What smell was it that disturbed Babuji ... that was never quite cleared up. Also, did Umaben actually make Babuji forgo his dinner just to prove her point to Chhanchhan that dogs were persona non grata in the BS house?
Probably not ... Umaben already knows that Chhanchhan has a very strong sense of family and right and wrong ... just the hint that PuchPuch can create trouble is enough to trouble her ... hopefully enough to send the dog packing? Or enough to send CC home with her dog?
ChhanMan at night ... Manav getting all romantic, while Chhanchhan is worried about her dog! Poor Manav takes it quite sportingly ... coming second to a dog in his wife's affections is not great for a man's ego!

Next morning Babuji announces the arrival of the most-feared Dadaji for Dadiji's barsi ... and everyone quakes in their shoes. Except for Chhanchhan who is merely curious as to why everyone is shaking at the thought of the man ...
Manthan and Ranjana go through their flashbacks of their terror days ... Dadaji is apparently a school headmaster in his other life ... a headmaster of the old orthodox 'spare the rod and spoil the child' school of thought.
Manav tells a curious Chhanchhan that Dadaji is very strict ... there might be trouble ahead ...
Umaben arrives and reinforces the statement, adding that she has a headache at the mere thought, and it would be better to tie him up. After some more similar statements, she clarifies she is talking about PuchPuch ... not about Dadaji ... Babuji is relieved, and Chhanchhan is even more thoughtful.
Chhanchhan asks Manav to check with Umaben ... she doesn't think Umaben is happy with PuchPuch being there.
Methinks Umaben could have taken the opportunity of Dadaji's arrival to banish PP back to his maayka ... but of course, Umaben has already seen a window of opportunity to banish both PP and his mistress ... kill two birds with one stone ...
So she reassures Manav that she doesn't mind PuchPuch being there, and Chhanchhan doesn't believe her only because CC hasn't accepted her as a mother ... also clarifies her night escapade with PuchPuch, just in case CC has told Manav about it ... UB has figured out that CC and Manav talk to each other a lot so better to play it very safe. And of course lay the foundation of blame of non-acceptance on Chhanchhan ...
Manav is taken in completely, it appears ... and assures his mom that he will tell ChhanChhan she was mistaken ... his mom loves PuchPuch almost as much as she, CC does ... does he really believe that?
And in between, Umaben orders new gold kangans for her new to-be bahu ... unfortunately Chhanchhan sees them, but no matter, Umaben slides out of that situation too ... and after talking to Manav, she speaks to wannabe bahu and tells her about her new kangans.

Seemed like a lot happened in today's episode, maybe because there was glimpse of two new entrants in the show.
ReplyDeleteAt least now we will know why Thakkar Bhai was ready to give so much money to UB to have his daughter married to Manav. Remember we were discussing this, what gives? Now we will know about this girl...hope the creatives have a proper story.
Dadaji looks more like a stickler for rules and traditions than UB.In the sense UB is not really a traditionalist, she just uses and bends them to serve her end. Dadaji seemed more like a strict rule enforcer like Dina Pathak was in the film Khoobsurat, but good at heart. Well, from the two flashbacks that is what it seemed.
Will be interesting to see how UB is as DIL and very sure Chhanchhan will impress Dadaji in future.
Both Manav and Chhanchhan still believe that UB is nice at heart, just strict from outside. They have not caught onto her games yet. Chhanchhan just feels UB is grudgingly agreeing to things for their happiness.
I am sure Babuji had dinner, that dialogue was only to rub it in...the Drama Queen that UB is.

