What a complete turnaround in the last two minutes of the episode!
Good episode again ... had all the elements of family, humor, Umaben getting some more payback from Dadaji ... Manav-Chhanchhan and a total turnaround at the end!
Cute scene with the brothers ... moaning and groaning after their forced yoga session, and grumbling about how Manav used them to get his wife out of trouble. Manav smirks, completely unrepentant ... Mukut remarks that Manav is newly married, hence this concern for his wife, later his wife will forget about him in the worry about all her domestic responsibilities - seems to be the problem that Mukut has with Kaumudi. Umaben slides in a snide one about Chhanchhan becoming the same and forgetting her husbands in the midst of household toils ... Manav is sure his Chhanchhan will be different.
Troubled Chhanchhan goes home, where among the noisy Sarabhais, she tries to sort out what to do. Of course her perceptive family notices ... after a while! Chhanchhan makes up a story of a friend who's marriage has been fixed elsewhere ... Dadi advises her to tell her friend the truth ... CC's dad, more perceptive than the rest as always ... he always has his antennae up for the least sign of trouble for his darling daughter! I love Papa Sarabhai! Chhanchhan has trouble trying to calm his apprehensions.
Back in BS zoo ... lunch is ten minutes late so the bahus, all of them, get a lecture.
Umaben tries to slip some blame on to Chhanchhan - because she went off to her maayka, the rest had more work to do.
CC is all of two weeks old in the house ... how much work does she do?!
Dadaji is not impressed with the excuse, and rightly so ... if one bahu is missing, it doesn't mean the punctuality suffers. And he gives them all a lesson to learn on Punctuality ... including Umaben! I loved that!
And the lesson is in English ... even better!!!
All the bahus feverishly trying to decipher the English ... Chhanchhan comes in and solves their problem ... translates for all, including Umaben. And her suspicions are high ... she checks with Umaben about the kangan ... Umaben has an answer ready, but CC is not swallowing it now.
Bahus recite the lesson on punctuality for Dadaji ... except for Umaben ... she hasn't learned anything!
ChhanMan in bedroom ... Chhanchhan still worried ... plucks up the courage to tell Manav about Sonali. Manav believes her, and they decide to check out Sonali's story. He's ready to walk out of the house if his mom is really up to such tricks.
Park the next day ... they meet Sonali ... Chhanchhan shows Manav the kangan ... check.
Joint family in business - check.
Place of residence - check.
Name - Manav Nagar.
Total turnaround!
Sonali denies she ever said Manav Borisagar ... she said Manav Nagar.

Tellytadka video and E24 news segments - both are similar, the SaNuj segments are a total riot! After SaRun, I am really enjoying SaNuj, Sanaya and Anuj are both equally loud and talkative and fun ... and it's great to see Sanaya laughing and joking around with her costar again!

Cute one! Sanaya irritates Anuj by talking about Barun! And Anuj says she is like him, they both don't think before they talk! No wonder they get along so well, their off-screen segments are a hoot. Especially the last couple of segments seem to indicate they get along really well!
Agree with Anuj that the story has gotten stable post-marriage. Hope what the article says is confirmed by the TRPs when they come - that the show has stabilized post-marriage.

Another fab episode and a cliffhanger of an ending. Loving the way the show is shaping up. I rewatched the last part and the way Sonali acts makes me believe she is in cahoots with UB rather than her dad asking her not to take Manav's full name. No traces of hesitation. No remorse/guilt. It seemed premeditated.
ReplyDeleteIt is interesting that they did not show the engagement FB. CC is slowly realizing UB has not changed as she thought she had. I don't think she realizes what extent she has gone to break up her and Manav. I have a feeling the MU will stretch till either Manav or CC leaves of her devious nature first hand.
As always, I look forward to reading your take on each epi. Fab job as always.
Thanks, Enkay, and very interesting observation ... after reading this, I went back and re-watched too, and you are right. Sonali was completely confident and unhesitant about refuting that she ever said Borisagar ... so she does seem to be in cahoots with Umaben. So does she know Manav is married? And she is still happy about breaking up his marriage and then marrying him?

I think Chhanchhan will wake up to the real nature of Umaben, and will now be on the watchout for her tricks. I don't think she has realised that whatever Umaben has been doing till now have been attempts to discredit her in Manav's eyes, and those of the family, so that Manav himself throws CC out ... or she is forced to leave. Once she realises that, then it will be very interesting to see how she counters Umaben's moves... and what role Manav will play. Will he be a complete Ahem dikra, and swallow everything his mom says? Or will be sufficiently warned, that although he doesn't believe CC currently, he does become more alert to what is happening around him, and start suspecting on his own accord? If the latter happens, it will be interesting ... he does not believe CC but he keeps an eye out for her and continues helping her ...
Unless Dadaji takes over that role ..
The show is becoming more and more interesting ... let's wait and watch!

