18/4 - Epi 80 ... Truth Begets Truth

Friday 18th April

Paro told Damyanti the whole truth, the entire truth, not a single lie ... and saved Rudra's job.

Damyanti asked Rudra one question only ... and he told the truth. A simple 'yes'. He wanted to marry Paro. Accepted it for the first time to himself, as well as to the world. And probably he was as surprised by the truth as Mohini was.

So today Paro saved Rudra's job most comprehensively ... a job he loves, and which he would have lost today through his own hot temper and lack of control. And he would have had no one to blame that on but himself.

And with Rudra's job being saved, the reason he had for the hate marriage is gone. But the marriage is very much there, that and his wife are not going anywhere ... they can't. Because Damyantiji still has her eyes on him, for one thing. So now where do they go from here?

I am looking forward to the next phase of their story!

Before that ... Paro tries to remove the bangles Rudra put on her injured wrist, and Rudra loses it instantly ... he can't take any rejection whatsoever from Paro ... despite the fact that he keeps dishing it out to her every so often. And for once Paro refuses to give him an answer ... and leaves the room.
Paro beendni is developing a little temper of her own ... she doesn't like it when Rudra unjustly accuses her of anything ... and her reply is to walk out. He can't stand that. Always works.
But this time it almost blows up in his face ... and he is overheard ... at the worst possible moment.
The episode was a roller coaster ... I thought when Damyanti heard and saw him, their cover was blown, and there would be a longer track to get his job back.

But Paro steps in and saves the day ... with the truth, and nothing but the truth. Right from the beginning ... yes, he has a temper, but that's just him. He has been her protector from their very first meeting, and that is the reason she loves him ... and yes, she wanted to marry him.
And so bemused is Rudra at her simplicity and her quiet courage, that the truth escapes his lips as well. He wanted to marry her too.
No wonder all his plans and strategies revolved around Paro's marriage ... that was the only thing on his mind!

Damyanti's remarks to Rudra were very nice ... short, sharp and to the point. Ending with 'look after her'.
And I liked the way she told Rudra how anger affects not only the one who gets angry, but also affects all those around. A home truth Rudra would do well to remember.
Also loved the way Damyanti told Paro, 'come to me if ever you need any help'.
Nice to see Damyanti give Mohini a sharp remark as well ... it could have been longer. Loved Maithili's and Danveer's expressions at Rudra's 'yes'. And equally enjoyed Mohini's fury!

So everything clarified ... Damyanti and Phulwari leave ... leaving Rudra and Paro most confused, bemused, and more than a little embarrassed. Don't know where to look, would be a good description ... loved the Rudra-Paro scene ... no words again between them ... just the body language, the expressions, the averted glances ... saying it all.

Rudra's conversation with Col Singh was very cute ... Seems Rudra is as nervous of Col Singh's wife as the Colonel himself is ... I hope Paro goes to the ball, and we see a nice interaction between Paro and Mrs Singh.

Aman's phone convo with Paro was adorable! Love this bhai-behen pair!

The last PaRud scene was very sweet again ... Paro getting all nervous and excited about the trip ... Maithili encouraging her ... then Rudra comes in most unwilling to take her, so Paro agrees that she didn't want to go anyway.

And in the precap ... Rudra discovers Paro's injury ... and also who inflicted it.

  1. Okay what happened today??? My head is ghera maarofying...Chakkar, circle reference.

First things first, the episode was good. Kuch zyada hi fast laga the way they were wrapping up tracks. Hopefully the story board for the next 3 months have been sorted out.

I loved Paro & Damayanti....All those who complained they do not get Paro, hopefully they understood where she is coming from as it was clearly spelt out today...

He saved her life, many times.
    Protected her.
Never took advantage or demanded any favors for this.
    She wanted to marry him.
She did get married to him, yup abruptly, but have no regrets.
He is a good man under the volcanic exterior.
What was also left unsaid was apart from a husband who is a good man, well settled in life, she also got a loving family.

