  1. thanks dia for taking the time out and making the post for us*hugs*

After ZGH, this is my next recommendation for a show:

Badaltay rishton ki dastaan on zee aka abhaas's new show

If you like watching something that is complex, dark/grey and run of the mill, do watch this, the ensemble cast is top class...every character has a story, you have a fabulous villain who is the FIL and a intriguing relationship forming between 2 unlikely people aka abhaas & sanjeeda's character....more on the show later:)

Quit watching MB back to reading updates which itself is a bit boring:(

QH: Mehhhhhh...could have been better, we are back to middle of the night, sasta candle light engagement, dilshaad is the cutest coolest mom ever....ayaan is still contacting different hairstylists to get all that hair off, Asad and zoya are okay, do wish Arshad was directing this (ofcourse hopefully he has moved on to better things, where is he btw?)

Yesterday for instance when Asad blurted out, will you marry me..ideally there should have been a momentarily pause to convey time standing still....Asad getting all tensed about her answer, searching her eyes, Zoya stunned wanting to say it, but unable to..but what happened, it all got over in second..

This was their Khushi meri sagaai aaj ho ya kal ho ya ek mahinay baad ho, tumhay kya farak padta hai, ....pause from her side and humain koi farak nahin padta, suna aapnay!! Moment and boooooom, that didnt happen....I guess it will be a while before the above classic moment gets matched on telly*sigh*

    2. hey Sweths Hi.....hows u? all settled in?

I have heard some nice things about this dastaan show...i don't subscribe to zee...but i will try catching the updates..tho too bored to watch online

I have given up on reading updates on QH now. U said it...the fact is faraqing has been done and now its diffi for any moment on tv to "faraq" any further....the pride of place belongs to IPK for its subtlety, for being in the moment during that phase...anything will now be its pale imitation...whichever way u look at it....*sigh* indeed

    3. Shwetha,
      Badalte Rishton....

It really loks like badalte rishtey, right?

Actually I loved it during the phase where Meera tried to convince Nandini she was as wronged as her...some beautiful dialogues there...

With the latest party scene, I am a bit confused. Are they implying Balraj- Meera twist here? (Can't stand these Bold n the Beautiful storylines...is this how the rishtey change?)

Also wondered what Meera was doing there actually. So she is convinced that her child has a share in his/her father's inheritance? Why does she want to hang around the family of a man who clearly betrayed her?

On QH: Me too, missing Arshad. He is off the credits for about 2 months now. I hope he is being circulated around in the other 4L shows.

But LM is not doing a bad job. A lot of things picked up after he got back. The particular scene you mentioned was not a dhak dhak moment, because it is a question he is repeating. He asked her already 2 weeks back, "Aap mujhse sagai karegi?", in jest after he blurted out to Dhurandhar about the engagement. And Zoya was flustered at the directness of his Q.

Actually the whole of last week, the question has been playing in Zoya's mind and she has repeatedly cornered Asad. The Q she asks is not, "Aapko farak kyun padta hai", but "It looks like aap ko farak padta hai, but why can't you admit it, dammit!"

That 'aap mujhse nikah karegi' was a careless Q thrown her way,he probably wanted to fluster her again, like he did the first time. It was high time he shut her up...but Zoya was ready this time...with her "You think I am mad..."

If you continue to watch QH, may be there will be a point when you stop comparing to IPK- I used to do it for the first two months, not anymore...Zoya is louder than Khushi and she is a go-getter, not a 'darti hai par karti hai'.
And Asad is not an arrogant tycoon who is playing cat and mouse games with her, but a man who knows she is good at what she does. Only problem is she is over smart and tends to step over the limits, a little too often.

You saw that scene where he says, 'jhoot ke pair nahi hote' and she looks at her feet- that is Zoya...when it comes to telling white lies, she is Khushi ki nani. :D

I was disappointed with the engagement scene too, because it was too rushed. They should have had a prelude with Tamatar helping Zoya get ready, and bringing her...I was really surprised and wondered if I missed a scene there....Where are the family moments, 4 Lions? Grrrr....

IPK- Isn't there a lot of beauty in the concept itself? Poor girl meets rich man...isn't it the ultimate fairy tale?

QH: Rich, educated, US-bred girl falls in love with a thorough gentleman who cannot stand loud characters...

And this girl does not shy away from bringing up awkward moments, because she is curious enough to want to know what makes a moment awkward, whereas he prefers to run away from those soul searching adventures of hers.

Just giving a gist, in case you are planning to watch it.

IPK...sigh...how can you all even think of comparing it with another show, without knowing everything else will pale? (It is sacrilege. :D)

Is any one watching Khoobsoorat in Sony?
      Do give it a try.

