Other Shows We're Watching

Since Rangrasiya is wrapping up, thought I would revive this thread. I'm not watching too many other shows these days ... I was hooked to Mahabharat till it ended, and now am watching KBC four days a week. The only other show I watch regularly is

Yeh Hain Mohabbatein ... surprising for an Ekta show, it's going quite well as of now ... although the same vamps and villains have started their antics, but so far, the tracks are short and sweet, and the heroes win over the villains every time. Ishita, Raman, and their nok-jhok is actually cute ... Mrs Bhalla and Mrs Iyer also keep me entertained. The kids are very cute ... Ruhi and Shravan both ... they're not very brattish and precocious like many TV and movie kids tend to be. Karan Patel is good as Raman, Divyanka is average as Ishita, but her character is well written. Mrs Iyer is OTT, but watchable.

Laut Aao Trisha is another good show ... haven't been watching it too regularly, may go back to it once RR wraps up.

Anyone tried Jamai Raja? I can't stand Nia ... otherwise I might have given it a shot. I might try a couple of the new Sony shows, I keep seeing the promos during KBC. Kumkum Bhagya was supposed to be intense, it's now become more comic, from what I've caught recently.

  1. @dia: I am watching YHM, i like it! Looking at the formula: good story, strong lead characters (both have their own stories) even in this one the primary story is the male lead's broken marriage etc. but still there is a connect with the female lead bc she has a story and a well etched out character, add on a few more strong cast members , and a popular network and there is a recipe for success. Having said that, even with of RR's faults, I truly truly believe if Rangrasiya was on any other network it would have seen success, the chemistry alone of SI and AS and the original story would have assured that.. None of Colors shows are real successes. well whatever, could have would have should have, water under the bridge as you said>
I know many people gripe about the other show Beintehaa being kept but i am sure Rangrasiya is a bigger expense then Beintehaa which may be why they're keeping it. Well whatever, waiting for the next show, hope Sanaya is going to start something soon :)

    1. Kiran: Agree with you. RR would have stood a chance if the channel had been different. I just hope the show ends on a high note. Like the way it started. Funny thing is that the off-screen videos are more fun these days. Looks like AS' next performance in jhalak will be a tribute to RR viewers. Not sure if it is his own idea or a group decision (between the channel and the PH). But he has been really sweet to the fans off-late. The selfie with sanaya and the tribute performance next week. So nice of him. Hope the actors of RR get some good projects ASAP.

My roomie has been trying to make me watch YHM for a very long time. Might start watching it after RR ends. The thought of catching up the entire story makes my head spin. Hopefully AS or SI start acting in a new show very soon.

  2. Besides RR, I just follow Laut Aao Trisha...It's a good show, but the acting is much below par...Just ACP Kabir n Lavanya act well...rest so so. The story is going well and the characters have many layers.... So will continue watching that......( Ashish would have been awesome as ACP Kabir)

Used to watch YHM... Maybe should start again....

My MIL is highly recommending the Pak serials on Zindagi channel...she says they are the new rage and absolutely top quality...will give them a try too.

  3. PAK dramas: i completely agree, i watched humsafar when it first aired and also zindagi gulzar hai, maat
there is less physical contact as we are used to in indian serials but the storytelling in a good quality Pakistani drama is top notch for sure. I love that the episodes are fixed number of episodes so there's no pressure to increase trps in a hurry bc the episodes will end soon :) the whole story is mapped from beginning to end
Rangrasiya was a brilliant story when it started I would love to hear ST talk about his original vision and what the original story was....