She has only gained from the marriage. Sure it is not roses all the way but then life & relationships rarely are.

Now explain to me when Paro was recounting her side of the story, WHY WAS Rudra looking so damn clueless?GRRRRR.....

All I got from him today was:

Oh WOW, Did I really do all that?!!!

Awwwwww, she loves me, This is the first time I am hearing it.

    Duhhhhhhhhhh....

So who missed the cue here - Was it the actor, the director or the writing team?

I swear If I SEE another forced softening of expressions, clueless expressions from Rudra, I am going to wish for
bigaadofying mausam of the person responsible for it.

I am glad that Lady Damayanti gave it to Mohini as well.

So am guessing they have dropped Rudra being cook track for the ladies and have moved on to the next one?

This weekend hopefully RR Team sits and figures out the pace at which the show is going to stop from jumping around from one thing to another.

The editor needs to be whacked a bit, Rudra's haan, either should have come before the break or few minutes after the break.

Such a crucial Haan and when it came, atleast for me the impact was a little lost.

Also yaar is BG score waalay ko thoda mute may rakho, there are times, the BG is bang on, but rest it is blaring and the person needs to be told - sometimes mere silence can have a better effect too.

Who told the guy ki BG score hai toh bajatay hi rahna hai, grrrr.....

Sanaya was brilliant today and the actress who played Damayanti was pretty good and classy.

If they hurried through Paro's ILU, suddenly the awkwardness from Rudra's side looked a bit hurried too.

Dunno about the Jaipur trip, waisay bhi due to budget restrictions, one of the haveli room will be converted into Ball....Let us see...

Ratna & Dia: I pretty much agree with what you all discussed about the shows.

When RR started, it had pretty solid back up tracks - Samrat Maitli, Sunehri and her prince, Sumer with his Jaipur obsession plus Mohini-Dilsher-Daanver convos and ofcourse

    Rudra-Mohini
    Rudra-Paro
    Paro-Dilsher.
    Rudra - Aman
    Paro-Sunehri-Maitli

WIth so much potential of subtracks, I wonder why they are not exploring this further. The subtracks need not be all in one episode, atleast 2 or 3 scenes from each track alternate or every episode would give the balance beautifully.

As it is they might have to balance out, 50% Parud, 30% interaction of Parud individually with their family members and rest 20% standalone supporting cast.

Jo bhi ho, I wish the makers show the story they want to show, maintain the quality which has been mostly fantastic.

I would rather watch a good quality show for 1 year than a mindless show which never seems to end or which makes you regret watching it in the first place.

    Next week:

Rudra will get his job back soon.
Rudra is softening up towards Paro.
Paro is assured that despite all the drunken drama, Rudra did want to marry her.

    The question is now what???

Ek promo toh banta hai boss.

  3. Shwetuuu!!!!

Exactly!!!! WHY was Rudra looking so clueless? Paro was telling the truth, the exact truth and nothing but the truth ... why was he so baffled, as though he was hearing it for the first time?

Or was it because after he made such a royal mess of things with his temper ... this time if he lost his job, it would be HIS fault entirely, he couldn't blame it on Paro ... Paro stepped in at all? Anyone else would have told him ... ok, you big grouch, I've tried, you're just too self-obsessed with yourself and your pain and your own insecurities ... you're bothered about your job, but apparently not enough that you can control your temper. So now deal with it!

Paro stepped in even after he was being such a bear and an insensitive twit ... and she saved his job single-handedly. Maybe that's what surprised him so much. That she could talk so much sense ... after he spoke so much nonsense!

Okay, I absolutely LOVED Paro today!!! She was awesome!

I will also add ... Paro had no big dreams ... all she wanted was a home of her own, and a husband who would take care of her. No big romantic dreams about a prince on a white horse, or love ... in the situation she comes from, a man who doesn't beat his wife every time he gets drunk, and who earns enough to keep the house going, is probably the best she hopes for ... sad but true for many women in her position.

