3/7 - Epi 59 ... The Machinations Continue

Wednesday 3rd July

Umaben's machinations continue ... with some almost hindrance and some lucky help from inept Sanjana.

Umaben encourages Chhanchhan to talk to Ranjana ... Sanjana almost gives the game away ... UB swiftly sends her off, and silently encourages CC to talk to Ranjana. The rest goes exactly as Umaben had planned ... Ranjana doesn't tell CC anything at all, and gets annoyed as to why Chhanchhan is stopping her in the first place.

Manav goes shopping for his wife ... that was funny and cute at the same time ... his nervousness and awkwardness in a women's lingerie shop .. and his abortive phone call with Mukut  ...
All that I wanted Arnav to do for Khushi, Manav is doing for Chhanchhan!

Sanjana obligingly cuts her finger ... just strengthens Umaben's case. To strengthen it further, Umaben sends a worried Kaumudi off as well ...

Manek calla Ranjana ... Ranjana tries to get romantic again ... Manek offers to share his chooran with her ...

Sarabhais reappear! Dadi dreams of UB taking dog training lessons from CC! Not happening, Dadi! Chhanchhan calls Dadi for advice ... Dadi tells her to listen to her heart.
That's where Dadi went wrong ... Chhanchhan needs to use her brains this time ... forget her soft heart!

Manav returns home, all excited about the honeymoon ...
Can't CC see that Ranjana is quite happy to go to her maayka? And Manek is also quite relaxed about his wife going ... and so is Umaben ... CC, you really don't need to worry so much!
Umaben plays the overburdened with work brave martyr MIL card to perfection ... house work, now looking after grandson too ... poor overworked MIL!

Manav comes home all excited and ready to leave ... so do Simple and Himanshu ... uh oh ... the honeymoon is being cancelled literally at the door ... no wonder he gets so hopping mad!

And Umaben is delighted at the first cracks in the loving ChhanMan marriage ... finally her plan seems to be working!

Poor Chhanchhan tries her best to persuade Manav and explain to him why she cancelled out ... he is not interested. Like all men! Chhanchhan is very upset ... caught between angry husband and overworked mother-in-law ...

Precap - Manav already cooling down ... and wondering where Chhanchhan went.
Am looking forward to tomorrow!

  1. Liked today's episode. Sanaya was really good and Anuj did well too.

Glad that the young couple are behaving like a normal newlyweds.

Manav getting upset should be expected afterall he was so excited about the trip and does not know the kitchen politics of the house and how his mother operates. The one time he noticed, he thinks it was a one off and after hospitalization his mother has turned a new leaf.

Another thing I felt was a lot of sympathy for Ranjana, she can be irritating as a character but her reasons to be so are quite genuine. She very frustrated with her marriage and life. Her scenes are often humorous.

You are right about Chhanchhan not noticing that Manek and UB are not very perturbed about Rajana leaving, but in her defence, she is being made to feel so guilty and made aware about the number of concessions she is getting, that she is blinded. She is desperately trying to make a place for herself in a household where she already knows most people think she is a misfit. So anytime any issue is pointed out it looks bigger than it actually is.

You are so right about Arnav and Khushi, this weekend, I started watching Arnav and Khushi scenes after 6 long months and I kept getting the feeling of "what if"...

    1. I liked the episode a lot ... can write on almost every scene in depth today!

The scene of Manav and Himanshu in the lingerie shop was also very cute and so realistic ... Manav, a romantic but very new husband, enlists the help of his only friend, Himanshu - quite a disastrous choice, as Himanshu is even more clueless than he is! When Manav becomes a little more experienced as a husband, he will ask Rushali or Simple for help ... not Himanshu!!!

And also their behaviour in the shop was bang on ... Manav embarrassed yet determined to get his wife a sexy honeymoon gift ... and ends up choosing almost the first thing he sees :)))
Manav embarrassed again when the shop lady starts to get annoyed that he's pointing at another customer, and quick to point out that no, he's pointing at the mannequin ... he's a good boy, he really is!

Liked the way the shop lady relaxed a bit after Himanshu said Manav was choosing a gift for his wife .. satisfied with his credentials and his intentions :)

    2. And yes, I totally agree on Chhanchhan's dilemma ... she's a young bride, new in her sasuraal, trying her best to fit in ... she thinks Umaben has accepted her completely and is now doing her best not to rub anyone the wrong way ...

And there is Umaben making it a point to rub it in again and again how many rules have been bent for her, and how upset other bahus are getting at the preferential treatment, how the rhythm and unity of the house is being disrupted ... Chhanchhan is caught in between a rock and a hard place here! And if she goes off for her honeymoon, Umaben will just have another thing on the long list of grievances ... she has already added it even before they have gone!

I think every new bride feels this way ... I remember when I was newly married and my husband wanted us to go out alone, if my in-laws made any remarks, I would feel guilty and awkward, while he was blithely unconcerned ... in fact, often he did it purposely to prove a point to my MIL.
My MIL was quite possessive too and it took her a while to let go of her son! So the situation really rang true for me :)))
