The all-important question ... finally she asked him. Not just asked, she pounded it at him ... tell me why!!! After destroying my life, that's the least you owe me.
Such a pity it wasn't Sanaya's own voice ... would have made the scene ten times more effective with her voice modulation ... but her acting, expressions, body language - all fabulous - as usual. A reminder of the Guesthouse scene ... so one item on our wishlist - CHECK ;)
And Arnav too ... my first thought when I saw him pacing up and down was ... has his dimaag finally started the return trek from its holiday? Because he seemed to be waking up to the realization of what he had done, and the repercussions on the entire family ... the effect on Di, Khushi, Nani ... everyone he loved ... and he does love them all ...
One thought which came to my mind as Khushi ascended the stairs slowly to Arnav's room, entered and shut the door ... she is one brave girl. Bearding the wounded lion in his den ... only she seems to be up to the challenge ... and he seems to be expecting her ... She entered the room, closed the door and went to face him, to question him ... as is her right ... she is his wife.
The Shyam showdown ... so Khushi gave Shyam one last chance, Arnav has given him one last warning ... behave, or else. And leave my wife alone.
Precap - he threatens to leave the house ... with Khushi. And I was glad to see that Nirupam Roy was gone, and Arnav was back - leave me alone, Di, accept my decision, accept Khushi, or we're off. Not me - we.
Episode went pretty much as expected ... no major surprises, SO good to see the fiery Khushi making a comeback already ... the wish list gets its first tick mark ;) You just can't keep this girl down - she is a fighter all the way.
Payal let me down, but I still haven't lost all hope in her somehow - her and Akash.

Khushi stands abandoned by her family, lost, broken .. and Buaji deals the final blow ... 'today you proved that you're not our blood, you're not Shashi and Garima's daughter ... not my niece. We took you to our hearts, loved you, looked after you ... and this is the way you repaid us.'
How does she tell them that everything she did was for them, for Payal ... this is the cruelest blow of all ...
If Arnav has his demons ... of being orphaned, being deceived, being thrown out on the street, then Khushi has her own - of abandonment, of being orphaned, of having no one of her own ... no one to whom she truly belongs. And all her life after her parents died, she spent trying to make herself indispensable to her adopted family, doing everything she could for them, shouldering burdens meant for far older, stronger shoulders, turning an ever-smiling face to them and hiding her tears always, just so that she would be a part of the family, she would belong somewhere, to someone ... and they all let her. And today, when she has done the same, made the biggest sacrifice of her life, of her ideals and values, they don't understand ... and her worst fear, her deepest fear comes true ... that of being left alone again ... with no one to call her own.
And even her marriage is a marriage in name only ... for six months only ... and then what? She is alone again ...
Utterly broken, devastated ... Khushi moves slowly, dazedly inside, stumbling against the door blindly, not knowing, not caring, not seeing where she's going, what she's doing ... her whole being lost in those demons that have just caught up with her again ...
Payal and Akash are the only two people left in the hall, waiting for Khushi ... liked the little touch of Akash nodding gently, understandingly at Payal and then leaving the sisters alone to talk ... again, I have hope from these two.
Payal truly upset, distraught for Khushi ... she begs Khushi, tell me, at least tell me, I'm your sister ... you have to tell me, I know there has to be a reason ...
I liked Payal ... she believed in Khushi, knew there had to be something big for Khushi to have done this, she wanted to know, to share her pain ... and Khushi wanted to tell her too ... was deeply tempted, because Payal had always been a support for her ... but then this was about Payal ... if Payal decided her sacrifice was not worth it and demanded to let Arnav do his worst, if that broke Payal's marriage ... no, Khushi couldn't let that happen ... 'no, i have nothing to say ... and it won't change anything ...'
And Payal in turn grew angry ... so you don't trust even me? You can't tell me? You don't think I'm your own sister? You don't think we're your own, do you?
And Payal is hurt too ... I've always thought you my real sister, that you would tell me everything, but you haven't thought me that, have you?
Payal didn't say Khushi was not her own, she was hurt that Khushi didn't confide in her ... because she KNEW there had to be a big reason for Khushi to have done this ...
And she leaves Khushi alone too ...
And finally Khushi can give way to her tears and to her pain completely ... as she sinks to the floor, sobbing her heart out ... completely alone, completely broken ... but not for long ...
I said Khushi will rise ... this is her nadir ... no way to go but up ... and that's what she did ...
Arnav in his room, battling his own demons ... starting to realize the enormous repercussions of what he has done in his anger ... hurt Anjali ... caused Khushi pain ... and as he remembers Khushi's slap, Khushi looks at her mangal sutra ... what it should be a symbol of, and what it isn't ... and she wants some answers too ...
Arnav remembers ... shutting Anjali out, Nani angry, hurt ... eyes close in despair ... what is the way out of this mess?
Anjali sobbing in her room ... Shyam sees her, is least bothered, all he's worried about is that Arnav stole a march over him, and Khushi is no longer free ... he couldn't care less about Anjali ...
Nani, Mama in mourning ... Mami had the right attitude, I thought, ... really now, what's all the fuss about ... no one died, did they?
Payash also upset ... their wedding day became Drama day ... but they are together in this ...
Arnav Khushi again ... in their private hells ... they did what they did for their sisters ... but now they have to face the music ... and each other ...
And Khushi starts ... slowly getting to her feet ... a hell of a wedding day ... left alone by everyone who matters ... but she is not giving up ...
Slowly, more and more surely, she moves to where she has to go, where she wants to go, to get her answers, where she has the right to go ... pauses at the door, seeing him sitting lost in thought ... as lost as she's feeling ...
And moves inside, shutting the door ... shutting the world out ... now it's the two of them ... only them ...as it was always meant to be ...
Directorial touches in this scene were fantastic ... the way Arnav doesn't look up, doesn't move a muscle at her entry ... he knew she would come to him, he knew she would be there, he knew she would have questions for him ... that she has the right to ask those questions, because he has wronged her ... wanting her , needing her to ask those questions, because he needs to justify himself to someone and she is the only one who will dare to question, and fight for the answers, the only one he cannot shake off with his brusqueness ... he lets her see him in all his uncertainty, his vulnerability ... the complete and utter acceptance of Khushi in his room and his life ...
And Khushi in her turn, opens herself to him, heart and soul ... exposing herself completely in her turn, her biggest vulnerability, her biggest fears ... and he just listens quietly, only his clenching jaw showing how much he is affected by her words ... because that is the biggest thing they share ... the same vulnerability, the same sense of loss, of abandonment, of being orphaned ...
And when she says, without looking at him ... today I've been orphaned again ... whatever I did today, because of that, I've been orphaned again ... and he finally looks at her ... his eyes saying what he can't say ... I'm sorry, I'm so sorry ...
and then she gathers herself together ... to ask him what he knew she would ... expected, and dreaded ... Why???
And she looks at him ... Why?
I know you had a reason ... you must have, you have to have ... tell me ...
But he can't ... he can't face her ... and he moves away instantly ... but she won't let him now ...
One minute, Mr Arnav Singh Raizada! This is not your office that you can walk away ... you cannot walk away till you explain to me why you did all this!
This is my right ... my right to know ... you destroyed my life, you have to tell me why ... and I will not let you go till you do ... because it's my right!
A flaring Arnav-Khushi confrontation ... where a furious Khushi blasts ... do you even know what this mangal sutra and this sindoor which you put so casually, even means? What it means to a girl ... to me? You blackmailed me with Payal's wedding ... what did you want to get? What did you achieve?!
Yes, she knows he has a reason, a reason he's not telling her ... she will get it out of him ...
Does he stop to think that if a MS and sindoor mean so much to her, she wouldn't snatch them from another woman? Or was that his thinking ... that she is only waiting for Shyam to break those bonds legally, only then will she be his? And so he threw another breaker in - her own bonds, which he also knows she won't break in a hurry, especially with the threat of Payal's marriage? So he has wrest back control of the game from Shyam again ...
But her questions don't stop, so he throws the 'aukad' dialogue at her again ... it always hurts her badly enough to shut her up ...
'why are you angry? You got what you wanted - a rich man. Didn't you?'
Not this time ...
'That was not the answer to my question.You're not getting away with that this time.'
And of course he has no answer - none that he can give her. So he leaves ... leaving her upset, hurt ... but fighting still ...
Why doesn't he want to tell her?
The reason he gives himself - for Anjali. He will keep her married to him for as long as he needs, to safeguard Anjali's health and happiness. Not necessarily her marriage.
The real reason - he's scared of her answer. Of hearing her say, yes, she loves Shyam, and the moment Shyam is free, she will marry him ... Arnav can't bear to hear that ...
Arnav- Shyam face off ... Shyam burning over the sudden wedding, which he knows the exact reason for ...
Arnav coolly retorts, of course you know. That's why I'm doing it.
Shyam bursts ... she would never have married you, you forced her! The guy is seriously delusional ... but it feeds Arnav's fears ...
But he doesn't show them ...
Think what you like ... the fact remains, I have married her ... and now it's you who can't do a thing.
And Shyam gets another chance from Arnav - forget Khushi, stay with Di and child happily ...does Arnav really think that's gonna happen?
And yes ... one last thing ... Khushi is my wife now. Don't even dare go go anywhere near her.

