So Umaben was not crying wolf this time ... and she was really at death's door, or thereabouts ... and of course Chhanchhan was the savior in getting her to hospital in time, then bullying the doctor to come in on time ... and Umaben gets to know of all this in double quick time ... as does the rest of the family ... who for once in a TV serial, hear exactly what they were supposed to hear ... the story of the wonder girl who saved their mother.
And Umaben promptly reverses her decision and says Chhanchhan will be her youngest bahu ... that was a fast tunraround!!!
Of course Umaben realised after Manav's tantrum that he wasn't going to give up Chhanchhan that easily, once he found out about her drama ... first battle lost, time to acknowledge defeat, retreat and regroup. And Chhanchhan helped out matters by not letting Manav tell the family about Umaben's deception, so UB could pretend CC was really her choice in the first place.
Manthan is an interesting character ... total Narad muni!!!
Liked the Sarabhai family again ... small scene, but sweet ... father still most unhappy about the state of affairs ... Chhanchhan all cheerful that she will win over Umaben in time ... (besides, if she doesn't, she won't marry Manav ... so either way, she's okay, smart girl! That was my addition, of course!)
Farhan was totally BLANK all through the episode ... exactly one expression the entire time ... except when he smiled to hear Umaben's acceptance. The contrast between his expressions and Manthan's was amazing ... the guy playing Manthan is a great actor!
Have a feeling Kaumudi loves being the martyr.
Oh, and Manav is not dikra any more ... he is now bhondu ... and will soon be joru ka ghulam :)

*gloatwa vey* I first saw the actor playing Manthan in SP 7.30 Show, his character was the sweet patient typical side supporting hubby role, till one day the character erupts........He blew me away yaar...he is very very good.

DeleteWhile watching that scene with Uma ben, I was thinking, Manav should have shown some of those expressions which Manthan showed ... that incredulity, puzzlement, then that speculative look ki what is my mom up to ... after all, Manav knew his mom had been doing drama, but Manthan didn't ... unfortunately FK cannot show any of those emotions. so it was left to Manthan.
I think after marriage, and a few hiccups, Manthan and CC will team up ... she has a bhondu hubby and he has a bhondu biwi ... and both of them are smarter and sharper than their respective spouses. While CC is smart but all sugary-sweet, Manthan is smart and tedha ... they will make a great team and will be fun to watch if they take on Umaben.
I thought Manthan was the most unpredictable character- Narad, like you suggested, Dia. I am not sure if he is the helpful kind. He loves making trouble. I doubt he will help out CC. All that time he wants to spend with Baa- he has some thing up his sleeve. And it does not include the welfare of his siblings.

Oh, I don't think he will help CC at first ... quite the reverse. I think he will be trouble-maker ... the rest of the family doesn't know that CC-Manav are in love, they think CC is UB's choice ... so I think first of all he will expose that. And UB will now be helping him carefully, under the guise of being all gung ho over Chhanchhan.
DeleteLet's see how it goes ... should be interesting. For once we have a saas who pretends to be all sweetness and light, while being the reverse inside, that should be entertaining. Especially if they do manage to keep it light, and not go all evil and wicked.
Finally caught up with the episode. Phew! are they in a hurry to get to marriage, understandably, as their entire story was to start after grahpravesh. As far as I am concerned, about time too, as they have dangled that carrot for too long. I sincerely hope, they have a story after marriage, as till now most of it looked like a patch up job. They really got this entire before marriage sequence wrong in terms of script and FK did not help matters and nor is he likely to in future.
ReplyDeleteManthan is turning out to be interesting and the actor is good. I am still not quite happy with the characterization of Chhanchhan, the whole pushing down our throat that she is a saviour and nobody can be better is nit sitting well with me. This has been my gripe from the beginning. Let Chhanchhan do and leave the interpretation to the viewer. They better be careful about it as it could get a bit irritating... you are going for realistic, then show her that way with warts and all, no one is perfect.
Wow! quite a lot of drama off screen too...wonder if constant jibes from Srman means a new ML on the way. I wonder if falling TRPs and negative feedback matters to PH or channel or wheather it is too late for a new ML to make a difference. The only one I care for here is Sanaya, who is likely likely to lose some goodwill from her viewers, despite putting in her best efforts. Sorry Dia, every time I see FK's interview segments, I get annoyed though I fully concede even the creatives have lost the plot here. The show did not lose audience just because of IPL, a show cannot be meandering for two months and then expect to recover!
Sanaya is looking so HOT in the pictures of ITA Awards and JDJ, something to cheer us up. I like these surprises she keeps giving us, suddenly there is a promo and she is there. Dia, did you read the article where Sanaya blew away Madhuri and others contestants with a single performance !
Finally, I agree with everyone here that the media should stop clubbing Barun segments with Sanaya. She is her own person and was successful before him and hopefully will continue to be, even if Chhanchhan does not work out ( there will be a takeaway from this show for Sanaya). It will also prevent this unnecessary fan wars.
So, there will be some pre wedding drama next week and then IPL ends and Chhanchhan will be in her sasural!

