    Akshay Dogra ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!

    Bas!!!

Just watching PV and the guy is doing a great job.

4 lions are mental to have underutilized him so much.

Waisay Akash bitwa needs to trim his hair a bit, warna his hair is totally going to block his face and he is going to end up like Aabhas aka Shyam when his truth was revealed, remember the slap, and his expressions. Well I don't cos it was majorly hidden by that hair.

I dont want any one of you gals telling me, Shwets, Akash bitwa rocked yaar kya acting hai, bas could not see his expressions properly cos of all that hair:(

Missed me anyone?*just wondering after the above bak(was) he he!!

    2. Sorry yaar Shewthu, I am not liking Akash bitwa's lambe locks of hair and also his part in the show. He was better as the soft spoken Akash in IPK. And somehow me feels that stories when their premise is done should actually close off show - no point in dragging the show forever which is what PV has now become.

      ROFL...

      Shwetha,

      I am with Sarada here.
I liked him better as Akash bitwa, he had his good days too..
I really don't know what to call PV now...even HItler Didi si looking better. It is high time Gurmeet wanted an indefinite break.

    4. Su, do you intend to send everyone off with an indefinite break ? GC actually was on a break for 1 week or so to Hongkong to celebrate his anniversary. I agree with you. The show PV has become something akin to a khichdi. It is neither here neither there with the story. Better to close off now. PV happened, both accepted, former husband killed and so was the first wife. Now there is nothing much left in the show.

    5. ROFL ... Sarada and Su ... tum dono aise bol rahe ho jaise all other shows on telly are models of logical thinking and wonderful story-telling! At the moment, it's easier and faster to name shows which have some story to tell ... fingers of one hand are more than enough!

    6. Still Dia, when the purpose is served then don't you think they ought to close off the show. In PV all the possible loops have been opened and closed - beats me as to what all they want to show next. Maybe they will take a leap and the kids will have Punar Vivaah again akin to something that is being shown in Kya hua Tera Vada. I agree shows with logical stories are very less so we, the intelligent audience can't call shots.

    8. LOL.

      Sarada,
There is some dark past elated to papaji's past, I think.
I caught 5 min of y'day's epi today- was impressed with how they merged the story of Mahadev swallowing the poison and how Aarti realises she has to swallow (Ofc, figurative, in case you are wondering what is with snakes and poison in a tale of PV.LOL)this poison for her family's sake...ahem, Aartiji is proving to be the Adarsh Bahu....afterall, they do have the competition btn the bahus...so, *yawn* the story is not yet over.

Over to Shwetha- her decoding is much more interesting, we all agree. And I hope Gurmeet does not take that indefinite break for Shwetha's Akash bitwa's sake...

Hey, ever thought of this? If Gurmeet takes an indefinite break, they could kill off his character, make Akash's current wife the killer(she does have a motive, believe me.), get Aartiji PVed to Akash BItwa and reconcile him with his dad...Thank God there are no PV fans out here...I'd get an earful!

      Delete
    9. Su,

Thank god you are not an creative. You want Yash to be killed and Arti to be PVed to Akash. You are the only person who can think of something like this. And yeah hopefully none of the PV creatives look into Dia's blog or otherwise PV will never go off air and will be another Kyunki Saas with everyone getting PVed. Sheesh. The thought itself is scary.

enjoyed reading your take on things :) btw watched PV repeat today since i was home, seems like that dad had switched the DNA report and Yash and Akash were actually exchanged as babies, and ab tho yash found a tukda of the burnt original DNA report under his feet when the epi freezed :D more n more drama i guess

btw saw Dishu's character taunt n mock Akshay's character.. n i was thinking of u..both of shwetha's favs in the same frame :D

    8. Agree with you Shwetha. I knew for sure that bandage engagement, rain hug and Arnav's breakdown were Arshad's scenes before hand. All this time I was thinking the Diwali near kiss was LM's but baad main pata chala that it was also Arshad's direction. It is funny how LM is always like I did this for IPK, could have done better, will come back with a new show after 1 month with the whole cast - you know his statements are always over the top whereas Arshad calmly does his work and let's it speak for itself. It seems Arshad is also going to step into bollywood - just one wish I have is that Arshad ends up directing Barun. Both are so good offscreen and I know Barun would do awesome under Arshad's direction.

I got the feeling QH crew was excited about LM joining them. I think LM and Arshad have no ego hassles, thankfully.

  3. Veera ... Moti Chaiji chhaa gayi :)))
Be it consoling Ratan and being her strong pillar of support or be it acting the clown with the kids and over-exaggerating her nautanki of dismay at Veera's never-ending questions, she was adorable!

One thing I really like about this show ... they slowly and steadily close all loops. Now they start with the mystery of who actually delivered the cockroaches to Veera, that got her into trouble in the first place. And seeing the way they deal with things, am sure Baldev will be found out soon enough.

Nihal's mystery is being dealt with verrrryyy slowly indeed!

    1. Dia,

More than anything I like the confidence in Veera - the way she says the kid had 2 eyes, 2 ears, 2 hands, 2 legs and 1 mouth too. Veera completely reminded me of my younger daughter - She is exactly like that and it is very hard to get her to listen to me. She is extremely confident of herself and the way she talks - it is like she is not afraid of anything. Just hope she continues to be like that throughout her life.

I am absolutely loving and adoring Shagufta ali's portrayal as Moti chaiji - she may be illiterate but she is very strong and I love her bond with Ratan and the kids. The sets and the art direction of the show is really authentic - like they have gotten the pind down to the smallest detail. The lighting, the dialogues, costumes and the sets are really good. The makers are doing a good job and hopefully this show will come in Top 5 next week. I think that is the reason Colors is also launching a serial with punjabi background at 10:30PM in the slot for parichay.

    2. yes, i agree that veera is a brilliant show, the actors are good, the creative directors actually pay attention, the story is great..but the way veera was repeating moti chaaaaiji.. actually grated on my nerves. the smile essence of the show was comedic drops of honesty from the kids.. today, i felt that it is forced, drawn out for laughter breaks, given funny bg, and overaction from an overpainted chaiji.. is starplus meddling again?

      Delete
    3. Jaya,

The funny bg is actually an indication that you are going to have a MC - Veera sawal jawab. I am okay with the little nok-jhok in between or otherwise the drama becomes too heavy. The makers are clearly spacing the comedy or the nok-jhok in between heavy drama so that we don't get bore of the comedy and neither do we get put off with the heavy drama. SP seems to be promoting this show well enough. It would be good if SP stops at that and doesn't meddle too much into how the story should go forward. Well hoping SP has learned their lesson but you never know - they can be like a dog's tail - no matter how many times you tie it, it would curl itself the moment you remove the bindings.

    4. Funny you said that, J ... today I felt for the first time that little Veera (the actress) has been told to stretch the Moti Chaaaaiji purposely ... till now it has been much more natural. And I think the feedback is that the audience enjoys the MC-Veera sawal-jawab sessions, so they are exaggerating them. But they're still enjoyable, so I don't mind! And they are opening and closing loops in the story well, that is what keeps the flow and maintains interest.

      Delete
    5. dia, saru, it has been so much more natural in the previous episodes.. this particular one had too many moti chaaaaiji calls, i felt...

  4. Sooooo watching MB yesterday's epi and they just replicated the gushhhhhht of wind and the run up to the cupboard ME epi of IPK....AND can I just say, MB just got interesting for me again..

Have been meaning to share this for a while now, this happened couple of years ago...for real.

This young actor in Tamil industry fell in love and eloped and got married.....Mind you both are from perfectly well settled families, educated and no dark past whatsoever.

Now after living with her for a month or 2 weeks dont remember exactly possibly under pressure from his parents, dumped her saying they never got married.

Media found out and it turned UGLY..THE girl decided to move in with his grandmother saying she had every right to do so and refused to go back to her parents saying she would not go back till he acknowledges the marriage and her as his wife. She had pics to prove that the marriage happened too, I think.

It was a free for all media circus, eventually the guy came around, apologized and now they are happy and have a kid too, I think.

This girl was no Khushi or MB, small town girl or someone under duress, she fought for her rights.

Now she could have dumped him after he apologized and moved on. Yet she forgave him and is happy staying with him.

I dont know how MB is going to go, will she forgive him and get married to him or will move on. Ultimately I think it comes down to the individual when faced with such situations.

In the show, we see MB putting her life back on track, starting life afresh again. I hope THEY Don't do something stupid like he did this so she could equal him in status or some such crap, he could have always brought her a spa or a chain of spa and said, now go expand your business or something so you also have something useful to do in your life or simply said, jo karna hai karo, you are my wife.

Show is very interestingly poised now, MB is shown fighting back and RK seems to be hurting a bit. Hope they don't mess it up.

So yup I might just start watching the show rather than reading the updates as I have been doing off late.

    1. I don't know yaar Shweths - MB is not clicking for me. Right now it is all about how low can RK go to insult Madhu and that somehow is not clicking for me. Maybe once we see Madhu fighting back and RK hurting then MB will be back for me. I can't take the girl so insulted - doesn't interest me at all. Let's see what they show next. But definitely would like to see something that is not cliched - like RK inadvertently calling out to Madhu to prevent the lamp falling on her - too cliched scenes. Didn't like the insult RK threw again but given that the PH is going to be having this show on for at least 1 more year - I expect a slow and steady progression in the story. So maybe 2 months down the lane MB will be interesting with MB a big heroine and RK a down on luck actor - that would be interesting.

    2. Sarada,

Watch today's episode of MB. Madhu the sherni is back. She gave more than good as she got. She warned him that she is not a dried leaf which will fly away at the first gust of wind. She is a cactus which is not only firmly rooted but can prick the person who comes close. He wonders how she got over him so soon and she says that if love is at first sight, hate is at last fight. She has run out of stock and production of tears. Seeing his large cut out, she has realised that he is just a piece of cardboard on whom she should not waste her grief. She will not lose to him nor stoop to his level and fight with him for she believes in maintaining her standards and he wasn't worth it. Basically she told him not to mess with her, even calling him a cry baby when he called the security. Tomorrow is going to be more cracking going by the precap.

    3. Thanx, Opti.

I am def watching it after yesterday's precap.

    4. Sure Opti, let me catch the episode on repeat today. DD sure rocks when she delivers strong dialogues.

    5. Opti,

Caught MB on repeat. I liked the episode. Few things that are clear to me is that the channel Colors seems to be backing the show and the PH. The PH knows what they want to show and what their leads are all about. I for one would have loved a little less of Madhu's humiliation the first time around but given that they didn't keep Madhu weeping and crying for long - I can forgive them for this.

The dialogue writer who ever is writing for this show is awesome. There is no need for symbolism when you have such good dialogues. I especially loved the last line of Madhu - "pass mat aana Rk, warna khoon nikhlega - mera khoon". It is kind of Madhu reminding RK that he is living a life of charity - sometime that Madhu did when she donated him blood. The dialogues were awesome and so were the costumes. I have noticed that DD is getting excellent costumes in MB - not like Sanaya where she was repeating same costumes.

Somehow VD seems to be not keeping up with his appearance - Is it me or he is no longer looking like what he was 1-2 months before. DD seems to have gone slim or maybe the costumes make her look like that but she was looking good in the confrontation scene. Just wish DD changes her hairstyle - The one sided pony reminds me too much of Geet. Maybe they can have DD have open hair with light curls so that she looks sophisticated. All in all I am quite impressed by the team. Just hope Colors don't get greedy as SP did with IPK. Let the PH tell their own story and it would be really better if they make MB 5 days a week instead of 6 days.

      Delete
    6. Sarada,

The dialogue writer of MB is indeed excellent. He is Raghuvir Shekawat who also writes for Veera. I find the dialogues of this show even better than IPK. The production value is anyday superior to IPK whether in terms of costumes or sets. VD has put on weight, maybe the afterglow of being a newly wed. DD has changed her hairstyle for this track. She is no longer wearing one sided pony but one sided braid which I thought suits her. She used to have her original curls for the initial episodes but since her hair is not very thick and her face quite chubby, I felt it wasn't suiting her much.