Yes Khushi is finally back Dia..yayy and how!! :D She's indeed a fighter! I love this tigress Khushi, that's what makes her unique from other SP heroines! ;) and yes it reminded me of that guest house fiasco too.. glad that the CVs haven't forgotten to show her fiery side that too after all that has happened with her lately! And yes, really wish it was Sanaya's own voice but nevertheless Sanaya once again ROCKED it with her fabulous acting! Also yep Arnav is finally realizing the consequences of his actions and it is paining him deeply and he's gonna repent so much for that once he finds out how wrong he was about Khushi, cant wait for that moment! this misunderstanding track is already killing me..of all epis since last week, today's was the one I really liked! So glad to see the fiary Khushi! :D

Well, I just happened to stumble at your blog yesterday Dia and believe you have a beautiful sense of humor that you put into your writing! Kudos to you!!
ReplyDeleteAs for the show tonight. 1) I am in love and in awe of Khushi's character; She is feisty. And that been said she is to give Arnav and his beloved sister a very hard time in near future. I can't wait to see what salvation do the writers have in mind for him!
2) I have come to loathe Anjali big time! Can't figure out the fact that she seems to have seen the best in everyone despite of all the odds. And here she is bang on! with squalling since three episodes and God knows how many more episodes to come!!
3) I see Akash playing a cupid between Khushi and his sister and trying to mend things between them. One sensible guy with a small glimpse (reaching out to Payal and trying to infuse some hopefulness in her).
4) Though Arnav Singh Raizada trying to be ASR now; quite unsuccessfully though! but he lacks his usual shine and might touch! I can't lay my finger on something particular but he wasn't upto it I guess.
Looking forward for tomorrow; News report that Khushi is going to have a 'grihpravesh' soon..so much for Arnav threatening to leave the house..with of course Khushi..
Keen to see Gharwalo ka reaction when things settle down a bit..though I think it will take some time...SIGH..:((
Hi Smriti...I think what appeals to me about this show is that the characters are well developed and have realistic flaws(yep even Khushi and definitely also ASR).
DeleteTrust me I think every single one of us who follows(stalks) Dia's blog is sick of Anjali's tragedy queen sequence. But that's the way her character is. She lives in fantasy land where everything is perfect and she can't handle it when things aren't. Probably why Arnav is such a realist bordering cynic who feels the need to make sure his Di's world is at least perfect. Anjali has her positives...she genuinely wants her brother to be happy and readily plays cupid...remember tick tick one...? lol...Hopefully the cv's show character growth for her too...Meanwhile she wields a lot of power in RM and over Arnav and therein is a very important player.:-)

DeleteI agree with you that Anjali has her own positives and she wants good for her brother..That is why hate her character been turned to a whining sister..I mean where is the sweetheart gone!!..and may be when it would be the time for her to turn into sweetheart again the writers might step in and open the truth of Khushi being truthful..and then Anjali would start cursing herself again fr coming between Arnav and Khushi..
Whatever Arnav and she has gone through their childhood she should be shown as a mature person (though we have seen the glimpse of that time and again) and deal with the situation.

