26/8 - Epi 171 ... The Truth Is Out

Tuesday 26th August

The truth is finally out ... and about time too!

Maithili is right ... Rudra is developing feelings for Myrah ...

Myrah still vacillating between 'he loves me, he loves me not ...'  is convinced by Maithili's lecture ... and decides to stay out of Rudra's way.

Dhruv and Koel ask for Myrah ... Maithili tries to brush them off ... Rudra stays quiet. His feelings seem to be a mix of guilt and something more ... he says nothing to help Maithili brugh off the kids.
Kids, being kids, insist on checking on Myrah ... so Rudra takes them to her room.
Myrah stays true to her resolve of staying out of his way, so refuses the invitation for ice cream.

Rudra keeps stealing glances at Myrah ... as usual, afraid to face his emotions ... as usual, running away ... Myrah feels again that maybe Maithili is right after all, and helps him out ... refuses to come with them.
And also answers his unspoken question ... 'I'm all right."

Of course Rudra can't admit he was asking her that ...

Kakisa will not change till the end ... she's now ruing why the kidnappers were so stupid and didn't manage to extract any money from Myrah ... and matchmaking for ... Rudra. Both her sons are married, as Danveer points out ... but thoughts of the potential dowry Myrah might bring, suddenly awakens belated maternal feelings in Mohini.

Myrah alone at home, confused at her feelings and Maithili's words ... and Rudra's silence ... tries to call Rohit, only gets voicemail.
She makes up her mind it's 'he loves me not' ... and decides to return Rudra's jacket ... it's not hers to keep, after all. And in Rudra's room thanks to a few helpful gusts of wind, she discovers Paro's picture. Minus the garland.

And she jumps to the fairly natural conclusion that it's her ... the way Rudra would like to see her. After all, the man has been giving her lectures on true love and marriage, questioning her about her fiance, taking his bodyguard role very seriously to the point of guarding her the whole night in his own house ... and not to forget the most important point ... he kissed her. But Maithili says he likes his woman to be desi ... and he's also been going on about how 'angrez' and non-desi she is ... so maybe that's his sticking point, and this painting is how he would like Myrah to look.

Which means  ... he loves her. He really does. Why else would he have a life size painting of her hidden in his cupboard?! Why else did he kiss her?!

There is another big reason, of course ... but Myrah really cannot be expected to think that she is the humshakal of Rudra's wife, and nobody has bothered to tell her this huge truth in so many days of her living there.

It seems Myrah shares another trait with Paro, apart from the speed of falling in love with Rudra ... she does nothing by half measures. And she's transparent about her feelings.
So first thing she does ... break up with Rohit ... over a recorded video message.

What a way to break up! I almost feel sorry for the absent Rohit ... she could have waited for him to come to Udaipur and told him in person!
And also waited to clarify matters with Rudra in person too ... Jumping the gun ... is a kind way to describe Myrah here.

However, unlike yesterday, when she sounded like a giddy teenager in the throes of her first serious crush, Myrah actually sounded quite serious about being in love with Rudra.

The RR cvs have absolutely NO IDEA how to show a woman falling in love. RR 2.0 repeats another trait of RR 1.0 ... the express train unbelievable speed of the FL falling in love with the ML.

Her unpleasant task accomplished, Myrah starts the next task.

In the meantime, Rudra, Sumer and family are happily eating ice-creams ... till Rudra suddely realises that Myrah is at home alone ... belatedly wakes up to his bodyguard duties ... and rushes home.

And finds Myrah in HIS room, wearing HIS Paro's clothes ... (not done, Myrah ... how can you happily take out clothes from his cupboard and merrily wear them? And has Rudra kept Paro's clothes in her cupboard for the last seven years?!)  ... preening herself in front of HIS Paro's picture ... and very pleased with herself about it.
As expected, Rudra loses it completely. First he loses his voice ... as he sees Myrah, but not Myrah ... Paro ... Paro laughing, smiling, jumping in the sand, all the flashbacks come crowding in ...
And then Myrah speaks ... about how she dressed up for him, this is the way he would like to see her ... and it's time they acknowledged their feelings for each other ...

