5/8 - Epi 157 ... Dhuan Kumari 2.0

Tuesday 5th August

Filler episode ... leading up to Myrah's arrival at the Ranawat house.

So we got some sweet interactions between Rudra and Dhruv ... Dhruv still convinced Myrah is his mother ... Rudra trying to convince him she isn't, his mother is dead ... Dhruv upset.

Mandatory filler scene of Shatabdi and Mohini's oneupmanship ... Shatabdi cons Mohini into thinking she's going to be interviewed on TV ... again using Koel. This round to Shatabdi. If this show lasts till the kids grow up, Koel will be one crafty girl, adept at playing people against each other. Her mother and grandmother are not the best examples at all.

Myrah argues with her uncle about the need for security ... she doesn't like Rudra, but then he saved her from an accident ... and that reminds her, she has a task to complete. So off to the Ranawat haveli ...

Rudra tries to cajole a sad Dhruv ... without success.
Maithili cajoles Dhruv out of his sulks ... by using Paro's mantra ... aatan paatan chusski phiski, moriya le jaa peed iski ... and gets the kids ready for their fashion show rehearsal.

Mohini conned by Shatabdi into going to search for the non-existent TV reporter, instead comes across  ... a modern day Dhuan Kumari. Myrah emerging out of the smoke ...

And Mohini thinks she's seen a ghost. Ananya's expressions were awesome there! And so were Sanaya's ... wondering why everyone runs away when they see her!

Kids finish their rehearsal ... Koel does an enactment of Mohini, Dhruv of Major Rudra Pratap Ranawat Jr, BSD officer ... Rudra gets emotional at Dhruv's mention of dying and stops him ... did he remember that Paro also said the same words, and her words came true?

Mohini runs in, scared out of her wits ... Ranawats try to find out what has scared her ... Mohini stutters ... dhuan ... bhoot ...

And Myrah appears at the doorway of the haveli ... much to everyone's complete and utter shock ...
All recall their first interactions with Paro ... Mohini, Maithili, Sumer, Shatabdi ... Koel recalls Paro's picture.

Rudra tells Myrah to go.

Myrah makes herself at home ... she's come for a reason ... to say sorry.
Rudra, from being Mr Angry, has progressed to being Mr Rude ... okay, sorry accepted ... now go.
Not to him ... Myrah wants to say sorry to Dhruv.
And she does.
Takes her time over it ... smiles at the child ... presents him a chocolate ... which he waits for approval from Maithili before taking ... and then promises him her friendship. And he can visit her whenever he likes.
Dhruv is thrilled.

Rudra packs the kids off to school with Sumer. And tells Myrah to go.

Myrah admires the haveli, and asks Danveer if he built it for Mohini ... Taj Mahal types.
Still shell shocked Mohini, protesting she's very much alive, is removed by Danveer.

Rudra tells Myrah to go.

Myrah asks Maithili to show her the house.

I think Rudra asked Myrah again to go. He repeated it every two minutes ... forget how many times. He is running scared of this new intrusion in his life, and the unnecessary, unnatural overbearing rudeness shows his fear.

Not that it had any effect on Myrah. She likes the haveli, and she wants to see it.

So of course, Myrah will want to use the haveli for her wedding.

Precap - will Myrah see Paro's picture? Or will Rudra stop her?

  1. Today's showstopper award goes to the granny granddaughter duo, Mohini-Koel .;-))
Koel's imitation of Mohini and her dialogues were hilarious, the girl who plays Koel is such a riot ;-) But its to remind us that be careful what to speak/ behave in front of kids, they are like sponges absorb everything in and shapes their future personality, and Dia you are right neither her mother nor her grandmother are good influences!
Mohini's reaction on seeing Myra alone is worth watching in today's entire episodes.

RR does not believe in dragging the plot, they mean business alright, the entire family meets Myra today under the same roof, no dragging the story whatsoever, 'TIME IS PRECIOUS'!!!

And a suspense filled precap, will she( Myra ) ? or wont she be able to see Paro portrait?

Gone are those days of RR where you would be glued to the screen and go WOW at the end of the episode.
I am just watching it now a days because I have got used to it, hopefully they will bring back the glory days, then again the new plot has just begun so...