"Iss chai ki aadat daalo. Kyunki meri tarah aapki zindagi bhi is chai ki tarah berang aur tandi honewaali hai.."

This, from a heroine who has been tricked into marrying an ugly- looking guy. She blames him for being the good actor he is actually not...she mistakes his simplicity for another chaal-

The guy's response in this scene was classic- a slow smile- simple and accepting- an understanding husband. If she asks for divorce tomorrow, he will hand it to her on a plate- he adores her to that extent. Didn't watch this week- hope it is still doing well...

Never knew the Navya female could act so well...the male lead is cute...the silent suffering husband. The tables are turned, for a change and I am loving it.

    4. Su,

      HI.....
Not about comparing really.....its like this....we will state that IPK has no second....kind of a pre-judged aspect....it may seem that we are lessening the importance of others while talking about it.....to be honest...i am not even qualified to compare becos i have not watched anything with the intensity that i spared for IPK...never before never after.....but IPK is RIGHT UP THERE (despite all things that i critiqued it for)

Shweths...kitna likh dala...bas tere liye ab padna bhi padega......

      chalo girls catch u later...

    5. Rekhs*sternly* padho and bak bak about it...Waisay kuch zyada hi likha na maine*facepalm*

Su:Ditto Rekhs, on the comparing thingy...To QH's credit, it is doing a far better job of balancing the side stories than IPK ever did, if only they had, well, let me not go there..

At the moment, it holds my interest, Like Rekhs said I am not crazy about it as I was for IPK, so it is the faltu bak bak that I am doing at the moment...Ofcourse FK's Pyaar may talli thing on CC did made me go and watch some IPK scenes and go awwwwwwww and to be very honest I am yet to find a scene of Asad-zoya that I would want to watch it atleast couple of times....MB had 2-4 of those...that sort of defined the couple..now let us see if I find something in that league here...even if I dont, it is cool

      Delete
    6. Rekh, Shwetha,

*hugs* Nothing like IPK, despite the many criticisms we had...

      Shwetha,
Try watching bol na halke sequence and Asad's holi dream sequence...

ASR was arrogant and could grab Khushi and have as many eyelocks as he wanted- because he was the ASR.

      RK is the same.

Asad cannot afford to do that after all the tehzeeb lectures he gives- he cannot afford to look arrogant and cool, because that is not him. Instead you will find him running and hiding- he did that literally once when Zoya asked him about the bhang nite. She mustered up all her courage because it was an awkward topic, and the moment she opened her eyes after asking the Q, she found he had scooted! That is the hero for you. :D

There is actually a lot to these two characters than meets the eye. It may look like they are having an ego tussle over, 'Who will say it first?', I think there is more to it.

I think their equation is clearly expressed in one of the final scenes this week, that had their introspection.

Asad confesses that he can neither let her go, nor let her near him...

and Zoya is fed up...Main karoon toh kya karoon. Aap mujhe jaane bhi nahi dete, aur paas aane bhi nahi dete...

    7. Su I caught the epis on and off, planning to be more regular from now on..Even I was surprised by the possible hint of balraj meera, but I am guessing we are headed towards agasthya meera...

Balraj may insist on it to avoid questions from the society trusting Agasthya not to stake claim over the property..

His mom who abhors meera might just go along with it cos that puts one of her sons with a real chance of inheriting the property...

Agasthya and meera find out about the real intention of BA and decide to join hands to get back at BA....If they get married, it will be known as Agasthya's son and not Anirudh's....so let us see how this goes...

  2. Thanks for the recommendation Shwetha.....there is such a dry spell on TV these days that I am back to reading updates for the most part. I have been watching Qubool Hai (on & off) mostly because I like the way they are finally telling a story with the interplay between Raziya Begum & Dadi on one side, Asad & Zoya on the other....improvement on PH's side but cannot match ARHI & IPKKND....Asad seems to lack depth and Zoya screeches too much. Is ZGH headed into a close? Great work all around but excuse for marital tiff seems lame to me.....or is this real? In which case, the lead is a neanderthal........... :(

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Aki Enjoy it while it lasts yaar, ZGH has not more than 3-4 episodes left. And it seems in the original novel, the tiff was about him suspecting she had an affair with her BIL...Yahan osama hai. Is he being an absolutely double filtered Jerk, yes..but I think I understand (dont agree with him though where he is coming from..he knows even in college days she used to be friendly with usama and they kept in touch with later too...So from the beginning she has shown preference for usama even though just as a friend whereas he was used to girls going lattoo over him and not usama, here she used to royally ignore him and be friendly with usama...plus he is still insecure slightly about her..