And the memories are replaced by rage ... how dare she?!
Dhruv and Koel come back ... Dhruv says 'mummy has come back' ...
And Rudra loses it ... there are no feelings ... he doesn't love her ... the painting is not her, it's his wife, Paro, the woman he loves most in the world, the woman inside his heart for ever and ever ... and he hates Myrah ... because she has Paro's face, Paro's voice ... but she is NOT Paro! And she can never be his Paro.

Poor Myrah stares at him as her beautiful castle of dreams comes crashing down around her ears ... completely in shock.

As per precap - Myrah leaves the Ranawat haveli ... am glad, it's what I would expect her to do.
And Rudra goes after her ... why?

  1. Poor Myra! I felt really bad for her. This was inevitable but poor girl her whole world came crashing down and what a revelation too for her,- she is dead ringer for Paro who is her new found love's late wife!!
She was so excited thinking that the portrait belonged to her and imagined that's the Rudra envisions her in 'desi' avtaar, so she wanted to surprise him, and boy did she receive a harsh surprise in return :-(

And what was all that outburst that Rudra mentioned, that Myra only has Paro's face but is not her and he hates her and all, dude does that mean you dislike Paro's face?,.... Rudra has not changed much in past 7 years, when he gets angry he starts spewing nonsense...tut..tut ..

And glad that Mohini's characterization is intact!! For a moment I thought age and being a grand mother had mellowed her down! She is still the unscrupulous person she was :-0

Precap is interesting, lets see how they take it from here.

Oh by the way we know a little more about Rohit today, he does yoga in the morning, party's at night an in between manages to work too!!!- wow! ;-), takes care of his health, has a social circle an works to earn a living too, is single, looks like no baggage and Myra wants Rudra- huh???!! Go guess ;-)

  2. In relation to previous post @ Ratna,

Hi Ratna glad to hear that you are feeling much better now than few weeks back concerning RR! :-))
I agree with you in the fact that the CV's are enjoying their perverse idea of MYRA= or not Paro! Also this may be their was of keeping the audiences curiosity intact, because many fans want to see their Paro back. Also this way they have two options open to disclose at the end. But if the curtains are coming down to the entire show what was the need to kill Paro, I am also baffled??!!??!
As far as Maithili's characterization now, I am loving it :-) In yesterdays episode she clearly told Rudra she is fine by any of his decision and in case her decides to move forward with his life she would be the happiest and she has no problem with Myra, she in fact is a nice girl, but Rudra is not attracted towards Myra, he see only Paro's face and probably got carried away at the moment, so she wants to prevent the impending doom if the relation proceeds in that direction to both Rudra and its completely unfair to Myra too. She has proved that she loved both of them equally and is only thinking of their best interest.
Archana's reply to your post is something I totally agree with.

Plus I don't think Maithili wants Rudra to forget Paro, she merely wants him to move on with his life, ( whether he get's married or not ) find closure with his past and not brood about Paro.
One can never forget his/her loved one no matter what relationship, but what they say- 'Let bygones be bygones' , I know easy to say difficult to follow but one must try, you have other/ future relationships with you, waiting for you, let them not be affected, and Paro being the person that she was will completely agree with it :-)

    2. Hi Madhu, I am secretly wishing for the same as you all are, but I am also preparing myself for the worst, because I don't trust these CV's at all!!!!! specially GH, that guy is obnoxious, hmrph......and with them tweeting statements like "Such is life" and what not, looks like I want to prevent a heartache for myself!!!