Dia, about your comment about IPK 2, I doubt if SP will have second season if either Sanaya or Barun is not available. However, they may entrust Gul to give another romantic saga with Sanaya and another hero, but the story, cast, name of the show and feel all has to be different. IPK without Sarun is just not possible...SP will have riot on their hands. Sarun and IPK are too popular and entwined, difficult to separate one from the other.
ReplyDeleteI agree though SP and/ or 4 Lions might try to woo back Sanaya for another romantic tale with a new hero, if IPK2 does not work out. Right now, my gut feeling is IPK2 is a difficult proposition, Barun will only be onboard if his BW dreams fizzle out and something else does not catch his fancy. To be honest despite so many interviews I still cannot understand why he so desperately wanted to quit the show, he was never clear about his reasons. Any news about his films?
You mentioned Karan Wahi, Gautam Hegde tweeted yesterday that Wahi is trying for films when asked by a fan about possibility of his show with Sanaya. There seems to be a big surge in all top TV male actors trying to make it in BW.
Now for some venting. This is something unrelated to the topic above but about Sarun fans, not only will they not allow IPK2 without Barun but the way they are trying to put down Sanuj is appalling. The tweets they send Anuj and the posts they make on IF is bordering on sickening obsession. Yesterday I read a post which upset me...wanting Sanuj to fail, but wanting Barun to do well in BW. They were celebrating the TOI article about odd jodis. Some actually wrote they are nervous about people forgetting Sarun because of Sanuj!!!
Yet, the same people want Barun's fan group to grow and succeed in his projects. This bias against Sanaya and relegating her to just being Barun's jodidar irks me. Is it a wonder that regressive shows where women pull down each other and men go scott free are popular?
For this reason, I want her to have a super successful show before she does any project with Barun again. Sorry for the rant just needed to get it out of my system.

IPK 2 , I feel will not happen. Most of the cast has moved on, and it will be difficult to assemble the technical team that created IPK-1. Plus, I have a feeling Gul will not be interested in working with Barun on a show, EVEN if he is...that is also a Q mark, since Barun has made it expressly clear that he cannot commit to a project for more than a few months. And most PHs try to run a show for at least two years. So, I really don't see IPK 2 happening, since 4L and Barun can exist without each other. The big BUT is SP putting pressure on both the parties...which again is unlikely, considering their high handedness in dealing with their productions.
Sanaya doing a show with 4L- I got a hint from one of Dia's posts that she was offered something already , but she chose it over CC...Is it confirmed? I find it difficult to believe, since if she was offered something immediately after IPK with the same team, I think she would have taken it- LM had talked about taking the entire cast, but I don't think that was a 4L project.
Sarun fans are not Sanaya's fans...they are simply Barun's fans. I think the Q is not if Sanaya would be able to recreate chemistry with another actor, but if Barun would be able to do it...without the support of a brilliant actress like Sanaya and the technical team. I agree Sarun chemistry is definitely better than Sanuj, but a huge part of the credit also goes to the creative team. I can see Sanaya working with 4L, not Barun as of now...unless he gets over his restlessness. (I feel doubly bad for Sanaya when I see how Karan and Surbhi are both equally committed to the project- I think it is a pleasure for a PH to work with a team like that, because Karan even contributes to Asad's wardrobe- he brings in his personal preferences to make the character look authentic- takes professionalism one notch up.)
The reason why Barun quit: He sounds confused in all his interviews- even the recent SBS- I hope he made the right choice, for his sake. IPK was a love story that required a lot of screen space from the lead couple, thankfully QH is not. That is because the shows are written like that. IPK was a romantic comedy purely, whereas QH is a romantic comedy in a family drama...Sarun had to work harder than KaBhi(Karan- Surbhi). Barun had to quit, because he felt he was compromising on his dreams and his family...
I wish some channel made teri meri love stories type of show...where Gul would contribute some stories with Sarun...For now, I don't see Sarun happening for any other reason.

