11/7 - Epi 141 ... Shantanu Settles In

Friday 11th July

So Mr Shantanu gets more comfortable with the family, and the family with him ... all except Rudra, who doesn't trust him at all. Asks Aman to do some investigation ... did neither of them think of checking his photo ID? Or checking with his previous CO in Kashmir as to whether he is the same man?

Cute Paro enjoying Major-sa's jealousy ... but quick to reassure him that he's the only one for her ... as usual, she makes the first overtures, he rejects them, she tries again, he rejects again ... she sulks ... and he promptly melts.
Now why on earth were they postponing the big C ... it really doesn't make sense. Doubt they will show it now ... these two are a couple in every which way.
And as usual, the PaRud scene was cut short.

Shantanu flirts with Sunehri.

Mohini apologises to Maithili ... putting her off the scent.

Shantanu made dinner ... insists the men serve it ... Rudra makes sure only he serves Paro, not Shantanu.
Again butchering Paro here ... a village girl getting so pally with a strange man ... when she doesn't even talk very much to Samrat, her own BIL, so freely ... Paro was definitely not in character there. And a thumbs up?!

Shantanu gets sweets from Kashmir, Sunehri takes the last piece, Shan goes to get more, Paro sent with him by Danveer ... Rudra in the meantime snooping in Shan's room. caught by Shan and Paro ... Shan gives sob story about his dead brother, everyone falls for it, including a very sympathetic Paro ... and excluding a very skeptical Rudra.
But Shantanu is confident he has covered his tracks completely.

Sunehri see the picture of Varun ... Shan blasts her.

Paro asks Rudra why he still doesn't trust Shantanu ... and he should at least sympathise over his brother. Paro ... for whom family and family ties are everything ... Rudra, who still hasn't got over his trust issues ... he trusts Paro completely, but no one else.

Precap - Shan apologises to Sunehri, and in return, she tells him about Mala and Tejawat. She just handed some serious ammunition into Shantanu's hands.
All I can say is, I'm glad the cv's did not make Paro do this!

All in all, not a bad episode ... the cvs are building the track well ... if I wasn't so interested in Paro, I would be content with the way the story is unfolding. But I do want a stronger role for Paro here. This seems like it's going the same way ... everyone else is dumb, Rudra will be ultimate hero. If only they made it Paro and Rudra together fighting this new threat ... PaRud as a unit. But no, they will make Paro fall for Shantanu's sob story, and Rudra the only smart one. And in the process, butchering Paro's character ... she has never been the type to get friendly with strange men. She doesn't even smile so widely at Aman as she did with Shantanu.

  1. Wait a Minute why is Shantanu acting like he is receiving a brand new info from Sunehri that Mala is Tejawat's wife in the Precap? Because when Mala said in yesterday's episode that she feels like she has seen/met him before, I assumed it must be during Paro's wedding, is there anything that I am missing because I did not watch the few initial episodes of RR.
Plus its pretty obvious that something is wrong about Shantanu's behaviour, you don't have to be an army office to recognize that, so the rest of the family is supposedly as dumb as Sunehri?!!
Also if Rudra is suspicious of Shantanu why is he doing a big announcement of that and about his background search with Aman, aloud, in Shantanu's prescence??!!
Well I should remind myself this is a serial so if I want to watch it i must keep my brains aside, but that was the point of watching this serial because I thought I won't have to do that?!! :-(

  2. Thank You for the update Dia,
Track is building nicely at the moment, but I am tired of Paro trusting and Rudra mistrusting, wouldn't it be nice to turn the tables for once, have Rudra trust the army officer and Paro show some instincts not to trust him for some reason? Or at least as you said have them both working on this together?
All I've seen Paro do is samjhaa her major saab about his issues in the past few weeks, it's getting to be redundant. First Laila, then his mother and then here again.. The female lead should have more dimensions, its a bit thakka hua now. Please tell us Paro's story! It would give this serial some freshness! I am watching still out of habit, but if this is another track on Paro pushing Rudra to believe something and him refusing, then the story is not growing, only circling the drain :( Paro was so strong and resilient and smart. Let's see something different; some growth please!
On the positive side, I like seeing more members of the cast involved and I do like the new haveli. A new set seems like a great way for them to change angles ; a frest start if you will. Maybe define some of the other characters more specifically Paro and even Mala.
I dont think i made much sense but needed to vent and IF seems very volatile for past couple of days ! Thankful for this safe haven ;)

    1. Kiran, I SO agree with you on that one ... it would really be something different to make Paro the suspicious one this time, and Rudra trust the officer ... at least, they can show Rudra investigating Shantanu, and finding nothing, and Paro being the one to get suspicious this time.
But I fear they will go the same old way ... Rudra is wonderful smart, brave, clever ... Shantanu is of course very smart that he can fool the entire BSD, including Rudra's seniors, but not Rudra ... all the rest are dumb.

And then they wonder why they're not getting TRPs. Why don't they see all the TRP topper shows ... in all, the female leads are the strongest characters. Here, they have made Paro the weakest ... even her strengths are turned into her weaknesses ... and Rudra is the infallible superman. Am getting tired of it!

    2. Yes, Paro needed more depth of character and it would have made this show more popular.... but the show was tight and well written in the beginning. I still think Colors is the reason the show never picked any momentum, none of their new shows seem to be doing very well...., . It would have been nice to see the original written story for this show in stead of all these (failed) stunt tracks to pull in TRPS. alas, it's okay i will enjoy the ride...after IPK this show really did get me hooked....let's hope Sanaya is successful in her next endeavour, she deserves it!

