14/5 - Epi 98 ... Ishaqzaade

Wednesday 14th May

First of all, Laila dear, Paro knows very well the rotis and aalu sabzi Rudra has been eating all these years ... he's made it for her and fed her himself. More to the point, hope he realised what Laila was up to.

So Mohini and Laila reach a truce, as Laila realises her plan backfired spectacularly ... she has no choice but  to toe Mohini's line.

Maithili is one fierce lioness protecting her little sister ... she's damn cute! Loved her today facing up to Laila with answers for all Laila's excuses for going to PaRud's room.

Can Rudra please tell Laila that it's bad manners to enter a couple's bedroom without knocking? Grrrrr!!!! Better still, can he just shut the door when he's planning a quiet dinner with his biwi?

Paro was thoroughly enjoying all the attention from Rudra ... her turn to behave like a spoiled brat, and lap up all his concern and worry. He even apologised to Maithili ... that was cute! And sang Kuch Kuch Hota hai for Paro to make her smile ... aww ...
Might as well enjoy these cute moments before the next storm hits.

And for the first time, the awareness between a man and a woman steals in ... Ishaqzaade ... another uncut to be made today :)

No precap ... what does that mean?

More later :)

  1. dia,
my first reaction is BETTER COLORS MAKE AN UNCUT AND AIR IT DURING ANY REPEAT TELECASTS,THAT WILL BE A DELIGHT TO WATCH!

    NOW,COMING TO THE POINT,
i think almost everyone in this blog now knows of my hatred to laila and this track.so i won't waste ur time in ranting abt that again.but still,
I HATE LAILA AND THE CVS FOR RUINING RR. [SORRY,CAN'T HELP IT :-))]
i would like to raise some questions regarding the current track of rr and dia,i hope u do take time and respond to this in detail.so here we go:
1.what are the cvs really upto?is the laila track a desperate measure to bring in the trps?or to let ashish off for jdj/have they really run out of ideas/are they under the impression that people love the laila track and that awful bg that accompanies her/dont they visit IF at all?i dont really understand.actually, from the POV of trp audience, who will tune into a serial that has so much negativity and plotting and planning[i know parud scenes are good but seriously, the entire epi is filled with laila ]?nowadays, the uneasiness seems to radiate out from rr .i dont like to say this but the stark
difference btw BI and RR is so clear.there are not much complications in BI.

2.are the cvs going to ruin the 100th epi with the revelation?cant they show something nice.the latest TC article is also in the same line[read in it somewhere that paro is going to be numb,etc..]will paro go to the sacrifice mode after being emotionally manipulated with laila acting all bechaari post-revelation and force rudra to accept her and then leave?dunno if it will play ot/not.but i think GH may even resort to show like that too.in my POV,the cvs have completely lost it.

3.my 3rd qn. is little odd.will ashish be as commited to rr as drashti was to MB during jhalak?i admire drashti for that.she never let MB suffer, there were no change of tracks in MB,no/very less BDs,and she was present in almost every scene.not only that, she never left MB midway and still continues to be a part of it.[she is reported to have got many big budget film offers but she refused saying her priority is her show] if sanaya had got jhalak instead of ashish,i'd not hve been worried but i dunno abt ashish. sanaya would also have done what drashti had did. so i'm still not really pleased with the fact that ashish is a part of jdj and i really dont want rr/the loyal audience to suffer bcoz of that.

4.bring back mala,if not tejawat.why cant they start the mala track after parud sort out their problems.and pls no sumer-laila,bring nandini instead/no one but not laila.show more of aman,vk singh and geetanjali[atleat on phone]

7.my last query, what will happen in the show now post-revelation??dia,if possible, can u make some sort of prediction for the future tracks.others[shwetha,lakshmi.ritika,jaya,etc]can join in too.

    expecting ur reply.

    ratna.
HEY,WILL POST 5TH AND 6TH POINTS AS NEXT POST.BLOG IS NOT ALLOWING ME TO POST EVERYTHING TOGETHER.

