Good thing too ... because from Arnav bitwa's flashbacks and his outburst, his dimaag ka holiday just got extended to include a trip to the North Pole. Good, maybe his anger might get the ice cold shower it needs. Arnav bitwa, there is absolutely no use fuming and fretting silently when your Mami insults your biwi in the choicest saas-bahu dialogues ... you may look pretty with that clenched jaw, but you need to do a darn sight more to impress your wife ... oh and the girls here. ;)

Arnav watches and can't help feeling upset for Khushi ... his upset changes to anger as Mami arrives with more taunts for Khushi ... don't eat with us, we won't eat the food you cook, her burn ...
And he goes off in anger ... how can he stand to see her being insulted, knowing he is the one who's laid her open to the insults and taunts, and he can't do anything about it except grit his teeth, because he's supposed to hate her ... only remembering that he hates her is becoming more and more difficult.
Night ... (so soon?) ... Arnav pacing up and down, starting that long walk ... agony, anguish, hate, love, a maelstorm of emotions bursting inside ... Mami's tants, Khushi's tears, his moments with Khushi, the first rain hug, the Diwali lights, but always those damning voices come back ... "I don't care for Anjali, I love you, Khushiji" ... "then why don't you leave Anjaliji, break your marriage ..."

There’s this story my Nani told me when I was little and it just applies so perfectly to Dia’s blog...The story my nani told me was a cautionary tale one might tell little children so that they don’t lie, so that they think before they speak and basically think good thoughts...well the crux of her story was that in the whole day Saraswati Ma comes and sits at the tip of your tongue for one second and in that one second whatever you say comes true so beware...

ReplyDeleteI'm glad that she's back and HOW! Only she has the knack of getting into little scrapes - and will have Patidev falling in love all over again with her.
If Arnav had hard time controlling his guilt pangs and empathetic agony pangs today seeing Khushi suffering at the hands of her amma and his mami,he is going to have an even more tougher time controlling his desire seeing Khushi in his white shirt. If nothing else, he should take hint from the colour of the shirt. Yes, his Khushi is as pure as that snow white shirt. As usual he will resort to his famed fury to cover up his true feelings and demand that she remove his shirt immediately and hand it over to him. Khushi is bound to be scandalised by the thought of stripping in front of her Raakshas. She may try to back off even as he keeps marching towards her and holds up the collar of the shirt, his eyes unable to hide the cloud of desire residing within them. Just as he is about to rip free the shirt, they may be disturbed by Anjali's call. Khushi may just manage to escape into the bathroom with her choli, her heartbeats racing both from fear and the unexplained feeling which she has for her man, no matter how much of a monster he turns into.

DeleteI have still not given up hoping for the burn mark. Arnav is yet to give her the bangles. She is wearing his shirt. There is another encounter coming and I am still hoping the burn will get its due attention.
Mami did mention but ofc she was not going to do anything about it. Arnav heard but he cannot show he cares. Don't think Payal and Anjali even noticed.

Yes someone is watching (tho dil says aisa na ho). But too much to expect at this juncture. Or he actually walks in and tells Khushi that look, I know we hate each other but we need to act for our families. remember Lord ASR told you so. Di is outside and getting doubtful, so lets start.
But for a moment (could be just my imagination) in a pic or 2 I thought Arnav forgot the place and all he saw was his Khushi whom he was giving his Ma's kangan.
You said it earlier in reply to a comment that he will pretend to love her and then crush her. I know this will happen but I want to see how the CVs walk that line. I mean I am ok with pretense with an audience. But in privacy if he pretends, I shall be very disappointed in bitwa. I have been pungi bajaaoing his tendency for truth and facts all along so he better not think of deceit to Khushi. (I know then what is this wedding all about, right?) (I am still grappling that paradox)
The episode was awesome! And more Monday evening it was unsettlingly awesome!
ReplyDeleteFirst can I just say, and I’ve mentioned this before, Manorama Mami is the woman you want on your side. She has some thirchi nazar-she’s sooo sharp, she always catches on fastest...I still recall her ‘1 par 1 free’ dialogue after the ‘teri meri’ sequence. And also what I realized today, neither Anjali nor Arnav ever say anything to her because her heart is in the right place for the people she cares about. She’s quite the gold digging conniving character but she genuinely loves Anjali and Arnav...’Anjali beta ju-eeeesss pi lo!’
Also apart from the fact that they still suffix ‘ji’ on each others’ names I loved the Payash scene! Felt like they were married when Payal hugged him and told him so easily what she felt-maybe Arhi could learn something from them after all...AND! Finally Aakash redeemed himself in my eyes today by saying the most obvious glaring thing...YOU ALL KNOW HER! SHE WOULDN’T HAVE DONE THIS WITHOUT A VERY GOOD REASON!!...waah Aakash give your big brother some insight into Khushi’s nature which you seem to have gauged better than anyone else in both the families, inspite of spending precisely one car ride and having one conversation on an office bench with her; that is less than anyone else in the entire show except of course mamaji.
Seriously stop the ‘giving Khushi one garment daily’ routine. It’s ridiculous. I don’t expect ASR to buy her clothes but I do expect him to throw his credit card on the table while going to work and tell her go buy yourself some clothes you’re a Raizada for another 5 months and 5 days.
I like the fact that Anjali is still more angry at Arnav than at Khushi, it seems appropriate after all he’s her brother his actions should hurt her more and his not telling her should bother her more. I also like that she hasn’t totally forgiven Khushi...shows that though her bond with Arnav is totally different yet she still considered Khushi her own too and has not forgiven her silence though she’s accepted her. Likewise with Nani-who very categorically established herself as the head of the family once again.
The Devi Maiyya conversation was so perfect-made even more beautiful by the fact that no one overheard it. Some things are personal, some moments you just share with God and I really liked that it was shown as just that and not a set up for Shyaam to overhear or find out. The conversation itself was so Khushi. Also noticed she reserves that tone for only Devi Maiiya and Arnav. She spoke with so much haq, she could never speak like that to her family, her sister, mother or buaji - after all they are the only two people she can expect anything from. And today both have let her down.
I loved the indignance, the cross questioning – How could you do this to me? My very core nature I learnt from you- keep smiling and try to be happy... I held such steadfast faith that no matter what happens my Devi Maiiya will never forsake me. You were my person and you let me down. FINE. –just the way you would argue with your best friend-if you’re not going to be there for me I’ll find someone else (Our new entry??) but I’m not going to sit around and mope....Khushi Kumari Gupta ladies and gentlemen(oops no guys huh?)