Getting the worst out of the way first, at least Akash has the decency to tell his wife, go to her she needs you. But Payal - *sigh*. She starts fine and I thought maybe just maybe she will support Khushi. But she was the weakling I knew she will be - how dare she remind khushi she was adoptded and that the girl has never considered Payal her sister (would Payal have confessed her love for Akash bust for Khushi; would mami have agreed but for ASR who was convinced by Khushi) (grr)

Now for the good things...
In his FB, Arnav thinks of how he hurt his sister and (YAY) he thought of how he got Khushi hurt - her mum slapped her (u dint see that coming now did you raeezaada)! Baby steps to redemption.He is restless just like that day when he came back from the guest house, like the day he came back after dropping her home on that fateful Diwali night, just like when she was getting engaged to someone else...Arnav burns in the fires of hell that he has lit.
She falls down shattered and when she has exhausted her tears, she looks around and realizes how lonely she is. And then walks up to their room (Haq se - no one needs to take her, no awkwardness) and closes the door. Sees Arnav all broken down and walks up to him and collapses on the floor. Poignant scene - 2 broken individuals.
He does not say anything and she starts of by saying as to how by what she did today she has been orphaned again. And he felt bad..(more baby steps). He knows the pain of loosing a parent and he never wanted her to loose hers. just wanted to tie her to him and save hid di. In the process he realizes he has hurt both of them beyond measure. He is burning in hell. He never realized the far reaching ramifications of that one rash act (yep dimaag went on chutti)
And yeah!! she asked and how! total guest house scene recall. And she went a step further. As he made to walk away, she held him by the shoulder and asked him.
Arnav took it all in today cos he knew he deserved it. He was silent (why I wonder? he could have told her that he saw her with her lover). That love is not far below the surface just buried under that anger. At the end he resorts to I dont owe all your Qs an answer (like the pool scene with chudis). Even when he speaks it is not a yelling (remember FORGET IT! GET OUT!) but more like a volcano waiting to erupt - the seething anger fuelling him to say what come to mind). He is hurt so he hurts her (yep ASR of the good old days). He runs away - is it cos he is worried that if he brings it up and she will make his worst fear come true that she will never be his though he has married her. He wants power over her, maybe wants that illusion that he can bind her to him if only for 6 months.
Part 2 - hit a character limt - bak baked so much

Sanaya's voice had to die today of all days!! Scene would have been 10x more powerful in her voice. But yes, I totally loved that scene.
Then he runs into Shyam. Fall in grace - from aap to tum. Shyam says I know what you are doing and our cool dude ASR says "I know THAT IS WHY I AM DOING IT" :D Tells him this is his last chance (cos he does not know the extent of rot in Shyam's nature - the attempts on people's lives) for his sis and says you try to reconcile yourselves to your future with my sis. Shyam burns and tells him "You made her marry you. Else Khushi would not have married you" Wrong dude she would have but another comment which will stick with ASR (grrr!!!) But I toally loved the scene where smug ASR (cat who has eaten all the cream) tells Shyam but you know "Khushi is now MY WIFE" So don't EVER think of or attempt to come anywhere near her. She is now off the block - no longer single and available to mingle. She is now mine (thought back to that scene where Shyam looks at a sobbing Anjali with loathing. His Khushi suffered so RB could have her dream bubble) Shyam is going to get so much more psychotic.
And the precap - a throwback to when nani refused to have him continue a relationship with La! Here ASR tells Anjali whats done is done (the first time he perhaps actually stands up to her so firmly and with a hint of ruthlessness) You all better accept it OR ELSE and his sis calls his bluff else what? - And bitwa says Khushi and me will leave this house. (He will leave the family the sister for whom he has done this)
Looking forward to tomorrow. :) More after I re-watch it all again.

I love the part where she closes the door. Sort of like ok enough. I took everyone's taunts, jeers and hateful words because I had nothing to say and that justified them. Now in the confines of our four walls you are going to give me some answers.