She got that, she also got a loving family ... she has gauged Rudra far more accurately than he has gauged her, and she knows that whatever he says, and however bad his temper, he cares for her in his own peculiar way, and he is not a bad man. So she is content with what she has got ... a man she can look up to and respect ... I still think she hasn't realised the depth of her own love yet, or explored all its varied hues. All she knows is that he matters a lot to her.

And of course this time it was all about his job ...a job that was a jeopardy because of her ... or so he said, and she believed. So she did all that she could to save it ... with no help from the man himself! And she succeeded.

I loved Damyantiji today too ... she showed that she was indeed a woman of experience ... I loved what she told Rudra ... control your anger, because it hurts people around you, and words once spoken cannot be taken back.
He needed to hear that his temper affects other people ... he cannot go through life erupting like a volcano, and having no consideration at all for the feelings of other people.

  4. Two possibilities mentioned on the main forum ... the shift to Jaipur ...

One, a shift from hardcore rural to urban, to draw in more TRP viewers, and general viewers also.

Secondly, to bring in the Nandini track and maybe Laila also.

Thirdly .. my thought ... to let Mrs Singh take Paro under her wing and give her a bit of town polish, as a BSD Major's wife.

Which reminds me ... HOW AWESOME was Sanaya as Paro in the last scene today, telling Maithili, with the mixture of excitement and nervousness, that she has never been outside Birpur in her life ... will Rudra even take her to Jaipur at all? Just felt like reaching in and giving her a big, big hug!!!

    1. I wanted to give Paro a biiiiiiiiiiiiig hug throughout and a big dandaaaaaaa to Rudra throughout....lol..

If they move to Jaipur, where will Mohini and co go and more importantly, what new characters they will introduce to be in a modern setting.

Rudra kaun sa city bred type hai yaar, ki they will give a makeover to Paro.

She looks and behaves more cultured than him.

And for that we will need a new character as Mrs.Singh.

I would rather they stay back, up the romance quotient, Rudra & Paro both thwarting Mohini, Aman Sunehri, Rudra atleast pretendign to search for Tejavat.

  5. Array tell me about Rudra...Can I be honest, right now I can actually see this show without Rudra cos the guy lost substance a while ago.

Banday nay kya kaam his since Paaro came into his life.
He has messed up everything up.
Paro was the one who gave the proof.
Now when his job is on the line, what has he done to save it except, sulk, rant, grouch....NOTHING...

Hopefully the upcoming Jaipur track, if there is gonna be one, should make me believe that this guy is a deserving guy for Paro.

Even if it is the guests who say He is a good guy, good soldier, just be patient with him. More than Paro, I NEED the assurance, lol...

Dia, very true, her expectations from a marriage are very different like you beautifully put. A husband who does not beat her up, can provide decently for her, has a family which loves her. Bas....That is enough for her. She recognizes that she has gotten all that and more.

As for Rudra, she doe recognize that banda is good but even she loses patience with him and walks away. So it is not she is being submissive, she storms off furiously.

I bet we are soon going to have Maan Jaana Paro scene pucca....MINUS the singing ofcourse.

I am excited to see what she will wear, hopefully it is a nice saree...

Have a feeling they wrapped it up couple of days earlier than intended as they want to show Rudra falling for Paro and being nice to her. That should be the new promo na.....Where is it grr....

    Will keep tapkofying for more...

  6. Hi Dia
Still following you updates and loving it all.
Sanaya is just brilliant and such a beauty into the bargain.
Hope this programme goes from strength to strength and showcases Sanaya for the actress she is. Ashish is very lucky to be paired with her. I love the relationship she has with her sister in law, always ready with words of wisdom for a nervous and sometimes confused Paro.
Thank you again Dia and everyone who comes here to make their comments.
Take care everyone and a very Happy Easter to all.
    Lin xx
