The usual gratuitous subtle insults offered by the boy's mother to the girl's parents on arrival ... I would be more offended with Umaben if this sort of thing wasn't universal in almost all movies and shows ... and even more, in real life as well. Was good to see Chhanchhan register every subtle barb aimed at her parents ... hope she will do something about it. Today Daadi defused the situation ... tomorrow when the barbs become less subtle, what will Chhanchhan do?
Lots of song and dance ... well, it was a sangeet after all.
The entire family on both sides performed ... are the cv's going to revive the Mansi-Rugved story as counterpoint to the ChanMan one?
And of course, Bharti dances with Manav ... FK looked most uncomfortable throughout - was his sherwani too tight, or was the man himself too uptight?
Manav's father seems most normal ... as did the brothers ... if it weren't for that one big roadblock, Umaben, I would be happy for Chhanchhan to enter the family ... they all seems rather nice, normal people - one big happy family, in fact. Except that Manthan is definitely not happy in his marriage.
SN - Of course, this is ignoring the awful Manav ... I am trying to imagine another actor in his place, so that I can believe in the ChanMan love story.
And speaking of Manav ... I really wish the cv's would give up on that kiss challenge - in the hands of a good actor, it would be cute and naughty ... with FK's expressions it seems lewd and lecherous!!!He looks and sounds like a roadside gunda ogling a passing girl, rather than a man in love teasing the girl he's going to marry.
Umaben's stooge arrives ... most unsubtle ... Umaben's plans are really not the smartest or the most unusual ... her own son, Manthan, already suspicious of his mother's unnatural enthusiasm, is on the lookout for suspicious happenings ... and finds them in black clad James Bond impersonator.
So the episode was all song and dance ... and as per the precap, Monday the dhamaka will happen.

ReplyDeleteToday there is not much to discuss for me about the episode, it was one gala event. Everyone, except one notable exception, were in character despite the festivities. No complain there. My problem today was more with editing, one could clearly make out the dances and dialogues in between were shot separately. The flow and continuity was missing. Again they are in a tearing hurry to finish the marriage.
This whole week felt like the show is trying to start afresh. They tried to use all the tried and tested tools of Indian serials to entice viewers. Next week we will see if it worked.
Sorry Dia, did not mean to be a Debbie downer here. Didn't mean to bring down the mood with the review report. Ironically, it was in the same issue of the magazine where Sanaya's picture is there among the beautiful women of India.
So, thank you Su for lifting spirits. I signed up for this show to see Sanaya act, Supriyaji is a great bonus. I want to see Chhanchhan's journey and how she negotiates the Borasagar maze.
No matter how the show fares, two things are most likely to happen for Sanaya, she will leave a good impression of her professionalism and hard work with the PH and channel, and second, the industry will be aware that she is ready to experiment and not be restricted to passionate love stories.
It will take one solid role and in a good show to regain any lost popularity and versatility she has proven.

ReplyDeleteSan is the girl who shouldered IPK in Barun's absence, agreed to take it up again when Barun decided to leave, got bashed by some real life idiots and continued to support both her producer and her co-star when things went horribly wrong. Nothing can keep her down, that's for sure.
Coming to the show, I really enjoyed yesterday's episode. The very fact that they brought in Bharti- they are giving it their best shot, in spite of the weak link they cannot shake off.
Sigh...Seriously, sometimes I just put my hand up and block out FK, because he ruins Sanaya's scenes...I am not joking. It doesn't help much, but I end up laughing at the insanity of my action! (Shouldn't make that a habit, lest I repeat it in front of hubby to confirm what he has been suspecting 4 quite some time now. :D)
Ha Ha..Bharti said the dulha looked like a halwayi. If only she knew, even the halwayi acts better than him.
UB: As subtle as ever, and confident too. Does this mean we have to watch more of the love ishtory? (Please spare us, UB)
Kind of liked the whole Sangeet - there is a wedding happening on every channel right now, and this one was the most realistic. San looked good(though I prefer her IPK getup as Dulhan), I am getting used to seeing her in curls. This show really deserves to pick up.
Su, adding my thanks for the pep talk ... after seeing the Telegraph interview today, am feeling even better ... am guessing Sanaya said what she did in the interview, as an indicator of things to come on the show. And if even some of those happen, then I do think it will pick up after the wedding. What's more, I look forward to seeing these tings happen - a bahu NOT shedding copious tears, working after marriage, holding her own with her saas, rather than bending and giving way and crying over everything.

