Just watched episode - one of the best non-intense episodes in a long while. Best parts in reverse order:
Second best moment - Akash's small speech to Payal about her not leaving her family but joining his as he would become part of hers - very, very sweet - exactly the kind of thing a girl really needs to hear just before her wedding. Payal is so lucky to have a guy like Akash - he might be timid and shy and a bit boring, but he is the ever-reliable genuine type.
BEST moment - the small serious conversation between Khushi and Arnav, where she asks him - why are you like this? As though she has seen the loneliness of the man behind the mask and wants to probe deeper. And he actually answers her ... till he realises he is giving away more of himself than he intended, so puts her off with a jibe about her 'dimaag' ... but too late - she's caught a glimpse of the real man.
Rest of the episode was a mad roller coaster - fun to watch, Sanka Devi Khushi at her craziest, zaniest, most worried and frantic best, Arnav in his usual What The * mode, NK was cute in his confused smitten with Khushi mode, Buaji was =)) in her smitten with NandKishore mode, Garima was wallpaper as usual.

Ok, I stand corrected, the Khushi as Sanka Devi parts were better than Payash. So all in all, a good episode - no bad points to pick out at all!
Starts with repeat of last night's NYE midnight scene, as Khushi does the countdown almost screaming in her excitement, to the background of heartbeats (Arnav's?) ... only to be confronted with ... not Jiji, but LG ... :-o ... and her smile fades to a shocked disbelief ... and the shock also fades ... as they just look at each other ... as though they are doing exactly what they wanted to do ever since NK mentioned that silly NYE prediction ... as though they knew deep inside this would happen, despite whatever they did to prevent it ... as though they knew it was meant to be this way ...:">
Then Khushi recovers her senses ... and takes off ... what are you doing here? You told me that I shouldn't come in front of you, and here you are! Do you know how scared I was the whole day ... poor girl, she was petrified, that somehow his words would come true and she would never hear the end of it ... and here the boot's on the other foot entirely ... how did you even come in here, the window???!!!
And he finally manages to shut her up with a hand over her mouth ... keep quiet, or your family will come in and know that Payal is out with Akash!
And her expressions change ... the fight stops immediately as she takes in his words, looks over his shoulder at the empty room and realises the truth of what he's saying ... her sister? He did this for Payash?
Interspersed with Payash who are having a nice romance, blissfully unaware of what troubles their respective siblings are going through for them.
And Khushi has calmed down enough to muse wistfully about how much Akash loves Payal, that he did this for her just to see her face at 12, how different he is from Arnav ...
Arnav, almost on his way out, comes back indignantly ... Excuse me?! She's actually insulting him again? After all he's gone through the last hour or so?
But she wasn't insulting him, didn't mean to ... all she meant was ... Akash believes in all this, doesn't he?He did all this only because he wanted to see Jiji's face at 12.
And Arnav saw Khushi's face ... but of course, he doesn't believe all this nonsense ... it doesn't mean that he's going to spend his life with her ... no way ...
Filmy, stupid stuff ...
You think it's all stupid nonsense ... because you don't believe in love at all.
That's right. I don't.
And he makes for the door again, not noticing how her face goes small at his words ... does he really not believe in love at all?
Her voice stops him ... Vaise Arnavji ... he turns to face her and she continues, her tone serious, her eyes wistful, as though she really wants to know ... tonight is the first night of the new year ... everyone is with their loved ones, exchanging greetings, wishing for something special for the people they love ... on this first night of the new year, everyone has new dreams, new hopes ... but you? So much bitterness inside you that even love seems a waste of time?
He swallows, as her words hit deep inside him ... inside to the Arnav he buried long ago, the one who did believe in love, in wishes and dreams ... once upon a time ... till the harsh realities of the world shattered those dreams and that faith in love ...
And she asks him ... why? Why are you like this? Why so bitter? Why have you hidden away all that softness, that love?
As though she knows it's there, she's seen it, seen it in the little girl at the temple, in his love for his sister, in the way he helped to get Payal Akash together, even tonight helped them to be together on NYE because it meant something to Akash ... but he hides it ... why?Why does he keep himself so alone? So lonely?
Her eyes reflect her emotions ... reaching out desperately, trying to understand. She wants to know ... she needs to know ... needs to understand him ...sensing the loneliness behind the mask, the pain he tries to hide always ...
