15/5 - Epi 99 ... An Affair to Forget

Thursday 15th May

Laila overdose ... the woman was literally in every single damn scene!!! GRRRR!!!!!

Nice parts ... Rudra tells Laila that eating burnt sabzi was his compulsion, not his choice. And he has tasted better food now, which he prefers. And tells Paro to make him something else tomorrow.
Laila got the message all right.
Rudra goes back to caring husband ... Paro forgets about Laila, and enjoys his care and attention.

Paro hears the Rudra Laila convo and directly asks Rudra for an answer. Direct and straight forward as usual.

The rest ...
Laila realises Rudra hasn't told Paro about their relationship ... and he's scared to tell her. Bas, that's all she needs! Rudra is not amused by her taunts ... and holds her wrist to threaten her ... mistake ...

Paro scared by the thunder ... Laila sees her approach and immediately starts nautanki ... leave my hand, Rudra ...
Paro, direct and straightforward as ever ... asks Rudra what the matter is ... Rudra stomps off in a rage ... he doesn't owe her any answers or explanations. Mistake again, Rudra ... you left Paro at Laila's mercy ... which she took full advantage of ... Grrrrr

And then he proceeds to wonder over exactly that ... Laila's taunts, which hit a bit too close to home for comfort ... is he scared to tell Paro about his relationship? For fear of what Paro will think? Why should what Paro think, matter to him?

Laila extremely satisfied by a good day's work ... but she isn't done yet ...
So she escorts Paro back to the room ... Paro, shake the woman off, for Gods sake! Grr!!

And then proceeds to take advantage of Paro's temporary blindness, to fiddle with her things ... grrr, I HATE women who do that ... and this was Laila, picking up Paro's bangles, her sindoor in an entirely proprietary way ... hears that Rudra bought Paro those pink bangles, and promptly wears them herself ... grrr!!!
I spent a lot of time during the episode gnashing my teeth at Laila's antics ...

Paro still guileless, answers Laila's questions about her missing mangalsutra, but asserts there was no fight between her and Rudra ...
Laila tells her that once the bandage is removed from her eyes, she will see clearly again ... fiddling with Paro's sindoor ... I thought she was going to put that sindoor in her maang and was getting ready to smash my TV ... fortunately for my TV, she didn't ... she went off, just as the lights went off ...

Rudra comes back ... worried how did Paro get back to the room ... even more worried when Paro says Laila brought her ... so what did Laila say to Paro?
Paro is evasive .. something about my bandage coming off and being able to see clearly ... Rudra is even more perturbed ... don't let her talk crap with you ...
And Paro asks again ... what is the matter? Because she's sure something is ...

Before Rudra can say anything, Laila is back with a candle ... and some more honeyed words, which Rudra can see through instantly ... enough to set even Paro's unsuspicious brain into thinking mode. Which was Laila's intention all along, of course.

Can Laila please stop entering PaRud's bedroom every few seconds?! Its the room of a married couple, for Pete's sake! Why doesn't Rudra throw her out?!

I liked ... his annoyance at Laila ... why are you wearing Paro's bangles?
Message to Laila again ... hers, not yours ... bangles, and the person who bought them for her.

I didn't like ... that he let Laila keep them while he took Paro out of the room ... not that he will let Paro wear them again once Laila has touched them ...
He's got no choice ... he has to tell Paro the truth now ... otherwise he knows Laila will ... in the worst possible way.

So Laila exults ... while Mohini wonders ...
And I think ... someone get this overacting ki dukaan off my screen ... now!!!

Hopefully now that Laila has wrought her destruction, she will leave ... and let Rudra and Paro get on with their story. Today seemed like a filler to set up the base of the next phase of the PaRud story ... tomorrow the real tension between them will start.

Paro's tension will not be because Rudra has a 'past' ... that he had an affair. Her tension will be ... that affair lasted eight years, with a girl who was in love with Rudra, yet Rudra gave her no commitment, never loved her back. An affair that Rudra entered into knowingly, of his own will.
What hope then for Paro ... for a girl whom he was forced to marry, against his will, only to save his job? All her dreams of Rudra accepting her as his wife, even maybe loving her back in the distant future ... all those dreams will crumble ...