ps: shwetha, where r u?and forgot to mention, loved all the parud scenes today

  2. MY REST OF THE POST.PLS DO COMMENT.

5.copy pasting something from my previous comment, would love to see these points being discussed.
i know that most of u didn't follow QH here but i'm foced to make a point on it.during may-june 2013 period,QH had asad-zoya romance and all the rasms leading to the nikaah[which didn't happen then]but QH MADE THE IMPRESSIVE CLIMBING UP OF TRPS OF SOME 2.2 TO 3.8-4.1 RANGE DURING THAT PERIOD AND THEN THERE WAS NO TURNING BACK.even with ksg leaving and the recent 20 year leap, the TRPS aren't affected much.i think that gul had a right timing, captured the req.viewers and now rr is suffering inspite of good story, cast and promotions.[i think i got the facts right correct me pls if i'm wrong somewhere]

i want to make it clear that i don't believe in the trp system, but would like to see good ratings for rr too.
6.#my point was i dont have much bharosa on B&B[esp.bhaiya].somebody should knock sense into their heads before its too late.and if thakursa is not available/has quit, why can't they bring back sadiya and start the much-awaited mala track.that will bring in the much needed drama quotient to satisfy GH but pls,cvs put an end to laila track and make the paro leaving track intense and romantic rather than dramatic and negative and dumb.pls.
the insecurity track can be her distancing herself from rudra[after laila's exit with having some doubts on rudra and laila's truth]while he responds in the opposite.now, that'd be fun to watch.won't it?

    ratna.
    ps;and why no precap?

    1. Ratna,
Will try to tackle some of your issues ... see, first of all, RR and BI are poles apart, so don't compare them. BI is a rom com, it was never meant to be dark or passionate, it's more like a High School Musical kind of show, with very standard characters ... I don't watch it, so really can't say more about it, but the whole set up of BI is much lighter than RR.

RR was supposed to be a dark show from the word go. The characters were all very starkly etched, the hero was a Jallad, the heroine was white, the villain was a scoundrel with no redeeming qualities (he seems to have added invisibility to his list of accomplishments, but that's another issue). The setting is also much more serious ... a border love story, with a backdrop of gun smuggling and terrorism.
It is a different matter now, that they have dropped all these things which made RR truly different from all the other shows out there, and reduced it to kitchen politics, which is what we really can't stand.

About Laila ... she was always going to come back once PaRud were married, it was only a question of time. She is one of the roadblocks to the PaRud love story ... her character sketch was pretty detailed, much more so than La's ... eight years, physical relationship, khabri, she is in love with Rudra. The problem is the way they have brought her back. If she had been in cahoots with Tejawat and out for revenge, against Rudra for turning her down after eight years of faithfulness from her side, without a second thought ... and hatred for Paro, as the girl who took him away ... so vowing vengeance against both of them, it would have made more sense. Here all she wants is Rudra back ... okay, even that is understandable ... but the way they have brought her back, linked through Mohini, and playing these petty games, is grating on the nerves. One cannot understand why Rudra, who is supposed to be so smart and sharp, can't see through her instantly and throw her out, and ignore Paro's pleas. One also can't understand why Paro was so keen to have Laila in the house against Rudra's wishes ... she doesn't know Laila from Adam, except for the fact that Laila tried to kill her ... even if she is not jealous of Laila, that knife incident should have made both Rudra and Paro doubtful of having Laila in the house.

What they could have done is made Laila enter through a pretext of helping Rudra with his work ... something which he couldn't avoid, and neither could Paro ... like tracking the missing girls for example ... since they wind up as prostitutes, Laila could have gotten news of them through her more shady contacts ... and they could have built her return that way.

Hopefully with Rudra telling Paro about his relationship, Laila will have to leave, at least for a whle ... and we will get the focus back on PaRud.
Again, with JDJ coming up, and Ashish off for rehearsals, there might be a problem with that too ... in which case, they need to start a parallel track ... again the same problem as IPK, none of the parallel tracks seem to work, only PaRud do. The show is too heavily dependent on PaRud.

    3. Re your comparison with QH ... they did do the wedding with all the rasams in RR, but that didn't help much with the TRPs. I think it was too early, and it was a forced wedding, there was only hate between the couple ... so no romantic moments. I don't know what happened in QH, but I'm guessing the atmosphere was far more positive there, and also there have always been very strong parallel tracks in QH, Gul learned her lesson with IPK, and made sure she had 3-4 parallel tracks in QH, be it Ayan-Hum, Nikhat, Najma, Haider ... here we don't have any solid parallel track. Again the problem with Sanaya shows ... she seems to suck the light from the screen, no one wants to see anyone other than her and her costar. It happened in IPK, it's happening in RR.