And for once he reaches back to her ... still harsh, but the harshness a reflection of his own pain, not directed to her ... the world is crazy because it's asking for something, wishing for something ... just wishing doesn't work ... that's all nonsense. Just by decorating it with fake flowers and lights doesn't make it beautiful, the world is as ugly, as harsh as it always was ...
And she hears the pain in his voice, feels it in her heart ...
But he's already revealed too much ... he retreats ... you won't understand, because you don't have what it takes to understand this ...
What?
His trademark smirk ... dimaag.
As he most probably intended, that's enough to excite her indignation, to make her stop probing, stop asking uncomfortable questions, stop looking behind his mask ... because if he didn't stop her, she could ... she could be the only person to see the real him ...
And of course it accomplishes what he wanted ... she forgets to ask him any more questions in her annoyance ... as she stops him at her door ... just as the knock comes on the main door, and they both stare at each other in shock ... who's this now?!
Ok, this is silly, but I loved the way they both stopped their nokjhok and turned to look at each other in complete unison, identical expressions on their faces ...
NK ... after all his romantic plans, he fell back on Arnav's simple suggestion - knock at the main door and ask to wish everyone.
No wonder Arnav didn't land up using his own plan ... practicality is fine in its place, but guess whose face NK got to see first thing on NYE ... Buaji's!
From here, the episode went into complete, hilarious slapstick ... Buaji going all lattoo over her NandKishore, NK's horror at his imagination of Buaji as his life partner (cv's have definitely been visiting IF! =)) )Buaji going all gaga that NandKisore sent his videshi doot! =))
Loved the way Khushi sees Buaji and runs back inside her room, shoving Arnav back in, much to his annoyance, his usual 'What the ...' and she covers his mouth with her hand, in complete reversal of what he just did to her ... this couple believes completely in equality! =)) And Arnav didn't strongly object either ... for a moment or two anyway ... :) before he realises what's happening! What the ...
So Khushi begs and pleads, kaan pakad, uthak baithak, anything you want, just don't go out yet, Buaji will see, then I'm in trouble, Jiji is in trouble, and maybe you too ... he has to agree =)) as if he ever had a choice once Khushi got going ... Arnav incredulous to hear that Bua's Nand Kishore has come ... and Khushi slides out the door to keep troublesome aunt and midnight visitors at bay.
Which includes her Amma too, as though Bua wasn't enough ... and Nanhe ... Bua going dreamy over NK and pinching his cheeks was epic =))
NK wonders if Arnav is inside, Khushi denies it completely and tries frantically to stop anyone going into her room, let Payal sleep, I'll do uthak baithak ... Bua and Amma think she's lost it ... not without some justification actually =)) ... NK stops her uthak baithak ...
And Arnav paces inside with completely different frustrations ... why the hell is NK here?! What happened to his jetlag?! And he peeps out ... just in time to see NK wishing Khushi Happy New Year most enthusiastically, while Bua takes the flowers he got for Khushi =))
Khushi manages to get rid of NK ... and then sends Buaji to bed too ... and finally goes back to her room to deal with Arnav ...
Who is most annoyed on his own track ... what the hell was NK doing here? Why did he give you flowers? What happened to you ... this as she paces up and down ... Are you okay?
Of course I'm not ok, I saw your face first thing ... how can I be ok?! =)) Can you go now?!
And what have I been trying to do for so long?! =))
He tries again ... just as Buaji's voice come ... haye titaliya ...
And Khushi holds her head and goes .. haye re Nand Kisoree ... =)) =)) =)) EPIC!!!
He says, I'm going, I don't care about Buaji ... she drags him back, bade aaye Laad Governor, you stay here ... Khushi is totally cracking up dealing with the whackos in her life =))
Buaji calls again ... Khushi tells Arnav to lie down ... and knocks him off balance onto the bed .. completes the job by putting his feet up, and covering him with the blanket ... and lets Buaji in.
Buaji insists on Khushi lying down ... Khushi obeys very, very reluctantly, as Arnav grits his teeth under the blanket ... what all situations this girl gets him into ...
And last shot is of Khushi lying down on the very edge of the bed, as far as she can get from what she knows will be a furious Arnav ...
And we have a 72 hour wait for the next episode of The Khushi-Arnav Games ... with no precap to guess what's coming ... please let them have a few sane, sweet moments to start off the New Year ... Barun mentioned a power cut, so will he soften to Khushi knowing her fear of the dark, and that lead to some nice moments before he leaves? Fingers crossed!