DeleteI agree with you about SaRun and IPK2. If Barun comes back to TV, then only will IPK2 happen ... also if Gul wants him after the last fiasco, of course. It seems that SP is okay with having him back, judging by the IPK re-run, though I could be wrong on this - they might just be using IPK as a way to increase their international viewership. Seeing their huge ego as a corporation, and the fact that Barun did not stay back despite their repeated attempts, I personally have my doubts, but nothing is certain in showbiz - if they feel he will sell, they will take him.
Just after IPK ended, and while Sanaya was still on holiday over new year, 4 Lions announced their new show for Life OK, and that they had roped in Sanaya. The show did not work out later, and Sanaya also denied that she had signed it. I heard from sources that the show was very much planned ... Which means that Star was happy with Gul, and Gul definitely wanted Sanaya. Now with the success of QH, and the failure of the 8 pm slot and of SC, SP will be happy to get both 4 Lions and Sanaya back, and 4 lions will be happy to take Sanaya any day. Gautam Hegde's tweets are clear evidence of that.
Regarding Barun ... I don't know. If he doesn't return to TV, SP will not make an IPK2 ... but I think they can and WILL plan a new love story in IPK-style, probably with Gul, she has proved herself with IPK and QH both. Sanaya with a good actor is enough for that to happen ... the creative team was at least 50% of the IPK success story, Sarun were the other 50%. With Sanaya, they have 75% in place :)))
The Sarun chemistry cannot be replicated ... but a new, equally sizzling chemistry CAN be made, if Sanaya is paired with another good actor in a good show. The success of the Sanuj jodi is evidence of that. 4 Lions just needs a committed actor for a lead, all their other actors loved working together, and will happily come back again, however many of them are available.
Barun - I agree with Su ... unless he can commit to seeing out an entire show, I doubt Gul will take him on. She's had too many bad experiences with actors wanting to leave for BW!!! If she does take him on, and he does a repeat, she will make sure she replaces him at the first hint of trouble! And this time SP will not stop her!
KSG is committed because this is his second innings ... he was flying equally high after DMG, he followed his BW dreams too, his film flopped/wasn't released, I forget which. If the same thing happens with Barun, he will come quietly back to TV the way KSG has done ... and I bet he will forget all his nakhras about long working hours, no holidays etc! Shwetha was telling me about Ronit Roy ... he was asked about long working hours on TV, and he remarked that it beat sitting at home with no work for 8 years any day!
About Sarun fans ... again I agree with Su ... they are not Sarun fans, they are closet Barun fans ... and I'm equally disgusted that educated girls of today can have such warped attitudes. Being a Barun fan is not an issue, but wishing bad for his co-actor who contributed so much to the show and to the jodi, and who kept the show going when Barun was following his dreams, and actively following up that ill-will by stupid remarks on social media sites ... it shocks and saddens me, that girls can have that attitude for another woman. That's why they say a woman is a woman's worst enemy.
DeleteAnd I think half their problem is not only that Sanaya has made a new successful pairing, but the fear that Barun will not be able to make another one. After all, Sanaya had already a successful show and jodi to her credit with a very average actor before SaRun, and Sanuj has already started getting appreciated, when CC is a saas bahu show. While Barun has only one hit pairing to his credit. So half their venom is due to jealousy and sheer insecurity ... which is why so many of them are following CC so very closely and losing no chance to take digs at it! And if his movies flop, then God help Sanaya ... their viciousness will get even worse. If he succeeds, at least they will have a place to drool ... and might leave her alone.
The other problem is that BS has disappeared from sight, MAMR release date keeps getting postponed, shooting for 22 Yards has not started yet ... he is in a limbo. So the contrast between him and Sanaya, who is very much in the limelight is even greater. CC has generated a lot of buzz, even if not the TRPs.
I may be in a minority, but I really don't want to see Sanaya work with Barun again ... not until he has sorted out his life and his priorities. And am TOTALLY with Uma on this ... I want Sanaya to have another success under her belt before that happens, IF it happens.

DeleteKSG's movie did not release, and even though it is with Diana Hayden- he does not want it to be released now...I guess it pales in comparison to the work he is doing now.
And from whatever I have read or understood,his BW dreams did not clash with the PH or channel...it was worked out, and I think he returned after the movie- the team managed to pull it off somehow. I think they roped in Karan Wahi as a new character to fill in during his absence- even now Wahi fans appear at the QH forum bad mouthing KSG and wanting Jenny to leave him and marry Wahi- LOL...
Taking off as a lead for a movie and returning, only to quit...well, I think very few actors will be short sighted to do that- in the recent iv at Jaipur, Gul emphasised that both SJ and KSG are VERY happy with QH...I hope it stays that way.
I think it is not just the second stint- KSG is very proud of his shows..even now when people ask him about his fav character, he says Asad gives him a lot of scope as an actor, but he had fun doing Arman- and he is well grounded when he says numbers do matter. I don't know if he learned all this the hard way. But he did talk about balancing a movie with QH in the early days...QH is easier to manage, considering they have excellent cast to cover up his absence. Apparently, Karan and Surbhi are going to South Africa for 10 days, and the bank has already been created.
MAMR: There is no way the chemistry is going to be any great with Mrs. Right. If Barun's fans are looking for chemistry there, they are plain mad. The film could be a success for other elements...actually I think they are mighty disappointed with their hero and can only vent out at Sanaya- frustrated much! They don't dare come to the QH forum, bashing 4L, because KSG fans rule.(Actually there is a lot of comedy going on there between KaJen and KaBhi fans too...*Entertainment*.LOL.)
I agree with you on Barun's previous work. There is no doubting he is a great actor- but for chemistry, he needs a good co-actor, as does everyone. Sanaya has proved herself, staying within the limitations of the script, twice without him. If anyone is out there comparing, now it is his turn.