Even when she said yes to him, he was maan gayi, aisay hi maan gayi, no guarantee whatsoever..He is crazily in love with her and is at total ease expressing it, she holds back, he still has not figured out why though he is beginning to when he says yeh ladki nah in maanegi, admitting that she is going to miss him...Combine all that and the guy goes nuts...plus this is a show, so thoda toh chalta hai

      Delete
    2. I have to catch up with the last episode ... will do so today. Have to confess there are lots of things I find iffy about ZGH in terms of the characterization ...

The one good thing I really liked, was the way they showed Kashaf's mom determined to educate her daughters and make them capable of standing on their own feet, and maintain their self-respect and dignity. Of course, Kashaf is far more bitter than the other two girls, my reading of that was because she was old enough to see the change in her father and resent him for it ... She was the first child, am sure she received her share of love and affection from him before the second and third girls arrived and it was cut off completely. So even if subconsciously, as a very young child, she saw the difference in treatment, and that sank deep into her psyche.

It's like Veera ... Veera misses her father not as a person, but as an abstract concept, and from the little she sees of Gunjan being pampered by her father. She has not experienced a father's love the way Ranvi has, to miss it. Ranvi misses his father far more, because he had that love, and lost it.

The things I don't like so much in ZGH ... Zaroon is quite an MCP. Yes, he has his reasons, the perceived neglect by his mother because she was busy with her work ... so for him, Kashaf's mother is the ideal woman, because she has held a job, as well as run her house and brought up her girls with that tehzeeb he wants ... girls don't meet boys or get too friendly with them, they have their strict curfews, ghar ka bana khana ... basically he wants a woman to do both, but he doesn't see the fact that Kashaf's mom had to do all this because her husband was a kameena. He sees his father's never-ending compromises as a fault, of his own and that of his mom ... and that is something they have played up a lot ... that a "Westernised" career-oriented woman STILL should be the one handling the house completely. His father is resigned, but I don't see him doing anything proactive in terms of running the house in his wife's absence, he still expects her to have his shirts etc ready ... So that's the other thing I don't like ... that the woman is still expected to do everything at home, and the husband doesn't have any duties at all. The way they showed Zaroon's sister and his fiance was the same ... the girls go out a lot, meet their friends, are unwilling to give up their lifestyle for their husbands, and the husbands are so wonderful that they understand all this, it is entirely the girls' fault that the relationships didn't work. So the Westernised working career-oriented woman is bad, and the gharelu women who manage home and job together are wonderful ... they have shown extremes to prove their point.

And Zaroon's love for Kashaf initially seemed to stem from his dissatisfaction with his mom and sister ... he wants a woman of a particular type, he saw that in Kashaf, and he wants her to be only that way. Kashaf is bending over quite a bit to accommodate him ... I thought there would be a bit of a fight about the transfer to Islamabad, but she agreed very readily ... I remember a similar situation in my home when I was newly married and had a great job offer ... me and my husband discussed it a lot before I decided to give it up, and we still wonder whether we did the right thing. So lots of places where I ponder the Zaroon-Kashaf equation ...

Have not been watching QH at all ... had no time, and the one episode I did watch, put me off ... it has become totally a family drama with a whole bunch of scheming conniving women ... no wonder it is riding high on the TRP charts!!!

      Delete
    3. this point was wonderfully analysed in detail in the show itself... where zaroon's father and mother were talking and dad said, we have raised pretty annoying, selfish and ziddi children (i know there is a one word term, but i forgot) who are not willing to compromise even a bit.. this conversation was during the Zara divorce time... and that did indeed strike a chord inside me, because yes, zara was modern, and zaroon was a stud with MCP thoughts, but neither were willing to compromise their ideology for the sake of their partners, at that time. they were not willing to step back and see the bigger picture, and their dad understood that. their mom was defensive, saying (she made sure) the kids have always been high achievers in academics..(and that was true) and dad said, that is not all that kids need to learn while growing up.

i remember that conversation, because it resonated with me.

i have not watched the last 3 episodes, so dont know the current situation.. but from where i am, i see that it is a very modern show for a lot of the non-expats. people find it difficult to digest that a girl has this much power in a relationship.. yes, she is (ridiculously) educated, and that gives her a step in equality with her husband, and that is why the show passes the logic questions of the aam junta..

  4. Rekhs: I am good re and yes settled...well almost..

Dastaan is a good show, you can catch it online or read the updates but try to watch the epi on and off as i do. This show has many characters so it would be easier if you can associate a face with all of them...

Short story from what I remember.

Balraj asthana is the ruthless cunning business tycoon obsessed with money and his business and nothing else..