ReplyDeleteloved the episode.....though comedy, but it wasn't like the bathroom comedy....NK saw Buaji at midnight...:D...she is totally fida on him....will definitely try to fix him with khushi
and Arnie was so jealous that nk got flowers for khushi.....
liked the blanket scene...keeping Arnie still in character, yet making him do all this silly things..only khushi can manage that, just like she got him to play-act to get payash together.......
Akash was good....his dialogue was awesome...but again i felt something missing in payal's expression, just wondering how sanaya would've done it...haven't seen MJHT but saw a few of sanaya's scenes and loved her in those scenes.......
didn't feel khushi OTT....liked her acting....also she calmed down later.....but she can't restrain herself from comparing akash and arnav, hai na.........must be hoping somewhere deep down, for arnav to be like akash :P
i was hoping he would explain her that love doesn't always mean breaking rules...its more deep...like always being there for ur love.....fulfilling their simple wishes.... bringing a smile on their face or get angry when anybody hurts them etc etc...but i guess that's too much to come from ASR... esp when he himself doesn't realize why he did all that for khushi...
i hope this wasn't the convo LM was talking bt on his FB page.....me want more....i mean, coming Arnav, this is also good no doubt....but he needs to open more towards her.....don;t you feel.....

Arhi: I loved his soft expressions at seeing her, almost defeated, dont see the point of fighting this anymore. Looooved sanaya's shocked and confused expression, shocked he is there in her room, confused as to how did he get here and why is she so happy to see him till she comes to the present and blasts off..A well deserved one, if I may add. For all his smug talk, look who showed up in front of him.
Her asking him to leave and his constant, what else do you think I am trying to do was awesome. Him shutting him up, her shutting him up which from his expressions caught him totally by surprise, him insisting on leaving who cares about bua, her you dont, but think of us the sisters, all hell will break loose.
Her Kaan pakdofying that is what he wanted during the ring episode right, here you go, infact I will take it another step, uthak baithak, just shut up and do as i do..Devi maiyya helping...awesome.
Best scene: Like you said, is her one line Aap aisay kyon hain? Why so much hatred, cynicism. The argument they have been having since the time they met with each time no answers given yet the emotions involved different. If earlier accusations were being hurled at each other, this time it was a silent desperate plea from her side.
Why are you like this? Why can't you feel or show some sort of positive emotion? You say you dont believe in love, yet you are here. I am not even thinking that you are here for me, but it is obvious you had something to do with akash and payal meeting each other at 12, so if you dont believe in love, why are you helping them? Help me understand you. Sanaya's voice modulation in that one sentence conveyed so much, wow.
Arnav's tum nahin samjhogi and the duniya the way he sees it, Barun was equally good. You are incapable of seeing the world I see, the world I have experience - Because you always see the good in people, you have never seen the ugly side of the world. You won't understand. You know what I dont even want you to understand cos for that you or your loved one would have to experience what I went through, and I dont want to ever see you go through that. It is okay if you dont understand, it is better for you.
Ofcourse since he cannot say the above, that would give away his protective instinct towards as if she is unaware of it, so he uses something to distract her from the real issue with the dimaag comment knowing full, she will take the bait and her question would get temporarily forgotten.
That scene gave me the hope that we are in store for more such scenes and hopefully it will come back on track.
Did you catch the sbs segment where Barun says power goes off..I wondered why he sounded so odd when he said that..NOW, it makes sense, they are in bed together, bua would leave, the power goes off and she gets scared and maybe hugs him and this time hopefully ODB will hug her back with shshsh..It is okay, I am here and Rabba vey again.
Ya, peck on the cheek or forehead might happen, abhi nahin toh kabhi toh hoga, so again a new year and a new beginning hopefully.

