Uma Ben is getting in deeper and deeper in the quicksand ... it's not so easy to be an example for women's progress ...

Chhanchhan with friends ... the pamphlets have their effect and MM women join in droves ...
And the friends renew their vows ... including the dowry vow ... which has them all remembering Purvi's recent tragedy and all the troubles which followed ... a group hug ...
Manav's brother calls ... and is puzzled to hear a girl's voice ... he doesn't wait for explanations ... but he's wondering ...
Friends teasing Chhanchhan ... hehe ... cute! Sooo typical!!!Mr Susu is now Mr Bechara!
Chhanchhan and Manav finally talk ... loved the conversation, especially the way it started, with both knowing exactly who was on the other end, no 'hi hello' ... totally casual, friendly, normal ...
(SN - I DO wish Farhan was a better actor!)
Sanaya was soooo adorable in her expressions, especially the last exasperated 'pheoof' when she sees her friends giggling behind her!!! And Himanshu was hilarious the way he was creeping around behind Manav on the bed, trying to listen!
Chhanchhan and Manav meet ... and CC discovers that Manav is a mamma's boy. And that his house is like a military camp, complete with 'training' of the bahus ... the contrast in her home, where everyone is free to do what they like, and variety is accepted ...
Cute convo ... simple, normal ... she tells him about Sanju's call, he tells about the watchman's phone ... they know each other's nicknames ... exchange of gifts ... and an invitation to a dog's birthday party ... actually a normal conversation!
And Manav's brother sees Manav with girl ... which apparently is a very big deal in the Uma Ben household ...
So next week there is going to be some dhamaka ...

So next week there is going to be some dhamaka ...
Today's episode was well Balanced and direction was good. As usual our sunshine girl rocked along with born actor Supriyaji :)
ReplyDeleteHi Dia,
ReplyDeleteThought I will see all four episodes of this week and then post. This week the show felt a little more settled. I had a feeling this whole thing might just work and show will be around for over a year.
To be honest till now I was not getting a good feeling about the show. Sanaya and Supriya can pull audience till a particular point, the storytelling has to be engrossing. I am not bothered that I can predict the broad structure of the story, when the show was being called "Modern Bahu", one could figure out a lot. It is how this story is being told that gets audience. The show is getting better, but still needs more finesse and subtlety. Tone it down a little, especially the "being the do-gooder" parts. Let the falling in love be slow and subtle, this creates magic. In one day both CC and Manav figure out the golden hearts each has...concept-wise- good and execution- not so good. Keeps reminding me of Sanaya's radio interview of being able to execute well what is in script and narration.
BTW, loved her interview. Can't figure out what propelled me to like her above other TV actors...her off-screen persona or her on-screen talent. Respect her dedication to work and I pray that whatever she saw in the script is well portrayed on screen. Glad she is aware and thinking of many things viewers are concerned about...I don't see Khushi anymore, nor am I thinking of IPK when I see CC.
Though I wanted to see Sanaya in JDJ, after hearing her reasoning, I totally feel she made a wise choice.
Now coming to my concerns about some scenes and Farhan's acting. The lake rescue scene was good but don't know why but I feel there should be some... as they say in Hindi..."thahraw", a slower pace. The whole thawing of hostility between Manav and CC was bit hurried, it could have been done step-by-step.
Now coming to FK, I know he is working hard, he is a rookie but can't help feel the scenes would be so much better, if only he could give better facial expressions and voice modulation. Most daily soaps have several episodes which are average but actors take it to another level...sigh...Arnav, Khushi, Manorama mami, bhuaji, Shyam... the list goes on. FK is failing in that. Today the restaurant scene was enjoyable only because of Sanaya. As the story moves Manav will have many important scenes, will FK deliver? Feeling bad saying this...but casting department took a huge risk. Keep wondering how much time should be given to him to get into the groove. Even Sanaya seemed to wish in her interview she had more experienced co-actor. Sometimes it is not only about time spent on a show but capability too, I was remembering Sanaya's co-anchor on Zee TV's Valentine's Day show...Karan Grover...they had such cute chemistry.