ReplyDeleteWhy did Manav not believe CC when he himself knows first hand how devious his mother can be, with the drama she did the first time around, to make him come around? Has UB redeemed herself with the fav DIL act in his eyes?
I guess UB caught on to CC's suspicion when she grilled her about the kangan...and alerted Sonali.
That means Sonali knows now that CC is married to Manav...but she is willing to play along to get a MIL who gets her heavy golden kangans even b4 she is engaged.
That scene at the tattoo parlour- apart from the name revelation, it gives a glimpse of Sonali's character...she is willing to compromise. She is modern and brave enough to want a tattoo, but when she is reminded of UB's conservatism- she is willing to forego her individuality- exactly the type UB would want. So long as she feeds this girl golden kangans, she will sell her soul to the devil.

Manav did not believe CC outright, but he did not outright dismiss her suspicions. He said that if she felt so, he was ready to check out her doubts, because he trusted her enough to know that she would not say a thing without reason. And he was ready to walk out of the house with CC, if her suspicions were well founded.
DeleteIt was only after Sonali backtracked on the name that he doubted CC, because Sonali denied she had ever said the name Borisagar. She didn't even say she had made a mistake - she outright denied it.
Sonali does seem to know that Manav is married ... but she is still ready to marry him. Are they going to put in aback story about her knowing him from college and being in love with him ever since? That was one of the rumors floating around. There has to be a reason she is ready to marry a married man, especially one who is in love with his wife.
Interesting take on Sonali's character - modern enough to suit Manav, who is the most modern of the four brothers, and obedient enough to compromise on her own wishes for her saas. Not so uncommon, and not necessarily a negative ... many girls do make a lot more compromises than that for their in-laws. So she would not be a bad match for Manav - if he wasn't in love with CC, of course. CC is trying to compromise as of now, but from her character sketch, she will not make compromises on her basic ethics and values ... which Sonali might be ready to bend on. CC is a far firmer character, which is why Umaben feels she is a bad influence in the family. Apart from Umaben's own personal prejudice, of course.
Forgot to add, what makes Sonali negative is her apparent complicity in trying to break up the ChhanMan marriage ... not her backtracking on the tattoo. The kangans ... so far I don't think she is just greedy like Ranjana ... she may have other reasons for agreeing to the match.
DeleteAgree with you on Chhanchhan's nighty - of the four or five shown so far, I like the pink one the least. My favorite so far is the white and lavender, that was beautiful!
Two good episodes back to back and the story is getting more interesting. What a cliffhanger they left us with! There can be several theories as to why Sonali is doing what she is, but to me what is coming out clearly is that she is in cahoots with UB, with or without her father's knowledge. But why would Thakkar Bhai have any objections when he handed over money to UB at the very venue and the day Manav was getting married to Chhanchhan. The interesting part is Sonali' s backstory/motivation hope the creatives give us a convincing one. Her sweet demeanour is covering a lot. I don't think the tattoo parlor meet was preplanned but everything following that was.
ReplyDeleteUB maybe alerted by Chhanchhan's questions about kangan, and like usual she could be loitering around ChanMan' s room and overheard their conversation. Sonali bumping into ChanMan at the park was also very convenient. Did Chhanchhan know her schedule, for all practical purposes they are strangers.
Now in retrospect some scenes the creatives emphasised are falling in place:
. Manav thanking his mom after his marriage for caring for his happiness and giving her consent, he has completely bought UB's act of having a change of heart and accepting Chhanchhan. So, now it will be difficult for him t believe CC right away and may take time to come around.
. The Puch Puch episode where Manav for the first time felt that CC could be making mountain of a molehill and is misunderstanding UB. So, there is already a base for him to feel CC is unfairly targeting his mom. He is convinced that UB is going out of her way to accommodate Chhanchhan.
. In the last couple of weeks they have shown Manav expecting help from UB to extract CC from trouble, be it Dadaji' s punishment or other things, so he clearly feels UB is in CC's side. UB also played along by showing her fake concern in front of Manav.
So, I think the initial phase will be growing misunderstanding or differences between Manav and Chhanchhan, and Chhanchhan's inability to prove or show anything concretely against UB. This is where I feel Dadaji will play a big role. They have already shown him to be quite perceptive and he has seen and heard about Manav's love for his wife. So, the growing distance between them will be evident to Dadaji and he may play a crucial role in at least bringing ChanMan to talk to each other if not solve their problems fully.

