Today the major turning point wasn't Sumer's return ... it was the reveal of Mohini's extreme hatred and jealousy, and the reason for it.
So Dilsher went with a rishta for Mohini, the older sister, and chose to marry Mala instead. Mala got the older brother with the title to the haveli, and became jethani to her older sister. What was worse, she gave Mohini her younger brother-in-law as a charity handout ... or so Mohini felt. And Mohini's hatred and jealousy has been festering for the last twenty eight years (Dia's note - shouldn't it be 29 years? Rudra is 28 years old) ... much to the surprise, no, shock ... of Dilsher, Mala and Danveer, who really had no clue that Mohini felt this way.
Either Mohini was a very good actress all these years ... or Dilsher, Danveer and Mala are all really dumb!
In all this, I liked the way Paro never obeyed Mohini's instructions to leave, but waited till Dilsher told her to go ... making it very clear to Mohini that her loyalties were with Dilsher and Mala, not with Mohini at all. And she doesn't trust Mohini an inch.
In other scenes, Rudra sulked some more, prompting Paro to remark that all she has done since getting married has been to feed Rudra like the kid he is. Yes, Paro ... we all feel the same way!
And Rudra may claim he hates Mala, but he can't sit and listen to her being insulted and made a tamasha of ... so he stalks off to office. Good thing too ... he remembered he has a job ... of course, Ashish also has dance rehearsals!
And in precap - Laila is back :( But Rudra tells her clearly that she has no place in his life. Am sure Mohini will try to repeat history by playing games with Laila, Rudra and Paro ... and that might help Rudra to finally realise how she drove the wedge between his parents.
So the story begins to unfold slowly ...

Posting the links of two very cute SBS segments ... after a long time, Sanay and Ashish masti on sets ... they are both hilarious! Ashish seems to be severely infected with Sanaya's peculiar brand of crazy ... his 'don't cheat' ... 'itni jaldi nahin sudharne vaale' was typical Sanaya!

OMG! Spewing venom seems to be a understatement!!! She did not spare anybody included that her daughter-in-law has not produced a heir yet, Mala ran away, Dilsher's handicap etc etc.Phew.
ReplyDeleteSo why Mohini harbors so much animosity with her sister and her family is finally revealed.
Granted that it must have be embarrassing/insulting that Dilsher choose Mala over her, but it seems like she is petty, egoistical person. Because if she considers how she is doing now she has a good, patient and caring husband, loving kids and thriving business, basically she has got it all, but she is not able to see the big picture.
This had to happen I suppose, she is the villain in the serial after all. ;-) ;-))
Dia, don't think that Dilsher, Mala and Danveer were unaware of her resentment(s), it's just they did not realise that the cause of her ill feelings went so far back to an event that was nearly three decades old. She is born a truly mean person! Am sure her sibling rivalry with Mala probably went way back and Mala would have been aware of the impact Dilsher's change of heart had - hence, the suggestion for Mohini's marriage to Danveer in order to placate her older sister - sigh, little did she know.................Mohini wanted it all and no price was too small to pay!
ReplyDeleteHey everyone*hugs*
ReplyDeletehe remembered he has a job ... of course, Ashish also has dance rehearsals!
- Lollllllllllllll which requires he wear a uniform, which he seldom does.
I watched the epi after ages, did miss the first few minutes.
Mohini's bitterness -
Didn't we discuss this in the blog ages ago that maybe the reason she hates Dilsher so much was cos he chose Mala over her?
You know in all this I really felt bad for Daanveer.
He was practically given no choice in marrying Mohini.
He did so, for his brother.
Got Mohini as a wife, scratch that....a bitter Mohini as his wife.
He has tried his best to make this marriage work.
On a lighter vein, dunno why Mohini is so bitter about?
She got Daanveer (in random order) - a better looking, nicer guy, with a government job whom she has bossed around for 28 years.