Re Ashish ... honestly, I have no clue. He seems very dedicated to the show, and also seems grounded ... on the other hand, he has BW dreams, and he's getting the chance to perform in front of KJo ... he will give JDJ his best shot. That is the down side - and RR will suffer to some extent for sure.
The good thing is that if the judges are impressed enough with him, they will watch at least a few episodes of RR, so hopefully he will know that and continue to give his best to RR too.
But I have much less faith in the guys than the girls on TV ... Sanaya and Drashti seem far more dedicated to their work than the guys, who all are interested in BW. Don't blame them, opportunities are there for those who look for them ... and they are entitled to look out for themselves. But I just hope the show doesn't suffer too much ... if necessary, Ashish can even be dropped for another actor, as the craze for him is nowhere near the craze for BS, and also channels and PHs have learned their lesson, and will not give in easily to actors' demands if they compromise the show. Not that I think things will reach that far ... I hope not!

But that also answers your other question ... why not Mala? They can't bring Mala back till Ashish is available full time. Also its the last few weeks of IPL, so this might be a holding track.

I'm hoping for some PaRud separation after this revelation by Rudra. So far Paro worships Rudra, she sees him as a man who can do no wrong ... okay that view is changing slightly, she has started seeing him as a husband she can talk to, reason with, argue with :)
But Rudra with a past affair is going to hurt her deeply ... especially as he made no promises to Laila even in eight years ... so she will feel that if he developed no feelings for Laila in eight years, is she deluding herself that he will develop any feelings for her ever? Especially when he had the affair with laila out of his own free will, while in her case, he was forced into marriage with her for his job, and he has told her often enough that he hates her. Even today he told her he was worried about what the Rakshak samiti would say ... of course he was bluffing, but she didn't see his face to see him fumble there.

I will be happy if that happens ... Rudra has gotten Paro far too easily ... it's time for her to step back, and for him to have a spot of realisation of how much she really means to him.

  3. Hello people.

Not sure where this track is heading to. Somehow Laila or Ankita or the character is not working for me. I like Mausam Kaaki's harkathein. She is double evil. But she is convincing in her role. I would not say the same about Laila. I hope Paro doesn't switch to the self-sacrifice mode. Bewakoof ladki is very much capable of do something suicidal like that. Let's hope atleast Rudra realizes that something is fishy. Fingers crossed about what is gonna happen in the next 2 weeks. Will Paro be able to accept Rudra after his confession? In the previous promo, she says that her love is being tested. Is this confession, one of the hurdles she has to jump? I hope the whole confession affair is just a transition from divine love to human love. Till now, Paro has always looked up to Rudra. Waiting to see her reaction after the confession.

  4. in defence of laila:
once upon a time in jaipur, there was an army man with a horrible past. his father treated him like a ninny because rudy dared to miss his mom. (ranawat had no idea why his wife left him, the girl who was, for all intents and purposes, the apple of his family's eye.. and seeing his son defiantly keeping her remembrance alive was killing the dad, and he treated his son with burnt food and bitter sermons. )

this army boy with pain in his eyes captured the attention of laila, the informant.. all masculinity, not a hint of softness anywhere.. "animal" she thought to herself, and made him her pet project.
and it was rather easy to lure him to her bed.. because he was not concerned with societal appearances. but she could not have all of him, he was not the type to make an emotional connection. Still, she reveled in the fact that she was the one who offered him solace when he ws upset.. be it only physical, it was more than anyone else could provide him. Her room was where he came, when he wanted to talk to someone.. have a bit of human contact.. and a woman's heart is such that this connection is more than enough to build a sapnon ke duniya. As he rose in the ranks and became an officer, a major.. she kept him company, in the shadows of the night. She did not want more, and in her mind, she was rudra's.

    3. I wouldn't call Laila white by any standards ... Any woman who tries to physically hurt, kill or maim another human being, to protect her own interests, without addressing the root cause of her troubles, cannot be white. At best, she is grey, dark grey ... with a chance for future redemption. That is probably why they have shown Laila to be impetuous and hot headed, rather than a cold blooded killer, that is what Mohini is. But it depends on how much depth they want to give Laila, and how well the actress can convey it. So far, the latter part is most suspect, Ankita as vamp has been the weakest and most unimpressive member of the cast till date. She might improve if she changes for the better, but she can neither convey passion or jealousy or even temper convincingly.

    4. I caught an epi of her old show with Barun where she played a "white" character - neither of the two were great shakes. Barun has a lot to thank Sanaya for - she really brought the best out of him.

My guess is that they are building up this track where Paro will feel like the intruder and begin to distance herself from Rudra - yes Ratna, the much dreaded self sacrifice mode will kick in. Rudra realizes he misses Paro and then woos her back. I hope the last bit does happen, but they might prolong that event if they plan to bring Tejavat back - does Paro leave with him? Does she get kidnaped?

