10/9 - Epi 182 ... The Heart of a Home

Wednesday 10th September

The heart of a home is the woman ... daughter, wife, mother, sister ... daughter-in-law, sister-in-law. But not every woman has it in her to be the heart of a home ... the one without whom the house will fall apart if she is not there.

Maithili is one such woman.

The heart of a home and a family is a woman ... a wife and mother. Without her, a father and son are just that - father and son. With her, they are a family.

Paro was one such woman. Myrah is one such woman.

Shatabdi can manage her own husband and child ... she can, and she will. But more than that, and without Maithili helping her at each step, she fumbles and falters. She definitely can't manage the entire family. And she doesn't want to. Besides, she and Sumer are both genuinely worried for Samrat and Maithili ...
So she and Sumer frantically try to call Maithili and Samrat ... everyone in the house knows that without Maithili, the house will fall apart. Everyone except Mohini accepts this truth.
Dhruv and Koel also miss Kaaki/Maasi ... and they're hungry. Rudra is cooking for Dhruv.

Myrah and Rudra ...
Myrah stands shellshocked by Rudra's sudden, unprovoked outburst ... does he really hate her so much still? What suddenly happened?
Rudra ... repentant ... he didn't mean it, didn't meant to take out his anger on Myrah ... anger and confusion directed at himself ... so he comes back and apologises ... or tries to. But as usual, he can't quite ... and Myrah has had enough, She never knows what he means, when his anger will erupt, and for what reason.
Reminded me of Paro telling Rudra that he's always angry with her, whatever she does ...

Myrah is beginning to understand more about Rudra slowly ... she understands his silent gesture of leaving the hanky, is his apology ... because he can't get the words out.
And Rudra comes back and thanks her for that ... for understanding him, for forgiving him ... for everything she has done for Maithili, for bringing a smile to her face, and solving a problem which no one could solve for so many years ...
Why could nobody stand up to Mohini for so many years, still puzzles me.

Myrah unburdens her own worry ... did she do the right thing? Maithili got her much longed for child, but lost a family ... everyone is missing her ... god knows how she and Samrat are managing on their own.
Rudra's turn to reassure her .. Samrat is fine, and everything will be fine ... she was right in what she did ... she shouldn't worry.
And another awkward silence ... before she realises his hands are on her shoulders ... and they both move back ...

Shatabdi Mohini -  Shatabdi makes dinner for her husband and daughter ... not for anyone else. Only her own little family. She's not as self-sacrificing and generous as Maithili, nor will she work so much without a word ... or put up with taunts and barbs non-stop, the way Maithili did. She doesn't know how Maithili put up with Mohini all these years. But she won't do the same. She's not Maithili.
Mohini tells her to keep quiet, but Shatabdi isn't done yet ... what did Maithili want all these years, in return for everything she did for the family? The right to adopt a child of her own? And even that was denied her. Just because it wouldn't have been Mohini's bloodline. And what's so great about Mohini's bloodline anyway? Sumer does nothing ... Rudra runs the house.
Nope. Shatabdi is in no mood to respect Mohini or listen to her ... Maithili would have been better off if she hadn't listened either.

Mohini wonders ... why is the house falling apart without Maithili? Is she really so important?

Yes, she is. Maithili is the heart of the house, of the family.

Myrah still lost, wanders into her room ... Rohit sees her tension, and tries to lighten her mood ... he can't fight on an empty stomach. Myrah has to laugh ...
Rohit plans dinner out ... and since Rudra is her bodyguard, he can come too.
Rohit's expressions are very watchful ... he seems to be observing Myrah's reactions carefully.
Myrah hesitant at first ... agrees ...

Rudra Dhruv Myrah Rohit ...

Dhruv isn't as tolerant of burnt rotis as his dad had to be ... he's too used to Maasi's good cooking.
Dhruv wants Myrah ... Myrah, looking ravishing in orange (Sanaya looked gorgeous, hair swept to one side, simple dress, simple hoop earrings ... stunner!) ... no wonder Rudra is lost for a moment, gazing at her.
The kaala teeka story doesn't work on Dhruv ... he wants proper food. Dad is not capable ... Dhruv wants Myrah to sort things out. Myrah will put things right. That's what women do always.
A woman is the heart of the family ... and Dhruv has chosen Myrah to be the heart of theirs.

