TV This Fortnight - 16th - 31st July

Am finding that most of the shows I was following off and on are all at an unwatchable or uninteresting stage at the moment - really have nothing else apart from Chhanchhan that I am liking!

Veera - I am waiting for the leap now. The kids are losing their charm, the scenes are repetitive and the story is not progressing an inch. Heard that the leap is planned for August-September, but they have not finalised the actors for the lead roles yet. Ratan is irritating me big time, and Veera was cute earlier, she's precocious now.

Qabool Hai - have lost track ... Zee has been removed from my box, and uploads are difficult to find. From the updates, it seems to be going better than the rest, but not enough to motivate me to hunt actively for links.

Madhubala - is the pits these days ... the only sparks i find these days whenever I tune in, are in Dipali and Sikki. Dhrashti is looking dead beat ... she must be exhausted with JDJ and MB.

Na Bole Tum - another show going in for a revamp, I heard that Nanhi, Beera and Addu are going to be out. So what is left? Mohan Megha are happily married, what is left in their story? As it is, the winding up of the Beera-Daddu track has been abrupt and silly. And Addu's extreme hatred for Mohan does not make sense, so much hatred that he can jettison his own sister and mother's happiness. Lost connect with this show.

Gave up on Meri Bhabhi in the second week - another pious do-gooder SP bahu who is a know-it-all, an obsessed dad, a weepy nanad, and a dumb family who can't see past the newly returned son-in-law's tricks ... and don't trust the son of the house, who's the only one who can. What really annoyed me - the bahu not trusting or siding with her own husband, and siding with her FIL instead ... and lying to her husband.

On the other hand, have been tuning in more often to
Pyaar Ka Dard Hai  ... it is more watchable these days.

Balika Vadhu ... Jagya-Sanchi-Ganga track continues to hold my interest ... although, as before, the show is so slow moving that it's strictly a once/twice a week watch. The new Anandi ... I was withholding judgement till she settled down ... but she's had enough time, and she is not as good as the first one. Again, the Shiv-Anandi marriage is a happy one, so no story left there ... except now Sanchi will try to disrupt it .. *yawn*. I like Anandi's old family much better than her new one.

Indian Idol Junior - Little Sugandha singing Meri Maa ... speechless! Am watching this regularly ... I'm so glad there will be no eliminations! All the kids are so good, it's really unfair to eliminate any of them! And it's a pleasure to hear them sing!

  1. Veera and NBT: Agree with you Dia. The only two shows which held my interest are barely managing to do so now. I am getting irritated with Rattan these days. How can someone not love the adorable Veera? The woman could forgive her dead husband for his infidelity but she could not still accept the innocent child because she had promised her God that she will accept her only if her husband returns to her. I fail to understand the logic here.

NBT: I can understand Addu's resentment of Mohan. He was always shown to be manipulative even as a kid but his transformation into a hardened criminal is becoming too hard to digest. Looks like chennel interference is hitting the show.

MB: I am happy that Sultan has turned negative as I expected. Rishbala have started working for me again although I agree DD looks tired after the strenuous training for JDJ where she is putting a reasonably good performance.

  2. Try to catch the Tue epi of QH. It was good for Asad- Rashid (Rashid was stunned into silence, when it hit him how badly his actions have scarred Asad! He did not have a single dialogue.)and Gaffur- daughters. Will try to update later.

    2. Thanx, Dia.

I wouldn’t really know what interests you...I recommended this because it is a far cry from IPK- the family moments- the twists in relationships, of their own making. And these two scenes were shot well- felt like I was watching a movie.

If U liked it, do check out Wed epi also...the forum seems to have liked that better.

Chand Raat: Asad barely looks at the moon- he cannot take his eyes off the chand in his life...iss chand mein dag nahi hai- unfortunately, he is the one who has been tainted- and he says that much.

There was a time when he laughed at her and told her that she would never make a good wife or bahu- a misconception that stumbled out in the bhang effect- Zoya had laughed it off in her inimitable style with a ‘You are so mean, Mr. Khan!’ Yesterday, Asad came a full circle with ‘Yaad hai maine kaha tha ki tum mere layak nahi ho...lekin main tumhare layak nahi hoon...Ummed hai aap samajh jayegi’- he cannot bring himself to talk about that fateful night of infidelity.

