31/3 - Epi 66 ... A Proposal for Paro

Monday 31st March

Rudra needs another danda on his head! What is he up to?!

If he's doing this to flush out Mohini KCM and Sumer, then I can accept it ... somewhat. But again, using Paro as pawn ... not so okay. First it was ... 'marry me' ... now it's ...  'marry Sumer.' Paro's wedding has become a joke ... everybody seems to be using her for their own ends. Hope Paro points that out to him ... if he's doing it only to flush out Sumer and Mohin, then what is the difference between him and Tejawat? And how will Paro ever be able to trust him again?

If he's still not 100% sure about Paro, I am disappointed. I had hoped for a more shatir dimaag.

Anyway, am pretty sure Paro will turn the proposal on its head, by accepting it. And Rudra will have effectively shot himself in his foot ... he can't let Sumer within two feet touching distance of paro, how is he going to let him marry her? No way! And it will be interesting to see him try to get out of this one!

In the meantime, another one who needs a danda is Maithili ... she remembers all that Paro did for her, she remembers that Sunehri doesn't tell lies ... accepted ... but she forgets that she saw a second shaadi ka joda in Mohini's hands.

  1. she did not know that it was a 'second' joda.

LMAO rudy's shatir dimaag is setting his pants on fire. the precap was the best LOL moment in my week.

i was wondering what happened to this guy.. he shouted at her in the kitchen, she extended her hand, he stomped off. he was quiet and calm with her in the bedroom, uncharacteristically decent too.. and he noticed her rudraksha (rudy boy, where are your eyes wandering?) and seemed so melllow..

i hate that sum-air wanted to trade harsh words with his mom. i like him better in his mama's boy avatar.. but then, if we disregard the cuteness of the actor, we get a character who shares rudy's age.. one who is planning to sell his own home to finance his dreams.. one who is a part of many shady deals.. one who double-deals his mom with the thakur.. one who has no shame in accepting a woman-for-money scheme right in front of the parents who raised him. i think samrat-no-expression will do better in that role :P

if it is the start of shiva model parvati testing phase, i think i will really like rudra dancing on hot coals of his own making. and yes, most of the story is flavored in witty sarcasm, i think the humor flew over normal audience's heads.. now they are trying ordinary slapstic comedy with the sound effects to match.

    ah well, TRP maiyya ki..

    1. Nahin yaar, I like Sumer much better ... Samrat no-expression is perfect as background furniture. Though he is not a bad actor, I have seen him in Geet and he was decent. He just has a very badly etched role here.

Sumer's disagreement with his mom is expected ... it has been set up slowly and steadily. His goals are different from hers, he is more of a loafer and a petty rogue than a criminal. And he is the one who has warned his mother repeatedly that her greed and ambition will be the downfall of the family. His fallout with Mohini is not a surprise. I wonder whether his feud with her will be enough for him to betray to Rudra how the fire was actually started, without completely implicating his mother in the process.

My first reaction was that Paro will agree to the marriage, and have Rudra dancing on hot coals at the situation of his own making. But if they go according to the Shiv-Parvati story, then Paro will refuse to marry anyone else ... and may turn the tables on Rudra by demanding marriage with him instead ... then what will he do? But by bringing Sumer into the mix as a possible candidate for Paro, Rudra has done wrong ... I did not like that. If he had brought Aman, or another perfectly eligible bachelor instead, that would have been a true test.

  2. Dia, twist in interesting and make the viewers to turn on their tv to see what's next. But as you said, Paro is being used as pawn..I'm looking forward to know her answer.... btw maithili definitely needs one whack from Paro's danda...She came up to remembering shaadi ka joda...then left with that....Lets what happens next.

    1. At least Maithili remembered that much ... now all Sunehri has to say is that she never actually saw Paro's face, and it might ring a few bells ... MIGHT. But thank God she at least remembered that Paro had saved her from the goons, and stood up for her in the adoption fight ...
Maithili is somewhat justified in her stand, because she has no reason to doubt Sunehri, and Sunehri always liked Paro, so Sunehri has no ulterior motive in accusing Paro.

I am waiting to see how Paro will tackle this situation. Am not sure whether I like it or not ... have to wait and watch :)

  3. dia,
ALERT:on venting mode, the post may extend a lot.apologies in advance.

i think i really had enough of this. From ur post,i gather that you are not so impressed with 2nights epi but for me,this was the ugliest of the twists i hve ever seen on indian tv.see i can tolerate anything, but marrying off the heroine to the lead's sibling/cousin/friend is one of the twists i hate the most.u can't imagine how angry i was after watching the epi,it really took some time to cool down.FOR WHATEVER REASON,THIS COMPLETELY TURNED RUDRA A VILLAIN FOR ME.I never really liked his character in the 'laila' side and now this.
From the day RR began,we all are expecting a passionate, quality love story and seriously, all we got was some flickering flashes of it and a show filled with tension, worry and violence with some really catchy BG scores[have to admit that one,the songs really draw one close to this serial].at the end of each epi, i used to say to myself that one day it'd get better and good like IPK but seems that day will never come.i knew that the story was dark, gruesome but to this extent that it never had anything except negativity predominating!!!the CVs kept the audience at the edge of their seats with parud marriage happening/not and finally it didn't inspite of trusted SBS/SBB repeatedly saying that it will.as u know,i was disappointed.again,i said,it'll be good but now realised that was in vain too.