P.S. The new Dhruv fails to impress me on day 2 too :-/

    1. I guess the old Dhruv had the lost, longing look on his face. People might find it appealing. The new kid looks like a naughty kid. May be he is just like his dad in his childhood. We will get used to him. It is good that the CVs changed the kid after 2 - 3 episodes. Anytime later would have been a disaster.

And yeah... Mohini was the STAR of the show. Amazing acting by Ananya. Also, liked the flashback scenes remembered by the Ranawats, when they met Paro / Myrah.

    2. Madhu - read somewhere that the old Dhruv is sick. So maybe he will be back. But honestly - I like this one better. He looks younger and the acting is getting better - it was better today.
I am not at all liking the Shatabdi/ Mohini one upmanship. If I want to see saas - bahu stuff - there are many serials out there.
I do love Maithili. I was always a Sanaya fan - I am not a Geetanjali fan. And I love the bhabhisa - dewaarjisa bond.
Ashish was very good today. How is face fell when he saw Paro's photo fall from Dhruv's hand made me feel so bad for him.
Loved the flashbacks of Paro - very well done.

    3. I liked the old Dhruv better too ... especially his bond with Rudra. The new Dhruv with Rudra is not cutting it for me. He's okay with Maithili and Myrah ... he has a mischievous look, so he gels with Myrah. But the first Dhruv had that thehraav and wistfulness in his eyes, which matched with Rudra's, so I could feel their bond better.

Anyway, can't do anything about that ... the poor kid fell sick, so the makers had no choice.

I agree with MB, though ... this is now looking like any other show. I'm watching it only out of habit, and for Sanaya. Myrah and the kids bring in some freshness to the show ... otherwise, today, especially Rudra's rudeness with Myrah was just a rehash, repeat ... I felt he had the same expressions and even the same dialogues! And it will go the same way ... Myrah insists on staying in the haveli, Rudra tries to throw her out, he is rude to her to mask his own awareness of her ... again, it's silly ... is he so affected by her just because she has the same face? In the first two minutes of meeting her, he should have seen how different she is from Paro ... and then told her the truth ... look, I have no problem with you, but you resemble my dead wife so closely that my son is getting wrong ideas ... so please stay away from him, for his sake.
Myrah is a sweet girl, she would have understood, and stayed away ... of course, then there would be no story! :))) Especially if the makers are keeping their options open that Myrah is actually Paro.

I loved the scenes of Myrah emerging from the smoke ... and then the flashbacks of every member of the family about Paro.

Also liked the Rudra Dhruv interactions ... Rudra is trying to be the best father he can ... but again, he came across awkward with this kid ... he was much more natural with the first one.

  2. Dia et al! filler episode yes but a few observations:
Myrah's voice today sounded more like Paro, especially on the phone with her uncle, the modulation, it didn't have that teekha pan and shrillness that Myrah has had, did anyone else notice it? Was this intentional?
Chachi has had a personality transformation! where's that rattlesnake sound effect and that Evil Kaaki sa, she's just a typical saasu maa now, I wonder how the actress feels about that, I am not sure whether I like the new bland kaaki with the teekha achaar ;) or the old evil one (she was too much at times also)...
@MB Koel/Mohini duo is definitely cute!
I didn't understand clearly why Myrah went back to check on Dhruv, I didn't quite get the reasoning, seemed contrived and lazy writing but they needed her to come and see the haveli (she could have brought his wallet back at that time too ....) Sometimes creativity in these little details makes things more interesting, khair let's see what CVs are cooking, I sense a loss of interest in the current track, hope something exciting comes up soon!

    1. @Kiran: Agree with you. Myrah sounded like Paro. A little soft. Her usual chirpiness gone. I too wondered about Mohini's personality transformation. But I like the actress. So, I guess it is ok. The CVs have destroyed so many characters, killed Paro. What do we lose in killing the essence of another character? There was an unexplored story of the older generation of Ranawats. I guess everything became dhuan. I am just glad that KcM's sarcasm is retained.