ReplyDeleteI loved today’s episode. It really worked for me.
Finally they’ve established all the equations properly. I was a little disappointed in Payal but having said that somehow no one in the Gupta family except babuji seems relevant. Their support and love seems so conditional that it’s pointless and insignificant. Yes from a relationship point of view I wanted them to show that Payal and Khushi have a bond as strong as Anjali and ASR do, but clearly they don’t. Anjali is pissed off at her chotey but she doesn’t disown him. Anyway I think the highly pathetic SR Payal has is just about all she can handle so forget her. Akash- I’m washing my hands off that one...Not a man...crucial spine and crucial mouth piece missing.
Moving on...I loved Khushi and Arnav today. Absolutely in character throughout and both acted so well; Barun especially was amazing today. I wish Sanaya’s voice hadn’t gone; the dubbing ruined the effect of a very important scene a little bit.
I like that after her last hope, her sister, also abandoned her and she broke down and fell to her knees sobbing (They pan to Arnav all distraught and upset, from what I’ve understood from the schematics of RM he can see her from that point right?) that no one came to her rescue. It’s sort of symbolic of her journey ahead. So Khushi the ever resilient soul that she is gets up on her own-she doesn’t need anyone this girl will make it, she’s made of sterner stuff than anyone else and I really liked that she got up on her own.
I loved that they showed Khushi’s thought process. Through all of this her primary concern-her family abandoning her-because it’s her biggest insecurity (after all they’ve jatoed it to her so much how could she not be insecure) and then her own reputation that he’s ruined. And she asks the all important Why. She kept quiet in front of everyone. Held her tongue but when it came to Arnav she closed the door and fought back because he’s the only one who she has the right to demand answers from, he without giving her rhyme or reason made her do something against her every principle. Had she not asked him why and just fallen to the ground crying again I would have lost all respect for her. But she asked him again and again and even when he brushes her off with his aukaad insult she grabbed his shirt not backing down. She absolutely manhandled him back. Khushi’s character was maintained beautifully today.
But Barun was the one who really made the episode amazing. From a character point of view perhaps ASR would have told Khushi ‘WHY’ but obviously the story can’t allow that just yet so the next closest reaction to Arnav’s character-ignoring her, insulting her, refusing to answer her.
I don’t know whether Arnav could see Khushi break down and that’s why he was so upset or it was the flashback of his Di’s heartbreak and Khushi being disowned by Garima, but his angst was palpable. The scene where Khushi tells him I’m once again an orphan because of the actions we took tonight, His empathy was evident. He knows how deep that hurt goes. He feels it too, really wouldn’t wish that on anyone. And when she kept pushing and pushing you could almost see Arnav thinking how she can possibly be what I’ve seen her to be? You can feel the pull towards her and still revulsion at who she turned out to be. Then she threw every question about sindhoor and mangalsutra at him that she faced alone and his expression -how hypocritical she looks- clearly etched on his face. How dare she talk about the sanctity of marriage and have an affair with his jijaji. He breaks. ASR’ cold veneer up again. Amiir Aadmi. That taunt she’s used to. I don’t owe you and explanation. Period.
And finally that very abrupt Shyaam Arnav confrontation. Where was he coming from? Going? Arnav obviously says with full haq of a pati –MY WIFE –OFF LIMITS. But more than the hateful stare or the propriety with which he says ‘meri patni’ I like the way he addresses Shyaam...Cold. Victorious. Ruthless. Rubbing it in his face...I want to see more of that than crying and hasty rash decision making. Also like that he doesn’t answer when Shyaam says Khushi would never willingly marry you, semi flinchs(abhi farak padta hai kya?) but to shyaam replies think what you want. He doesn’t tell Shyaam his equation with his wife.

DeleteI think it was all the pent up emotions..we finally got a much needed episode with some solid Arnav Khushi scenes...
I'm okay with how things are playing out, now that they've shown that Khushi hasn't lost her fight and Arnav hasn't lost his marbles and is still the ruthless ASR who can handle a psycho like Shyaam I can breathe.
Khushi's going to be fighting her own battles, so let ASR be the one to handle Shyaam and his manipulative schemes. Anyway watching the two men face off is far more gratifying than watching Shyaam assault Khushi who is oh so tiny. Somehow even though Arnav has manhandled her so many times its ok...dude he also went berserk when she got hurt...un dono ka haq hai ek doosre par but that Shyaam's grabbing during sangeet and iron tight hug on the terrace...Arnav will do solid dhulai of shyaam for that eventually...then he can channel Payal-laundry queen and our very on Shwetha and her virtual danda;-)

DeleteToday was a non-glycerine heavy day after a while plus we already had the shocking terrace scene, sudden marriage and family reactions done - so yes can exhale and start focussing on the lead pair. Arnav is going to be very very alert with Shyam - one toe out of the line and he will pounce. Shyam has not seen Arnav's havy duty pyaar (his tum theek ho's, the accident reaction etc.) All he knows of is a growing infatuation and the nok jhoks. He does not know of the near miss Diwali incident and the high passion levels these 2 individuals have.
I so want Shyam to try to manhandle Khushi now and just see what happens to him then - i pray that spoiler is true.
And that bit about him telling Arnav she wouldn;t have married you had you not forced her well that is Arnav's deepest insecurity that she will leave him. If he brings Shyam up then she will tell him of her "love" for him (EWWW - Dettol rinse)and Arnav cannot take it. He does not want to hear it.
Our wishlist is becoming its own saga na:-) but yes I want a scene where Shyaam grabs her and ASR goes all kung fu hustle on him(remember the dhaaba goons?)
DeleteExactly!! poor Arnav!..He's sooo in love with Khushi, in spite of all his inhibitions he managed to fall for her and then within 5 minutes it came crashing about him. He's devasted and can't even wallow, he has to take action. He already knows (thinks he knows)...and doesn't need to hurt all over again hearing Khushi's undying declaration of love for that slimy toad (Ditto Dettol rinse-ahaha)...
Gargi, they will save the best for last, Shyaam getting peetofied will deserve a promo of its own.

Shyam's three weapons are anjali, arnav's insecurity about khushi and Khushi's ignorance about why arnav married her. He will try to manipulate that to the fullest.
Which is why hopefully today's confrontation (dont have much hope on it) should give some proof to arnav and khushi about why each is acting the way they are.
hey, my two bits - Finally the question!!! but will this day never end!! funny how everything gets sorted out in the background - guest have left (no one talked of dinner - am sure you feed you guests at a wedding!), the room got cleaned - all the mattresses etc cleared, the bride (comparatively old one) goes off to her room and sits like an expectant bride! and of course all cry and cry and cry... but no one helps the new bride! that i think was unforgivable! hope the story moves faster before it becomes one of the regular SP shows. but completely agree - Khushi's voice was missed big time, whoever it was just could not do justice to Khushi!

