12/8 - Epi 162 ... Can We Stop The Bells?!

Tuesday 12th August

From dark, intense, passionate romance to ... comedy?!

And what's with the pace again ... what is the rush to show romance between Myrah and Rudra?

And what's with the silly bells ringing ... if the CVs think that's a funny way to show that Myrah is getting supernatural signals about her emotions for Rudra ... then let me assure them, it's not funny, it's stupid.

Myrah checking out the temple bells was cute though ... and Shatabdi trying to find out her budget for her wedding, and wanting a slice of the pie was amusing ... does Shatabdi really think she can cater for a high society wedding like Myrah's would be? If there is going to be a wedding at all, that is.

The shawl scene was okay ... Rudra tries to apologise ... Myrah gets him angry again ... Dhruv tells him he will listen to him from now on ... Rudra is pleased, but surprised that it was Myrah who taught Dhruv the right thing ... feels he might have misjudged her after all ... goes and covers her with Paro's shawl. Dhruv happy ... she may not be Mummy, but Mummy has sent her ... that's why you gave her Mummy's shawl.

The Parud flashbacks were probably the most touching part of the episode.

Maithili tells Myrah that the shawl was given by Rudra ... and it's Paro's shawl ... Myrah doesn't react to Paro's name at all.
But she does go to return the shawl ... and smiles to see Rudra and Dhruv sleeping exactly the same way. And of course falls over ... Rudra wakes up ... some more tu tu main main ...
After Paro and Rudra's intensity, these scenes seem so light and immature.

Did not find the kids' stunt funny ... no logic in their thinking that if Myrah has been sent by Paro, she should like the same food. Maithili talking about Paro and her pregnancy was touching ... wish the stupid cv's, instead of being in such a hurry to wrap up Paro's death, had taken the time to give us some cute Paro pregnancy scenes ...

Rudra goading Myrah to eat was not funny either ... it's not only NRIs who don't know how to eat daal baati, most non-Rajasthanis don't know either.

Myrah behaving like a stubborn fool and continuing to eat was even less funny ...

The whole bathroom drama was stupid ... although have to say, Sanaya and Ashish, and Shatabdi and Maithili all acted well.

Rudra laughing at the end was cringeworthy ... to laugh like that at someone is not funny at all. Could have understood if the kids had laughed ... but not a grown man. Anyway I'm not a fan of toilet humor at all.

And the precap ... more Myrah Rudra closeness? If there are more bells ringing, I think I will do something I didn't even do for Chhanchhan ... give up on the show.

  1. @Quote - And the precap ... more Myrah Rudra closeness? If there are more bells ringing, I think I will do something I didn't even do for Chhanchhan ... give up on the show - That makes two of us. I might not watch if they take that route. It is just too early. For the CVs, Paro died seven years back. For the viewers, it has been just two weeks. They could atleast show as if rudra is saving Myrah from a bad situation. Or something like that. Or is it a way for Myrah to figure out the truth about paro? Don't know. Just reading the updates gave me indigestion. Not sure how I am going to watch the episode today after going home.

  2. I really don't know if I can keep watching RR. I just don't feel it anymore.
I like Myra as a individual character but I don't feel Myrud. I know it's too early to tell and I should give the story a few episodes, but right now I don't feel the eye locks and closeness with Rudra. If they are really going the love route than it is way too soon.

Yes, Rudra and Paro's love was rushed too, but I could always understand why Paro loved Rudra and why Rudra loved Paro.
But right now I don't see any reason why there will be any romantic feelings anytime soon between Rudra and Myra. But let's see and watch...

But this bell ringing is the most stupid thing on television :-D I really don't get it and it is really not funny anymore. I hope this mystery will be solved soon...

    1. Patience Ladies, am sure things will work out soon enough (fingers crossed)..........before you guys decide to pull the plug on watching the show, can someone please tell me what is "daal baati"? I initially thought it was a variant of daal bhaat, (as in pronunciation), but obviously that was not the case.
By the way, I too am not a fan of the current so-called humour on RR and usually try to zone out - it helps.

    2. Dislikes for todays episode:
toilet humour (blech, never liked it)
why did Myrah decide to sleep out in the courtyard in the first place?
the sudden realization to Dhruv that its not his Mom but someone sent by his mom....where did he even get that idea from? would have been nice if CVs explained Dhruv's thinking...maybe they cut a scene out explaining it.
watching AS and SI : it's like watching another show: a mediocre one at that....chemistry is there i feel but there is no intensity....
Rudra laughing was out of place and where did Myrah get the bandana from???
and the BELLLS, uffff, annoying and not making any sense at this point.
Rudra/Myrah closeness: too soon CVs too soon! and its just a physical attraction whereas with Parud it was so much more.
(combo of two parud scenes isn't it? the fall scene where Rudra burst out laughing...and also the one where Paro wouldn't stop laughing at Rudra's singing and he kept telling her to 'ek dam chup!"