    Asthana are joint family.

Biji - I think is Balraj's mom aka the wise and shrewd Grandmother who keeps a tab on Balraj Asthana (BA) and the only one who BA is a bit wary about.

His elder bro's widow - Another so called religious but psycho Saas who is hell bent on ensuring her own two sons inherit the property and rightly so..

This lady (sorry dont know what she is called so let me call her Senior Evil Bhabhi) is not well educated but is very shrewd and a dominant character. She has two sons

Elder son is a cop who is married to a bar dancer and only the couple know the wife's past secret. His wife is an absolutely sweet and amazing character. Both the actors are pretty well known and act well. They have a son I think.

Younger son is Abhaas aka Agasthya Asthana. He is a bit of complex character, he looks like the chamcha of his Chachaji aka BA but has a mind of his own. BA likes Agasthya and tells him almost everything but BA dont think wants Agasthya to inherit the property so it is an interesting relationship that these two share.

BA has 3 daughters and 1 son

1 daughter is married and her hubby lives as ghar jamaai who is an aspiring writer but basically treated as a GFN jamaai although he is a very likeable character.

2 daughters who are not married yet.

The 3 daughters although are scared of BA, but do have a rebellious streak in them...again something different.

BA had a son Anirudh who was married to Nandini, BA's business partner cum friend's daughter. Now this guy as it happens to the actor in all his shows wonder why? is a complete jacka** who has an affair with Meera pretending to be single.

Anirudh dies and there is major complication going on wrt to the property which I am just not clear about. Balraj is keen that if not anirudh atleast his son should inherit the property.

Now nandini has a miscarriage so BA is close to panic. In comes Meera who comes searching for Anirudh and is shocked to know that the guy died and was married.

Turns out Meera too is pregnant. At first the family takes her in thinking that Meera is anirudh's friend but later finds out that she was his GF and all hell breaks loose.

Surprisingly it is BA who sees an opportunity the property will be with him and brings her back to home and starts ignoring nandini as Meera is going to give him Anirudhs son.

This is where the story is at the moment, I know thoda confusing hoga and added to that the way I would have confused you all more(

    ReplyDelete
  5. Oh yeah...more

Nandini meera, start out as friends but now nandini is furious with meera

Nandinis dad is absconding and she tells BA that she has no clue where he is, although he is very much in touch with her dad. I believe Nandinis dad is in the process of finding some proof against BA to expose him.

Agasthya Meera an unlikely couple, seriously.

Agasthya meets meera and she tells him she has come in search of a friend whom she loves. Both are shocked to find out how each is connected to anirudh.

Agasthya is the first one to figure out that Meera was Ani's GF and concedes that she was fooled by his cousin bro. Initially they have bitter arguments but there is a grudging respect that gets formed. So much so when Agasthya finds out meera is pregnant, he arranges for her to leave to protect his family, maybe his heritance also partly cos he realizes what BA might end up doing. He does feel slightly protective towards her. When the whole family finds out and things get a bit ugly, he tacitly does support her . Both are not rivals, neither are they friends but they do respect each other and for Meera he is the guy she can talk to and a guy who does not judge her...

It is a beautiful intriguing relationship at the moment and frankly these two barely get a scene a week together, but the scenes are worth it...Abhaas is brilliant as Agasthya and yeah they do have crackling chemistry of a different kind

If the above made sense you might also want to check out their scenes thread

yaar... don't have sony, zee colors here...my sum total TV viewing attention span for soaps is 40-45 mins...can't waste money on subscription for that much of viewing...Tho viewing is up from last year (by 15 odd minutes) and that too i can only surf...(iPK being the odd exception last year, when i used to keep the remote to myself for fear that someone would change the channel..even watched the silly ads that are shown on SP channel then) Khair....nothing earthshaking on SP atm....i do catch a few moments of SC/MAsterchef....veera i tend to see somedays in the mornings on repeat...again fleetingly....of what i seen, to me Sneha Wagh is one helluva actress...i would be interested to see if they develop the Ratan-Nihal angle..(there is potential for a heartwarming tale there if they try, methinks"!!).the kids tho cute...their moments in the story seem to have kind of tapered off...naturally their point has been made..they needed to shift focus from them for sometime now...

I am also following up on ZGH...forgot to mention that!!gud build-up...lovely story of relationships...

Btw, how is Abhaas's acting in the Zee serial....In IPK apart from his diction and dialogue delivery (in which he was miles ahead of everyone else)...he did not impress me much once he was revealed to K...is he any better here considering he has a meaty role again?

I am sure Aditi and Sanjeeda are doing a gud job...they have the calibre...Aditi esp...

