12/9 - Epi 184 ... The Reformation of The Shrew

Friday 12th September

The shrew turned out to be woman with a heart after all ... total turnaround ... after one lecture from Myrah, and eavesdropping on one Myrah-Maithili conversation, where Maithili extolled Mohini's virtues ... enough to melt Mohini.

Okay, she had shown some signs of being disturbed about Maithili leaving and the effect on the house ... and we don't have enough time for a more gradual melting ...

Quick update ... am trying to get some other work done as well

Episode was decent, tying up of more loose ends - this was a big one Big smile

Myrah is determined to make Mohini realise her mistakes before she leaves ... she proceeds to upset all the 18th century customs the Ranawats have been following for years. Okay, I didn't mind this ... in this day and age for the women to be serving the food while the men sit and eat, is ridiculous. It was nice to see that all the men supported Myrah and were okay to changing this silly custom. Bringing the Ranawats into the 21st century Tongue
Mohini saw that Samrat and Maithili still feel bad for her. Probably the only two who did. That paved the way for her transformation ... and the M-M conversation did the rest.

Myrah - Maithili conversation was nice ... I actually felt bad for Mohini, and agreed that she had struggled a lot to keep the house and family together. Maithili is sweet to not hold any grudges at all. Agreed with Myrah - what planet is Maithili from? The same planet as Paro, I think ... both hold no grudges, although Paro was stronger than Maithili.
Although I did feel that Maithili glossed over a lot of stuff ... including the murder attempts on Dilsher, Rudra and Paro .. the attempt to get Samrat married again without his consent ... the connivance with Tejawat ... Mohini got away with a lot.
Felt that Mohini's sudden tears were a bit contrived ... that eavesdropping scene, and Mohini's instantaneous turnaround was not very convincing at all.
However, we don't have time for more. Confused

Loved the way Myrah was playing with the baby ... both were adorable! It was more Sanaya than Myrah Embarrassed

I liked the family drama and the way Mohini swept in and took over ... that was more the Mohini we know ... soppiness is not Mohini's style, even in remorse and reparation. Ashish's BD was an eyesore in that scene ... tried my best to ignore him completely. Confused

Liked the way Sahatbdi asked for her share of thanks, and Mohini told her to come back tomorrow. LOL Again, typical Mohini ... and Sumer's laugh was typical Sumer ... he is a good actor! No wonder he is getting new offers already.

Liked also the way Mohini thanked Myrah for bringing her a new grand-daughter, and for bringing Samrat and Maithili back ... agree with Mohini that Myrah was responsible for both those events.

Loved the way Myrah backed away from the family scene and left quietly ... loved her expressions at that point.

And loved the Myrah Rudra scene ... again, Ashish and Sanaya just have amazing chemistry, be it PaRud or Myrah Rudra ... and both are fantastic actors ...

When did Rudra want to see his family together and united? That was Paro's dream, not his. Confused
Forgot, this is Rudra 2.0 ... he is Paro's Rudra, so her dreams are his.

The last bit of the scene, when Rudra cradles Myrah's face and wipes away her tears ... the voice modulation from both, when Myrah whispers ... 'pyaar, sachha pyaar, bina koi expectations ...' as though describing her own feelings ... and Rudra's single, whispered, anguished, helpless 'Myrah ...' as though he wants to say much more, but doesn't know how to find the words ...  a wealth of emotion in that one word ...
Myrah holds his hand ... then suddenly remembers she was to keep her distance, and backs away ... the play of expressions on her face as she looks anywhere but at him ... and then leaves ... and Rudra stares after her ...

Fabulous acting again from these two. Day Dreaming I watched this scene quite a few times ... they were both so good. Will really miss this jodi Cry

And in the precap, as usual Rudra needs someone else to spell out his feelings for him. Paro understood him, understood his change of heart without needing to hear the words ... she put his own feelings into words for him. Now Maithili is doing the same for Myrah LOL

I'm not going to crib too much ... we're into the last week of the show ... am just going to enjoy the scenes and the amazing characters brought to life by even more amazing actors ...
Let's bid Rangrasiya farewell with a smile. Smile

  1. The most evil saasu-ma of the Indian soap land is reformed. Didn't watch the episode yet. Just read the written updates. So, not sure how the scene would be. Generally, I like such scenes, when acted well. I hope it is good. Especially when the actor is someone like Ananya. Just a small disappointment that it is not Paro who is spearheading the change. If I am right, Mohini overhears Myrah - Maithili conversation and has a change of heart. These changes could have been done by Paro also. It's ok. All is well that ends well. And what is it with Rudra? He does look like a guy who keeps changing his woman once in 8 years. Total Satyanash !!!!