When did Dilsher make Rudra laugh in childhood? I thought he was an embittered man all through, till he met Paro. Or does Rudra have selective memory?

Myrah offers to cook for Dhruv ... not her parathas ;) Rohit helps her. He really does ... the man is handy in the kitchen.
I like this Rohit more and more :)
Rudra watches as Rohit helps Myrah, both perfectly at ease and comfortable with each other ... they don't need his help.
Rohit smears Myrah's lip with flour ...

Dhruv doesn't want to stay alone ... so Rohit sits down to eat with him. Dinner plans cancelled.
Rudra comes into the kitchen to wipe the flour off Myrah's lip.
Rudra banna ... make up your mind ... either stay away from her, or tell her you want her. Stop this yo-yoing to and fro.
What am I saying ... this is Rudra!

Morning ... Three men in a Bed :) All squashed up too.
And Rudra is tensed to hear that Myrah is missing ... Dhruv got scared alone, so he came here.

One kostin ... after Rudra and Myrah are married, will Dhruv still sleep in the same bed? At age 7?!

Some renovations to the Ranawat haveli will be required.

Myrah returns ... and faces barrage of questions from Rudra ... and a couple from Rohit ... answers in the form of Samrat and Maithili and their baby.

Mohini is happy to see them back, but of course she can't show it ... that is defeat.
Again, Ananya's expressions here were spot on.
So the barbs starts again ... Samrat has to apologise. Or he can't stay, and neither can that adopted baby.
Myrah silences her ... this house is now Rudra's. So he gets to say who stays and who doesn't. And who apologises to whom. The end.

Next track ... Mohini's redemption ... can she really change, as Myrah demands? Has one day without Maithili knocked some sense into her?

  1. Ladies I had earlier mentioned about a serial on star plus called 'pyar ka dard hai' and that it has a similar situation of lookalike of dead/missing wife, loved, loved the way they handled the whole plot!!!!!!!, every family members reasoning , and looks like the lead are going to get engaged with a more interesting twist coming up, i am not a fan of this serial, but the male lead actors dialogue in today's precap was so heartfelt and convincing, have a look online!!

As for RR2 I am just watching it to see how they are gonna end it, looks like at least some characters are getting justice at the end because the story of the main actors love story is like seriously, WT*, ahh... forget it. :-/ :-(

    1. Just started watching it over dinner MB and you are right - they have handled it very well. ST and his team of Creatives could learn a thing or two about story telling............sigh................

Samrat and Maithili are found already? Mohini's redemption? Last shot today? Given RR's supersonic speed to wrap up issues, I am left wondering what do they have left to show over the next 7 episodes? Surely, the MyRud story can't take ALL of next week, can it?

    2. Ya Aki, the makers have done it very well, did you listen to the mother's dialogues today? She always opposed Ayesha ( the look alike ) and Adi 's ( the male lead ) relationship, she was afraid that her son would never forget his wife due to the resemblance and would be searching for her in Ayesha, but now she has realized that Adi looks at her like Ayesha and not his wife Pankudi.

Before all this the makers established a friendship relation between the two main characters, while the girl slowly started to fall for him and it was justified too.

Was this so difficult for the makers of RR to achieve? They already had a good story in RR1, but the story writers , good lord, they are way too arrogant, thick headed, *&!!@#..... I have a series of not so pleasant words for them,... enough said, :-/ :-/

    3. To give the CVs their due, they were really not given enough time to develop the Myrah Rudra story ... but on the other hand, the way they started it off, making Myrah a fluffy airhead with no baggage, showed that even if they had had the time, they didn't have the brains!!!

I used to watch PKDH off and on ages back ... havent watched for a while now ... but again there they develop the tracks very slowly and steadily ... the FL is/was always a typical soap heroine, in terms of being do-gooder, know-it-all types, but she was written well and so was the relationship. Haven't watched the show at all since Ayesha entered, but I can imagine they would have given her a decent storyline and a proper steady character ... while for Myrah, they just jumped all over the place ... from light and airy, she fell in love overnight, suffered heartbreak ... and matured overnight again ... but her falling in love never seemed to be deeper than a crush. And when the foundation of the love is so superficial, then how can the story hold any depth.