DeleteUB is too clever to let anyone know of her true colors easily, so Dadaji may not know the full extent of her subterfuge but he will be clued into the fact that all is not hunky dory between the young couple. I think that is the reason why the creatives spent so much time emphasizing the love and support between ChanMan which was clearly demonstrated in front of the entire family. Dadaji' s love for his own wife is the reason he will have empathy for Manav's suffering. This also falls in place with what Anuj was saying that Manav will be caught between his mom and wife.
Dia, your take is also interesting that Manav may not believe Chhanchhan completely but he will be alert from now on...let's see how creatives take it forward. Chhanchhan will be suspicious from now on, don't see her reverting back.
At some stage the ChanMan relationship will deteriorate to a point where Chhanchhan will return to Sarabhais, that is the reason, I feel they have always shown a supportive family and a father who is always looking out for Chhanchhan and ready to shield his daughter at first sign of trouble. This has to play out sometime whether it will be now due to Sonali trouble or later at another time, I can't say. The Sarabhai family will have to be weaved into the main story sometime.
The two new entrants Dadaji and Sonali seem like counter balancing influences in ChanMan relationship, one pulling them apart and other trying to keep them together.
The show has really become interesting and you are right Dia with this new twist I am now not that worried about the pace of the show anymore. I am also enjoying the diffrent family scenes and doses of humour they are injecting.

Loved your analysis U. That is what I feel too. This track is heading towards a MU that will draw the battle lines clearly with CC and UB facing off. Manav will be caught in between not clear which way he should be going. Wish the show was 5 days a week.

Sonali is cahoots with Umaben for sure. As Enkay pointed out, her volte face was very calm and confident, no hesitation whatsoever ...
There was an article when the angle of third wheel was first introduced, that the girl was in love with Manav from college ...
Now Manav did not recognise Sonali, and neither did she apparently recognise him ... she might be pretending, but he was not. So the idea of Sonali being in love with him from college days is a bit far-fetched, he would at least remember her face as being familiar. But there might be some other occasion where they met, Manav has forgotten, but Sonali obviously WANTS to marry him ... badly enough for her father to agree to all Umaben's demands and despite Manav being in love with CC. Her story might be something like an obsessive lover, a spoilt child who fell for Manav and now will do anything to get him. Don't know if she will go so negative though ... but there has to be a reason why Thakkarbhai is so willing to accept all UB's demands to get his daughter married to Manav.
I also noticed - there have been 2-3 scenes of Manav-CC tiffs recently, over Puchpuch, over UB ... they made up very quickly, but the base has been laid. So we will see some growing differences between Manav and CC ... hopefully CC will be wise enough not to say much more to Manav directly, but will wait it out in the hope he sees it himself. However UB will try to increase the differences, and I think she will be successful in the initial days.
I think that is when Dadaji will step in ... and you're right, Dadaji and Sonali will be the two opposite forces, Sonali pushing CC-M apart, Dadaji pulling them back together
Anuj also said that CC will turn Karamchand ... so CC obviously will not fall for Sonali's ruse and will do some more investigation ... maybe that is where the Manav-CC relationship will worsen to the point that she moves back home. Even if she doesn't, I think the Sarabhai family will stay involved ... this PH is good in utilising the entire cast and also in balancing the families. And that will be good to see.

Sonali lied to Chhanchhan about her fiance's address and name in front of Manav, so another question which arises is...say hypothetically, if ChanMan break up (highly unlikely, but just in case) and Manav agrees to marry UB's choice, how are UB and Sonali planing to cover up this incident. Won't Manav question Sonali? Is she going to say that she was indeed engaged to another Manav but broke up and will Manav believe it?

I have the same doubt that I pointed out earlier...why did Manav believe a stranger over his wife, considering there was the very suspicious history of someone having tried to taint CC on their engagement. Didn't watch the show, so I don't know if CC tried to convince Manav much. And did CC mention the kangan?
To me, it looks like UB is alerted- so CC will go about a non- productive Bond track. She might not be able to expose UB so soon.

Now looking forward to see her performances at Gold Awards and Colors Eid celebrations. Colors Channel seems to be really trying to woo Sanaya, first JDJ, then rumors of guest appearance in Big Boss and now this. Won't be surprised if her next show will be in that channel. Anyway, happy for her...hard work and talent is finally paying off.