    4. Badalte is based on a hit bengali show which ran for years and had quite a convoluted plot I believe. If they stick to the original plot, Nandini and Meera will stick together to fight BA.

Zee was having this biiiiiiiiiiiiig holi celebration and daughter enjoyed that so that whole week we ended up watching Zee and I really liked how she plans to trick him with that color on the towel thingy and he outsmarts her...Today was a decent epi, made me smile and the BEST part was when Shireen tells Razia, if you wanted to cut your hair, why didnt you go to a parlour, why did you cut it yourself, why are so obsessed with saving money, LOLLLLLLLLLLLL.

will look out for the bol na halkay song, it is one of my fav songs..

  7. My lambbaaaaaaaaaa isshtory on Badaltay rishton ki dastaan or is it kahaani, hopefully you might have atleast skimmed through it....

Watch tonite's episode, SERIOUSLY watch it.......I sincerely believe Zee has an absolute winner in its hand, if it does not interfere for TRP bhoot sake and let the makers tell their story..

There are too many parallel tracks going each interesting, but it does not overwhelm you.

When the promos came out, I caught a glimpse of Abhaas in the promo and thought oh dear good, he is going to hardly have anything to do, maybe he is married to one of the daughters, evil Son in law types..

NEVER would I have imagined that he would ultimately be the main lead in this show...

Yes the main characters are BA, Nandini and Meera but his character is going to be pivotal in the coming days..

I am absolutely loving how slowly we are seeing the different sides of Agasthya..

    Today,
The guy who maybe? idolises his chachaji, the indulgent brother and the family seeing the first glimpse of his protectiveness towards Meera...

We most probably are headed towards their marriage track, Just watch it everyone and pleaaseeeee let me know what you thought of it

  15. Speaking of Veera ... Veera is getting too spoilt, and she will end up ruining Ranvi's academics if she is not controlled ... the boy is too obsessed with his sister and gets distracted far too easily. Hope this is something they are going to sort out ... love for sibling is fine, but it shouldn't be carried so far that it overtakes everything else.

Also I wonder ... how far will a romance between Ratan and Nihal be acceptable to the Indian audience? Ratan has been a devoted wife, but five years is a very long time to wait for a husband who has disappeared without a trace. I think the legal time frame is seven years to declare a person missing, presumed dead ... but without proof of Sampooran's death, I don't think they will show Ratan being ready to move on, regardless of time. However, will the Indian audience be able to accept a woman moving on with a new man?

IF that happens, of course ... personally I doubt it will go there. Am sure Nihal's connection with Sampooran's death will be revealed and that will end the romance.

    1. Possibly.........unless Kartar's character may just prove to be the required catalyst to get Ratan and Nihal under one roof....

    2. Dia,
Watched a small bit of Veera, where Ranvi helps his mom with the accounts. He is pretty good with Maths? I thought Ranvi himself said once that Veera will be the ONE to fulfill their father's dreams...

      Ratan- Nihal:
That evil boy's mom has a thing for him? She was trying to impress him?

It is about the happenings in a vilage...so all this is part and parcel of the villge life- I guess there will be a scandal connecting the two, Nihal will come out with the truth, by then the kids would have grown up, Veera helps Ranvi and his mom reconcile with Nihal...These two are destined for each other, by the looks of it. What surprises me is how Nihal can keep quiet about the secret after the way Ranvi got into trouble looking for his father. He should at least give them a hint...so that she does not live in hope.

      Delete
    3. Diya I agree with you overdose of bhai behen ka pyaar is irritating me I hope ratan gives ranveer and his veera a much needed spanking. And yes nihal needs to speak up they are dragging this track a bit too far but I guess they are waiting IPL too end (IPL is soo over-rated another way to spend money sheesh itna hi hain toh why don't they sponsor hockey team which is suppose to be our national sport but no they want to spend money on random matches).
      NB

    4. NB,
I want to hug you...overrated is an understatement!
And Oh Yes! Three cheers for Hockey- but not if they are going to alter the game to suit their commercial senses!

Ah! Since IPL deprived me of QH and the last thought I had was of Veera- here goes the kahani...(OR kahani ka satyanash...Sorry.)

Evil boy's mamma has a thing for Nihal...gets jealous about Ratan..starts a scandal...Ratan mistakes Nihal, sends him away- he stays back in the village, because he feels the kids and the mother are his responsibility- Ranvi drops out of school to help his mom- Veera grows up and home schools him from time to time...Ratan- Nihal love story will not bloom now- may be once the kids are older and after their father's death has been handled-- something like how MB married off her mother.

The evil boy's sis- Does any one else feel she is destined to be Ranvi's heart throb?