4L show with Life OK- San and 4L have not confirmed it, neither has Life OK- could have been a rumour, because QH was still an infant then. I think Gul would at least give 6-8 mo to a show, before she plans something else. If at all there was one, either Gul was not part of it, or they had planned it for much later, I feel. Between Life Ok and Sony, San made a good choice.

DeleteI had read only the GC article. On the life OK show, Gul confirmed it and it did not work out between the channel and the PH...I guess it was a hurriedly made up plot to accommodate the IPK team, as LM had promised.

DeleteKSG did not leave DMG for his BW dreams, there I stand corrected. He was flying high with DMG, he became a household name and he was giving major problems to the cv's on the sets, came late, left early, they had to do many scenes using BDs, but they put up with it because he was the life of the show. He left because of his personal issues - had a fling with Nicole, his choreographer on JDJ, then got involved with Jenni ... Jenni came to know about his fling with Nicole and they had a major showdown on the sets, she refused to shoot with him, and his marriage then blew up in his face ... so he was in a big personal mess and the cv's had to ease both of them out. But he never burnt his bridges with them, he was smart enough not to do that, and he always acknowledged that DMG was the show that got him fame. He had also done 1 or 2 shows before that, but DMG was the one which made him famous, even on a channel like Star One. Because he kept his bridges intact, cv's eased him out, he sorted out his divorce, I think he did his movie at the time ... cv's kept his track open and when he was ready to come back, and when fans didn't stop asking for him, they brought him back. But the show had gone down, there were major fan wars whether Riddhima should stay with Sid or go to Armaan, and finally cv's shut it down after a 3 year run. KSG NEVER badmouthed either the PH or the show, nor did he EVER say he wanted to quit it. He has ALWAYS acknowledged the huge contribution of DMG to his success. Which is why he is still their favorite ... Nissar was the brains behind DMG.
Plus of course he is a damn good actor.
Sanaya is the same - she always acknowledges IPK and says how she loved working on the show. Her bridges with 4 Lions are very much intact. Gautam Hegde is now with Nautanki, and I guess that is her connect to Nautanki now - it's all about networking and connections. GH is not exclusively with Nautanki, though - he used to write for 5 shows, SNS among them - I remember from an old interview.
San had two offers after IPK, apart from CC - the first was 4 Lions right after IPK ended, for a show that was scrapped due to differences between Star and 4 Lions, I guess they came up with the concept in a hurry and could not come to terms with Star. Then she had two offers in hand - CC and a lovs story with Nautanki - Do Dil Ek Jaan. She chose CC. Between the two, I also feel she made the right choice ... the start of CC was disastrous ... but now I'm enjoying it thoroughly.
If I compare Barun and KSG, both are similar. They both did mediocre shows earlier, before DMG and IPK, both hit success with their third show ... both messed up their careers thereafter ;) with KSG it was personal issues, with Barun, umm, er I don't know! :)))
KSG has salvaged the mess and come back strongly, not in BW, but on tv. Remains to be seen what Barun will do. If IPK had continued, he might just have done the same as KSG and returned ... unfortunately fans did not give him or the show the chance. So he is worse off than KSG currently - got badmouthed for quitting, and has no choice but to wait it out for his movies to release. On top of which, with those idiotic statements about going brain dead and being tired with the hectic schedule, he has made other TV producers wary of approaching him. He should have kept his mouth firmly shut at the time, and just said he's leaving for personal reasons. Now if his movies don't click, he is in a bad position, and may not have too many options open for him. So for his sake, because he is such a good actor, I hope at least one clicks - if it does, it's more likely to be 22 Yards than MAMR, so his fans are in for a long wait, 22 Yards hasn't even started shooting yet, from what I hear.
Dadaji is reminding me of Bhaabho's saas in DABH- she was a terror too, and Sandhya won her over after some initial misunderstandings...so much so, she was given prefernce over Bhaabho also. I guess UB will never bend down to her FIL the way Bhaabho did.