If the makers had another newbie with FK maybe it would have worked better, but with Sanaya and Supriya the difference is too stark. Even at the photo shoot Sanaya and Supriya had so much ease, but Farhan looked stiff and nervous. Well, the producers seem to be sure of him and think time will make him better...I hope it happens before audience dwindle. I wish him luck. Now I can see how much off-screen comfort adds to on-screen chemistry! :)
Rest of the cast is doing well. Has CC's fourth friend changed? She is good though.
Supriya P is fab in her scenes and Uma Ben is very intriguing and liked the twist today with Manav's brother... good hook for next week. Also, want to know more about Uma Ben's husband next week. BTW again did Rajana and Sanjana tell a lie to UB...no follow up on that today.

Wanted to add Sanaya looked GORGEOUS in the white suit!

Uma,
ReplyDeleteAs usual, soul sister ... I agree with you in most of your comments :)))
The week as a whole - I feel the show is settling down. This week the episodes have all been pretty enjoyable, the camp trip was nice, and it was good to see an outdoor setting. All the episodes this week left me smiling and waiting for the next day. My only complaint was that the camp got over very quickly - I would have thought they could have had some more practical jokes, some scenes between Rugved-Mansi, some more games in the group, a little more tension between CC and Manav. I felt the makers rushed the Manav CC thawing ... maybe because Farhan was not able to do the angry nok jhoks effectively.
The lake rescue scene was not very well done, though the conversation once CC wakes up was better. Basically Farhan is still very awkward, he is improving, no doubt, but he is the weakest actor by far. All the side actors have settled into character - Himanshu-Simple are cute to watch, Rugved and Mansi were sweet, though they had very few scenes. The phone conversation today was cute, but the cafe scene was somehow not very good again. I kept my eyes on Sanaya (who was looking particularly stunning in white, so that was NO hardship!) and Manav's brother, whom I like from his earlier show.
So agree with you ... and with Sanaya ... the execution is not the best, it is jerky and the pace is uneven. Again as Sanaya said, the first three months of a show are always the critical ones, the show is in its teething phase and it's the time during which problems are identified and ironed out. And given the fact that the PH is experienced, and so is most of the cast, I think it will settle down. Already the third week was better than the first two, and the fourth week has been better than the third.
Coming to Farhan ... he is the weakest actor of the lot. It's not his fault entirely, he is new to the field, and he is trying his best ... but for one, the entire cast is very experienced and are all good actors - Sanaya and Supriya are exceptionally brilliant actors, and even Himanshu is very good - and those are the actors with whom Farhan has had the maximum scenes. And in all the scenes, Farhan has been unimpressive ... even with Himanshu, forget about Sanaya and Supriya. I think casting such a raw newbie with such a good cast was not a good idea at all ... the contrast is too stark. I was waiting for a month to pass judgement ... so far he is not up to the mark.
And he is not comfortable with the other cast yet ... in the photoshoot segment, he was stiff and awkward, while Sanaya and Supriya, even in the middle of giving their stern expressions, were smiling and chatting with each other.
Rumors are still around that he might be replaced ... I think if the negative feedback grows, the PH will change him. I only hope they don't make the same mistake again and bring another newbie ... they should bring in a more experienced actor if they do change him. Half the industry wants to work with Sanaya, don't know why they are experimenting like this!
CC's friend is the same ... I remember her from the wedding scenes. I guess Ranjana and Sanjana's story was only to start the suspicion in UB's mind about Manav - they probably went to their maayka and returned :) They were not there when Manav and Mansi returned from camp, but were there the next day when the ladies came.
Sanaya's interview ... I became her fan because of her acting and her character Gunjan, a boring character, but which she managed to make interesting and most loveable. I remained her fan when she did Khushi, a character which most other actresses manage to put me off - the usual bubbly, chirpy, slightly silly girl - Sanaya made me love Khushi, not the other way around. I think she MADE Khushi ... Khushi made Sanaya popular, but Khushi is a household name today because of Sanaya. I think the entire industry has recognised that.