DeleteAgree with you about Mami and the Payal Akash scenes. Loved the way Akash stood up for Khushi. Hoped he would and he did.
As for new clothes, please yaar Shwetha aur mera shiddat hai that Khushi will walk in and see loads of packages with clothes that Arnav got her. Lets not go the way of credit card and go pick up stuff.
I like how you are tracking the days in ArHi land.
The reactions of the characters are as would be in such circumstances. Anjali and Nani are coming around to the Raizada bahu but are hesitant about Khushi. Anajli is still angry with her brother. Nani and Arnav are yet to have a decent conversation post the wedding. Wonder how that will go. Loved the way Nani stated that Khushi is now a raizada bahu and she will enjoy all the rights associated with that including muh dikhaayi.
The DM conversation was well done. Keeping the option open that someone may have heard it.
And yes even I noticed how at the end Khushi said she will not mope. She will stay happy and strong. That's the core of her being.

Did you notice when she said, I'm not going to accept defeat, there was the sound of conch shells blowing ... DM approves.
HAA, add my name to that shiddat for Khushi's wardrobe ... this is getting silly now!
If Mami gets on to Khushi's side, then half Khushi's problems are solved, but I'm still worried she will tell Shyam, and he will tell Arnav in a way that infuriates him further ... it could go either way. But it was made very clear again that Mami is genuinely fond of Anjali - once she knows Khushi kept quiet for Anjali's sake, then Khushi has a firm ally.
HAA, Shwetha, Dia...add Me too..she needs some new clothes...mami called her bua's house refugee camp but its in RM that she's 'camping' out doors every night and doesn't have anything but one shaadi ka joda to her name...I hope it happens the way you guys say even if its Arnav 'acting' as a smitten husband and just to show up mami and the others. Or each auntyji gives her one one sari at munh dikhai...LOL..oh but they dunno she exists yet
DeleteI would so love Mami on Khushi's side...but that's not happening yet-but fingers crossed for later...Mami is a sly woman she's going to dig a little before she opens her mouth...Somehow I never got the feeling that she was quite as attached to Daamadji as Nani and the other family members...she's sharp. She'll definitely play a role though dunno if it'll help or hamper Arhi figuring things out.
Gargs Fab analysis. With you it is time she needs someone like Mami on her side. Mami will never warm up to Payal. But the day she realizes the lengths Khushi went for Arnav and Anjali, she will be her biggest supporter. And she can shut everyone up by pointing the obvious.

He’s also the VICTIM even if all flights are grounded and his dimaag can’t catch a plane back from France (though Akash seems to have chartered a plane out for him and his wife - let’s see when they land) and he’s making a mess of everything.

Her own mother hung up on Khushi how dare she! Her sister isn’t talking to her! The audacity of his mamiji to taunt his wife! Even his own sister and nani haven’t accepted her! Wait WHAT SHE’S HURT?! And then all those flashbacks...he really fell 'head over Hilfiger clad heels' for her...and he thought she felt the same way...’TO UNHE CHOD DO!’ ...all a farce...she really broke him...and then she break the jug-She’s everywhere!! (Side Note : SN1 : Barun was excellent today in every scene especially the poolside scene...better than Sanaya today, in my opinion....SN2: CV’s are quite smart...now that Arnav’s basically given Khushi a reason for what he did she can stop asking him and they don’t have to reveal the misunderstanding yet, whilst still maintaining both the characters- quite deviously done. Good job CV’s. SN3: Even now inspite of everything the two people she feels she has haq on DM and ASR...she tells both of them that today and tomorrow full haq se will take pati’s shirt rip it-feel bad-darn it and then freak out )

DeleteThat was a very well thought of and enacted scene. Barun was very good. His angst is going to drive him crazy. I am keen to see how long he is going to be able to hold it all in. Soon the mask will have to slip, he will explode from the opposing forces of love and hate tearing at him now.
When he said he hated her, yes he looks down thinking (that is not what I wanted to say to Khushi). Your point on CVs temporarily plugging the questions of Why from Khushi was very subtly done.
At his hate, her heart broke and she retorted like she always does with him. If you do, so can I. Just that this time, she said no one would love him as he does not deserve it. These words will come back to him when the truth is in front of his eyes. Nice touch that CV's let her vent without her saying she does not love him. They make it a matter of whether he deserves to be loved or not. The day Arnav wakes up he will be much harsher on himself than he is being on Khushi. It will have to be Khushi who will have to temper his need to hurt himself for all the hurt he caused her. Will she be able to understand that his need to hurt her was to return to her the hurt he thought she had inflicted on him?
If he had heard her today, he would have known. She said all relationships important to her have been severed. She mentioned his sister's anger at her. If she is unable to handle that anger, would she risk that woman;s wrath by going for her husband? She never mentions Arnav, Babuji or Shyam amongst relationship of importance cos
Arnav - she does not know his stance
Babuji - she is assured of his love and understanding even today
Shyam - she loathes him and does not consider him worthy of mention
Arnav is going to be in this turmoil till he makes peace with himself and her one way or another. Given the marriage he cannot run away from her. Her thoughts plague him and her physical presence is no balm to his already frayed nerves.
Like Opti said, tomorrow the torture will be upped a few notches when his desire for her will make itself felt. Badgered emotionally, mentally and physically Arnav is going to be driven to the brink of insanity.
Though Khushi tells him I will do just as I please despite what you think and do, she still sleeps outside as he wnats her to. She keeps quiet amongst family, bears mami;s taunts next morning and not give him away. She will do all that she promised (cry, shout, etc. only in the privacy of those 4 walls).
Today's conversation to me was significant because it was teh first one after the wedding where both were on the same footing. On the night of the wedding, too much had happened and then again on the SR, he just erupted and she was agian confused as to Why?
Funny, Arnav today told her to get out of his sight when it was him who bound her to him.
Khushi needs to start working out that his eruptions and his actions are not adding up. He says he hates her but he still does things for her (yet to happen) and her pain still affects him even if she does not tell him(release hand as it was burnt)
When Khushi's DM conversation ended with mention of a new friend my first reaction was Oh! new entry. But then I said, what if she find that friend in Arnav. Over time. Wishful thinking, perhaps yes but how long can 2 individuals share a room without having some kind of a neutral ground especially while pretending to be something totally different in the eyes of the world.
Kangans have reached him. Anjali wants Khushi to have them He never refuses Anjali. Will he hand them to Khushi or how else will they reach her? How does Arnav support Khushi at the muh dikhaayi (refer last week's tagline)? Is it something he does when those taunts rain down on her?
You know another thing your reply reminded me of was that in his flashbacks he remembers his own lines...'We will act like a happily married couple'...maybe thats why he'll support her at the munh dikhai...because really they need to do a better job in front of the family or anyone would get suspicious. even HP(hari prakash not Harry;-)) can probably see that neither of them are happy.