  2. Dia: Why doesn't Rudra throw her out?

My Question - Why doesn't Rurda lock the damn door every single time?

Maybe the guy is thinking, Kya Faayda, honay to kuch wala nahin hai:(??

  3. This just occured to me and I could be right here, everyone who is worried about Rudra going missing during JDJ

    Think again.

I remember during MB, DD used to be there throughout.

I think there is a pretty good chance so will Ashish.

    You know why?

There will be the audience who watch RR who will tune in for Ashish.

There is also a good chance that those who see Ashish for the first time and start like him
will tune into RR for him to check out his show plus him.

In that case, you can't NOT have him in the show.

Just my out of dabba thinking, do give your views.

Sorry for being MIA, Enjoying the discussions, for some dumb read Tech reason, I am able to post at R&R only from my desktop and not from my phone:(

If anyone has any solution to this strange problem, plz help me out so I can bak bak more:)

  4. Continuing my spamming here:

Ratna: Unfortunately invariably popularity at IF seems to be inversely proportionate to the TRP Numbers.

We might not like Laila track, which has not been that greatly handled frankly, the fact is invariably in love stories the negative characters do seem to be bring the couple closer.

So it is not that Laila track is working but her presence is helping Paro-Rudra relationship getting stronger. So she will continue to stay for a while till they figure out the next track.

    Bringing Tejavat /Mala:

Array if they are wondering how to show the actor getting changed, they can simply use the kekta maiyya formula of saying, the guy got a plastic surgery done to avoid getting caught.

The general audience takes the change of actors in their stride as they are more invested in the characters than the actors playing them.

The 100th episode, they can celebrate it offscreen, currently they cannot afford to deviate from their story and the general audience does not care if it is 100 or 123rd episode, the continuity of the story is paramount especially with their numbers being not that great that they can get away with it.

Who knows you might get a nice precap and an offscreen segment tomorrow.

Mala, the actress is currently shooting for some movie, so till she is free, I don't think they can bring her back, unless they decide to change both Tejavat and Mala.

The marriage track was done in a hurry and not well thought out. We have had so many hate marriage tracks in the recent years that only happy marriages can get you ratings. People are going to be put off, Uff wohi hate marriage track.

The best way would have been, if they had shown the same social workers angle in a different way.

A complaint could have been lodged against Rudra that he promised Paro marriage in return for her testimony by anyone say Sumer instead of the photograph that he took.

Rudra getting questioned by VK Singh as it was Rudra's plan of marriage and being advised to get married to her since it was his brilliant (NOT) idea.

Rather than the whole I worship you marriage we could have had both the protagonists reluctantly entering into a marriage - That would have been slightly different. Ofcourse too late now for that.

They brought up the mangalsutra issue today so I think we are in for another wedding - Official and simple one.

Madhu: Official welcome from my side:)

Agree with you, Mohini is the best.

Ankita is out of her depth - She is trying too hard.

She needs to learn from Ananya Khare - You can be mean without being loud or dramatic. Hope she will improve.

    1. Loving your bak-bak, Shwetha.

Agree with you about IF and TRP numbers being inversely proportional. The TRP viewers want a cohesive story. And RR has been consistently failing on that. Be it jet-speed track closures, or the incontinent characterizations. Hopefully, after the past revelation, we would have a cohesive story. Finally, the writers are going back to what hey had promised us. Just hope they trust their product enough to continue.

Ananya Khare is a fabulous actress. Although she is known for her negative roles, she was equally good as a strong, silent woman in Mahayagya over a decade back The show had powerhouse performers like Govind Namdeo and Rohini Hattangadi. Ananya managed to hold her own pretty well. Ankita, on the other hand, totally pales in comparison.