The current track is quite interesting and makes one forget that it is quite illogical in the context of what was shown in the past four months. I hope they give a believable explanation at some point. The show has been fairly logical before this track started off (although they do tend to exaggerate scenes as the show is a satire on bollywood and the people working for it) and they meticulously closed all loops. I hope they continue doing so.

There is one thing I have noticed about myself when I watch these shows. I may be addicted to a particular jodi and when I start watching a new show while the earlier show is on, the jodi in the new show don't impress me as much as the one I was attached to. Once the old show winds up and I concentrate on the new jodi, they grow on me. So when I was watching both Geet and IPK, I was more attached to Maaneet than I was with Arshi, even though Geet as a show was already on a downslide. I warmed up to Arshi around September 2011, three months after the show took off. (By the way IPK was the only show I watched from start to finish).

As far as MB is concerned I did not find the Rishabala pair attractive as long as Arshi were on screen. Now that they are the only romantic jodi I am watching, they have started growing on me. I find the same scenes which I had seen earlier (and thought little off) more interesting now.

      Delete
    7. Opti,

Yeah I think I worded it wrong but in Geet she always had the one sided braid - it was like her trademark. In the confrontation I felt I was seeing traces of Geet in Madhu but agree with you - the dialogues of MB are indeed powerful. Veera's dialogues are also very good. Seems like the dialogue writer is quite an accomplished person because in Veera, there is a liberal use of punjabi in the dialogues and in MB, the dialogues are more of Mumbai Hindi-ish.

Somehow VD needs to either trim down or redo his style. He was looking smart at the beginning of the show but now he is not that smart - or maybe I was concentrating too much on DD. But the end confrontation was really good with both Vivian and Dhrasti rocking the dialogues.

For me the very first pair I got impressed with was Saumya - Pari (of Woh Rehne waali) - I know it was a long time ago when this show aired. I was on vacation from US to India and it was during this time the serial used to come and I absolutely adored Aamir Ali and Reena Kapoor in the show. Afterwards there were very few jodis that I really liked. Strangely for me Aamir Ali never impressed me in any of his other shows. The next jodi I really got addicted(and this addiction still continues) is ArShi and Barun - Sanaya. Maybe it will take time for me to have Vivian and Dhrasti grow on me. But for now I am going to give MB a chance and will try to catch up whenever I can.

    8. The writer I believe is an army man's son and hence has lived across India. In an interview he says that he gets his inspiration from the diverse people he has met during the course of his life. People with an army background do blossom into well rounded personalities.

  6. Satyanash - SP is trying to get Pratigya for season 2. I couldn't understand the show when it was airing for the first time. It was the most regressive show I could ever watch - even the ads and promos used to put me off. And now they are trying to get a season 2 for the same shit. SP seriously needs to understand what kind of audience it has. And here it seems Pooja Gor will play the daughter - Just wondering how Pratigya will have a daughter when her husband Krishna was supposed to be infertile and can't father a child in the first season. Total Satyanash I say.

    1. Sarada, SP HAS an audience for such shit ... that's precisely the problem, yaar! How the dickens Pratigya managed to remain on air with decent TRP's for over 2 years beats me! And now with the new shows flopping, we get more of the same old *head desk*!!!!

Whatever ... this just builds hope that they will get San back in a new show ... as Pooja is also an SP employee, as is Sanaya . Hope they don't call it IPK season 2, that's all.

      Delete
    2. SP if it is little smart will not call the show IPK2 and I don't think they can have IPK2 given that most of the principal characters of season 1 have already moved on to other projects - Abhaas, Deepali, Karan(though he seems to be free as his was cameo in Jeanie aur juju), Akshay. So maybe they will try out a different PH and can try out an intense romantic serial with Sanaya in lead. But any project getting go ahead is going to be a long time. Right now I don't see any opening for new shows till June/july. SD shergill is on as well as 'Custody' the balaji show which will go after MasterChef, Daag if it happens will be 11PM show and Shubi bani Shubhlaxmi will be replacement for YRK. So where does that leave opening for new shows.

For that reason I feel this article as well as the article on Tellybuzz is a publicity funda - both of the PH and the channel to test the waters for the show. You know kind of judging the audience for their reactions. If the response is good then SP may give its nod and the PH will decide on future course of action - else it will be scrapped in the planning stage itself. Apart from that I don't see any point in the article. It was more of speculation and nothing concrete.

      Delete
    3. Nope, SP will never bring back IPK2 ... not after the mess the fans made ... and are still making! Just heard Payal (Deepali)'s interview, where Team Sarun says they are still making a couple of thousand calls a day ... *head desk* ... jeez, when will these idiots understand?! If Barun wanted to work on TV, IPK would never have wound up at all!!! Give up on SaRun, for heavens sake ... Barun killed Sarun and Arhi when he left the show, and they're not coming back.

SP is on a major revamp spree, sarada ... you have already listed four new shows, and this Pratigya2 is a fifth. If two shows can go off within 3 months, more can go off, or even be scrapped completely. and these are not the only only ones ... Sajda, EDSKPH and Ruk Jaana Nahin have also gone off air within a span of a few months each.
Right now SP seems to be scrambling to find what will work ... this may be a publicity stunt, or it may not. I don't think anything can be said with any certainty at all.

The other question in my mind is .. with SP being so ruthless, will the PH's also be wary of approaching them ... they spend money, time and effort on starting a show, right from concept, to planning to executing, which takes months before the show even starts ... if it's going to last only a few months, then what a waste for the PH too ... plus they can't take the same concept anywhere else. So SP is going to lose out big time if they don't get their act together.

      Delete
    4. Dia,

Agree with you on the idea of PH being wary of approaching SP. It takes a lot of time for promotions and casting for a show and the PH will make money only when the show is on air at least for 6-8 months. Anything less than that it would be just a bare make through for the PH. And also looking at MB - seems like Colors is encouraging PH to tell their stories their way. So unless the incentives are there I doubt PH's coming to SP with new and innovative ideas.

All the shows that went off-air last year with the exception of IPK were poor TRP performers Dia. Sajda never managed beyond 1.6 and Ruk Jaana always was below 1 and Ek doosre was barely managing a decent 2. On the other hand the shows like SNS, YRK, DABH, Pyar Ka dard are having above 3.5 TRPs so I doubt SP will yank any of those off in a jiffy. The only 2 shows that will get the axe in this year are SNS and YRK and the new shows if they fail to rake in the TRPs. Somehow my gut instinct SC of SLB will fail - why ? Don't ask me. It is my gut feeling as maybe initially people may tune in for the SLB mark but eventually the housewives and the old people may draw unfavorable comparisons to Nutan's classic and may give up on the show and the intelligent audience may find it boring to relate to the concept. So 1-2 months into this show and the TRPs may tank. And by March you have the complete India going with Digital TRPs - you would get a correct picture.

Regarding Barun coming back to TV, I sure hope he doesn't come on Star plus. If I were him I would be miles away from the channel and I think Barun now knows the fan following he has and even if he was not aware of it earlier, London and Kenya sure must have made him realize the fan following he has. So if things don't pan out for him in film world(I sure do hope he makes it in bollywood but still), he would come back to TV by next year - he would know what he can do in BW by that time and hopefully he would know how to tell his preferences without confusing either the audience or the channel. And there are enough shows that are different - like Colors show 24, Adalat and other shows and hopefully Barun will be able to make his mark in these shows. Daily is something that may not work out for him.

    5. Sarada,

I thought I was the biggest SP basher out here...

I must say this: I feel SP is experimenting too. It will do our television a lot of good.

About Barun coming back to SP, I am not aware of the latest developments, but Rajan Singh had quite earnestly said that Barun is like family...I don't think he will have problems with SP or the PH.

      Delete
    6. Su,

I am not an SP basher per se but am heavily critical of SP and the way it operates ruthlessly with the shows and the PHs. SP no doubt has the biggest audience and overall presence but at some point you would like your favorites to come on channels which encourage them and not ruthlessly exploit them. I agree SP doesn't have any problems with BS and may cast him in any of the future shows if BS shows inclination but then again it would be the same thing - ride on BS till they mint money and then drop him under the bus. But if BS is smart he would directly negotiate with the channel than the PH. From what all I have heard it seems the actors are paid well if they are in contract with the channel directly than if they are with PH - Of course it comes with the tag that they should be available for all Star Plus Thoyhaar and programs but the pay would be good it seems. And also SP periodically sends the actors on short foreign trips as incentives. Last time around BS was in contract with 4Lions and Sanaya was with the channel. Hopefully this time if BS comes in a show with SP - he would be in contract with the channel itself. And SP is also going to get a water tight contract if they get BS on board - Can't have him leaving them in lurch once again.

      Delete
    7. Sarada,

Unlikely that anyone will be able to rein in BS in a contract like that...he loves his freedom. If SP does not take him without a contract, the other channels will take him ON HIS TERMS. I am sure Sony will love to get him back and Barun would love to work with the BHPH team.

Barun has sent out the message loud and clear...it is not about the money only...HE WANTS DECENT WORKING HOURS.

      Delete
    8. Su,

Regarding the decent working hours - I am pretty sure another PH say like Nautanki films, Sphere origins or Shashi and Sumeet Mittal productions can manage good decent hours for their cast. The rest of the actors in other PHs take off for vacations/holidays/fall sick/participate in other reality programs will working for the serial. So I am sure if BS sticks with another PH which can work on the serial with having sufficient banks - He should be able to carry a serial till end.

As for me I am happy if he comes on any channel but I myself am very wary of SP. So will be happy if he comes on any other channel other than SP.

    9. Funny you mention Nautanki films, sarada ...
sanaya irani to play lead in nautanki films next

Similar article in Metromasti ... only difference is that it mentions only Life OK.

I am not believing in any articles till confirmed by Sanaya herself ... when she says she IS in talks, that is confirmation enough, as she never admits to anything till it is almost final. Again this news has come out when we're not even sure whether she is in town or not ... the only good thing is that she is back in the news, and from this, seems still bound to Star.

Regarding contracts ... I still say the same thing ... NO contract can be so binding that an actor cannot leave at any time, after giving due notice. The only thing channel or PH can throw in is a penalty clause or execute a bond for a huge amount of money ... now that is usually done with trainees, not with established professionals (speaking from corporate and medical pov's, the two I am familiar with) ... and even that is usually taken over by the new employer if they want the employee badly enough.

Decent working hours ... seem to be a distant dream as of now ... Colors has three shows on air six days a week, instead of five *head desk* .... Zee does mahasangams of two-three shows, SP does mahaepisodes ... first let them get their weekends sorted out with reality shows/ comedy/nautanki/movies or whatever other crap they want to show.

Sarada, I'm not sure about SNS, DABH, YRK etc ... but I don't think they reached their 3+ TRP's overnight, or even within a few months. It took much longer. And RJN was at a new slot completely - 6.30 pm, still it lasted for six months or more. Sajda and EDSKHP were at prime slots and were yanked off without giving them much chance, KH and Kaali three months flat. Let's see .. I think SP is shaken with the rock bottom TRP's, it will take a while for them to re-group. PKDH and Veera have done good, but they still have two more slots to replace - Kaali and Behna. And I'm not counting Masterchef ... that is a stopgap till a fiction show is ready. SD Shergill will probably be the next - I hope it's an SGP type sitcom. Kanwaljeet and Supriya Pilgaonkar are already attractive enough for me to give it a try.

    10. Dia,

you know even I was thinking about how good it would be if Sanaya comes with Nautanki films PH(especially after seeing the gorgeous costumes of DD in MB) and looks like my instinct is coming true. But let's wait till the official confirmation is out.

SP is quite shaken with the rock bottom TRPs - agree with you completely but I don't see it getting its act properly Dia. It is just doing what someone does under pressure - yank off shows before they blossom into something and try to push new shows on air. But you got to admit it the programming is completely wrong and whoever is the Fiction Content Head for SP seriously needs a reality check. Ek doosre was a bad choice for replacement for SGP and the characters were very loud in EDSKHP. So also was Sajda - the concept was good but it was more of a 11PM slot and not 10PM audience slot. Now on Life Ok 26-12 is working fine when both of the shows are on similar lines. Unless SP knows the audience it has and gets shows that will satisfy them, I see the same thing happening but SP mostly I am thinking will not yank off its top rated shows. But with SP you never know.