really,i'm not so upset at the fact that rudra asked paro to marry sumer for his maafi.[at that point,i even thought tejawat thakursa was much better,he had much more respect for the baaisaas it seems] but the fact that this show is never going to improve.i generally don't believe in the TRP system, but the trps are falling from the past week and this will bring the trps crashing down.As my mom said, the general audience would not want to see such tension before going to bed, they would prefer naitik-akshara over this and that's exactly what the trps are indicating.there are even rumours that RR is under scanner[i hope its not true] and colors has reduced the shows promotion compared to MB/BI.the CVs really need to wake up and do the needful and try atleast to bring some pleasant moments in the show.they can't test the viewer's patience beyond a limit and mine already seems to be over.

I am a lover of subtle love stories.i loved KMH1,geet,ipkknd and even the asad-zoya scenes in QH in its initial phase,rk-madhu,saras-kumud scenes[the latter though selectively].the beauty and innocence of a love story is what i like the most.i still gul for her works and miss her here.that does not mean i didn't like parud,i simply loved them and RR.the jodi and the story has a great potential that is terribly underused in the show.i had much greater expectation from gautam hegde and janki v and even ST[madhubala never dropped to this negativity that i had to run away from the tv watching it .the cvs had always listened to the audience demands and see even now, vivian is brought back due to the same reason]
paro is used like a puppet by rudra, forgetting that she is a state witness who saved his job.honestly, paro deserves someone better than rudra though even i want to see their marriage.
i don't know how many of u watched kahin to hoga and kasamh se?i didn't but have heard of it.in kahin to hoga, kashish married sujal's friend in front of his eyes but they loved each other.it was just an MU.yet,it was not accepted by viewers.but here, there is no pyaar but intense hatred and revenge.the thing is that i didn't pay to watch a KEKTA serial in RR.hope they improve it soon otherwise its a temporary alvida from my side to watching RR but will follow R&R.
dia[and all other friends],thnx a lot for having patience to read this post.dia,if u hve any optimistic views about the current and future tracks of RR,pls share.again,i was just venting out, don't scold me pls, sorry again.expecting a detailed reply,
    ratna.

    1. Ratna, vent away ... I am annoyed too, but I will wait and see how this plays out.

From the main forum, I gather that this is a test Rudra is putting Paro through ... like Shivji put Paro through a test by proposing a young eligible handsome man for her to marry ... who was actually Shivji himself in disguise. And Paro refused.

But there Parvati had already declared her intent of marrying Shivji, Here there is no such intent ... in fact, Paro is herself wondering why she is so bothered about Rudra's forgiveness. They should have built up the love from Paro's side more before giving this twist ... it doesn't seem plausible (to me, at least) that she has gone straight from hero worship to love ... and it is unacceptable to me that she has to do so much penance for an unthinking mistake (of trusting Tejawat) and of a crime she never even committed.

The only thing keeping me going is that Paro is not a typical bechari ... every time Rudra challenges her, she comes back with an answer that stumps her, and he can't do anything. She swore she would not put mehndi, and she burnt her hands rather than put it, he had to force her, then had to tend to her burns. She swore she would not marry him, and hit him and ran away rather than marry him ... she returned only when she saw Tejawat's true face.

What is Rudra trying to do here? That's what I don't understand. Has he seen her feelings for him? And is that why he is testing her? Has she come back for his forgiveness, or for him? Is he trying to make her face her own feelings? And when he is so anti-women and anti-marriage, then why? If she agrees to marry Sumer, what will he do? She will marry Sumer and leave the haveli ... has he really thought it through? The only thing he will have achieved is to break up the Mohini-Sumer duo ... if he is even thinking of that.

And if she refuses to marry Sumer, then what will he do? Say that he doesn't forgive her, that her penitance is not genuine enough for him to believe? Either way, what does he achieve?

Or is he just using Paro to break up the Mohini-Sumer duo ... does he suspect either of them to have a hand in the fire? He caught Mohini snooping around in the room when Dilsher was alone ... does he even think about that?

As for Paro being a state witness, Rudra seems to have forgotten all about that ... that is the worst written part of this story. She is not Rudra's puppet for him to decide whom she should marry every second day ... kabi bol diya, marry me or sign a paper, kabhi bol diya, marry Sumer or I won't forgive you.

I think the cvs definitely need to bring in some light moments, some pleasant moments ... there is no respite from the grimness here. Yesterday afternoon I was watching YRK on the repeat, and even with the tension there, it was a pleasant watch. Here there is just no positivity at all. I remember I gave up watching MB even sporadically when Madhu was insulted and humiliated in a party ... it seems GH and ST love doing this to their heroine. And Saurabh Tewari's style is very filmy ... there is no subtlety in his shows at all. In IPK, we used to keep guessing at the symbolism, here it is very much in your face.

Anyway, the only good thing is that Paro is stronger than Madhubala was ... she does hold her own, and she doesn't stay down for long. So let's see what happens over the next couple of days ... I am sure she will pass this strange test, and emerge with flying colors ... she has to, if this is based on the Shiv-Parvati tales.