  3. Hello ladies.

Didn't watch the episode yet. (That's 3 episodes in a row!) But from the updates and Dia's post, looks like Paro's behaviour is naivete. Let me throw my two cents..... I am not sure where this track is leading to.(Well, I am not complaining!) And it is too early to predict. The original intention of the villain is to murder Paro and Rudra. But, there are chances that the CVs might take the Othello track. I guess, I got this thought after reading a couple of posts in IF. And based on the fact that Rudra's character is inspired by Othello. My guess is that Shanthanu would try to create distances between Paro and Rudra. Personally, I would like to see a separation track. Not like the one and a half episode one at the railway station. But a proper track. That duration should be sufficient to make Rudra realize Paro's worth. I still feel that he got her too easily. I mean... his ziddiness, when he stood facing a fast approaching train, making her realize her folly. Like Dia said, it was nice and filmy to watch, but he kind of tricked Paro into coming back to him. There was a struggle, but not for long. So, Rudra should stay away from Paro to realize what it would be like in Paro's absence. And to figure out the truth. As for Paro, the separation track should be an eye-opener for her. She is smart, yes. But she is very trusting too. We saw that in Laila track. She believed all the lies of Laila. But Rudra saw through Laila's deceit because he knew her well. And this separation track should concentrate on Paro's feelings, thoughts, her struggles and the growing up she needs to do. Growing up?? Yes! Because Paro, despite her smartness is still a village belle and is very much unaware of the world outside. I am not sure if this storyline will be liked by TRP audience. But Shanthanu trying to murder Paro and Rudra for revenge, though bad enough, is a little less spicy (atleast to me). Especially, when the truth behind his entry is already known to the viewers. And torture to the mind is more painful than physical torture. So, this is how I would like the track to progress leading to another track. And Rudra does have a reason to be jealous and insecure. Shanthanu is good-looking. And Rudra is just a human. Well, we will have to wait and watch.

What say, girls?? I know, the track sounds like an 80s Mills and Boon novel. But yeah.... that would be interesting to watch is my point of view. Have to do a marathon to watch the last three episodes. Talk to you girls, later.

    1. Madhumitha, I agree that Rudra still needs to realise Paro's worth in his life ... he got her too easily and quickly, and that half an episode separation at the railway station doesn't count. He still does not appreciate her the way she deserves ... I'm hoping this track will lead to Shantanu trying to create differences between husband and wife, and Rudra's jealousy coming to the fore. Shantanu is good looking, suave, respectful to the ladies, sweet, charming ... and if he turns out to be a good fighter, and sets up scenes where he protects Paro, and wins her trust, then Rudra will find his position as her only protector also in jeopardy. And that is the part he loves ... he loves to know that Paro needs him, depends on him ... that is what makes that sense of being unworthy of his mother's love, go away. So if Paro sends him to the border with her blessings, saying that Shantanu is good enough to protect the family, that will enrage and trouble Rudra a lot ... a variant of the Othello track.
But how does that help Shantanu's motives? Breaking the PaRud bond would be sweet revenge for his brother's murder and what he sees as Paro's shameless behaviour in marrying his brother's killer.

Let's see how they take it ... if they go this way, it will be quite a dark story. Anyway, the writing seems to be on the wall for the show with the latest TRPs ... it will probably wind up in another two months ... let's see what story they can give us in this time.

  4. Hear, Hear, udthi udthi khabar hai ( ala twitter )that Mr. Ashish Sharma has bagged a movie role!!.( tweeted by his wife/manger ) Sanaya had once said in one of her interview during IPKKND that she is lucky for her lead co-star, she was right alright she is way too lucky to others for her own good, poor girl, the million dollar question is whether this hero is going to go the same way as the previous one with "my health has not been good/ need time to spend with my wife" route :-/

    1. :D :D :D ..... Lucky for her co-stars is so true MB - it's beginning to sound more & more like we are going to go down the old and tired route of "my health has not been good/ need to spend time with my wife" :(((.
I do so wish that Lady Luck would shower Sanaya with the good fortune she brings to her co-stars.

Regarding you first post, Shantanu was not part of Varun's wedding party - as this was a fake wedding, the party members were all part of the gun smuggling racket. Mala has not seen him before but it may be she senses a filial resemblance, hence the 'I have seen him before' mode. Besides 99.9% of the wedding party had been decimated by Rudra, so there was no chance of survival had he even accompanied them. That is also why he would not know that Mala is Tejawat's wife.

    2. Maybe Mala saw Shantanu when he came with the rishta initially or something .. or else it could be just the resemblance. With that, I have a feeling that Shantanu might get rid of Mala as his first victim. Vishal did mention in an interview that there might be some killings ... as the writing is pretty much on the wall for the show, they might as well stick to plan, regardless of blood and gore.

Sanaya is lucky all right for her co-stars ... they get their biggest hits with her. I'm sure RR, whatever the TRPs, is the biggest hit of Ashish's career in terms of the recognition he has got from it ... am also pretty sure that a lot of it is due to Saurabh Tewai and Sanaya being associated with the project. He has done a project with ST earlier, when ST was not such a big shot ... so it's not ST alone. And he definitely needs to thank Sanaya for refusing JDJ this time, so he got the offer ... if he hadn't gotten it this year, it's highly unlikely he would have gotten it again, once RR went off air. He's never been offered it before, for sure.

And I wish Sanaya would get some of that luck too ... especially in terms of the way her characters are written. If Paro had been written even half as much in depth as Rudra, the show might have touched the skies.

  5. a tweet from a rangrasiya fan, hits the nail on the head!

    Rangrasiya Problems @PankhiProblems · Jul 10
If #Rangrasiya wants TRPs the writers have to overcome their deep-rooted misogyny and invest in giving Paro a voice and some agency.