    1. It was Okay ... not more, I feel. Ananya's expressions were good in parts, I felt the part when she was listening to Maithili defend her, and started crying was just about okay, not too convincing. But the scene when she comes in with the old clothes and starts telling Maithili what she will do for the baby etc ... that part was good ... she was in character and there was no soppiness. Mohini is not soppy at all.

I liked the way she thanked Myrah ... yes, the cvs are making Myrah the main heroine all right ... I feel shortchanged on Paro's behalf! She started the changes in the house ... Myrah has taken them forward and completed them. I wish it had been Paro completing them ... she did the toughest part ... starting everything off under tremendous pressure and complete opposition.

I am looking at Rudra as a new Rudra ... nothing to do with Paro. It's the only way I can enjoy the Myrah Rudra scenes ... Sanaya and Ashish are still doing a brilliant job, Sanaya is fine, she IS a new character ... Ashish has the tougher job because he's the same character, but the essence of Rudra is gone. So I can't and don't see him as Rudra at all. That's the only way I can enjoy their scenes.

  2. I liked this ... well written ... echoes the confusion I feel about accepting Myrah. She is Paro's reflection for sure ... in a modern avatar. So how does that make Rudra get over Paro? He doesn't ... he basically gets the best of both worlds, he gets the love of both the women ... don't know what he gave back/will give back to either of them.

He loved Paro, more because Paro needed him and showed it, she made him feel good about himself, and that reclaimed the man from under the Jallad.
Now he needs Myrah, she doesn't need him ... but she loves him anyway. Very weird confusing ending, where one is not clear about the motives and depth of feelings of any of the main characters ...

Chalo, chhodo ... a good show gone bad due to TRP pressure. Let's hope Sanaya's next show meets a better fate ... that girl is overdue for some luck.

  4. dia,
all i felt during epi was if paro had done this and dilsher, mala, sunehri all standing there, glad at mohini's change.though sudden,i felt ananya was very good in the scene with the baby.and i watch ashish now as a different rudra, not paro's rudra at all.

i've been trying to adopt the 'chalo, chodo' atitude for sometime.but today i was rewatching the epi where rudra comes to know about paro's pregnancy, and literally i had tears as i watched the last parts of that epi with all that horrible, teary BG music.seriously,WHY DID THE CVS HAD TO DO THIS?ARE THEY SO INSENSITIVE/MONEY=TRP MINDED?NO VALUE OF THE EMOTIONS/SENTIMENTS OF THE AUDIENCE?
AND their audacity to say '#suchislife ' and 'trust the makers'??

on a serious note,i really feel somebody shd file a case against ST and RR creative team[esp,GH,mukta dhond and ofc,the great BG music bhaiyya who tortured the people on a daily basis pre-leap and post-leap epis with horrible, tearful BG music and continues to do so,when flashbacks come.sadistic pleasure,i guess.] for emotionally torturing the loyal audience/people for no valid reason in BCCI/somewhere.
its ofc ur choice to watch a program, but that doesn't mean anybody can play with the emotions of the general audience, literally harassing them emotionally and ST and his team should be reprimanded for that.

'that girl is overdue for some luck. 'and for some awards too, dia.sanz did a wonderful job as paro and she deserves the best actress award this year more than anyone.if drashti can get one for the not-so-challenging role of madhubala, why not sanaya?

and dia, promise that u won't be inactive on the blog after RR ends.continue discussing YHM,EHT[do u like it?i like dr.dayal, dev and durga and ofc, simmone singh's acting as sakshi is great.],humsafars[dunno its good?] or any other show u watch.but pls be around.

AND PLS DO REPLY DIA AND EVERYONE.

    ratna.

    1. I like that guy ! These two people (SI and AS) are thorough professionals. One shouldn't mind learning such good things from anyone. SI, in her interview said it was no one's fault that things didn't work out. AS also has said something similar. He has tried to relate to the fans' feelings without criticizing his team. And to be honest, some part of the blame lies with the audience also. I mean, the TRP audience. I don't know much about the other states in India. But in Tamil Nadu, people (especially youngsters) have started liking many off-beat movies and such independent movies are doing really well, when compared to the mainstream big budget films with big shots. I hope this trend gets extended to TV industry as well. If not, I don't see any future for concepts like RR to be liked by the people.

