Major ChhanMan tension as Sonali changes her statement about her fiance's name ... Manav is upset and furious that Chhanchhan could think so badly of his mother. Uh oh ... dikra is back.
But he does ask his Umaben if she is fully happy with Chhanchhan, despite having to change so many rules for her ... of course Umaben reassures him she is doing all this out of love for her children ... pretty unarguable.
The ChhanMan tension persists unabated ...
Chhanchhan still perturbed ... asks Umaben the same question, are you happy with me as bahu? Umaben is very smart in her answer .. she actually told her the truth and made it sound like a lie ... but it seems Chhanchhan is not swallowing it now ...
And Umaben discloses why she does not want Chhanchhan as a bahu ... she changes too many rules, asks to many questions, and challenges Umaben's undisputed fiefdom ...
One loop closed, and some questions answered ... Sonali did not know that Manav was married, the tattoo parlour meeting was an accident ... but now that Sonali does know, she is still all right with marrying Manav? Or did she agree to change the name for some other reason ... like not wanting to rock the ChhanMan marriage? Sonali is still an unknown entity as of now ...
More cracks appear in the Mukut-Kaumudi relationship ... it's not just that Kaumudi is too involved in the housework, Mukut seems to have some problem with her otherwise too ...
Umaben appears at night in ChhanMan's bedroom - does she make a nightly visit there every single night? Presents Chhanchhan with a new suit for the barsi and an alarm clock ...
A barbed conversation between ChhanMan ... 'the alarm clock does not work ...' 'that's because the battery is loose, there is nothing else wrong ...'
Both equally certain that they are right in their thinking ... she still suspecting something wrong, he still sure that nothing is wrong ...
Dadaji has an attack of "I think I'm dying" at night ... the doctor tells the family it's all in his mind and if only he could get rid of his delusion that his wife is residing in that kalash and actually mourn her death, he will get better instantly ...
In Hindu tradition, ashes are not kept in the house ever ... they are never brought back home after cremation ... they are taken straight for immersion ...
So Chhanchhan decides to do the needful ...
Next morning, Dadaji throws the grandfather of all tantrums at his precious kalash going missing ... and Chhanchhan appears with the empty urn ... she has immersed the ashes in the Ganges at Sabarmati ...
And tomorrow there is going to be major drama ...

What a cracker of an epi. Loved the taut storytelling and the loops getting closed. I think finally we can sit back and enjoy the drama. Glad to see the base being laid for other tracks (Mukut-Kaumudi) etc. As always waited for your take before watching the epi.
ReplyDeleteEnkay,
DeleteThe episodes are getting better and better ... and now finally the real tensions are starting! I cannot skip a single scene in the episodes on re-watch, unlike IPK, where I used to skip many of the Anjali-Shyam and other silly scenes.
And now with more challenging scenes, Sanaya's acting skills are being utilised more and are coming to the forefront!
Another good episode.
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed ChanMan scenes, especially the bedroom one. Sanaya and Anuj did it really well. The creatives are laying down the foundation of Mukut-Kaumudi track. That should be another interesting one. Did you notice how UB was not pleased with Mukut' s comments about Kaumudi' s kheer. I think they will revisit the the story of why Mukut left home and how UB had to convince him to come back, something the makers hinted at in an earlier episode. Kaumudi is favored by UB subtly over other bahus...so there is lots there.
Right now, the only thing the creatives need to get right is Sonali and Thakkhar Bhai story to make this track impactful. Dia, I wrote this in an earlier post, the question which arises is if ChanMan break up and he agrees to marry UB's choice (highly unlikely, but for argument sake) then how were UB and Sonali planning to cover their lie? What would Sonali tell Manav that she indeed was engaged to another Manav and broke up? Will Manav believe her?
I really hope that we get to see why Sonali is agreeing to play the tricks UB asked her to...today was very brief and unconvincing.
All actors are doing a good job, creatives need to just up the game each time. Tommorrow should be one dhamakhdar episode.

Uma,
DeleteExactly .. Umaben is not thinking ahead at all. If - for arguements' sake, she does succeed in breaking up the ChanMan marriage, or even managing a separation, then produces Sonali as the candidate for second wife for Manav, that itself will be enough to tell Manav that all Chhanchhan's suspicions about Umaben were well-founded ... and that will be the end of Sonali.
That is why I feel Sonali is the dark horse here. She did not know Manav was married, she listened to Umaben's description of CC with a very ambiguous look on her face ... and all she said was -I will do as you are saying.
If Sonali has any sense, even she will realise that she has lied to Chhanchhan and Manav about her fiance's name, so if Umaben does make her meet Manav again then Manav will also know she lied. Unless Umaben plans to make Manav agree to the rishta without even seeing Sonali ... possible, as he did agree the first time round to marry a girl of his mom's choice. But why would Sonali agree? She knows now who Manav is, and that he will recognise her.
I loved the bedroom scene ... excellent background music and the tension between the young couple was portrayed brilliantly, the way they kept looking at each other ... both wanting to talk, hurt, upset, but neither willing to back down because both felt they were right. Like the way CC is going with ehr instincts on this one ... she is definitely now on full alert about Umaben's plans, and will not be caught napping again, so Umaben has her work cut out for her.
And like I hoped, Manav is also more alert, although he is interpreting things differently ... but again, Umaben knows she has to step even more cautiously so as not to give him even a hint of what she is planning. So she has to be extra sweet to Chhanchhan when Manav is around.
Will be interesting to see how the cv's take this!