A beautiful Mangalpur moment too- when they had returned from the adventure, Zoya had become so used to him that even when the handcuffs were removed she felt she was tied to him...”Mujhe lagaa main ab bhi aap se bandhi hoon”. She did the same yesterday- she raised her hands to stop him, and he almost stretched out his hands too- before withdrawing it- beautifully done.

Chand Raat: Liked the beautiful family moment in Siddiqui house too...a brief explanation of the significance of Ramadan.

Humeira as Rajani is bold and cute...people have started warming up to the character in this ‘Dissociative Fugue’ avatar.

    3. This page seems stagnant! *wink*

QH: Gul makes sure she has milked the Tanveer track to cover all melodrama possible....and I love the way she does it.:D

All about Zoya respecting Asad's decision...

Asad is still unsure about the hasty decision he took- not Zoya. She is shaken by the truth Tanveer has shown her, but her heart is in the right place. She puts the child in her position- she can respect Asad for owning up to his mistake- NOT RUNNING AWAY FROM HIS RESPONSIBILITIES.

If it was not for Tanveer, would we be seeing this aspect of their relationship?

A woman supporting her lover's decision towards an unborn child..supporting him in his act of sacrifice- lessening his burden a bit.

Only a bit…since the words that almost escaped her mouth..on how she had been drawn to this very aspect of him.…made him feel all the more guilty.

Stop punishing him like this, Gul…He has a gem of a woman sitting next to him…and he feels he doesn't deserve her …

    4. Surbhi rocked in this scene- she totally nailed it with a perfect quiver of her chin.

  3. MB: Back with a bang! At least for a while, for me.

RK is on a trial- and here comes the dhamakedaar entry of one of the best lawyers in tellyworld- supported with powerful dialogues and a passionate actor playing the role. Wonderful! If the judge looked pretty stupid for letting RK off on self defence, the prosecution more than made up with a stellar performance that convinced ‘Your Honour.’ After a long time, I watched a gripping epi of MB- Thank God I missed all the drama with Sultan.

(So I guess Sultan staged the whole thing to frame RK...but does he think Madhu will ever forgive him for making a murdere out of her hubby- there is no way he can get Madhu now, unless he does Plastic Surgery! I think he simply used Madhu as a pawn to get RK riled up enough and went ahead with his original revenge...downfall of the superstar who took away his childhood! Even the lawyer could be hired by him in anonymitry.)

NBT: Caught a Cricket match- This couple finally seems to have conversed, going by the confident ‘I’ll be back’ by Mohan, encouraged by a silent look of understanding from Megha. I could be wrong, since I have not followed it for quite a while.

    1. This actor playing the lawyer- I must say I am pretty impressed, again.

    2. Vinay Apte, the actor playing the public prosecutor is excellent. He seems to be totally at ease playing the role without sounding very affected as they show lawyers to be in the shows. His dialogue delivery is superb and Raghuvir Shekawat's line are piercing.

Looking forward to both RK and Madhu getting the proper dressing down for all their sins and follies. Madhu is all set to fall straight into the PP's trap of getting her to bribe him. He can discount her credibility as a witness if he argues that the woman will do anything to save her husband, even go against her own principles of not giving or accepting bribes. In Mukhund's case she had sopken against use of money power to thwart justice and the PP could very well point that out now.

Madhu's involvement with a hardened gangster too needs to be highlighted. The stupid girl is still wondering how he could have changed. A man whose conscience does not trouble him when he snaps the necks of people as though they were chicken cannot be put on the same platform as a man who is disturbed he accidentally killed his adversary, not because he does not deserve it but because he was human after all.

I too think this is an elaborate plan of Sultan to trap Madhu and he may demand that Madhu leaves RK in return for his freedom.

NBT: I am thoroughly disgusted with the show and am not too keen to watch Vasu-Rukku-Megha triangle. Why does colors always ruin its own shows? BV too is going through high voltage drama for the past three-four days which is revolting to say the least.