a. they get that she's his wife and he's giving her his mother's last remnants

DeleteAnji told Arnav she wanted Khushi to wear them for the function. She needed to start wearing them immediately were her words. She also said that is what Ma would have wanted. And then Anji corners him with now what are you hiding from me? (you already hide the reason u got married, now there is more?)
Even I hope he gives it to her in front of all at the ceremony. After all no one got her any gifts.
Yeah I hope thats how he supports her...One of the things that bothered me about this track is the fact that Khushi will never get to redo these rituals.
DeleteNo matter how big or small the wedding EVERY girl has certain things she thinks about...'yeh aisa hoga...main yeh pehnoogi...woh waise hoga' And everything Khushi has ever thought of will not happen. Even after it all get sorted out, if she leaves, she comes back, past gets dredged up, finally they do another wedding...All those firsts will never come back..
They won't do grihapravesh again after she's lived there, they wont do munh dikhai again everyone's seen her as a Razada bahu, all of the Raizada rasams etc...felt awful for Khushi when she was getting ready for grihapravesh and thinking of how she wanted her wedding to be and how it turned out to be...so I hope atleast here at munh dikhai in front of everyone he stands by her as a small consolation even if its to save his nani's face...
(BTW in his grand 6 month scheme has he factored in how bad its going to look on the Raizad's if he and Khushi break up. Yes she'll be ruined-that's what he wants, his reputation will be in shreds-he doesn't care about that-ok, but even the Raizada's and especially nani's reputation is at stake...if people are talking so much about an elopement what will they say to a broken marriage?...)
It was a very nice episode. My thoughts today are a mix of humour and some thoughts to dwell on. Lot of bak bak so posting in 2 parts :)

- You can do the same for Payal and earn some mileage on RTR
- Ask her to bring you tea, do randonm things, oh sew buttons on your shirts which you are wearing (but once in room tell her HP will do it all. Don't want the Naari Mukti morcha on my case)

MY AWW MOMENTS:
1. However angry you are with people, on the spur of the moment you usually give in and behave normal with them (Payal reaching out, garima almost saying hello to Khushi, Anji and Arnav talking normally). Relationships don't get erased in a minute)
2. Khushi looks around the room a bit concerned as to where Arnav is as soon as she enters
3. When he grabs her hands, realizing she has a burn, Arnav lets go of her hand
4. Arnav finally completed a sentence after kyunki..(yes yes he said the wrong thing but this is progress. baby steps)
5. I had hoped, like after La engagement, Khushi asks him what he gained of this wedding and she did. What did you gain by doing all this to me?
6. When Khushi is insulted / ignored, Arnav feels for her. ASR / Arnav of old would not have been bothered. He only felt bad for his Di and Nani (the neighbours having a go at both of them during Diwali party). Arnav, THINK, now you also feel for her.
7. Arnav inadvertently blurted out the truth to her and himself about wanting to hurt her by marrying her. About wanting to see her suffer. (Yes Arnav thats what you wanted but have you ever been happy with Khushi doing exactly what you want or reacting just as you wanted her to)
8. Khushi's DM conversation - esp her telling DM that I learnt from you to smile and face difficulties in life (ok it will be soo good if Arnav hears convo but IDIOT will think she is acting again)

Yeah ok he gave her a reason, please tell me she's not gonna accept that? You can hate someone sure, detest them, avoid every meeting dread seeing their face, what you don't do is take that person and marry them so that for 6 months you can see them everywhere even in your own room, it's ridiculous to expect anyone to accept that! On another note, I love how they both admitted that they loved each other today, Arnav in his usual I love you so I'm gonna shout at you to push you away and khushi who basically told him he broke her heart, except, he thinks she hates him really and loves kj, (btw, where's the logic in calling her a goldigger whilst firmly believing that over asr she is in love with a penniless lawyer?) today we saw khushi lose everybody including dm and now she really has nothing to lose, hoping she sets the ultimatum. Kinda disappointed the burn didn't get more attention, ah well ;)
ReplyDeleteGargi, u have beautifully expressed Arnav's state of mind in that poolside scene!! The angst at loving her when he should not!! At the moment, he can't decide whom he hates more, Khushi or himself!! Barun's expressions after telling Khushi that he hates her is truly priceless. Sanaya, was fab as usual!!Even a person who is seeing the serial for the first time can feel the undercurrents. It is this very layering in characters/scenes that i think makes this serial a treat to watch
ReplyDeleteIn the intro post, i read abut members who seem to have started watching this serial much after the beginning and been drawn by scenes/acting/character sketching that has forced them to continue to the point that they ve joined in ARHI's journey. That again is a reinforcement of the uniqueness of this story.
Had low expectations frm today's episode. (Shiddat notwithstanding!!) simply becos of the track that we are currently in. So for the CVs to deliver such a fab episode (nothing OTT about it!!) is really wonderful!!
On a lighter vein, CVs make us happy by putting that shirt to some gud use. Its already torn. Now, its uses are predictable, lets see if bitwa can let his heart rule over his vacationing mind!!
Rekha, Yes thankfully the drama is never OTT in this show when you compare it with other shows. Bitwa will find it tough seeing her in that shirt at first, You know Khushi is going to have a tougher time figuring him too.