DeleteI agree, this PH is not known for its love stories, and adding a disaster like Farhan to the equation, made them go totally haywire. I think the real story is already starting, with the games between Chhanchhan and Umaben ... now that UB has agreed to the marriage, but her true colors will start emerging as she tries to stop the marriage.
Shows do usually take 2-3 months to settle down ... the problem is, they start picking up slowly over the first few weeks. Chhanchhan got a great start because of Sanaya ... and then has been slowly spiralling downwards. A lot to do with the meandering storyline, and a LOT to do with the bad male lead ...
In most saas-bahu sagas, the guy doesn't have much to do, so if he can't act, it doesn't really matter. The problem is that here, Manav DID have a lot to do ... there was a mini love story, his character was well-etched out especially the last week ... and he fell totally flat. The scene where he asks CC to marry him, she says no ... then he tries to persuade her and she says yes ... there was NO CHANGE in his expression when she said yes!!! And that's just one example ...
In fact he seems to be getting worse, if anything ... that, coupled with Srman's very obvious jibes and the reappearance of the rumors, is making me optimistic again ... surely the PH and channel cannot ignore the dropping TRP's when they know this shows had so much goodwill to start with! If they do, then all it means is that either, they are confident with the post-marriage story (maybe over-confident) or they don't much care ... but if the rumors are true that Sony is stopping the replacement, then I don't know what's going on. Obviously they are keeping a tab on the show and its buzz, Sony does not much care about TRPs. Can only hope ...
Let's see ... like you said, Sanaya will not lose anything if CC doesn't work out ... she is getting huge amounts of positive press ... even if the Newsroom article on Sanaya impressing the JDJ participants and Madhuri is exaggerated, the fact remains that no one is pointing fingers at her work - the cv's, the channel, the direction, bg music, screenplay, male lead ... everything is under fire, except for Sanaya and Supriya.

And she is getting courted by every channel ... that is also very true.
Sanaya is the only TV guest on the JDJ premier, I think ... the rest are all BW stars ... I count Sushant as a BW actor now. So Colors wanted her badly enough to bring her in for a special performance :)))
Will put up the link of Sanaya's performance at ITA ... she was HOT ... something very different from anything she has done before! This was overtly sexy and dramatic ... something like her last year's performance, but a totally different mood ... exotic, sultry, sexy ... yet not vulgar in the least. Fantastic!
Let's see what happens next week ... the marriage is coming up, this would be a GREAT time to bring in a new improved Manav and re-promote the show with him and the wedding ... it would create the excitement and buzz all over again and that might bring back the lost viewers.
If not, the only thing I can say is, that hopefully now that UB has agreed to the marriage, Manav can be sidelined. Chhanchhan gets married, goes to her sasuraal, and the real story starts.
And I agree ... hope they make her less than perfect ... or rather, hope they stop shoving it down our throats. That's what all TV serial heroines are like ... PERFECT ... would like CC to be a bit more real. I liked when she was nervous and unsure with Daadi, I do want to see more like that once she is in her sasuraal.

DeleteI loved her ITA performance must say she kinda improved but still she needs to work on her hand movements like in her JDJ dance I so wish she participated little bit of training could do wonders in her case. Can I pray that she enters as a wild card entry lol.

Agree with both of you ... Sanaya needs to work on her hand movements ... she is an untrained dancer, except for whatever work she has done in her shows and award performances, another reason it would be good for her to do a show like JDJ, where she gets to work for a long stretch of time with a professional choreographer, and really polish up her basics. Her toes also I agree ... she always points them very well, that adds a lot to how graceful she looks.
DeleteAgain the purist in me speaking ... Madhuri and Aishwarya are a notch above most of the other actresses because they have classical training ... it makes a huge difference.
IF Sanaya got a fraction of that training, it would do her a lot of good ... she has a fantastic body, very lithe and supple. Notice the Teri Meri dance ... there is a step where Arnav holds her ONLY by the neck, her entire body is straight and she touches the floor only with her toes ... that is a HELLUVA difficult pose to hold. I do a similar pose in yoga and I can barely hold it for a second or two.
Channels are courting her, media is promoting her ... all the press is positive about Sanaya and Chhanchhan ... hmm, makes me feel that other channels also feel that Chanchan might be a short-lived show and they are keen to get her on board after it ends. Except for SP, all channels seem to believe that having popular faces on their shows is a big plus, and they bring popular actors quickly on board.
SP has not nominated Arnav Khushi for best jodi, and apparently Barun said he was not invited for SPA this year as he is no longer with Star. Doubt Sanaya will be invited either, for the same reason ... unless of course, SP wants to keep good relations with her, but since they are ignoring IPK in the nominations, the only way they could get her on board is to make her host a segment ... and if it is being held abroad, it would be difficult for Sanaya to do that. Don't think they will ... SPA is a Star Plus only event, even Life OK stars are not invited, though they belong to the sister channel. Star One actors were never brought on SP events either.