Yesterday was enjoyable and light ... one long sangeet. Bharti said the dulha looked like a halwai ... I don't know whether she was poking fun at Suraj, or at Farhan :))) He looks more like a physical trainer than a halwayi, to be honest ... his athlete's build.
Have to say, his outfit was nice, and he looked good in it, he had the right build and height to carry it off ... but I honestly felt it was too tight or something, he could barely lift his arms in the dance with Bharti. Wonder whether that was bad choreography, or his own limitation ... Manav is supposed to be this happy go lucky chap, I would have thought it would be more in character for such a guy to break into a dance with Bharati, rather than act like a shrinking violet!
Replacement news pouring in AGAIN, Sanaya's JDJ dance, more good press for Sanaya will round off this week well!!

DeleteChughalkor Aunty sounded quite sure this time ... said she had already said earlier that Manav would be replaced after IPL, and now it's heard that the PH is on the hunt/ in the process of finalising. She mentioned Harshad Chopra, but said he turned down the role - however HC in an SBS segment just a couple of days ago, said he had not been offered ...
She went on to mention Anuj Sachdev and said things are almost finalised, it's a matter of sorting out dates ... but we have to wait and see will it be Anuj or someone else.
Hoping again ... let's hope we get good news after the engagement breaks, and the new Manav comes in just in time for the re-engagement :)))
Yes Dia, that will surely boost the interest level in this show again, hopefully the story, execution and a decent actor(fingers crossed on this one) will all come together at the same time.

Uma, dunno why she mentioned HC ... I happened to catch the HC SBS segment a couple of days earlier, and HE mentioned CC out of the blue, when the reporter asked him when he was coming back ... in fact, I was wondering why he mentioned CC at all. So I guess he WAS among the contenders ... maybe things did not work out, some actors feel it's better to say they were not offered, others say they were offered and turned it down.
DeleteLike Mohit said he was offered Angad Hasija's role on some show and he turned it down, while the producer said Mohit was never offered in the first place.
I did see that Harshad segment myself, and these tv journos make up stories when they don't have facts ... so don't know what to believe. Truth is probably somewhere in the middle :)))
Yep, Sanaya did give things away a bit ... more than that, Srman going on about a new Manav got my attention. Srman has worked with this PH before and they are a close knit team - might be more in the know than even Sanaya, and being thick with the PH, means he can get away with saying more :))) The fact that on SBS/SBB, he has constantly been making fun of FK itself says a lot ... I just hope the problem between the channel and PH has been sorted out and they are both now on the same page regarding the need to replace Farhan. The reactions to the proposed kiss should have given them their answer - that FK has not been accepted by the majority after over two months. If he was really improving, there should have been at least a marginal increase in the number of his own fans, as opposed to only Sanaya fans supporting him, and there should have been more argument about whether he needs to stay or go.
Anuj Sachdev is okay ... not brilliant, but will be adequate. I saw him in a few scenes in Phir Subah Hogi, he was acting with Varun Badola, who in my opinion is one of the BEST TV actors ... and his costar was a very good actress too. He held his own - I don't remember ever feeling, this guy can't act with these other two.
At any rate, he is better than FK for sure.

So what happened after the show of morphed pictures? If I remember correctly, the guy breaks down and admits his guilt there and then at the party - that was in one of the segments. If he admits he did this, then why the engagement break?
Let's see - next week will be interesting.
Also good to see that after the slew of promos for Maharana Pratap, Sony is back to airing CC promos again - this is the second one after IPL ended and MP launched.
The promo looks promising, I really want to see Chhanchhan call off the wedding on her own terms. Next week looks intetesting.

Oh and for both ... a good PH, which doesn't abandon one baby when the next one is conceived.