Deleteps. i know this is kind of personal but still wanted to know if this is normal - i am a 36 year old woman, mother of a ten year old but i am behaving like a giddy teenager giggling at all the romantic scenes and worrying about the leads and their story forward!!! - and this considering i never watch any serial like an addict (cant stand the very OTT women who are no more than weeping willows and the spineless in the background men that are generally portrayed on the Indian small screen!) i actually think of what will happen to Arnav and Khushi and get irritated that they cant see how perfect they are for each other - how perfectly equal!!! Help - is it only me or are you all a bit insane like me???

I like fiesty heroines, so most of the saas-bahu soaps are complete no-nos for me ... the only ones I currently watch apart from IPKKND are SGP and Maryada, where the women are strong and have some brains, although even in Maryada, the brains go for a toss sometimes! SGP - the lead is brainless, but I like the family and the fact that the sasuraal is supportive - I can't stand the wicked scheming saas and doormat son at all!

Why did ASR not blast Khushi when she asked him how he could belittle the all important symbols of marriage and treat them as just decorative pieces? Why did he not sarcastically tell her that it isn't good to hear a lecture on the sanctity of marriage from a home breaker? Why did he bring in the gold digger argument instead? I felt it could be one or all of the following reasons.
ReplyDelete1.The thought of Khushi betraying him is so unbearable that he does not want to even voice it out lest the pain doubles as he spells out the burden in his heart. A girl who looks so innocent and naive that it seems impossible to believe that she really did it but then his eyes and ears could not lie to him. He may have acted on the basis of what his sensory organs told him but his vital organs (heart and brain) are not in synch with it. He seems to be waging his own battle within and is not ready to unburden himself just yet. So as a means to escape the interrogation he takes recourse to his pet excuse - the difference in their economic status. He very well knows she is no gold digger. Hence by using this excuse he has postponed facing the more harsh reality which is still indigestible to him.
2.Arnav has never shared his deepest fears and grief with anyone expect his didi and Khushi and that too on very rare occasions when his vulnerability takes over. In past occasions when he did share his insecurities and longing, it has always been about his mother. He knew both his sister and Khushi could empathize with him in this matter because the first went through the same experience and the other a similar experience. Here the matter involves both his loved ones - one is the wronged one and the other who wronged her. He cannot risk confiding in his sister because she cannot bear it and he cannot hold the mirror to Khushi because he cannot bear it.
3. From a screenplay point of view, it makes sense to postpone Khushi's knowledge of the real reason for the marriage till the misunderstanding is on the verge of being cleared. This way it would be a rude awakening for her. The fact that Arnav suspected that she would have an affair and that too with a married man would be unforgivable for her and she may leave him. When on an earlier occasion when she said that his character is 'deela', she just blurted out her disapproval of his way of life and did not mean to cast aspersions on his character but Arnav was furious hearing it. To realise that this very man not only believed her to have been unprincipled and hypocrite but also made her pay a heavy price for it is bound to harden her and prompt her to leave. For now the CVs may want both of them under one roof till Arnav's great fall and the prolonged guilt trip that would follow.
By the way did Arnav just swtich from Aap to Tum to address his jijaji? If the creep ever lays his hand on his wife, he will reduce it to 'tu', I guess.

DeleteVery nicely expressed. I think he did not yell at her due to a combination of your points 1 and 2. And somewhere he definitely realizes that Khushi understands the sanctity of marriage - he gave her the symbols (he knew it was important for her and he took her to a temple. The ASR of yore would have just done it on the terrace)& he heard her ask a married man to leave his wife (his anger is she asked Shyam to break his sisters marriage and his perception that she led him on).
Your point 2 makes me think how alone Arnav really is. Already an introvert, he cannot tell his Di (and as per precap she is still on about how hurt she is, can't she see his pain ?) (the anjali of the guest house incident was more aware. she knew her bro was distressed when he did not even show as much pain as today on his face). And yes he dare not shoe Khushi the mirror. We saw what it did to him last week when the lion hearted man just crumbled.

ReplyDelete1. One man's lust has caused mayhem in so many lives. And this man is the least affected. His sorrow is only for his toy being snatched away.
2. Arnav's treatment of Shyam and Khushi is markedly different. With one it is hatred (he told Shyam if not for Di being pregnant, you would hav been thrown out) but with the other even though he had a chance to throw her he has not done so. His reactions to Khushi throughout today were just hurt at her sadness and pain. Even when she physically shook him he did not retaliate. He has already stood for her publicly to his jija by stating she is his wife and telling him not to bother himself on why she became his wife. What matters is SHE IS his wife.
3. Maybe my first assessment of Payal was harsh. She felt heartbroken like Anjali at being shut out. Siblings who divuled have totally maintained silence and it is killing the elders.
4. If Shyam was crazy before, he will get crazier now - with Khushi in the same house and his male ego challenged he is going to be dangerous.
5. Arnav to save Anjali married Khushi. SHyam for all his tall claims knows he cannot have Khushi. SO he will work on hurting the achilles heel Arnav has - the brother sister relationship. Anjali is a emotionally dependent person who always believed that come hell or rainwater her chote will be there. Now he has gone and gotten married in this weird manner ans she is already hurt. The precap shows Arnav telling Anjali that they and esp she needs to just accept Khushi as his wife else he will leave the house. Shyam is going to diivde and rule this brother ans sister. He will tell Anjali that chote loves his Khushiji more than his family.
He will try to alienate Khushi from Anjali. And if in this mood the Shyam truth comes out, Anjali will definitely make Arnav choose between her and Khushi.(Mami Miciry - Arnav promised her on bhai dooj that for his di's khushi he will sacrifice his khushi)
6. The last time Arnav threatedned to leave the house, Anjali stepped in and told him to wait for his jijai to come. She knew he would listen to Shyam. Shyam had then given gyaan to Arnav on understanding people's viewpoints and how words once said and actions once done can never be taken back as life has no rewind button. (this was the moment Arnav realized how much he had wronged Khushi wrt GH incident and then had wanted to talk to her and apologize. This is when the store room scene had happened and she told him she is leaving his life forever. Soon after Anjali had bullied Khushi to re-enter Arnav's life quoting La as the cause. It was then that Arnav threw Khushi out and Anjali had made him bring her back). This time round with the changed dynamics, who will stop Arnav from leaving home? If anyone can it's only Khushi. Will she use this oppotunity to side with Anjali thereby raising that margin of doubt in Arnav's heart and mind? Will Arnav misconstrue it as her wish to stay back for Shyam? Last time too nani was the one who said if all are scared of showing Arnav the mirror, then she will take up the mantle of questioning his actions. Will she do it again this time? Last time his father came up l would it happen again?
7. If teh camcorder is themessenger of truth, then Anjali will be the receiver coz nani said that it is anjali who likes to see video of these events.