    Yes Shwetha,
I have a lot of catching up to do, thanx to my busy vacation schedule. LOL.
I just discovered QH was 2nd on trp charts...can't believe it!

Dia, It is the romance that has got the audience pulled on...plus the drama...

QH will never be more interesting than this, I suppose...I am glad they got the 2nd spot with this Herculean effort. It will be tough to keep it up, though.

KHOOBSOORAT: I didn't get to watch it beyond the two epis I mentioned sometime back. Is any one watching it?
My cousin sis who occ watches gave me another tidbit on it- apparently, the FL fell for the ML's voice over the phone...reminder of Saajan..looks like it will be some time b4 she discovers the owner of the voice...

Loved the songs from Saajan, the concept too, the movie not soooo much...above average for me.(I don't like melodramas, unless they are true blue classics...I am into comedies more.)

Badaltey...: Shwetha, I kind of switched off the moment they pitted the girls against each other...I might start rewatching it when they get together...the bits I watched were awesome- Both the actresses rocked!
BV: All Jagiya fans should watch the show just NOW...looks like Shiv's sis is falling for Jagiya...Ganga (I hope i got the name right)actress is good. This show never cease to amaze me, yet fails to hook me on!

So let us see, BV Gal, Krititika Kamra, Ankita in Pavitra Rishta, now GC....You know what is common - the dignified manner in which all was handled..shows were either shut down or carried on with replacements or a season 2......Wish SP Had done the same for Sanz

  17. just finished watching Humsafar! :-) thanks for the recommendation shwethu...loved it!!! :)

as you suggested, didn't watch the complete show, watched just the ashar-khirad scenes...and read the story on wiki... and even for an incest phobic person like me, the tale was soooo touching and beautiful! :) have to say, the actors were brilliant!!! :D

most of all, I think humsafar is the perfect example of how a simple story can be taken to a completely superlative level by brilliant direction, editing, presentation and acting... hats off to the entire team!! I liked the fact that all the characters had layers to them...and neither of them was unidimensional... :))

I love mahira khan anyway (the actress playing khirad)..she was also in the pakistani movie bol...her dialogue delivery is just beyond this world and I enjoy watching her interviews.. she comes across atleast as a very, very composed and intelligent actress... :))

and I found slight similarity with arnav khushi, although the storyline and characterisation is completely different... but the point where ashar forgives khirad without even knowing the complete truth - just like arnav forgives khushi without knowing the complete truth... and that particular scene where they have shown his confusion and indecisiveness about his feelings for khirad was SO beautifully written and enacted -

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UX8GDUJwuMw

I liked the actor a lot...infact all the actors in the show! Even the character of Ashar's mother...she went very black in the end, but throughout remained a very faithful and loving wife to her husband... Didn't see much of Sara though...so one fine day plan to start watching the full epis...but lets see when! :P

planning to start watching zindagi gulzar hain now...but will wait till I get over ashar.. :P

sigh and after this going back to FK... :( well, what can I say, life is not fair at all! :P

QH: Aiyyoooooooo, that had to be the most thanda thanda Engagement ever, for once Surbhi was wayyyyyyy better than KSG yesterday....and are they going to do a Teri Meri again..the lighting the pose say toh yeh hi lagta hai.....Excellent I can stop watching it if they do that!!!

      Delete
    2. That is supposed to be a dream sequence...that is all you will get from Asad.

No teri meri when the hero is resisting...he needs to be hit on the head with a saucepan. Besides, QH does not repeat songs like that. The only song they repeated so far is Bol na halke (second time around, it was Zoya teasing Asad) and Zindagi ki yehi reet hai.

Teri Meri- If Gul does that she really needs to take a break. That song does not suit them at all. Right now, The only mushkil in the prem kahani is Asad himself.

  20. satyanash, did QH have to enact the entire first earring aka hair and then dupatta stuck on the sleeve thingy, Ohhhhhhh come on...

Random Q: Has Razia Bi ever used the word Farmabardar ever in the show before....Either Gul thinks We all see ZGH and hence would understand what that word means or assumes no one has heard of ZGH and would be impressed by her use of such a technical Urdu word...

And apart from the thanda engagement, We had Badi bi trying to kill..well temporarily atleast Razia Bi and Tanveer actually permanently killing the chicken....

And Asad miya succeeding in kililng any shred of romance that I put in so much effort to find between the two....QH kay sitaaray aka trp gardish may hai...atleast from my side....

Thank god for small mercies We never had any Rabba vey getting interrupted between Arhi...can you imagine Nani/Mami tapkofying between Arhi prediwali*shudders*

Thank you Gul, will give QH one more shot...

