Uma Ben furious with Hitesh's parents and forbids them to allow HP marriage. Apparently it's a question of her prestige.
Manav is a bit flummoxed as to why his mom said different things to Hitesh and his parents. Since he has good insight, he realises his teeny weeny brain cannot manage the situation ... besides, Chhanchhan is the hero of this show, not him ... so he dutifully calls her.
KRS-UB ... RS remind UB again about runaway bridegroom, and inform that he has now become joru ka ghulam and ghar jamai. First thing was to check with the girl. Shubhchintak lady should be ignored ... if she is truly shubhchintak, she will welcome the marriage ... if she doesn't, she isn't. Besides, elders are not always right all the time.

Himanshu fixes a meeting for UB to see Chhanchhan.
Manav-Hitesh ... again badly written ... did not understand why Manav suggested court marriage here. Suggestion should have come after UB threatened Hitesh's parents. Manav should have just counselled Hitesh to meet Purvi and get her answer. The question of marriage, where, how, when could come up only after Purvi said yes.
Manthan gives court papers to Babuji, who tells him to tell the date to UB. Manthan wants a lawyer, Babuji says no. This is a family matter, only UB will handle it. She saved the house, the business, everything.
CC-Purvi-Hitesh ... nice, and the actors are all decent, makes so much of difference! Purvi and Hitesh conveyed the hesitation, the awkwardness, the emotions, so well ... *sigh* when you see good acting from the side characters, really wish the male lead was better, would make so much of a difference!
So Hitesh and his parents got convinced seeing the newspaper ad of Purvi's classes, with the denouncement of dowry ... Hitesh mouths all CC's dialogues which she had given Manav, and CC realises that Manav's friend is the very same Hitesh ... ah good, one loop closed.
Manav totally smitten, staring at CC's pics ... UB comes in to fish ... and asks about his dream girl.
Farhan was bad in this entire scene ... he is totally erratic! ... speaking with his eyes closed and NO expression on his face!!! Really?! And his reactions when he hears that Hitesh is Purvi's ex-groom ... blank!!!
Manav shows some sign of brains by saving CC's number as Himanshu ... then loses his brains again and leaves the phone in the room for his mom to pick up. Another near-miss ... but of course. Anarkali saves the day by barking. Another lie for Manav ... Himanshu has a new dog in his neighbourhood.
Chhanchhan-Purvi ... Purvi scared, CC counsels her.
Isn't Purvi going to speak to her dad at all? One loop left dangling here.
And another mirror image scene as Purvi asks CC what kind of life partner she wants, and CC describes Manav ... Loved Sanaya's expressions here, soft-eyed, dreamy ...
Wednesday 1st May ...
When did they decide to meet in the cafe?
Cafe scene was cute though ... liked all three, Hitesh, Purvi, CC. Farhan was meh. Hitesh bhai is all ready and eager for honeymoon! Manav clueless like all men, CC has to drag him away so that Hitesh can grab a few moments with his blushing bride.

UB has fixed new rishta for Hitesh. Hitesh's parents are less than overjoyed ... not that UB is bothered.
Was glad to see that Hitesh's parents knew Hitesh had gone to meet Purvi ... would have been nice if Purvi had thrown in a dialogue about talking to her father too.
CC explains to Manav why she called him away ... CC still worrying about Purvi, Manav is too busy gazing at her with smitten looks to think about anything else.
SN - I think director told Farhan, look smitten, so he's trying to look smitten, with that silly grin on his face. Arey bhai, react to her dialogues also!
UB-Babuji discuss the upcoming case. Treachery within and by the family.

Hitesh reassures his parents ... they are still nervous. Hitesh sends them out of town till he is safely married.

