10/1 - Epi 161 ... Mosquitos cause problem

10th Jan 2012

Seems to me that what's going on is a kind of repeat of the Diwali track, where Arnav horrified at his weakness with Khushi, bounced back by declaring his engagement to La. Here a much milder version, where again caught on the wrong foot staring mesmerised at a sleeping Khushi, he backed off immediately and declared war - I win, you lose. Which Khushi this time took him up on ...
Or is it a repeat of the office track with Arnav throwing challenges and Khushi accepting them and defeating him every time ...

Whichever it is, as long as it develops the Arshi relationship, I'm game.

So we start with a repeat of last night's ending scene, with a militant Khushi declaring war on the Raizadas, and Bua getting all caught up in the spirit of things ... Garima and Payal worried as usual, but Khushi has to avenge her so-called defeat.
Okay, if there is a jugalbandhi between Buaji and Nani, Nani will win hands down - Bua can't dance saala! =)) But in enthusiasm, she is behind no one ... except Khushi, maybe!
Bua notices the torn chair, Payal manages to deflect her attention.

RM - nice to see Naani and Maami back ... I like the side characters of this show .. it was really incomplete without them! And hopefully the comedy is back where it belongs ;)
So Madhubala has resigned as dance teacher, Nani will teach, and she cleverly manages to goad Mami into dancing as well.

Khushi arrives, and starts her campaign ... first pawn - NK ... she starts telling him about the competition and gets distracted by mosquito ... machar dance. NK holds Khushi's hand and drags her off to learn his steps ... watched by a very irate Arnav, who fumes so much that he loses track of his office conversation.
Good, at least we're getting to see a fuming Arnav! Finally! :">
Poolside - the Arshi  haven ... Khushi tells NK about the competition, but the mosquito is still distracting her, NK finally realises and goes off to get mosquito spray, because he doesn't want to get 'loveria' ... I thought he already had it =))
And of course Arnav arrives ... poolside and Khushi ... and Arnav na ho? Ho nahin sakta :P
Khush still fixated on mosquito, it lands on Arnav's cheek, so she slaps it ... cheek, not mosquito ;). And is promptly completely horrified and petrified at what she just did!
[Dia's note - Khushi looked petrified, Sanaya obviously had a very good time doing that shot! =)) ]

And after ages, we get the Angry ASR background music ... he is furious!
Hmm ... I agree with Barun's advice to ASR .. dude, you seriously need to take it easy!Along with Sanaya's advice to Khushi, direct that to ASR as well - Calm down!

Poor Khushi tries her best to explain what happened ... the mosquito ... NK also adds his bit, along with his mosquito repellant, which should prove the truth of what she was saying ... but Arnav has well and truly lost it this time.

I wonder why ... it really wasn't that big a deal ... the sort of thing which could actually happen. I wish the cv's had managed to find a better excuse for Arnav to get angry with Khushi ... this was a bit lame. Maybe it's the comedy element they wanted again ... and also to make sure that it wasn't anything major, so it's clear that Arnav IS over-reacting. Especially after the flak Khushi got for "spoiling" Arnav's party.

So poor Khushi is in shock at what she just did ... cute byplay between Mami and NK ... hello hi ... machar bye bye ... Khushi starts to tell about her idea for the competition, even though she's still very distracted by what she just did to Arnav ... dance competition between ladkevalas and ladkivalas ...
And Killjoy Arnav is at it again ... there will be no competition ... NK adds fuel to his fire by asking him, if there is no competition, how will we know if you're the winner or the bandar ... He hit the nail on the head ... Arnav knows Khushi very well indeed, and he knows that this is all about their challenge last night. So his first act - use power to kill the other party, he wins automatically.
Unfair tactics! :) Play fair, Mr ASR!
But of course the whole point is to show Khushi that he has power and might on his side, so he will win!

Laad Governer (dictator) is a very apt name for him all right!
He comes and makes a completely unfair announcement, and expects his entire family to accept it quietly. As Anjali rightly pointed out, he didn't have any objection earlier, he even told NK to take part as his replacement! Why this at the last moment?!
Loved Anjali's reaction when Arnav said ... Di, you know I don't like loud music and noise ... she was like, #-o huh? Since when?
Nani says then we can do it outside, Arnav says ok, NK blithely adds, we'll miss you ... Khushi shakes her head at him ... be quiet ...  he pipes down. NK-Khushi are cute!
Mami Mama all pipe up, Mama says it won't look nice if at a family function a member of the family is missing (hope Arnav heard that one!) ... Akash agrees and says that's why it's better not to have the function at all ...
All the while Khushi is quiet, and Arnav is giving her glares ...
Anjali is very angry ... why suddenly has Arnav changed his mind - there was sangeet at her wedding, at Payash engagement, we've been learning for so long ... I think cv's were making sure to let the viewers know that this WAS an autocratic and incorrect decision ...