Badaltay rishtay is going nicely, after the initial bitterness, there is a bond of respect being formed between the Nandini and Meera, both are beginning to accept that both got fooled by Anirudh...

Shyama is a beautiful character and very nicely portrayed too, makes me wonder if her past will be the first one to get exposed and how everyone will react to it?

  21. Shwetha,
Aiyyyo...You are systematically murdering the only show I have watched consistently since IPK...kuchh toh rehem karo jahapanah!...kidding.

That hair - Duppatta seq- I was expecting some comment from you- it is their first Duppata moment, since Zoya never wears duppattas...I was like, and here comes THE duppatta moment... finally!

What is farmabardar? Explainiya pleej! She said that? Really...mera dhyan kahan rehta hai aajkal?

Watch out! He is a shredding machine! Every time poor Zoya thinks 'Finally this is it. I don't have to prove myelf any more'.. there goes her brainless jahanpanah. Of course, who else can he blame 4 the Global Warming!

The moment of terror for me: When that envelope came out! I went, 'What is this? A contract?' Thank God it was not. I think this is why I appreciate the show...my worst fears don't come true. :D

    OK.
If I look at the episode as a regular watcher, without you having tickled my funny bone...

Loved their attires. Hmm...Thanda Engagement to hona hi hai...Zoya is in poor spirits with Asad repeatedly refusing to acknowledge his feelings. She does not bear the burden of enacting a lie, since Dilshad herself has assessed the situation perfectly. She still feels guilty about lying about her aapi being sick(Mr. Idea Chor Ahmed Khan's ORIGINAL idea!). I feel bad for her actually. There is a sadness to her throughout the episode. Surbhi is fast becoming a fine actress...wonderful play of emotions on her face. There are many days when even KSG cannot make me take my eyes off her face.

The hair- duppatta moment: diff context from Arhi- There, it was a Khushi determined to fight it out...here it is a Zoya stepping carefully- she has his Ammi's blessings, but his consent and confession remains elusive. I do love this compare and contrast with IPK.

The most annoying thing about QH continues, like you pointed out: the romance, interrupted. People are fed up, complaining about it. It is considered the norm now.

Since you are brave enough to give it one more try, be forewarned. There is a dream sequence coming up- I hope it does not hit you out of the blue.

As for Asad Miyan having a change of heart and ways...do check out the bol na halke song if you are interested...he is silent through the first half, and starts mouthing the words only half way thru the song, when Zoya stops trying...they are not there yet.

Chalo....I am off on a lambi break. (How I wish KSG was doing a movie this time.. would be missing the kidnap and not the nikah.) I hope QH leaves you in one piece...rather, you leave QH in one piece...*wink*

I wonder if you all will be speaking Turkish by the time I get back! :D

    1. Su kaan pakdofying, didnt mean to do that, I AM actually trying to like the show, but dastaan is wayyyyyyyy ahead at the moment.

Farmabardar means Obedient (translated purely from Context from ZGH thanks to Sir Abrar and Zaroor convo)

Girl you are just not paying attention bey, you thought there will be a contract marriage when he went to the lab to get the report?

Agree with you on Surbhi, she has improved a lot since I have started watching, the thanda thing came from Asad...yeah yeah I know he is shy, in two minds yada yada...but that excitement, the stolen glances were just not there....The 2 times I have seen that from him....was when he asks her you want to get engaged to me and she blurts out YES, the slight smile and the second time when she tells him she is not leaving after watching mat jaao zoya..

After that he looks excited as Khushi was at the prospect of marrying Shyam.

There is a dream sequence, it better be from Zoya's side thinking what could have been, if it is from his side after he just ruthlessly shredded her, Asad is a bigger idiot than Maan ( I am sure Maan would have had the typical 4 lions hero becomes idiot when it absolutely matters trait, if he didnt, kindly take him out of the equation) and ASR combined.

You are going on a lambi chutti, when are you coming back, dont you know you are atleast supposed to give us a timeline of 11/14/21 days atleast??

      Enjoy your break re*Hugs*

And yes who knows we might actually be discussing Jayu's new show*wink*

      Delete
    2. Thanks, Shwetha. 11 days.Done with packing.

He looks as excited as a Khushi ....LOL.

He is in a different predicament...that drop of tear as he sees her all dressed up..He wishes it was true, but it is not to be.

Zoya's dream! No way! She has no business day dreaming after that chopping session. If it is revenge in her dreams, more like it!