Thursday 2nd May ...
Some cute ChhanMan scenes ... ChanMan go shopping for Purvi-Hitesh, and have a good time together while doing so, both enjoy the time with each other, and are getting closer and closer. Nice thing is they genuinely enjoy each others company (or would, if Farhan could emote better). Chhanchhan makes Manav into a mannequin, tells him girls can judge best what looks good on a guy, he returns the favor by choosing Purvi's saree and bangles and telling her guys can judge best the same for a girl ... acknowledged with a glint of mischief in her eyes and an expression that says 'touche!' The bangle scene was cute ...
And random salespeople remark on how good they are as a couple ...
Another near miss ... ChanMan go to book room at hotel for Hitesh-Purvi, same hotel where Uma Ben has meeting with Hitesh's new prospective in-laws ... a few near-misses there, not just one ... and another cute ChhanMan scene and some ChanMan moments as they check out the hotel room together.
Rather small for a 'special' hotel room!
Uma Ben claims that her children don't hide anything from her ... just as Manav with Chhanchhan a few paces away books the room ... nice touch of irony!!!
Chanchan family scenes ... Purvi checks out the shopping, Chanchan's family teases CC, much to her irritation ...
At court ... Uma Ben arrives to sign papers ... lawyer wonders why she doesn't leave these random running around jobs to her sons ... Uma Ben not pleased ... there is division of labour in their house and she takes care of the court work ... More wheels within wheels here ... does Uma Ben not trust even her own sons? Or is there something she is hiding from them?
Purvi and CC discuss karmic connections ... and CC remembers Manav ... is there a karmic connection between her and him, that they kept meeting again and again?
Uma Ben sees the court notice for the wedding. And she is all aag baboola ... her nemesis, CC, strikes again!

His eyes cannot emote the romantic expressions. Otherwise he is quite decent...but I'd call him just that.
Then again like Shwetha says, the script may not demand much of that.
Quite frankly, I am not even comparing him with Barun or KSG or even Mohit(I find him a better actor, since I watched Khamoshiyan quite interestedly.)...when compared to the lead from their previous show, SBS- the Tej fellow- the guy does not gel in easily with the rest...I find him a little stiff, on the whole.
May be he does not have a girlfriend. :D
Sanaya fans still want a bit of romance, even though this is a family drama. The little that they get falls flat because Farhan is not up to mark, causing disappointment.

J, agree with you..I find him okay too. IMHO, he has been improving consistently. If people keep on comparing him to Sanaya and Supriya, they'll always find him average.. I think he fits for the character of Maanav, because his eyes can manage to convey that innocence and his smile too.. at some parts I find his expressios too subtle to convey the feelings though and that is susprising considering that he was a theatre person where one is expected to NOT be subtle.. but anyway, if he is to be replaced at all, better do it now itself and not after IPL.. I dont think any of the good and senior actors will be happy in taking up such a women oriented show as they have no reason to showcase their acting prowess. So I doubt if they'll be able to get any senior actor to do the role of maanav, so prob will end up with another newbie.
DeleteI think Maanav will have quite a role to play apart from just being sandwiched between ma and biwi..already he has shown layers of not being a momma's boy and going against her wish...willing to change his beliefs etc.. I think he may also show a side to stand up for his sister's love story...so I think they should really think of someone good enough if they are going to replace maanav.. personally I think he'll improve.. he'll take some time, but he'll get there ...
yes, the story is about chanchan and her life and how she manages to live under the same roof as umaben, but maanav is an important part of her life since umaben is maanav's mother and I am waiting to see how they bring about the story wherein chanchan has those dual emotions of being in love with the guy and disliking his mother... sanaya will be awesome in those scenes!!! :))) Also, Maanav's love has to be really strong for Chanchan to agree to move in that house and also his convincing abilities to convince her parents that he'll indeed make her happy.. so I don't think maanav is a useless characters at all.. I think he is a very important one..because he will begin the story about chanchan and umaben. Also, he is amongst one of the rare combinations of intelligence and sweetness wrt male heroes on indian telly. The way he conveyed the problems to chanchan without letting her once doubt how deeply he might be involved in the whole scenario .. and his willingness to change quickly his beliefs in the way he asks her "toh kya bade bhi galat ho sakte hain?" .. having grown up in a house where his mother's word was the last one and nobody dared questioned its authenticity, this is a HUGE step...normally people coming from such houses are not willing to change their beliefs, so the makers have done a swell job by describing maanav's character like this and infact for that matter even Manasi's..
I think that its good the makers have extended this chanMan falling in love script a bit, for FK to improve until he reaches that boundry where he can deliver those scenes perfectly..

ReplyDeleteJiskay lambay lambay baal ho - What was he comparing his own hair with her hair.....Does the dialogue writer watch his own show....I particularly dont care if FK is gonna stay or quit, cos when he is with other seasoned artistes, I find myself looking at them be it Supriyaji or Sanaya or Himanshu...So it does not matter to me...but if the producers ARE looking for a replacement, then the youngest bro from Ek doosray say the previous 7.30 Show on SP would be ideal...He looks sweet and smart enough, CAN Act and would look really great with San....He already has done the caught between biwi and maa thingy and was pretty good at it....I am sure he would jump at the chance if he is offered....*Godjee, not looking at firing someone, I am okay with FK, Frankly couldnt care less, but if they are going to replace him, just making a suggestion*
I am liking the show and am looking forward to CC vs UB ....CC with Manavs family..