Regarding the contract terms - I think they can have a big penalty in place for an actor if they quit in middle and now that Barun knows how things can blow up and how the blame game happens, I hope for his sake he doesn't quit any show in middle. For that reason I don't see Barun coming back to TV until he is quite sure that he wants to be only on TV like Sanaya is. And definitely agree with you - Colors needs to get the weekend programming to work and should stop having the serials come 6 days a week or else you have the same thing of actors burning out.

Kuch Spice to make it meetha, i had seen it before, i actually came across it during the time i came to know about MadMidaas because of Karan Tacker music video Bandish, that was also well made.

Last day of MAMR shoot, had seen it before and every time i see it, i feel like telling barun.."jao baba thoda so jao" :p. he looks sooo damn tired and exhausted, actually like he is sleep walking(or talking in here) :D he really seemed to have enjoyed the experience and since the whole team was quite young, there is a sense of that excitement and energy i guess. I think for me the reason if at all i watch this movie will be only Barun and Kavi :)

    1. Nice interviews, both of them! Deepali was obviously quite unhappy at Payash being sidelined so much ... she is as crazy as Sanaya and Khushi both! Liked her not-so-subtle message to the fans ... don't pressurize SP, if they want to bring us back, they will. Pressure won't work. Can't believe the fans are still making so many calls ... can they please STOP?!!!

Pyumori speaks very well ... nice interview.

    2. Deepali and Pyumori were really nice and the bonding seems to be great between the cast. I think none of the actors were happy being sidelined and 4Lions did horribly sidelined every character from Anjali, Payal, Akash, Mamaji, Shashi, Buaji and Garima. But I think all of the cast were very close off-screen and that was the reason they stuck around the show even when they were unhappy with their characters on-screen.

And fans calling or not - I don't see any chances of getting the same cast together in a new show. Everyone has moved onto different projects.

      Delete
    3. watched both the interviews..i was laughing at Deepali's expressions when she was asked about her and Akshay's chemistry.. poor guys, the whole of the supporting cast was seriously under utilized.. if only the creators could space out the story...so many if's as usual i guess. Original premise of any story in indian daily soaps cannot go for more than 8 months and that is why the creators bring in sub plots of the supporting cast so that they can extend the story line, which was gravely missed out in IPK. For a ordinary trp viewer like me what was glaring in the epis was that there was no continuity at all of the plots and all the loops left dangling

    6. what the hell went wrong with IPK: he answered it so eloquently.." If you take the overall view of any show into consideration, it appears like the start is very good but while we proceed further, the end is left with so many loose ends that it becomes difficult to get them together. But, being a part of television, we know what every single person is doing and what effort he/she is trying to put in the show to make it successful. The whole journey of the concept of the script is a little dicey because every single person in production department takes it in his own way and tries to make his own version... Fiction shows are unstructured and unformatted and for every single day of shoot; there is continuous change in the execution process. And I feel very sad that all the shows on television start with a bang but end very badly. "

=basically, too many cooks spoiled the broth.

    7. Nandini,
      What went wrong with IPK?
The answer is right above you..J’s limks to past IPK scenes...

Do any of us feel like rewatching MB or Veera however ardent a fan we are?

We talk about shows completing the loops neatly, attention to detail etc...yes...IPK focussed on an entirely different thing. They explored Arnav and Khushi and only them. It was nothing but a love story, and we were supposed to see only the love story, because the makers had put all their effort into developing the chemistry between the leads. That is what makes those scenes epic...plus the fact that they chose excellent actors who would deliver.

We talk about other actors being sidelined. Yes they were. Frankly, I was happy with Arhi taking up all the screen time, because they were really worth watching...all the care went into them. SP and the PH may have made a mistake, concentrating only on the lead pair...but the fact is undeniable that their creation inspired so many intelligent, eminently readable reviews on IF. Something went wrong somewhere...for me, the only un rewatchable episodes were the Kidnap ones and the Anjali drama ones....followed by the end episodes with Sheetal...Even then, any bit of Arhi in all that melodrama was poetic...

I don’t want to blame Barun, even when the whole world knows he is the reason the show ended and PARTLY the reason for the story going downhill...18 months is decent. Indian Telly should start limiting its shows to that.

I look at QH. It is the only other show I will rewatch. Because, even when Barun and Sanaya are not there...I can see the magic being repeated ..and they are taking it at a slower, smaller pace..lessons learnt?

We all evolve with our experiences. I am not saying IPK is a better product than Veera or that 4L will put up a better show than that PH as they evolve...only that they seem to be experimenting. Some work, some don’t...and unless you are in search of a formula, you love experimenting on and on...you are really lucky if you end up delivering too, with all the hard work you put in.

      J,

LOL. too many cooks spoiled the broth.

They were cooking and cooking until one day they realised the main ingredient refused to be a part of the broth. So they tried changing the menu...but some of us tasters, wanted to stick on to what was promised.

We were contented with the tasting sessions and felt a change in the menu might cause indigestion. *wink*

    8. Jaya and Su, agree too many cooks it was and most importantly lot of meddling by the "Boss SP" i feel. Also, agree with what Su said about re-watching other serials. Barun and Sanaya in the ArHi story was the main attraction of IPK and there are no two ways about it. Wish they had planned it well, but i somehow feel they were arm twisted by the channel because of the UK special. He also mentions how these loops left out and story line deteriorating happens in almost every second serial and its true. The only way out of this mess is a tight script with a fixed number of episodes and if the makers still think they have more story to tell they can always bring in a second season i guess. i feel its really high time the TV industry start introspecting.

    9. After watching a few Western shows the last few weeks, I feel that the answer is not in limiting the number of episodes ... :))) no, hear me out, I know I've been saying this all along, but it's actually not true ... the fact remains that the most successful shows are the ones which are going on season after season ... take Grey's Anatomy, Office, the older ones like MASH, Star Trek, Friends, HIMYM, now Downton Abbey. All have gone on for years and are still going strong. In that sense, TV shows ARE different from movies or books, they can go on for much longer. Some of Ekta Kapoor's remarks in that interview did make sense. TV shows go on because one builds attachment to the characters, so much so that one can forgive ups and downs and keep waiting for the next set of problems to arise and be solved. It's like living with another family/ies ... our lives go on in tandem with theirs.

The trick is to make them weekly or at max, bi-weekly, and have seasons with breaks in between, to allow cast and crew regular hours and time off, time to do other projects in between and not get typecast into their roles, or burn out. And allow the growth in characters to be regular and sustained, and the writing to maintain its quality and consistency. FRIENDS started with the six looking for their first jobs, went through their affairs, breakups, marriage, heartbreak, difficulty having babies, adoption ... so many issues. And they went through the issues over ten years, because that's the length of time it takes in real life to go through those events.

But they sustained because they had limited number of episodes, had adequate time to write those episodes - one a week, not five or six ... and took breaks for Christmas. Downton Abbey has 8 or 9 episodes per season only, no more ... it's just finished the third season ... am I done with it? Emphatically NO! There is so much story left ... there have been two deaths and two births in the last season, I'm dying to know what happens next.

And also important is to have multiple parallel tracks ... yes, IPK was unique because it had a lead pair who just sucked oxygen out of everything else on screen, but that happens once in a blue moon (which is why I will never forgive Barun for walking out ... that magic cannot be replicated, not even by the same pair again :( and he will discover that soon enough) BUT that doesn't happen often ... usually if you have a good ensemble of actors, you can keep multiple tracks running quite easily. But again it depends on the type of story you're telling ... a show like YRKKH can easily go on for years, because it's a slice of life ... if the HP books were to be made into a TV series, again they could go on for seven years, that's the time period etched in the books. A love story can ... IF it is a love story like IPKNND ... with multiple breakups and re-unions ... It would have done wonderfully with seasons ... the first ending with Arnav walking off with Sheetal ... the next dealing with Khushi changing and growing into a female tycoon, a third with Arnav's return ... a fourth with Shyam reappearing after a jail sentence ... you get the drift ... but limited episodes, and breaks in between.

Also, and I think this is important ... a weekly/bi-weekly show prevents the show becoming such an addiction ... a daily show is quite bad in that sense, you get so used to your daily 'fix' ... but an episode once a week is enough to keep you hooked, yet not enough to obsess over.

    10. Yes, Dia.

You have described the reasons why you cannot compare a western show with an Indian show...these guys really work hard. Both the cast and the crew...I really want to emphasise on the crew, because they are on their feet the whole time, working their brains through the shots, after the shots, planning the next track...I can imagine how tough it must be...creativity will flow only when you give it a break.

I don't blame Barun at all, because the poor guy had really reached his saturation point...that is why his co-stars support him so much.

You are right. That magic can never be re-created by the same pair or even the same team...I can see that in QH. Gul is toning down the romance so much ...it is almost like she is afraid to play with fire again..LOL.

I am joking. But I am serious when I say the percentage of romance has been scaled down. That is also because it is not a star crossed love story.

That way, IPK and MB...were the most crossed a couple could get...the potential in the story is so much...MB even more so...I feel sad when I see that potential under- utilised so much. They are making a good love story, but they could do so much more better. There are side tracks and parallel tracks...just fillers...but they are there. There is a love story...it begs better treatment.

    11. dia, "IPK was unique because it had a lead pair who just sucked oxygen out of everything else on screen, but that happens once in a blue moon (which is why I will never forgive Barun for walking out ... that magic cannot be replicated, not even by the same pair again :( and he will discover that soon enough)"

beautiful wordcrafting. but i disagree. arnav and khushi did not dominate the story in the first 100 episodes.. checking back, they were together for a long stretch oncreen time only during the nainital trip.. and I was equally interested in the side story, because di, lavanya, mami, nani, or buaji, babuji, amma... were incredibly watchable.because they all had a story to tell. infact, i liked even the nani-lakshmi segments... never waited with eye peeled for arnav or khushi.

at the 100th episode, they returned from nainital and the hospital hug happened. in the 200th episode, they returned from pag phere at GH and arnav clearly told khushi that their marriage is a naatak for six months.. (SN i was never clear on this part.. good thing i rewatched :D)

so from having ten two minute segments between various family members, the serial had shifted to cuttings of two ten minute segments..one arshi scene and one family scene, almost totally unrelated. And here, indeed, arshi took the limelight because the other drama was not even comparable to the fireworks on screen when the two were angry at one another.

the shift was clearly intended, crafted that way by the other cooks, i feel. and i know for a fact that there was a problem in the creative team at the time of hate marriage (nov-feb 2012) and one or two key members left the scene. so after that, the original feel (the classic IPK, i call it) was lost. from then on, it was all about arshi.. and that is too big a load to dump on the head of any actor. barun crumbled because he wanted (and did) other things too.. sanaya managed to keep a clear head because this was her primary focus.

i think they can set the screen on fire if they get together onscreen again.. but i have little hope on the matter. dia, you are right, barun will get to see what he lost after some time.. but i do not think he wants to be typecast into the romantic hero mold.. or that is what i get from his recent interviews. he wants to do more .. will he get the chance, i wonder. he did land a role in the cricket movie,( a la jerry maguire, i think).

su, QH is not about asya.. i would say QH is about asad ahmed khan. i have a feeling they toned down the romance because romance is not intended here (but they show shirtless and stumblin-on-thin-air scenes for TRP).. and if intend they get zo married to ayan in the near future, they dont want another set of angry fans like they got with IPK.

i think QH is going at lightning speed compared to IPK..

      Delete
    12. J,
Agree with you on the creative differences before hate marriage. LM had commented on it openly-'I felt the story was not what was told to me'.

On QH being about AAK: Well! I am seeing it as Zoya's story...she is the one making all the connections..guiding him..connecting him to his past...I can sincerely say I am watching a love story. I am in love equally with Asad and Zoya.

      Delete
    13. Dia,

I agree with Jaya. IPK till the hate marriage was never about ArShi alone. They had equal coverage for all the characters. Infact I am watching the Telugu version on Maa TV and actually the focus is too much on Anjali and Shyam's duplicity in the beginning, like How Shyam means the world for Anjali, How Shyam dupes everyone, How Anjali is apple of everyone's eyes. So in the beginning there was not much focus on ArHi as couple. Only after SPA I think the shift was completely on ArHi and this may be due to SP meddling.