This will be Asad's...Miyan does this all the time. He unleashes all his fury on poor Zoya...someone calmly explains what he alone is blind to- as it happened with the airport engagement...and then since he has the same problem saying the three words..'I am sorry' as well as 'ILU', well...all he can do is dream! :D

Yeh kaisa psychology hai, don't ask me. But Zoya is very lucky- he is eminently 'emotionally blackmail'-able with this trait of his.

She can have loads of fun with a penitent Asad...once he cannot run away and hide from her any more. Shaadi hone do! *wink*

He has a very bad first impression of Zoya and it is going to last a long time. And each time she does something to irk him, he is going to bring up the same lecture starting with tameez, tehzeeb and ending with rishton ki kadar. He is all too willing to believe the worst of her. Short tempered and blind and stubborn!

Badaltey: Ah! I agree. I fell in love with the show on a Saturday back2back. Even before that, the promos were quite catchy and I was looking forward to it. Will I be able to reconnect? May be after IPL gets over. That Balraj fellow really puts me off. Too dark and manipulative! I prefer the joker Shyams and Raziyas.

I mean Ammi keeps on asking you are happy with the marriage as Tannu keeps on pointing that you are not, I wonder instead of having a single FB of that lousy Special effects of taaraywala trip fall catch (Biased view - No ONE, i MEAN NO ONE managed TFC look so convincing as BS-SI did)....When will Asad Miya have this FB of tanu ki yaar ki issay kya problem hai?

She almost breaks Zoya's finger and pulls off the ring, twice She is reiterating that I am not happy with the marriage and She knows me the best, Duuuuuuuuuuuuuh, unlike my Exceptionally Brilliant Mom by TV standards who rightly picked the girl I want to marry, why is she so hell bent on insisting that I dont like Zoya, WT*?

    3. what tortured soul look? It was torturous to see him on screen and wonder how the heck did this guy ever got selected, that is until I saw FK in chanchan.

      Delete
    4. .. i mean, even his smile and laugh looked forced.. like he really was sad and did not want to laugh. yeah, i can see that people call it " being a terrible actor", but that guy rishabh looked like a tortured soul to me. so ayans feelings with asad rang true.

FK in chanchan.. the little bit that i saw, i did not mind.. and honestly, it takes a LOT to shine against sanaya. not even seasoned actors can do it.. so why build expectations?

      Delete
    5. jayu, the what little I saw of rishabh, the dialogue delivery *kaput*...He is a good dancer though, I liked him in the holi episode...but where he is supposedly torn cos of humaira and razia bee, I still dont know what RB was blackmailing him about, he wasn't great.

As for FK, I was one of those rare souls who actually liked him in the first few episodes and then it just went downhill...that guy is decent in flashes, but those are too few and far between....Wohi toh, I didnt expect him to shine at all, I had zero expectations from the guy, Did not expect any sort of sizzling romance but you compare him and himanshu and you can see how the himanshu guy outshines him everytime....atleast he can do better than himanshu right?

Anyway I am not for the guy getting fired, I frankly dont care if he stays or not, cos the actual story will start once the marriage happens, so waiting for that and hopefully it should pick up....

Waisay chanchan could have easily been like Mr. yogi...you know such an awesome family and they are searching for a groom for her, with a new actor every week as the prospective bride, that would have been fun, my SKD*SIGH*

      Delete
    6. i like that SKD..
hmm. everyone wants to get the marriage over with.. no one is even eager to meet cc the bride in readymade sarees :)

      Delete
    7. Rofl ... Ayaan the tortured soul vs the torturous actor ... have to go with Shweths on this one ... I found that actor singularly unimpressive, and was actually shocked that he landed a movie role! Toss up between him and FK as to who is the worse actor ...

As for shining against Sanaya, no one wanted FK to shine, but yaar, kuch to expression theek ho! His dialogue delivery is going from bad to worse rather than improving ... and his expressions have something missing ... on tv, the eyes have to be expressive, as the medium allows so many closeups, and that's where FK fails spectacularly. Even Mohit was far better ... and I am not much a fan of Mohit, the actor.

As for FK's love confession - it has to be one of the very worst on TV! It evoked widespread mirth ... which is not exactly the required reaction for an emotional ILU!

    4. i have no idea about sarees shwethu, any one that i like, no one wears.. any one that i hate, i see on all the tv stars. not mentioning the movie stars because that is a lost cause, but tv has such varied sarees.. 4L must be keeping the same stylist from IPK .. same weird sense of style and plagiarizing.

i have to admit i like megha's sarees in NBT, nandini in BRKDastaan, gumaan in SC. everything else is either too heavy or too risque. so i have stopped analysing sarees recently.. but actually, they knew that the saree would get acid on it, so i think they took the shockingest pink they could find and added a velvet border and called it a sari.. (stinks heavily of khushi's outfits..)