    5. Are we talking about the character or the actor here? Are u saying that Laila is redundant or that the actor is not playing the role well?
I do think there is a strong defence for the existence of the character in the Rudra - Paro equation, the arguments about how it is dealt with by writers, may be another thing.. Jaya's point, I feel is, to draw attention to the backstory of the character. Laila has one, the narrative has clearly indicated that. For Rudra to have had a relationship with her, whatever be the nature of it...for a considerable length of time is proof enuf. More and more, as Rudra becomes aware of his so called human side, courtesy Paro, this aspect of his past is something he has to deal with;.he cannot brush it aside. As I see it, its for Rudra to ponder why he has not been able to forge a more fulfilling relationship with Laila and confront his feelings for Paro? I feel the emphasis on the duration of the relationship has to have some significance in the story for all the players involved. To me, Laila wanting to stake a claim on Rudra is a pretty natural thing in the circumstances, nothing to get hot under the collar
I don't know if i am perceiving Jaya's point correctly here but I feel she means to say, look at the character in the context of how it is placed in the story..not necessarily how it has been treated in the narrative so far ( that part is silly in all shows...it makes a mockery of most characters so whats to choose in there?. Television characters like Laila, are rarely dealt with any amount of seriousness. I don't know if it’s the lack of imagination or the lack of courage on the part of writers that's the cause. I feel Laila can be very potent as a character without all that mirchi and haldi business. Laila would be very effective merely by her presence in the Rudra-Paro equation. She does not have to maim/kill/harm to stake her claim. Her knowledge of Rudra, (whatever the nature of that knowledge, carnal or otherwise) even the hint of it has the potential to cause ripples in the equation. Laila as a white character…well Jaya…that I wont say that but I buy into Laila’s angst. She is established for me as a character of “hell hath no fury like a woman scorned” . I see a woman who is agitated that eight years have counted for nothing in the face of a lovesick Rudra for a woman he perhaps knows for lesser than eight weeks/months?? what Paro chooses to do with that knowledge is another thing. She can choose to see it as his past on which she has no control over or she can choose to make it a point for distancing herself from Rudra. In that sense, Laila can be placed a catalyst or a hindrance…u take ur pick.
Finally, it boils down to our sensibilities...We seem to be ready to accept Paro's devotion to Rudra without knowing anything about him but we are uncomfortable with Laila staking a claim on Rudra even though they have been in a relationship for a gud length of time. Since we have made up our mind that Rudra and Paro it is...we see all other angles from jaundiced eyes is what I wish to say.
On acting, i must say of the few scenes i have seen esp the one where she pushes Mohini on the swing, the actor had the swagger of a person who is ready to take the battle to the enemy. I thought purpose achieved in the scene, other aspects of passion, jealousy well i haven't seen and can't comment.

    6. Rekha, the character of Laila is a requirement of the story - no one has an issue with that. It is the treatment that the writers have given it along with Ankita's portrayal, that has robbed the character of its impact.
As said earlier, RR's ensemble cast is very strong and the story line(s) they started out with were captivating to begin with. Unfortunately, the creatives seem to have lost their way - thanks to TRP aunties or not, as the case may be.

    7. Agree mostly with Rekha on this ... Laila has the potential to be a catalyst in th PaRud story, she is a vamp at the moment, but she is also a woman wronged ... she invested eight years of her life in Rudra, and is entitled to feel aggrieved at being shown the door so unceremoniously.

I don't know if they can write her character with any depth, and I have my doubts as to the actress playing her ... but just in terms of her being such a big part of Rudra's past ... a women he did not commit to despite eight years of being in a relationship, she has the potential to cause havoc in PaRud's life. Paro is bound to wonder at her own position in Rudra's life, it is far more tenuous than laila's ... for Rudra, he may use Laila as a sounding board of sorts, as Rekha said, to figure out why he could never commit to Laila, while he feels differently for Paro ...

Paro can see Laila as his past over which she has o control ... but a woman has been in her husband's life for eight long years ... it should make Paro wonder at the strength of the relationship, vs the strength of her own. Just the fact that Rudra slept with Laila for so many years, shows his disregard for the institution of marriage, especially for a girl like Paro, to whom marriage and sex would be synonymous ... so if he was in a relationship with Laila, it was because he wanted to be in it ... while he has said time and again that he did not want marriage with Paro, he was forced into it. So my interest is more, how will Paro react to this disclosure ... not in terms of jealousy ... but more in terms of the security of her marriage. She just felt that Rudra has started to accept the marriage and her as wife ... his hatred has lessened ... how will this disclosure affect her?