ReplyDeleteAgree with you completely - the comedy was slapstick all right, but it wasn't pointless or silly - it was really well done and enjoyable all through, it made sense! NK toh gaya ... Buaji is all fida over him! Her next crush after Shyam! =))
Arnav was good ... again stayed in character, though again I wish somewhere they had shown his embarrassment that he told Khushi she will come in front of him, and HE came in front of her! :P But his jealousy about NK bringing flowers for Khushi was great to watch! Now can this guy proceed ahead and actually DO something?!
Akash was good, Payal was meh ... she is okay in her scenes with Khushi, even in the comedy scenes with Akash she was tolerable, but in the romantic scenes she really falls flat ... Sanaya as the shy, timid Gunjan was a hundred thousand times better! I'll fish out a yt link to Samrat-Gunjan's dance lessons and you will see the difference!
Khushi for me was the jaan of the episode ... I didn't think she was OTT at all ... even the Jiji is sleeping, jiji is sleeping bits were funny ... Khushi is frantic and panicky, Payal is missing, Arnav is skulking in her bedroom ... don't blame her for freaking out! She held the episode together with the sheer energy in her performance!
Arnav explaining about love ... no, don't think that's going to happen ... in fact I think it's more likely that one day Khushi, when she matures a bit more, would say those things to him ...
But I agree with you completely ... I really want more CONVERSATION between them ... that little bit was so good, why don't they give us more of that? Rather than all the comedy? Okay, some comedy is fine, but there has to be some seriousness alongside ... let the supporting characters do the comedy and the leads get serious now - high time!

Arhi ... best scene hands down - that tiny snippet of conversation ... and LOVED your take on it ...

Sanaya's eyes, her voice in those few words ... beautiful! I can't wait till we get more of the serious Khushi ... Sanaya will rock those scenes!
And Barun too ... first I loved the way his expression changes as she's talking, reaching out to him ... his eyes soften, he swallows as though she's hit a sensitive chord, and then he lets his bitterness out ... to her ... only to her can he show his own pain ... he's seen how harsh and cruel the world can be ... when he begged and pleaded for help, when he wished, when he dreamed, there was no one to answer ... there IS never anyone ... because the world is cruel, it doesn't care ... and she doesn't understand that, because she hasn't ever seen that ugly side - not the way he has.
This story of how they explore each other could be so beautiful ... I really hope the cv's bring this back more strongly. The best scene of Friday for me by far.
I have to re-watch SBS and Barun saying power goes off ... see if I can get any clues ;) ... it's a long wait till the episode! :P

Dia, awwwww you did. You know what you said also made me realize, they are both surrounded by their families, yet are all alone, and the only person who cares genuinely for them with zero expectations is the other.

Oh and my guess is he will pull khushi towards him when he realizes buaji will not leave unless khushi settles down and bua will be quick to point out that she is sleeping at the odd angle. Bua leaves,she turns, their face incredibly close, Power goes, she gets scared, hugs him and for once ODB hugs her back..Till their pyaar ka dushman, power comes back again along with payash.

Geeta: From your previous point, I get the point about bua wanting to gift khushi her own dress for emotional reasons, yet I somehow always feel that khushi's needs tend to get overlooked by her family and maybe they wont realize that. So if that red dress is somehow responsible for soemthing good a great moment or even arnav taking her out for shopping, I am all for it.