Khushi thinks it's because of her slap, and she feels terrible ... it's unfair for the entire family to lose out on what they were looking forward to so eagerly ... just because of her mistake. So she goes and apologises again to Arnav about the slap ... and seeing her tears, he melts again. It's okay. She cheers up immediately ... so we can go ahead with the sangeet? And he's incredulous and angry all over again ... were you play-acting just to get me to say yes? She denies it, horrified again ... all she thought was he's angry because of her slap, if his anger has cooled once she's apologised, he will agree to the sangeet. And since he's angry again, she apologises again ... and finally offers - slap me too then it will be fair and square!

My thoughts - why did Arnav stop the sangeet? Because he knows exactly what Khushi is up to ... the challenge between the two of them last night. Khushi being smart, has found something to defeat him at, and of course he can't swallow that. So first step, use unfair tactics, exactly as he did in the office track, use his power - to get rid of the opposition.
Added to which, a healthy bite of jealousy at seeing NK grab Khushi's hand ... hey, buster, grabbing Khushi is my prerogative! Already fuming at NK's midnight visit and flowers for Khushi, realising that this dance to which he very unwisely and in the heat of the moment, said no to participating in, is causing him a lot of heartburn!
Always said that Arnav when angry takes all the wrong decisions.

  1. Shwetha, Deepa, Geetu and all, I gave my reasoning for Arnav's decision ... what do you think?

I saw the IF iv with Daljeet where she said they're feeling jittery because there are lots of twists and turns coming ... so keeping fingers crossed again.

I think ... or rather, I hope ... that the overdose of comedy we got from Khushi the last week or so, was because Mami, the chief comedian was missing. Today already, Khushi's comedy was toned down ...

My reasoning for the mosquito dance and slap I said above ... to make it a non-serious reason and make it clear that Arnav was over-reacting.

I rather liked Mamji's remark that if a family member is missing at a wedding function, it does NOT loook nice, and Akash's agreement, that it's better to cancel the function. Hope that makes both Arnav and his fans reflect that what he did by excluding Khushi from her sister's engagement party was very rude and inexcusable! No wonder the poor girl never told either Payal or Akash - if she had told Payal, Payal would most likely have refused to go without her, and Akash would also have insisted on Khushi's accompanying them. And that would have embarrassed Arnav far more.

  2. @Dia, Finalllyyyyyyyyy..explanation for the haar jeet track that makes sense, I am referring to the first para of your post. Now it kinda make sense.

And the excluding khushi from the party thingy, what you expect will not happen. I still keep reading why khushi does not remember old moments?

My answer, Does Aranv remember them at all? Every since that blood stain thingy, he has not had a genuine flashback of their moments, If he did, plz point me cos I dont remember.

Heck He does not even look at her the way he used to. Infact I now find him staring at khushi and at Nk are pretty much the same. Even at the lowest point in their tempestuous relationship, there was a certain way he looked at her, where has it gone?

Unless he starts looking and acting possessively with her like he used to nothing is going to happen.

I found akash's reaction idiotic, what about the girl's family, you cant just cancel sangeet like that..Where did he get that sudden arnav streak anyway.

Your explanation about Arnav doing what he did makes sense.

Angry ASR would have been more effective if they had shown her breaking her laptop by accident, rather than mosquito and slap.

Nk dragging ASR..Could see the fumes there, get your hands off her, she is mine.

But what does all that jealousy do, nothing. My thoughts are all over the place now, will come back later again.

  3. Hi Dia,

    Loved your post.

Fundamentally, ASR is still very much alive. ASR means ego and anger. Khushi knowingly or unknowingly makes the man toggle between Arnav and ASR.

The person getting mesmerized by Khushi - Arnav
The person who challenges Khushi- ASR

The rich business man, full of ego with an attitude of making any thing work with power, money and clever business mind, who has lived life all along his way, no one dared to stand against him, all fell in his way, no one dared to cross his way....and one girl comes, with her silly games...comes and slaps him. HIM!! Ouch! I guess, he would have probably toned down a little, if she would have not explained NK on what she did to Arnav. More ego...that too in front of NK???? As it is Arnav is fuming at NK and imagine someone telling NK that ASR got slapped. I personally did not like the gesture of "ek dediya" that Khushi was making with her hand. I would have equally felt insulted. And the receiving end we are talking about ASR. I was finally glad to see ASR screaming "get out" after long time. This reminded me one of those of initial episodes where Khushi comes to RM to hand over all those typed reports and the servant says Anjali is ASR's sister. Khushi imagines one side ASR screaming "Get out" and one side Anjali saying "Andar aao". The way this was shown was also nice.