ReplyDeleteManaged to catch CC today, and caught up with yesterday's episode too ... Farhan was BAD!!! I thought he was improving, but he is not! I hope they're hurrying up the pace to get them married fast, so the real story between UB and CC can start, otherwise Farhan is going to chase away viewers!!! What are the makers doing?! Just see the difference in expressions between him and Sanaya when they both describe their ideal mate ... he was SOOOO bad!!! Sanaya was all dreamy eyed ... and he had his eyes shut!!! *head desk* I was looking at UB throughout that scene ... her expressions were far more interesting!
Doesn't help that the love scenes are very badly written ... and why do the cvs insist on showing the mirror scenes of ChanMan on the same day?
I love Sanaya's outfits in this show ... loved that top with the jazzy heavy necklace and the long skirt.
And the UB-Babuji story about the family problems, including the court case is getting interesting. Want to see more of that once CC gets married and comes into the family.

TeamSarun's interview of Sanaya is quite telling of lack comfort and chemistry between FK and Sanaya. Maybe I am reading too much between lines, but I felt Sanaya too wishes for more a more competent co-actor. She is also looking for this romance bit to get over, so she can work more with Supriya :)

I am guessing FK started on the wrong foot with her and pretty much the fans too - boasting of acting skills, his family connection and well....not only sanz i think even the himanshu guy said something about that...so maybe FK is slightly bit more humble now but he has to work 100 times harder wrt his work as well as getting the acceptance from his coactors...

I watched the interview, and another one where she reads out fan messages ... have to say, I was slightly surprised at how forthright she was, she is always honest but manages to keep things light and non-controversial ... This time she was pretty direct. She seems quite fed up actually. And she seems to be waiting for the marriage to take place so that the real story can start, which includes more time with Uma Ben. She never signed up for a love story, and she had no intention of doing a love story ... unfortunately she is stuck with doing love scenes with an actor with whom she is not even comfortable as yet.
DeleteEven in IPK, she and Barun were not comfortable in the beginning, they both said they felt awkward ... I remember there was an SBS durng the first earring stuck in Arnav's coat scene when they both said this, and also said that they laughed and joked their way through the scene ... the big difference is that both were good enough actors and both got along well enough off screen to carry off the close scenes, and not let any awkwardness show at all. Here she doesn't seem to get along that well with Farhan ... he seems to be aloof from the rest of the cast, plus of course his boasting at the beginning put everyone off ...
I also feel that there probably was not going to be much of a love story at all ... the previous show started with Tej and Toasty already in love and going steady ... but maybe here because they rushed into starting the show early before IPL, and because Farhan was such a complete newbie, they decided to postpone the marriage drama till after IPL. So they put in the love story as a filler ... which is a bigger disaster, because the guy cannot act! I just hope that promo of his saying "I love you" is a dream ... he is so AWFUL in that!!! No wonder CC is looking so shocked!

I know!!! The episode as a whole wasn't bad at all ... I liked it. For once, the Uma Ben scenes seemed more amateurishly written and acted, the couple with her were both bad actors, so was the hotel manager. The ChhanMan scenes were much better ... till the precap ROFL!!!

Sanaya is a pleasure to listen to every single time! The only time I couldn't bear to watch her was the last SBS of IPK when she was crying ... that really pierced me.

DeleteI am wondering if that ill be the main story ... Babuji is at loggerheads with his older brother, is UB egging him on to keep the feud alive or something? Now even I am waiting for the marriage to get done and the real story to start. UB has some skeletons in her closet for sure, and the funny thing is that she and her husband don't seem to trust their own sons in the matter.

