7/5 - Epi 93 ... Blast From the Past

Wednesday 7th May

Quick update ... when I saw the promo, I didn't like it at all ... Rudra's 'Patthar hun ..." etc was very theatrical and artificial ... and Paro's lines about Bholenath melting seemed out of place.

But the way the scene played out in the episode was so much better ... I loved it. And Paro's words were beautiful ... he says he is a stone, a fire ... she replies ... moorat patthar ki, diye mein aag ... and then goes on about why does the sun rise in the east, why is the world round ... there are no answers for some questions ... and why does she love him, is one of them.

Will update the rest later ... rushing for work, and today was a really beautiful episode ... except for Rudra's nth breakdown !!! Even that was slightly better and more restrained than usual.

*Edit*
Episode starts with Rudra releasing Paro's hand ... she stares at him for a moment, then takes his rebuff in her her stride, and offers him his medicine. At that he cracks ... Why? He's been trying to push her away, he has nothing to offer her ... how can she keep loving him? He is fire, he is stone, without emotion (without emotions?! Then what were all those 50 breakdowns all about?!)

And Paro answers his questions with some of her own ... why is an idol made of stone? Why does a diya hold fire? Why does poison fight poison? Why is the earth round, the sunrise in the east ... why, why, why ... so many questions which don't have an answer. And neither does his. She doesn't know why she loves him, why she keeps loving him, despite his best efforts to push her away.
He wants to push her away to save her from himself ... he will destroy her ... she doesn't even understand how much he's injured from within ...
But she does ... he told her himself, when he was not in his senses ... she knows.

And her clear eyes, her calm acceptance ... her knowledge of the man he is, free him ... she has seen him at his worst and most vulnerable ... now what is there to hide ... from her?
So Rudra lets lose his control ... and seeks comfort ... he lays bare his heart, his hurt, his wounds ... he's tried to move on ... but every time he does, his past sneaks around and holds him back ... and pushes him to the ground him all over again.

'Your maasa.'

Two words which stop him in his tracks. Yes, she knows ... the root of his wounds, is the betrayal he has never quite gotten over.

She encourages him to speak ... let it out ... and for the first time, he does ... talks chokingly of his childhood ... ac childhood spent in waiting, waiting for a mother who never came back ... he scattered, broke ... and then hated ... it was easier to hate than to cry. Yet he still waited ... and she returned ... the woman he tried with all his might, to hate ... she came back ... not in tears, and crying for having left him, but happy, secure, complete in her new life. She didn't need him, she didn't want him ... the son who had waited all his life for her. She would laugh at him for waiting for her, for she had moved on a long time ago.

And as he tells Paro all this, his deepest hurt, his sharpest wounds ... he clings to her hand as though it's a lifeline ... drawing strength from it, from her selfless love ... the love he's been starved of since childhood.

And he starts to tell her who his mother is, where he saw her again ... but before he can tell her, the phone rings, with the news that a woman has escaped from Tejawat and come to him.
And hope rises again in Rudra's heart ... the hope he can never completely stamp out ... the hope that his mother does regret leaving him, and will come back ... is this her? Has she fled from Tejawat and come back to him?

Why oh why, did the cv's release the promo showing it was Laila ... the way they built up this scene, all towards Rudra expecting to see his mother ... the slow walk to the front door ... with all the flashbacks going through his mind ... the buildup was perfect ... but for the little problem ... the viewers already KNEW it wasn't his mother! So the entire tension fell flat.
And Ashish was again OTT in this part ... and during the long walk to the front door ...

Flashbacks of Dilsher telling him not to trust beautiful women, Mohini fake commiserating ... and the last meeting in the rain ... as Rudra builds up the courage, and the hope ... of seeing his mother again. And as he opens the front door, and Paro comes up beside him, he holds her hand firmly ... for strength. He needs her ... at this moment of his life ... he needs Paro's calm strength, her quiet unflinching support ... without it, he will collapse.
And Paro looks at him wonderingly ... the first time he has reached out to her ... needed her, wanted her with him ...

And they stand together, holding hands firmly as the woman reveals her face ... Laila.
Yep, we knew it all along.

Paro recognises Laila, and moves behind Rudra ... this is the woman who tried to kill her.
Rudra does not want Paro to see the seedy side of his past life ... he tries to shut her inside the haveli door, and send the BSD man away ...
Laila starts her nautanki ... Tejawat tried to kill her because of her relationship with Rudra ... she ran away.

