More nautanki from Uma Ben ... and Manav finally bites the bullet and agrees to marry the girl of UB's choice ... not that she left him any choice in the matter ...
Before that ... CC still missing Manav ... and her crazy family belatedly realises they need to speak to Manav's family about the lovebirds. Not very belatedly, actually, considering it's still only been all of three days since they decided they liked each other. The love story has been rather rushed, that it's already reached marriage talks actually.
Uma Ben does all the nautanki she can ... much to her exasperation, all her worthy sons think about her dying wish is that it's related to property, business and the like ...
Manav finally talks to Chanchan, who gives him the go-ahead to do everything he can to make his mom happy ...and also tells him her family has given the nod for their rishta. Now its his turn. Little does she know the storm that's about to hit!
UB overhears the ChhanMan conversation and plays her last card ... gasping for breath, she demands her pound of flesh from Manav ... marriage to a girl of her choice ... Manav left with no choice, bites the bullet and says yes.

Dia, wishing you a speedy recovery and thank you for making these posts and having discussions despite a sore shoulder. Take care.
ReplyDeleteUma ben I believe at some deeper level feels that all she is doing is actually good for her son, family and samaj. However warped, she has this higher sense of moral responsibility, it not just a simple, selfish need to have her way all the time. Like she said today, it is a bitter medicine for Manav, but it will be best for him in the long run.
The episodes and drama are going in a very predictable way. I don't mind the rush from declaration of love to shaadi talks, this will be a saving grace for this show.
Did you read the TOI article, so now the PH and channel are at loggerheads regarding the ML! We have not progressed much in this matter, but at least we heard something new!
Sanaya looked pretty in pink :)

Uma,
DeleteI agree with you ... from Uma Ben's POV, she is doing the right thing. CC will be a very disruptive influence in the house for sure :))) And UB does not like anything disturbing her rule! CC is very different from the Borisagar inmates, as is her family ... she will have lots of trouble settling within the rules of the Borisagar clan ... Of course, we know CC will NOT settle within those rules ;) but in reality, I would have major doubts sending my daughter into a family like the Borisagars ... and Manav too will find it difficult to balance between his upbringing and the completely new ideas CC brings in. So UB is justified to some extent in her POV ...
Of course the way she is going about it, with her sneaky tactics, is all wrong. If she accepted the rishta, and then allowed the Sarabhais to see the way the Borisagar family functions, they might have second thoughts themselves!
I am wondering how the shaadi will happen at all ... with Manav throwing in the towel so easily.
Yep, read the TOI article, there is another copycat one on another site today. So obviously there is no smoke without fire ... the last round of articles had the producer denying that they were planning o replace FK, now the buzz is that the PH is willing, the channel is objecting ... let's hope the next articles is straightaway about the new Manav! Can do without these rumors in the interim! The only good thing is they are reassuring, to let us know that there IS serious thought to replacing him.
Ditto again .. loved that baby pink suit on Sanaya!
I forgot to add, I completely concur with you about what kind of show, I wish, Sanaya is in next and the kind of co-star she deserves. Yes, it will be a good addition to your shiddat posts:)
ReplyDeleteI hope too that Sanaya moves to shows which sensitively deal with more mature and complex relations between a man and a woman. Infact, after reading your post I was thinking of movies like "Ijjaazat" and "Masum". Such shows are almost negligible right now, but Sanaya can pull them off so well!
What the articles say is promising. With better story ideas, more BW producers and directors wanting to get involved in TV, things can only look up and someone like Sanaya, who is now among the top, is at the right place at the right time.