Even with SP meddling, the PH could have woven good story tracks with the other members of the cast but after Mar/Apr, all the tracks the PH opened were jumpy and it was like the PH were in rush to jump to another track and what all was so slow and good in the beginning was not there - like family interactions, siblings bond payal-khushi, Anjali-Arnav-Akash-Nk, Nani-Manorama-Mamaji. Looks like the team also started feeling that and everyone slowly started to quit starting with Mamaji.

I don't think Barun is looking for romantic lead roles. He seems to like to act and he tries to do out different things. He is playing a loud character in MAMR and in the new movie he seems to have picked up the role of a cricket agent who discovers fame and friendship with a down on luck cricketer(a la jerry maguire) and so I think he wants to do out performance roles and I am pretty sure if he comes on TV, it would be something different and not the same romantic lead. I believe Barun can afford to take risks at this point of his career as if that doesn't work out he can always fall back so I am not sure if we will see Barun as a typical romantic hero in the near time soon.

      Delete
    14. Hey, I agree with both of you ... the focus shifted to Arshi slowly and steadily, and more so after the hate marriage, till then the PH managed to keep the story in balance. But the point I was making is that no parallel track really managed to take off once the Arshi story got intense ... this is where I praise the PH wholeheartedly - the pace at which they took the Arshi story the first few months, VERY slowly ... thus maintaining the interest and the consistency.

A lot of people on IF, mainly the youngsters, used to shout and scream about WHY is Khushi not falling for Arnav ... and I always felt, do they even watch the show? Or are they just in it for the romantic moments? The way they developed the story, they could NOT have Khushi falling for Arnav, he was bloody beastly to her, not to mention his blow hot blow cold attitude ... every time he was nice, he immediately turned round and was doubly nasty. But the problem, especially after the hate marriage, was that they concentrated too much on Arshi ... I used to cry out for parallel tracks on the Shiddat posts every week, just take a look and you will see how far back those shiddats went.

And once they lost that balance, that's when the show started sliding ... because the family interactions, which made the show real and believable in the first few months, just disappeared. That's when the show became all about Arshi ... BUT it still sustained its popularity because the lead pair were so good together, not too many people cared if they saw no one and nothing else. I remember an iv with one of the cv's - I forget whom , who said that "even if we have an entire episode of Arnav just looking at Khushi and Khushi at Arnav, it will be enough."
Was SP insisting on the shift? Or did the cv's themselves get lazy? Pata nahin ... and now, how does it really matter? Everybody has moved on ... it's for the cv's and the channel to figure out where they went wrong ... including the last minute multiple changes in storyline, and insistence on making Barun stay back when he first wanted to leave in Feb.

Barun himself ... he took a big gamble, and only a few years down the line will he know whether it was the best move of his life or the biggest mistake. Or neither ... just a small blip.

    15. Dia,

Seems like most of my gut instincts are coming true and this is something I honestly have an instinct about. I don't think Barun would be in TV or in Films for more than 5-7 yrs as a lead. Somehow he always showed interest in things behind the camera and I feel that after few years down the line, he may switch to directing. Whenever I used to watch his Rangmunch articles with Arshad, it was like he was understanding the ropes of directing and somehow I don't know why but I have a feeling that he would move on to directing after a few years.

      Delete
    16. Sarada,
I don't even pretend to understand the workings of Barun's mind ... leaving a hit show for BW is very understandable, he's not the first to have done so ... but the way he left and the kind of movies he left for, does not come across as being very well thought out to me. Either the guy himself is confused as to what exactly he wants to do and is trying to figure it out, deal with his sudden fame, shake off the ASR image, whatever ... or else I'm confused ... probably the latter, as I said already I don't understand the way he works. He is an excellent actor, so I genuinely feel it would be a loss if he went behind the camera ... but it's his life, it's up to him to live it the way he chooses.
Frankly, I'm not really a fan of Barun Sobti the man, I was only a fan of BS the actor who played ASR ... now that he is no longer ASR, he has my best wishes, but not really my interest. Similar to KSG, actually ... I like KSG as an actor, and he HAS captured my attention in not one, but two shows, although I have no respect for the guy as such ... the same with BS, as long as I like what he acts in, I'm happy to watch, for the rest, I'm pretty indifferent.

      Delete
    17. Dia,

Of all the people I have watched over the few years on Indian TV - BS does come across as a different person. I was actually a very big fan of Karan Wahi(when he did Remix) - He was just like BS was - very down to earth and very friendly and I think he is still friends with his Remix gang and that was one show in which all the actors bonded offscreen too. I was not on IF majorly during that time so whatever I saw was on TV(when I was on vacation to India) and afterwards when I joined IF, I went back to Remix forum to relive the things and follow the show. He too got instant fame after Remix and I heard he did land himself some movie offers but something happened and it didn't take off. So he is back to TV and he now knows what he wants to do. I think everyone in life goes through this phase - like you don't know what you want to do next and which one would turn out the best for you - but you need to take that chance and I think BS is doing exactly that - taking his chances. Now whether he succeeds or not,is in the hands of fate.

As far as I am concerned I think the role of ASR and BS playing it to perfection has kept a very high bar regarding acting for me and it would take a long time for sometime to cross it. I too hope BS comes as an actor and gives another good show but somehow doesn't feel like that's going to happen. My best wishes to him too and I think I will follow him till someone captures my attention with their acting. The new crop of TV actors does not seem to have it in them but maybe some one may come out of the blue and surprise me.

  13. Veera ... like I said earlier, I don't really care for the evil kid and his equally evil friends, but I guess this is sowing the seeds of a rivalry which will continue into adulthood, and Gunjan will be caught in the crossfire between the two boys.

Ranvi growing up and starting to recognise the difference in the way his Beeji treats him and Veera ... not in the tangibles like food, water, clothes and schooling, but in the intangibles. A tangled web starting to form. Veera demands attention and love as her right, and is yet too young to recognise the difference in treatment consciously ... but her subconscious inner self does see it, and the innocent child tries all she can to win that love with all she does ... 'veerji' is the first word she wanted to learn for herself, but 'beeji' and 'papaji' were for her beeji, to win that love she craves for. How will Ranvi react when he grows up enough to be unable to ignore that difference in treatment any more?

  14. Watched Savitri.
    http://www.tellytadka.net/telly-tadka-spice/day-show-savitri/

Not bad at all on first look.
Dunno if it will follow the deteriorative path that seems to be the rule in Life OK.

Nutshell: It is a magical thriller...about a girl who can talk with the dead.

Starts in historical times where princess Damayanti kills off an evil sorcerer who had murdered her lover...cuts him into some 52 pieces and hides them in different holy places.

His sister, I think retrieves most of him, but the head is missing.

Savitri kills herself too, as she has promised to reunite with her lover in the re-incarnation.

Story moves to Calcutta where Satya is aiding his blind grandfather( ?)

Savitri is reborn during a storm to a fisherwoman, on a boat and get snatched up by a bird (as her parents are engulfed by the waves) and dropped on near a temple.
Here she is picked up by a woman who has been mourning her lost son for 9 years...the Baaba of the temple tells her that the gods will send someone help find her lost son.
The woman takes the baby to the Baba who tells her the child will be safer in a church that is across the temple. So, she drops her off there- the girl is raised by the nuns, with the woman visiting her regularly.

One day, Savitri finds a little boy, who is standing by the steps of the river- he refuses to move or take sweets from her because his mother has ordered him so...and he points to the woman...she is his mom.

Savitri calls her to tell her that the child she is looking for is right there...and then realises that only she can see him...he had died 9 years back. The girl is horrified. But she helps the mother complete the last rites and release her son from the promise she had extracted from him...

The woman tells her the significance of her name..

Story shifts to a grown up Savitri pleading with God to take this cup away from her...the Mother Superior reassures her that it is a gift from God...talks about ‘cross over’ being an accepted concept in Christianity too.(Too much of philosophy and theology...debatable?...I don’t dwell on these things too much... )

    1. What I loved:
      1. The concept of oneness of religions emphasised as the Baba points to the church and tells that the child will be safe under that God. And the Mother Superior delivers the same message in the next episode too. The nuns...the choir...the hymns...never before seen on an Indian show.

      2. The mother looking for her lost child...how the Baba tells her to come to terms with it..and how she comes to terms with it when Savitri converses with the spirit. The body of the child was never found. I remember watching a good English movie which dealt with missing children and how it is important for the mothers to find at least the evidence of their death to be able to move on. One of my colleagues recently mentioned a real life incident of his relative...the son had gone to another town for coaching- a routine thing for him- he never reached the destination. The body was never found. The parents have kind of given up hope, but every well meaning report of a likely match found- makes them relive the horror over and over again. It is a terrible ordeal for the parents.

Riddhi looks cool doing this role (No resemblance whatsoever to her bro- she is a better actor too, any day.). The guy looked out of place in his historical attire...hopefully will be better in our times. The siblings sorcerers are good, so is the Baba. The mother seemed to be overacting a bit here and there...probably because I like subtlety..and there is nothing subtle about her distress.

On the whole, nice presentation so far.

I was reading up WIKI on Ghost whisperer and came across this:

'In January 2011, Hewitt told the press of her opinion about the cancellation, saying "When you’ve taken people on a journey for so long, the least you can do is give them a goodbye. For a show that was about unfinished business, we didn’t get to finish.'

      Fits IPK so well.

      Nan,
I might not watch it seriously. I am definitely not putting it on at 8:30. My son is sure to get addicted to it. Actually, I feel kids and teens will love this show.

    3. Anyone here saw Maghadheera - the telugu movie starring Kajal Aggarwal and Ram charan Teja. The first episode was very much like Maghadheera - The story is same. A princess falls in love with a warrior but they are killed by an evil magician before they could reunite and they are born 400 yrs after and the story goes how they unite afterwards. The special effects were awesome in this movie though the gore and violence put me off to a large extent and I couldn't enjoy the whole movie but the sets, costumes and the editing put this movie in one of the biggest hits in Tollywood thereby getting Kajal and Ram superstar status.

I think the story of savitri is also like that. They reincarnate to meet again. AD is very hectic with deadlines and projects so no idea if I will be able to catch this show regularly - but when possible would try to give this show a chance.

Magadheera aand Arundhati have been mentioned by the TT article. Arundhati was a telugu movie too?

      Delete
    6. Su,

Arundhati was also a telugu movie a blockbuster at that. Did TT really mention these 2 movies. In Anrundhati, the heroine imprisons the evil magician under some spells and when her great granddaughter is born(she herself will be born as the great granddaughter) - the magician is somehow released and the great granddaughter will remember her past and try to fight the evil. It was quite a scary movie. I don't think the makers will use that premise here but maybe they can use some ideas.

  16. @Veera..liked the mon-tue epis of it. I am too thinking that somehow Nihal is the reason for Sampooran gone missing, either he has got killed or arrested am guessing. Moti Chaaaiiiji n Veera's nok-johk was cute. Ratan's dilemma about Veera is reaching the fore now, on one hand somewhere Veera has touched her heart past all the defenses Ratan had built for her, but still she is not able to voice it. Today, Ranvir very clearly noticed that Ratan did not pray for Veera, am feeling there might be some confrontation of sorts between Ratan and Ranvir regarding Veera may be. The issue of who sent that keede walle dabba is going to be in wraps as of now it seems. Like others who have mentioned here, i too agree the art direction is excellent in Veera. They have given so much attention to the nuances of be it the sets, the language, the body language of the characters and everything perfectly done. The main creatives of this show is the producers wife, again a husband-wife jodi PH here, but these ppl are soo soo much better, like i said before they too are a new PH, but still.

    cyaa everyone :)

    1. this is an adorable video :) thanks for sharing Dia.

today, the highlight of the epi for me was how veera sat in Ratan godh and kissed her mom, the kid is fully exercising her rights as a daughter, her innocence is totally disarming. Ratan is definitely having a tough time fighting Veera's love :)

i think Nihal will help in Sampooran's dream coming true, again fodder for gossip for that Sarpanch's wife i think

that bad kid is BAD.. i dislike how he terrorizes his sister, i hated how he told his sister yesterday that his mother will believe only his words :/. it is sad, but it happens in quite a few households in india i guess where boys are given more importance than the girls.