ReplyDeleteAnd my respect for her has only grown with each off-screen segment of hers that I see or hear. Intelligent, articulate, straight forward, says it like it is ... very honest, yet manages to be diplomatic ... she is a rare breed in the entertainment industry, and definitely in the TV world. She is a working girl who gives her best, works honestly and with full dedication and commitment ... I think she would be a very loyal friend to her loved ones, judging from her loyalty and dedication to her work. And similarly, she could ruffle a few feathers because of her sheer honesty and 'saying it like it is' personality. What I like best about her is her self-deprecating attitude ... never have I heard her praise herself, it's always about her faults.
So I really wish her all the very best ... always want the best for her ... so hope CC does really well for her sake. For myself, I will watch it anyway, regardless of TRPs etc ... I like the character, I am enjoying the show, and watching Sanaya's sunshine smile makes me happy. :)))
Hi Dia,
ReplyDeleteNow that we are exchanging notes, let me share more of my stories.
I started watching IPK by sheer accident. I saw the ads on TV but as I had not followed any Indian show after moving to States, I did not tune in. I only used see DID, Indian Idol and things like that. Right now I get only four channels, so was glad that Sanaya selected SONY show rather than LifeOK because I don't get the latter. Of course online websites are there, but watching shows on TV makes a difference. Even with CC the episodes feel better when I see them on TV.
I was looking for something on YouTube and came across the parking lot rain sequence in IPK and that caught my attention. Two good looking actors and nice camera work and music. Started following IPK regularly from the Nanital track and I was bowled over by Sanaya's comic timing and she just won me over from then on. She was great with all kinds of scenes and despite Khushi being mangled by writers, for their convenience, Sanaya got to portray all kinds of emotions in IPK and she did them all well. I agree with you that Sanaya made Khushi, that is the fundamental reason that I feel she is extremely talented. Not many actresses can do that with a weak script. She has a rare ability to lift a scene with her screen presence and acting. I always felt that she is a better actor than Barun. Barun is also very good, but I felt she is just better. I understand that these kind of things are subjective, but this is my opinion. She made Khushi popular with bad characterization and Barun being talented and Arnav being written well could make ASR legendary.
I was happy that LM mentioned it in his interview, and GH also said in some recent interview that Khushi made peace with her parents death so she was easy to write but Arnav was complex and focus was trying to give him layers. Kudos to Barun and IPK team to make it work and he got awards to prove that.
After I got interested in Khushi I searched online to know more about the show and actors and came across India Forums. Through IF I got to know of SBB and SBS. I was even more impressed seeing her interviews and I became her fan. I echo everything you said about SI -intelligent, articulate, honest and straight forward. Also, she is very generous and never tries to hog limelight, another rare quality in entertainment field.
I was in India for a long vacation in November and so missed the entire uproar about IPK shutting down. Was not online regularly then. In one way I am glad because of all the mud slinging that happened. SI again impressed me by standing up for Gul. As far as I know she was the only one who did that and took heat for it. From the little I glean now, she is still facing some of that negativity, at least online. I never joined IF and now I just feel aversion to excessive fawning and bias on either side. Hence, when I came across this blog, I was delighted :))
ReplyDeleteSorry didn't mean to bring all that here, but it is part of my Sanaya story :) Now you know which side of the fence I stand. I have my opinions about the show shutting down and all the controversy, but the time to express all that has passed and this place is not right. I remember in one earlier post you stopped all that...I agree. By gones...
Ok, so CC is the first show I am watching from episode one for Sanaya and also for Supriya Pathak and learning about TRPs and show's teething problems etc. Have no clue what IPK initial months were like, if it also started slow and then became such a success, then I wish the same for CC.
Dia, I will also watch the show till the end despite TRPs. I enjoy seeing Sanaya on screen. She has such a screen presence and beautiful smile. Want to see her getting awards. I am so glad that now she is getting so much media and industry attention, they are acknowledging her talent, which got drowned to some extent with Arnav mania. Better late than never.
On Farhan, I agree it is very unfair to blame him entirely for low TRPs. I can clearly see that he is working hard, but will that be enough...
I am sure he has given an audition for this role, but did they do a look test with Sanaya? The photo shoot showed FK's lack of comfort with her. All I wish him is loads of luck.
Sanaya's interview was really good. She addressed a lot of questions I had. As long as she and PH are getting the feedback, are aware of problems they need iron out, things will only improve.