Loved Sanaya and Barun there, missed Sanaya's voice so much, the person dubbing for her did a fair job, praying she gets her voice back soon.

No even I found Payal and Aakash's SR funny...felt a little bad for Aakash...wedding night pe his wife is sitting on the bed crying and he's looking all lost -ROFL...kind of a mood kill...hahaha...

ANSWER:
Have always felt one of his biggest fear is being rejected and abandoned. I think that was one of the big stumbling blocks for his feelings for Khushi.
What if she does not reciprocat back? What if she leaves me too.
Post Teri Meri, he realized she does reciprocate and will not leave him. So that established he goes to propose to her and finds her with Shyam.
Now if he goes and asks her I saw you with Shyam, Are you having an affair with him, Do you Love Shyam, I thought you loved me?
And if SHE SAYS YES, I DON'T LOVE YOU BUT SHYAM.
Then the blow to him would be 100 times more.
He can handle her hate, her indifference but HE CAN NEVER HANDLE THE FACT THAT SHE IS IN LOVE WITH SOMEONE ELSE AND NOT HIM.
Which brings me back to the point Dia so beautifully made, this marriage is more about Arhi.
I can't have you, No one can.
You don't love me, You cannot have the one you love.
So he will keep quiet I think and Khushi will find out from Shyam somehow that why is Arnav behaving the way he is.
And then she will be FURIOUS with him.
How could he even doubt her like that.
How could he even doubt her love for him.
How could he even doubt her loyalty towards Anjali and his family.
Then I think the Silent Treatment will begin. Bitwa has loads of miles to cover. No wonder he has already started warming up with all the pacing up and down,lol.
totally agree with you......even me think his decision is more about him loosing Khushi rather then Anjali's broken marriage......even the fb when he breaks down after the car drive......it connected anji first brone marriage and him loosing his mom.......to her second broken marriage and him loosing khushi.......so he may not realize it yet, but khushi is more important to him then even anji......and the day he realizes it, she won't be around.......cause she will be so hurt that he doubted her character when he knows how much she values a marriage relation ship, that she would not want to be around him anymore.....

ReplyDeleteOn your first point, yes. Very true. Shyam has unleashed a catastrophe that has wreaked havoc in the lives of two families and his concern is only for himself. I hope they keep him irredeemable. It would be too hard to digest a sudden turnaround in his character. Hope the PH has learnt their mistake from their previous show.
I agree with your second point too. Arnav hates one (Shyam) and hates that he loves the other (Khushi). Although he astutely avoided looking at her, the minute she told him that she has been orphaned once again, he immediately turned to look at her tear stained face and one could feel the palpable pain on it. As you pointed out he did not use brutal force (as he had done in the past) to hold her back when she physically shook him. The man not only stood up for her against his bro but also tells the sister he loves the most that he is willing to leave the house with her. A sea change in his attitude indeed. Just a few months back he yelled at Khushi to get out of the house and told his sister since it is his house he decides who stays and who leaves, much to her shock. The tables are turned now. He is willing to leave the house with his wife if his family cannot accept her.
I agree on your view on Payal too. The poor girl just got the shock of her life. A sister who was so close to her refuses to open up even to her. If I were Khushi's sister I would be disappointed too. I understand Khushi too. If she were to tell her 'I did it for you so that your wedding is not stalled', Payal would start her married life with a huge burden of guilt. Khushi has always openly declared her hatred for Arnav and being as dumb as she is, Payal cannot discern that her supposed hatred is a cloak for her love. So if she knows the extent of sacrifice she made for her, she would never live in peace.
Yes, Shyam is going to turn even more dangerous and crazy now that he has been countered by Arnav. I am afraid for Khushi right now because the poor girl does not even know the reason why she is being punished. He can keep creating situations which will strengthen Arnav's doubts in her character and she will have no one she can confide her problems to.
Now you point 6 made me think. It is quite possible that Shyam will try to break Arnav by driving a wedge between the siblings. Now that would be really sad. I would prefer that he attacks Khushi and Arnav steps in to rescue her but I think your plot is more plausible and typical of the cunning and manipulative Shyam. It would indeed be sad if Arnav leaves Khushi because his sister asked him to. If they go down this path, we will never get to see a happy Arshi for a long long time.
Your point number 6 is also very intriguing. Yes, times have really changed and so have the dynamics between the characters. Maybe Arnav too will end up paying for his silence on the Shyam matter. I hope Nani behaves like the head of the family and help the two siblings see the larger picture but the poor woman herself is in the dark. I feel Shashiji is going to recover and will play a crucial role in resolving this imbroglio.
I don't know if the camcorder caught some damning evidence to prove Khushi's innocence or 'guilt'. Lets see whether it does have a role to play either in driving the siblings apart or bringing them back together.