ReplyDeleteOn a different note,The Indian Telly Awards are tomorrow,so I was reading about them. The only thing I knew till now is that Arnav and Khushi got best Jodi award last year and I saw Sanaya's performance on Youtube.
So, Barun and Sanaya were both not nominated last year for acting awards. He was nominated in "TV Personality of the Year, male" category. That went to Ronit Roy.
Then, they are so many categories, three for just lead actresses, in addition to various others like best actress in comedy, negative role etc. Last year 3 out the 5 actresses nominated in the best actress in a lead role category got a trophy- one in popular section, one in jury and the third one for "Best TV Personality of The Year, female".
So, I am hoping against hope that Sanaya bags the popular award this year...there is no denying Khushi was popular. Jury and others I know will go to someone else.
Don't know about nominations for TV personality of the year or Jodi this time.
Keeping my fingers crossed, I am just so happy about the media attention she is getting...
Hope she is performing too.

DeleteDidn't Barun get some individual award last year? I thought he did ... only the Jodi award? I think SaRun swept each and every jodi award there was last year ... and after them no other jodi has come anywhere CLOSE to generating the same frenzy.
Same here ... I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Sanaya gets an individual award this time ... she deserves the most popular actress for sure ... Khushi is a household name in India now! And she literally ran that show on her shoulders solo the last couple of months!
I hope she's performing too. Will look forward to that. On what channel are the awards airing? I think the date is 25th May.
Last year someone on IPK forum attended the awards and gave live updates ... wonder if we can find updates anywhere today. The news will be out soon enough, I guess ... till then, fingers crossed!

DeleteThey are posting updates on ITA sticky thread on Chhan Chhan forum. They have not yet come Best Actress category.
Barun did get individual trophies, but at not at ITA. He got People's Choice award, that explains his article in People magazine.

DeleteSandhya of DABH got it ... so am less disappointed, if this was a Popular award, then it was obviously pre-decided, because Khushi and Madhubala are much more popular with the voting audience for sure. They just went with TRP's ...
Am okay with Bhabho's award, because that lady CAN act, annoying though her character is, but that Sandhya has one fixed expression on her face the whole time! She definitely doesn't deserve Best Actress... there are far better actresses than her on TV.
i followed the whole live update and was disappointed. True Dia, they went with the TRP, Mehhhhhhh....grrrrrrrrrrrr....
DeleteShweths, I know, I was so annoyed ...grrrrrrr!!!! According to me,Sandhya is the LEAST deserving ... that woman put me OFF watching DABH because I found her so pathetic. I don't much care for Drashti as Madhubala either, but she is popular, no doubt ... so is Krathika of PV, I like her acting, I liked her as Jhansi ki Rani also. But Sanaya swept all the online polls, the site I was following for updates also said the same thing, even they were surprised ... this was a POPULAR award, for chrissakes! There is no way Sandhya could have won based on online voting. Bhabho is more popular than Sandhya!!! They went solely by TRPs for this one ... maybe they wanted to avoid fighting between Drashti and Sanaya fans :))) Can accept Kunal Karan Kapoor, the guy is very good in NBT, even though the show doesn't get great TRP's. But then it's on Colors ... grrrrr!

Same here Dia. For some reason I thought Sanaya will get the popular award, I can't believe Sandhya got more votes then Khushi. Remember SPL in London, where Khushi was mobbed...
DeleteSad part is even Star plus did not give one individual award to Khushi, whereas they gave two to Sandhya. This year, they will not nominate IPK.
I really wanted to Sanaya get one individual award for a role which made her a household name. Now, the chances are close to nil :(
If TRPs are the criteria, I have no expectations that Sanaya will get any award in coming years either, until a miracle happens and Chhan Chhan tops the chart.
I saw this wonderful VM on Khushi, the unsung hero, posting it here ad my small recognition for her. The vm maker did a really good job.

DeleteTruly, Khushi was the unsung hero of IPKKND ... SP used her fame and her popularity, and never gave her any reward for it. And that girl just worked her butt off for them ... I will never forget the ending of IPK ... she had to can her shots with Viraf, which were never used, do her rehearsals for the SPL show, rush to UK where she had 3 songs, plus the meet and greet where she and Barun were literally mobbed, the other actors were almost ignored ... then she gets the news of her show shutting down and rushes back to re-film scenes for the ending!
And when she got upset about the ending of the show and voiced her upset, people got angry with her, as to how dare she criticize fans for ending the show! That got me the most wild, actually ... the bashing she got when she was upset about losing her job, her role and one of the best teams she had ever worked with!!! People can be so vicious and heartless! Horrible!!!

DeleteChhanchhan is very watchable now ... I had my doubts the first couple of weeks, but it has definitely improved and settled down. Can't wait for the marriage to happen, the real story will start only after that! Yeh IPL kab khatam hoga!!!