Just one thing, Khushi as of now does not know that Arnav is not happy to see her suffer. She just knows that he is not happy. Period.
Ang again I realize what got me hooked to IPK - the ability to potray scenes as they would happen in life. The display of how some things take time (Not here today gone tomorrow). How when 2 individuals speak, it is not just what is said but what is unsaid that sometimes makes a bigger impact.
Pretty sure Khushi slept out again Shweths...hopefully mami will bite the bullet and be unable to resist making a comment about this in front of Arnav. Arnav should use HAA's night under the stars excuse and decide its too risky for her to sleep outside because they'll get caught, so after telling her off for leaving the blanket out he'll tell her to sleep in the room.-NOT ON THE FLOOR-EWWW not the 1920's people-RECLINER AT THE VERY LEAST.

ReplyDelete1: Hate and love 2 sides of a coin. Arnav has always been able to live with Khushi's demanding ways but never with her indifference. And today her words have marked him. Today he has realized that indifference is all he may get from her after all that has happened. And it hurts to be at the receiving end of indifference (recall diwali when he said she meant nothing to him.
This also sets the context for him having to win her back. He will now need to make her see that he can be loved, that he deserves to be loved. It will be a challenge, Lagi shart?
When he removes his vest, its like he is trying to divest himself of the shackles of guilt this decision is casting on him. Creepers of pain that keeping sneaking up his arms (Devil's Snare). Only the light of truth can release him.
Sharing a space with her is getting difficult. She keeps reminding him of everything he does not want to think of - his concern, his hate, his helplessness. He is suffocating
2: When Khushi walks out and the jug falls it makes a noise. It seemed like sounding an alarm - to wake him up from a distorted reality where he is morphing into someone else / someone unlovable (last time his mum left, he had to handle it all, he reined it all, his sister let him and he did go into a long slumber. But this time, unknowingly khushi is in front of him and thrashing around asking him to face reality not allowing him to hide himself away.) Turmoil = change?
3: Today, Khushi showed him a mirror - u r not worthy of love. Look what one act of yours has done. She spoke of herself and his family. So many hearts shattered so you can have your way? (Is this what your father did Arnav, shatter the family and its members by one act? You've been running away from his shadow, trying to be not like him, but how like him have you become?)
Today would your mother have recognized you? Would she have been happy with you today? Is that why you could not bear to see those kangan? Not just for the memories they held but for the questions they ask you?
For the sake of the enemy, you have called her your wife. But you have not yet used that phrase with anyone else (Anjali, Nani,Akash, Mamiji, etc.)(You always used her name). So you still do not consider her your wife right? So you feel how can she have those bangles because they were always intended for your wife?
It will be interesting to see why when and how this happens.
4. Khushi's defamation / alienation as you wanted it Arnav is happening and will continue

Tomorrow the neighbours will make fun at her
You have stripped her of the protection a family and loved ones give. You are not standing at her side either. She is vulnerable as never before.
How are you going to see her be hurt at the hands of strangers when you cannot see her hurt by people she loved.
And therein lies one of the dialogues of today - Aap toh bahut khush hinge na?
5. Yes Arnav, you must be very happy today right?
- You wanted to make her pay for what she did to your sister. She is.
- You wanted to make a mockery of her belief in people. You have.
But what will you do when you see her fighting back. Trying to gain it all back instead of running away from it. And without giving you away. Never getting fazed by the hurt thrown at her while digging for the love within. What will you learn?
She once asked you "as your bank balance is very high, you must be very happy but why are you so unhappy with yourself and the world around you?
Since the wedding, she has been asking you Why? Why? Why? And today you have started asking yourself Why? Why? Why?. You have started to understand that the hate you professed was never the reason. You realized it in that fraction of a second when you told her but realized how hollow and false your words sounded to your own ears.
Sandy: Hugs for the above. You know one of these days she will simply give up, he has already said he hates her, is going to pretend to be loving and again crush her.. That day she will simply stop questioning him.

What can i say about yesterday's episode it was excellent. But for me another highlight is mamiji clued to all is not well in the la la land. and my gut is that she will confront khushi or Arnav with it. Since KKG is back, if she confronts it with her, khushi will be taking the charge of protating the happliy married couple by getting her self back into the room and taking care of our boy, paving a way for fustration and confusion and allowing him to start walking the RTR. Now that too much to expect.

4)i am kind of disappointed with the episode (virtual helmet on) - but i guess i had forgotten that this is an Indian soap and cant move too fast and had gotten swayed by all the shiddat on the blog (how could this not happen - it says so on the blog :D) I mean ASR saw the burn but did nothing. Also i feel it was disconnected - what happened after he stormed out - went back to sleep? where did she sleep? how did she leave the stuff outside - so not like her, specially when she had already gone downstairs for the day etc etc
5) I could not get it out of my head that ODB is the one who is in serious hell! - oh i completely agree Khushi has it rough but he is the victim too (at times even more than Khushi) - she thinks ASR is just like this - hard and cold - but HE poor thing knows that the one he loves is a cheat! (or so he thinks) Poor thing cant even torture her without torturing himself, he is burning inside - that got me thinking -
i guess the reason is that he has always been the one to take care of things - HE alone - not with anyone else - he has no friends so he cant even talk to anyone - cant ask advice! he is in it alone. the only one he ever talked to was his sister who he cant talk to now and don't think he is that pally with his brother (more the stern elder brother than the chaddi buddies) In fact when Akash had spoken about Payal (after the proposal at the restaurant), he had said - don't know why i am saying this to you, bas baat karnay ka maan kiya to keh dia! - so defiantly not close enough for ASR to go to Akash for help! What ASR needs is a friend (more than Khushi, she can make friends easy, its him who needs help)- someone who can knock some sense into him - don't think the new character will be his friend so really really hope that he trusts his brother enough to consider him the friend. the Poor boy NEEDs to talk - vent it out!! hopefully Khushi will be the friend in the end but for now- And i guess that is why i had not liked the scene earlier where he had asked Khushi is they (his parent/s) indeed became stars - he had asked her if his mom would have been happy to see him then - i understand Khushi's inability to respond but she should have - she should have said yes, 'because you take care of you family' kind of dialogues, ODB needs someone to tell him that his actions for his family are appreciated. We tell our girlfriends EVERYTHING...guys are so funny their conversations are so strange it really makes me wonder how they're 'close'...the thing is I don't think ASR got to do any of the bonding things all guys do while growing up...trying a cigarette-first beer-flirting with girls you know you have no chance with-sneaking out...He grew up so quickly he skipped all this...and yes he has Anjali and will eventually have Khushi but its so important for a guy to have a guy confidante too...Really rooting for Akash here.
Their NYE scenes were so good. Even if he can't tell Akash let him at least have a friend in RM he's as lonely as khushi and like you said because of her nature Khushi will make a new friend..hell if no one else she'll go to bak bak with laxmi...she doesn't even need a response.
But ASR he's quite an introvert actually so hopefully Akash will make some effort. If nothing let Akash come and espouse on the difficulties of balancing his mother and Payal...let them have a laugh about their mad hat family-nani and her goat, mami and her necklaces, di and her thaal, mama and his mad wife...let akash tell Arnav i'm happy for you bro...Khuhsi is good for you, you're all serious, silent and brooding you need someone who can't stop talking, is always happy and smiling...Just ASR have someone...and let Akash be upgraded from silent support to still in the dark but vocal support to ASR.