How did Tejawat know ... she fumbles with the answer, and turns his attention to her wounds ... and then does a fake faint ... which galvanises soft-hearted Paro into action ... they have to look after Laila.
Terrible acting .. by Laila ... or by Ankita? :)

The rest of the episode was Laila nautanki ... the most interesting part was that Paro knows that Laila loves Rudra ... as she points out with calm common sense, if a woman she doesn't know, attacks her out of nowhere, it's not rocket science that she feels Paro stole something from her.

Rudra doesn't trust Laila an inch ... soft hearted Paro says they have to take care of her anyway.
Rudra says Laila is untrustworthy, she's worked as khabri for him for a long time, he knows her ... and she tried to kill Paro.
Paro replies, so did you kill my husband...
Rudra's reply is swift ... he wasn't your husband!

The man is possessive ... Paro can be no one's but his.
8th vachan, Rudra? ... he will never be Paro's. Seems like he just broke that one too.

Paro calmly points out that yes, Varun wasn't her husband, she misunderstood the situation, and look how much pain that gave her. So give Laila a chance.

Rudra isn't convinced at all ... and hurrah, he uses his brains! Calls Aman ... is there any activity on the Teju front? Could Laila's story be true? Finally does some fact finding before making a decision. Looks like Paro's calm good sense is already having some impact ... or maybe, now that he's sure of Paro by his side, his brain can work in other matters.

Paro looks after Laila ... instead of Paro distrusting Laila, she asks Laila if she trusts her!
Laila does nautanki of being bechari ... Paro stuns her by telling her that she knows Laila loves Rudra ...
Laila tries to tell her it's over between her and Rudra ...
Par already knows that!

And Laila does nautanki of leaving ... of course Paro will stop her.

Laila was obviously faking ... or was it Ankita who was unimpressive? Ashish was good today, more restrained than his usual breakdowns ... except for the last tears and the walk to the door. Sanaya was lovely as the calm, strong Paro ... the strength behind her man. Her dialogues in the first scene were lovely.

  1. Dia: *hugssssssssss*

    I loved the episode today.

You know why Paro-Rudra are one of the most special couple we have seen on TV?

    They talk to each other.
    They communicate.
    No sugar coating the truth.
No lies just so the other does notget hurt.
    Truth.
What they feel towards each other.
Reason behind their actions & reactions.
    Seedhi baat.
    No Bakwaas.

She loves him, she expresses so by way of words and actions.
He loves her, he expresses by way of not many words but actions.

She stubbornly wants him to accept it, embrace it and start living in the present, look forward to the future.
He stubbornly refuses to accept it, embraces it as his past continues to haunt him every single time according to him, he has tried to move forward.

He makes another valiant effort to push her away giving her enough reason to run away from him as he thinks he can only hurt her.

She makes another valiant effort to pull him towards her, giving him enough reason to stay with her so they can truly begin their journey.

He finally crumbles, as he desperately holds on to her trying to break free from the shackles of the past and comes this close to telling her about his Maa-sa/her Thakurain Maa-sa.

He is not entirely wrong when he says Past continues to haunt him.

Just when he is ready to move ahead, his past comes knocking.
He dreads it is his mother.
He is stunned instead to see Laila.

The walk from their room to the door, did anyone notice how beautifully shot the scene was- the colors, the sets, the art direction, Lighting, everything - absolutely PERFECT!!

He braces himself to face his own mother, subconsciously holds on to Paro, as unknown to him she has become his strength when he needs it the most.

    Again a nice twist.

Laila almost gives the full picture.
    We were friends.
He had no other feelings for me.
I made the mistake of falling for him.

    Paro the Smart Woman.

    You love him.
    I figured it out.
Otherwise you had no reason to attack me.
    It had to be him.
    I understand.

Paro is a smart, strong, perceptive woman. Rudra has invariably underestimated that part of Paro hasn't he?

Imagine his surprise when he tries to explain what transpired between him and Laila, how it crossed professional boundaries and (hopefully) Paro calmly countering him with:

    Do you love her?
Have you had any relationship with her ever since we got married?
Do you intend to have any relationship with her in future?
If No, then it does not matter to me what your past was.
I am only concerned with OUR present and future.
So long as it is just the two of us, others should not matter, right?

I loved when she referred to Varun as her husband and he immediately flared up, he was NOT your husband (Possessiveness at its peak)

She immediately assures him, she does not consider him her husband either and tells him to be patient till they figure out a solution for Laila.

    Awwwwwwwww......

It is pretty obvious that I loved the episode today isn't it?

Par woh shwets ka comment hi kya without some Faltu Gyaan, that would be uncharacteristic right?

    Faltu Gyaan from today's episode.