@Su, saw ur comment now on another matter, have left a reply in last week's blog entry... sorry for late reply, had not noticed it before :)

      Delete
    2. Yep ... today was a slow episode, though. Again the theme of Veera being the one to fullfil her father's dream came up. What role will Nihal play though ... that's what I am wondering. Sometimes I think he is there for Ratan, then I feel that no, he's only there to clear up the Sampooran mystery. And probably once he discloses the truth that Sampooran is not coming back, that will cement Ratan's non-acceptance of Veera. Have to wait and see how they take it.

But I do wonder how long the kids' phase will last ... the kids are there in almost every scene, it can't be easy for them, especially for Bhavesh, he's 10-11 years old and has to go to school also. It's already been over 3 months.

      Delete
    3. me thinks the kids phase will be max at least 2-3 months, i doubt they will take up nihal-ratan storyline since premise of story is a bro-sis one..but we can never say never in this daily soaps i guess

      Delete
    4. honestly, i dont want the characters to grow up anytime soon.. the kids are the major draw in the serial, pulling in th TRP.. and once the characters grow up , there will be nothing to show except cliche'd bollywood tripe.. like you are discussing, why nihal was here, why ranvi cares for veera, how ratan deals with loss.. and then later, when will ranveera get a love interest... story tanks from there. better keep the freshness, with the childhood in focus.

the actors are tutored privately, instead of attending school, i think... otherwise they would have less screen time, especially with exams and all coming up.

      Delete
    5. I think Veera is in Nursery and she comes to shoot only 3 days in a week - read about this in some interview. And the rest of the days she goes to school. I too think the story of the kids will be there for another 4-5 months till things are completely closed on what happened to Sampooran and how is Nihal connected to Sampooran. And the makers are taking it slow and so I don't think leap would be there anytime soon.

      Delete
    6. Harshita just turned 6 ... she can't be in Nursery. Should be in class 1. But I remember a Rangmunch interview with the Maryada team - this director is the director of Maryada ... and it was mentioned how the unit was so well planned and meticulously organised, everyone got their scripts well in time and had time to rehearse etc.

Hehe ... I guess its the mother in me that makes me worry about these details. Otherwise I love the kids too, and I'm in no hurry for them to grow up.

Seems like she goes to school three days and shoots the remaining 4 days. Pity yaar if she is working on weekends too. But she is so cute. Just hope the PH plans way ahead and doesn't stress out the kids. I agree with you about the team working and getting things organized ahead of time. I haven't seen any body doubles till now and the direction and flow of the show is not jarring. So the team is able to manage well even with the kids in the show.

  19. Sigh...I am majorly disappointed with Madhu today. She is ordered to give RK a head massage, when she is not even employed under him. And he is taking it one step further, or so the precap suggests.

The story teller is not sensitive to the heroine..this should not be how the heroine reacts after the humiliation she has been subjected to. She wants to break his ahankaar...but she does not have to agree to massage his head for the sake of a bet. The story has to move beyond the petty threats and bets at this point...

Otherwise, the humiliation should not have been on this scale...whatever redemption is coming up.

Right now, he continues to degrade her consciously...when he is refusing to accept his feelings, I can accept that.
But taking it to a physical level- it degrades the hero and the heroine...him for suggesting it and her for meekly abiding.

Haan haan...GH bhaiyaa...I am getting new batteries for my remote, thanks to you.

    1. Caught up with MB after ages ... but I have been following all your discussions. It seems that the hate marriage WAS thrown in to raise TRP's, as someone said ... once that has been accomplished, it's been dissolved, and now the cv's have gotten back to the basic premise of hate - MB and RK are back to exactly the equation they had before the hate marriage.
A bit similar to the Holi scenes in IPK :)))

Does it make sense to me? No, not really.

Am I bothered? Nope ... this is again one of the shows which I will watch once in a while, without getting involved or wanting to analyse the characterization or story progress. They might actually get to the original story they had planned about MB becoming an actress by compulsion, not by choice. Don't see what role RK will play in the future ... as of now, I really can't see Madhu forgiving him ... but since he's the 'HERO', I guess she will. I wish they could ignore TRP compulsions and the calls for a love story, and really make it about a girl making it in the world of films, and her ups and downs there ... more on the lines of Fashion, or even of the real story of Madhubala. Or rather, I wish there would be a show where the heroine could really ignore the hero and for once be unforgiving of repeated humiliation.
SN - that is why I liked Astitva and Saans!

SN2 ... Sanju from SGP is back on screen ... nice to see her, even though she is playing dumb!

SN3 ... Jagya and Ganga is starting in BV ... this I will watch :))) I was talking about an actor or a scene of a few seconds being enough to attract a viewer to a story ... holds true for this track. Am liking Sriti - I noticed her in Saubhagyavati Bhava, even though I didn't watch the show ... will watch her here.

Precisely my concern about where they are taking this show. Right now Madhu should not even be thinking about being in the same room as him. She should prove a point, staying away from him, rather than make herself available for further humiliation. They are killing the heroine and the love story...

  20. Nan,

Nishi hates Barun, I think. She makes a conscious effort not to, but she does not like him. She does not understand him at all.
She is one among those 200 people who will never forgive him for leaving a successful show half way through. Time and again, I have felt it when she admires Karan. KSG has a wonderful way of balancing the show and his private life in every interview. His statements are clear, and he promotes the show proudly. Barun is not a person like that. He is an introvert when it comes to IVs. He takes time to open up. And he does not feel it is his job to promote the show, UNLIKE SANAYA OR KSG.
That is because of his humility, but many might take it as arrogance.

Nishi and the team must have been aware of tensions with Pashmeen- if you are not married, believe me, EVERY MARRIED COUPLE HAS THEM, MORE SO IN THE FIRST FEW YEARS AFTER MARRIAGE, HOWEVER LONG YOU HAVE KNOWN THAT PERSON... THE COUPLE IS NOT NORMAL IF THEY DON’T HAVE THESE MILD TENSIONS....Pashmeen is a person...she would have had trouble adjusting to his sudden popularity. But Barun did mention in one of his interviews around the time IPK ended, that he and Pashmeen had realised that this was a very life- altering time for them...they are a couple, will always be...esp since HE IS WILLING TO GO THAT EXTRA MILE FOR HER.

Nishi-it is human nature to rejoice when you see trouble in paradise...esp when you feel that person deserves to be punished. If I put myself in her position, I might feel secretly glad too, if I had a dislike for that person and misunderstood them totally. Purely speculating...since I do not know her as a person. I am more sure of Barun because he has been very honest in all his interviews.

Thanks a lot for those links.

What has happened to the IPK forum? It has become a haven for gossipmongers...I feel sad. Well, they brought this fate upon themselves.

    1. Su,

which links are you talking about. I didn't see any here - neither do I see them on Main Forum. Regarding KSG and Barun - I know too much about that guy and he is not at all humble. He is one guy who thinks too much about himself. Have seen him and his fans during the DMG time. Do you know there is a fan group called KPS(Karan Protection Squad) which harasses you online if you dare say a word against KSG. The way KSG encourages his fans to do all this itself is sick. During DMG times he was the one who opted out of the show when his three timing with Jennifer, Nicole and his wife came in news. Then after 5-6 months he was out of DMG and you had new interns in DMG come in and when he didn't go anywhere in Bollywood he returned back to the same serial. From there till on the serial ended - KSG was encouraging(very subtly though and not aggressively) his fans to demand for AR love story and somehow the story was completely hijacked after Armaan returned. None were happy. Everyone quit the team - in fact the new interns who were chosen for the show for 1 yr felt disgruntled and quit. In the end the team even did a press conference with the actors present which was again KSG presenting what he thinks should happen. Long story short - KSG is not that seedha sadha as he looks. Guy has loads of attitude. In comparison Barun comes across as a very introvert person but he is not arrogant. If he were he would not taken everything dished out on him on chin - Never did he tried to pass on the buck back to the channel or the creatives. He admits his mistake and he is very clear when he says that he is learning about showbiz.

Regarding Nishi - somehow I felt she was bashing Barun because she was to pick up either of the 2 teams - PH or Barun in the whole of the nov crisis and she choose PH because it is her job. She was mentioning that she will leave the job and was looking out for another job with another PH but seems like things didn't pan out. So she is with the same PH. I don't think anyone in the cast or crew are blaming Barun for the closure. I felt she had to defend the PH as PH bashing was too much for the closure of the show. Again something the PH could have avoided if they didn't get spoiler girls and PH inside wallahs giving out cryptic information.

      Regarding

Somehow this got cut in the first post. Regarding the rumors of Barun and his wife - until things are out in open all is speculation and once things are clear you will know. Gossip-mongers unfortunately have no other work to do and hence you have that many posts on Barun and his married life. I am trying to ignore all until the news becomes public if there is something at all that is happening as the gossips indicate

    3. Sarada,

I can understand you couldn't get head or tail of this post.:D
Actually, I was hoping the post'd catch Nandini's eyes.....it was an issue she brought up in last week's post. Something that had troubled her.

I really wish you had not dragged KSG in to this. It was an example I cited for analysing Nishi's POV.

You got my post TOTALLY WRONG. Please read it again.

I am not calling KSG seedha saadha (though I have no probs with him...he is smart...you need to be, to survive in this industry.) and NEVER BARUN ARROGANT. I am saying SOME PEOPLE- BARUN BASHERS think he is arrogant.

I know he is damn sweet, and I'll refuse to believe whatever evidence any one produces against him.

Nishi: She is happy with the PH...she is all praises for 4L and LM (she seemed particularly elated when LM returned). She bashes Barun for probably the reasons I wrote above. She does not understand him.

You are wrong. LM himself said very clearly, the reason the show closed down was Barun quitting the show. He said it very nicely, non- accusatory...LET US FACE IT...Even the channel says the same thing...So does Sanaya...None of them accuse him, but that does not change the fact.

Barun's life is his business and I trust him to handle his personal life well.

Sheesh...You seem to have misunderstood the entire post!

    4. 'Never did he tried to pass on the buck back to the channel or the creatives. He admits his mistake and he is very clear when he says that he is learning about showbiz.':

Barun is not in a position to pass the buck back. That is why he is going on swearing that he had wanted to leave way back...he had been professional.

He admits his mistake ....WHERE? Tell me when he admitted his mistake? He is still trying to justify himself...I am fine with that, since I like him a lot and I can justify him for myself.

LOL. Now I can see how things get out of hand in IF.

      You really read me wrong...TOTALLY!

      Delete
    5. Su,

May be I did read you wrong here. But Barun did say right I think in his 2nd or 3rd interview after he came back saying he never expected things would go out of way and he would be blamed for everything including the show closure. He also mentioned that I am learning how things work in here and he also said that he has to work here and so he is letting things slide. I think for that also he was bashed on the IF forum saying that - He comes now and says he didn't know about the show closing.

I felt Barun said what he felt - because even in his last day shooting video, he never mentioned that the show will close down or he wanted the show to be shut. In fact he says that the team is the same as from beginning so he says I am sure they will give good show. So from the way I see things - Barun didn't expect things to go out of the hand and the show to be closed out. Everyone from the show and cast knew that the show was on till Feb only. See regarding the channel we have discussed this a lot of times - they wanted to avoid the fans bashing so they closed it and Barun was the ready scapegoat. By the way SP said Barun has 3 movies but I see him signing only 1 movie after all this time. So no idea how far the 3 movie theory that SP people quoted is true. Because if he indeed had 3 movies then the news would have been out by this time.

Nishi, ka toh I have no idea. Because she did mention that she was trying to quit the PH. Girl changes color as fast as chameleon. So no idea if she is happy now or not. I try not to go on QH forum unless I am really bored and have lot of time on hand.

    6. Su,

thanks a lot for your reply, what you said about marriage reminded me of what Dia had put in too about such things, it makes a lot of sense. I also get what you are saying about the PH girl, human nature i guess.