DeleteOK, another thought...like Abhaas is quitting because his character did not shape up like he was promised...do you think Sanaya could do the same...what I know of her she will stick to this project till the end, hoping for the best and giving her all. Though I really hope she tells them her apprehensions.
The show will shut if she leaves, I don't think she will put the production house in that predicament. So basically, I answered my question... ;))

She will not leave ... Khushi became such a big goof up, and yet Sanaya stayed loyal to the show and was prepared to stay on after Barun left, though she knew she would face the brunt of the blame for low TRPs. She will give this her best, and honestly I think if she leaves, the show won't last a day.
DeleteI hope she does tell them her apprehensions ... not just the male lead, I think that is clear to everyone, but the execution etc too. I know she and Arjun Bijlani were quite vocal about voicing their opinions about MJHT tracks at one point when they were going haywire, don't know if she ever did the same in IPK.
Another thing, Uma ... I was thinking ... with the engagement break, CC will realise sooner or later that UB is still opposed to the marriage, once she finds out who hired that guy. She said she will marry Manav only with his mom's blessing. So how will the wedding take place?
Unless she only finds out that the guy was hired, but not the truth about who hired him. And of course UB will leave no stone unturned to make sure CC doesn't find out the truth, otherwise Manav will walk out yet again.

Actually Dia, I was trying to decipher Chhanchhan's expressions in the promo, she looked crestfallen ( but natural), but can't figure out if she looks defeated or was it controlled anger, after all she and her family were being publicly humiliated. I am hoping it is later. There has to be a reason for showing Chhanchhan notice the verbal barbs of Uma Ben.
DeleteI don't think Uma Ben will let the truth come out, she will cover her tracks. There are three reasons for this conclusion,first, Uma Ben is master manipulator and twists words and situation to hide her true agenda. She won't mind making the hired boyfriend a scapegoat. Second, like you said if the makers want to show Chhanchhan as truly emancipated woman, she should not marry Manav knowing to what level his mother can go to humiliate her and her family. She will also be aware of Uma Ben's dislike for her. Chhanchhan's father will also be more obstinate then. Third, of course is Manav, there is no way Uma Ben can win back his affection, short of dying, if he finds out about the subterfuge.
This revelation will be kept for later Dhamaka or totally forgotten.

One more thing we do not know is who is Uma Ben's co-conspirator? Is he/ she present at the engaement party? Why is this person helping Uma Ben against Sarabhai's and Chhanchhan. Is the fake boyfriend the helper?

I am pretty sure Umaben will make sure none of the blame falls on herself, because that will make her lose Manav for good. He walked out on her after one deception, she won him back only by consenting to his marriage ... now if he learns that she has tried to deceive him again, he will walk out and never return. So whatever Chhanchhan finds out, it will not be the whole truth. Umaben will manage to hide her own involvement - after all, Chhanchhan has said she will not marry Manan unless Umaben approves, and we know the wedding WILL happen :)))
DeleteAlso like you said, her dad will not agree either if he knows what lengths UB went to, to stall the wedding - he is already very hesitant.
Maybe the co-conspirator will just be the original match-maker or someone innocuous, who will take the blame and then disappear ... and Umaben will then be forced to go ahead with the wedding. The fake boyfriend is just a stooge - she was talking on the phone to someone else when she was looking for him in the party.
I felt Chhanchhan was quite firm in her tone ... distressed, yes, as natural, but not defeated. Will have to see how the episode pans out. Manthan might play the spoiler or game changer here - he has already remarked on the stranger. Or maybe not - he likes stirring trouble, not sorting it out.
The new show Ek Jaan, starting tomorrow at 9, is being written by Gautam Hegde, if this the other show Sanaya was offered, can see why she avoided it right after IPK...

Thanks for sharing Enkay. Just read, keeping fingers crossed that the show will get a new lease of life with a new lead, better story and execution. Hope this new guy is a decent actor, and now that the story is also entering the family drama stage, hope the story is also made interesting.

Hope to get final confirmation on this soon. The fact that FK is not denying the news, hopefully indicates it's true. With the wedding coming up, and the family drama finally ready to swing into play, hope the show starts taking off now.