Dilsher dumped Mohini for Mala, he in return got dumped by Mala.
I wonder if Mohini realized, how lucky she had been in hindsight.
If she would have, she might have ran Aishwarya Hum Dil De chukay Sanam Run towards Daanveer...(Err..maybe a walk considering they were standing so close by) and scream........I am so glad I married you!!!
Duhhhhhhhhhhh..
Did I mention, I felt bad for Daanveer?
Other important aspects I noted in the show:
Advantage of being in JDJ and the possibility of new audience checking out the show - Ashish seems to be regular with his haircut plus got his wardrobe upgraded.
The entire men's wardrobe seems to have been upgraded.
They never showed (sorry if I missed it) Sunehri's reactions in the crucial scenes.
Samrat still does not get a dialogue.
Mala is wearing Ghaghra, Laila has been upgraded to saree? Wow.
Story is moving pretty fast.
Aman is back, yayyyyyy.....
Where is Tejavat, Phir Gaayab??
Finally, these people never get to finish off their lunch or dinner do they?
Welcome back Shwetha :) :) :)
DeleteNow I understand from where Rudra has got his bitterness. His dad. His KcM. Intense hatred and bitterness seem to run in their veins. This is just the first chapter of a whole revenge, hatred drama. Dilsher rejecting Mohini for Mala and Danveer (true to his name :)) agreeing to marry Mohini as a small compensation. It's so true that hell knows no fury like a woman scorned. :D :D I wonder how the haveli members would react if the whole truth of Mohini unravels. There might be a preface to this. The sibling rivalry between Mala and Mohini. Mohini's character is exaggerated, may be because this is a TV show and who does not like to see some drama. Parents often tend to pay more attention to one child. They tend to compare one kid with the other in terms of intellect, job, gender, etc. Favouritism is a very natural thing, but does not mean that it is right. I know people who have received less attention from their parents when they were kids, later becoming emotionally unstable. There is nothing painful than the feeling of being unloved by others. It might be an individual's imagination that he / she is unloved or unwanted by others. I feel, in most cases such people can be helped merely by giving them our slightest attention. I am not sure about Mohini's case. Methinks the CVs would show her as an all-evil creature hose primary focus is to destroy anything that belongs to her sister. Despite the deep negativity in her character, I am enjoying her scenes. I have said this before, but I am saying this again. Unbelievable portrayal by Ananya Khare. Sarcasm personified. The way she taunts Maithili about being / not being pregnant. She just does not miss an opportunity, does she? Rightly said Dia. The phrase 'Carpe Diem' suits her the best!
DeleteOther things I liked in today's episode.... Rudra-Paro interaction. Atleast Paro knows that Rudra's plan to give her Mangalsutra. This would only boost her confidence. But the idiot spoiled it immediately by saying that she preferred Mala over him and that's why he didn't give it to her and who knows, Paro might consider their relationship like a dhaaga, the way Mala did. Disappointed that I could not watch a nice interaction between them. But I guess, today was all about Dilsher-Mala-Danveer-Mohini.
Hopefully, they show something pleasant tomorrow. As of now, I am just (re)watching the SBS/SBB segments and consoling myself. Please CVs... enough ho gaya rona dhona and the drama. Please kal kuch lighter moments dhikhao.
Lovely take, madhu mitha ... I hope they end the week with some nice PaRud romance ... last night was a good episode, important for the back story and for Mohini's villainy to make sense ... but it was just so heavy on the negativity. I hope today is lighter and we get some sweet moments with romance. Also I feel that Rudra needs to start showing some regret for being so harsh on Paro ... he's had a cooling off period and he needs to start thinking now.
DeleteMohini smartly got rid of all the "kids" before starting on her sob story ... and Rudra had already left by then anyway ... so neither Paro nor Rudra will understand for some time, just why Mohini is so bitter against Mala. But how this will play out further, remains to be seen ... so far the audience is beginning to understand the story, but not Rudra or Paro yet.
