one, if that's the case maybe Samrat has to take few pointers from Rudra! ;-) :-)
DeleteURGHH.. Sorry forgot to add Paro has become smart phone savvy, she may not know English but our girl sure knows her modern technology! ;-)
ReplyDeleteYou bet ... having said that, seriously EVERYONE and their dog are into mobile technology in a huge way in India now, down to the villages!
DeleteAlso, seems like Paro got herself a phone just at the right time. I would say Rudra got her the phone, but with the kind of gifts he gets her ... earrings, saree, imli ... I don't think he's the practical type. Hopeless! She seems the more practical one ... she would have probably saved her housekeeping money and bought it herself!
You are right every Tom, Dick and Harry own a smart phone now not only a cell phone, here in US I see kids who maybe only in 6th grade or so carrying around i phones with them!! And I still use my ancient Nokia regular cellular phone which does not even have a internet connection!
DeleteMay its time I upgrade too, Paro has completely inspired me today, hubby dearest its time for a thoughtful gift for me after loads of hints from me! ;-)
Didn't watch the episode yet. Read the written updates. Read another good post in IF. Just thought of sharing with you guys.

I guess all the spoilers are true. Like MB and Dia, watching RR has become a habit. Since, this is the only serial I watch, I am not wasting much time either. So, I will continue watching it till the end. Frankly, the off-screen segments are much more fun to watch, than the actual show. If the show is the way it is right now, it is completely because of the PH, CVs. I don't blame any single person from the cast. Ashish ignoring RR because of JDJ, Dillu-Mala missing are all pathetic excuses to cover up the fact that the writing is very very haphazard these days. The same writers did well when ASR went missing for some weeks in IPKKND. Now, why can't they show something better in RR? The Shanthanu track looked promising when it started. But I am not sure why the CVs are rushing to finish the track. The Laila track now seems to be much better than the current track. The major drawback in Laila track was Laila's act. But, she acted as a catalyst in bringing Paro and Rudra closer. So, it was ok.
ReplyDeletePeople.... wait with bated breath for the biggest medical / technological / scientific blooper of the era. Hope the CVs are truly aware of what they are doing to the show. Ashish said in one of the off-screen segments that the current events would be justified as the show progresses. Am not keeping any hopes. I have already detached myself from this show emotionally. But I will continue watching it, because of the cast. They make the script so convincing and real, even if it is stupid. As long as I am able to connect with the actors, I will watch it.
Eh lo ji, I gave into temptation and watched an off screen video of RR, So Paro is going to get Pregnant, ahem.. Major saab is one virile guy but that indeed proved the episode they showed 2 days back was not their first SR, it was any number but the first! ;-) ;-) Expectant parents seem really happy anyways in the video!
ReplyDeleteSo I have started believing the spoiler now, and according to that Paro is gonna die and she will be back as some improved English speaking modern version, blah blah... ya , my question is if all this happens how can the serial still be RR?? :-/ :-/, oh before I forget link below.