As for Rudra with his long impassioned dialogues about every breath being Paro ke naam till the end of his life ... to his overnight falling in love with Myrah with even less reason than she had to fall for him ... to his description of the six features of Myrah, which were actually features of Paro, and much stronger for Paro than ever for Myrah ... *head desk!!!!*

The writers seemed totally clueless how to take the Myrah Rudra story forward ... and obviously so ... when they again committed the same mistake ... they didn't give Myrah a properly written character! And to top that, they proceeded to butcher Rudra as well!!! How on earth they expected viewers to take to the Myrah Rudra story, just beats me!

  2. More adoption drama. Myrah does a Rudra. By standing in front of Mohini and shielding Maithili. If I remember correctly, Danveer predicted that Mohini might see this day, if she doesn't change. She didn't reform then, but the CVs needed Myrah Mehra to reform KcM. I don't know if something is wrong with me, but I am just not able to like Myrah. :( :( She is good in parts. But she is too interfering. Morning Breeze.... try to read Meenu's take in IF. She has described Myrah perfectly. Kind of echoed my thoughts too. She must be a fool if she cannot love Rohit. He comes across as a perfect gentleman. Btw, the RuRoDh early morning scene was hilarious. :D :D Chalo, something made me smile after a while. I am quoting the famous PP's tweet here, "Unless there is a kamaal ka twist on the way, at this point Rohit comes across as a perfectly nice and reasonable guy". Dia... I assume you know her. She has quite a fan following these days. :) :)

Rudra.... I wonder what AS felt while playing the character. When I started watching RR, I thought, "Chalo, ek ML character hain, who is a little human". My benchmark for Rudra was ASR and I liked Rudra. ASR was rude, brooding, arrogant, adamant, egoistic and I could go on. Despite these qualities, ASR was an adorable idiot. ASR had a bad past too. But the handling of ASR's dark past had some subtlety to it and BS did well in those reflective scenes. Rudra wasn't arrogant and egoistic. He didn't come across as a typical Mills & Boon type hero like ASR. Unlike ASR, he was open and honest. ASR's main problem was because he never had a direct and honest conversation with KKG. Also, once Rudra realized his love for Paro, he never missed an opportunity to say how much he loved her. That is something ASR never did for Khushi or I don't remember him doing it. Having described so much about Rudra, I must say that I cringe every time he is in the vicinity of Myrah. I liked the way he was trying not to want Paro, yet wanting her and failing miserably to hide his emotions. That was sweet. The same emotions played by the same person (and character) doesn't sit very well with me. I like Rudra for the way he adored Paro, even though he was a dakkan may times. I believe that his love for Paro defines the character's integrity. That has also gone for a toss. Anyways, will watch till the end.

Aki: I guess it is ok to mention the upcoming scenes. Once the adoption drama wraps up, Maithili will try to bring Rudra and Myrah closer. That will be the next step.

Thanks to Dia and Su for replying to my comments in yesterday's post.

Had the story been given proper treatment, RR would have been a bigger hit than IPKKND. Alas.... Ab gayi bhains paani mein. :( :(

    1. Nice post Madhu. Agree with you on all counts. I just cannot like Myrah (although I adore Sanaya). And I cannot come to terms with Myrud - too soon for me. I cant believe how they flipped Rudra's character.
And if Myrah changes KCM overnight - wth!!!

    2. Thank you Archana. I am feeling a bit melancholic after watching the off-screen segment today. Ashish was absent, as he was busy shooting for Jhalak. The cast of RR are the clear winners in this whole mess. I guess SI already has an offer. Sunehri is already working on a different project. From a couple of posts in IF, I gathered that Udit (Sumer) too will have something up his sleeve very soon. I am not sure what's cooking on AS' side. He might not pursue an acting career. Or that is what he says. But, I am happy for the actors. Especially Udit, who will be doing his first ML role. Everything happens for a reason. The cast of both IPKKND and RR are extremely talented. The popularity and recognition that the IPKKND cast enjoyed was something the RR cast deserves, but they never had it. I guess even the channel would not pay a glance at the team now. Hmmm.... I only wish good luck to all the actors of RR, who with their impeccable acting brought a crappy script to life. Hopefully, everyone gets good projects very soon.