    2. Dia, I understand your frustration. Especially when Laila wears (and still wearing it) Paro's bangles.

Shwetha, thanks again for the bak-bak. Agreed that Laila no-last-name has been a couples therapist so far and has succeeded in bringing Paro and Rudra closer. But I am a little scared of her now. The great Rudra Pratap Ranawat himself was scared of her. She has used her Brahmastra this time. I am sure Paro wouldn't leave Rudra until his right hand gets better. But the dynamics between them would definitely(?!) change after the confession. Hope Paro doesn't do anything stupid. Fingers crossed.

  5. Jayu, Rekhs,Aki, Dia:

My take on Laila is simple.
She is not white - the whole hurting Paro, sort of takes that part away.

We ideally should have felt a bit sorry for Laila.

Rudra had a relationship with her for 8 years.
He promised her nothing, she was okay with that.

She fell in love with him, Rudra clearly told her not to be his biwi or expect anything from him in one of the earlier scenes.

She was okay with the arrangement as He was faithful (as awkward as it sounds) to her for 8 years. So even if their relationship did not have a legal future, she was content in knowing that the only woman in Rudra's life will be her only.

Rurda in all fairness, would have continued the arrangement if Paro had not come into his life and he had not been attracted to her from the word go.

One of the best Parud scenes has to be his reaction when he finds out Paro is getting married.

In a way, he too has been caught up in the series of events that have shaken his entire eco system.

It was told that before leaving for his new posting, he had broken off with her. It was Laila who followed him.

So he is a pretty fair guy, you have to give him that.

When he knew, he was going to be posted somewhere, he broke off with her.

As far as he was concerned, it was FWB situation with no strings attached.

If he had the slightest inkling, there was more from Laila's side, the guy would have refused to have anything to do with her in the beginning itself. Which is why during Haldi he was stunned to hear Laila had some feelings for him.

I am one of those who is not very happy that he let Paro overturn his decision to not allow Laila to stay. Somewhere I am guessing more than Paro, those 8 years count for something and in that moment he allowed Laila to stay giving her the slight benefit of doubt or till he could figure out the truth.

Right now, with the Tejavat theory being strengthened, he allowed her to stay, apologized to Laila even.

But he is not a complete fool as it was shown today.
He could see right through what Laila was trying to do and was on instant alert and confronted her straightaway.

The scenes/convo Laila has with Rudra, if you dig deep, are supposed to give a little bit of sympathy towards to her, but unfortunately Ankita is not able to get that from the viewers.

    1. Aki, watch it, it was a good episode. The dialogues, the screenplay, direction were very good.

My idea of a good episode is simple - If it manages to hold my attention for the 22 minutes, it is good enough. It did today as it has been fairly consistently for the past few weeks.

Rudra is faced with the reality of having to tell Paro the truth. Watch as he struggles and comes to a decision to do just that even if it means falling off the pedestal.

Paro is immediately sharp enough to sense the tension between Rudra and Laila and asks them outright.

Samrat-Mohini conversation is oddly heard by Dilsher, wonder what is going to come out of that.

Plus they have beautifully set up the stage for tomorrow's scene.

Watch it, you will like it:)

    3. I wondered about Samrat too ... I think because Rudra is going to be missing, or Ashish, rather, they NEED a parallel track ... Dilsher helping Samrat start something on his own, would work. Dilsher amd Maithili between them, holding Samrat's hand and helping him emerge out of Mohini's overbearing shadow.

    4. Hi Aki :)

I agree with Shwetha. It was a good episode. The only episode whole week that managed to hold my interest beginning to end.

      Delete
    5. That would be interesting, Dia. They do need to develop the parallel track. Lot's of scope there. It would be interesting viewing with Mohini struggling with losing control over the family.

      Delete
    6. Really do hope they give Samrat/Maithili a parallel track - they are very good actors and deserve the space........it would be good to see Dilsher being utilised more and Mohini having someone and some thing else to fret about than just ousting Dhuan Kumari & her favourite oont... ;) ... a complete multi-faceted story.......kuch zyada nahin mangte.....