Anjali cares for him but not as a friend more like a Mother Hen. You know cluck concern, cluck cluck have medicine, cluck why did you not call me in 3 hours (mothers protective of their teenage kids)
Arnav does not consider a friend. He never tells her things of import. He listens to her, protects her (she is like a doll to him, extra fragile and special as she is his only connection now to his Ma).
Akash is his lil bro. There will always be friendship but bonding on equal terms maybe not. Akash will say things but he will never realize the impact they have on Arnav (be it about Khushi being thodi paagal, or about yeh pyaar bhi kya ehsaas hai)
Khushi has been his only 'friend'. He has subconsciously turned to her time and again. (be it letting out about a hard hearted world, setting up Akash, etc.)
True, ASR needs a friend. But it is his very nature to seek solitude. Recall how at NYE Dia said how sad is it that a man in his late 20's has no party to go to. He was home with his lappy when Akash called.
He will vent out but sort it all out in his mind. He only trusts his Di now. Trusting a new person to be a friend enough to confide, somehow don't see that happening with the person that ASR is - intensely private and independant with a need to be in control. Plus after recent events opening up to anyone will be a NO NO for him.
And that is why I got thinking that Arnav and Khushi will call an uneasy truce. Cos right now they seem to be venting at each other.
If the new entrant is male, let it be someone older to Arnav (say about Anjali's age), someone he can look up to and someone who could treat Khushi as a friend cum lil sis because she is his lil bro's wife. Being older would give him license and the guts to browbeat Arnav a little (something NK could not do)
Also had a sudden flash, after Anji, this was the first wedding in the family. How come no relatives of Shyam were invited. Usually in India, having over relatives from the damaad's family is imperative. Is he also an orphan? Does Anjali share that with him? Also did she have an accident, lose her leg and have Shyam save her life and marry her? Is that why the blind devotion to him? The feeling / near conviction that he loves her the most?
Sometime ago also wondered about having an elderly entrant into the show like say Nani's sis. Someone who would be a pseudo mentor to Khushi and being an outsider point out her good qualities so that people remember again. She may or may not also be aware of the past and though not making a direct mention of it may be able to help Khushi's realization and understanding of Arnav as a person. She may also be able to shed some light on KJ and may not particularly like him.

As for Arnav being alone, I read somewhere that for a woman, it's different - she always has some close women friends, but for a man, his wife is always his best and closest friend. And I do see this is real life too ... I think men are by nature taught to be unemotional and not show their softer feelings to the world, so they tend to share them only with their spouse, while a woman needs another woman's shoulder to cry on, because her husband can usually not provide that emotional support. He's more likely to say, okay, take a hanky, now how can we fix it ... while what a woman needs is something on the lines of, yes, I know you're feeling terrible, I've been through the same, I know how bad it feels, let's have a good cry together and we'll feel better. Something on the lines of, a man always feels the need to 'fix' the problem, while a woman just wants to vent - because she knows the problem will get fixed eventually!
And the way they have shown the Akash Arnav bond, I found it very true to life - an unspoken, almost awkward bond - Akash knows his bro is there for him, but he's awkward as hell talking about love, emotions and all that ... the most I expect from Akash is something on the lines of what he told Payal ... Khushi had to have a reason for what she did, and I trust her. Making Arnav think again - should he trust Khushi or Shyam?
But Arnav will have only Khushi to vent out on ... and Khushi only Arnav and her Devi Maiyya, who was filling the position of best friend as of now ... now who is the new best friend, is to be seen.
As I said above, Arnav is very lonely. He has no one he can rely on, no shoulder to cry on, no one to even ask for advice ... no older person. Nani and he are usually at loggerheads. Khushi can be his equal, his support, but not right now while there is so much mistrust between them.
So an older new entry makes sense to me ... a neutral party who can open Arnav's eyes to the discrepancies in his thinking and the reality - who can point out some of the logical fallacies we've pointed out here - if Shyam and Khushi are in together, how come Shyam hasn't told Khushi the reason for the marriage yet? How come Khushi is so upset instead of taking it in her stride - okay, 6 months and I'm out of here? Why is she so upset about Anjali's anger about the sudden marriage, when she is apparently planning to break up Anjali's own marriage - surely she didn't expect Anjali to jump for joy on that one?
Could there be an entry from Lucknow? Someone who knows both Garima and Nani and can connect the two? I guess it's too early for that yet - let this mess be sorted out before the next one hits.
I guess Shyam portrayed himself as an orphan - even with Buaji, his relatives were not invited or even consulted.