I like Barun a lot, it hurts me to say this, but the truth is that he has his share in the entire quitting fiasco, irrespective of whether his intentions were good, no one can absolve him of his mistake or should i say error in judgement, may be he really meant it when he said i did not know i was this famous and hence he did not realize the ripple effects his decision will have on others. I sincerely hope he has learnt from all these, life is teaching him something, somewhere i believe he is humble enough to have realized it though he might not be vocal about it, he seems like a smart guy who learns from his mistakes.

n girls thanks for bearing with all my bakwas, i really needed to vent and hear some words of sanity and maturity regarding what was going on in IF nowadays, guess the mods at last has had enough too :D

    7. Su,

Forgot to write this in the earlier post. LM ka toh I feel like he is cashing on IPK popularity - As far as all the chap gaya hua moments in IPK go by, looks like majority were directed by Arshad but LM is on social media and he knows how to cash in on popularity. I am not saying it is wrong as that is the way showbiz works. LM couldn't create the magic in other serials he worked in like Phir Subah hogi(I know I tried to follow this serial as LM after quitting IPK went on to direct this for sometime). He also did give a telephonic interview I believe after the show shut down saying he is taking 1 month break and afterwards he will work on new show will all the original cast of IPK sans Barun as he had some personal problems. LM ka toh - my frank opinion is he is one who blows the way the wind blows so he blaming Barun for show closure was more of he siding with PH(as he is still with 4Lions PH) just like the others. Other than that I don't think LM has come out and point blank blamed Barun for the show closure. Did he do that ? I am not aware of it.

    8. Sarada,
NOBODY BLAMES anyone. That is the wonderful thing that happened to Barun.

The first thing that Sanaya canme out with in the SBS interview after closure was announced...'Poor Barun'....and she defended him along with Daljeet. Gul supported him too on the Forum 32 interview...' I really believe you should follow what your heart tells you'....

LM NEVER BLAMED Barun...he said, 'if there is a reason, yes it closed down because of Barun's decision'. But he acknowledged his efforts and confessed that as a director, he could have done better.

      Sarada,
SP does not blame Barun...Rajan Singh tweeted an apology after that redliner.

Gul does not blame Barun...at least not in public...

      Sanaya does not blame Barun...
Nishi and the others in the team (not the PH) blame Barun because they don't know Barun as well as his co-stars and director.

And personally, I don't blame any one at all.
What had to happen, happened. I am happy I got a happy ending. I would have been happier if I had got the full story that was promised...but I am happy.

    9. Su,

Didn't Shwetha say to know the full story of Gul you need to tune in to her serials as she takes things from one serial and continues them in her next venture. Right now Khushi's past is being shown in QH as Zoya's past so maybe 2-3 serials down the lane you will know Gul's whole story.

      -Sarada

      Delete
    10. LOL.

      Sarada,

Khushi's past is not what Zoya's past is shown to be...Khushi lost both her parents in an accident. Zoya lost her mom and is in search for her dad...And her foster mom did not cause Asad's parent's death...it is not the same.

BUt what could have been Khushi's rebuttal...a glimpse of it was played in MB...not any more. :D

    11. Su,
Arey, but we speculated that Khushi's parents' death was caused by Arnav's dad ... remember? One of the many, many theories circulating!

I think we could write some 5-6 alternative IPKKND's with all the various theories and concepts that were proposed on the forum. Some were pretty good, actually ... I remember Opti's suggestions in particular, I really wish the PH had taken some of them!

      Delete
    12. Exactly my thoughts Dia. One of the many theories that came out when Garima was supposed to be past angle was that Arnav's dad caused the accident that killed Khushi's parents and when Garima confronts Arnav's dad he assured to help her out which was misunderstood by Arnav's mom as an affair. This would come out during the remarriage and then we all expected Khushi to walk away from Arnav and both having some separation until Arnav has an Rabba Ve moment and he tries to get Khushi back in his life. In the end the PH did a 'Khoda pahad nikala chuha' and made Garima a mistress of Arnav's Dad thereby negating all the characters and washing away everything that was built over 1 yr. Makes me think are the PH using this story line in QH because it didn't get used in IPK or they didn't use this storyline in IPK purposefully because they wanted to save it for QH. Either way like Shwethu says, Gul tells her stories in increments so by another 3-4 serials done the lane we should know how she thinks about her characters.

    13. There is sad news for me - I was enjoying Telugu IPK and today it was Teri Meri. But it seems they are going to remove all dubbed serials off-air from telugu channels by Ugadi which is April 1st week so maybe I will be able to catch IPK till the Hate marriage and then IPK would be off-air for me. One of my friends PM-ed me this and I went on Main forum to see the discussion and on the Main forum there seems to be a rant about the promo 5 being played on QH. here is the link to the same

      http://www.india-forums.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=3448577

So lot of IPK fans are feeling the same things then.hmm

    14. Sarada,

      Chill!

The TM does not know the ABC of QH. Frankly, I don't know why people love starting controversies...chaloo...the focus is back on Gul...FINALLY!

At least a slight respite from all the other rubbish that goes on in the IPK forum.

Asad's father DID NOT KILL Zoya's mother. We don't even know if the dead body was Zoya's mother's...very unlikely is my gut feeling...

And any way, Raziya is the one who killed, not Rashid.

      Jumping to conclusions...Asad/ ASR? *wink*

      Delete
    15. Dia,
I saw your comment only now..

Yes. I was a strong believer of the theory that ASR's dad was in some way involved in K's parent's death...but I always saw him as white...too bad, Barun did not stick around for that part...we can hardly blame the PH for denying us that!

      Sarada,
Garima shown as the mistress...the story WAS NOT SUPPOSED TO END there. There was more to it...ASR's wayward dad killing himself when his mom committed suicide...there was something fishy...plus Dia's fav chacha....lots was left to tell...the remarriage would not have happened, if they had not planned to kill off ASR...

    16. Nan and Su,

Just replying to Su's first post here ... one more thing, after yesterday's news ... once Sanaya starts her new show, all these rumors will die a natural death, and once Barun's movie is released, and especially if he signs another movie with a good heroine, they will be firmly buried. These things happen in this industry all the time ... three out of the four must be used to it, but the fourth is not from the industry, so she might have gotten affected. I will repeat though, that it would be good for her to get used to it ... especially if Barun makes it in BW, the rumors will only increase, not decrease.

Ah, Su ... you say what I want to before I do :))) BFTP was wound up quickly in IPK because they had to wind up Arhi ... so they kept the bare bones for their next show. And why not ... it was their idea in the first place, they didn't get the chance to do it justice in IPK, so they're using it in QH.

I confess though, that I get major deja vu in many scenes in QH ... the Mitwa in the factory reminded me of Rabba ve on the run ... and I don't think I'm being biased when I say that the one in IPK was much better :))) I still haven't warmed up to Zoya in QH. But I liked the factory face off between Asad and Rashid ... I thought KSG was damn good, he is a very good actor, no denying that ... and so was Rashid. KSG took the honors though ... he portrayed the anger, the disgust, the helplessness and the feeling of being betrayed and let down by his father yet again VERY well.

      Delete
    17. Dia,

Deja vu...Actually, I don't get it at all.
IPK never comes to my mind while watching QH. When I watch MB, I make a comparison, even when I don't want to. Like yesterday, Madhu sprained her ankle- the scene was shot very averagely- theer si something wrong with the director. And I wished for a payal on Madhu's beautiful ankles.

The Mitwa in factory...this couple has not reached the understanding Arhi had by the time kidnap happened. Everything was laid out in open...he knew her feelings, because she had said, 'kyunki baat aap ki hai, farak padta hai..'(sigh...)

And she knew of his, because he had said ILU. Plus both were in peril, their emotions were quite raw.

Asad has not even thought about whether Zoya feels for him, because he simply does not want that kind of a relationship with her (despite the push- pull..he he), and Zoya is barely getting to acknowledge that she has dhak dhak when she gets close to Mr. Khan. PLUS, the chemistry between this couple, I don't know if it will ever reach the intensity Arhi had..there, Arnav was proud and boastful and had no issues with physical closeness..I mean the grab, etc. Asad is a gentleman when it comes to Zoya, his passion is well under control.

      On the actors:

I am a little disappointed with Vaqar..I expected a flawless performance from a senior actor like him. He is good, but I find him minimally lacking in certain emotional scenes.

KSG: Of course, he is very good. (Again, I wonder about Barun's fate in BW, when I see KSG did not get far; but I guess Barun simply wants to experiment. He is not too bothered about the results.) Even KSG fails to excel at all times.
Factory face off, yes, he was really good. The slow anger, the look of disbelief turning to hatred and the final blast off.
I also loved the single tear drop falling in yesterday's epi, when he refuses to pick up Ayan's call.

The three people who never fail to impress me- Badi Bi,Raziya and Shireen.

Raziya- She is the perfect witch. The actress rocks!
Shireen: She is a darling...she NEVER fails to have that dumb, innocent look...whether she is happy, confused or sad...the actress is really living that character.

      Delete
    18. Hehe ... there was a time when MB reminded me of IPK very strongly, especially Arnav and what he might have been. Now it doesn't ... not at all.

But QH still reminds me ... not in terms of story, but in terms of scenes ... although the story is quite different, even the characterization of the leads is pretty different, apart from the superficial resemblance ... but many of the scenes give me deja vu ... and almost always in favor of IPK. Like Zoya being buried alive, and Asad's reactions there ... ... and this, the Mitwa in the middle of danger ... it seemed out of place, while the Rabba ve among the boxes was completely in place ... in fact that was a scene I had predicted and wished for, a scene lifted from Blackmail.

Su, I know the two are at completely different stages in their relationships, but the scene similarity still jumped out at me. The scenes feel out of place precisely for that reason ... the scenes are similar but they're at the wrong time for the relationship.

Rashid ... I was a bit disappointed with him too, to be honest, I thought he would be better. KSG has been good all along, and slowly getting better and better ... this from me, who was disgusted by the man's two-timing and never wanted to watch him again! Banda acting acchi karta hai ... have to admit. He's not perfect, no ... no actor is, unless you're talking Naseeruddin Shah or Irfan Khan or the like.

Badi Bi impresses you? I was never a great fan of Vidya Sinha's acting even in her younger days, she was too blank, I find her the same now. There are very few scenes where I feel she's excellent, mostly I find her just okay.
Raziya is great ... she makes you hate her! Evil witch!
Shireen makes me laugh ... if she's supposed to be equivalent of dumb ditzy blonde, she's doing a good job. But how could a man like Rashid be in love with her after a really smart intelligent wife like Dilshad does baffle me.

Rashid is not in love with Shireen any more. He loves Dilshad.

That does not mean he hates Shireen.
He was once attracted to her, now she has HIS PITY and understanding...she clings on to him, and he will never want to break her heart...

I think he might cherish one thing about her- her innocence. I feel that, plus the children keep them together.

    1. Nandini,

Tellychakkar was the ones which first gave out complete interviews saying Sanaya was roped for 4Lions next and that turned out to be a complete hoax. So let the official confirmation come in and I too am happy if San comes with Nautanki PH - This PH at least has decent wardrobe for their leads.

    2. Nandini,
Look who has commented first here too? She is not obsessed with only Barun...so, chill.
May be she feels she needs to comment on all offscreen things related to the PH.

I am taking this as a positive sign. Is 4L talking with Sanaya too?

    3. Su,

I am lost on Nishi. She was not on IPK forum for a long time but pops in whenever there is a post on Barun/Sanaya offscreen things. No idea what is the funda here. So better wait and watch.

      Delete
    4. TC and Metromasti articles I can ignore ... but this RajBaddhan tweet confirms that there is an offer, and he got that from Star TV ... now we have to wait for confirmation from Sanaya's end.

And I agree with Su - Nishi popping her nose in probably means that 4 Lions is also talking to Sanaya. She popped in when there was a post about Sanaya's 4 lions iv with Gul too ... all about how wonderful and warm a person Sanaya was. So 4 Lions is keeping their channels with Sanaya wide open ... was this the reason for the Gul interview? San did mention there that she has a few offers ... which I'm not surprised about at all.

This news makes my day ... :))) Fingers crossed we get confirmation that San will be back pretty soon!