DeleteGiven that this is now a game b/w Arnav and Shyam (till Khushi realized some truths), Shyam will now try to one-up Arnav by getting into Khushi's good books. He will want to be her "samaritan" while painting Arnav as the devil. He know what she said to him on the terrace but his ego will now want to obtain her just to break Arnav. To him it is no longer about Khushi - it is about Arnav.
And Khushi will fight him. I hope they do not show a Khushi who believes Shyam is reforming for Anj and her baby. I would rather they show her saying good for you you are changing but you and I can never be friends cos you broke my trust, you lied to me, you hurt my family (both G and R too now)
For all his faults, Arnav has till date never lied to Khushi. He has been rude, silent, insulting but has never shirled the truth and that to me is telling. When Khushi went to fight with him about La, she told him you have..and he completed it saying no heart. Yes I accept. But at least I speak the truth (by telling La he did not want to marry her and she meant nothing to him and let her leave the house). He told Khushi at least I call it as it is and don't try to hide behind excuses / reasons.
If things go this way and Shyam realizes he has no sway over Khushi, the only other person he can manipulate is Anjali. Nani is too strong and wise for him. And Arnav loves only these 3 to bits.
And this allows scope for ArHi to join hands and team up once again (like during the Payash cupid track where Khushi says, whatever may have happened b/w us so far but in this we are together). For them to say we will do the needful and protect Anj - one loves her and the other respects her. And hopefully broken bridges and hearts will begin to build....
Ok I am a bit confused by our heroine’s reactions – believe you me I am happy to see the fiery tigress back BUT:

- ASR has become Arnavji, kind, caring, flirty… and she loves him back - is waiting for him to speak!
- But he says the wrong things - She thinks he likes her but his disbelief in marriage and commitment has made him propose a disguised live in using the old ASR tactics of cornering her with the one thing that mattered to her so much – her sister’s wedding
- So – should not her first question have been – ‘why’ this anger? You did what you wanted so why this anger as if you are forced to do this (she does not know that he is being forced!)and she has been asking him (with or without dialogues - why the anger at different points in their relationship)
- So only when he does not actually sleep with her (how can he, he is the hero!!) should she have asked – ‘if you don’t want me – then why all this???”
Also Arnav – when she was getting all angry and talking about the ‘value’ of the ‘sindoor’ etc, he had ‘oh you hypocrite – you talk of value for these thing when you are ruining my sisters married life!!” etched on his face (well done by the actor!)– so why did he give the ‘gold digger’ dialogue and not what he thought was the real reason. The only thing is he at least said he felt she was just ‘acting out her anger’ – so I guess some explanation there.
the CV should be true to the story and the characters and not think of how to keep the story going on for ever.
Ps. Loved the confrontation between Arnav and Ji-jaji! and that the poor boy finally dot a chance to shave! :D
Mona, to understand Khushi's behaviour, one only has to look back at the Diwali incident. Then too he had displayed his obvious attraction to her and yet after taking her to the peak of passion he broke free and cruelly crushed her feelings and his. He fought with his Nani to bring La home and proposed to her but in the nick of time backed out without any explanation. So his behaviour now is conforming to the same pattern of contradictions which has continued to baffle her. At this point she is not sure he really loves her for if he did, he wouldn't be doing all that he is. He comes across as sadist who seems to gives hopes be it to her, or to La, only to crush them. Since she still does not know the trigger of his anger, I felt her questioning was apt, especially the way she approached the subject by first making him realise that he was indirectly responsible for making her an orphan yet again. If there is one thing that can move him that is their shred grief at losing their parents.

I also feel that at some point, Khushi needs to ask her question in a different way - if there was some compulsion to force you into this marriage, why didn't you just ask me? Why did you go to the bother of blackmailing me through Payal? Did you think I would refuse you if there was a valid reason?

Meaning - All the moments of joy and struggle would be shared equally by the bride, and where ever and whatever be the condition of the husband the bride would be always there by his side and be just like one of his.
Nani wants them to be married as per the parampara and they show the grihapravesh scene - So Shwetha I think you will get the CARRY wish :)
In the latter half, in my take Arnav looks at Khushi like Christmas came early this year:) Its like a dream to him to see her all decked up sitting there as HIS BRIDE (and the new rabba ve plays in the bg). Khushi looks up at him expectantly - at least now will he tell her why? VO says "nafrat se hua tha jo rishtha shuroo, kya mil paayegi use mohabbat ki manzil?"
As to Khushi asking him why? she will .If nothing else she is resilient. She needs to start reading his eyes now. Remember that post of yours Dia

Like I read in a post here, hope Khushi tells him that though he may not accord her the status of a wife, she understands the significance of marriage. In her eyes, she is his wife and he her husband be it for 6 months alone. And in that time, it is her right to know and share his life - all of it. (slightly cheesy i know) This would also establish to Arnav again how important relationships and a marriage are in Khushi's eyes.

Spolier pics in FB show Khushi Shyam and Arnav Shyam scenes. What Khushi says here and how she conducts herself will be crucial - lets see kya hota hai. There is also a pic of teary-eyed Arnav looking at something or someone - does he hear the right things to set off alarm bells?
Shashi babua miraculous recovery will be a bit too filmy. Shyam will try to get into Khushi's good books by appearing to sympathize with her condition and trying to show her how he will support her even though no one else does. I wish she says that as long as Arnavji is by her side, she will need no one else's support and bitwa better hear this.

I want ASR to listen , the whole confrontation and start thinking if he was wrong in his interpretation or has he been judgemental of the terrace scene. All though the conversation might send wrong idea, the aversion and body language of Khushi suggesting something other. I want him to analyse this. I want him to use his dormant brain which has gone on a holiday.
But agrhhhh!!! its tooo much of expectation......
and for Khushi I want her to kick his butt again, although its going to be tooo soon for that. May be she can kick Snakewa’s and give ASR some fodder to use his brains.
Coming to the other Spoiler update, of shashi recovering, I doubt that, may be he finds his voice for sometime before his end and confronts with ASR about snakewa.