ReplyDeleteI truly enjoyed reading each and every one of your views of today’s episode. Each of you had a different view on things . God!! left to me, I would probably only get 30% of the symbolisms shown in IPK!!
Anyway the reason for my post today is I want try and get answers to a few questions that have been popping up in my head lately.
I’ve been staying away from the forum but today felt like going back and reading a few. I am all for people being able to express their views , that is what a forum is for. The posts gave me a different perspective of certain things being shown in the serial. I did want to pose my questions in the forum but later decided against it. More comfortable doing it with this small group.
I am not a ASR drooler at all,so please don’t get me wrong. What I like about this serial is the characterization of a few of the characters specially Barun and Sanaya’s. They are very very different from the run of the mill daily soaps. The storyline is pretty good although it has it’s share of slip-ups.
Coming back to my point, I for one was never for the Arhi marriage. Even a month ago, I could not understand for the life of me how these two could get married so easily. But most people felt strongly that they should get nmaried and the CVs listened. Once it happened, I was resigned to the fact . In fact I started loving it because marriage gave them more opportunity to be in the same frame. We the audience always knew (once the Shyam revelation was announced) that this would be a hate marriage . The 4th promo was finally coming true. ASR being ASR , what did we expect? If we look at it from his point of view, this guys was almost on the verge of confessing to his love when he found out that his love was having an affair with his BIL. He had a knee-jerk reaction and decided to drag KKG to the altar. It was always known that ASR would be very rude and cruel to KKG until he finds out the truth. So what did I miss ? Why are people so upset that ASR is not showing his love for KKG, he is not speaking up for KKG allowing her to be ill-treated by his family members. Given what he knows today, how can he? He is trying very hard to hate her although his love keeps taking over.
How else can the CVs take this story forward? What am I missing here? After Teri Meri, had ASR confessed, these two would have been happily married which would be the end of story , wouldn’t it? Isn’t this what we wanted or what was promised to us from the beginning? ‘Nafrat paas aane na de, mohabbat door jane na de’.
I do want to make a point about ASR man-handling KKG. I think Cvs are walking a very fine line there and need to stop with that. ASR has never been prefect but isn’t that why we all like this fictional character? Can’t love someone like this in real lif though but hey, this is fiction.
Would love your thoughts/ alternate ideas on storyline etc.

This blog is all for different people different views. We even say the same things differently at times. However at times our thoughts do converge and we all feel happy about it.
Am glad you feel this group gives you the comfort to ask questions without being pelted with jhootas :) Gargi, calls it our virtual coffee shop where friends hang out for some good coffee and chit chat.
The characters, their flawed nature and a realistic potrayal by the actors is a common factor of bonding amongst all of us here.
None of us here are ASR or Khushi supporters. We are all ArHi supporters. Its always about both of them never just one. Of course we drool over one or both as the sitaution demands but we are not beyond calling them names or giving them some danda :)We have even relegated Arnav on the RTRW - Road to Redemption Walk (a few million miles long given his recent sins) and requested for some much needed Menthos for Khushi to start her PI work (menthos - dimaag ki batti jala de)
Why They get married?
Even we debated the relevance of a marriage at this stage. And our thoughts went that had it been any girl other than Khushi, she would have been bought out and sent far away. But how do you send away someone you care for? Someone you have begun to like? Also, Arnav felt the need to punish her for having "betrayed" (his perception) him. His greatest fear has been people he loves / cares for leaving him. Hence his subconscious and conscious need to bind her to him. Hence the marriage. Go back to posts around valentine's and the week before.
Why are people on the forum upset?
People forget this is a serial. The longer it runs the merrier. Also in real life when such events occur there never is a quick fix solution. Human beings are complex creatures and by virtue of attribution so are relationships. Overnight changes in attitude will ring hollow. This realistic flavour is what keeps us all watching this show. In a forum there has to be a realization and acceptance that different people think differently, react to a situation differently and may not like the same things all the time. Trust me people on the forum who are upset he is angry with her will be the ones to turn around and say hey how come he forgave her so fast, if that were to happen. So filmy!
When you have time, go read through all the lovely thoughts penned down in the last 2/3 posts in this regard. The last 2 weeks have been hell. But essential. Necessary evil to set the stage for the story to move on. To let us have a glimpse at what happens within these characters. How they are feeling at the moment?
ASR handling Khushi
My view here (others may differ). He has always done that. Some people tend to be more physcial than others - be it back slapping / hugs, simply patting or touching. If you are healthy and have a firm hand even a pat can be construed a 'slap'. They have till date never showed him being abusive. None of us here condoned him sending her to the poolside to sleep (he is walking many more miles of RTR cos of that). Yes it is a fine line to walk but ASR is a rough character - all brawn and lil brain (inspite of his claim to dimaag and being a fashion mogul and all:>). A very M&B esque hero, very flawed hence seemingly real. He has also gradually realized when he hurts her during any physical contact and there is some attempt from his end to relieve teh pain or be gentle. But for now till his angst is over, he will be rough on her.
At the end of the day -
The writer writes it, the CVS and screenplay imagine and create the scene, the director finalizes how people will stand and where the camera will focus, dialogue writers give words to the scenario and the actors combine all of this to deliver a tangible product. Some times they excel, sometimes they fail!

DeleteLet me add my twopenny's worth here. I think the reason I did not get so upset about Arnav throwing Khushi out on Friday night was this ... and I think most of us here felt the same way ...
Look at it from Arnav's POV. This is a man who is feeling betrayed in the worst possible way. He was a stone-hearted cold monster for years, he shut himself away from laughter, he was betrayed once by his near and dear ones (his chachaji for sure, we don't know yet what his dad did). He virtually brought up his damaged older sister and he had to grow up overnight into an adult to look after her - Anjali has always been the weaker one of the two. He had to be the stronger one, his only weakness is his fear of her leaving him, the rest of his weaknesses he hides, he can stand her anger, her tears, everything else. And he is lonely - very lonely - I think that point has been made in some of the discussions today itself. It's lonely at the top where no one wants to challenge you, to contradict you ... Nani does at times, and that is the only remotely equal battle.
Then comes Khushi - she challenges him, fights him, makes him laugh, brings him back to life ... and teaches him to love again. She also teaches him to enjoy life - in many of my episode posts, I've mentioned that Arnav seemed to enjoy their skirmishes, enjoy teasing her, poking at her. He starts to think of her as his own, unconsciously treats her that way, and she always reciprocates ... whenever he is soft, she softens immediately, when he is harsh, she matches him ... she is someone who he even confide his feelings about his mother to ... which he does not even with Anjali. In short, he feels she is the closest person he has, the person he can be himself with, the person he starts dreaming of spending the rest of his life with ...
And then he sees her with Shyam and whoa ... there it all blows up in his face. That feeling of betrayal a hundred times over ... someone he thought was HIS. someone he trusted, to the point of being on the verge of confessing his love to ... she has betrayed him ... and not just with any random guy, with his own BIL, who is the husband of the only other person he adores as much. It's not just that she was being friendly with him and was in love with someone else all along, and he was simply mistaken by her friendliness ... this is deliberate deceit in his eyes, a huge betrayal, because of the guy involved.
So he is feeling betrayed - firstly because she's not in love with HIM, and twice over, because she's in love with his BIL and can think of breaking up his Di's marriage.
I said that the ArHi marriage is all about ArHi - Arnav confirmed it today - he married her because he wanted to punish her ... for betraying HIM, his love ... and doing it with his BIL ... a double treachery. Suppose he WAS right in his assumption, supposing Khushi was the vamp and not the heroine, wouldn't his actions be justified? Yes, they would, this is the girl who was deliberately destroying his Di's world, and pretending to be in love with him to complete the whole act - he would be right to feel so deeply betrayed, and want to destroy her completely ... isolate her from her family and friends, make sure she has nowhere to go, she is on the streets ...