      Delete
    5. me too keeping hopes since it is RajBanddhan tweet, he is connected to SP right, so he might know there is a genuine offer, but guess they are awaiting Sanaya's response. I also think may be 4Lions is keeping their options with Sanaya open, but their LOK show got scrapped i guess and if they are taking it to another channel i doubt Sanaya will say yes, if she has SP and other channels i think she might choose SP as she has a very good rappot with then since MJHT days, but cannot say for sure i guess, if things does not work out with SP she might choose another channel. I do not mind whichever channel since Sanaya will not choose saas-bahu saga, me happy :) I think we might get confirmation any which way once she is back from her US trip(if she is there now that is)

Akash plus minus glasses...what stopped Akshay from wearing the glasses when he knew his character was required to wear it? Did he need the director's permission to wear the glasses? (It is not like Khushi's Payal, after all...)

      Or they were misplaced?

I thought those glasses were his, actually. His eyes look like he has been using spectacles for some time..may be I was wrong. It was just that character.
I miss those glasses in PV.

Akshay should do sophisticated roles...he looks good in those.

I have a theory about this...a theory that will make Shweths happy ( i hope so!!)

For me the reason Jr bitwa was asked to wear glasses in IPK was becos he might have looked a tad intimidating in the Raizada Household and as we know "ek mian mein do talwar nahin ho sakte hain" so they made ASR stare and intimidate and Akash look less assured in comparison...varnu Shwethu will vouch Akash bitwa without specs was a match for ASR with or without attitude hehehe....

  27. @Veera ... evil Baldev tries to upset the apple cart ... sorry, gum, over Ranvi's kite ... foiled by Veera. Ratan sticks up for Veera. Ratan can be as fiery as Veera when it comes to defending her loved ones ... Veera seems to have picked up this trait from her adoptive mom.

Love the way they are sticking to the characters - Ranvi - righteous, straightforward, truthful, he will stick to the straight and narrow, even at his own expense, his values are etched in stone - he points out to Veera that she didn't need to hurt Baldev, she could have just moved the gum bottle ... two wrongs don't make a right.

Veera - total patakhi, sharp, and not above going the tedha way to achieve her ends, including white lies ... believes in eenth ka jawaab patthar.

Has IPK made me look for symbolism in everything? :))) Baldev's evil intentions only result in his own mother's face being splashed with mud.

Gunjan ... ghar ka bhedi Lanka dhaye ... a female Vibheeshan. Baldev might be her brother, but there is no love lost between them, nor respect. And she knows what her brother is up to.

I loved the MC-Nihal scene ... among the plethora of angry young men currently on tv, I really like this strong, silent man, tormented by his own secrets, and trying his best to carry out a responsibility ... was the responsibility entrusted to him? Or is it his own guilt? His hesitancy, his extreme caution - he doesn't want to upset Ratan again, especially after the disastrous start which put her on the defensive straight away, he is taking extra care not to set any tongues wagging at all, because he knows there are tongues ready to do so ... yet he wants to help, he HAS TO help.

Okay I know this will never happen, but I would love if Barun Sobti:

Fires his PR agency and gets a new one, it is doing more harm than good.

Make up his mind which was his favorite role cos that keeps changing

SHUT UP AND not give more interviews or instruct his PR agency not to recycle his old interviews. The next time I want to see him is for his MAMR promotions or shooting for his next movie/cameo whatever.

Can we all have 11/20/40 days break from his recycled, Foot in the Mouth, Ghajini type interview.......IN HIS BEST INTEREST!!

      STOPPPPPPPPPPPPPP HIS WIFE JAAP, Seriously!!!!!

If at all he needs to give one, Can he just say, If you guys really care/love me whatever, Ensure you guys or people you know do not go on abusing/bashing my friends/fellow actors/All and sundry in my name - Currently that will be the biggest and best thing you guys can do for me. As much as I appreciate your support, I would not like to be known as the guy with psycho fans as a few of them tend to ruin it for the other sensible ones. It is a two way relationship, you guys support me rationally and I will make sure you guys are incredibly proud of me......*something of that sort, puhleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeej*

And Last but not the least, get under a lawn mower like yesterday.......ofcourse thoda leeway for the guy as he is on a "BREAK" but can the rest happen PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!

And one more time he says he worked so hard doing both film and the show, I will hit him with something hard ... kis gadhe ne bola tha to do both together?! Khud decide kiya, now stop complaining about it!!!

I think Barun and Akshay are now in competition ... who needs a lawn mower more ... bhai ho to aisa. Oh, Ayaan can join the brotherhood ;)

btw girls, i liked Barun's new intv *ducks* :P, foot-in-mouth instances have reduced a lot i feel though if it is because of PR hiring i do not know :D

"get under a lawn mower" hehehe that was a good one :D

btw i remembered the first pic i saw Barun(not ASR, but Barun) was in his look-test walla look, i was like "what is this!!!!" but he proved me wrong by transforming himself to the sauve-ASR(at least in the first six months :P) so am little not that bothered about his offscreen look :D

    6. Dia, that mention of working on two things, frankly it was his choice too right,he should stop talking about as though he did a favour, sometimes in fact i feel if he had quit in Feb, it would have been easier for everyone including himself that is if he is serious about trying in BW

      Delete
    7. Nan, go back to the April May posts of last year ... that's exactly what I said then itself ... that BS should quit. The Arhi story had barely taken off, a replacement COULD have been brought in. And it might have worked because there was still a lot of story content there. Till Feb, the story was still on track, despite SP interference.
And even now, I don't understand why BS is talking about tv cameos ... if he's serious about BW, he needs to really work for it, and stay out of TV for a while. Do some theater workshops, some voice training, body building, dance classes - if Sanjay Dutt can dance, then Barun can learn - he was not bad in the sangeet performance in IPK. I was listening to John Abraham describing how he got into shape for a movie (Force) - he trained for 6-8 months. And that guy was already in good shape. And voice training is something Barun needs badly.

Look at Sushant ... I'm not a fan of the guy as such, never seen his shows, but the way he has made his moves is really amazing. Barun is too simple, I feel, and too confused ... he doesn't have the right advisers. Plus he seems to be very laid back, and think that his talent is good enough to make it. But things don't work that way, you need to be a little smart as well.

Sushant has been really smart, he left his show at the right time, made a clear announcement why he's leaving, never came back to TV again EXCEPT for dance performances, which was great training for his BW move ... so both TV and BW producers knew exactly where he stood. And he waited for a good break ... Kai Po Che is getting great reviews already, and he's already bagged a Yashraj movie, and a walk on performance in a Raju Hirani film. He has been very smart about his career. Unfortunately these days you can't be lead in TV and BW simultaneously, not in India, so you have to decide on one and give it your best shot. Unless you're a character actor, in which case you can easily flit between the two - there the line has become very blurred, and actors are moving between BW and telly all the time.

      Delete
    8. Dia,

Unless you're a character actor, in which case you can easily flit between the two - there the line has become very blurred, and actors are moving between BW and telly all the time.

This is what I too think BS wants to do. He is not aiming for lead roles - He is aiming for strong character roles. His first movie may be a chick flick but it is not a sole romantic film and his second film about cricket is not again a lead role. He is aiming for character roles because he knows for sure he is not good at dancing and he is not comfortable in intimate scenes. So I don't think he is looking for BW only because in BW you need to be lead to be in at least 1-2 movies in a year if you want to be there for few years and we got to admit it in BW less than 10% of movies are different and rest are romance flicks only. So I think BS is looking for strong second lead roles which need not have him doing dances and intimate scenes kind of Shreyas or Irfan.

Agree with you that Sushant did a really smart move and here being with Balaji productions really helped him out a lot. Abhishek kapoor the director of Kai Po Che is a friend of Ekta and she recommended Sushant for the role - See that is why you need a good PH and it pays to be with big PH.Ekta backs her loyalists a lot in which ever they are in - be it big boss or in BW and it is true the reverse case also - she makes sure you are nowhere if you rub her the wrong way. I think with BS even if he got the role in MAMR due to the popularity of IPK, I feel that he got his second movie '22 yards' only due to his performance and frankly I would be happy if his second movie hits the screens first. His second movie seems to be interesting.

      Delete
    9. Shewthu,

Agree with you - BS needs to fire his PR agency or new to give new interviews because what I feel is in all his interviews there is one or two new things and rest are repetitions.

Either he is giving only the info for the new things and the journalists are picking up and rehashing his old interviews or he himself is kind of giving the same answers.

If it is the first case his PR agency should ask for preview of all his interviews before it goes to the press and make sure you have only the new content in and if they are not doing it then fire the PR agency.

If it is the second case then he seriously needs to talk more.

And regarding the role of Raj in DMG - guy was there only for 3-4 weeks and his story was wrapped up before it started. I can understand Shravan in Baat being his favorite because the serial went for 9-10 months and it was Sony's Top TRP serial for quite some time and he got recognized due to this role. He made quite few guest appearances in other reality shows like Boogie Woogie, Radio stations due to this show. Quoting Raj as favorite role is little confusing because he was hardly there and his part wrapped up before it started.

    10. Sarad,
Like I said, I don't understand BS ... if what you say is right, why would he leave a lead role on TV for character roles in BW ... especially a lead role like ASR, not even an Ahem or Naitik type of role. Anyway, all the best to him.

I think his PR agency needs to get their act together and actually do some work, like get him to make some appearances somewhere ... all they seem to be doing is re-hashing his old interviews and putting them up again with slightly altered answers ... so everyone is confused. Or better still, let him stay out of sight for a while, so that curiosity is aroused again ... I guess till his movie releases, he actually HAS nothing more to say.
Besides, his biggest role to date has been ASR ... the bulk of his fan base is for IPK, so it's obvious fans are going to be miffed if he refuses to acknowledge either them or the show. If that is his PR's advice, to ignore the show so as to get out of the ASR image, it will backfire, except for his diehard fans. Most fans already feel cheated to hear that he walked out of the show ... now he doesn't even acknowledge it - that's not really wise. Look at SRK - to date when he's asked about Aziz Misra, with whom he got his first big hit, he is full of praises for him, and loudly proclaims he will drop everything if Aziz calls him.

Again I have to say Sushant has been very smart in this regard ... he stayed out of sight except for his stage appearances and dance shows, for almost an entire year ... and now he's back with interviews and public appearances with all the right noises ... news of signing new movies, talking about his girlfriend, she talks about him ... like I said, I don't know the guy from Adam, never watched his show, yet the curiosity factor has been aroused. Plus now his movie is getting great reviews, including his performance in it ... the guy is letting his work speak for him, he will go places. Yep, he had a good break because of Ekta, but he has used it well.

      Delete
    11. Dia,

The way I see it - There is no way BS can acknowledge the influence of ASR on his career without opening a can of worms - the abrupt closure, to his personal problems to the rumors regarding him and Sanaya. In this regard both Channel and PH dumping the disclaimer of serial closure on BS was very unprofessional and unethical. Just yesterday there was a post on the Main forum wherein the topic maker attended the meet and greet of SP people in London and there it seems the officials acknowledged that BS quit due to ill-health and this after 3 months of the show closure. Had SP run that disclaimer quoting his ill-health as the issue then also this damage wouldn't have been this bad. But SP ran the disclaimer saying he is leaving for movies and they told the callers that BS has 3 movie offers(even after 3 months I don't see BS signing 3 movies) so there is no way he can acknowledge the serial without owning up the closure part which honestly I don't think BS wanted or will want to own.

Regarding Sushant and SRK talking very fond of their mentors and their first breaks - the difference is in the way their mentors helped in the break. They were helpful and not proved hurdles in their path. In that sense I feel bad for BS. Not only he has to face the ridiculous disclaimer, he also has to endure the extreme hate and bashing. If I were BS, I would be out of light till my movie releases and yes like Shwethu says be firm to the stupid bashing fans and tell them not to bash all and sundry in his name.

Coming to the part of cameo, I think he is trying to build bridges back with TV world - in case things don't work out he wants to be back to TV. He is 28 yrs old and he needs to be earning for another 10 - 15 yrs and he can't be sitting at home doing 1 movie an year even if deep down that's what he wants to do. So you may see him in 2-4 weeks cameo in this year and may not see him in a full fledged lead role until and unless the fate of his 2 movies is final.