But belatedly I remembered that you were the one who had predicted that they would reveal Shantanu as Varun's brother and it came true, so I hope your prediction turns true this time too!!!!!!!! ;-) :)

  3. The saddest part about RR ending so soon is that we never got to see the promised story, as envisioned by Saurabh Tewary. His story appealed to us, but sadly it is the TRPs that generate revenue - hence we do not count. Paro was killed in a last ditch effort to save RR - unfortunately, it was too late. This fiasco reminds me of Gul's comment that she would like to start telecast serials for the internet based audience, if only she could figure a way of monetizing it. I think she is right because only then will PHs have the freedom to tell the complete story they started out with. The current format of storytelling is too capricious, leaves one & all dissatisfied by the end.

  4. Hello people,

As usual, didn't watch the episode yet. Too many things happened after RR 2.0 kicked off. Uffff..... Now I understand why the CVs are travelling at jet speed. The characterization is amazing, but the characters are not consistent, the flow of events don't make sense. Now how do we hoodwink the audience? Increase the speed of the show. Aided by a convincing cast. I just read the written update and waited for Dia to write her take. But I haven't read her take. Just so that I don't get influenced by someone's perspective. Whatever, I am going to write here is completely my own thought process and does not reflect anyone else's opinion.

Old habits die hard. Mohini kakisa... I am not happy with the way her character has been reduced to that of a joker in RR 2.0. But her greed is still intact. Hope the CVs make some use of this trait of hers.

Dad / sons trio. Danveer and Samrat / Sumer. Freebies from RR 1.0. Kuch khaas nahi hain. But they are harmless and very rarely they serve their purpose.

  5. Shathabdhi. Same as the above. She brought some change in Sumer post-marriage. That alone, I like.

Maithili. The only sane, consistent character in RR 1.0 and RR 2.0. She had some low moments. But that is ok. Not everyone is perfect. She broke her promise to Paro and told Rudra about Paro leaving them forever. As a result of which, Rudra emotionally blackmailed Paro to stay back. That was very sweet of Maithili. Wish she had done the same in RR 2.0. She should not have listened to Rudra and should have told Myrah about Paro. The resemblance part. She didn't. :( :(

Myrah.... New addition to RR 2.0. I am writing about her because I believe she is Paro. Wishful thinking, I guess. Honestly, I didn't like her manners in the beginning. She is loud, brash, spoilt, and intrusive. And definitely not like a NRI. Took me a while to get used to her. The CVs decided to create a character who is diameterically opposite to Paro. They should have done a complete 180 degree turn. Not like what they have done to Myrah right now. The way I see her now is that she is neither Paro nor Myrah. If the CVs wanted to confuse us by swinging her between two extremes, it is fine. But there is no reason why she should love rudra, just like Paro. Paro had a reason, Myrah doesn't have one. Not even for a school girl crush. If she finds Rudra attractive and if she is infatuated because of that, I would completely agree. That seems to be an honest reason, after all. The guy is good-looking enough to make a girl like him. But no one knows why Myrah likes Rudra. Not even Myrah herself. She started getting all those signals, even before she knew and understood Rudra completely. At this point, the only logic I would accept is that Myrah is Paro. After seeing what she has been through so far, I only feel sorry for her. Let's see how the CVs take this further.

  6. Rudra... Confused about him. He acts like a matured guy one minute and the next minute, everything blows in my face. He was balanced enough to make friendship with Myrah, support her when the entire Ranawat family was upset with her culinary skills. That moment, I thought that Paro's efforts had not gone to gutter. And now, why is he acting like the old Rudra? Sometimes, it makes sense to see him like a guy without an emotional balance. Because that is what he is. Not a matured person emotionally. But when I think of Paro's damage control, his behaviour doesn't make sense at all. I feel sorry for him one moment and the next moment, he does something to wipe off that feeling completely. Looks like he doesn't differentiate Paro and Myrah. And he is having feelings for Myrah (may be Myrah's face), that he doesn't want to admit and face. I will watch him for a couple of episodes before I decide to thank the CVs for killing the second half of RR.