I don't know if anyone ever read a book by Sidney Sheldon "Rage Of Angels" ... or saw a movie "Ek Haseena Thi" ... the same thing happens in reverse in both ... the girl is betrayed by the guy and she gets back by destroying him completely. In both the book and the movie, she was justified, because the betrayal actually happened ...
Well, IMO, here Arnav is justified - we as the audience know he is wrong, but HE doesn't yet ... and still he is unable to hide his love for Khushi, unable to stop feeling bad for her ... because he still thinks he has been betrayed ... those fb's of the terrace scene keep playing back, however much he remembers the other memories, he can't keep those at bay ... so why would he feel sorry for her, why would he want to protect her from Mami etc ... this is his game plan, right? To destroy her completely? The problem is, he still can't ... so he does the only other thing he can, rather than show her sympathy, he fights with her ...
And agree with HAA, that he has always been this way with her - they have always had this tempestuous and very physical relationship ... and he will continue to be this way, alternating between hating himself and hating her ... till he finds out the truth ... then it's going to be all about him hating himself ...
And that's why I am quite satisfied with the way they're showing it as of now ... yes, physical abuse is a no-no, but he WANTS to torture her emotionally, and he hates himself for feeling bad about it ... that is the stage he's in, and the stage he will remain at till he starts thinking things through a little more calmly.
I was all up for ArHi hate marriage .... otherwise how do you remain true to the story tagline "mohabbat door jane nah deh, nafrat paas ane na deh"

That struggle Arnav is going through, that state of confusion Khushi is in and Barun-Sanayas expressions just take the whole ArHi situation to a realistic level. Thank GOD SaRun expresses and not word it like all other hindi actors.
With yesterdays episode, the way they shaped khushi (or rather maintained her character) I am all up for few of Shyams plan actually working in creating more misunderstanding between ArHi. Khushi will fight back & Bitwa will have more RTRW ahead :D :D
The point to remember is that this so called man handling and woman handling is only between them and is not extended to anyone else. Arnav never even touched or held La the way he held Khushi.

If you think of promo 4 - tho everyone talks of the last lines, I have always found the 1st 2 lines haunting:
Khushi - Chahkar bhi hum aapse door kyun nahi rah paate
Arnav - Shaayad mera dil tumhe pukaarta hai
Every time he tells her to go away, every time he tells her he does not want to see her or talk to her, she comes right back into his orbit, into his life.
Her thoughts have been haunting him since they met. That night after haldi and bangles, his heart begins to beat slowly and the first name he calls out is Khushi - And she standing far away looks up as if she heard it

DeleteIntense love stories are really about that!! As an audience, one can't be deliberating on tepid love scenes between leads!!
what sets apart ARHI story is the baggage in the relationship. If they hadn't been the characters they are, it would be just any formula driven normal love story. Rich boy meets poor girl, they fight,they fall in love, they separate etc...
This is different becos of who Arnav and Khushi are and how these complete each other!!Viewers can see how the crumbling Arnav will find his bulwark in Khushi and they are rooting for it!! Not to forget the side parts that also been sketched decently well!!for a change, they actually have business being in the same frame as the leads!!

Just wanna add its not like he's actually hurt her...the one time he did he immediately said sorry...he grabs her, shakes her but doesn't actually hurt her...half the times it feels like he grabs her to hold on to her like she'll go away unless he holds on. And he equally delicate with her too. Thats their equation...she pushes and shoves him around-ok that barely counts cuz she's tiny but still. we keep using the term manhandling on the blog too but I always felt it was in -oh yeah Khushi and Arnav so its not 'really' man handling- manhandling was more what Shyaam did to her on Sangeet night-and that's something I'm hoping Arnav come to know about because Shyaam is going to see a lot more than manhandling from Arnav once he finds out he physically hurt Khushi.

Because essentially he is a truthful person. He has never lied to hide facts instead facts have been the cornerstoner of his life (remember statistics on love marriage?). He is not aware of what it entails to hide one lie (a big one at that too) and hide from whom all - from khushi the Why?, from the family the nature of the marriage, from himself that he loves her - emotionally exhausting.
Sooner or later bound to mess something up.
So the earlier he realizes that he and Khushi are in it for 6 months together and calls a truce to put on an united front, the pressure will ease and mind can focus. Looking forward to how that new promo will be worded. Khushi already told him last night that she will jolly well do as she pleases and he cannot stop her. Now if she threatens to walk out on him, will anything less than the real reason stop her? She will stop for Anjali's sake any which way but what will Arnav end up telling her?
The thought about talking to Natraj murti - nice - he just needs to come to RM. You know when Khushi spoke of how well that Natraj will look with her DM and Nani appreciated that thought, my instant thought was - the meeting of shiva and shakti, the yin and yang - the universal balance.
And yes, I again thought of whether Khushi's declaration of finding a new friend to DM will result in it being Arnav. Conch shells and all some more...Hmmm..interesting!
If it was Arnav behind the curtains, he would have heard Khushi say that her attitude of keep smiling always was her way to deal with the world - her mask. Anyone else hearing means them knowing the truth and it does not sound right to have that in the open as yet. Even KJ does not know the real reason just that it would have been by force.
Him knowing has the yucky possibility of him breaking the news to Payal saying see your sis is suffering cos of you, you need to release her from this torment. Like he tried with RB about Arnav's marriage being all wrong. But hold on! this too could backfire cos Payal will go fire her jethji and may just tell him off for doing to Khushi again what Shyam had already done - break her trust - stuff for 17th Mar ME? dunno...
I watched the episode again ... it seemed that Devi Maiyya was trying to tell her recalcitrant child ... bachhe, I'm here, I did this all for you, and for the man you belong to ... I have not left you, just open your heart and listen ...