  33. Su - i know you are a gul bhakt but i have to ask you this -
Gul cant do math, we know that but does she also have amnesia? has she forgotten that Rashid had cheated on wife one (and 2) by secretly marrying wife 2 and keeping that a secret for years?
has she forgotten that the SSW came back to wife one with son of wife 2 as if nothing had happened?
and has dilshad also gotten amnesia and does not care that the guy ditched her twice and hurt her kids - she seriously cant say to Asad that he always misunderstood his father?

how can Gul (read the entire team) now conveniently show that Rashid left his wife 1 because Razia forced him to - have they forgotten that Ayan is not 16 but about 24?

    1. Mona,

This is why I can't warm up to the show. How conveniently they seem to be justifying the man's transgressions. The man may not have killed the mystery person but he did indulge in arson which is a crime too. He did betray his wife by clandestinely begetting a son and under the so called compulsions went back to biwi no.2 only to sire two more children (apparently pining for biwi no.1 all along). Now he is trying to get biwi no.1 to get him out of jail when he did not even bother to tell her why he left her in the first place. The show is turning to be more a more regressive. To make things worse the heroine is making things worse with her shrill screaches. Although I was intrigued by this doll factory mystery, now I am beginning to tire of it. The saadhish is getting to be too much.

I think I need to get back to NBT to see what is happening there. While I love Megha and Mohan, I don't like the grown up Nanhi or the new young man who is besotted by her. Ever since that guy was introduced, I've turned off the show but I am still curious to know how Megha and Mohan get back. So maybe will catch it on youtube so that I can FF the portions I don't like.

    3. MB at the moment is confusing me. It is more than clear that RK is madly in love with Madhu and knows it too. What is still unclear is the motive behind his strange behaviour. He seems to have resigned to his feelings in private but in front of Madhu he is all out to show who the master is.

While on the face of it, his behaviour appears to have stemmed from a revenge plan gone wrong by his unexpected feelings of love for his victim, I wonder whether there is more to it.

We know that RK suffers from a God complex. He is a manipulator and loves to be in control of everyone and everything. Losing his father whom he was most attached to at an impressionable age must have made him feel helpless. He has coped with that loss by trying to get control of his life and the ones who are connected to it. He has managed to get his way all along till Madhu crossed his path. The fact that the woman does not cow down to fame, fortune or fate made her an interesting personality to test his strength. While he could not win her over with his hate, he managed to do with his love, which to start with was fake but soon developed into something much deeper than even he realised.

All this time though, he maintained to control the pace and speed at which their relationship was progressing. While his forgiving Mallik was part of the God complex at play, Madhu's finding out about it and the consequent reverence she had for him seemed to help him achieve his revenge objective. However, living with the woman and receiving her unconditional love softened him enough to allow himself to develop deep feelings for her.

Dipali's challenge made him want to test the strength of her love, not that he ever doubted it, but it presented a perfectly good opportunity to again be the manipulator, a role he immensely seems to enjoy. Although her reluctance to come way with him irked him because it seemed to show him that he did not have as much control over her as he thought he did, Trishna's inadvertant revelation of the fissures in the relationship between Mallik, Pads and Madhu because of Mallik's attack on his life presented him with a perfect opportunity to play God again. He mended the broken relationships, partly for Madhu's sake and mostly to safisfy his own ego of being in control.

      Delete
    4. contd...

His arranging Pads-Mallik wedding can also be explained by this need to be the 'Mover and Shaker'. The great RK decides and the rest fall in line. That the cause was a good one and strengthened Madhu's respect and love for him was an added bonus.

Now when the ship of his life was sailing quite well, what was the need to turn it upside down? Here is where I think Ballu's attempt on Madhu's life changed the course. The moment Ballu was set to pull the trigger on Madhu must have been the worst moment of his life. He must have been swept back to being the 12 year old who could not stop his father from dying and leaving him behind. Thankfully Pads saved her life and he was eternally greatful for that. He left no stone unturned to get her out. His guilt at bringing back Ballu into her life made him shy away from meeting her in the eye. The lover in him was happy that she did not think less of him either because of this or all his previous acts.

Now was he serious about leaving everything and going away with her? I am still not too sure about it. I have a feeling that although it started as a test of Madhu's love, he could have got carried away by the fantasy of being free of all responsibilities. The trip to the village must have underlined two things to him. One, he does love all the fame and adulation and was not really ready to leave it all. Two, he did not like that Madhu was slowly but surely gaining control over him. Her existence mattered to him much more than he expected and her brush with death not long ago had instilled a fear of loss. He reverted to his revenge plan as a cover to get away from her. So instead of foresaking the world for her, he chose to dump her to remain in the world in which he is comfortable in.

Unfortuntely the more he was trying to get away from her, the more she engulfed him in his thoughts. As though that was not enough, she has landed on his set, her physical proximity further weakening his resolve to keep her away from him. He is resorting to his tried and tested manipulating skills to unnerve her and chase her away but he himself is getting cuaght in the web he is weaving. Every wound he is inflicting on her is coming back to hurt him twice as hard.

I don't know if I made any sense in all that rambling but as confused as I am I think this is a war between control and compassion within RK's complex mind and poor Madhu is caught in the crossfire.

      Delete
    5. Opti,

your writings on RK made me understand him a little better but I got to admit - One day I am okay with the way the serial is going but the next day I am completely put off. I don't understand the need for constant humiliation for Madhu at the hands of RK. Why? Is it to stretch the serial for longer - but it is really putting me off. Why can't they show Madhu as strong. Is it because of TRPs as the makers may think that unless and until they have RK - Madhu in the same frame the TRPs won't be high. Then they are doing the same mistake that 4Lions did with IPK. Ultimately it is the story that needs to be forefront and not the leads being the same frame. Why can't they have Madhu do some other work and have Madhu-RK meet occasionally and not have Madhu work under RK and have constant humiliation. That 'RK being great' syndrome of the writers is actually putting me off from liking this serial and continuing to watch it on time. I am on/off the MB bandwagon.

I think the Indian Tellywood producers have this golden rule of 'Women should forgive every sin of their husbands be it infidelity or humiliation' and it is like no one wants to break that rule - least they be black listed and tagged forever. Hence you have Dilshad forgiving Rashid even when he seems to have two timed her for 7-8 yrs before he ultimately left her(due to majboori or sazish doesn't matter) and you will also have Madhu forgiving RK(even when he has done all he can to humiliate her). Sometimes these things so put me off because they are very regressive and I can't relate to the women they show in the serial. That's why I can't warm up to any serial.

      Delete
    6. By the way I forgot to mention what is confusing me in MB.

RK has reconcialation with his God and his mother is real. He seems to acknowledge in his mind that it was Madhu who brought about this difficult feat, considering that his relationship with his Bappa and his mom were strained for years. Now if he was indeed such a control freak as I have made him out to be, would he have not thwarted everything that she has taught him, just to show that she cannot influence his thoughts and actions? He does not do that. He continues to respect his God and his mom even when she is not around. He is definitely a changed man and his conscience seems to be very much alive. Then why does he still indulge in the drastic acts against the woman who restored his faith in God (Bappa) and mankind (his mom)?

      Delete
    7. Sarada,

I fully agree with you. The way they make RK swing in his actions makes it difficult to justify or even appreciate the story. Madhu's constant humiliation i becoming a little too hard to digest. How an someone who is supposed to be so in love with the woman hurt her so much and that too for no fault of hers? RK does come across as a mental case who needs his screws tightened. Now that they have blemished the most well etched character in telly world I have seen in a long long time, I hope they retain the heroine as this strong resolute woman they are showing her to be. Yes, right now she is down but she is still not out and RK's redemption (if he doesn't go too far off the path to make any redemption impossible) is made a hard one.

What still keeps me hooked to the show is the intensity between the leads and I am temporarily setting aside my moralistic views to see where they are going with this one.

    8. Girls, watch MB like I do ... switch off brain and all expectations of logicwa. That boatwa sailed long time ago :)))

Come to think of it, that's the way I used to watch all shows, till DMG, MJHT and IPK happened. Bad habit ... to expect logic in daily soaps :)

      Delete
    9. Dia,

You are right. No logic works in soaps. I was a bit disappointed because RK was turning out to be one of the most well etched character till this stupid twist (I wouldn't say stupid track yet because it is quite engrossing despite all the vacillations). Since I have survived more illogical plots in many of the previous shows I've watched (considering I lasted the whole ASR's missing brain track), I'm sure I'll weather this too but I hope they don't go too far in sinking RK. What gives the makers of this show a flexibility to shape the charactet any which way is the fact that he is an actor. It is easy to explain aay the seemingly inexplainable things with recourse to his acting talent but there is only so much they can go as far as this is concerned.

  34. Mona,
The real me: Where have you been? Really missed you.*hugs*

The angry Gul bhakt in me: Grrrrrrrrrrr......:D
Yeah, I’ll arrange for Gul to have tuition classes in maths along with my son. :D

    Back to real me:
***SSW came back to wife one with son of wife 2 as if nothing had happened?

SSW had come with a sorry look on his face (as imagined by Najma who was only in her mom’s womb)..pleaded with Dilshad to keep Ayan.
Dilshad found the bond between Asad and Ayan touching...(Again imagined by Najma who was yet not born)

Dilshad hated Rashid for leaving her and the kids, the second time, and that TOO WITHOUT ANY EXPLANATION...she was puzzled. (I wish I knew what I had done wrong: Dialogue to Asad)

Dilshad could find it in her heart to forgive him , but not let him back in her life.

Dilshad heard from Rashid that he was blackmailed in to leaving him...a secret he wouldn’t divulge as he was delivering property he had amassed in Asad’s and Najma’s names all these years...sort of like a farewell...’in case, anything happens to me...for you and our children...I know nothing I do will ever be enough.’
Dilshad saw that Rashid was hiding something from her- a raaz which could explain finally that she had not misread him THAT BADLY. Yes he cheated on her the first time, for that he has been punished with slavery for 17 years. Allah has decided his penance is enough and has sent THE ONLY PERSON WHO’D BELIEVE HIM AFTER ALL THE WRONG HE HAD DONE HER. This is what Zoya is trying to tell Asad: “Cool down, Jahanpanah dearest...I have more faith in your ammi’s judgement than in you. If she feels he is innocent, there must be something to it...Listen to what your mom is trying to tell you.” (OOOh...I love this girl!)

***The team is conveyoing that Rashid left his wife the second time, ONLY BECAUSE OF RAZIYA..
That is the truth. They were a happy family until Najma’s first B’day, when the fire happened.

And until that point in time, I guess Shireen could only be considered a keep since Rashid had married her without Dilshad’s permission...that is why Shireen left him when she knew about the first wife.

After the saazish, Raziya blackmailed him in to leaving Dilshad--he divorced her and married Shireen. He had WANTED TO TAKE ASAD ALONG(so he did not neglect his children)...Asad refused to leave with him. And I suppose, after that Dilshad, like any self respecting woman refused any help in any form from Rashid.

***“she seriously cant say to Asad that he always misunderstood his father?

You are right. She should be saying this:
“We misunderstood your father. But my hunch was right. I had not misjudged him that grossly...he cheated on me once...The second time around he was forced in to it. So, now I know why he did it, but beta...you are too akdu to even give him a chance...and you have landed him in jail for MURDER. How the hell and WHO THE HELL is going to prove his innocence?

If you had got him arrested for arson, it was a diff thing. You idiot! You got him arrested for MURDER! Do you know how serious that is....wish you’d stop being so damn judgemental and listen to your mother and have faith in HER JUDGEMENT FOR ONCE....”SLAP! He deserved it!

Opti, I hope that answers your Q too.

My POV, entirely BASED ON FACTS FROM THE SHOW.(I am not imagining any of it..just that last dalogue from Dilshad as she slaps...even that, I have just put together what she has been saying over so many epis.) I loved it.

Somehow I can't accept men who betray their wives and worse if they are also cowards. Rashid is both so for me it is poetic justice that he is in jail. I hope he rots there for awhile before getting freed. He's messed up the lives of two families and no jutification of being manipulated by the evil lady will do for me.