Aaaaaannndddd ... Shwethu ... welcome back!!!! *HUGS!*
DeleteShwethaaaaa!!!! Welcome back! Lol!!! Enjoyed your post.
DeleteAaaand she's back...!! ;-))
ReplyDeleteDia,nice update for Thurs epi.Yet to see today’s epi.
ReplyDeleteofc, the backstory of Mala and Dilsher has been brought into focus but my peeve is to do with Dilsher's characterisation by the CVs. I am not getting the some of the math right. Maybe i have missed some part here.
What we know for sure today is that Dilsher had asked her to go away but seems ok for her to stay now, even if awkward or should I say almost guilty. So, what could the reason be for that change in his demeanor? His interest in keeping his version of the past a secret? Or his desire for a more normal future for Rudra?
Dilsher either knows the entire truth or the economical truth. Mohini, by her own admission has had a part in the past. In either situation, if he has decided that Mala has to be given her place back, this could not have been a “eureka” discovery. It is not her appearance that has caused him to change his mind, isn’t it? It is something he would have known for some time. Tho, I agree he has been surprised by her re-appearance, his knowledge of the past is not a new matter to him. If he knows the complete truth, why has his interaction with Mohini not been reflective of that matter. Accepted therefore that he knows the economical truth;his version but a version sufficient to queer the pitch for all the players.
When Dilsher was introduced as a character, he did not come across as a bitter person to me, he was gruff tho. He kind of changed after Paro, becoming more genial by the day. All this painting of him blaming Mala was a refrain from Rudra mostly, am i not right? Or did they spend some time delving on that in the narrative, i am not so sure.
Dia had put up an interesting explanation earlier for the change in Dilsher, which I completely bought into. As the narrative was not clear, one could assume that men may view episodes of the past with greater equanimity than children with the passage of time so I could accept a forgiving Dilsher and a bitter Rudra. So, it was never amiss for me to accept Dilsher's "mellowing down" so to speak. Now we know it is not mellowing down that happened. Probably his feeling that the past will never return to haunt him seems more the explanation. It was something else so why did the writers not prepare us for that in the story till now. Even a small enigmatic glimpse of that Dilsher would have been sufficient for us today to gather/add up that all was not ok with the version of truth that Rudra had been fed. Today Dilsher’s actions have made him a hypocrite, which he may or may not be. Also, come to think of it, did Rudra not notice that his father had gone mellow in the intervening years. So why were there no questions from him about that?
So, for me the volte-face from Dilsher is a strange one. He is a mixture of guilt and awkwardness. This is the curious aspect. Somehow I feel, the story is at that stage where Dilsher, before the Mala re-entry was secure in the knowledge that the past will not come back and today is shattered that the past was never that far away from him. In hindsight, I so wish they had shown Dilsher as a fire-spitting meanie and imagine the impact when a man angry until yesterday about Mala suddenly calls it a personal matter. To me that would have been a real killer scene becos it meant he wants to keep quiet for some mysterious reason
However I guess the writers wanted to show Paro and Dilsher having a sweet equation, which may have caused them to ignore this aspect.
But what we have is an avuncular man suddenly having a secret hard to fathom. I suppose there is more to the story than the Mohini angle. For me, Mohini is persona non grata…she has no role to play in the back story, whatever might have been her efforts. The real deal is between Dilsher and Mala. It was evident in the cold hard countenance of Mala and the awkward Dilsher
Rekha,
DeleteTo me, Dilsher's volte face is not the current one, but the one he underwent at the start of the show. When he was first introduced, Rudra had just been transferred back to Chandangarh, and came home to tell Dilsher. That Dilsher was still bitter and poisonous, his first welcome to Rudra was 'did you meet your mother?' And words to the effect 'I can't forget her, because everyday I see her eyes in your face.'
His mellowing happened overnight when he entered the haveli ... and that was more difficult for me to digest. I would have been happier if he mellowed more slowly at that time, with Paro's influence ... instead he seemed surprisingly ready to accept her.