ReplyDeleteDid not see the ITA performance yet but just saw her in the JDJ promo and was blown away. It's like she lights up the screen and I can challenge anyone who disputes that she is the most talented and glamorous tv celebrity we have today.
Really loved her dress as well. I have still to decide which color looks best on her . For now it is black but then there is yellow, white , red .......
Will lookout for her upcoming appearance on JDJ on the 1st I believe.

Completely agree with you ... she has this star aura about her ... very rare in TV actors, who are usually chosen for their homely, girl next door type of looks. Which is probably why she took so long to make it big on TV in the first place, her looks are more suited for BW. A complete screen stealer ...
ROFL ... color confusion ... :))) Black makes her look ultra-glamorous and sexy, in white she looks pure and young, she glows in yellow ... ok, I have the same confusion!!! The only two colors I DON'T like her in ... both from MJHT days where she wore a lot of pastels ... peach-orange, it makes her complexion look washed out, and mauve-pink, saw her in one suit in that color, and I didn't like it at all.

ReplyDeleteSangeet ceremony happening everyone enjoying one bhabhi dancing on fevicol song and then manav's family dancing on ek kuwara all happy shappy. Fk looks awkward both onscreen and offscreen not to mention an idiot too with I am creepy and I know it expression. During a sequence they showed CC and manav sitting together watching family dancing and I seeing them together I thought they are forced to get married no chemistry at all. Sanaya, srman and their onscreen dad doing some chicora dance step on fevicol song offscreen as sanaya had no dance sequence onscreen poor girl she so wanted to dance :( and lastly san and srman interview where they requested sbs to ask ph for a bro-sis dance as they both wanted to do one lol. In some shots sanaya looked soo lost :(

I just saw the SBS too ... what is wrong with that Farhan??? He's sitting so stiffly ... the entire cast is having fun, dancing and doing masti .... and this guy is sitting with this fake half smile plastered on his face! Did he forget he's playing Manav ... and that Manav is supposed to be HAPPY with this wedding?!

The entire cast is enjoying themselves ... it seems very clear that he is the odd one out ... whether that is because of his own attitude, or the rumors circulating and making him uneasy, or the fact that he knows he is under trial ... God knows!
Dia just saw the SBS and SBB segments and it had completely opposite effect on me then what the makers want to elicit. It was such a downer! I have NO excitement to see this naach gaana at all.
DeleteI never thought I will say this but I want this show to end in one year, and want Sanaya to be in something more substantial next year. This show is just not worth her hard work or talent.
It feels like a rip off bad 80s and 90s movies, which I hate. The camera work, the feel, the script all are so dated. Come on the oldest trick in the book to stop a marriage, morphed pictures of the girl!! The creatives could not think better then this? Hope this is not the big twist!!
Of course, FK is here to stay, another reason I don't want this show to go on over a year!!

DeleteI saw one post with engagement pics and there was no Farhan in any of them - the entire cast was there, with both the families. I got all excited ... and then BOOM, we got the SBS and SBB with FK very much there!!! All the excitement down the drain!
The PH and channels are IDIOTS ... so much negative press on this guy and they are just not doing anything!!! This would have been the ideal time to switch heroes with the wedding coming ... the entire excitement of the wedding would have been something else!!!
Let's see ... the excitement is definitely down ... but let's see how it goes. No expectations at all now ... maybe that's the best way to go. At the rate it's going, I also doubt it will last longer than a year ... hope Sanaya picks up something really good for her next outing. This will really be her first unsuccessful outing ... that's why I'm still hoping for her sake that it works out, at least does reasonably okay, if not brilliantly.
Besides, DABH is even worse ... such a regressive show, set in the Dark Ages, the actors are far worse than Sanaya and Supriya ... and it gets viewers ... maybe dated saas-bahu crap does get viewers. Let the main track start and let's see then.