Too many hints are being dropped indicating the connection between Paro and Myrah. Or are they just coincidences? Don't know. Can't believe the CVs. Ok then, what happens when Myrah settles in with the Ranawats? What next? Are we too impatient? The show has slowed down considerably, but I feel that the other serials would be still slower than RR. Don't know what to expect.

    2. Myrah - ab main kya bolu. I am not sure if I like how this is going. I love Sanaya - but I love Sanaya better as Khushi and Paro. Not so much the bubbly modern Chanchan and now Myrah.
Let's hope the seriousness comes in once she finds out about Paro.
And I bet she won't tomorrow. Not yet (I hope).
I think we are too used to the wham bam RR - this slower pace is making me impatient ( mostly because it lacks substance). Did I say it was slow? LOL!!! I think I said it was too fast a while back. Never satisfied :)

    3. Kiran ... yes, I also noticed Myrah's voice in that scene on the phone ... it was softer and more modulated than Myrah's voice in the scene with the Ranawats. So what does that mean? Is it Paro but minus any memory loss? She knows what she's doing? Or is it Myrah, but a Myrah who knows Paro's full story ... and is back for some purpose we don't yet know?
Have no clue ... but Sanaya is too good an actress to mess these things up, so it seems it was deliberate.

Myrah started to eat the biscuit, remembered offering it to Dhruv ... and Rudra was pretty rough and brusque with Dhruv in that scene ... so she went back to check on him. But agree ... it was a bit of a cop out ... it would have made more sense if she went back to return Rudra's wallet. Unless they're trying to show that Myrah has some pull towards Dhruv.

I loved Sanaya as Gunjan and Paro ... I liked her as Khushi only because it was Sanaya ... when Khushi went too OTT at the end, I watched ONLY for Sanaya ... any other actress, I would have stopped. But I liked her as Chhanchhan too ... close to Sanaya in real life, and with the sweetness and brisk common sense that I think is part of Sanaya too ... I think Myrah is going to be the same.

If what we said above is true ... that Myrah's voice int he conversation with her chacha was different ... then it may mean that Myrah is acting a part ... of being extra loud and chirpy. Now why ... god only knows.

And maybe we're reading too much into it!!! That's also a possibility.

I feel the makers have not yet decided which way to take Myrah ... and will go by the ratings.

    4. All,

I guess we are getting too impatient. :) Like Dia pointed out, the makers might not have decided which way to go with Myrah. Frankly, I liked Sanaya as Parvati and Khushi, more as Parvati. I didn't watch the last 20 - 30 episodes of IPKKND, so I wouldn't know. I think we need to watch the next couple of episodes and see what Myrah is upto. I think Rudra's reaction was appropriate considering that the fact that he couldn't be polite to save his life. He was that kind of a person before, not sure how much of it has changed. He is reminded of Paro when he sees Myrah. I think that is what AS said in one of the interviews. All those haunting memories keep coming to his mind, which is very obviously affecting his equilibrium (if he has one!). And I definitely don't think he is falling for the lookalike. That would be suicide. Yes... he could tell Myrah about Paro and ask her to stay away. But Rudra being Rudra, his first tendency is to react rather than act. I think that is an established fact. He doesn't know what to do, completely out of his wits and his son's conviction that his mom is back is not helping him either. The poor guy cannot even be angry with his son because of his promise to Paro. I think this is one part of the reason, while the other part would be that there is no story if Myrah doesn't meet the Ranawats. The CVs could have created a natural situation in which they could have brought the Ranawats and Myrah aamne saamne. I guess given the time for the track change and to develop a new story, such things have to be overlooked. The pace is not too slow, but it has been slowed down considerably, especially after the last 2 weeks. In other shows, 2 weeks would have elapsed before Myrah and the Ranawats met. So, it is still ok. I have tried to refrain from all negative comments, because it could be mostly due to us reading between the lines. And not to forget the fact that most of us are under the assumption that Myrah could be Paro. So, let us take one step at a time and wait for the real story to unfold. The CVs are trying their best to optimize the speed of the show. I think we will get to see the Rohit guy sometime next week. Then the story will have another dimension to it.