The current Dilsher has made a uneasy peace with his past, acknowledged his mistakes, does not want his son to make the same ones and wants him to move on. From the glimpses of Mala we have seen, Paro is very much like her, gentle, sweet, giving ... except that Paro is a far stronger character.
Dilsher had given up any hope or expectation of Mala returning to their lives ... so he didn't bother to correct Rudra's impression of Mala. After all, Rudra seemed to be recovering from that old wound, and moving ahead in life with Paro ... what good was it to rake up the incident of fifteen years ago? Dilsher has mentioned more than once that mistakes were made by both him and Mala, that they could not salvage their relationship. With age, comes maturity ... and Rudra is all Dilsher's son ... so I can imagine Dilsher was every bit as impulsive, hot headed and quick to wound Mala with words, as Rudra is today with Paro. And looking at Paro Rudra from that angle, Dilsher can see where he went wrong ... which is why he tries to stop Rudra at every opportunity ... don't bring Laila here, salvage your relationship with Paro, be good to her, she is the best thing to happen to you ... to me, all these things are expressions of Dilsher's regret as to where he went wrong with Mala, and how he hopes that Rudra will not make the same mistakes he did, and be left empty handed, if he succeeds in driving Paro away, the way Dilsher drove Mala away. So it is obvious that Dilsher blames himself for Mala going away ...
How much Mohini contributed, and how ... am leaving out, as of now.
Now when Mala returns, Dilsher realises anew, how damaged Rudra is, that he still carries that deep anger inside him against Mala, that he has not moved on, as Dilsher had hoped ... and hence Dilsher decided to bring Mala back, to allow Rudra some closure. Maybe a belated feeling of guilt, that all these years he allowed Rudra to hate his mother, and blame her completely for leaving, because Dilsher hid his own role in the drama ... he even hid the fact that Mala wanted to take Rudra with her, she didn't abandon the boy. And Danveer's disclosure about Mala's phone call, reinforced that, Paro describing Rudra's reaction to Mala immediately thereafter reinforced it further, so he asked Paro to bring her back ... to sort out Rudra, more than anything else. Also guilt now that Mala is back ... she doesn't deserve this treatment from Rudra ... while she was absent, it was all right if Rudra continued hating her, because it didn't affect Mala, it was too late to change Rudra's POV, and it might not make any difference to either Rudra or Mala. Now he sees that it still makes a difference to Rudra, and worse, it might affect his relationship with Paro, his life with her ... so it is essential to give Rudra to true story, in the hope his feeling of betrayal lessens, and stops affecting his present and future.
Mohini has a role to play all right ... while I believe that a marriage can only be broken by a third party when cracks are there between the couple themselves ... but Iago had a huge role in driving Othello mad with jealousy, enough to kill Desdemona. Mohini is the female Iago here.
Dia...thank u for filling in some aspects that i have missed in the tale....I started watching RR very late...and even so..these are random scenes i see, a whole epi here and a whole epi there..so my impressions may not be entirely correct.
DeleteI read ur explanation of Dilsher's current state of mind. I am inclined to accept your explanation...becos I do feel that Dilsher wants a better future for Rudra...but I do feel that if this was a book and one was describing a situation of the kind u wrote above, it sounds plausible and entirely acceptable but when it is on screen, there are limitations to make it a convincing tale.... Else it all seems much ado about nothing....when frankly it is not. Even if they find a convenient cause in Mohini, it is not as if one of the two can escape responsibility of the relationship going to see. If they are going to make it about closure for Rudra about Mala...they will end up making it a pandora's box for Rudra about Dilsher...Rudra, who is emo fragile in this situation will end up feeling like between the devil and the deep sea. anyways It is an interesting situation for Dilsher and Mala..what that does for Rudra and Paro..i am not entirely sure.
*relationship going to seed