Khushi has always had DM sanction. Remember at the temple post Shyam expose, she goes DM shakthi dena and trin trin bitwa calls. These 2 are seriously blur when it comes to each other. So may run ins, so many DM interventions still tubelights only flicker.

Its not the same in reel life!! hence the drama!!
The situation in the serial is pregnant with no many possibilities and I am so loving it that inspite of all of us conjecturing, its still is a mystery, which way we are headed!!But that shouldn't stop us from our single minded pursuit of uniting ARHI!! I have been at the receiving end of criticism when communications failed and a single individual managed to convince all others around me of a fault which was never mine. But I still remember how people lashed out at me and vice-versa when soon after that we tried to have 'normal' conversation.

In real life, its also not easy but the chances for things to iron out sooner still exists (atleast, if u are in a situation among loved ones). I feel in reel life, the makers would always milk a situation for whatever its worth!! TRP in this case...
And now back to wondering about the part of Arnav playing his side of a Happily married couple...shirt episode...Arnav is not the kind who can "act" in front of his family, he is better off being his usual gruff self...so this would be tough thing for him, how does he switch on and switch off!! DeleteBasically this was a very badly thought out knee jerk plan - Shyam said he can run away with Khushi at any time, Di is pregnant so Arnav had to pre-empt that one ... he thought if Khushi loves Shyam, she wouldn't agree for marriage to him for a lifetime, but she might agree for a limited time period ... and he gets six months to figure out if KJ is going to reform or not. What happens to Khushi after that, I don't think he even got as far as thinking, and neither about how it will refelct on the R family - maybe he thought, as autocratic as always, that HE can handle a broken marriage ... forgetting about the effects on his family ... as he is now beginning to realise!

DeleteAlso as Dia says, the CV just did not think this through - remember how "chay mahinay kay leya" was so obviously added later by someone else - i feel the CV first thought of ASR coming between Khushi and KJ (To counter the - 'the only hindrance between Khushi and I is Rani Sahiba' by KJ)
Once they shot the scene, they thought - "Hang on - if the only problem here is that ASR wants to marry in a run away fashion, it may not sound so bad, After all khushi already loves him and will only be upset about the way of the wedding but once she cools down - it will be all happy happy - The CV wanted to create the 'nafrat' element and hence had to add to the 'insult', make it a hundred times worse by adding the 6 months clause. Does that make sense?
@mona, gargi, it is so obvious that the dialogue was an add-on. at least if the cvs thought it thru, they would have made the marriage one year.. enough time for di's baby to be born..

Ans He is at the moment looking at breaking of his Di's marriage, so I don't think breaking of his own or the family's reactions has occured to him yet.
Besides this is a guy who does not care about what the world thinks.
The only reason he decided to marry La was cos of khushi and not cos his family was getting taunted.
And maybe just maybe somewhere he is hoping it does not come to that situation?

All...I absolutely loved the post and all the comments...this is what makes this blog so much fun and so addictive...kind of like watching the show itself!!

ARSHI marriage....had to happen...At first when ODB finds out that KJ is lusting after his Khushi, he is shell-shocked and in a complete daze.....But true to character, he does not stop to ask Khushi the meaning of all this, instead ends up going to Di, like a homing pigeon. I was watching an older episode last night, where ODB tells his DI, 'Main aapke saath kuch bura nahin hone doonga...main kuch bhi kar sakta hoon.' So in his desire to protect his Di, he wants to make sure that Khushi is out of Shyam's reach...and how better than to marry her himself? He also wants to make sure that Khushi is under his nose so that he can keep an eye on her and thinks that he can control the situation this way. Of course, he does not bargain for his own emotions getting in the way. Of course, DM is at work all along !
Looking back at all the episodes, Khushi can never leave RM or Arnav; Every time she has left, she has returned in a stronger position. She started out as someone who worked for Arnav in an official capacity, was treated like a servant. She came back to help Di with La and was paid. After the engagement was announced, she came back to help and refused to take money....this time she was doing the Raizadas a favor. With Payash getting hitched, she becomes part of the new bahu's family..which is more of an equal footing.....Then next we have her making her way firmly into Arnav's heart and mind and now we have her as his wife...even though this is supposed to be for 6 months. Hamari bitiya toh raaj karegi! Circumstances, or Arnav himself, cannot bear to let her go. ODB, for all his being a ruthless businessman is not able to connect the dots in a calm manner. But that is the best thing about this show...how flawed and real these characters are. There is so much passion between ODB and ODG that neither is able to think straight.
As someone said earlier in one of the comments, it has been hell watching the marriage happen the way it did. No one can change the experience on the wedding and all the rasams for Khushi. Her wedding was like nothing she had imagined. Even though she was marrying her Rajkumar, it was never meant to be like this.
Lets hope that the dimaag of our ODB starts to kick in and he calls a truce and they are able to work through this mess that he's dragged them both and the family into.....Just delicious to think of what lies ahead!!
Yeah... I've been feeling bad for khushi because as I said she may get another wedding to Arnav but none of the other firsts...:-(

The one thing the CVs will have to bear in mind when they play out this "happily married" for outsider's consumption is how they show Arnav/khushi affected during this charade?
ReplyDeleteI am willingly to give bitwa the benefit of doubt today for his complete ruthlessness as the "loving" pati becos in a way he knew the mami convo and he suddenly saw her spying on them. So it called for a knee-jerk reaction...any romantic moment would naturally have looked silly here!!
But in many cases, it may not be so..so the interweaving of these real and forced feelings should make for a round of delicious viewing, if handled well!! They have to tread carefully!!
"Aaj yeh pehenna hain"? was classic and Khushi shaking her head priceless!!
