4/9 - Epi 334 ... Tum Dena Saath Mera O Humnawaz

Tuesday 4th September

Highlight for me today was the strong understanding and support between Arnav and Khushi in the first scene, Khushi trying to explain to Arnav that he can do what he thinks is right in every instance, he can do everything in his power for his sister's happiness, but there is a higher power which overwrites what we do ... and he cannot re-write fate ...

Karmanyavadhikaaraste ma phaleshu kadachana
You have the right to do your duty, do what you deem is right ... but you have no right to the fruits of that duty ... 

Arnav always put his Di and her happiness ahead of everything, including his own happiness ... in doing that, he unknowingly committed many wrongs, one of them being the destruction of a young innocent girl's life. His intentions were noble, his path was not. Is this the reward for that wrong he committed? That the very sister whose happiness he swore to protect and preserve, today lies shattered, her world in ruins?
When he discovered the truth, he threw out the true villain without a second thought, thinking to right the wrong he had done. But again, another wrong ... still trying to preserve his Di's world, he didn't give her a reason for his actions, or not a strong enough one, leaving cracks in the wall for a certain slippery snake to slide through.

His intentions were always noble, and he received the fruit of that ... he got as reward, a woman, a partner, a soulmate ... a woman who would walk with him on every step of his life, a woman to guide him on the right path, a woman who would be truly his strength, his ardhangini, with him always ... a woman who now explains to him that his intentions have always been true, he has done his best ... but more than that, he cannot do ... for some things are best left to a higher power ...

He can control his own thoughts and actions, but how can he control the thoughts and actions of others? Can he control the evil of Shyam, the gullibility and unbending rigidity of Dadi, the weakness and helplessness of Di?

And can he control his own biggest weakness, his anger? His temper? When it comes to the two most important people in his life, his wife and his sister, he cannot ...
Krodh buddhi bhrasht kar deta hai ... Anger destroys reason ... and that is his biggest weakness. That is where Shyam scores over him, because Shyam always manages to stay cool. That is where Arnav needs Khushi the most, because Khushi also has the ability to stay cool, to keep her head, and not lose her reason to temper.
(The original Khushi lost her temper only with Arnav ;) Now she doesn't even lose her temper with Arnav ... what love does!)

What Khushi achieved today ... she stopped Arnav from withdrawing into his 'peetal bartan' ... she told him  that he might not have succeeded in protecting her from Shyam, but he still can be with his Di, because he is, and has always been her strength ...where earlier, Arnav would withdraw from everyone to hide his own pain, today Khushi encouraged him to face it ... when he said he didn't have the courage to face his sister because he felt he had failed her, Khushi encouraged him to face Di because Di needed him ... his own pain had to be ignored, internalized, kept aside, because there was someone whose pain was greater.
And isn't that what Khushi always does? Forget her own pain in the bigger task of soothing the pain of others. Today she taught Arnav how to do that ...

Rest of the episode was Shyali, Shyam pulling more wool over Dadi's eyes, Arnav bashing up Shyam in hospital, which, although satisfying to watch, did absolutely nothing to prove Arnav's point to Dadi, and everything to prove Shyam's ... good thing Khushi stopped Arnav, pity she didn't make him listen to reason ... because there is no way Anjali will stop worshipping Shyam on the say-so of anybody else ... it has to be Shyam himself who betrays his truth to Anjali ... no other way will work.

Did Arnav's mythical 'shatir dimaag' finally make an appearance? Did he realise that Shyam and Dadi were rather over-friendly for what should be their first meeting?
The confrontation between Shyam-Arnav .., interesting as a contrast to the first confrontation ... then, Khushi was absent, and Shyam sold Arnav the lie that Khushi loved him back ... now Khushi was present, so he tried to sell the lie that he loved Anjali ... wonder if either Arnav or Khushi bought that one. 

And liked the last scene when Arnav tells Khushi to come with him to settle Anjali ... he obviously trusts no one else now.
But again, a decision made in haste and anger ... it seems to be ridiculously easy for Shyam to enter RM at will ... aided by a willing Anjali who tells the nurse Shyam is her husband ... even if Arnav gave instructions that no one is allowed in, if Anjali herself countermands those instructions, what can Arnav do?

Am still pretty lost as to Shyam's motives ... why did he want to lose the baby? Doesn't that snap the last link with Anjali? The only reason Arnav let off Shyam so easy was because of the baby, now the reason no longer exists. And even if Shyam enters RM, he will be watched like a hawk by Arnav, Khushi, NK and Mami, and probably Nani too ... what does he really hope to achieve?