    2. Nice article! He is obviously feeling bad too about the show ending, and appreciates that it has been the biggest milestone of his career till date ... I think we pointed that out here as well. Both San and AS are thorough professionals, and have worked on RR with complete dedication, giving it their best. I think that's why I'm resigned to the show ending, without any of the bitterness of IPK ... Here everyone tried their best, no one walked out, no one lost interest ... Unfortunately the show just did not get the TRPs it deserved, and let's face it, the story telling faltered in quite a few places too.

But at the end of the day, the show TRIED to be different, what can the makers do if the only shows which appeal to the audience are shows like SNS, DABH, KKB and the likes, with OTT dramatic acting, loud characters and stereotyped tracks. There is a problem in the way that TRPs are measured, 8000 people deciding what a few hundred million people should watch on TV is utterly ridiculous. That's why shows like 24, Yudh, and the likes don't get TRPs ... the saas bahu junta is just not ready for such shows. Even a KBC gets lower ratings than a SNS, so does a Satyamev Jayate. Until the rating system is overhauled, the future of shows and makers who try to be different is bleak.

    3. Ditto on your take on the trp system dia. I was expecting the show to stretch till the year end. Just a fan's teeny-weeny wish. But the channel has other plans. After watching Ipkknd, I thought that there could not be a better looking Jodi than SI and BS. But RR proved me wrong. Sanaya looks good with Ashish too. I think the tea ad is a testimony to their compatibility as a reel life Jodi. They just looked like a couple in that tea ad. **Knockwood** My personal favorite would be the RR combination. And it is truly a pleasure to watch such good looking people with good acting skills. So i just wanted to see them together on screen for another three months. Alas, it was only wishful thinking in the end. And life goes on. Hoping that everyone who worked hard for RR gets his / her well deserved dues.

Apart from the show, I would be missing these conversations with you girls. It has been truly a pleasure to interact with each and every one of you.

Dia: Thanks a ton for giving me space in your virtual blog. I know that there has been clash of opinions at times. ;) ;) Still you have been gracious enough to let me comment and be a part of the group. Hugs and thanks once again. :) :)

Enjoy the rest of the weekend! :) :)

  6. dia,
i think ur busy schedule is not permitting u to reply.do reply to my post whenever u get time.
i just wanted to know what u felt abt RRs BG music[not the dhim thana, but other soft, melodious ones, mostly BGs of paro-mythili/parud emotional scenes.in my post,by 'horrible',i never meant the word meaning exactly[horrible are RR cvs and BG music guy who use it knowingly or not to emotionally torture audience].i just meant the BG musics/tones are tearful[mostly post leap and just before leap epis] and quite haunting, always reminding us of parud and i seriously feel uncomfortable and disturbed.[just help me out of this dia,i know u can.]

what do u all think about it?????

    ratna.

    1. Ratna, sorry for replying late, weekends are busy for me with my husband at home and catching up with family stuff. Also I'm busy with a few other things, so have been popping in here a little less, although I do catch all the replies here.
Regarding the music of PaRud being used for Myrah and Rudra, like I said, I have detached from the show sufficiently for it not to bother me too much. I do feel bad, but I watch Rudra as a new Rudra, like Myrah is a new character, this Rudra is new too. And the story has gone haywire, even Sanaya said that Paro was never supposed to die at all. When the cvs have lost the plot, then why feel bad for the characters. This is fiction, take it as that and move on. Right now I am watching only for Sanaya and Ashish, they are a brilliant pair, and watching them on screen is a pleasure. So that is all I feel ... Paro and her Rudra and her Dhruv are happy in their little world, and Myrah and Dhruv are their reincarnations ... Sorry, Myrah and Rudra ... iPad doesn't allow me to edit. The show is ending, not because of TRPs, but because of some other offscreen issues we don't know about ... let's leave it at that, and appreciate the actors for giving the show their best, despite it no longer being what they signed up for. I'm looking at it that way, and that's whybi am actually able to enjoy the myrah Rudra scenes ... Ashish and Sanaya still have amazing chemistry