My SIL (a huge Arnav fan) and I (Khushi fan) used to have interesting conversations, now I have managed to convince her to at least give CC a shot.Got my mom to see CC and told my in-laws too (but they are DABH fans). That is another question I had, how many people, who are not on any forums, are watching the show?
I would love to join conversations on other shows too, but not seeing anything else except Masterchef. Weekend TV time is reserved for Star Trek marathons, my hubby and I are trekkies :)) (My husband pulls my leg and asks how was "Chum Chum" today? He quite amused :) )
Well, again I have gone on and on...but I did enjoy it...will keep watching this show and be back for more discussions.
BTW, every time I sign off can't help but chuckle to think Supriya P is Uma ben. I am South Indian and my husband is North Indian so I get called Bhabhi by some, but "ben" would have me laugh out loud :)

Uma,
DeleteWill come back with a longer reply ... but I do know a few people in AD who are watching Chhanchhan, my mom among them. She was a huge fan of Arhi and of both Barun and Sanaya, she was a bigger fan of Barun than I was ... yet she is finding Farhan quite okay, and doesn't understand the fuss about his acting.
I know more people in AD who loved IPK, a couple of my aunts and uncles were among them, and they all enjoyed Sanaya's acting a lot ... I told my mom to tell them about Sanaya's new show :))) Don't know if they are watching it yet ...
But some other AD friends who are major dog lovers, are watching it because of the dogs ... and enjoying it too.
IPK did start slowly, I remember ... that was the first show I watched from episode one ... because I got hooked to Sanaya during MJHT and wanted to follow her new show. I remember I got very put off by Khushi's characterization in week 2 or 3, and then by the office track ... felt it was very amateurishly done ... plus I dislike Gautam Hegde and his brand of humor, he tends to make all his female leads chirpy and silly. I had experienced that with Nupur in MJHT, so when Khushi looked like going the same way, I almost gave up on the show.
I think the guesthouse track was the one which hooked me completely ... and by then Barun had totally settled down into his character too. That was mid July ... just over a month into the show. The rain hug had already happened, but that did not impress me as much as the guesthouse scenes did ... that was when I saw the fiery side of Khushi for the first time ... and of Sanaya :))) ... and the first layers in Arnav's character.
Here Chhanchhan doesn't have many layers ... which is a pity, because Sanaya is excellent at expressing emotions with just her eyes ... but it will be interesting to see her in an author-backed role for the first time, and see what she makes of it. She made a remark about DABH once, that she would have played Sandhya differently ... this show is like a modern DABH in many ways, so let's see what she does with it. That is another reason why I feel that once it takes off, it has a chance against DABH. The lead lady in DABH is very weak, but Bhabho is good ... here both CC and UB are excellent. Keeping fingers crossed ... let's see.
Adding this here, because Ragini's VMs are AWESOME!!!

P.S. Thinking aloud wonder if BS and SI will ever come together for another project...
That was a fun vm :) Just thinking aloud...wonder if BS and SI or for that matter other IPK team will ever work in any project together.

CC is a good concept and it has improved a lot after a thanda start good job cv's but it has two major flaws execution and male lead farhan. See the problem is people can ignore lead if execution is good and vice versa but in CC's case both are a major problem so even if the episode is good something is lacking. I think farhan should be replaced as soon as possible because that will make the show work to some extent.Like I said diya the guy is not made for acting I am sorry to say but he looks like a champu while acting with sanaya. Instead of making statements like don't compare me with barun and blah blah he should work on his acting because if he facing wrath of audience he himself is the reason. He was making tall claims I rejected this show and blah blah blah now suddenly he says I am a baby like really idiot.Honestly the story of CC and manav sounds really sweet and cute but farhan is ruining scenes the way he stares sanaya is creepy lol. Arjun ko hi le lete atleast he can act and story also requires friendship wala love he was perfect for the role :(.