      Likes in the episode

SI comic timing is awesome, she was so funn! but OTT Myrah going to the loo bleeecccch again.... btw why was she asking for the Loo? she's been in this house for a few days now, shouldn't she just know where the bathroom is?
Kids were cute, I liked their planning together, their plan was just silly, wouldn't it have made more sense if kids found out Shatabdi was trying to cater their wedding and they were trying to sabotage her wedding plans?
Paro's flashback scene and Maithili's remembering Paro were a nice touch.
I think the writers were out tying Rakhis and left the writing to their kids , humor was juvenile as was Paro and Rudra's tu tu main main.
Also i feel they may be trying to re create the khushi arnav magic by giving us this version of the show but today's episode did not work.
up until now i'm liking it but more Myra is Paro hints and solving of this mystery of Myrah would make this show once again intriguing.....

  3. Ring my bell.... ring my bell.... song by Enrique keeps running in my head whenever they show Myra hearing ringing bells!!!! ;-0
Well I noticed that today when they showed the same, there was even a heartbeat sound along with the bells, am I the only one who heard it?
If its true then I think the makers are certainly going to take that as her falling for Rudra, hence the dhak dhak's :-/ Also I got thinking are they going the movie 'Return to me' ( starring David Duchovny and Minnie Driver ) way?- this will satisfy all of those audience too who want Myra connected to Paro in some way!, but its too much of a coincidence that Myra even looks like Paro huh??!!! ( liked the movie by the way, I think they tried to copy that in hindi too, starring Salman Khan, Priety Zinta and Bhoomika Chawla, forgot the name of the movie, which turned out be lame )

Though this RR 2is not as enticing as RR1, I still seem to watching it out of a habit, and after crying bucket loads on Paro's demise and few of the episodes from there on whenever they showed her flashbacks, I kinda welcome this change, its lighter and fresher and the actors are trying their best you can see that.
Will watch few more episodes to see where they are going to take this, anyhow even with its recent cliched plot RR2 is still the best serial out there compared to the crap the others are dishing out according to me!!!!!!!!!!!!!

P.S. She seems to be ok with today's episode. Anyways, some positivity is always good. :)

    3. @Morning Breeze: Totally agree with you. Just imagine me sitting at my desk and ROFLing. :D :D I would have enjoyed the episode to the fullest, if there had not been RR1. I just hope Rudra doesn't fall for Myrah. Looks like Myrah will somehow fall for Rudra. Hopefully, there should be a good backup story for that. At this point, I will not blame the CVs. That's lots of water under the bridge. Everyone is trying his/her best to keep the show alive. Not too positive this time.

  4. Kind of braced myself to watch today's episode. It wasn't that bad. May be I was imagining the worst. The only thing that puzzles me is Rudra's change of attitude towards Myrah. It took him ages to soften towards Paro. And Paro was nothing like Myrah. Even if the CVs want to further the story at jet speed, Rudra goading Myrah to eat the spicy Dal bhaati was totally out of character. As far as I remember, Rudra was chilled out only with Paro. Now he has let his guard down with Myrah. Interesting change of dynamics!

Looks like the show will end soon. Or that is what TOI says. I don't know how reliable it is. No offense to any TOI readers, but my dad always says TOI is crappy compared to Hindu and Indian Express. I guess there are problems between the PH and the channel that are deep rooted than mere TRP ratings. Like Kiran and Dia pointed out, there has not been a single promo for the new track. If the channel's problem is low TRP, they would have definitely promoted the new track. In retrospect, there hasn't been many promos after the marriage track. Agreed that RR is at the bottom of the TRP chart. But the ratings of Beintahaa have not been that great. Then why isn't BI not going off-air? Any information or feedback on this is appreciated.

  5. Ghanti logicwa - not sure if you guys read the latest theory on the Myra is Paro. Read it on IF - but the theory is that Paro is still alive and in a coma. That the whole Myra thing is Paro's dream - which is why only the people who really matter to her are in it. If so, I still think the ghanti is a pooja/ arti going on and Paro (Myra) is hearing it in her coma as she is slowly coming out of her coma. Now the only thing I don't get is why do the bells ring only when she's in close proximity of Rudra? Unless in addition to the pooja going on, Rudra is desperately trying to get her to wake up. Some sort of pull (strong bond) between the two? And maybe Paro is sub-conciouly getting back at Rudra by yelling at him and calling him khadoos muchad;) ok- the last piece is just a joke.
Chalo lagta hai I'm going crazy reading these Hope & Faith posts on IF. Lol!!!

  6. Hi Dia and everyone else following the show,

Just wanted to share some thoughts.

I get the general feeling from IF and here that half the fandom is not receiving Myra well...or rather, Myrud.

I have watched only very little bit of Myra, and she seemed interesting.

Anyway, with the rumour of the show possibly shutting down and all, this is what I felt.