I will be a hypocrite if I say that I don't enjoy the episodes. They are light and good. Most of the characters have lost integrity in the last month. I don't care anymore, as the show is ending in another 3 weeks. The next time, I decide to watch a show, I will wait for 2 months and then decide to watch it or not. Needless to say, it will be a SI show for sure. Had huge expectations on RR, as she was the FL. Now, everything has come crashing down. The only saving grace is the actors of the show. I do feel bad for the producer. Because somewhere, someone has done a fatal error which has caused a great loss, not only to the PH and the CVs, but also the channel. As far as the channel is concerned, I am not watching any shows of colors after RR.

  7. Hi Dia

I am at a loss to know what is going on. Why kill off the FL when the show is closing. Just no sense at all. Saying that whatever seems to be thrown at lead actors they just seem to take it and run with as best as they can doing a brilliant job. It show what talent they actually have.
Like all of you who have commented, is Myra, Paro or not, that is the million dollar question.
Myra doesn't know what being in love really feels like as she is getting married to her friend for the sake of her family, whether pressure has been put on the couple to get married is another question. Then comes along a attractive man who turns her world upside down and she is lost to the feelings of the first buds of love. He is caring, wanting to protect her, and gives off so many mixed signals to this very confused girl that she thinks that he feels the same and in her mind the picture proves that.
The first bud of love bursts and dies just a quickly. Poor Myra, someone should have had the courage to tell her the truth.
Let's wait and see how it all turns out.
Thanks again Dia for the updates, always love to read them.

By the way Dia - Downton Abbey to start 5th series in September.

    Take care all

  8. Watched the episode - it was very painful because all the links were bad at the exact part where Rudra sees Myrah dressed as Paro! Grrr!
Anyway - I am so not amused with Myrah. Seriously I wish they has sketched the character a bit better. I just don't get her. She thinks the picture is hers - that Rudra painted it in 5 days (3 of which he hated her)? And off she runs to break off her engagement - with no confirmation? And she does this over a video message. She should have played it back - she would have seen how stupid she sounded. Sorry guys - I continue to think Mryah is an airhead and cannot get myself to feel sorry for her. Show me some background story on her and I'll feel sorry, maybe.
I am not supporting Rudra's behavior today but I do feel sorry for him. Poor guy - what a shock to see Myrah not only look exactly like Paro but dressed in Paro's clothes! And she continues to blabber about their feelings for each other. No wonder he lost it. He wanted her to stop - stop NOW.
What was Myrah to think when she saw her painted portrait? What I would think is - Run baisa run - this guy's been stalking me! He has painted a portrait of me and is hiding it in his cupboard!!! But that's just me and my Mumbai 'born and raised' suspicion of everyone :p
I really wish they did not show the kids hiding and listening to everything. That was not right.
As for Myrah, she better snap out of this loveria and get back into her true form - as Paro :D

    1. Archana: Rofl... :D :D The CVs are hell bent on destroying the FL's character. They could have done so much with Paro. Alas... that's a gone case. But with Myrah, they are not able to do justice to the character because of time constraint. As a viewer, I was not able to bear the suspense of the show's future. Hate to think of what the team would have gone through. I am trying to get used to Myrah. That's all. And I completely agree with you. She is just behaving like a school kid here.

Rudra is back to being his old self. Snapped out of Myrah's maya. Not sure how the CVs are going to take this further. Hopefully they will give us a pleasant surprise by handling the situation in a matured way. Myrah has got her reality check. First from Maithili and then from Rudra himself. Rudra also has come to his senses. I guess Rohit is coming to India. So, what next??

    2. With 3 weeks left let's hope CVs have decided whether Myrah is Paro or not. As for Rohit - I really did not want to go there. He sounded awful. Kya awaaz, kya English. No accent. Sounded like he was talking from Punjab ki kheti. No wonder Myrah avoids talking to him;) Chalo yeh bhi ayega - at least he's decent enough to come down to Udaipur to see what happened to Myrah. And I hope he beats up Rudra for playing with Myrah's emotions :D :D
