28/5 - Epi 38 ... Being Borisagara Bahu ... Trailor

Tuesday 28th May 2013

CC's parents ready to go for rishta talks ... father is still very, very hesitant and doubtful ... but has bowed under his daughter's wishes ... for now.

Umaben displays a jewelry shop to her husband ... secure in the knowledge that she is never going to actually give all that jewelry to Chanchan ... Ranjana's mouth waters seeing the sparklers. Manav dikra is overjoyed at Mummee's sudden and complete change of heart.
And conveniently, Babuji has to go for a court hearing ... why couldn't they postpone the rishta talks till another day when he could be present? So his role remains unclear.

Manthan does major spot of trouble stirring ... hmm, if he had married a girl like Ranjana, there would have been trouble much earlier in the BS family, that's for sure. His own wife is a simpleton and a blabbermouth ... he can't trust her with anything.
And he points out to Umaben that never for his in-laws, or Manik's, or Mukut's ... has there ever been so much of fuss or preparation. Umaben is rather annoyed ... someone who can see, maybe not completely through her plans ... but can make out she is behaving most atypically ... she actually gives an explanation, before remembering she doesn't need to.

Chanchan's parents arrive ... and receive a welcome and somewhat of an earful from Manthan ... about Manav and Chhanchhan's earlier coffee shop meetings. Wonder whether Manthan thought that CC's family was like his own, and her parents knew nothing about her meeting Manav?

And then Umaben starts her trailor of Life as Borisagar Bahu ... very cleverly, she deals with the one topic that she knows would make Chhanchhan herself call off the rishta ... Dowry ... and then proceeds to illustrate to CC's worried parents, what kind of life their daughter will lead ... pallu-clad, not allowed to speak her mind, no need to work and earn her living, dogs not allowed in the house, and art, even as a hobby, is frowned upon and disrespected ...
And the wedding will be in a week.

I wondered that CC's parents accepted the rishta ... and didn't say, we'll think about it and let you know. It was very clear from their expressions what they felt about the whole thing ... if it hadn't been for Manav and Chanchan being in love, this would have been the shortest rishta meeting in history. Really wish CC's mom had said, we need to consult Baa about this, we will get back to you. Am sure CC's dad will explode when he gets back home, and want to call off the wedding.

And during this, Chanchan and Manav have a lovey dovey talk ... or rather Chanchan has a lovey dovey talk ... Manav ... ummm ... errr ... yikes!!! Don't touch her!!!!

From the precap it was clear that Umaben knew exactly what she was doing and saying.

Whom is Uma ben talking to on the phone? From the precap, it's not her husband. So who is the person who is privy to her dirty plans?

  1. Supriya Pathak and Manthan are such good actors, one can hate their character, but no two ways about their acting.

Chhanchhan's father will explode for sure, but what will convince CC to accept this rishta after she hears how her parents were insulted? Was the short dialogue of CC yesterday about give and take of respect inserted for just this?

The producers are promoting the marriage track heavily...there are so many articles and videos about naach gaana and celebrity guest...and they timed it right after IPL, but the one major issue of ML, they have not fixed. Viewer's can't root for a love story which looks fake and unsavory. That is why Chhanchhan's dilemma or her parent's is not making much sense. Most just want CC to break the rishta and move on, that may garner more viewers!!

  2. I wondered too ... Umaben very subtly ... or rather, not so subtly insulted Chanchan's father ... will he even tell Chanchan about this? Doubt it ... but I hope they do tell her about all the rules and ask her to think again. I don't foresee wither of her parents being very happy with the rishta at all, not after watching Umaben in action. What I would like going with the very realistic touch in the show, is for them to want to talk to Manav, and ask him subtly, if he will support Chhanchhan if she takes time settling down to his mother's rules ... making it clear that they don't approve of the rules at all. For Manav, since he has grown in that household, he probably doesn't even register how stifling it could get for a girl like Chhanchhan, who has been brought up so differently.

The little girl, Kaumudi's daughter, plays Gunjan in Veera :)))

Uma, I SO AGREE ... the producers are doing everything right ... the timing of the marriage is really good, along with Umaben's trickery ... all the naach gaana and colorful wedding scenes coming up, all guaranteed to win back viewers after IPL ... IF ONLY they had timed the replacement of the male lead to hit along with the wedding promos, it would have generated all the excitement in the show all over again!!! With all the feedback they are getting ... apparently people are posting on the PH's FB page too, and I know people are sending feedback to Sony ... I just don't understand WHY they are not going ahead with a replacement.