Bottom line, comedy track must be giving boost to TRPs and all, but what I do not like is where Khushi's character is heading. It's becoming more silly. I want that matured, strong, talking sense Khushi.
With the kind of current tarck, mujhe door door tak Arnav aur Khusi ka future nazar nahi aa raha :(

I am now strong believer that, they are never gonna confess to each other, Arnav will marry her under some pressure and this is gonna be evolving love after marriage.

  4. Shwetha >:D<
Thank you!!! Glad you thought I made sense ... because I was wondering myself! Probably a combination of the office track kick-started by his embarrassment ...

Yes, I know ... forum will always blame Khushi for the party thingy ... forum is getting more and more immature day by day! I actually fail to understand why Khushi was the immature one today ... okay, she was somewhat childish in planning the sangeet competition, but the challenge was thrown at her by ASR in the first place for no good rhyme or reason, except for the fact that he felt HE had lost to her!

And I agree completely - does Arnav remember anything at all of their old moments? Khushi at least has been trying to reach out, he has been throwing her off at every single opportunity ... even the moment when she clutched his hand in excitement when Payash got together at the cliff, he just frowned and she took it off ... then Friday and Monday episodes she reached out twice, and both times he threw her off ... why would she think of the old moments at all when the guy is doing nothing but bark at her? The only thing she would remember is the way he talked after Diwali at her house - because that's all he's doing - putting her down again and again. Unless he starts getting his act together, she is not going to remember any of their tender moments.

Even today, she cried, he melted, she got happy, that okay, now we can have the sangeet, and his first reaction was - you were faking it? I have NO faith in him believing her about Shyam now, when the truth comes out ... in fact I really wonder does he love her at all or is he just attracted to her physically? Because without respect, there can be no love ... and Arnav never bothers to look at her as a person and see where she's coming from ... he just gets angry all the time. People say his character has progressed ... I don't think it has at all.

I found Akash's reaction idiotic as well ... I wish someone from the brainless Raizadas had pointed out to Arnav that if the sangeet was a joint ceremony, he had no right to arbitrarily cancel it on his own! Unless of course he felt that as he was paying for it, he had every right ... NOT a very noble feeling, in my view! Anyway, he acted like the old ASR - angry with Khushi, so get back at her, regardless of whomsoever else he hurts in the process!

Yep, I wish they had shown a more realistic (and less comic) reason for the anger than a mosquito ...

I liked the little touch of NK saying ok, don't come if you don't want to ... and Khushi frowning slightly at him to tell him to shut up, and he subsided. :) Sweet! It was a very wifely touch - don't bug my hubby right now, he's angry, just keep quiet ...
and of course, like good wifey, she went off to tackle him later alone ... look, you're angry with me, don't take it out on the family ... Again, I wish they had made her say the words, then maybe her intent would have been clear - the way she tackled him after he yelled at Lavanya. As it is, it came across that she was just play-acting again ... x( Especially with that idiotic last scene ... slap me if you like!

I think the script needs some major tightening! :(

  5. Deepa,
Yep, old ASR is very much alive ... with his ego ... today it was all about his ego, Arnav took a back seat, except for when he melted with her tears, which was too short and not very well done a scene ... they should have somehow stretched it till tomorrow and given a better written Arhi scene.

At the end of the machar scene, I actually felt that WTH ASR, stop over-reacting! Don't understand why he got so annoyed at what was obviously a mistake ... especially when Khushi was so shocked herself at what she had done. Ok, first instinct would be to get mad ... but the rest was just over-reacting.

My daughter has once slapped me on the face for a mosquito too, so maybe that's why I just didn't see why he got so annoyed. And exactly the same way ... she told me, mom, stay still a moment, shh ... and she went whack! Not very hard obviously, but it was still a shock :P And she missed the mosquito - obviously when you know you're hitting a person's face, you tend to worry about that rather than about the mosquito. I've killed many on my kids' arms and legs and not missed them - face is more dicey! But it does happen!!! That's why I feel they should have shown a better reason for ASR to get angry - the whole episode was just about him getting angry enough to cancel the sangeet. The mosquito slap for me was just not a good enough reason - unless to showcase Arnav's extreme irrationality as far as Khushi is concerned!

But I completely agree with you about Khushi's character ... I hate the way it's heading! And the slapstick they make her do ... it's so irritating, it's just not funny any more!