Every angst ridden hero's Shaatir Dimaag works only if it continues to get the most important thing in obviously a visual form as in just looking at it, works wonders.

    ****************VITAMIN L*************************

ASR's Shaatir Dimaag worked so long as he could see Lavanya daily.
Rudra's Shaatir Dimaag has started working as soon as he saw Laila.

Ex-GF + Vitamin L = Smotth working of Shaatir Dimaag.

ps - Ratna, I posted something for you in yesterday's post, plz do read.

    1. I posted early just for you, so am thrilled to see your post here already! Yep, loved the episode too ... the only crib I have is ... WHY that promo???!!!
The whole scene was a set up that Rudra was expecting to see Mala ... the slow walk, the fbs, even the audience was supposed to believe this was Mala. BUT they had both the promo and yesterday's precap showing that it was Laila ... so the suspense was totally PHUSSS!!! ... how completely idiotic!!!

    2. And did I forget to say ... LOVED your post and your complete take ... now do I need to bother to write a take? You said everything I wanted to ... and much better!

Yes, this couple communicates ... I love that!
And Paro is strong and very perceptive ... don't mistake silent for dumb ... she knows why Laila attacked her, it was obvious. Now I want her to have that talk with Rudra about it ... and how will Laila ever get between them when they both know where they stand?

    3. PHUSS....Exactly. I sort of expected atleast one whole episode where they talk about this. And when he walked up to that door, thinking it was his mom (great piece of writing btw), I wondered, why are they building faltu ka suspense we know it is Laila.

I have now realized that RR Writing Team is Mohini, unfortunately they have Sumer in their Promo cum Marketing department*head desk*

What is interesting here between what Laila and Rudra's version is both have left out an important aspect of their relationship to Paro.

Laila on her part did the best she could, practically letting Rudra off.
Rudra on his part should have admitted that she was more than a khabri.

Will wait and see how he tries to explain as he needs to come clean on that issue.

If at all that becomes an issue and Laila or Mohini taunt Paro, If I have read Paro correctly, she will not be the one going all insecure or jealous.

She is more likely to say to either of them, So what if they had an affair, post marriage he has not gone back to her has he, so why would I be worried?

It is Rudra I want to see getting all hyper, insecure, riled up. THAT is more fun.

We got a glimpse of that in That guy was not your husband. So this present track need not be all sad, they could have some fun with this.

      Dia: UPDATE!!!

    4. Shwethu can't agree more than what you said yaar!! Enjoyed yesterday's episode. Loved the way you write in serious tone. I must admit you are good in serious role too... You have summarized beautifully:)

I love Paro even more with each episodes. She may not be educated or know the harshness of world like others. But emerges as the strong one with her crystal clear perspective about life(that's because of her faith in Bohlenath). She surprises me by being very simple to the core, which is the most difficult part in this complex world. Sanaya is brilliant as Paro. I too think Paro will be matured in handling Rudra- Laila angle. Would love to watch what you have predicted. Rudra being insecured & possessive. As this couple are communicating better, hope he comes out clean about his past with Laila. Then our Paro will handle everything. Between Paro must not think of sacrificing her place for Laila before he comes clean...for that she must know Laila's true intentions too. I have faith in Paro's smartness ...( as you said Mohini should write this track ,not Sumer).I'm looking forward to this track.

@Dia saw your post regarding Promo in IF also. Ignore those setbacks from PH. This show has lot of promising factors to enjoy. I want to enjoy with you by my side .. ment by reading your posts.I really couldn't sit with you for CC. Though I like Sanaya, that's not my cup of tea. So looking forward to read yesterday's episode.

Even before joining IF for IPk , I found out your blog first. So let's just enjoy what's good in this show...end of the day it's just a daily soap. So ignore those build ups. On a lighter note Dia, I think Rudra has not seen the promo, only we the audience know who's at door... So cv's took lot of time with mommy fb there.Cut them some slack. As Shwetha pointed out that scene was picturized well, I liked the Mirror scene when Rudra remembers Paro, that was also done well.

a good interpretation of promo from IF.
"NO no...its not looking awkward...paro comes looking all happy...and than she twirls sunehri(or something like that...) Rudra comes ...it seems like he was following Paro...than Paro starts dancing...and than Laila looks at her and joins Paro...Rudra looks at Paro happily dancing..a small smile playing on his lips..." 7. I have to add here ... Rudra is a really well written role ... when I write about him, I can feel the emotions flowing. Unfortunately, Ashish is not conveying that so well on screen ... dunno why. I haven't connected with him on screen, he doesn't tug at your heart. But when I write, I realise what a good character he is.