ReplyDeleteI feel farhan used his connection to get this show if I am not wrong isn't he freinds with casting director because If they selected him on the basis of look test the I must say they are dumb I mean in latest photoshoot he looks so uncomfortable.
sorry diya about farhan rant i guess I really dislike him lol
Anyway Sanaya and supriya are jann of this show and supporting cast is good as well hope this show works for snaya because she deserves it
NB
I agree with NB, if they are thinking of replacing the ML, they should do it now. I remember Vipul Shah 's interview where he said that after signing Sanaya, the dynamics of casting changed. Then how was FK selected. For me it is not about being new but more about acting chops. Till now FK has not convinced me that HE CAN ACT, given more time or not. I particularly don't like his constant blinking and lack of voice modulation...all dialogues sound the same.
DeleteLike you said Dia, when half the industry wants to work with SI, then why are they experimenting!
This show is pitched around Sanaya's popularity...so it doing well is important for her, that's the concern...
-Uma
First, regarding execution ... I agree the execution of the show does need to pick up ... but the hallmark of IPK was subtle story-telling, while this PH and most others on telly, are not so subtle usually. Which is why these shows don't really lend themselves to much discussion ... everything is spelled out and all the loops are opened and closed meticulously. There is not much room left for speculation. In BV, it's even worse ... they end the episode with a little sermon, just in case anyone missed the point! Optimystix did start this show in a hurry, they were probably not completely ready ... so I think the execution will pick up in time. Judging by their previous show, I do feel confident about that part ... especially since we know they started it in a bit of a rush. I think they're feeling their way through this part ... love stories are not their forte, and to add to it, the inexperienced ML is not helping at all.
DeleteRegarding ML ... *sigh*
I agree with both of you, NB and Uma .. if they are thinking of replacing the ML, they should do it now, before the love story gets under way. I am also not impressed with Farhan at all ... yes, he is improving slightly, but he started at rock bottom, there was only one way to go ... and I had gotten put off by his comments when he was first selected ... all that noise about, I have been selected for many shows but I didn't take them, I refused Ekta, I've done movies and theater ...
Leave aside acting ... the guy is a model, and he was so stiff and awkward in the photoshoot with Sanaya and Supriya ... they were both relaxed and at ease, giving the required expressions easily, and even chatting in the middle ... this guy was stiff as a board!
I am not happy with his voice modulation either ... it is very flat. So are his expressions ... he is not spontaneous at all ...
KTLK changed Mohnish Behl halfway through, they got Sharad Kelkar who is a very decent actor ... the switch worked fine ... PR changed Sushant when he was very popular - of course he made it clear why he was leaving, so no issues ... they got Hiten, another equally good actor ... again, after a short while, he was accepted ...
There the replacements were for popular and very good actors. Here Farhan is neither popular (yet), nor is he a good actor, so AS LONG AS they get a DECENT actor, and NOT another newbie, there is absolutely no reason why the change should not work. If he was paired opposite another newbie actress, he might have worked ... but now for one, Sanaya is hugely popular, people want to see her with a good actor ... and two, the difference in acting level is just too stark. Sanaya is doing all the work in their scenes ... Farhan is struggling.
Oh yes ... my vote goes for Karan Wahi, I thought he had decided to leave tv for BW, but apparently he is back to TV ... if he could do a sidey role in KTLK, he can do a lead role here. He has the right combination of boyish good looks, and acting talent.
I also don't mind Varun Kapoor, the first choice ... I really don't know why the PH didn't go with him. He seemed the best of the lot.
I didn't like Vishal much, was glad when he dropped out, I didn't like Farhan at first look either, but was giving him a chance ... but I really don't understand that when the PH does HAVE options, why they are persisting with him. Almost all the feedback is negative about him ... when you have such a good team, led by Sanaya and Supriya, why drag it down with the male lead? And Manav could be a good character in the right hands ... he is not an Ahem dikra ... he could be far more proactive as a character, if the actor could deliver. The character has a lot of promise.
I just watched SBS and the dog party video I must say I am disappointed. The cv's need to buck up lightheated show doesn't mean they can show immature and kiddish scenes. In tems of story telling their previous show was much better wish sanaya had choosen some good show yaar this production house is better with comedy circus type shows :(
DeleteShow was tolerable if ML was good but farhan toh is pathetic he is looking like a joker in that red shirt with flowers and still has that I am creepy look.Diya I agree he is just I,me and myself and then he say I am a baby champu kahinka. Is there any way we can ask ph to change the hero pls pls pls.