    1. The show could probably end, if they are rushing Rudra falling for Myra- not sure how his feelings are showing up. If they wanted to continue with the show, only way forward would be Rudra marrying Myra for the sake of his son...and some other majbooori situation where Myra wouldn't mind being bound to Rudr, considering she is already hearing bells...but Rudr's feelings would evolve very slowly...over months and years. And Myra would slowly settle into realisation that Paro will always be Rudr's first love and she will respect that. (This is because I feel ST will take it as an insult to stepdown from his leap idea, considering he had shown it clearly that Paro died. Trying to bring Paro back to life would make him look absurd...however, we do not know what he had intended in the first place, so I am waiting to see what this is about.Especially the bell part and its various interpretations.)

    2. Since I am seeing the story as Myra and Paro being two separate individuals, I wondered if connection to another well -received love story on second chances could work for all the fans.

I am not saying that all should welcome the idea of second chances with open arms.

I am reminded of the movie- kal ho na ho...ironically, I hated the way it ended. I could not digest the fact that Naina would still remember Aman with so much passion despite being happily married to Rohit. Maybe, it was because I was immature, or the fact that I was in the phase of falling out of love with SRK ...or that I liked Rohit's characterisation and acting much better...

    whatever...I am still Team Rohit.

If U transplant that situation into Rangrasiya- There are two women in Rudr's life- but Paro will always be his true soulmate...and Myra would be selfless enough to appreciate that and settle into being the second best.

If RR were to end with Rudr sitting on the bench and remembering Paro with tears of happiness, as he watches Dhruv happily playing with Myra- a monologue with Paro- ...and Myra looks back to give him an understanding smile...with that butterfly (a more real looking one, if possible) fluttering around, I would call it a poetic ending.

Also remembering Titanic here. Jack had extracted a promise from Rose that she would continue to live on- celebrating their love everyday...probably the words Paro could not complete...

    1. Hey Su,

You made me feel melancholic by taking references of kal ho na ho. I guess the makers are buying time to see how the trp ratings turn out. And they have been improving since Myrah's entry. In fact, rr's trp improved last week while most of the shows saw a decrease in their rating. The intensity is gone. But I am still enjoying RR2 , despite my decision that I would stop watching the show after paro's death. There are a few things I don't like, but as always, the acting of the cast is so good that I am just not able to give up. Instead if panicking, I guess we should wait for the CVs to switch gears. These days, most of the episodes are like filler episodes. I guess the makers are also giving us time to get used to Myrah and everyone in the ranawat house. We just have to wait for the entire story to unfold. The CVs sure will have some backup plans. The show might end in September or May be in December. The show will not stretch beyond 2014. So, in either case, the CVs will have an alternative plan. My personal wish is that Myrah is in fact paro. Read a post in IF that compared rudra to the raj character in mohabbatein. Actually makes a lot of sense to me that way. Rudra is very loyal to those who love him. Especially paro. Not sure what the creatives have planned for him. But it would be nice if they keep rudra's character intact. Myrah's bells are confusing me. The CVs are dropping hints that she could be paro. But the next minute, we see something that doesn't support our belief that Myrah is paro. They have something up their sleeve to prove Myrah is paro. But they are just swinging between the two possibilities to gauge the audience response and of course to boost trps. I am seriously not into the guessing game. I am just taking one episode at a time. The show is still enjoyable. That is all matters to me, as of now.

    2. Hi Madhumitha,

IMO, the trps had to improve. What went wrong with RR 1 was that it was neither here nor there for most of the viewers. If fans felt ST created an epic love story with the current version, he could have done much much better. No one knows what works for a show, but u can have some idea as to what will not work.

Myrah's entry will not work for a die hard Parud fan- all my sympathies there- but it will be interesting to an audience who never connected with Parud. A fresh viewer sees it as a widower's second chance at life...and they are fine with that. If U mix all the other ingredients in the right proportion, it becomes quite watchable. As Dia suggesetd, it has to be watched as an altogether new show perhaps.

I do get it that the intensity is gone. But it should be. More than intensity and physical chemistry, ST should be concentrating on Myra's growth. Even if he does not, the audience might just accept an average love story, since nothing has been promised this time around. A lot of the audience wants to see something pleasant and Myra is just that. There is no angst, no drama- it is a simple plot as of now. U throw in kids, and U R sure to get some kind of audience. So, like U suggested, it may go on till Dec- I also believe that Colors will think twice before pulling the plug off ST's show, since he has some amount of pull, obviously.

On CVs dropping hints that Myah is Paro- can only comment on what I have read. The butterfly is simply a symbol of Paro's presence for me.And Myrah's behaviour is so unlike a person having amnesia. And the way she said Jija, and Dhruv says momma sent her..all point to the fact that she is here to take Paro's place- sent by her.

One thing I realised from IPK times here in RR is that our minds can play amazing games with us too. No matter what the CVs show, we end up seeing only what we want to see. Anyway, I hope they take it forward palatably. Glad U R enjoying the show.