No way will they have a simple confession and love marriage ... a hate marriage is seeming more and more on the cards. If there is a marriage in the first place ... I would really prefer a separation and a small leap of a year or so after Shyam's truth comes out - enough for Khushi to grow away from Arnav, mature and come back as a more polished person, yet with the same fire and spirit in her as before, only better able to tackle Arnav, on his own ground. Then it would be a worthy tussle. But I guess that won't happen - they have to keep it a middle-class girl vs rich guy kind of story ... :( so they will keep her as silly as they have now made her :(

  6. Hey Gals,

Agree with Diyu about the repeat of the diwali track....but this time there is no LA, there is only NK who, day by day, is getting closer to Khushi.......so hopefully this track will take an opposite result...after diwali he cud manage to keep her thoughts away, as LA was there, and also her fiance was physically not present....but seeing Khushi with NK will definitely make him rethink bt his plans....but then somehow the intensity of jealousy is not wat i expected for ASR....some of the jealous expression eaarlier during the time she was engaged were far more convincing for me....this time seems more like anger and irritation.....

GH scene was ok....can u imagine Payal doing Nagin dance :-D

though i want khushi to be more mature...i love sanaya's comedy, always get me laughing and this time Buaji was also supporting her.......Garima tried her best to grow a spine, but sadly couldn't !

Wasn't looking forward to the Slap sequence, but knew it was coming, so was ok with it.......But agree with you, that it was to show that Arnav was over reacting, but doesn't he do that always, even during the cocktail party.....

i thought maybe the reason for cancellation the fact that NK was getting more closer to Khushi, along with the win-loose thing, as now (after the NYE incidence) Arnav knows with what intention NK touches her, so that could also be a reason, also he himself sent NK as his replacement, he can't re-claim his place. So better to cancel the sangeet.....

I wish Arnav ponders over Mamaji's words, but i don't think thats possible, atleast not at the moment....

You are right Shwetha, he doesn't look at her the way he used to....what's happening :(

  7. Dia, I did not find the sangeet competition childish at all, u know how in marriages, suddenly the competitive edge kicks in, I would say that was very mature compared to the mosquito and thappad. I cant believe that was included in the show*ughhh* (Can you point me to the site which has keyboard shortcuts for emotions, plz?)

Khushi has NO idea her tears affect Arnav so much. As far she is concerned, when she cries he responds not because he can't bear to see her cry because the good in him comes out and he acts sensibly. If she knew how much influence she has on him, I am sure she would not manipulate him, infact she is most likely to revisit their old times and try and figure out. In my head when she finds he went out of his way for something, she is going to ask him, you did this for me? Why? And even if he tries to brush her off, she would not give up. After Diwali she has completely frozen any thoughts of him, you can't blame her after he made it clear "n' number of times how she does NOT mean anything to him.

Gone is that melting gaze, the way he used to look at her, now like you said it is only anger. I sympathize wit the actors, both worked hard for the six months to portray so convincingly the complex emotions their characters went through, now find themselves confused and cliched.

Ya, that was good one, her signalling NK shut up, now is not the time nor is it the right way to handle him.

Though I did not like that she went NK to the pool, granted he dragged her there and she told NK about the slap, I think that must have angered Arnav more, It is between you and me, why are you bringing him in, no wonder, arnav said Stay out of this NK.

I rewatched the cupboard scene - I want that ASR and especially that Khushi back. I barely recognize the people who were yesterday as ASR & Khushi.

I think I would prefer a separation track, both of them need Time out from each other. Let her go away from his life, let them miss each other, let her mature (read tone down a bit from the current one)a bit (more like the khushi of the old), new hairstyle, new wardrobe and let them meet again.

Marriage track with the current ASR & Khushi- meh..he will be shouting, she will be crying or anwering back, sounds boring even while I am typing.

Let us hope Daljeet wasnt kidding when she said something big is gonna happen.

Deepa: totally agree with you - future for arhi together looks very unlikely at the moment. The way these two are going, after NK leaves, Dhruv enters they would still be fighting over cockroaches, kicks and sangeet.

Dhruv btw, is akash's younger brother who strangely is missing from his own bro's wedding. Achcha hai, we cant him falling for khushi too.

  8. Dia, It wasn't a bang but it wasnt a whimper too. I loveed that in the arhi kitchen scene, we got our old khushi back, so my hopes have brightened for our show. Maybe this is what LM was referring to, that the show is slowly coming back on track.

Two more things, How do you expect a girl to think about a guy romantically when he continues to tell her he doesnt think about her and she overestimates her importance in his life, DUHHHHHHH. She felt his closeness and before she could process it, he opens his mouth, grrr..

And this cast is exceptionally talented, watch the silence scene, too damn good ya.

@Geeta: Since the last 2 epis, we have the ASR music back and today for most of the episode I felt the old khushi is back. If only ODB starts looking and act the way he feels, like he used to earlier...