I guess I will take a break from this show for a while beacuse I think if I continue watching I am sure I will crib more and ruin your fun I hope after few weeks the show improves and ML is changed I can't stand him lol
NB disappointed sanaya fan :(
oh btw just saw barun's pic in TOI article kya hogaya use his hairstyles seems inspired by armrish puri from damini lol. And pic from dubai play is even more scary kya hogaya sarun ko :(
Aww, NB ... you sound very disappointed! Chill ... remember there was a time at the beginning of IPK when we were all so angry and upset about Khushi's characterization ... felt it was going the Nupur way. Quite a few people dropped out of watching IPK at that time too. And the show did recover. As long as Chhanchhan is not compromised, I'm not bothered ... I need the female lead to be good, that is all. By the looks of it, CC will be much smarter than Khushi in many ways, and much better written, so I am willing to wait it out.
DeleteAs for Farhan ... am not very happy with him either, but have to give him some time, I guess ... he's a newbie. Else you can start giving feedback on the Sony website ... they are very up to date there.
I don't know if you're a dog lover ... I am, and so are my kids and many friends, and I have actually done a birthday party for dogs ... my 11 year old niece even went online and found a recipe for a cake for dogs, and she made it! So actually I don't find the concept all that kiddish ... besides, kids will love it anyway! I was enjoying seeing the dogs and all their flowery dresses ... my dog has a blue coat for the winter :)))
I know, Barun is looking quite awful in the latest pics ... I hate that unwashed, ungroomed look! I believe it is his movie look ... yikes, do I WANT to sit through a movie where he's gonna be looking like that? Where is my dapper, well-groomed sophisticated tycoon ASR?!
There are some new pics from some magazine which are much better ... he is at least shaved in those, although the hair still looks like Goldilocks!
Thanks diya for understanding me *hugs*
DeleteI have come to conclusion that show is not bad as I feel its just I find FK annoying and avoid the show whenever he comes onscreen. I have this problem if I don't like someone no can make me like that person unfortunately after reading FK bhaiyaji's interview he is on my hit list. Lets compare him with mohit(not going to comapre him with barun because he is way ahead and one of the best male actors on tv) see when mohit started he was pretty bad but he never claimed oh i am so good he learned and i guess within 2 weeks he was tolerable and also monaya looked cute together but in case of FK first he doesn't seem serious to me and I he does not look good with sanaya something is not clicking like sanaya looks so cute while interacting with manav while he just stares like a zombie lol.I hope directors pay attention to these negative reviews.
About dogs I am scared of them so ya I am no dog lover I guess thats why I don't relate to puchpuch's birthday party hehe.
And I agree barun looks good in those magazine pics but that TOI wala look is just weird I don't know why he doesn't wants to look good I miss is diwali look.
random rant - karan grover's show is going off air this month can he come as manav i really liked his and sanaya's jodi when they hosted ishq wala love
I second that Karan Grover was good with Sanaya...one can at least wish :)
DeleteAdding an IPK scene that Jaya posted in another thread ...
ReplyDeletehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T6Yv-kg-A1E
Just watch Sanaya in the first bit of the scene ... and watch her now as Chhanchhan. Such a HUGE difference ... two bubbly, chirpy girls ... and WHAT a difference Sanaya has made to their characterization! In terms of everything, starting from body language, dialogue delivery, voice modulation ... the awkward, gawky movements, the exaggerated expressions and hyper way of talking of Khushi ..
and look at the change in Chhanchhan ... much quieter, restrained, far more subtle in her expressions, the way of talking is completely different, very urban, cultured, the English thrown in casually and naturally ... while Khushi's English was also accented ... Chhanchhan's movements, her smile is different, there is that ease and confidence in it ... while Khushi spoke as though her words were tumbling to get out.
Now that I see Khushi again, the contrast between her and Chhanchhan is so clearly visible. Hats off to Sanaya!
hey Dia..a long weekend so only got a chance to come online now... Thursday's epi was thoroughly enjoyable..and saw the new promo..so glad that I am watching a show that the makers have a thorough plan about, and they are also showing new promos in between IPL matches :-)))
ReplyDeleteI see no kushi hangover..our sunshine girls just rocks!! she looked soooo pretty in white..and even FK was good..I am sooo irritated with IF, whats all with FK being replaced etc..wish these people give the guy a chance..after all everyone needs time to fit into a new job!!!