From all the off screen segments yesterday, it was so obvious that FK doesn't get along well with any of the cast ... initially it was felt he is overawed by Sanaya ... but it seems he doesn't even get along with any of the guys, his own friend, Himanshu, with whom he has done so many scenes ... no one!!! He has shared screen space with the entire cast ... his own family as well as Chhanchhan's ... is there not even ONE person he can get friendly with in the space of two months? There HAS TO be something wrong somewhere, this is really not normal for any actor or cast. And most actors would help a newcomer to settle in, here no one else seems to be making much of an effort either.

And because of his stiffness, their love story just doesn't seem worthwhile fighting Umaben for! Viewers will actually be very happy if the rishta breaks and CC is free of both Manav and Umaben! Well, free of Manav at least ... I think no one will have problems if UB breaks the rishta, forces Manav to marry another girl, Manav commits suicide out of depression ... and lo and behold, enter a rebellious son of UB's ... a black sheep ... out to avenge his little brother's death ... he woos Chhanchhan and marries her, and then the whole story starts all over again!!!

*sigh* ... I know I'm dreaming ... just change the wretched actor, for God's sakes! It has to mean something when romantic scenes, usually the most anticipated ones, are greeted with reactions of shock and horror and cries of "No Please!!!"

    1. Excellent plot, Dia. LOL.

Sigh....Why are they BLIND to the one factor? This guy has a lot of pull, if he is staying in spite of being the worst actor on television. Actually I look at the actors in the ads in the CC breaks, and wish this one...or that one...ANY ONE would be better!

I am loving this track. Manthan is really good. Uma Ben continues to be super. And San is super duper...but they have to change the ML. He cannot be sidelined since the love story is important too. I must say, the show gives me the feel that they are already side lining the character. The rest of the epi was good- very realistic. Makes a world of difference when they don't show us the love story. Thank You, CVs.

    2. Yes, Su, I think he got this job through pull ... and he is staying on through pull ... otherwise with all the rumors about replacement from almost week one of the show, and the news that PH was ready, but channel was not ... he has some major connections for sure. So either they will sideline him after the wedding, or the channel also feels that since they can't replace him for whatever reason, let him stay, TRP's will force a decision one way or the other, and give them enough reason to shut the show - if it comes to that.
And if the TRPs remain decent enough after the real story starts, the PH will call the shots on the story, and hopefully they will do the needful Sanaya has said repeatedly that this is not a love story, so I hope after the wedding, it switches full on to family drama.

I know that a new show cannot be axed before three months minimum, am just wondering if actors have a similar contract, and that is the stalling factor. I have NEVER heard Sanaya make remarks about her costars, so the fact that she is saying it so openly, really makes me wonder.

    3. I also feel, apart from sidelining, they have given up on expecting him to act. He had one fixed expression on his face throughout the time he was listening to his parents' conversation at the start of the episode ... no change when his dad said he is not going to be there, no reaction when UB looked up and pretended to notice him standing there ... NO CHANGE at all!!! Just one fixed smile. Ranjana when she came in with the tea, had about a million expressions changing on her face ... her mouth watering hen she sees the jewels, that flash of petulance, that how do I know how they will look on CC, I haven't seen CC, then the change to buttering UB again ... UB's expressions responded to Ranjana's each change ... and this guy - nothing!

  4. ROFL ... yep, that's me ... seriously, I have to get over this revulsion I feel whenever I see the guy ... will never be able to enjoy Chanchan if I don't. He seems to be here to stay, unfortunately ... all I hope is that after the wedding, he disappears into the woodwork :)

Kurukshetra it is ... good way of putting it :)))
I am placing my bets on Babuji being Krishna ... with his armies on one side (Umaben's) while his moral support is with Chanchan. There has to be a reason he has been missing in so many key scenes, and why Umaben does not even trust him, her own husband, with her plans.

  5. Another scene I really liked ... just a small one at the start ... when CC's dad emerges, buttoning his shirt, Dadi tells him he should have worn traditional clothes and he answers rather curtly and leaves ... loved the little exchange between CC and her mom ... CC all worried and tense because she knows her dad is not very happy but is just supporting her, while her mom tries to reassure her that her father is ok, it's just the tension of settling the rishta. Very sweet scene, hardly any words, their expressions were just so beautiful. Lovely mom-daughter duo.