Hopefully producers will move to new and different shows ... the momentum does seem to be slowly building up, at long last. And there are some new and different shows coming in ... I was watching Dastaan, and it is interesting, it belongs to no specific genre like love story/saas-bahu ... it seems to have a definite story and well defined characters. I think when producers and channels accept the concept of either limited time frame or a return to bi/tri-weekly shows, the quality will improve automatically.
DeleteYes, exactly ... movies like Ijaazat, Masoom ... there was another one with Sharmila Tagore and Sanjeev Kumar on marital relations ... themes like that could be well adapted for a mature love story on TV. Don't know if you watched a show called Astitva - Ek Prem Kahani on Zee a few years back. It was about a younger man-older woman, and then followed their turbulent relationship over years till old age. I saw the first year or so ... excellent acting - Niki Aneja and Varun Badola, and a good storyline. The guy was a scoundrel, it was heroine-centered, had multiple parallel tracks, and showed fairly unique tracks, like adultery and a woman throwing her husband out for straying ...
I would love to see Sanaya in something like that ... I liked Maryada for some of the issues it brought up and handled very well, I would like to see Sanaya work with that director, he is excellent! The same guy is doing Veera now. Or Ravi Ojha ... after SGP, I think Dastaan is different and quite interesting as well. I think more than channel, Sanaya needs to zero in on the producers and directors she wants to work with next.
And if this change does happen, or start over the next couple of years, Sanaya is definitely in the right place at the right time. So fingers crossed!!!
Hi Dia. Just popped in again to wish you a very speedy recovery. My prays and blessings are with you.
ReplyDeleteI have been keeping up with the show via your posts and comments. Find it difficult to watch on line. Agree with you all about the ML. What I have seen of him he is really not a good actor and why he should have been cast opposite the brilliant acting skills of our very own sunshine girl, someone must really be in trouble. I think that is what puts me off watching. Hopefully he will be changed and replaced with someone who will match upto Sanaya, and make this show the success that it deserves.
I will carry on ready all comments with interest and pop in again.
Love to you all
Lin xx
Hey Lin ... good to see you! How is your new grandson doing?!
DeleteI know, we are all hoping and praying that the ML gets replaced with someone decent, and then the PH can pay more attention to the story-telling. That area also needs attention, but I think the ML is the more pressing concern! All we wanted was a good actor ... and that was the only thing we didn't get ... an ACTOR ... good or bad is a far cry!
Oh well, here's hoping for the best! Keep popping in ... good to see you!
Hi. Dia
ReplyDeleteHave been keeping up with CC via your posts. Watched a few episodes following the hue and cry about the ML . Sanaya is my main interest ...and as someone said in one of your posts earlier that she should be awarded an Oscar for acting with a statue.... She is phenomenal and the rest ...less said the better.
A lot is said about the ML and how he is a drag on the show . It was a mistake on the part of the PH to pair him up with such an accomplished actor and make him do confession scenes. Sanaya herself had said that she wanted to get away from romantic show because of her chemistry in the earlier show. What were the chances of a newbie that too who is yet to learn to act. TBH I don't think FK is the reason for a slow start. The show is not about him and can be tolerated.
If the show is about Sanaya and Supriya then the PH should hurry to start their story. I thought last week the SS confrontation was a good start but now this fake illness is a very lame follow up. Yesterday CC family teasing about her cooking was sweet but slowly that too turned into a sugary cliched ..learn to cook is equal to mother in law loving you.
My point being that the story and character build up lacks depth . I am not comparing it to IPK at all. If this show is a different saas bahu show then let's get to it fast coz till now aim not sure what it is about.
Mom is watching the show back in India and she happened to mention it to me in my last conversation. She finds Sanaya to be very beautiful. Her words - she is such a sweet girl but somehow she is not looking very fresh....My reply to her - Mom stop comparing her to Khushi and give her a chance to grow in this role.
I will follow my advice as well and give this show a chance. The makers - singing up Sanaya and Supriya was a jackpot , now you better deliver with a good script .
Take care
Ratna ( aka Premparbat )
Hey Ratna, nice to see you here! Yep, the PH needs to start the main story soon ... I guess it is apparent that they were rushed into starting the show before they were completely ready. Anyway, what's done is done ... they need to get their act together now. I do feel they are beginning to do so ... the problem is that expectations are very high and so far, have not been fulfilled.
DeleteI agree about the male lead, we all have had similar discussions here, and I feel if he is replaced by a good actor, at least one big problem will be sorted out. Then they can concentrate on the rest. As far as I'm concerned, good acting does make a big difference to my enjoyment of a show ... I only watch those shows where I like the actors, script and other factors come later. If the acting can't impress me, I can't watch the show. Right now I can ignore Farhan, because he's not the main character and never will be ... but if a decent actor takes his place, I will be much happier.
Hehe ... my mom is another fan of Sanaya too ... she loved IPK and is watching Chhanchhan only because of Sanaya. But she loved Arnav and BS a lot too, she found Khushi very idiotic very often, especially towards the end, so she actually likes Chhanchhan better.
Let's see ... am watching for Sanaya, so I'm in it till the end ...
hai devi maiyya, shiddat se maang rahi hoon: farhan ke aankh ke neeche kabhi paani nahi daalna! gosh that was turrible turrible. dint know whether to laugh or cry..
ReplyDeleteWhen he cries, you want to laugh ... when he laughs, you want to cry. Such is the power of farhan's non-acting :)))
DeleteHey bhagwan ... and Sony execs ;) please Manav ko badal do!