And yes, I am in my 40s too with 1 teenager and a 10 year old kid. IPKKND has touched me like no other Indian soap has before. Crazy about it, even think about Arhi while driving :-) How crazy is that? My boys think I'm crazy . Believe it or not, we had gone to a temple yesterday on the occasion of Shivratri and my 10yr old asked me 'Mamma , who is Devi Maiyya?' I found that so cute and endearing.

Khushi says forget about him, he does not believe in all those things. I will come down.
Payal Leaves, Arnav wakes up, Khushi informs him that she is going down and glares and leaves with a slightly disappointed look, Arti starts and down comes Bitwa.
Nani and Anjali are shocked, look at khushi and all their gussa evaporates.

Thoughts on new promo
ReplyDeleteDM seems to be channelling herself thru Nani to deliver insaaf to her bhakht Khushi. Khushi who believes in the traditions, Khushi who always wanted to belong, always wanted a family. At her shotgun wedding, Khushi had looked at DM as if asking her too "Why?"
Also once bound by the saat pheras, emotionally Khushi will be bound to Arnav forever (considering this is not a dream sequence). From the story POV, it also allows for Khushi to have the right to come back to him after any separation. A social wedding accords her the status of Arnav's wife in society (Arnav didn't want to give her that). Silences any Qs raised for reasons behind her eloped wedding. Now she only needs to fight with him, for him to accept her his wife with his heart and soul.
Bitwa thinks he writes his own destiny - but DM says yeah rite dream on bitwa!
p.s hope the new entry if any is a elderly / emotionally mature character - someone who can help khushi's understanding of arnav and someone who can smell snake for the reptile he is and perhaps maybe also drum some sense into bitwa's head
HAA, you said it ... going through all the rasams is important for Khushi ... so Devi Maiyya makes sure she gets that. And all said and done, it makes their marriage real, complete, in the eyes of family and society, and totally binding ... Bitwa can't get out of this one in a hurry, not that he's going to be wanting to ... DM has the last laugh all right!
DeleteThis PH seems to have a penchant for side characters to act as third wheels - first La, then NK ... now it should be Anjali's turn, because if Shyam is going to be exposed, then Anjali needs a back-up plan to save her from cracking up completely. How about a psychiatrist/ counsellor ... who tells the family about Anjali's fragile state and actually makes them realize she is a nutcase - I use the word in a sympathetic way.
There is a new entry, who? Nahiiiiiiiiiiin..We already have enough, give Payash to do some good. Akshay and Deepali are underutilized, dunno why. If given a chance they will come good. We don't need a new one, IMHO.

HAA, I don't think he will agree. From the way they have shot it, he comes from work or something everyone ambush him at the entrance, saying wait you got married without telling us and gave us such a jhatka that we did not even get to welcome Khushi properly. He will protest, they won't agree, Anjali brings in khushi, bitwa is tongue tied, does the rasam and then is given another jhatka from Anjali and Nani you two have to get married with full rasams..And we know Anjali can blackmail him emotionally into anything. It can be as easy as what will I tell your niece/nephew ki mama ki shaadi ki photo/dvd kahan hai?
DeleteDia, I am a huge a fan of this serial and your blog; almost in equal measures. For me, an episode is not complete without your analysis. Though, never got around to responding on blogs as its all a new thing for me. In the past, i have never watched serials with any interest; mostly surfing and moving on without any attachment to/interest in any fictional part. IPKKND is the first serial that i have watched for such a long time; its very different, maybe becos of its lead players, especially Sanaya, who is a wonderful artist, (i first saw her in Radha ki betiyaan essaying a kind of grey role) IPKKND also has some well etched characterisation for many of its players. Please accept my compliments on your blog. Its well written and gives one insight into the unexpressed emotions of the players. The CVs should look at some of the points expressed in this blog as well the reply comments by others fellow “bloggers” to make their sketching sharper …btw, I have joined the chatroll as sanfan ( I am a huge sanaya fan)...All the best!! Was watching some of the older episodes. realized teh sequence then was GH - she breaks contract - pre-teej mandir encounter - teej fast break
Here so far it has been the contract wedding. next will it be the pre-teej and teej equivalent - the mandir scene. I see a recall of the contract break when she separates from him - abhi toh kuch dhamak hi nahi hoga scene main compared to the old scene (ironically mami in that scene says "since when did this cat become a lioness") - and I thought of the title of this post.

Hi Shwetha! I really want Arnav to carry a sleeping khushi to the bed and fall asleep next to her *drool*. That would just be amazing, I mean, my heart has been breaking ever since the Monday episode, I think we viewers at least deserve a moment which says clearly that Arnav will always love Khushi despite what he thinks of Khushi.
ReplyDeleteI love the fact that he did flinch at the thought that Khushi got slapped because of him but like you said, he isn't doing a damn thing about it! I am not sure about how I feel about the whole thing since I can understand why Arnav is so angry but it breaks my heart to see both of them so heartbroken.
Oh, and like so many others, I want Arnav to really move heaven and earth when he finds out Khushi is innocent - that would be an amazing track :)

SGP is a good diversion,even i watch it from time to time.. what i like best is the complete lack of OTT drama yet it can keep u entertained...else it not possible to sustain serials without drama..
ReplyDeletewill remain indebted to SGP for the sole reason that it got me hooked on to IPK..(the time slot was the main cause)...now i can't imagine life without the ARHI drama.....first i thot i was going crazy with my ARHI addiction now i feel better that i am not alone...(misery, after all loves company)..
On checklist for Arhi....many items are getting ticked...more will get added to the list for sure..we are a hard to please audience!!

Yep, SGP is fun to watch, good entertainment ... reminds me of an old DD show Dekh Bhai Dekh (was that DD - I forget) ... It's pure entertainment with that madcap family and the retarded Suhana and even more retarded Ishan - made for each other jodi!