      Cheers,
      Madhumitha.

  3. Typo again.... *he was a dakkan many times.*.

Dia: Loved Ananya's expressions when she sees Samrat and Maithili again. Waiting to see if she really changes. And how Ananya does in those scenes. :)

  4. @madhu mitha: i think you have summarized my thoughts on Myrah and Rudra 2.0 precisely,
Paro and Rudra were 2 beautifully written and well portrayed characters, its hard to hold up rr 2.0 to the what RR originally was meant to be,

    1. Kiran: Thank you ! After two days of non-stop bashing, it took some serious effort from my side to write something neutral, and if possible, positive. Though Paro and Rudra were not given consistent portrayal, the intended meaning of their relationship was conveyed to the audience. Thanks to those initial episodes. In RR 2.0, that is clearly not happening.

Morning Breeze: This is MBC news report for you. :P :P

    2. Also I feel that the CVs are deliberately trying to show the FL powerful than the ML. That doesn't work, atleast for me because Myrah was extremely irritating in the beginning. Then she was clueless for a while. And now she loves Rudra. As for Rudra, the CVs have decided to make the new entry stronger at his expense. That is all I can say. Despite the tweaks made to Rudra, I love the father in him. He may not be able to handle his son at times, but he is truly a good father. I am eternally grateful to the CVs for not messing the father Rudra.

    3. I don't mind Myrah now at all ... I didn't like her in the beginning, but she has settled down a lot. But I can't like Myrah falling for Rudra ... and I definitely can't take Rudra falling for Myrah and fooling around with her in front of Rohit ... worse, Myrah letting him. As an individual character, I like her ... she's using her money and her clout for other people ... I'm fine with that.

Rudra has been compromised hugely ... that's for sure ... I wonder how much of it is also due to his absence because of JDJ. The last couple of weeks he was around a lot, then the last week again there have been lots of BDs and very few Rudra scenes, his scenes have been very obviously cut and paste. I wonder if AS had been more available, would they have shown him working more with Myrah, rather than Myrah doing everything alone?

Anyway ... all water under the bridge ... the shoot has wrapped and the show will end next week. Let's hope for some good news from Sanaya's end within the next couple of months ... it's going to be a long couple of months otherwise! :(((

    4. I doubt if AS' presence would have impacted the script in any way. I am surprised how the same brain could function differently in two different times. If I remember correctly, BS was absent completely for quite a number of episodes after the first kidnap in IPKKND. They were able to run the show with KKG & Co.'s detective efforts. And the episodes were not bad either. And not to forget the fact that KKGSR was written pathetically towards the end and ASR's character remained intact till the end of the show. Probably that's the reason BS is popular even now in spite of not working in TV anymore. His popularity after 2 years of the show ending never fails to surprise me.

In RR, only one of the leads can be intelligent at a time. That has been the case since it began. My POV is that the CVs probably understood that making the FL weaker was a bad idea after all. So, they are now showing Myrah as the troubleshooter. Pity... because had Paro been kept alive, the CVs could have achieved the same thing within a month and the fans also would have been happy. Killing Paro and bringing Myrah was a recipe for disaster. Now the makers don't even want to give a logical end to the story. Like SI said it would be good if Myrah and Rudra part ways and remain friends. But we are going to get a Rudra-Myrah union for sure. Again there is an error in judgement here. The CVs probably understand now that the majority of the audience is not rooting for the traditional happy ending. But it is too late for them to do anything. And there is some surprise element left in the show. May be that is the 'Kamaal ka twist'. I just hope it is not Paro's ghost talking to Rudra asking him to move on. I only wish it is something more believable, even if it is filmy.

  5. I stand vindicated ... in today's SBS, even Sanaya said that Myrah should have walked away ... she wasn't rooting for a Myrah Rudra ending. I love this girl ... she is so straightforward ... she says it like it is.