Appy, they're showing promos during IPL matches? Hope CC picks up after IPL ends then! *fingers crossed* I think their story is fully planned after the CC-Manav wedding, but the love story leading to the wedding is being stretched or maybe re-vamped a bit because it is Sanaya.
DeleteNo Khushi hangover AT ALL ... of all her looks in her three shows that I followed, am loving this one the best! San is wearing gorgeous clothes, her hair and makeup is good, she looks flawless ... and I love Chhanchhan's character ... just a touch more mischief and teasing would be icing on the cake, I love that teasing sparkle she gets in her eyes!
I think IF is getting hyper as usual ... but even the newspaper reviews have uniformly panned Farhan, I saw Indian Express and one more (TOI or HT, I forget) ... so the PH should take a closer look at him. He does deserve a decent chance ... but not if it's going to affect the show!
And like we were discussing above, half the industry would be happy to step in ... Manav is not such a dikra as Ahem from the looks of it ... he would probably be closer to Suraj or even a step or two ahead. So the actor needs to be decent.
read all the replies...dekthe hai whats in store for us..a new main lead??? waise, saw all 4 epis together...FK did seem the most aloof of the lot and something is amiss in his acting..like the dialogue..you can call me mama's boy felt very odd from his mouth!!! the rest of the cast has fit in well..BUT I still feel this guy CAN IMPROVE..and he does look good with Sanaya on screen..Hope for Sanaya's sake these teething troubles end soon!!
ReplyDeleteAppy, I don't particularly care whether Farhan improves, or is replaced ... but it has to be one or the other! Either he gets better, or he goes, and they get someone else ... it will not create much noise at all if they do replace him, as he has been getting uniformly bad reviews.
DeleteAgreed, he is a newbie, but I watched PKDH when it started ... that guy Aditya is a newbie as well, and he was so much better in his scenes from the beginning - there, it was the girl who was stiff and wooden. But because they were both newbies, the difference in acting level was not that glaring or obvious either.
Anyway, let's see ... hopefully they will sort out all these teething troubles before IPL ends ... they have some breathing space for the moment. Mujhe lagta hai this guy is another She-knows Producerwala :)))
Haan, Diya, the sooner they fix issues the better and no better time than the next month as IPL is till end of May !!...some pluses of the hyper media age is the makers do get lots more reviews these days..and even FK must be aware of the negative reviews...hopefully that will help him pull up his socks as well..to me Ahem, 3 yrs after the show began is still bad..and pankuri, to me is still a bore, the hero is definitely better than her..I guess the overall packaging of shows are critical, with dokla show and PKDH are in that league..and CC also seems to be packaged well :-))...Sanaya and Supriya kaafi hai to keep me hooked...rest is for the makers to worry about!
ReplyDeleteAppy, yes, they do have till the end of IPL ... I'm not really worried, because Sony is not so worried about TRP's, and it's not a love story, it's more about tashan between Uma Ben and Chhanchhan. But it would be nicer if the male lead was good ... the romance is going to be light and breezy, and it will be much more fun to watch if the guy is good.
DeleteI saw the SBS today, and Farhan seemed a little more at ease ... only the guy is a big mouth! He was asked if he can ride a bike, and he promptly blew his trumpet again ... I can ride a Bullet, I can do 360's, I can do stunts ... *head desk*
The crux is how they deal with the main story ... if they do that well, they are gonna be okay ... there they have the performers in place ... Sanaya and Supriya. And all the other actors have settled, or are settling into their roles ... they are all good.
I watched SGP for the family, the SuShaan chemistry was totally thanda, there again the ML was weak ... same with Maryada, I watched for the alternate stories, the Adi-Priya love story was not that great ... they were the weakest actors in the entire bunch, however that is not demeaning them in the slightest, because all the other actors were superb.
So if CC is basically a feel-good show, and is done well, I will enjoy watching it, regardless of FK. I already am ... I re-watched the two ChanMan scenes of Thursday quite a few times already ... Sanaya's expressions there are to die for!!! And she is looking adorable!