On IPK2 .........I wonder if San would go and work with 4Lions ... she is now working for a serial that airs 4 days a week... so she gets a day off , the PH is obviously treating her like a queen -- look at her dresses/screen space etc. 4Lions is very badly organized ... their management is bad and that results in them overworking their actors... I remember that even Buaji complained that they did not have a bank. Note KSG had not shaved for more than a week ( not sure that's his gum wala look)! .... so will she go back to working 29/30 days @12 hrs a day? She also has been vocal on the working hours for 12 hrs means for her atleast 3 hrs more of travel to and from the sets ..... and more during the rainy season .... and more if there is traffic. So some practical considerations too for IPK2 to happen.

Though you have a very good point about working hours. 4 Lions is back to their old disorganised ways, they don't have any bank in QH either, and their actors fell sick in Rajasthan so they had to cut short the shoot. After working with a PH which is much better managed in terms of banks, shoots etc, San might also have second thoughts. The flip side is that she loved the IPK cast and crew, and has been with them a long time ... some of them were on MJHT too. So I guess it would depend on many factors.
And totally agree with you on Sanaya being treated like a queen here ... I am so in love with her wardrobe! Plus screen space is so much better balanced ... though it was balanced in the beginning of IPK too ... things went haywire only after SaRun became such a rage.
I personally doubt IPK2 will happen ... but another IPK type love story with 4 Lions and Sanaya - I think SP will push for that.

On Zoya's wardrobe, she had commented once that the costumes change with the tracks- it did so too, with IPK. Khushi's dressing sense would have developed , had Arnavji given her a chance. *wink*
QH has a good bank- whoever gave you that info about QH wrote wrong. Not just the actors, many of the crew also fell sick during the shoot- but that was not the reason they had to cut short. They couldn't shoot in Ajmer because the crowd could not be managed.
I don't know about Ajmer so much ... that was what I read somewhere. But when they shot the merger QH-PV episode, they were shooting cut to cut.
DeleteKhushi's wardrobe was TERRIBLE, Su ... after marriage it was worse than before. And the good suits she got, she wore them barely once or twice, the awful rainbow ones with broad borders she wore all the time. The rakhee suit was very pretty, we never saw it again. Same with the pink and orange ones she wore at the airport and in UK respectively ... they were pretty and well-fitting and we barely saw them once or twice. It was as though the PH WANTED to make Khushi look bad!

Khushi's wardrobe- Dia, QHians complain about Zoya's to- she has ery few good clothes...but the ones for special occassions- are really good, like Khushi's- all her party wear was phenomenally good, I felt. Reg wear- they are both supposed to be loud and unfashionable- Zoya doesn't care about fashion, and Khushi was chamkeeli....CC is a modern girl with a good sense of fashion...
The first merger - with Gurmeet and Kratika. I'm not following the show currently.
DeleteIf 4 Lions had got their act together and actually have banks, this is really good news for them and QH. It means they are following their story the way they want to. I guess each show is a learning experience for them too, and they are getting better.
Now if only they could come out with a new concept for their next show! :)))
LOL, am not comparing Khushi and Zoya ... am comparing Khushi and Chhanchhan! After marriage, they could have given Khushi slightly better clothes ... like I said, the few decent ones she had, they never made her wear again. Chhanchhan's suits after marriage are completely gorgeous, and I can't stop drooling on her nighties ... that was a shiddat of mine for Khushi, and it never got fulfilled.