  7. In spite of the Laila overdose, I actually liked the episode today.

The stage is set for the revelation scene tomorrow. Laila had some hard-hitting words for both Rudra and Paro. And it seems Paro is not going to take the confession well. Really glad about that. Rudra was under the impression that he could just throw Laila out of his life, and start afresh with Paro. The past has caught up with him.

Some interesting dialogs today. Kudos to the writer.

EXACTLY MY THOUGHTS ECHOED!!!!!ONLY DIFFERENCE IS THAT I WAS ENRAGED TO NO EXTENT THAT I WANTED SOMEONE TO COME AND DRAG LAILA OUT OF THE ROOM AND THROW HER OUT OF THE HAVELI.
I HATE LAILA AND HER AWFUL BG MUSIC! KAAKISA SEEMS SO CLASSY IN FRONT OF HER.NOWADAYS IT SEEMS A RELIEF TO SEE KAAKISA ONSCREEN.
I TOO AGREE WITH SHWETHA,THE MENTION OF MANGALSUTRA POINTS TO THE POSSIBILTY OF A REMARRIAGE OF PARUD.MOREOVER,EVEN TRP AUDIENCE ARE QUICK TO NOTICE SUCH THINGS.
I THINK ANKITA IS WATCHING ALL THE KEKTA SERIALS LIKE KSKBT,KZK,KGGK,KASAMH SE AND ESP.THE VILLAINS IN THESE.NO WONDER SHE LOOKS LIKE A NAUTANKI QUEEN.AND SERIOUSLY.HAVE THE CVS LOST THEIR COMMON SENSE TOO?WHO ON EARTH ENJOYS WATCHING LAILA AND HER ANTICS???[SEEMS GH DOES.]AFTER WATCHING LAILA,I THINK EVEN DEEPALI OF MB WAS MUCH TOLERABLE.BUT THIS CHARACTER TRULY TESTS THE PATIENCE OF LOYAL AUDIENCE LIKE US.

AND DIA,THNX A LOT THAT U TOOK SO MUCH TIME TO GIVE SOME WONDERFUL REPLIES TO MY POSTS YESTERDAY.AND SHWETHA,WELCOME BACK.MISSED U SO MUCH.

DIA, AND OTHERS,I HAVE SOME QNS REGARDING THE FUTURE TRACK,POST REVELATION,PLS DO REPLY
1.AFTER THE REVELATION,WILL PARO GO INTO THE SACRIFICE MODE AND FORCE RUDRA TO ACCEPT LAILA? THE WHOLE FANDOM SEEMS TO BE DREADING THIS TRACK.

2.WILL SHE REMEMBER HER PROMISE THAT SHE GAVE TO BAAPUSA AND HER OWN WORDS TO MAITHILI LAST DAY AND STAY BACK,ACCEPTING IT AS RUDRA'S PAST AND NOT BE SO CORDIAL WITH LAILA HENCEFORTH?

3.LASTLY,WILL LAILA PLS PACK HER BAGS AND LEAVE????SERIOUSLY,ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.HOW MUCH CAN WE TOLERATE.I HOPE THE CVS VISIT IF/READ THIS POST TO UNDERSTAND WHAT HEY HAVE DONE TO THE SHOW.THE TENSION BTW PARUD CAN CONTINUE WITH PARO'S INSECURITIES AND RUDRA NOT BEING ABLE TO MANAGE HER SILENCE AND TRYING HARD TO BRING HER BACK TO NORMAL.

OUT OF THESE SCENARIOS,WHAT DO U ALL THINK WILL HAPPEN?DO SHARE UR VIEWS.

    1. Ratna, I doubt Paro will go into the sacrifice mode. If anything, it would go against her beliefs that Rudra and Paro are what the God ordained. Having said that, the revelation would make her question her said belief. Confused how they would take it forward. Can we have a third option where she is not all okay about the past, and does not go into a sacrifice mode.

Sorry to be a bearer of bad news, but Laila is apparently here to stay... according to Ankita's interview at the Colors website. Fair enough, as long as the negativity and specifically hamming is toned down. Would take angst between Paro and Rudra any day.
